Allot being said about Xabi Alonso coming home around the numerous rumour chat sites. Cant see it myself. . btw SG looked very good in that role against The A*se on Sunday.

Quick vote - Who would love it if Alonso came back to the pool? Believable for Yes / Unbelievable for No.

Liverpool Rumours
Here is the latest from the "famous" Bamba an person who is well connected to the action with all that is going on at LFC with regard to the takeover:

"Just to bring a little sanity to the guessing-games as to who I'm 'working for'. No-one. I'm certainly not cheerleading one particular bid. I salute the work Jack Slater and others are doing in urging caution and proper detailed scrutiny before we welcome a new bunch of well-heeled saviours through the Shankly Gates. That said, the Huang bid is the one I know a lot about; have done for a while; and am satisfied, via friends, colleagues and contacts inside and outside LFC and the City of London financial community, that his bid and his proposal for the future development of the club stacks up. If there's another bid of substance that is currently on the table complete with proof of funding, then neither myself or anyone I rely upon for a credible inside track knows about it.

There was definitely a feeling on Friday afternoon that Huang was to be named preferred bidder. It remains a mystery as to why the club advised, around tea-time last Friday, that an official statement was coming within the hour, only for the non-committal statement we all saw to be issued some three or four hours later. It was also odd listening to Christian Purslow state on 5Live that no bid was jumping out as being particularly attractive at the moment, and none had supplied proof of funding. Huang's bid came complete with the necessary proofs, though a well-placed financial journalist thinks the club has asked for more documentation.

The same journo is convinced that Huang's proposed takeover has come down to a blinking match. Martin Broughton is looking for a richer valuation than Huang is prepared to pay. Huang is adamant he'll put as little profit as possible in the current owners' pockets. Something has to give, and it could be that Huang retires for the time being, if a deal can't be concluded in time for Roy Hodgson to invest in the current transfer market.

In terms of my gagging, Alan F has it spot on. By a process of elimination, those closest to the sale process will work out who is giving classified information to the likes of myself. For my part, I've passed some of that on to the moderators of this site, so they're satisfied there's no skulduggery or stealth PR going on. There's a lot of fascinating detail to reveal, and in time it will all come out. For now, I really am going to shut it. I want Hicks and Gillett gone, and I'm not saying anything more that might in any way stop, or delay that happening.

Keep checking The Times. The two Tonys speak to the same people, and they're the only journalists who keep calling this takeover accurately."

THIS IS LIKELY TO BE FACT NOT RUMOUR!

Alot of people have asked. If a player plays in the qualification stage of a European tournament they aren't cup-tied. They will become cup-tied if they play in the group stage.

Example:
If Javier Mascherano plays tommorow against Trazpanspor he will not YET, be cup-tied.

Hope it helps.

Santa Cruz coming to Liverpool and Wayne Bridge too season long loan with option to buy at end of season.

Not sure about Santa Cruz (though this one seems to be growing pace) But Wayne Bridge on loan? are you mad?
Why would Mancini let Wayne go to a rival team after telling him he is in his plans? Bellamy was not allowed to go to a rival so why on earth would city throw yet another 'home grown' player out of the squad?

Liverpool Rumours
Editor do you have any idea on the insua situation. Not much talk of him leaving since the Fiorentina deal fell through. However there is persistant rumours about us bringing in a new left back.
Surely if he is staying a left back is not required with him, Aurelio and Agger all adeqautely filling the role.

{Editor's Note: It is all rumours right now.}

I agree with the editor, however if you look on the LFC site you will see Insua does NOT have a squad number, which makes me think he won't be a LFC player for long. Also Ed, who do you think we will sign before the end of the transfer window. I personally think the gritted performance by the lads on Sunday shows that we don't NEED any positions, so ed, your view?

TomLFC {editor's note - Roy seems to be of the same mind, he wants a striker, but he does not feel the situation is desperate. With Aurelio returning he is no longer searching for a left back, Poulsen was brought in to bolster the midfield, so if Mash goes he won't be replaced. The only other position Roy is keen on adding, if possible, is the wings, but again he doesn't see it as urgent so will only sign what he sees as the right player.}

Liverpool FC is still a top top class club with top class fans, players, coaches and facilities, and are easely capable of pulling in top top players, though at the moment only for the right price.

onto roumers i think we should use our money to sign this taulivin, (SPELLING) seen a video on youtube and this kid looks rather good. if the sale of mascherano goes through then we can afford a couple more additions, though i have to say i would be chuffed to bits if we kept monster masch and got this young striker in.

also if mach does go or even if not the resigning of xabi alonso would be one for the guiness books, and i don't think you would find a single liverpool player or fan that would'nt feel the same. "BELIEVABLE_ _ _NON BELIEVABLE PLEASE VOTE

Ryan Babel will join Wolfsburg within the next 48 hours. Expect him to be omitted from the Europa League game tomorrow as he will travel to Germany to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical. The fee is a straight £9million rising to £11m (the amount Liverpool paid for him) depending on appearances and goals.
As soon as this transfer is completed, Liverpool will use the money and lodge an upfront offer of £10million plus future incentives for either Arda Turan or Bryan Ruiz. I would expect it to be Turan though as Liverpool would have to apply for a work permit for Ruiz as he is from Costa Rica and therefore would have to apply for a work permit which potentially could hold up a move. Hodgson wants a replacement signed quickly and a work permit is something the Turkish Turan wouldn't need. {editor's note - Turkey is not in the EU, a work permit would be required for him to play for us as well.}

I love how the Editors think they know everything! Look up the facts, like Rafa Benitez would do and I think you'll find that Turkey are part of the EU.

{Editor's Note: I am pretty sure none of the Editors would claim to know everything. However, I am sure Rafa would have looked Turkey up as you suggest - and he would have found that Turkey is NOT in the
European Union.}.

The editor is quite correct on this, Turkey are about a third of the way through the application progress, which probably won't end until about 2015

the editor is correct, i work for a department associated with the EU and turkey is only an associate member at this stage and the last guy was correct in saying it will take a few years, so the guy throwing abuse, shut your mouth and learn the facts or f""k off to italy with rafa so we don't have to put up with you, you stupid knobache!

Good news, my fellow liverpool fans!, Tawio of marseille who was keen on a move to us, but marseille wouldn't sell him, has said he will run down the rest of his contract with his contract set to expire at the end of this season!, so next season we will have a good attacking left back in Tawio. so i can see insua being sold, and roy getting in a cheap left back, to start or cover aurelio, shame that would have to be konchesky, i can see him coming in for around 2.5 - 3million, because his contract also expires at the end of the season
Harrison :)

Tawio is contracted till 2012. so we will have to wait for 2 years for that to happen.

Olympique Marseille Reach Agreement With Nice For Loic Remy.

Not a done deal yet !
the clubs have reached an agreement on price, but neither personal terms nor a medical has happened. Not saying it won't happen Just HE HAS NOT SIGNED YET
and don't forget W.ham agreed a fee with nice, ALSO Hoffenheim have tabled a bid which meets nice's valuation of the player added to this is there is a clause in the contract that if Lyon match the price or better it they have first refusal on remy.

Midfielders

We are once again linked with Parker(w.ham)
also Defour (s.liege). .

personal opinion on both possibilities.

Parker.
As stated on Many Many occasions Parker will not be sold by w.ham UNLESS the player hands in a transfer request.

Defour.
If Roy does want defour he'll have to move very quietly and very quickly.
Man ure have been keeping an EXTREMELY close eye on the player and his recovery from the serious injury.Fergie himself sent Defour a letter of support when he got his injury and told him he would be monitoring his recovery personally. If fergie thinks for one minute liverpool are trying to sign him, he will move as quickly for defour as he did when man citeh started enquiring about Bebe(who Fergie admited to have never seen play, and they would have normally waited to see his developement).Added to that fact is the ongoing injury/ s to Owen (did he last play) , hargreaves.

We are not going to sign a foreign, cup-tied player we can't afford! so no more about turan unless something else develops.

roy will look to sign a left back, and a versatile midfielder (hence the interest in parker) who can cover all the central midfield positons, and help out in defense too.

a striker will be signed, but don't expect a world class, hot foreign prospect either. i think roy will stay english and pick up a cast off from another team (crouch). .

feel free to disagree with me. .but the bids (not signings) i expect will be for crouch and parker (maybe if roys feeling particularly ambitious, bridge, and even back to his old club for his fave, zamora - fulham will accept a bit if its good enough. .but i don't know if we have the cash. .)

Spurs join Liverpool in hunt for Swedish hotshot, Tottenham want Liverpool target Ola Toivonen

Earlier this month, reports had suggested that the Reds were prepared to table a bid of £5 million for the ex-Malmo centre-forward, Sky Sports now reporting that Spurs are also interested in the marksman, PSV are understood to be holding out for at least £10 million.
Harry Redknapp has made no secret of his desire add some extra potency to his frontline, and he is believed to have identified Toivonen as the man to help Spurs maintain their place in the top four of the Premier League.
Sources in Holland are now speculating that initial contact between PSV and Spurs has already been made, and that an deal could be finalised before the transfer window slams shut.

Liverpool to sign Lukaku for 9million but will loan back for one season .

If babel completes his move to Wolfsburg expect Roy to sign Arda Turan for Fenebache ( spelling ).

Liverpool will then make two signings once Mascherano joins Barca they will be Connor Wickham for 7million and Steven Defour for 13million

LFC 4 Life

1) There is no interest in Lukaku. 2) Roy is not selling Babel. 3) Roy is not buying Arda. 4) Neither LFC, nor anyone else for that matter will be buying Wickham this window. 5) LFC is not looking to buy Dafour.

Agree with the points raised and also Arda plays for Galatasary not Fenerbache

I have no links inside Liverpool but if Wolfsburg are after Babel and he is rated 9m then they should use any money to bring in Dzeko. He is a proven goalscorer in a top league and big strong striker which Hodgson wants. I would like to see him at L'Pool. click believable if you agree

Giuseppe Sculli was 4.1m not 25m! . . Where has this insane rise come from? I'm not even sure if Masherano and Sculli play the same role?. .Of course there is still a possibility that he is going. . Why did he clap and thank the fans as he knows himself he is going. . Something is on the cards that's for sure!. . .I wouldn't worry though as Roy has just stated that any player leaving (who is in the 25man squad) will need to be replaced. . That includes Masherano!

If Masherano leaves I would expect another midfielder and perhaps left over money towards another player? I don't know because like everybody else, I'm speculating!

My guess-

Outs:

MonsterMash- 22-26m

Insua- 3-5m

El Zhar- 1-3m ( pretty sure he isn't in the 25 man squad so don't expect replacements).

Ins:

Left-Back- ??m

POSSIBLY a striker

Ed do you think we still have a chance of singing him? Surely if his agent is ex hodgson player this gives us an advantage? thanks

Striking options for liverpool:
Gignac is going to marseille so won't join us
Remy would have came already if Roy wanted him
Ruiz is joining Sevilla
C. Cole is over-priced

I think Toivolen is the most likely to come in simply based on the fact Roy has sent scouts to see him in action, Sammy Lee and Roy himself so he must be serious about bringing him in, the only stumbling block i can see may be his price or wages so no guarantees.
Plus the fact harry redknapp and spurs are interested must mean we are because they seem to use other clubs as a scouting system i.e. any player a rival club wants so does redknapp

Roy Hodsgon today said in an interview with lfc tv that there has been no contact from anybody for ryan babel therefore, the reports in the media are false he also goes on to say that he is expecting to have babel at lpool next season.

this could be good news as babel will thrive under a manager who can show him 'a bit of love' and give him confidence, form is temporary, class is permanent he came with a big reputation and delivered in his first season (10 goals from mainly substitue appearences) he is only 23 remember nani in the 08/ 09 season? terrible however the 09/ 10 season he was awesome so babel CAN come good.

also said in the interview cavillieri will leave and when purslow said 'one or two more signings' he meant ON TOP of the jones signing so it looks like a left back (koncheskey) and forward (Toivolen) will be brought in.
IF mascherano leaves then stefen defour perhaps?? after his agent saying to prem clubs are still interested in him ( Liverpool and Manchester United)

ED is there a chance of xabi alonso returning to liverpool? he feels he might lose his place in the madrid first 11 with the arrival of ozil and khedira.
benetiz was the reason he left and that he is gone he might consider a return. there would be no fee involved because madrid still owe liverpool 25mil from his transfer.

{Editor's Note: Firstly, there is nothing owed for Alonso by Real Madrid. Secondly, he would command a fee and a fee we cannot afford. Finally, we should be looking forward and not back. Alonso was a favourite of the fans and every where he has played he has been liked by his fellow pros. I doubt that he would consider that a move back to Liverpool would further his career either. Recent reports suggest Parker is delaying putting pen to paper on a new five-year contract with West Ham fuelling speculation he is holding out on a move to Liverpool who have already had a bid rejected.
.
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has been monitoring Parker all summer and despite having an earlier offer knocked back, remains eager to sign the 30-year-old.

Living in east ham, i have one or two contacts at whfc. i can assure all liverpool fans, that neither cole or parker will join l'pool.

santa cruz to whfc has fallen through, so cole is not an option to sell.

looks like its looking likely that we will end up signing Ola from PSV for a fee around 10m euros, 7-8m pounds.

SELL Aquilani, Babel, Lucas, Insua, Mascherano
for combined fee of say 45-50million.

We will need a defensive midfielder
Scot Parker

A left back
Wayne Bridge

A left winger
Saun Wright Philips

A striker
Defoe

We can buy the odd foreign luxury player when the money from the new owners comes in if needed.

At last liverpool have been re-linked with twente striker bryan ruiz, in early july we were linked with him and i really wanted us to but him, but we then cooled our interest. since then we have been linked with other over priced strikers e.g c cole, kiesling. ruiz is much better than any of these after scoring 24 goals last season, apparently we are hoping to swap babel plus cash for him. hope this deal goes through, he is class.

Wish everyone would stop linking Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea with city players. SWP, Ireland Given etc will not be joining any of these teams or Villa or Spurs for that matter unless there involved in a P/ x deal. I.e Ireland p/ x for Milner. They don't need to sell to raise money and have just sent Bellamy to Cardiff paying the bulk of his wages as they are not prepared to strengthen rival clubs. So why people are suggesting they will allow younger better players to go to rivals baffles me.

Anyway back to a real rumour, working as a steward on Sunday's match the overheard Mauro Zarate being mentioned as a potential transfer target. Apparently enquiries have already been made.

Wouldnt mind a gamble on him.

Also the board are close to picking a prefered bidder. The board have kept there cards close to their chest and no rumours around the club as to who the prefered bidder is at this stage. Expecting an announcement to be made in the next 5 days. Once one is picked it is up to the bidder how long it takes from there. Hopefully will give us 2 or 3 days to get players in.

Roy has held back on the new striker to see how this pans out but has now been told not to expect anything befor the window shuts

I have heard (from nobody in authority) that SWP is a possible target on the list who could now be available potentially on the cheap since Milner is about to arrive at Man City.

May not be a bad addition as it would enable the use of Dirk Kuyt in a more central/ Support Striker role with Maxi and SWP battling on the wings.

U might not know as much as you think because according to most media sources (off the back of an interview with Villa's care taker manager) he is about to sign for city! I'd love it if they were wrong and you were right but I suspect you're either gullible or full of it

Expect Liverpool to only sign one more notably-decent player, probably a striker. Numerous sources (I don't know how reliable they are) have hinted that Ola Toivonen is this player.

Roy will continue with Agger at left-back but only until January as the player does not particularly enjoy playing in that position. And by this time who knows what kind of money might be available to him? Alternatively, Roy may opt for a cheap full-time left-back, however, I hope this is not the case as this road seems to be angling towards Konchesky -.-

Liverpool Rumours
Update on a couple of Liverpool's fans targets. Marseille have made a formal offer to Toulouse for Andre-Pierre Gignac who they see as the perfect partner to their other target Loic Remy. I am not sure that they will get both players - but there is a reasonable chance. Gignac seems most probable - but Loic Remy seems intent on giving England a try.

As soon as this transfer is completed, Liverpool will use the money and lodge an upfront offer of £10million plus future incentives for either Arda Turan or Bryan Ruiz. I would expect it to be Turan though as Liverpool would have to apply for a work permit for Ruiz as he is from Costa Rica and therefore would have to apply for a work permit which potentially could hold up a move. Hodgson wants a replacement signed quickly and a work permit is something the Turkish Turan wouldn't need. {editor's note - Turkey is not in the EU, a work permit would be required for him to play for us as well.}

Players that could arrive at Liverpool:

Mark Davies(Bolton)
Tom Cairney(Hull)
Jan Vertonghen(Ajax)
Carlos Salcido(PSV Eindhoven)
Ova Toivonen(PSV Eindhoven)
Phil Jones(Blackburn)
Haris Vuckic(Newcastle)

Obviously not all of these players will join. They are all realistic however.

Toivonen is part of 20 man PSV squad in siberia and expected to start the game. Interesting to see , if he does or not.

Salcido wants a move away from PSV , no offers yet though. But, PSV don't mind letting him go.
I know from a source that Salcido has some offers from England , but i do not know from which club.

Rumours : . i do not think we will get a left back, insua is the one who wants to leave. He is currently considering offers from south america. masch has an interest but not from a "posh" club (as per him ) and he is not YET interested to go there.
I have heard that a striker is priority as Roy does not think Torres will be fit for entire season. Yeah i know there is Ngog , but every top team has 4 good strikers.

Hey all, I'm just wondering, if we do sell Babel, won't we have enough money to buy a striker/ left back with more class. We currently have about 8-12 million. Another 9 would gives us 17-21 million. Isn't that enough to get us at least one class striker?

()()

18 Aug 2010 08:51:14
Javier Mascherano is going to spend another season with us as transfer negotiations with Barca and Inter broke down. The three players leaving before the transfer deadline are Ryan Babel who's heading to Wolfsburg for 9million. Insua is to complete his tranfser to Genoa while Diego Cavallieri will return to South America as Brad Jones signes in. Roy Hodgson is looking at two strikers at the moment, Ola Toivonen of Psv Eindhoven and Gignac of Toulouse but Toivonen is the most likely to come.

Liverpool Rumours
Liverpool will NOT sign bryan ruiz. .benfica have said they will not let him go for anything less than ?40m (approx £33m) which we can't afford, even if we sell mascherano for £25m. dutch under 21 striker ricky van wolfswinkle has been linked although utrecht have slapped £8m price tag on him which could be a little costly for a 'yet to become' household name. i would be happy with someone like james beattie, who ill admit, is getting on a bit (32) but lets face it, the guy has plenty of PL experience and he knows where the net is. at £2.5m he could be just what we need until the takover happens, then, hopefully we can get who we want {editor's note - Bryan Ruiz plays for FC Twente, not Benfica, FC Twente are in need of money, they will sell him for a lot less.}

With the arrival of brad jones today there will be no place for cavaleri as roy will use gulacsi as no3 keeper he is lined up for a return to south america for 2 million [Cavalieri has stated his intent to leave for reasons similar to Mach, that's why we have got Jones in]

paul koncheskey will be snapped up for 3.5 million and insua will go to make way for this deal

[cant see how that's a better signing than keeping Insua to be honest, Id rather continue with Agger at LB than waste money on the Konk]

babel is off to birmingham for 10 million expect that cash to go towards the signing of connor wickham from ipswich

[Id be interested to see if Roy can work his Zamora magic on Babel and get him fireing again. . We need a striker and both Babel and Kuyt were originally strikers till rafa made them wingers. ]

there is cash for a striker lots of suggestions in press but will have to wait and see

[I doubt theres a lot of cash unless someone comes in for Mach, My guess would be a 5-8m player coming in]

plessis/ el zhar/ rodriguez and lucas are all avaliable to buy if they go and only then will steven defour and shaun wright phillips come in.

[Lucas was captain the other day, I reckon he is staying. Plus we have Gerrard, Aqualani, Shelvey and now Poulsen, why would we need to spend money on Defour?]

liverpool looking for cash for mascharano and at present nobody can afford him

[ I don't think its they can't afford him, its more about a waiting game. he wants to leave, he is in his last year of contract, that makes him cheap! and the teams interested will hold off till they can get him for a bargain. .I wouldn't expect to get anywhere near 25m. more like 18 if we are lucky, it don't matter how good he is or what he is worth, its what we will get for a player that becomes FREE next year]

I think Ola Toivonen will come and that will be it.

masch is defo going will be finallised on monday next week he will be joining inter for 21m and px,

also swp will be finalised on friday evening this week with roy also looking at an english striker but not to sure who is is kenny thinks it is for defoe but i not to sure

Think if we were gonna buy SWP then we would have him by now, and i don't think for one minute that Spurs would part with Defoe, but, hey we've been here before, stranger things have happened.

Thought i would share this article from the national Post Canadian newspaper. . . .
Liverpool FC will spend the coming days conducting forensic investigations into the financing of the handful of "formal bids" submitted last Thursday by contenders to buy the soccer club , managing director Christian Purslow has revealed. The club confirmed on Friday night that several formal offers to complete a takeover at Anfield Stadium, right, and end the three-year tenure of owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have been received by the board, led by chairman Martin Broughton. Initial background checks on all candidates have been completed by both the club and Barclays Capital, the bank appointed to find a buyer, and results on all those parties to have tabled bids are thought to be positive.
