I understand- regarding honda, that cska's league does not finish in may like ours- would this mean that they are unlikely to want to sell him in the summer? or do you think its more likely next january that we could get him?

Great shout mate. Because of the way their league is played and if CSKA are doing well, will they let him go in the summer?
But his agent said just after the Asian Cup that Honda will be staying untill the summer. Which makes you think that there was some interest in him in January, and this interest will resume in the summer. But a lot of teams want him because of his playing ability, not just his mercahandising. I just hope that he picks the club he loves, and we'll see him at Anfield in the summer.

I agree. I think there wud be a boom in shirt sales aswell. One of the eds said that athletico only wanted honda if kun aguero left. what other clubs do you know are intrested? or isit just us?

Ed do you still think we will sign Honda? {ed's note - I think there is a chance, never thought we would as such, but always hoped we would. Honda is still looking to leave Russia and is keen on a move to England, but it is impossible to say right now if we will move for him or if we would be in pole position.}

In that case do we know if marcelo might be available. I remember madrid was chasing ashley cole - that could be back on considering chelsea woes this season

I wouldn't think so mate. Real will probably keep him because he can play LW or LB, so would be very useful in their squad. The stories about Cole seemed to have fizzled out, but i personally think they were true. But he is to old now and Contrao seems to be their No.1 choice LB. Some people on here post what Contrao said "I love Liverpool" which he did. But he also said in the same article "I would love to play under Mourinho, as he is a great manager". We all know that there was infighting at Real between Mourinho and Jorge Valdano, but that has stopped now. So it looks like Mourinho is staying at Real, therefor sign Contrao.
IF Marcelo is available then we should not try and sign him, as our natural LB. He's a carbon copy of Glen Johnson. He's very good going forward, but not so good defensively.

theo walcott blitzed him last year and on wednesday, so i think barca will be sniffing around coentrao (correct spelling) + the eds seem to think we won't get him. hhmmmm barca or liverpool?

Liverpool are planning a £60 mil spending spree in the summer and their will be a squad overhaul. Konchesky, poulson, Skrtel, Kyriakos, insua, aurellio, ngog will all be making way for new arrivals.

I also don, t see us spending 22m on Coentrao when i think we can get Enrique for around the 8-10m, Due to his contract running down and his lack of signing a new contract. This would then allow us the futher 12-14m to bring in Adam who i reckon will come for 6m cos also his contract situation and the fact he has stuck by and worked hard for Blackpool.
I then see us bringing in a few more younger players and that's as much as we will spend, i don, t think the onwers are stupid and just cos they spent big in the transfer window everyone seems to think it will continue which it will not.
I agree with the add on here we are signing Adams that's a pretty much given as for Tawio forget it dream world and Conterao(spelling) even bigger dream world plus he isn't he greatest is he lets be honest leighton baines is a far better signing and is more realistic think we'll sign 4 or 5 players in the summer

Its reported that Liverpool will go back in for Ibrahim Afellay after miising out on him last summer. He is out of favour at Barcelona and Kenny is reported to be keen on bringing him to Liverpool. I don't know much about him do you ed? Thanks.
Mr T. {ed's note - technically gifted attacking midfielder, mostly left footed from what I have seen, but I am not sure there is any chance he will be leaving this soon after joining Barca myself. I think it extremely unlikely.}

Everyone is talkind about Turan, Coentrao and 100 mil spending. . What I believe is going to happen is this: we will sign 2 more expensive youngsters from this country - Wickham and that winger Chamberlain - and that would be the best business we can do. I would also go for Lucas Digne (left back, 16 or 17 year old). This website educated me about "Liverpool Way" and I believe that would be the right way to go.

Liverpools french scout is to spend a lot of time watching mathieu valbuena and with regards to turan being a red it should be remembered it was only a couple of seasons back he was saying he loved arsenal when wenger was linked with him

Squad improvement should only be on the basis of quality. The left back position has really one option and that is Fabio Coentrao. A lfc fan and that will solve the LB problems once and for all. At 22 he has a bright future and i am sure if we go for him he will definitely prefer lfc over the other teams.

i don't think liverpool will go for Asamoah Gyan because a) only joined sunderland in the summer and will take a bit of money to land him b)he is a good striker but to be fair he is not quality enough for us

I've read that Turan is now a Chelsea target, which I really hope is not true. I'd hope that we'd make a bid if he's available, at the very least, and I'd be surprised if we didn't - considering he was always a player that Kenny had rated and wanted LFC to sign. I think it's looking increasingly likely that Chelsea will also be in the EL next season, so we'd be on an even playing field if we are competing for his signature (he has said that he's a fan, so that should swing it in our favour). I'd love to see him at Anfield, I must admit.
I've also read that Wickham is likely to sign for Spurs in the Summer. I think this would be a travesty. I don't think that it'd be the best move for him in the long term and that he'd spend far too much time on the bench. If we're not going to bid for him (and I'm not convinced that we're looking to in the near-future), I think he'd either be better off staying at Ipswich, or going to a club where he'd be in the first team and a regular starter. I've got a good friend who is an Ipswich fan and he loves this guy and rates him up there with the best - he could be absolutely amazing, with the right encouragement.
Enrique looks to be nailed on, however, and I think this is good news. I can see him really doing well for us and we do need a LB (despite how well Johnson has done in cover). The likes of Coentrao (sp?) were always unlikely and I wouldn't want to see us wasting our time getting into a bidding war with the likes of Real and paying over 20M for a LB. Especially when there's no guarantees that he'll do the job in the PL.

Rumour is that Chelsea are now looking at buying Arda Turan, really hope that we keep our interest up in him as I would hate to see him in a Chelsea kit next season. He says he's a RED so lets see if its true.
