Just a question to th Ed's.
Do LFC have an issue identifying genuine talent? Not having a go but we seem to have had opportunities in the past to sign young quality players, who in some cases even sent out "come get me" plea to LFC. players such as Aguero, Turan, Van der Vaart. Its my understanding we had an opportunity to sign Aguero for 15m when he was 18. Every body knew he was mustard but we let it pass us by. I might not need a knew pair of Nike's, but if I see latest pair for 20 quid, I buy them.
Are we asleep at the wheel.
Thanks
RedfernRed {Ed005's Note - We have no issue at all mate we just don't go for them. Why? I don't really know. But you've only really named 3 examples there anyway, and in all honesty did VDV ever issue a rallying cry to LFC? I don't recall that. As for Turan, he is a good player but lacks consistency from what I've seen, a bit of a flash in the pan player at times, maybe that contributed to it.}

Yer but the large % of players we have bought are pretty consistant ....consistancy crap at least these players have a bad game now and then not always {Ed005's Note - Look only Dalglish knows why we didn't sign Turan I'm just trying to explain why we may have not moved for him. You asked.}

Ed0005 - and Stewart Downing is really the epitome of consistency at £20 million, I would rather take the flash in the pan for a lot less!! {Ed005's Note - What's that got to do with me? I got asked about Turan and gave a reason why I think he wasn't signed and gave a reason. It isn't my fault he is inconsistent and that we spent £20m for Downing. Anyway, we wouldn't have got him last Summer as he wasn't available so I don't see how Downing is relevant to Turan.}

Aguero was offered to us for 12m when he was 18 but parry and moores between them didnt think he was worth the risk.

Did we not scoff at buying Ronaldo before he became big? Make you wonder if he would still have been the ponce he is today, if he had of come to us!

Saying all this, the likes of Sterling and Suso will hopefully prove we can find them at a young age. Just need to keep them happy now.

Keith

Liverpool stutter too much with signings and lose it. Seems to have a problem making decisons about players. Benetiz had the right idea and if it wasn't for Rick Parry we would have signed Ronaldo, vidic, mata and Silva when we were at our peak in 2005 when Liverpool were attractive. Went backwards from there.

Sly sports sources say Newcastle have bid for Luuk De Jong.
We will see if we are interested as will need to bid soon if we want to get him.
If he goes to Newcastle i can see Soldado signing.

luuk de jong to Newcastle for 8 mill

18 Jun 2012 23:12:54
hi eds

is it true newcastle have bid 8 million for luk de jong.

another one weve missed out on.

chrissy {Ed005's Note - Deary me I knew people would flipping moan. "Another we've missed out on". Who else did we miss out on this Summer? (International Window not even open yet). De Jong was a very serious target under Dalglish and things may have changed under Rodgers so if he doesn't go to Liverpool it is an indication that Rodgers either doesn't want him or didn't prioritise him. So if he goes somewhere else please don't start moaning that we missed out etc.}

Bigger question for me- why does Newcastle want him and what does that mean for Ba and Cisse? Summer should be very interesting.

RDL

Chrissy, put a sock in it. Try & understand what thye ED is saying! You'd probably never heard of the player until speculation started on this site.

18 Jun 2012 23:12:22
Newcastle had made a bid of 8m for luuk de Jong do you think Liverpool will match that ?
Bobcat

18 Jun 2012 23:03:58
A lot of recurrent/persistent rumours about Sigurdsson, Sturridge and Krasic. If we got the trio I would be very satisfied. Throw in Ramirez and I will be over the moon. Just rumpus ofcourse, but all sound very reasonable.

Sly sports just reported Newcastle have bidded for Luuk De Jong. Is this true ed ? and do you expect us to push for him and bid now?
Josh {Ed005's Note - It is up to Rodgers whether he wants De Jong or not. He was watched and a serious target under Dalglish and that may have changed.}

18 Jun 2012 23:15:18
Newcastle bid 8 million for de Jong report on sly spurts news do you expect Liverpool to enter the bidding.

Clee red {Ed028's Note - I dont think for one minute he will end up at newcastle...especially for a price as low as 8 million , i dont think rodgers is interested in him}

I think he is dont want him maybe soldado

18 Jun 2012 22:41:39
Any chance in edin dzeko an or Adam Johnson from city I think these two will be out of favour again come august. Wa u think Eds?

P.S. I expect Gylfi Sigurdsson to be done late June early July!

Eric ynwa {Ed005's Note - I don't think there's any chance of Dzeko mate and I think if A.Johnson becomes available we'll be interested but personally I can't see us dishing out £20m for Johnson.}

Liverpool dished out 23 for henderson and 20 for downing so why not 20 for johnson {Ed005's Note - He is a good player on form but when does he every play, and how does he merit a £20m price-tag when he's always on the bench? There are also problems with his personal life. Atleast Downing played regularly for Villa and played very well for them - Henderson played regularly for Sunerland and is a prospect. Anyway that's my opinion, if you'd be happy to pay that for Johnson fair enough mate. I do think he's a good player though.}

I'd rather go for other players.. Johnson isn't worth 20 mil.. just like Downing wasnt..

18 Jun 2012 22:40:39
well looks like were too slow again newcastle have bid for luuk de jong

blackpool red {Ed005's Note - Too slow? Why? Is our fax machone £20m years older than Newcastle's or something? I'm pretty sure £8m will be turned down for De Jong and if Newcastle do get him it doesn't mean we've lost out so don't go into over-drive with the anger. We have a new manager with new ideas so maybe De Jong wasn't wanted by BR.}

Wise up !

18 Jun 2012 22:36:43
sly have said newcastle has launched an 8million bid for de jong be gutted if we don't get him

Alec {Ed005's Note - I don't think £8m will get De Jong to be honest I think another 5-6m is needed.}

I dont think he'd be a success in england wouldnt want him at anfield

18 Jun 2012 22:36:01
if a big money striker becomes available and would like a move to liverpool, eg in the region of £25-40 million pounds. Would the club finance the move?

One last question, if you could pick any striker and winger that would be realistic signings, who would you pick?

please post this, and i would appreciate a response eds. Also if anyone else would like to give their opinions!

thanks,
WE LOVE JIMRIE {Ed028's Note - it could be a possibility & if i could take anyone id love affellay as my winger i think hes a real star and for striker...i wouldnt say its realistic but llorente is an amazing striker and could adapt to rodgers "STYLE"}

18 Jun 2012 22:51:51
I'm good friends with Michael Johnson. We played together at everton in 04 but we where both ditched anyway I was speaking to him on the phone last night an he said Vladimir Weiss may join us (im a red) this summer. He's a pretty honest lad Johno so I don't think he would say it if there wasn't nothing in it.

Thought I'd share.

He said Johno se he clearly personally know him. nice try for a rumour anyway

Thanks for the low down and its obvious you know him quite well because you called him "johno"gotta love the real insider shtuff

Who's Weiss? Seriously?

Was on loan to Rangers last season wasn't he? Looks a decent prospect, but no more than that.

18 jun 2012 22:51:18
ed what type of striker would rodgers be looking to sign and could you suggest someone fits the profile? {ed028's note - i personally think we have two great strikers right now but we need to play them together not alone. if there on the pitch together they will have extra support but if push comes to shove and we do bring in a new striker id love for it to be luuk de jong...hes a young and gifted player who certainly knows how to score goals!}

Ed 28. Who are the two great strikers we have? Looking at scoring last season, I don't see them

18 Jun 2012 22:33:13
With Giroud leaving Montpellier, do you think Belhanda will follow? If so, where would he most likely go? Also Ill take this chance to get my ten cents worth on Giroud... I think he will do ok for Arsenal but this could be a sign that RVP is off and also I think Podolski is extremeley over rated! Cheers mate {Ed001's Note - he is replacing Chamakh, nothing to do with RVP.}

Well Eds looks like RVP could be out the door, both Podolski and Giroud are left footers I think, and RVP as we know has a smashing leftie. To me his departure looks imminent! No need for 3 lefties in the front line!

Just glad were not the ones signing Podgy and Giro:
Wenger as we all know "Has lost the plot!"

18 Jun 2012 22:15:09
Any chance in Jesus Navas or Pablo Hernandez for our winger problem Eds? Also any chance in Alvaro Negredo or Roberto Soldado? For our striker problem?

Greatmanjonalfc {Ed028's Note - Its hard to tell right now tbh but i would rule out Hernandez and Navas for sure}

18 Jun 2012 20:32:29
Hi Eds- after watching Croatias 3 games what's the crack with manzukic in all games I thought he has looked decent would be worth a punt and doubt he cost to much?? {Ed001's Note - Wolfsburg are backed by VW, they can afford to keep him, but he would probably be available for 10m or so.}

Mandzukic is available on a free this summer.

JR

18 Jun 2012 20:32:09
Hi eds great site

If johnson leaves any chance we would look at abate from Ac milan ?

Cheers keep up the great work {Ed001's Note - I have heard of no interest in him.}

Good player Abate, but what age is he? he's bn around awhile

I believe kelly deserves a chance even if johnson stays hes homegrown.in recent times we have being developing players and selling them for pennies.so why buy in some other rb because i think rodgers is gonna improve all our players young and old alike.YNWA.

18 Jun 2012 20:08:47
Is it true we have interest in llorente? would you like him at the club? You think he would join us? Please answer, be much apreciated.

Cheers, jimrie. {Ed002's Note - Fernando Llorente is interesting Spurs, PSG and Manchester City. Barcelona are considering their future options which may involve a move for the player.}

Isn't he 27 now? No point in getting him as he'd cost a lot and I doubt he'd do any better than Andy

Didn't llorente laugh at the prospect of joining Liverpool not so long back? In fact i think he is still laughing now. {Ed001's Note - no, he laughed at the prospect of Marcelo Bielsa taking charge.}

18 Jun 2012 19:49:12
Hi edds, long to reader first time post. What are the chances of LFC getting Higuian if a converted push was made, it seems as if he's unhappy at Madrid and we'd certainly be able to drum up the funds, I know we're not CL atm but hey he might like playing more football seeing as Benzema is ahead of him in the pecking order, could be the forward we need, I know its a long shot, but what is your take on this?
YoungRedJ {Ed002's Note - He will not be moving to Liverpool.}

Perhaps higuain on a loan move would be good and doable if hes not being used but dont see madrid letting him off hes still a class act

18 Jun 2012 19:37:28
Hello Eds great site. What's the chances of signing seydou doumbia ( new drogba) {Ed002's Note - There was an enquiry from Newcastle and a failed offer from Lazio in January for Doumbia. Other clubs have had scouts at games but that is some way from making any serious enquiries for the player. Doumbia does a good job of talking himself up and CSKA will likely want £25M or so for the player as there is no pressure to sell. Napoli, Roma and Arsenal are interested in the player but have yet to make any financial proposal and rumours persist of interest from Chelsea and Spurs. Someone putting a bid on the table will make this much more high profile - and it could be one that drags on all summer.}

18 Jun 2012 19:02:07
{Ed022's Note - Just thought I'd let you know that the Player-Profile on Luuk De Jong has now been updated to let everyone know who is most likely for his signature, as well as general comments on the player to give you all more information on the lad. www.player-profiles.co.uk - cheers all.}

Latest news; NEWCASTLE bid 8M for
LUK DE JONG.......

auntie annie......

18 Jun 2012 19:54:24
Is the rumours that say LFC have opened discussions with CSKA Moscow over Seydou Doumbia true?

I doubt it

Hope So He is Good!

Eds, do you know if the rumours are true? {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware, his agent has been trying to claim interest from all and sundry for a long time. I think it is just more of that as he wants out of where he is.}

HOOOOONNNNDDDAAAAA !!

Would rather see us go for Keisuke Honda!

18 Jun 2012 19:00:16
Eds, what's the chances of kalou joining Liverpool please?

{Ed006's Note - I hope it is slim.}

You're being too kind. I hope we don't have a chance.

Headless chicken no thanks, a poor mans darren bent

I don't understand why everyone is so down on Kalou joining. He is a decent player and would add something to our team on a free transfer

I was at Anfield on Friday night at a dinner and was told by a stadium official that Anfield is to be redeveloped to a near 60,000 stadium rather than move to e new stadium. This has been discussed at board level and will be discussed at length in the new season. This to me makes sense based on the current climate. A new Anfield road stand, extended lop and extension to the main stand.

My only question is can they do all the redevelopment and still play games during the season at Anfield? If not were would they play?

JoeThunder

And a right mess it will look. The Cheap and Nasty Sports Kit Arena in Newcastle might hold 52, 000 but it looks awful with three totally contrasting sides. This stinks of yet another cheap alternative from penny pinching yanks. Theses two are not much better than H & G.

John Henry has already stated that he is not planning to expand or move stadium to a bigger capacity because he believes the liverpool community will not be able to afford the prices if it had 60'000 seats. Instead he is planning to sell rights and get sponsors. you can read on

When did Henry say that? He said that all options were being considered, and that the cost of the expansion or the new stadium would have to make sense financially, and Ayre has said that naming right are essential to the whole thing. But I don't recall Henry, Werner, Ayre or anyone else with power in the club saying that nothing is going to happen.

Verdad

My only question is can they do all the redevelopment and still play games during the season at Anfield? If not were would they play?

JoeThunder
----------------------------------------

Might be a blessing Liverpool played like absolute **** last year at anfield.

Personally, I think an extended lop is long overdue.....

Mrpjd

Great original post.....

BOMBSHELL NEWS: Redeveloping Anfield and extending the 'lop' has been discussed at LFC Board Level!!

I agree (and hope) that Anfield will be re-developed to 60-65,000 capacity. This 'update' did make me laugh though.

Keep em comin Reds!

Red G

I heard a similar thing at the Didi Hamann Dinner Event at Anfield a few months back. The tour guide/security guard asked what the group thought and he leaned towards the redevelopment route.

drumz

No henry has already said he is not looking to expand or move stadium!

18 Jun 2012 18:36:09
i think iverpool should buy benzema real madrid dont want hm going pretty cheap could snap him up for 20 mil what do you think?

Benzema had a great season for madrid which is why hes france's main striker at the euros and was a vocal point of madrid winning the league what makes you think they dont want him

Behave, not a dog's chance of him coming here. markynwa

Stick to Fifa kid, u know nothing about real football, Benzema scored 30+ goals for Madrid last season and is first choice up front ahead of Higuain and would cost a lot more than 20 million

Barry 4256

20 mil? Cheap? We aren't being given a war chest like the last transfer budget, so to spend 20 mil on a player for us will be somewhat expensive this window I should think.

He cost madrid carroll money and he'sdoing well so probablytry your luck at 50 or 45

I think they should buy him too, and messi oh and ronaldo why not but realistly not gonna happen was his best season for real + champions league football + rediculous wages people need to get real

Red man

People just haven't caught on yet have they? The days when we could splash a small fortune around [ often for rubbish players ] is long gone. Our spending will be very carefully controlled and IF we do make 1 big signing it will have to be subsidised by the sale of a number of fringe players from our present squad.

Real Madrid doesn't want him? God where have been the last couple of months? I hardly think he'll go, and if not, certainly not for 20M... ;)

John

They obiusly want him hes ter best striker

18 Jun 2012 18:35:00
Hey ed005, I just saw the rumour about Rondon coming to the club, do you know if we have any interest in him mate? Cheers Scouserseb {Ed005's Note - There are rumours but we are in for a striker it seems. Could be a number of players in all honesty.}

What striker is it that we are in for ed? {Ed005's Note - It's only rumours at the moment but I'm sure there are some top strikers on the agenda - there are plenty of realistic ones around.}

18 Jun 2012 16:43:00
Oliver Giroud has signed for arsenal are our scouts on holiday or something. Now they have 3 top strikers and we have 1 and he will probably be sold. No chance of top 6 forget about top 4 with the players it seems rodgers is after. Arsenal look like they have a way better team as do chelsea and the to manchester clubs will always be in the top 4. Looks like mid table for us again {Ed005's Note - What an idiot you are mate. The minute I seen Giroud was going to Arsenal I knew little babies like you would throw the toys out of the pram and complain that we aren't getting anyone - when the international transfer window hasn't even opened yet. For a start, it's not as if they beat us to his signing, or Podolski's. So it's not as if we're losing our targets. Secondly, if scouts are on holiday, why does it matter? Do we need scouts to make transfer offers? Do we need scouts to talk to players? Do we need scouts to sign players? No. We have are own targets and we'll concentrate on getting them - Sigurdsson might be coming soon so what's the deal? Do we have to wait on scouts to come back to polish his shoes? And lets not get over the top, Giroud has had a good season but this is the only time he's been prolific in an average Ligue One so he has a heck of a lot to prove in the PL. Podolski is no better - he made the step up and failed at Bayern so he also has a lot to prove. I'd be more worried if they signed two forwards like Higuain or Llorente!}

That told you lol

I totally agree Ed005 - i read this website daily and still remain as shocked as ever that people react like this! This guy had probably not even heard of Giroud before the Euro's started!

Trust in LFC and BR or bugger off and support Chelski or City who can buy players like playing Championship manager!

Well said eds, clearly they signed him because RVP is leaving you person leaving them with 2 average strikers and no top player capable of scoring 30+ goals in a PL season

Somebody call an ambulance we need to get this guy to the BURN ward.

Typical FIFA Fan

Shouldnt people be thinking that at least the guy wants the best for our club instead of people saying in Brendan we trust. We should all be sceptical considering our last few seasons.

Spot on eddo5, it makes me laugh, remember we missed out on chamak, wickham etc, what they doin now?
Carrol and suarez or podolski and giroud?? Id take our front line all day!

Billynwa

This is probably the strongest indication that RVP is leaving so I really would not worry.

And lets also remember the last time Arsenal "beat" us to a top striker - Chamakh. He turned out to be a real flop. Just because you look good in Ligue 1 doesn't mean you will be a hit in PL. Also interesting to see if Hazard is as good as he thinks he is.

Arsenal would have outlined their targets months ago, we have had a new manager for about one month. Plus when have arsenal ever gone into thw transfer market this early? More to it then you think (original poster).

Getting a pain in my hole with these nay sayers arsenal this city that utd the other we are liverpool fc and rogers deserves the chance he will do well lets all get behind him hes a young man..the season has not even started and to me hes a better man to have there than hodgson benitez and the king because he has not made one bad move.and if you look at the possibles to be sold im impressed YNWA

And Chu-Young, Chamakh and especially Gervinho (lol) were big hits for arsenal weren't they? I know this is a bit naive, but if Giroud was anything special I think we'd have heard a bit more about him, and he would play a bigger role for france..

Marouane Chamakh mk II

Go on ed005 put the whinger back in his box..love it!

All hail Ed005

Sorry ed but i don't agree with you .. firstly , arsenal don't need someone like higuain or llorente as a BACKUP for van persie . Secondly , you say players like podolski and giroud ( top goalscorer ) aren't class while sigurdsson ( who we are getting ) is a top class player and will be the best playmaker in premier league right ? .. please post don't be a dictator and don't post things that don't agree with your point of view {Ed005's Note - So you don't want me to post things that disagree with mine? That would be silly and would be very unfair on anyone posting. And I don't recall saying they weren't class - I said they have a lot to prove at Arsenal for perfectly viable reasons so do read what I write. I said Podolski went to a top club at Bayern and failed, doesn't he have a lot to prove at Arsenal? There is a lot to prove for him and Giroud. Giroud has to show he has the ability to be prolific in the PL and again, questions asked as he's only had one prolific in a lower standard Ligue One. Perfectly viable. I'm not saying they are bad - I rate Podolski highly and don't know much about Giroud. Also Sigurdsson has a lot to prove at Liverpool of course - but one thing I like is that he's shown he can do it in a top league and he's only 22. Also, this is a site where opinions are shared and debated and I refuse to delete posts I don't agree with for one, but I also will give my opinion when and if I want. That's not being a dictator. It's voicing my opinion, especially against fickle idiots who blow their tops when another club signs a player. If you don't want the eds to post or speak then by all means we won't answer any questions again regarding transfers?}

Ed005 drops bombs like ***********! you tell that goat. rvp is on his way out and the gunners defence is average at best

Well said Ed005

RedSG

Ed005 that Answer was Brilliant .. hope all cry-babies will now shut up . BR have not assessed the team yet , a RW & a Striker was already needed .. so those 2 & Sigurdsson perhaps gonna be the only signings we will make except there are some departures & consequent void left to fill

Bit harsh ed005. There is no need to call someone a baby no matter how much you disagree with his point. {Ed005's Note - Calling him a baby was nothing to do with lack of agreement to his point - I was just calling him what he is. Come on read what he said. Too many of our fans are babies now and maybe if we stopped moaning and got behind the team more they'd be doing better on the field and there would be a much more positive vibe around the club.}

Ed005 there is something you don't understand about scouts. We obviously need them to watch the likes of giroud to see how well they sit on the bench. Or watch how gylfi takes the plane to England from Germany.

Spot on Ed - what an utter a***- call yourself a supporter - well i dont and you're not and i dont want to be supporting a team that just goes out and buys success at any price anyway. i'd rather we had players who want to play for us and stay out their contracts - go support CITEH, jerk

Ed! wheres the like button to your post lol

Nice one 005! ha

Podgy and Giro will be massive flops!
Didn't you know that Wenger has lost the plot:)

i know it's pretty much wrapped up, but just a thought anyway, Markus Babbel is the Hoffenheim manager. Could his relationship with Liverpool benefit is in the Sigurdsson deal? {Ed005's Note - I highly doubt it would regardless of who is manager at that club. Markus Babbel wants what is best for his club and his job there so he won't be dishing out any favours to anyone.}

18 Jun 2012 17:39:49
Liverpool will sign Salomon Rondon for £9 million. Set to meet his representatives in the next couple of weeks.

NT

Rondon is sh*te

I'd be amazed if Malaga sold us Rondon for 9 mill. It's not as if they need to sell to buy, is it?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed005's Note - Word is they have their eyes on one or two bigger names mate, and want to free up their non-EU allocation to free up space to add one/two more non-EU signings. That is just speculation coming from Spain though.}

And chelski are after him with a possible 20mill bid

Thanks Ed005 mate, didn't know that. Could this rumour have any legs mate? Heard anything?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed005's Note - Just heard the rumours mate and apparantly the fee they want for him is well within our price range. I would certainly be excited enough if we were interested in him - he seems suited to the PL and as well as being a good finisher he is strong and good in the air. Hope it happens if true.}

He has caught my eye a couple of times whilst playing for Malaga , dont know too much about him but looked quick and strong

Was once compared to llorente.If he is that good and less than half the price get in there boys.

18 Jun 2012 17:38:27
Not to sure why my post don't get on the website?

Liverpool are to put a bid in to sign Daniel Sturridge for £15m, is there any truth in this?

Matt {Ed002's Note - They have not spoken with Chelsea - at least not yet.}

Ed2 u reckon liverpool will speak with chelsea ovr sturridge? they really want him then?tanx

majestic69 {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. Obviously if Sturridge were to tell Chelsea he wants to leave the club would not stand in his way.}

He isnt good enough for us

18 Jun 2012 17:33:36
According to my sources Liverpool are close to signing Sigurdsson and Rondon.
If all goes well both could be Liverpool players at the end of next week the latest.

Please do not shoot the messenger
I'm just passing on what I hear...

Cheers

Phil F

You mean what you read on another forum I think.

This would be a good bit of business imo, rondon was good last year, just hope he's not a one season wonder

18 Jun 2012 17:12:24
steve clarke is set to make an offer for midfielder jay spearing.... please let this be true!!

I second that sentiment ....please take spearo

Biggest Red in South Africa

Spearing, while not setting the midfield alight, is a good solid squad player who has been rather useful when we've been stretched with injuries or suspensions. Just be careful what you wish for. {Ed005's Note - Really? Since Lucas got injured he's been pretty shocking from what I've seen and has looked well out of his depth against bigger sides.}

Good i hope he goes. He is not good enough for Liverpool

Please god if theres any truth in this i'll drive spearing to West Brom myself

I think spearing aint a bad lil player hes to short but has good scouse heart pumping his blood i hope he has a great career but i also hope it is at a smaller club with less pressure

JS is not good enough for Liverpool - FACT. Carragher needs to retire now to shore up his legacy... Diame and coates to fill in I would suggest.

Fairplay hes decent player just not good enough for Lfc.

I will chip in a tenner to get rid of him. He cost us several games last season all on his own. Never a Premiership player let alone a Liverpool player.

Jay Spearing would do wonders for a team like west brom,stoke, for example he would be like there xavi or inesta hahah.... shame he is pretty useless for Liverpool when he plays

I agree that he is a good lad but we can't keep average players because they are scousers!

Good luck to both Steve and Jay if that is so. He did have some decent games but sadly failed to grab his chance when Lucas got injured.

Haha hilarious, poor little jay spearing. not bad sub to have. shame of it is, he was a better player before kenny became manager

God i wish

Please take him away , good player but not good enought for liverpool fc.

For the last time would people stop saying Jay Spearing is a Scouser?! He's from Ellesmere Port which is Cheshire! Besides being scouse doesn't get you in the team the fact we played Spearing so frequently only highlighted the lack of quality in depth we have.

I seem to remember Lucas wasn't good enough for LFC once upon a time. Why not let the club decide who they keep?

Eds, do you think Sterling will go out on loan this season? {Ed002's Note - There is perhaps a chance - but he can't until after Christmas.}

Doesn't Sterlings contract run out next summer? Or has he signed an extension?

Why cant he until after christmas? {Ed002's Note - Too young.}

Liverpool FC to make a bid of £15m for Daniel Sturridge

Any truth in this Ed

Thanks

Matt {Ed005's Note - I don't think there is serious interest in him mate maybe there's slight interest but we could get far better value for £15m than Sturridge.}

I dont think we could get better for 15 million hes gunna b top class

We could get both Krasic and Tello for 14m

In my honest opinion i dont think we should be going for sturridge, if we're looking to play a passing game he wont fit it cause he doesnt pass the ball

Hi Eds
Do you know the latest on the Aquilani situation? I know its probably rubbish as its on caughtoffside.com but they say were going to loan him out again. Surely this can't be true surely someone in the Italian league would give us at least £5 mill for him

thanks

RedDan {Ed005's Note - I personally think Brendan Rodgers will look to ship him out. Is it a loan or permanent? Don't think anyone knows at the moment mate. I'd prefer we just sold him even for £4m or so and got his wages off the bill.}

hey ed. aparently Madrid want David silva right? well i have two questions about that!

1) do you think he will go?
2)who wouldleave if he does. would that not meen albiol is leaving? or does ozil want out? not saying we will get any just a question

thanks JLFC {Ed005's Note - I can't see him leaving Man City. He is a key player there and lets face it they don't exactly need the money. If he goes to R.Madrid why would that mean Albiol, a CB, leaving? Surely it would have implications on the futures of Granero or Kaka. And Ozil isn't activly seeking to leave Real Madrid as far as I know mate.}

Sorry i meant sahin nor albiol {Ed005's Note - They play in different positions but I can see Sahin leaving because of his injury problems in recent times.}

Here's the lowdown on Wanyama;

1.BR was VERY interested in signing him while he was at Swansea.

2. There is no reason why he would not still be interested in him now. Victor's quoted price is relatively low for a player of his quality. Additionally, he is only 20 years old, therefore his value can only increase from now on.

3. He is 6'2" and is built like a tank, just like his brother. Sadly, Spearing has the physique of a jockey.

4. He isn't in a hurry to leave Celtic because of his age, and because of the availability of UCL football (one reason why he may opt for Chelsea over us)

I will try to get some info while I'm here in Nairobi. His brother (Mariga) would have been a good signing for us as well, but unfortunately he is undergoing rehab after having his ACL reconstructed.
The national team is due back soon after another disappointing performance, this time in Togo. Local journalists will start prying for info Wanyama's future asap.

According to my source (who got the Henderson, Enrique and Downing deals spot on btw) that Sigurdsson is having a medical in the next few days, they've enquirered about Cristian Tello and the boy fancies it and that we have a definite interest in Benedikt Höwedes of Schalke, regardless of any departures in the CB department. Rodgers is also really keen on the Muniain kid from Bilbao. Ramirez and A. Johnson are also being looked at and there is firm interest.

Please sign the post so when your wrong i can tell you what an person you and your source are! Big Mike

Sorry to disappoint you but Tello is staying at Barcelona he does not want to leave.

Just name every player that has been linked over the past few weeks lol. Is your source liverpool-rumours.co.uk lol

Hi there, just an update on my rumour last week that Higuain is one of the major signings FSG + BR are hoping to pull off this summer.. a fee is far from being agreed but discussions are apparently underway between ourselves and his representatives. Not saying its a definate but discussions are underway! Heard it here first

Red_Sebastian

How do you know

Honestly i hope i'm wrong but i realy think your making it !!

"Heard it here first"?

Are you joking? People have been saying that before you my friend.

Doesn't stop it being rubbish though.

Tristan

At least you left your name

That would be nice!

A fee has far from been agreed ! What a ridiculous post this.

Liverpool are also interested in messi although a fee has from been agreed.

I have a source that has confirmed a number of transfers in the past, he is in the know with both liverpool and occasionally everton.. not saying it is 100% definately going to happen just saying what I've heard! The guy told me about the charlie adam/henderson/torres leaving deals way before they actually happened and they are just to name a few occasions of when he has been correct. Trust me I am not making it up

Red_Sebastian

Just saying what I've heard from a reliable source, if you don't believe me thats your choice but in future I just won't air my views which is a real disappointment for the 10 people that clicked believable. Shameful really some of the jokers on here ridiculing me for posting information

Hiya mate,
thanks for the tipoff but if you do a search on this site you will find that you certainly didn`t `hear it here first`,
hard luck and keep taking the tablets.

Higuain is a great player, and I have wanted him suarez and podolski since the world cup but, I don't think he would fit into the team. He just sort of runs at defenders and scores some how, no real trickery. There are better options for liverpool. and ed I am sure there are loads of loyal people on this page that would love to help you out with the traffic. {Ed005's Note - Isn't that sort of the point mate, to run and score somehow? lol. Higuain is an excellent player in my opinion and one of the best finishers in the world. But I respect that you have your own opinion though.}

Why are some Liverpool fans excited about just about anyone we have been linked with for transfers so far? FSG are keeping their cards close to their chest so no one other than those in the need-to-know have any clue who we are actually going after in regards to transfers and I appluad them for it. However, why are people excited about any of the players the media has linked us with? If we do indeed bring them on I will support them and I will gladly eat my words if they turn out well but these 5-8M foreign players and the same caliber "homegrown" players 15-20M of course are not really worth getting excited about other than to just see something happen. I want to see new guys coming in as much as anyone but Podolski to Arsenal for a reported 16M would be worth getting excited about. 16M for A. Johnson is not really worth getting to worked up about, I rate him as a quality player but not at that rate not to mention his wage demands and I would be a bit worried about his attitude as well. Remember being linked with David Villa, Coentrao, The deadline day miss for Danny Alves, Benzema, Van Der Vaart, Klose, Turin all rumoured in the past 3 years or so Alves may have been 4 years ago. Anyway the most exciting player we have been linked with thus far has been Cavani & Rameriz but no one here even believes that is actually possible. We should be setting our sights higher Rafa bought a whole raft of players in the 5 - 10M range and except for a very few most of them have washed out. I mean the reported cost for Wilson was 5M and he looks to be going no where fast. If we had to raid the Rangers we should have waited a little longer and went for Jelavic whos dad/agent was practically begging us to make a move for him. If I recall correctly the majority of press turned their noses up on him. Now everyone is looking at 5 minute youtube highlights and saying yeah he is class we should bring him in. If you add up all of the washed out player fees and wages minus the pennance they were sold for and added that onto our few success stories it would probably be 20M+ per hit anyway so why shoot for two 20+ players from strong leagues which will greatly lower the risk (though does not negate it) and get people really excited. And if we could possibly not pay the max price for everyone that would be cool to.

Anyway, my 2 would be Thomas Muller (before you start in on his estimated transfer value take 2 minutes to google his current situation with Bayern) and Yann M'Vila

If we end up keeping Cole and Aquaman then we should be done. If Aquaman and his wages take a hike bring in Siggurdsson if Cole remembers talking trash about liverpool and remmebers he wants to stay french see if we can get Dempsey for a reasonable fee.

Thats Real,
Coley

Well said

I think you will find Wilson was half a million, not 5 million.Aquaman has to go and I doubt Cole will be around but I don't think Dempsey would help much.We shall see .
CR

You completely contradicted your whole email when you mentioned Siggurdsson and Dempsey

You really don't know much do you, we need to strengthen certain areas, striker, left back, right wing are all areas where we need players, we also need quality off the bench, we need a decent squad

Coley,

if you think Muller is going to come to Liverpool you are deluded.

Face the facts, we are not in the CL and haven't been for YEARS. We don't offer massive wages, and our position in the league has been far from desirable, with 3 managers in 3 seasons now. It isn't easy to accept as a Liverpool fan but we can't any longer buy in the World Class players we did in 2005/6/7. We now need "the best of the rest" hence the deals for Downing and Adam previously... and we have to hope we unearth some hidden gems to fire us back up to the CL. Tottenham will finish nowhere near the CL spots this year, I don't think Everton have the financial capacity, and that probably leaves us to fight Newcastle for 5th.

Adam Johnson, Milos Krasic and dare I say it even Sigurddson are signings to "get excited about" because they will improve the team. If we keep our decent players and build on the squad we can improve, but we have to hope the likes of Gerrard, Suarez, Caroll and Lucas stay injury free and on form. We are not going to be signing Ramirez IF other parties are interested because we can't match their wages. Unfortunately these players don't want history, they want huge wages and CL football, which at the moment we can't offer.... so in short, yes we are excited about the above players because thats the best we'll get and it'll improve the team!

Os Red

What happens to Lucas if Yann M'Villa comes in, neither would like to be back up would they?

Keith

It's all well and good wishing we could buy 2 x 20M players "to get us excited" when we can't actually attract them to the club due to CL possibilities elsewhere. That's why Rafa managed it but KK didn't and neither will BR. The trick is, to sign players that might get us back into the CL at reasonable prices, then buy established players when CL (money) is available. Risks need to be taken now, the same risks that were originally taken on Bale, Modric, Cisse, Ba, Cabay, etc, etc.

It is real its unREAListic

Well said mate, if we got Thomas MĆ¼ller I can't explain how excited I would be

Yes, but we had the champions league with rafa, whereas we finished 8th this year..... Arsenal can draw in players like podolski and reportedly m'vila because they are in the champions league!
We need to be realistic with who we are signing, as name recognition will only go so far nowadays.

So which players would you like Liverpool to sign who would "excite" you? Realism is an ideal that doesn't sit well with us Liverpool fans....

You have some points, and you are wrong on others. I believe we are looking at player we CAN buy - as much as we'd all like Muller, he simply is not realistic, while M'villa for instance is overpriced - better try several cheaper players with the potential to be stars.

Drigan

The bottom line? No-0ne knows what players will come in. Pointless speculation is just desperation. Pointless speculation is frankly futile. No-0ne apart from Brendan Rodgers and FSG know anything at all. So it would be best if we all remained completely silent. The only fact in this whole matter? Liverpool FC Will have eleven players on the park at the start of next season.

Didn't read it. Huge block of text...

Coley, i dont understand you, your saying look at these 5-8m players. Look at newcastle, they got linked with them and now look getting likes of ben arfa, cabaye, cisse, ba !

They were all pretty cheap for players with such quality.

In brendad we trust, he is the man for the job and will be the one who brings the glory days back.

LFCHero :)!

Wowie Zowie

I agree you completely contradicted yourself! Stick to writing novels or better still...comic books!!

Okay first the mention of Siggurdsson and Dempsey were as players for the futures that we could just about afford on the wages saved by Cole and Aquaman moving on. They would both provide us more options on the field so I am not sure how I contradicted myself.
In response to You really don't know much do you, that is correct, for instance I do not your name.
Os Red,
Thanks, for the interesting and slightly more thorough response than is normally received. I honestly believe that we do have a good shot at Muller, the reason he is going to consider his future away from Bayern (a club he has been with since he was 10 years old) and they have been in the CL final 2 of the past 3 years is solely due to playing time. I believe that we can better his current pay rate and stay within our wage structure. Yes, Man City can beat us on wages but going off of the fact that he is willing to leave his childhood club due solely to lack of playing time, he still says he loves Bayern he may just want to play the game. He will not get that guarantee at Man City or Chelsea, I am not as familiar with Inter position though, but he would at Liverpool and LFC is one of the most recognized sports teams in the world regardless of CL or not. I agree he would have to be sold on the project but I do believe that it is possible and he would definitely be worth the effort. On a basic skill only level AJ would improve the team but again I am not sure about his attitude, from what I recall I think one of the reasons he lost his starting spot was not getting back to help defend. Krasic is something different but I am not sure he would for sure better the team I think that Siggurdsson is probably the safest bet of the three mentioned he is young and can improve but I am not sure of how much of an immediate impact he would have, it may work out great and if we sign him I hope he lights the world on fire I don't think he will.
Keith,
I completely understand your question and I had trouble with that one myself. What 2 players in the 20M+ transfer range would make the greatest impact on LFC and just about as sure as you can get these 2 would either together or separately. I believe that what M'Vila offers that complements Lucas is his better medium to long range passing whereas Lucas plays more of the simple pass. Though they could be used in many variations the one that struck me would be a midfield 3 with Stevie G uptop with Lucas and M'Vila behind him. I also think this would give allow Gerrard to plays in the hole behind Carroll or Suarez.
Of course I mean exciting because when they say hey BR is standing next to, as an example Muller and M'Vila and they both just put pen to paper on 5 year deals and passed their medicals. I will be excited because I will believe that unless there is some unknown issue LFC that we just got tremendously better as a team. The name recognition of the players is good for everyone, LFC, the fans, the player, and the EPL. But beyond the name I just put forth Muller and M'Vila as 2 players that I know would improve the team and also help us in areas where we need support. I think the most common reason given last year as to why LFC did so poorly in the league was the time it takes to jell as a team. We brought in 6 “ 7 players last summer, do you really want to start over again I mean how many revolutions do we need? I just named 2 players that will make our team better and integrating 2 players should be much simpler than 4 or 5 diamond in the rough types. Yes it is all speculation that was one of my original points I am just hoping that if I say Muller to LFC enough it will come true. Maybe a lazy scout will come on this website read my information on Thomas Muller and say hey that sounds pretty good I will send that in.

Coley

£8m Lucas

Any news on boudabouz eds, it seems to have quietened down a little I know Liverpool wanted to keep updated on him.. any more progress? {Ed002's Note - Whilst Lyon would seem to be the most likely destination right now, Marseille are showing a determined interest and by the end of this week may make a firm bid.}

I guess we have no chance, thanks for the reply mate

Hey eds, normally reliable Echo are reporting that Gylfi is close to signing for us! Do you think that is true and how close do you reckon? Cheers Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest - how would you like me to measure "close"?}

I mean do you reckon it's likely that he will sign for us this coming week as the Echo claimed? Scouserseb

Hi eds, it's been reported a deal for sugurdsson could go through as early as this week after we agreed a 8m-8.5m fee for the player
What have you heard eds

{Ed002's Note - He cannot sign until July 1. If a deal is to happen the clubs may well agree a fee and he agree to join - but I would not want to guess when that happens but it could be this week.}

Echo also mentions Steven Caulker and Fabio Borini.

I was impressed by Caulker last season, but haven't seen enough of Borini to make a judgement.

RedSG

No, I know that the actual transfer cannot go through until the 1st of July.. Ok, but do you reckon that Liverpool is his likely destination? Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I would say a good chance.}

Okey, cheers that's all for now. You're doing a top top job ed's, really appreciated!

This isn't even a worst kept secret of all time it has been done since Big Bren's signing. Hope he works out sad Jay is going good lad.

Ed pick a number between 2 and 7 oranges (7 he lowest) how close would you say? or would you prefer a standard type of measurement? {Ed005's Note - 3.5.}

Could you use metric measurements please ed2?

I know not strictly a Liverpool rumour but just seen Rafa Benitez in the first class lounge at Runcorn train station heading to London. Tottenham job interview maybe?

My mate who's going to his dads said he was sat on the first class bit, maybe he's just going for a day trip in london

If travelling to London from The Wirral the easier route is through Chester surely? I live on Wirral and it is for me.
Trust Rafa to go the wrong way:)
kidmillions

There isnt a first class lounge at Runcorn Station

I saw Rafa playing Golf at Gleneagles last weekend. He was happy to talk, and I was trying to get any info he might have - but said he didn't know anything! (I don't know why he would mind you, but I had to ask)

I asked him if was disappointed not to be considered for the job, but he said he didn't want it and wouldn't work for the American owners. Didn't really know what to make of that, and didn't get a chance to ask him why!

Joe

Wrong page we have had two managers after rafa who cares where he is going.

Erm....Runcorn doesn't HAVE a first class lounge matey ;)

Oh yes please - - take him away

Somebody told Rafa it wasn't the best route but true to form he's gonna stick to his guns regardless, turn up late for the interview then have a rant a press conference having a go at the CEO of virgin trains whilst reading from a list complaining about how his sandwiches were moldy and his coffee was cold whilst other passengers were served espresso and croissants before going on to claim it is all a FACT!

I live on Wirral and would get train to London from Liverpool as they are far more regular that from Chester, however he goes to London a lot so it's not anything to do with Spurs

I was going to say...Have you seen Runcorn Station? It's essentially 2 train tracks that conveniently have concrete lumps next to them for platforms...

Yes why would he be in Runcorn when he lives caldy to catch a train.

Dream on!!

I meant he was sitting in the first class section of the train not the station. Runcorn does not have a first class lounge as stated by someone else.

I don't know why people ridicule you on here. I have no reason to lie. He was there. I saw him and so did many others. Who cares where he lives or what train he should get. He was there. FACT

Runcorn does have a 1st Class lounge and I live on the wirral and always use Runcorn to London, you can park the car there !

First class lounge in runcorn thats a bit far fetched

Liverpool always travel to London from Runcorn to avoid the crowds at Lime st.

He probably still sticks to the known, quiet route.

Eds,
hope u post this for lfc fans who likes rumor.

1)Is it true that B.Rodgers is interested to bring Benedikt Howedes to Anfield? After watching Schalke highlights, he is actually pretty good. At the age of 24, i think it would be a good addition since Carra will no longer play/ play less game. His value?

2)Gylfi Sig - Heard that 6.8M is only for Swansea since this value is for loan + permanent sign at the season end. Since Gylfi want to sign for Rodgers at LFC, Hoffenheim wants 8M. IS is true? 8M i think still very good price.

3)Any update on Gaston Ramirez? Is Bologna still want 20M for him or if bid made around 18M is enough?

Have a good day Eds and hope u bring latest rumor u heard for us, lfc fans.

-Neezam'LFC {Ed002's Note - (1) I would very much doubt that Howedes is going to be an option. (2) You are right that the price agreed with Swansea is not necessarily the price anyone else would pay. (3) The figures you have quoted are broadly correct, but there is nothing new to report.}

Is it true that Luis has signed a new deal at anfield? Or just made up BS? Big Mike {Ed002's Note - Again I assume anoter Twitter rumour - perhaps arising from Atletico Madrid's Mario Suarez new four-year contract.}

Cheers ED

Ed002 what is your infactuation with Twitter? You are clearly disgusted by the site but I would love to know what distinguishes this site from Twitter so much?

This site is full of nonsense rumours and so is Twitter. The only difference is the amount of people that pass through both sites are significantly different.

So stop moaning about twitter as its a rumour based site just like yours. {Ed002's Note - We don't have the time to vaidate every rumour from Twitter - like the mass of posts about new season fixtures that were all wrong, this crap about Suarez etc.. You make up this nonsense and use words like "infactuation" and "disgusted" which are simply untrue. I recommend that you stay away from here a stick with Twitter. We are getting absolutely sick of getting up to posts from moaning and bleating jerks like you every day. We give our time for nothing to keep this running but anonymous trolls like you are attempting to ruin it for eveyone. And, by the way, you are doing a good job.}

Well said ed, i dont know why people even bother to send yous abuse, if they dont like what they are reading there are plenty of other sites they can go to. i for one greatly appriciate the time and work yous all put in. Without yous, my days in work would be a lot longer and less interesting.
john

Well said Ed.

Twitter is a place where statements are made and passed around by so many people and also different languages that it effectively turns into Chinese whispers and things are lost in translation.

This is a site where people come to discuss things rather than just repeat any old crap.

Gman
