Ed2 any truth that Watford would want 80 million for Sarr?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

18 Aug 2021 18:34:26
Hi eds, have we spoken to Watford again about Sarr and do you think we will on board him this transfer window? Seems like a sensible signing to me and 40 million seems pretty reasonable. Thanks in advance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Traore might be easier.}

18 Aug 2021 19:05:57
We’d be just as well keeping Origi as signing Traore, Origi has scored and created more goals in his career to date than Traore.

Agree5 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 19:06:45
Maybe but not as good as Sarr. Have we spoken to Watford again or just paper talk? Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 19:34:46
I thought Traore would be more than that tbh Ed mate and harder to prize away from Wolves?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

18 Aug 2021 19:45:24
Ed002 what’s your opinion on the player, quality wise?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am by no means convinced he is what Liverpool want.}

18 Aug 2021 20:08:58
Want or need? Come on eds, cards on the table. are we signing Sarr? 🤣.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 20:56:20
Traore would probably take sitting on the bench more than Starr given he’s used to it at Wolves. Not sure how that would help his game improve though or are we going for a forward 5!

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 21:01:04
Freddie Starr might be a better signing.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 21:10:19
No chance of Sarr.

Agree3 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 21:33:53
Price being similar, would go for Sarr, higher ceiling, younger, friendship with Mane, should help him assimilate quicker, I actually think Klopp would turn him into the ball carrying (attacking) midfielder he's been looking for since he got here. He's spend on OX, Keita, Shaqiri and that position seems to have injury curse on it.

If we get Sarr or Traore, think Harvey Elliott is getting another loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 22:01:02
They paid £30m for him apparently, not sure his stock is that much higher personally, £40m would seem fair.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Aug 2021 06:33:33
The elephant in the room is that if it is Sarr, he is coming with a view to replace someone, likely Salah. The talk of long drawn out contractual negotiations is already abound, and with 2 years left and an agent like he has, this renewal is not going to be anywhere near as smooth as the others. I can see him going to PSG next year to replace Mbappe .

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Aug 2021 07:40:07
Spaceman, if Sarr comes it will be as as addition to our front 4 and not as anyone's replacement (unless it is squad players like Origi, Shaq, Taki) . And Klopp has always wanted another forward who is of a similar level to Jota who can challenge our front 3 and eventually replace them in the next 2-3 years, not immediately.
Salah's signing a new contract btw.

Morning ed2, hope your well.

Would Watford have any interest in Divok? Maybe something could be done? Personally i like Sarr, i thibk his potential would be a better investment and seems like a better impact player than Origi (althoughje has done well, excluding a dip last season) .
If we could shift the players no longer seen in klopps plans i think the squad has a good versatility to it. Still probably missing a box to box type player, but jones needs time to develop.

I think as a squad liverpool have a good collection of talent on their hands. A drop off from the first 11 is expected. People just need to relax and take what comes our way. The C.V.s been tough on a lot of clubs and we have had a good run with klopp at the club. When we look back, the club has definitely improved massively in results and even the quality of talent we are attracting in that time. long may it continue.

Thabks again ed2 and the rest 👍 best football site on the internet 👏.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Watford have no interest in Origi.}

19 Aug 2021 10:17:04
Agree Indian B - if someone like Sarr comes in, it’ll be with one eye on the future but doesn’t necessarily mean one of our front three moving on immediately.

I expect if something can be done with Shaqiri and Origi then one of these two will be joining.

Fatawu all but confirmed -

Issahaku added a post to his Insta story that shown a video called: “Here’s why Liverpool signed Abdul Fatawu Issahaku. "

It would not be the first time that the Reds have poached talent from around the world with the club preferring to build talents rather than snap up the biggest stars.

Surely he’s not old enough yet? Pretty sure Ed002 said we’d be in the old s h 1 t if we bought him?

Think we'll sign him when he's 18.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 20:35:41
Perhaps we will do something cunning and not process the signing until he 18?

Then everything will be squeaky clean and all above board (cough, cough, cough)

I don't think a transfer ban would make any difference at the moment.

hi eds, can't see us getting a midfielder unless someone makes way. any truth that chamberlain could leave?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any efforts to sell him.}

18 Aug 2021 15:19:23
thanks, so no new midfielder then.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot see how the two are related.}

18 Aug 2021 15:26:07
We’d best hope that both Henderson and Fabinho stay fit all season in that case.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 15:26:55
I don't think we are signing a midfielder this window. We will get a versatile forward and that will be it. Hopefully Elliot and Jones take this opportunity to cement a place in the first team and give the other academy/ youth players more motivation to make the first team squad.

Agree6 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 15:30:35
We don't need to sell Ox to guy a new midfielder, we just need to sell a foreign midfielder to buy another foreign midfielder.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 15:35:40
henderson, fabinho, thiago, milner, keita, elliot, jones, chamberlain even klopp has said the midfield is full.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 16:49:50
Vvvv appreciate our great squad, stop batching like a girl all the time, Thiago is a great player and a serial winner, Jones and Elliott have great futures, Ox is also a very good player as well as Naby.

Agree12 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 19:37:29
Our midfield is poor without either of Henderson and Fabinho, that’s just a matter of truth, Mighty. I’ve yet to see any evidence that Naby is a very good player at all, all I’ve seen in three years is a player who is lightweight, injury prone and disinterested in actually making any effort, he should be moved on for his and our sake.

Aside from Henderson and Fabinho, none of the rest of the midfielders available are remotely capable of playing as a midfield anchor/ number 6 role, as was shown at the weekend against Norwich, that’s an accurate and critical appraisal of our squad. We’ve lots of players who can play 8 or 10, but only two who can effectively play the number 6 role, both of whom have missed around 10 games + in each of the last two years.

Milner looked out of his depth and which we only looked like we had any control over the game when fab came on, a better side than Norwich would have cut us apart. We’re pinning our hopes on Hendo and Fab being fit throughout the season, which is a huge risk, almost as big a risk as only going into a season with only three first choice centre backs….

Agree3 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 21:09:14
If you want to win at football, you take risks.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 21:15:10
Agree with you Victor, naby is stealing a wage at the club and is nowhere near the levels that made us go buy him.
Milner is getting very close to the end now and it realy will show this season, people thinking he is going to come in and boss the midfield are going to be disappointed.
Thiago I think will show what he's made of this season, tho I don't see him playing the defensive midfield position doing that.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 23:35:03
Naby was asked to do a job for the team on Saturday, just like Gini was and didn't very well, it was not too dissimilar to a Gini performance, Naby was superb on Saturday.

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Aug 2021 02:21:37
our midfield is fine. this is what a squad is about. all this bleating about needing this and that is irrelevant because a) we're probably not going to sell the likes of Ox / Keita this window and therefore b) we won't be signing anyone.

Agree4 Disagree0

19 Aug 2021 11:04:05
Faithinworks the midfield is not fine-
fabinho=yes
hendo=good player but injury prone
thiago=took time to adjust but should he's a top player.
keita=hit and miss even when fit.
jones=not quite there yet.
milner=to old
chamberlain=injuries have caught up with him.

apart from hendo-fabinho-thiago the covering players all have questions against them.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Aug 2021 16:55:19
we played liverpool's worst every midfield combination in the history of world football, and they did a job for us. Yes there are question marks, but the answer isn't bringing in extra bodies. and given we aren't selling these guys I think you and others need to accept this and look ahead to the next window.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2021 18:37:32
Or VVVV, we can switch to a double pivot if either Hendo or Fab are out of the side or.

Good afternoon eds and reds.
This is for ed2. Hope you're well Ed?

Of the three versatile attacker/ winger targets is it safe to assume that Sarr is Liverpool's preferred option followed by Traore and Bowen (2 and 3)?

Can we afford any of them at this stage or would it still require further sales?

Many thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Players still need to be sold and Liverpool would look to spreading payments out. Sarr and Traore is of interest but I think Bowen can be forgotten now as the player West Ham were looking to replace him with has moved elsewhere. Wolves have held discussions with the reprentatives of a potential replacement for Traore. Watford are aware Sarr wishes to leave.}

18 Aug 2021 12:55:45
Ed002 I would like Sarr as a player but it does seem silly to add another forward that will leave for the AFCON even if it’s only 2 league games seems a strange option.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 13:27:17
Sarr has the potential to be a fantastic player. Understand the concern on the AFCON, thought that is why the club would look to Doku but if Sarr has a good season in the prem this year imagine the cost of him next summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 13:33:41
Must remember the AFCON moves to summer after the next one (that’s still the case isn’t it Ed002?) so it’s only an issue for 2 league games out of hopefully several seasons that Sarr may spend with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - 2022 it is in January and Feb, 2023 it will be in June and July meaning players will possibly not be available for the opening game or two of the season.}

18 Aug 2021 14:26:38
Out of curiosity Ed002,

Who would like cost more, Traore or Sarr?

Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They would be roughly the same at about £40M each.}

18 Aug 2021 14:33:52
i would love to go for sarr, not bothered about AFCON as we can use minamino-jota-elliot for 2 games.

Agree5 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 14:57:00
I think the AFCON is a very minor consideration, talent and potential are the most important measure, and in that respect Sarr is streets ahead of Traore. Have a look at the Watford v Villa at the weekend if it’s still on sky. He was the best player on the pitch, always got into good positions, played with his head up, set up the first and scored a decent (if fortunate) goal himself by getting an early shot away, their fullback couldn’t keep up with him either for pace or physique.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 15:32:57
Sarr has a lot of talent in the bag, I think he'd be a very shrewd buy. We can't easily attract proven names to come and sit on the bench because we can't offer them 300k a week like City can, so the alternative is to buy young talented players like Sarr (and Jota) who are happy to mostly start on the bench but still strongly contribute.

Agree4 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 16:06:33
With City, Chelsea and MU gaining strength, we need to have enough firepower to stay in contention. Although it might seem like it's only 2 games lost for AFCON but why not go for a player that will not be involved? With C.V. and also potential injury that could happen during the AFCON, I think it is a massive risk. For me, I will pick either Traore because he has prem league experience or Doku.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 18:36:08
Why not sign players that don't play international football at all? You know with C. V and the potential injury that can happen during international football its just a massive risk.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2021 18:40:50
What if we sign a player who isn’t going to AFCON but he gets injured just before the tournament and misses the two matches anyway.

What happens if we buy a player who is eligible for AFCON and he doesn’t get picked?

What happens if there is another C.V. (or another variant of the current one) and people aren’t allowed to travel overseas.

What happens if we sign a player who is selected for AFCON but decides he doesn’t want to go for personal reasons?

What if a meteorite hits the planet just before AFCON and we enter a new Ice Age ….

It is a little known fact that, along with trying to work out football club finances using only fingers, toes and an overactive imagination, the ‘what if’ game is one of the biggest reasons footy fans are hospitalised with self- induced stress related sicknesses during transfer window periods.

Probably best to trust in the club and let them do the worrying - best for us fans just to get to the match and cheer on the ones playing in red.

Morning Ed’s and fellow reds. seeing a bit of talk about Traore from wolves is ready to force a move to us this week, anyone heard anything? I personally don’t want him but if he did come I would back him 100%.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Adama Treore (RW) not keen on a new contract - Leeds and West Ham have asked Wolves about his availability and it would not be a surprise to see some interest from Spurs. Could potentially interest Klopp who has had the hots for him before. Wolves will want a new contract agreed but have now started talks over a replacement for him.}

18 Aug 2021 10:48:03
Bowen to us, Traore to the Hammers would be better. Yes Traore is an exciting player to watch, until the final ball or finish. Bowen looks more complete.

18 Aug 2021 20:09:33
Leeds interested and that's where Raphinha plays. is Raphinha our surprise Ed002 oh my that would be fantastic?!

We can't afford him but then again I didn't think we could afford £40M for a winger so it would be better (in my opinion) to spend £55M on Raphinha than £40M on Traore.

Where is the income from finishing 3rd last season and winning the league by a mile the season before.
Let’s not kid ourselves, FSG can purchase another player if Klopp feels it would be a good addition to the squad, that is a fact.

Hi Ed's hope you are well.

Do you know what the plan for Minamino is? Is he for sale? Will a loan be acceptable or is he set to stay at Liverpool this season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Takumi Minamino (AM) Sevilla are keen to take Minamino to replace Vazquez but would want a loan to buy. Southanpton were keen to keep him but again but it would be a loan to buy they are looking for. Liverpool are looking for sales not loans but may well price him out of a sale leaving Klopp to work with him as an existing player to save money.}

18 Aug 2021 14:28:35
If we sold origi and shaq I would be happy keeping mina, even if we got another player in. Jota mina and new attacker being the three to compete. Elliot could be used there but more often in the middle.

Hope you are doing well and enjoyed the first weekend of premier league’s brand new season. I see a few rumors around Barnes.

Is it true we are interested in Harvey Barnes. Considering he signed a new deal, it must be dead in the water for this summer at least?
