So the transfer window shuts completely now, feel sorry for the likes of Phillips and Millar, they have no chance at Liverpool so why are we not letting them go to build a career elsewhere? Now they will spend their time in the U23’s till January what a waste.

{Ed002's Note - They were unfortunately priced out of moves. Liverpool were desparate to sell players to raise funds but found, like other clubs, the money is not out there - and it won't be out there nexy summer either.}

Obviously we are looking to cash in on players to help offset out incomings, but would we not potentially see young players sold for a cheap total but a higher sell on clause?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Sell on clauses are still reasonably rare in England. Buyers really don't have the money - clubs like LIverpool and Arsenal have purchased players by gambling future income. At the lower-level they cannot even do that and the loan system works well for them. You won't see a return to the norm anytime soon I am afraid.}

A little bit of something is better than a lot of nothing!

Shame they both seem to be model professionals, and just kept their head down.

So we foresee a time of tapering down of salaries and player transfer prices, Ed002? Just the EPL or throughout the continent?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Across Europe some high-profile clubs are asking players to take reduced salaries until the finances return to more of a norm - but I suspect that will be at least two or three years away as things stand right now. Again, across Europe, lower-tier teams will need the support of higher-tier teams and the players to survive. In England League One and League Two have agreed to have squad salary caps which is similar to how other leagues in Europe operate. Transfer fees will remain very high for the elite and up and coming players and clubs are already discussing how they will be able to complete their transfers for next summer. Real Madrid, for example, have four or five firm targets for next summer which will be expensive - so they will need to continue what they have done this year and sell or exchange players. Loans will continue at a higher level than they have done so before. Rules will also change to encourage clubs to make better use of their academy systems.}
