There must be a considerable war chest available if we think we can attract top managers of the calibre of Pep Guardiola. I know he is not interested but the owners must be prepared to back whoever it is with serious money.
Dont think they would try tempt Pep Guardiola with 20 million and player sales

Seriously, I cannot listen to Talksh1t anymore, it is so anti-Liverpool its not true but I can't help feeling our horrendous PR these last few years has caused the media to view us this way.

I think we have a serious case of bad timing here, 1 year from now and the likes of Klopp & Guardiola might be tempted. Bit scared we will end up with our 6th or 7th choice!

Oh and to all those wanting Rafa back, will you be happy for him to keep the £4m he was paid for leaving last time around? Need to move forward people.

The Jackal.

Rafa was sacked last time round so was entitled to that 4m, are you saying you would have turned it down? Plus he made a generous donation to the Hillsborough campaign upon leaving. Stop being an idiot.

Yes I am happy the same as you would be happy if you were sacked from your job and your contract stated if you leave you get so much £xx , bet you would not turn it down.

Yes I would, he also gave 96 grand, guess what for

Shutup and bring back rafa! The guy over achieved with the squad he had for years. I would welcome him back in a heart beat. Winning the champions league with the team we had? Legend and a tactical genius!

Thought Rafa donated his severance pay to the Hilsborough families

Id be happy, it was the last owners who paid him it, can't blame him for going with the way he was treated, the man loves the club as much as you and I, and okay may not be the best option out there, but against names such as martinez, rodgers, he's by far the best, got us closest to the title as weve been in 20 years, simple as that!

What makes you think Klop and Gardiola are more likely to come then?

Agree with the above, this search for a new manager looks very messy to me. It is one thing to draw a list of 10/12 potential canditates but I would expect the club to draw a short list of maximum 3 names and approach those only. It is ridiculous to approach more.

The severance payment that rafa got he donated to the hillsbourgh justice charities. That's the mark of the man. Has Liverpool at heart. #unfinishedbusiness

Rafa basically got sacked.

Talksport is like sky, loathsome of lfc and loving of manchester and london, i blame it on a jealousy of lfc's standing in the game

He gave 1 million to the Hillsborough JC when he left

Need we say more!! {Ed001's Note - it was £96,000.}

Jackal.
Rafa donated his money.

Klopp and pep haha!! The swansea manager is not even interested!!

TalkSport are massive wind-up merchants, they do it to most clubs, but particularly brutal to Liverpool. Jealousy. Still the most successful team in England.

I really don't get all the rafa hate. He kept the money because the last owners were pathetic and were ruining the club. Rafa has done more for this club than most would realise. Our youth development that is starting to take off again is because of rafa...

Actually pretty sure he gave his money to charity.

Didnt he turn down the other 10 million or so?

Rafa donated his 4 million pay off to charity. The Majority going to the HJC.

Dont listen to talkshyte then! it's a load of crap. the presenters are complete idiots. mickey quinn is thick as pigs**t and cundy should replace the d in his name with a t.

If we ask him nicely he might waive remuneration for the 1st year, I bet he would too he loves the place so much

Rafa got 4mil for being sacked, he never left so if he can return with no hardf feelings and have the same impact as the last time he joined then yea come back and bring torres too. IMO if u gonna get young dude in that needs time they should of stuck with kenny for a season more otherwise this tine next season we all gonna be slating the new manager and calling for his head. We need a big game manager and only 1 i can see willing is rafa, if not it was pointless sacking the only other man that cares for lfc.

The Jackal

1) I suggest you don't listen to talksport
2) the decision has been made now and 12 months is long time.
3) and Rafa has donated and supported to many LFC charities and campaigns. Even after the owners made his position untenable and removed him.

Dirks EnginevRoom
{Ed016's Note - His wife is still very involved doing charity work they are a nice bunch of people)

Listen Rafa loves the club that's first part, hevwats towin and stabilise from within. The academy Rafa as lot to be thanked for bringing in Segura etc....I would love Pep or Jose but that like asking the to give kenny the keys back ain't happening so prefer devil we all understand and live to hate

Yes I would. It wasn't his fault he was treated that way and booted out. I think what people should remember about Rafa is that he performed outstanding in difficult circumstances.
He had to 'sell to buy' and not 'buy to sell'...

In real terms, all recent winners of the league have ALL been allowed to spend and add to the squad. Rafa was promised things which wasn't delivered - constantly.

Let me ask you this. If Rafa was told to sell Torres and Babel for £55m, use these proceeds to fund new signings AND add this £55m to a further £50m net spend - who would he have brought in for the )100m? And how different would the squad look now??

I'm happy he gave at least £96000 to the hillsborough support groups! Anyway he was sacked by vermin who tried to ruin him, best manager we've had in 20 years

Why wouldn't people be happy with Rafa keeping the 4 million he was owed when the club terminated his contract? Rafa was forced out he didn't choose to leave

They are not the only anti LFC out there, virtually the entire media is against us, they just dont understand what YNWA is or ever understand its significance to LFC fans worldwide. In the words of Norman Stanley Fletcher, Don't Let The B**tards Grind You Down, Keep the faith, our timme is coming :)

Red4Ever

The 4 million alot of that money went to the hillsborough charties

The owners should at least hear what vision Rafa has to take the club to a level that is acceptable in the short term, ie. CL qualification at 1st attempt. I am sure he has a list of players already sounded out, should John and Tom offer him a short term deal.....with CL qualification being the sweetner for a contract extension. Of all the candidates I believe he was the only one that didn't HAVE to be approached....He always wanted this job.....club is in his blood and Merseyside is where his heart is.......Its not just another job to Rafa its unfinished business, Rgds Limerick Red

Thought he gave it to charities and the hilsbrough campaine

Rafa was paid £4 million because his contract was terminated.

That's severance pay, Rafa would have likely wanted to stay and help the club, but he got sacked. It was in his contract. I don't have any problems with that, Hodgson got a big severance packet as well, i'm sure Kenny has been paid for early termination of contract as well.

If we don't pay what we promise to pay in the contracts the club signs, then no one would want to sign a contract with us.

Rafa was actually entitled to £16 million as a pay out, but accepted the lesser figure, donated lots to charity and him and his wife continue to support local charities. Roy Hodgeson on the other hand made quite sure he got his full entitlement of 7 million for the crap 6 months of relegation form we all had to suffer. Rafa was sacked, it was a huge mistake to sack him and we are still reaping the consequences of that decision now,

I love all this talk of Rafa giving all his money, or £1m of it to Hillsborough. He gave 2.5%. That's the eqivalent to me giving one weeks wage to charity. You are all blind!!! By the way his last great buy wasted a total of £20million in thrown away transfer and wages on an injured Aquilani!

If rafa was given 100m to spend on the club he'd buy 11 dossena's at 8m a pop.....

To the last guy if rafa was given 100 million he would buy 11 dossena,s at 8 million a pop surely that would leave him 12 million so how about 11 dossenas 1 voronin at 4 and maybe 1 more dossena for sub lol

He got sacked would you give up your wages if sacked thats football

I'm as proud of the history as our great club as the next fan,but please can we all stop looking backwards,all this bring rafa back,any chance of torres coming back throw in alonso coming back rumors too.I feel now is the time we should be looking forward,a new manager with fresh ideas and let's give them a fair crack at the job!we need to build for future if we are ever to gain ground on the manchester clubs

PM

Agreed. We're stuck in the past and the owner's need to take the club to the next level.

Couldn't agree more pal. We need a new strategy and new ideas if we're going to compete with the silly money other clubs have to spend. With this constant cry for old managers and players to take over we're in danger of becoming the new Newcastle.

Let FSG implement their own structure and ideas and see how it works out. It couldn't be any worse than the model and the mess they inhereted.

David

Well said mate, PLEASE NO RAFA

New manager like manage of the year Hodgson ???

Totally agree well said.. Onwards and upwards..

I know what you're saying about moving forward and I agree with the Alonso and Torres nonsense but in terms of the manager we really need someone proven and someone well respected in the game with good contacts, if you think about it the top managers wont come anywhere near us right now and when I say top managers you have to include Benitez in that bracket if you look at his track record. At the end of the day he might be the best available to us.

Finally someone talking sense.

We'll take martinez then!

Eds, Is there any chance we will be looking at Pellegrini for the managers job, has has again done a good job bringing Malaga to Champions league football. He may not want to come but should we not at least make an approach. {Ed001's Note - what could we do to convince him to leave Malaga and their oil sheikh behind?}

Hi ed001,what is it that attracts OLIGARCHS to these teams,MALAGA,ANZI,PSG,CHELSEA,MC
yet when we were UP FOR SALE the best we could do was IFFY AMERICANS,
I JUST DON'T GET IT,I wonder were we would be if we'd of accepted the offer
from SHEIK MOHAMMED,those
aforementioned teams are not exactly
giants of the game,I mean cmon
MALAGA, ANZI........ {Ed001's Note - the offer was from DIC, who went bankrupt shortly after. FSG were the best available option.}

18 May 2012 17:57:33
Hey eds, when exactly are the interviews for candidates going to take place? Hoping for Guardiola!
Cheers
TheRedOne {Ed001's Note - don't know sorry.}

Its goin to be steve kean, dont worry we are still the biggest club in the world even though we've never won the premier league and have no world class players in our squad...

I think suarez counts as a world class player

Guardiola would be the only man to take over king Kenny

And so do skrtl, agger, lucas and reina (at his best)

And Steve

Hes takin over valencia

18 May 2012 17:33:30
When will Martinez be interviewed do you know ed's and also is it true from sky that there are about 12 candidates cheers keep up the great work as always at this hectic time
Cheers

Greg {Ed001's Note - I don't know when the interviews are taking place, but yes there is a list of over 10 people they are or will be contacting.}

Hia Ed,

Any new info on who they could be apart from Martinez, Rafa, and Brendan (No More)? Or any you expect to be asked.

Thank's

Burnsy

The mighty liverpool,martinez,turned down by rodgers,what was the point of sacking dalglish,you reap what you sow,losers.

This post above is so funny! 'you reap what you sow'.....

At least the Americans are being professional and thorough interviewing a host of candidates.

18 May 2012 17:32:13
Liverpool have made contact with guus hiddink.

Thanks

Lee the red

How do u now that lee

He is only a mercenary...

Hiddink would definitely suit the fans wants, but unfortunately I doubt he meets the owners wants.

Lee, any ideas on how much compensation Anzhi would want? not that they need the money but serving only 3 months of a 18 months contract I would expect them to drive a hard bargain.

18 May 2012 17:32:06
Hi Ed, David Dein will take over the reins from Ian Ayre with Ian Ayre going back to be commercial director. This will all happen when they bring in the new manager, until then nothing willntake place, other than maybe the DOF being announced.

Ian Ayre said his contract as Managing Director was extended yesterday. Not happy with that at all. I too want Dein or someone along those lines. Ayre is a joke.

hi eds great site,

Has Rafael Benitez been approached do you know? Would appreciate an answer, great work!

Chris from Crewe {Ed001's Note - yes, he has even been giving interviews about it.}

Ed is this true? Can you give us any links to the interviews? Cheers
Mellor {Ed001's Note - I can't, but my parents live there and my mam was texting me about it yesterday. Pepe Reina was also interviewed and said he was excited by the prospect of working with Rafa again or something like that.}

What do you mean giving interviews, he is going to have one or he has had one? {Ed001's Note - on Spanish radio mate and to TV crews talking about having the chance to return to Liverpool.}

Something tells me FSG might not be too happy that hes giving interviews about it already. What do you reckon ed? {Ed001's Note - it doesn't seem the best way to go about things.}

I love Rafa but I don't think he should come back, we need to look to the future not the past all the time.

Klopp for me, or AVB at a push.

Adam

Hey eds, now the question is ; has he been interviewed or been giving interviews? ;) lol

thanks {Ed001's Note - been giving interviews to the media.}

Last time he had the job he threw away the EPL title when it was within touching distance and he has achieved nothing since.Would not be my choice.
CR

Ed 001,

Do you know if it is for manager or DOF?
Are these interviews anywhere that can be viewed??

Appreciate the answers given!

Chris in Crewe {Ed001's Note - manager, I believe. I assume the one will be available to view. It was given to SNTV, that is all that I know about it.}

If we know anything about Rafa it is that his preperation is meticulous and his knowledge of the game and Liverpool is unmatched.

I cant help but think that FSG couldnt fail to be impressed.

He and his agent were also claiming the Chelsea job was his. That proved premature. I've not heard Rafa has been officially contacted by LFC but if your mam says so....

Ed how come none of the media have picked up on these interviews yet? {Ed019's Note - they are obsessed with Martinez}

Do you think he will get the job ed? Do you know if Emery has been approached?

Nevada {Ed001's Note - not a clue sorry.}

To be honest rafa did do good consering the money he had for transfers, so just imagine who he will sign now

Is there a link to a printed version of the interview?

Thanks for the answer ED001 :)

Why would he give interviews unless he had been interviewed

Hmm.... Very dubious about this. It's hard to believe Rafa has spoken a single word in public regarding the Liverpool job. On his website he never gets drawn into any discussion about the current Liverpool setup. Harder still to believe nobody in the media over here has picked it up given that many Liverpool fans are clamouring to hear from the man.

Can any one verifye this with links or anything

Mate of mine spoke to Rafa 2 days ago - he hadn't been approached!

Paulo

Ed001 you taking mickey out of what someone said yesterday {Ed001's Note - no.}

Mate of mine told me on wed morn that dalglish was going- but not to be announced untill thurs night [ he,s got a relation works for lfc -] now tells me martinez [coach ] and benitez [
d.o.f. ] is what sfg will accept [ if guadiolla says no ! -- i must say my mate,s relation usualy gives good info

Hang on, I'm confused, Chris in Crew/Chris from Crewe - what happened to Chris in Tamworth?

Adam

18 May 2012 16:59:33
Eds good site but can u update more been on all day waitin f Liverpool rumours {Ed002's Note - Try the banter page - there have been no transfer rumopurs.}

In case you hadn't noticed, we have no manager and no Director Of Football. There will be no transfers until those posts are filled and the incomers have decided what they want to do. To be frank, I doubt you will see much 'in' transfer activity this summer as the new management won't have had much chance to see the squad train and make their own appraisals. RED LENIN

18 May 2012 16:58:14
Ed, can you shine light on the Joe Cole and Aqualani situation - are they both looking to be sold or would the club be willing to keep them?

JMiah95 --> add the psn! {Ed002's Note - I would expect both to move on.}

18 May 2012 16:12:03
Ed in the last year why have loads of FSGs primary investors left the fund. With the Red Sox doing poorly and their inability to compete financially in football could we see LFC for sale again any time soon? {Ed002's Note - With one notable exception it is simply a matter of day to day business and moves in the investment market. The significant exception is the NY Times who are looking to get out of the non-core investments (effectively their non-media investments) whilst also propping up a flagging print industry as advertising moves on line. It is only a matter of time before printed newspapers will all but disappear and we will all read the news on our iPuds or whatever. The last remaining bastion of the empire could well be the world's greatest newspaper, the International Herald Tribune. You will likely see more venture capitalists, like Henry McCance, buying in and out of FSG in the next couple of years.}

Eds do you think FSG could sell liverpool in the next few years to someone with vast spending power. {Ed002's Note - Like Kenny Huang?}

Also all that b****cks FSG/the owners said about returning liverpool to old winning ways may indeed ring true if you drop the"winning" and accept the old ways being that under the previous yank owners....we should have known more americans wouldn't have a clue

You're the one that doesn't have a clue mate! Call yourself a Liverpool fan? Get real

What a brainless post. They appointed the manager the fans wanted, he failed to get results so now we blame FSG. Many wanted another year for Kenny, what about the same before you start whining about FSG.Had Kenny kept the job and done as poorly next year I suppose that would have been FSG fault for not sacking him. They just cannot get a fair crack can they.

Herald Tribune? My ar$e. What about the Echo.

18 May 2012 14:29:40
Never posted before but though all LFC fans should know this. Just got the following info from a very good liverpool FC source:- Martinez is to be the manager and Rafa will be our new DOF

I also used to sniff glue but I managed to break the habit and I think you could to...

Good god i hope not IMO Benitez's only good quality was his tactical accumen. Lost a lot on reckless transfers and alienated a lot of his players during his time at Liverpool.

Dude Please , what Hogwash !!

Absolutely no way

For the life off me I can't see it although I think rafa would be good in the role would Martinez want rafa in that role knowing full well jus how good he was as manager it's like he would be waiting in the wings to take the job at the first slip up. Kr

Shove your source up where there's no sunshine , we dont want martinez and thats a rafa FACT !!!

You better keep off the 'source' mate

Seriously Rafa DOF? His worst league position was 6th and Martinez was 15th? So FSG wants Martinez? A joke

Please stop these rafa rants we need new blood and i hope imo that avb gets it
eam

If martinez was any good how come he is always in relegation scraps?

Can people not see the difference between Wigan and Liverpool? As it stands this season Martinez's achievement of keeping Wigan up (whilst playing attractive football) is far more significant than a 6th place finish for Liverpool. Martinez is a good manager, I would be interested to see what he could do at Liverpool.

The reason rafa bought stupid players like voronin and riera is because hicks and gillett wouldnt give him the money to sign his number 1 targets

Who exactly forced Rafa into taking on Voronin, Degen, Dossena (£7m), Nunez et al? All his own choices.

To the last poster...nobody forced Rafa to buy Torres, Reina, Lucas, Alonso etc etc etc either...get a grip.

18 May 2012 13:53:43
Hi Eds,

Any chance on Joachim Loew? {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt he would want the job.}

18 May 2012 13:42:59
Sorry to pile more speculation on our once great club, but apparently the short list for managers is not so short as it will mainly depend on who we manage to get in as Director of Football.

Txixi Berguiristain is the favourite but obviously prising him away from Barce gonna be difficult. maybe with Pep leaving it may help in his decision, but he wants to brings the players in he wants and get a manger in that will utilise them in the right way. With Rodolfo Borrell already trying to use the Barce blueprint by largely using the same group of young lads and bringing them up through the ranks to reserves (so they are readily available for the first team as and when needed) this would make sense.

The only stumbling block as that apparently FSG have their idea of who should be manager, Txixi will have his idea of who it should be and has voiced his options, and in the event that Liverpool dont manage to prize him from Barce, then we will turn to Louis Van Gaal...not as manager but as Director of Football. He will no doubt have his own ideas of who should be in charge.

All in all, it's a bit of a mess but with Jen Chang already named in the Director of Communications post, the scouting network should at least be upgraded to one of the best around. He has had his hand in Sports Interactive (they of Chapmionship/Football Manager fame) who has global couts in every minor league in every major country.

We just need to put our trust in FSG and hope that they get it right this time around. Jen in place, hopefully Txixi to buy the players we need, and a bigger profile manager than Martinez to pull them in...not necessarily this year as the budget has already been mooted as being fairly small in comparison to last year, but in years to come.

Tixi isnt employed by Barca !!

Txiki left "barce" two years ago genius. jeez, the anonymous pundits in this world. hats off to the patience levels of the eds.
indian red

Txixi Berguiristain left Barcelona a few years ago (late 09/10 season, i think.)

Txixi isn't at Barcelona any more.

Would all this "once great club" nonsense stop please?! LFC are still a great club, just battling through a tough time! Give it a rest!

Txiki is not at Barcelona anymore, he is a 'free agent' if you like. I don't understand why people come here to make things up, you just look like an person when you make silly mistakes like that!

Mate, Begiristain left Barca in 2010.

The DoF doesn't need to be in place before manager. People misinterpret what the role involves. As long as everyone buys into the STRUCTURE the individuals matter less. That's the whole point of the structure - that managers can come and go but the structure stays in place so there's continuity.

Err he no longer at Barca. well done

G.baker

It might have been credible txixi left barca 2 years . the bs flag is well n truly flying here

You do realise Txiki left Barcelona in 2010 right? Kind of takes away the credibility from your post.

Txixi Berguiristain does not work for Barca. Aaarrgh! these people drive me crazy!

Bergirisatain is not at Barce anymore so prising him away should be pretty easy, just depends if he actually wants to come to Liverpool...

Txiki left barca in 2010 so prising him away wouldn't be to difficult

I could be wrong but i don't think bergeristan is at barca anymore so we wouldn't have to "prise him away"

I think he gets the point guys lol

Haha just in case he doesnt get the point(s) above,

HE'S NOT AT BARCA ANYMORE!!

FSG is not looking at 1 person as DoF, they wanna split this role into a "panel" of 3 people... I posted this earlier but it didnt hit the page, not sure why when i read all this crap on here.... Anyways FSG want txiki, david dein and pep segura in this "panel".... And i can say its gonna be hard to get a decent manager, since he will not have the final say in transfers... Go american style, LOL...

What was the point in posting this obvious BS, I look on this site to find genuine rumours instead of the papers because 95% of the stuff on BBC sport gossip column is from agents looking for more money, so stop posting s**t mate and ruining this site. Rant over.

--and where do you think folks on here get their rumours from?
Don't tell me you think they all have inside contacts.

Not "inside" so to speak, but I do believe their mums best mates dogs vet knows a doc that once saw a liverpool player :D

Guardiola to be manager
Kenny Dalglish director of football

Martinez will be next boss, end of. Stop all the rumours, we can just about afford roberto, he'll be ok though

H funniest post i've read in yonks. Apart from the obvious Tixiki error , nobody has pointed out to this clown that Jen Chang SI (the poster obviously saw his twitter ) is Sports Illustrated where he worked not Sports Interactive that make Football manager haha

PEP Segura to be announced by the club as the new DOF by 6pm today, and the new manager could well be Michael Laudrup, as early as next Wednesday.
YOZLFC

Tick Tock......

18 May 2012 13:34:48
Has Capello ever been a possibility? Thanks

18 May 2012 13:23:18
Guardiola has no interest in Liverpool.. Just read on Newsnow!

Things can very easily change. Also, don't believe the newspapers. Only FSG know exactly what is going on. Anything else is pure speculation.

Obviously, Guardiola loves Barca and has told them he left because he wants some time away from football, so I don't think it would do his rep much good to go to another club

Off course he doesn't he just 'quit' Barca...hows he gonna cope with the miserey on the mersey...he'll stay in the spanish sun....we shouldnt have sacked kenny

I dont think FSG can see past the £($) signs in there eyes......

What have $ got to do with this post?
This is not news now in fact it never was news as Gaurdiola was always going to take a break as everyone knows.

18 May 2012 13:20:57
Frank De Boer is said to be set for talks. Not a bad bet at 33-1.

18 May 2012 13:15:24
my friends dad who lives in boston and has connections to FSG in the way of his wifes cousin has been told that rafa is the last choice. they ultimately want a young manager with fresh ideas to work alongside an experienced dof who will decide what players are targeted. however if they cant find a suitable manager rafa will be the 1st port of call. dont know how reliable this is but thought id share and get the opinion of the eds

My aunties friends sisters dogs brothers owner has told me u r talkin rubbish!!!

18 May 2012 13:12:43
Here are the 12
Martinez
Rodgers
AVB
Guardiola
Lambert
Klinsman
Rafa
Klopp
Biesla
Laudrup
Rijkard
Deschamps

You missed Frank de boer and you can delete Rodgers AVB Guardiola Bielsa and Rafa as none of them have been contacted or want the job.

KLOPP is the outstanding candidate

No more rodgers. De Boer also on the list

Hope thats not in order

Martinez
Rodgers - RULED OUT
AVB
Guardiola - RULED OUT
Lambert
Klinsman
Rafa
Klopp
Bielsa
Laudrup
Rijkard
Deschamps

10 left :)

AZ

Is it a guess? Why should they speak with Laudrup? He has only been proven as a manager in Brøndby in Denmark, with a very great team indeed.
DanielDenmark

Rodolfo Borell ??

Guinnessred8

Martinez will be the new manager.

Rafa's not on the list as far as I know and Rodgers has turned us down.
This is just a list of managers.
ANFIELDPETE

Guardiola or klopp

What about klopp

I know a couple have ruled themselves out but the 12 I've posted were the original 12 options.

Surely Van Gaal?

I know for a fact that Jupp Heynckes will be interviewed, so someone on that list should not be there. I have a contact at Kappa who knows several key Italian journalists. I also know they have no interest in trying to persuade Rodgers to change his mind and that Aquilani will not be given away to save on wages.

I have no idea who the front runner is though, probably whoever is being interviewed at the time.

A mate of a mate of mine knows Bryan Roy very well and he knows that FSG are taking advice from several key people in the game and two of these are Marco Van Basten and David Dein. Dein is believed to be advising more on the stadium side of things.

None of them are good enough-most of them wouldn't take the job

@ the 12 I've posted were the original 12 options
----------------------------------------

Sorry mate but you're full of it - you forgot to mention De Boer and Girard. Bielsa was always a non-runner as he doesn't speak english. Klinsmann didn't make the cut either as he and wife Debbie are more than happy living in America.

Just heard that Lucien Favre is on the list.

Kevin Keegan ?

18 May 2012 13:09:28
Is there any chance of a return for Rafa?

Yes. But I doubt it if Ian Ayre is still there. Unless they can lay all the cards on the table and sort things out. But yes, there is a chance and a welcome one at that. He'd be my choice, but I don't think FSG will go that way.

We can only hope. I think he, witha adequate funding, would be the obvious choice.
solidair

Return of La Rafalucion! ... I hope .. i wish .. i doubt it though :

Please not he wasted way to much money and played cat football his man management skills are rubbish

PLEASE - NO, there has to be a problem with the guy when ALL the opposing team fans didn't want him sacked.

This would be so stupid but out of all the managers if we cant have kenny then I'll settle for Rafa, everyone knows how much he loves the *Rafa accent* Club!

I hope not, boring boring boring better of with off with hook nose from wolves

What makes anyone with a modicum of wit think that Benitez is "an obvious choice"? How many job offers has he had since his crusade to single-handedly destroy Inter Milan?

Let's be real for a minute, the guy tried his best to bankrupt the club by constantly demanding more and more cash for more and more ordinary players. I doubt if he would be happy with anything other than Mancini's chequebook. FSG are not stupid and will not bend to his way of managing. They have their principles and guidelines that they won't be swayed from and that leaves no room for Rafa.

Besides it's not as if he would bring back Alonso, Mascherano, Torres et al. It's time to move on!

Hi Eds,

Don't know if this should go on rumour page, but it is worth knowing.

Kenny told Carra BEFORE he flew to the US. The decision was made after the FA Cup final, as FSG had a get out clause that meant KD had to achieve a top four place and a minimum q/f place in a cup. In the event of failure the contract stated that KD would step down, with a 25% severance package (approx £900k).

If fans want to know who is next, I don't have a clue, but what I do know is that JH and FSG play their cards so close to their chests, they could fracture a rib. If you look up Adrian Gonzalez or Carl Crawford you will see.

The deal for Gonzalez was done between the Red Sox and the San Diego Padres about 2 days prior to any media speculation.

Three days later, the Sox signed Carl Crawford. The only reports that mentioned the Red Sox and Carl Crawford prior to that were that the Sox were not in the running and had no interest in him.

So all the speculation over the new manager is purely speculation.

Sorry to pee on the bonfire, but this is what I KNOW from seventeen years in pro sports contract law.

An interesting read actually. Thanks for this. I agree that noone will really know until it's done.

Well they weren,t so secrative over bobby valentine and look how thats turning out

"FSG had a get out clause that meant KD had to achieve a top four place and a minimum q/f place in a cup"....

-------

So, if Liverpool had won the title but were out of the cups before QF stage Kenny would have been out?

17 years in pro sport contract law? 17 years of B*lls**t!

I have no idea if you're for real or not but I certainly hope that this is the way FSG do business.

Mrpjd

I am sure cara is happy his confidence has been betrayed.

It's worth knowing mate, thanks.
But what has always worried me with FSG is their lack of knowledge of English football. And now they've seemingly left us without anyone to even start secretly signing players.
The Real KB

No, it means they can exercise the option if they want to, without having to pay a larger severance package (usually between 40-60%.

"So, if Liverpool had won the title but were out of the cups before QF stage Kenny would have been out?

17 years in pro sport contract law? 17 years of B*lls**t!"

----------------------------------------

If what our man says is true, it wouldn't have meant he would have been out if he had won the league and failed in cup competitions; it would have meant that the clause would have been active and they would have had that option under the terms of the contract to terminate w/ severance. But just because they would have had the option doesn't mean that they would have taken it (and of course they wouldn't have if we had won the league)

I think you're spot on regarding the management situation. No-one knows anything concrete outside of the club

To the "17 years of B*lls**t" response above:

A get out clause gives you the option of doing something. If Kenny had won the title it is unlikely the owners would have exercised it.

Try thinking before posting. It works.

Not saying he's right but it's a get out clause. Makes it an option not a dead cert. So if he did win the title they wouldn't have to sack him. Your reason for calling bulls**t is flawed.

Thanks for that post. Are you able to put some perspective on those names in regards their stature in Baseball? For example, is Gonzales a 'Roberto Martinez' or is he a 'Jose Mourinho'? Likewise Carl Crawford.

Im lazy, i know! Cheers mate!

Red G

Yeah well done ! The story about Carra was on the official web site yesterday. I thought this was a rumour page not a well known bit of news page.

Thank you genius for explaining what an "option" is. lol

The point that I was making is that it's a rediculous "option" and therefore I questioned it. If I was KD I certainly wouldn't have signed a contract that gave the owners the option to sack me even if I'd delivered the league title for the first time in over 20 years! Perhaps you can advise him on contract law?

Perhaps in my rush to point this out I incorrectly wrote "would" instead of "could"...I guess I need to check what I wrote before posting.

What you know is killing the game...and our club

To the person who wrote:

Thank you genius for explaining what an "option" is. lol

Maybe you wouldn't have agreed to a contract, but Kenny cares about LFC, not just about himself. If Kenny wanted an easy life he would've stayed out of the hot seat, he doesn't need the money.

What has 17 years of contract sport law got to do with what u said

Hi Eds why is that you believe AVB is not in the running?

Thanks g-doo {Ed001's Note - because I haven't heard anything about an approach to him and Ed002 hasn't either. But it is early days yet and he could well be approached over the next few days, unfortunately.}

Why unfortunately? so he got sacked from chelsea, so what? a lot of excellent managers have had the chop from chelsea it doesnt make them bad managers - far from it (mourinho, scollari, anciolotti, ranieri just to name but a few) I personally wanted AVB before talk of KK returning as manager broke out and before chelsea snapped him up. I think he'd be brilliant for us a very bright young talented manager whos good in the transfer market has experience of big clubs in europe and could lead us to a successful future IMO. {Ed001's Note - because he is tactically inept and can't man manage.}

Im not advocating AVB for the job but ed he's not tactically inept now in fairness. {Ed001's Note - yes he is. High line with a slow back line, that is inept.}

Why the hell do people keep mentioning AVB? Don't they see where Chelsea were 2 months ago and where they are now? Mourinho and Ancelotti got sacked because Abramovitch is an impatient interfering billionaire with no knowledge of football. AVB got sacked because he was ***** - what part of that don't people understand?

May sound a bit of a strange one, but if the likes of Martinez, Rodgers and Lambert are linked with the job (out of the 3 I would have Lambert personally), is there any chance of Nigel Adkins? I believe he is a Liverpool fan and a scouser, worked wonders with Scunthorpe and has achieved back-to-back promotions with Southampton. He is a very good tactician and I don't think he would actually be that bad an appointment.

Now Nigel, what have we said about coming on here and trying to get your name onto the longlist, eh? Behave yourself and get back to focusing on staying in the championship.

Listen to yourselves, this is LFC still the most successful club in UK history and will be again, do you want a manager who has won trophies or a manager who is at a lesser club but has kept them up, if rodgers and co get their clubs into europe then fair enough but one good season in the prem is no qualification to manage LFC, Get real

Our under 11s won the league by 14 points, so by that logic we should appoint 'Big Dave' because he looks great too.

Good call mate adkins has done as much as lambert rogers and martinezif fsg are considering any of those why not adkins

You are a Joke, we would end up in the championship.
This is LIVERPOOL FC and any manager would join the club for the right money.

....or Iain Dowie?
Maybe Dean Windass or Graeme Souness would propel us back to the top?
ANFIELDPETE

ANOTHER ridiculous post !

He is scouse he supports Liverpoool, what the hell has that got to do with anything, please name me the last successful scouse manager we had !?

I went to school with one of his sons, he is indeed a Liverpool fan having initially come from Birkenhead and played for Liverpool youth as a goalkeeper. He isn't anywhere near the man we need though, yet.

Adkins most qualified manager in league , his boss at southampton Corteze would fight tooth and nail to keep him as he appointed Adkins and has big plans.

Adkins has won more in the game than either Lambert or Martinez. He is a team builder who plays pass and go. do not underestimate him.

"pass and go"? I thought pass and move, pass and move, were the Liverpool groov :D

rrrrrRRRED Alert

18 May 2012 11:48:46
Frank Rijkaard is the man recommended by Ian Ayre to the American owners. Watch this space!

If that is the case then Ian Ayre is an person for suggesting him and FSG would be equally stupid for appointing him...he is a horrendous manager.

Rijkaard would be better than Martinez..

He is already managing a club in the middle east hes on mega bucks

Already been rejected

Wont happen his agent has already come out and said that he will be sticking with his current team for the next year at least

Doesn't he have 18 months left in Saudi?

Why would they listen to a commercial expert in relation to a footballing matter. Might as well ask Mr Kipling about the NASA space programme for all the good it would do...

Ian Ayre is a business man, not a football man. He was hired by Hicks and Gillette. I wouldn't believe too much that the man says.

He wouldn't fill me with confidence it must be said

18 May 2012 11:42:11
Any chance of Laudrup ED? {Ed001's Note - no idea, I really don't know what FSG are thinking. But Laudrup is available.}

I would love to see Laudrup at Liverpool

18 May 2012 11:28:55
any chance of Michael Laudrup?

Next Lfc manager - Frank De Boer
50-60M transfer budget plus sales

Watch this space

Musty from Birmingham.

a "rumour" is now circulating that Liverpool want Fabio Paratici from Juventus as Sporting director, have you heard anything eds? {Ed001's Note - not a thing, nor can I see any reason for him to leave Juve to join the shambles that currently is Liverpool.}

I thought it was a strange one myself, typical journalism

Ed001, not having a go at all or disagree'ing, just looking for more of a justification. Why do you regard Liverpool as a 'shambles' at the moment?

Thanks, Ell. {Ed001's Note - because we have one guy in any kind of position of power in this country: Ian Ayre. A man who has shown a complete lack of any kind of leadership throughout the season. We have a team in transition. No manager, no director of football, no CEO to speak of, nothing. The whole club has been ripped apart and they still haven't begun to replace all these people they have removed. It is a shambles.}

Quick Question for ed01, Just wondering on your gneral opinion about the new owners, I know in the past, or at least I think, You were happy with the opionment of responsible owners as was I. Do you still feel as confident about them or has there been any change in your opinion of them. I also had aconversation with you about bringing daglish back, to which you said you wouldn't want him to come back as it might jepordise his icon status, I was all for it at the time and im still glad he came back but I think you may of been right on that occasion mate. {Ed001's Note - I think the owners are receiving extremely poor advice and have shown a complete lack of any football knowledge with their actions. But, they only need to get better advice.}

1 word challenge

How dare you talk about LIVERPOOL like that
never slag off EDS but I think you should button it

Even if we were in the conference dont ever call liverpool fc a shambles the fans are 99% of this club and we give love to our empire. owners just are caretakers its not that bad onwards and upwards maybe this chapter at our great club could be a blessing in disguise keep up the good work

18 May 2012 11:04:20
Eds, Villas boas has been rejected from Roma as they have signed another manager, does that mean he is looking likely to take the anfield Hot seat?

Yoyoman {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware, though the shortlist is such a long list I am sure his name must be, for some unearthly reason, on there somewhere.}

Ed001 whos your prefered choice to take the job at liverpool? {Ed001's Note - Bielsa. If not him Borrell has to be given the chance to prove himself, for my mind.}

Ed001. Sorry if this has been asked before but obviously you're not a fan of AVB joining Liverpool. So who would you like to see as the new manager

thanks {Ed001's Note - Marcelo Bielsa would be my fantasy choice. If not, I think there is only one man who deserves the opportunity: Rodolfo Borrell.}

Ed01. Rodolfo is brill, but will it hace a bad effect on reserves/academy or do we have enough cover already? {Ed001's Note - I believe we could manage. That is the place for Carra to start anyway, so a gap there could be useful.}

Andre Villas Boas is a good lad.

Bielsa would fail hugely in England {Ed001's Note - why? Because you say so and you obviously have no idea about the man? Bielsa is a genius.}

18 May 2012 11:09:18
I dont know where a shortlist of four is coming from? I have heard that LFC (like nearly everyone else) wanted Guardiola. However that is NOT going to happen. I have heard that we have at least 8 names on a list. The new DOF and CEO will be brought in first and then a panel will be put together to conduct interviews. From this a shortlist of 3 will be made and then FSG will meet with the panel and one manager will be selected. This could be rubbish but its a good source, and it makes sense when your dealing with American business men. Make of it what you will!

But they have already made initial approaches to speak to Rodgers and Martinez and probably more. It doesnt make sense if the new dof and ceo we dont have yet are gonna be doing the interviewing.

Martinez is flying out next week, perhaps a new DOF and CEO in by that time next week?

Mate I can only tell you what I was told! whether its true or not, I cant say. Just passing it on. However maybe the club are simply making approaches about availability to firm up their list??

18 May 2012 10:43:15
Eds, am sure you lads are up to your eyeballs in every candidate for the job including John Major, Brad Pitt and Elvis, but the rumours of Pep Guadiola coming are they complete "the sun" trash, or are we seriously thinking about him?? Would be a major coup of course if we pulled it off of course, but I have the feeling it is more likely I will bump into him in Samos, Greece in September than Liverpool next time i am over.

Ed's can pyou please confirm if this is total trash or if Pep is forsaking the backpack for sunny Liverpool ?
{Ed001's Note - I don't think there is a hope in hell of getting him, but they certainly have made the enquiry.}

Fair play to the club for trying anyway

I could have won something with that barca team remember the team he had awesome

Jose 'Pep' Segura is the Pep that is being promoted internally. Some journo probably hacked Ian Ayres phone and heard half a message.

Segura will become a bigger part in this.

Yeah fair play, I think he'd consider it in other circumstances, he's always been complementary of liverpool

Read what I posted today.

Out of all the managers we're being linked with, Guardiola would be the one for me but as you say it looks like Pie in the Sky...right?

Maybe not. The key to all this will be Txixi Berguiristain who Liverpool are so close to securing as Director of Football. Get him and I know for a fact the he would want Guardiola as the manager.

The fact he's taken a sabbatical is a kick in the weights and he would probably fear a Barce backlash after not signing a contract with them, but this isn't as ludicrous as first thought.

Txixi Berguiristain will have a massive sway in who will be Liverpool's next manager even if Guardiola isn't the man!

18 May 2012 10:36:24
the rumour i am hearing is that new Manager IS Martinez, and has been agreed already, FSG trying to decide who the new head of football is gonna be.

Not saying yourewrong but sounds a strange way to appoint people, Surley logical way would be to appoint a DOF and then see what he thinks/wants in terms of a manager.

Definately not decided and confirmed. There is at least four other managers that are being talked to. One is rafa. He is having a interview. Pep is wanted but not ready to commit to a interview yet wants more time to think about it. Cappelo is also wanted but wants to see what happens with chelsea. Not sure on who the other's are that are definately having a interview. I would presume , lambert and a couple more....

Who do you think our manager will be in 12 months time then, because there's NO WAY Martinez can improve on Kenny and that is the bench mark set by FSG.

Is this from one of your 'sauces'? What are they waiting for the announce it ? He may well get the job but as of yet no one has been given it as far we understand! Mike

How would it have been agreed already when he has still to fly to US for talks? Why would we approach Rodgers then if it has been agreed? Completely idiotic rumour!!

Frank De Boer would be the obvious choice.

The job is beyond him. you dont hire a martinez when you have a proven manager like benitez who's available. rodgers did the honourable thing and pulled out the running. wake me up in 6 months time when we are in the relegation zone and fans are calling for his head when they find out he can't handle a club of our size and expections.

The DoF is already in! its Jen Chang, a US Journalist. Martinez is not already decided you fool! We were only given permission to talk to him yesterday! {Ed001's Note - Jen Chang is not the DoF!!!}

So its already agreed but they havent even interviewed him yet? with other managers getting approached as well. Who ever is giving you your information is probably getting it from the S*N

Jog on, y would we go 4 a manager that has narrowly avoided the drop 2wce {Ed001's Note - 3 times actually.}

Sorry Ed, I meant Jen Chang is the new PR / Comms director! Not the DoF!

I never post rumours, just passing on what i heard, and i believe he will take us to a relegation fight

18 May 2012 10:25:15
Klopp staying at Dortmund
Capello to Chavski
Rodgers turns us down
AVB to Roma
Guardiola on sabatical

Shortlist is getting shorter. Why do I get the feeling the board haven't thought this through and we'll be sacking Roberto"16th" Martinez in 12 months time?

Unfortnately i think you may be spot on with this post mate

Keep up mate. Roma have appointed Vincenzo Montella

Not even.

They'll be grovelling to Kenny to have him rescue us AGAIN in February.

6 months, not 12.

I think Martinez will be sacked november 15th when we are bottom

Is martinez any better then kenny? He'll be another roy hodgeson, trust we will be in the same boat in 6 months time. Maybe the americans are thinking martinez will be cheaper, but at what price, they forget, wigan for most of the season were in the relegation zone! And lost 8 games in a row! Appears like abit of a farce all this!!! Any top names linked with the job, its a publicity stunt so they can give the impression they tired!

Rubbish, of course they have thought it through. Would you have wanted Capello?
Rodgers has not turned us down he is to inexpierenced,Gaurdiola was never an option and AVB failed at Chelsea and I suspect has looked for a softer option.

16th with a team with no fans, no money, and next to no ability to attract players isn't that bad, really is it? If he came 16th with Chelsea it would be different. {Ed001's Note - it is when they were 11th the season before he took over and he has made sure they finished lower than that every single season. By the way, Wigan do have more money than people think, Whelan has always backed his managers with funds.}

Capello not going to chelsea, AVB has not joined Roma. You did get the Pep bit right though

Frank De Boer would be the obvious choice.

Havent thought it through? there not soft, and thats why we are speaking to around 12 candidates for the job

AVB is not the new ROMA boss they went with someone else

I think most of ur predictions are right except AVB as Roma have preferred Montella and not sure about Capello, too. But that one, may happen. As for us, even, If Roberto is the manager, I hope, we(fans) would be behind him. May be, he can land us to success, again. You never know, Football is the crazy game. YNWA Trustme

Rafa is starting to look like the best bet and in my opinion were damn lucky to have a fan with his loyalty and talent. Also I agree with the ed, Wigans wage bill is also much higher than most the lower teams.

Martinez out by Christmas.

What an absolute shambles !

I am really begining to think it is between AVB or Martinez but hoping someone like laudrup gets it under the radar

Guinnessred8

When that Shankly fellah arrived he had no "experience" or "qualifications"
Wonder what happened to him?
But then he didn't have 12 year old muppets who thought that they knew how to run a football club to contend with

If Martinez came i'd support him 100%. It's a disgrace people are talking about someone as a failure before they even set foot in the door. No way Rafa is coming back. We need to start afresh.......if it's Martinez so be it. But the fans and the board should back whoever it is....because after careful deliberation it will be the best person for the job.

Personally , i believe that Martinez could start a fresh new feeling at Anfield , he reminds me of Guardiola in a way, and at liverpool he would really have more of an infrastructure to put his ideas into place, with the quality of squad significally higher at Liverpool, unlike Dalglish , he could bring in a bit of Foreign flair , which we desprately need! YNWA.

Owners have messed up should have given kenny another season to fix it he would have seen problems.have taken ANOTHER step back.

I can just see it now, Liverpool languishing in ninth at xmas, Fulham go 2-0 up at Anfield...Kop start chanting Rafa-Rafael, Rafa-Rafael.......hope the owners get this one right, or history is gonna repeat itself, this time with Rafa instead of Kenny.

We need to give the new guy a chance and stop longing for former idols.

The last year of football under Benitez was s**t. He's too defensive, couldn't sit through that again.

David

18 May 2012 10:19:19
Liverpool are in talks with Louis Van Gaal over the manager job.

They've been in touch with AVB, Martinez and Rogers as well, but I've heard that Van Gaal is their first choice.

We want a young manager for our 4-5 year plan! Louis Van Gaal,sorry but that is rubbish!!

No way, fsg want a young ambitious manager!

I hope you are right as he seems to be the candidate who ticks most boxes. Reality Red

I hope so. He's my choice - Lee

18 May 2012 10:18:20
Rodgers has rejected Liverpools approach, heard it first here

HullRED

I'd already heard it

As it goes it was reported on SSN at about 950
LeeWils

Heard it first on espn over an hour ago

Heard it on ssn first

Erm no, it was on Sky sports a few hours ago

Skysports is great isn't it...

I know turned down by the manager of swansea doesnt get much worse hope we get avb

No we heard it on sky first your well behind

SSN About 9 so heard it there first....lol

Well im quite relieved that rodgers turned us down now lets just hope martinz does the same or relegaion here we come

I didn't hear it first here it was on SkySports mate

18 May 2012 09:52:14
The emphasis seems to be on a tactical coach for a manager, do any of the eds know if Laudrup is that kind of manager? {Ed001's Note - he does have a very strong idea of the style of play he wants.}

18 May 2012 09:25:00
Hey Eds great job by the way, I am just wondering what you make of the bookie's odds, Martinez as short as 4/7, AVB 5s and Rodgers 5s! The bookies seem to think it will be between this three, however most of your comments would leave me to believe that it will not be any of these three? Mike {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware AVB is not in the running, Rodgers has rejected the chance to speak to us. So clearly the bookies haven't a clue as usual.}

Cheers mate! And that is reflected in the prices again, forever changing, but the internet sites seem to think Martinez is on his way! I say give him his chance!

Who is in the running the Eds in your honest opinion, could you narrow it down to maybe the 3 most likely? {Ed001's Note - no.}

Well rodgers said no and AVB says he's had no contact with any club.

18 May 2012 01:48:31
No decision will be made on manager til next week. Why?because we r waiting first to see what happens with di mateo after the champ league. U heard it here first.

Lee

This actually is the first place ive heard this 0_o

The bigger problem might be that Chelsea gazump us and get the manager we're after?!

dmedly

Capello is going to CHelsea. cannot see us going for DeMatteo
Robbie

No way he plays anti-football tactics

Think this is more of a educated guess since its friday and we have several interviews to do before making a decision.

He will become Capellos no2

Makes perfect sense.
can play attractive football as per west brom.
winning football as per chelsea
no compensation required
and is a lucky b**tard

Di Matteo anti football? He was known for playing attractive football at West Brom. Plus Chelsea have played some good stuff.

Wot a load of bull ......

You know when you have over 70 people thinking it's a stupid rumour that you shouldn't have posted it mate

Ask West Brom fans and management how good a manager they think he is. And to put his achievements at Chelsea into context - Avram Grant did just as well. When their backs are against the wall that crop of Chelsea players manage themselves...

He looks like a puffin.

David

18 May 2012 01:35:36
The new director of football is already in place and actively helping to recruit the new boss. I won't mention his name, suffice to say he has Spanish connections. Also Suarez is happy at the club and would only move if the club wanted him too, despite the drama early in the season only a huge offer would make FSG even consider selling him. My source will go out on loan next season. Cheers Wacca.

Your 'source' is the a s**te newspaper claiming that we are after Txiki. Get over yourself.

Is 'wakka' the evil version of 'Macca', like Mario and Wario?

Your just a day later than the press and a few months after the eds on this site. robinson is not your source

Ha "my sourse",if ppl put that does it sound more credible?

There seems to be an n missing from your name

Is 'wakka' the evil version of 'Macca', like Mario and Wario?

Never mentioned the name of my source, what else would I call him ? Reserve is quite general isn't it. I called the dozen names 24 hours before Sky. Wacca.

18 May 2012 01:04:16
Hi eds, in percentage terms, what are the chances of mourinho, rogers?
Thanks jayo {Ed001's Note - Mourinho is between 0% and 0%. Rodgers I have no idea though, I am sure Swansea will be approached for permission to talk to him, but I don't know if he will impress or even be given permission to talk to us.}

Sky sports are saying Rodgers turned us down. Not too bothered really just hope it doesnt become a pattern.

18 May 2012 00:27:16
Is the answer on our doorstep?=Moyes-he aint been mentioned.Is it 2 years left on his contract EDS? Worth a go? {Ed016's Note - lol. Just never going to happen...ever)

No way wtf,i'd rather saw my head off and have moyes s**t down my neck.omg get a grip.lfc will get it right,they have to..

red blancmonge

Listen David, for gods sake have some dignity, i know it can't be easy with those bluenosed knuckle draggers but this is not the way to get a new job.

I think you should sit the other side of the park next season for that comment! Are you sure your a red?

Would like it to happen
he needs to go to a big club that can win things everton aint a club that can win things nor are they a big club

You all sound a bit bitter to me!

Blue Bones

Would be a step down for moyes

Why would we appoint David Moyes? Apart from the local rivalry and the massive fall out if it happened, he has won nothing at Everton in the 10 years he has been there.

Not good enough for LFC.

Gaz1975.

The only thing red about Moyes is his hair!

I would rather swim in a vat full of Fergie's piss than have that twisted ginger t**t anywhere near our club.

Oh your so bitter!

Txiki Begiristain will be announced the new DOF tomorrow.

The top candidate currently being considered by FSG is Frank de Boer.

*** FSG are also preparing to meet managers who have only recently started their coaching career ***

Remember where you heard it first. (Mr. S)

Nice story!
Tomorrow means May 18th or 19th? :>

I will...twitter!

Aston Villa also had talks with Roberto Martinez today and Martinez rather want to move to Villa than Liverpool. He feels Liverpool is too early for him.

SLURed

Not true. Aston Villa have not been given permission by DW to speak to RM!

Please let it be true. Let Villa have him. I hate seeing his name linked with us!

Id happily pay his taxi fare to villa park!

I agree with thetwo boys. Don't want another one-season-wonder like that person Hodgson. Martinez, Rogers, Lambert, - I mean COME ON!! If AVB was their choice before Dalglish and he's available now, why is he not automatic choice now? He should represent the minimum in quality that we should get unless we can actually land someone like Klopp, Guardiola or Cappello.

Isnt Ole Gunnder Solskjaer supposed to be going to Villa ??

If this is true then fair play to Martinez for being grounded

You say that you don't want a one season wonder, and then say you want AVB!!

What the hell is he then if he's not a one season wonder?

Eds do you think that there is any possibility that Didier Descamps could move to liverpool? He is a great manager led Marsille to their first ligue 1 title after 18 years (similar to liverpools drought) {Ed001's Note - he has rejected us before, so I think it unlikely myself.}

He rejected it because he thought he is not ready for Liverpool.

He rejected us because he'd only just signed his contract
