The money is there for Allen and Dempsey signings. We just have to sell to buy after that. Expect 1 of Walcott and Tello to come in.

If FSG think the player is worth it they will spend. There is no set limit

Tello has just moved to Athletico madrid, Can't see Walcott coming. expect Mirallas.

miccmak

Has tello truly moved to atletico madrid Eds? {Ed049's Note - not sure}

Tello hasn't join Atletico, you don't know what you're on about..... on the other hand I can't see us signing him either nor can I see us signing Walcott or Mirallas

Dempsey looks nailed on, Allen is 50/50 (we won't pay over the odds, similar mistakes have been made ans won't happen again) I still feel there will be a surprise signing that none of us know much about.

Lfcmonkey

Yea tello went elsewhere, shame.

I will be deeply upset if we sign Walcott, people can sugar coat it and talk about pace as much as they want but he's not particularly good.

Walcott wants to much money. 100k/week not worth it

The money there? The indications are hat transfer monies needs to i effect be re-cycled or in other words to buy there has to be a sale.
FSG arent in this to just throw money at the club they are there albeit in the long run to make a profie. They arent benefactors and will be looking for a return on their investment.Harsh fact but reality I am afraid

Of course the money is there! Are we a 3 rd works club now?

FSG seemed to announce themselves in a flurry but where is the indication that they are going to push the boat out. I am not sure the money is there FSG arent a charity they are in it to earn a buck!
Borini isnt the sort of player that LFC would normally look at and after the big money flops namely Carroll, Henderson & Downing signings I cant help but feel the money has dried up and plan b now in place is a bigger gamble in that if SG or LS get injured LFC will be in the do do!

{Ed022's Note - Hi all. I just wanted to notify you all that there has been a pretty hefty update to the Player Profiles website. This update now allows you, the fans, to upload your own profiles on any player, in any league, in any position. So, now rather than seeing just my own opinion on a player, you can now see other fans' opinions also on those players, as well as dropping a comment and giving your own. This update has taken a fair bit of time and I'm hoping that you'll all use it to the full etc, and just to come over to the site and have a look. - www.player-profiles.co.uk - thanks all.}

Well done, appreciate the work all the ED's do. {Ed029's Note - Thank you, your appreciation is in turn appreciated. These types of comments make it worthwhile giving up our spare time}

I'm hoping to christ that trolls don't catch wind of this. fingers crossed.
derryred

Eds thats why I love your site........... You give importance for our feelings..........

Very cool! Thanks, Ed022 (and all Eds)!

RDL

Go on ed22. just anor reason why this site is the best there is./ cheers

redfast

Nice one Eds good to see a lot of effort is going into making these already addictive sites even better.

Hi Ed's any truth in the rumour that Liverpool have joined Chelsea and Newcastle in the race to sign Marseille's £8million-rated right-back Cesar ? {Ed002's Note - His name is Azpilicueta. Liverpool have not made any approach to Marseille at this time but I guess if Glen Johnson were to leave then he would be a possible target.}

The way i heard it was that Chelsea have the deal basically wrapped up

Would love to see this lad at lfc good players

Did we sign a striker named Armin Hodzic?

Sj

Played for Reserves against USA and scored a great goal.

Youth team I think. 16 year old.Prolific scorer for club and National U17's (Bosnia I think)
CR

Gave him a trial last summer and offered him a 6 year deal, he didnt join till this summer though. Scored 46 goals in 20 Bosnia u17 league games as a 15 year old.

Think so he is currently on tour with reserves and scored a fabulous chip against USA under 20s

Martin Caceres has said he would ''love to play along Luis at Juve''. He also said ''Maybe in our spare time during our rest days at the olympics i can convince him to leave last season and its troubles behind him in england and join me at a big club, Luis is a big player and deserves to play at a big club, We will see''

Im starting to think Suarez only brought up the whole evra situation again because he knew FSG would be angry about it and they would sell him, He has allready been told by FSG to not talk about it again.

So will he go to Juventus? Owen

Big club? How many times have they won the European Cup? What a handle head.

Think we could accuse them of tapping him up? Have they got 35 Million?

Something out of nothing, you must worry a lot.

Juve have a good dream but that too big for them.

When was the last time that 'big club' managed to afford a 'big' player like Suarez.

It seems the wheels are beginning to get into motion. I cannot see him being at Anfield in September.

Disney!

Yea and Juve got £35 million from where? The euromillions ? Get real no Italian club apart fron AC Milan have any money, and they only have it because they have sold Silva and Ibra. {Ed002's Note - And Palermo, and Juve have money put aside and some interesting trades they will put on the table.}

I'll be sad if we lose his talent, will be glad to getrid of the man. So hard done by!!

Of course! Just before Luis signed with Liverpool in Jan 2011 he dreamed to play for Juve in the future. That's why he made the problem with Evra. Because he wants to play for a big club - Juve. Ha-ha!

Why would any player want to stay if they are not supported by the clubs owners? I wouldn;t begrudge him for leaving and wouldn't be surprised if the owners actions stopped any Uruguayan wanting to join us or indeed any foreign player - no wonder we are just looking at failed players and rejects from other Premiership clubs such as Walcott!

I can see him leaving maybe, but not to Juventus - maybe to someone who stumps up 50 million, Juventus do not spend money, a very quick check and it appears they have spent in total in the last 10 years just over 72 million - in 10 years ( if the website is to be believed ), their most expensive signing was 17.5 million.

John B

Sorry I must be have been dreaming when I heard Brendan Rodgers say that Suarez was looking forward to working with him and that Liverpool where arranging his contract extention!

Benzo

72 million spent and the delivered the title that's a well run club

I know we all love el pistolero, but think of how this could improve our club.. we could get the couple quid Juve do have left in their pockets, Pirlo the 50yr old midfield maestro (who would essentially pull the same scam Aquilani went along with and leave after a season/ retire), or perhaps 50% ownership of Kracis along with 20% ownership of a half dozen youngsters and 5% ownership of the toilet in the lower west wing of the Juve training facility...

How can you say that's not a good deal?! Surely the italians didn't get to the pinnacle of world business without knowing a thing or two about it :)

#sarcasm if you didn't catch on yet; also can't wait to whoop them in the champsleague soon, just like we did in 05! azkop

He won't leave. Liverpool are a big club, obviously. But don't slag Juve, they are a massive club with a massive history. If there is a foreign club that closely mirrors the achievements and history of Liverpool, it's Juve. I see a lot of similarities.

He did not say that mate he said they never talked about juventus

We would win the italian league,crap league noway suarez would go there spain maybe to a team who have 40 to 50m to spend.

20 Jul 2012 21:29:13
**** Suarez if he wants to leave. And love him if he doesn't. I support Liverpool not Luis Suarez unless he plays for Liverpool. No one player is bigger then Liverpool. End of!
Iced Red

Boltons Mark Davies being lined up as Joe Allens replacement

Mark

He maybe the money-grabbers replacement (Sigurdsson)

He is at a big club, actually a massive club. Footballers can be quite stupid.

Gibzkit.

I think you are easily fooled. The sad thing is it was to yourself. Go on troll and put something relevant rumour wise. If you want to banter there is a place for it.

'Luis is a big player and deserves to play at a big club'. Cheeky get.

I don't think Juve could afford the £50 million to buy him.

Luis Suarez loves it at Liverpool and all the support he gets, it's also in his personality to love being the star player and the first name on the teamsheet. He would really suffer if he was at a different club that didn't appreciate him as much and found himself on the bench and not a regular starter.
He's establishing and enhancing his reputation as a great footballer with Liverpool and I think he knows he has a chance to become a legend with us.
kidmillions

Cacr.. Whatever... Knows that liverpool at just as big if not bigger than juve?
AnfieldUSA

Juventus bigger? newly promoted? least we havnt been that low for i dont even know. haha, green eyed monster!

20 Jul 2012 01:02:56
Suarez could possibly move to the Turin club in the summer

If he loved it at Liverpool, I rather suspect he would avoid this topic of discussion with the press. I'm sure the timing of the comments from his Uruguyan teammate shortly after his was a complete coincidence as well. And his very public to Juventus- nothing in that either.

I'd say he's pretty clearly angling for a move out while trying to remain a 'fan favorite' such that the blame falls on the owners/managers (and he gets to keep his loyalty bonus).

Not like he's done anything similar before...

I have heard that one of the Liverpool scouts has just come back from watching affellay in Barcelona over the last four days? Any truth in this?

Nick {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

Why do people start with "i have heard" then ask the eds, do they not trust their source of are they just making stuff up

Affelay is a poor player, just a cheaper version of downing

Nope not making it up! That is what I have heard, problem is I live about 300 miles away from Liverpool and difficult to get solid info here and the eds are all wise and powerful and closer to Liverpool than I!

Nick

1. What would they learn that they don't already know?
2. What would they be watching him do exactly? He's just cut short his holiday for discussions which is where the majority of the rest of the squad will still be ( or preparing for the Olympics in some cases). What will the scouts watch him do - 'keepie uppie

Lads its a rumour site... dont be slating people for posting what they've heard ! For all we know the lad did hear it and is running it by the Eds.. No biggie !!

Quite possible, Liverpool have a number of scouts in Spain, wouldn't read too much into that alone.

Ed, possibly not liverpool related but is Isco of Malaga available and what clubs are currently interested, if any?

Many thanks
Amz {Ed002's Note - Barcelona have shown some interest in Isco but I am not so sure Malaga would want to sell. Rumours of Real Madrid being interested as well.}

19 Jul 2012 16:21:07
eds all reds im about to mention the "c" word! cavani! thoughts , if we can spend , say , 10 million on 2 or 3 players , then we could spend 30 million on cavani or someone of equal ability and class. further more , if carroll and downing were sold , as seems likley , even though i would like them to stay , surley 30 million would be brought in for these 2 players. the next thing is wages. cavini , we are told , would command massive wages which we cant afford. whats happened to the theory, tht fsg spend big on contracts if the outlay isnt to big? the outlay would be zero , carrol and downings fee, so that obsticle dealt with . next , champions league football . all that could be said to players like cavani is , well qualify with you on board! suarez still here , gerrard , reina , agger , lucas , johnson , skretel, we just need to finish off the team up top with equal class. i feel for carroll and downing , and ive got a bad feeling , if they leave ittl come back and bite us on the arse! one thing that wasnt tried with ac and sd was 3 up top, downings best season , the one before we signed him , was with bent centre, young right , downing left , or switching. why coulnt that have worked with carroll centre, suarez right , downing left? it seems we ll never know!. just to finish off , if we could spend enough on rameriaz, that woul finish things off ! no doubt ill be told we cant afford this , we cant do that etc etc . have we even tried? before you all shoot me down in flames , just think about it please , and remember what our chairman said , " we can compete with the biggest out there" . godbless 96 all reds. steviep62. {Ed002's Note - No chance of Cavani - sorry.}

I admit it would be hard to sign cavani but i wouldn't say it would be out of the question? Napoli didn't qualify for the champions league did they? {Ed002's Note - Cavani will not be moving to Liverpool this summer.}

We cannot attract that kind of player, we have to concentrate on making the team the Star rather than signing individuals, that's why we employed a manager that can build said team. When we where arguably the best team in the world we didn't sign Maradonna or Cruyff, we didn't need to! We had a great team.

I am entirely with u in that mind set ..also debts were wiped several wages removed from bill low overheads...of you look at the 'other' big teams they have debts and pay stupid wages to 20 players not just 3 or 4 so yeh I concur !

Why does everyone think Cavani is the player we should be going for? We can buy a player of the same standerd for much less elsewhere.

Tevez would be a better option and to be honest it is about as likely to happen anyways.

Rob

Never gonna happen why would he wanna join a team that is effectively in freefall you ain't the team you use to be you ain't been like that for going on 20 years
& you ain't gonna get him for 30mill either

Glory glory man utd

Ed02 never ceases to crack me up...this made me chuckle...after a long spiel about cavani, the reply is great..."no chance of cavani"....BRILLIANT!!!!

Gory gory 1 man-utd watch when your manager retires and howard web leaves you, you lot will end up in the championship where you belong.

Lil Red

Rob i agree mate i did say " or of equal ability and class" tevez would be one and there are others , cavani because he is a very good player , teamate of suerez , etc etc. was more interested in the idea of the financial outgoings , what had been said by fsg and werner in particular. steviep62

With respect to the top-tier players, it's irrelevant what WE (LFC) want. No question, if push came to shove and we really, really wanted someone, we could come up with the finances.

The thing you are forgetting is that the top players know money is not an issue--they are going to have wads of money thrown at them by any potential suitor.

So, it really comes down to selecting a team with the prospects of playing big games and tournaments, chances of winning, teammates and manager and the city itself.

So, take money out of the equation, why is Cavani or any other elite player going to be choosing LFC...at least, at this stage of our reincarnation?

Not much glory last season if i remember correctly..........

Liverpool are a club on the decline, some of your lots rumours and suggestions are so funny.

Why is everyone so convinced that cavani wouldn't sign for us?? I no we're not in the champions league but come-on surely like someone else STATED up from me! We ain't paying silly wages to 10 or 15 players so why can't cavani sign with Suarez and Coates in the team I really do think it is possible!! And plus I'd u look online cavani has stated he would love to play for Liverpool, so surely it could be possible, I think if fsg pulled there fingers out of there bung holes then it would definitely happen!
Camsmack

Damn i think its funny people still ask about cavani... But to sa that we can get same quality for a much better prize, and then u mention tevez? thats just hillarious... Cavani is by far one of the best strikers in the world, and if u dont agree, then u better start watching some fotball m8...

Cavani allmost definately would not sign for us.

But you never know until you try

The truth is he won't sign this summer, our main priority is getting in the top 4 but my point is napoli didn't qualify for the champions league so its not like were in a worse position than his current club napoli. At the end of the day nobody knows on this who were gonna sign. Hope we go on and have a great season, weve been out of the mix for a long time in the premiership and its so disappointing.

Chances of Cavani signing for LFC

Zero. None. Not a chance. More chance of hell freezing over. More chance of Elvis coming back from the dead as Gauranga.

GOT IT?

NONE! ZERO!

A+ in Sarcasm eh? What do you know anyway who's your sauce big daddy ketchup!

19 Jul 2012 15:59:43
LFC are closely monitoring Dries Mertens during his pre-season matches.

This isnt a rumour, it is just an observation! I think that with the way rodgers plays (4-2-3-1) i think that the striker is the most important position we need to get. The type of striker we need is an all round one who can hold the ball up, win the ball in the air, score, dribble and has pace. For me the only realistic player would be cavani. There has been alot of doubts about us getting him as he is a great player and we are not a great team but we are a great club with a very prestigious past

Cavani is unrealistic mate, we wont be paying his asking wage...... Trini_red

19 Jul 2012 15:55:15
Alright for ed 2 really a few Dutch Papers r sayin we r in for mertens do u have any info on this I did use tfsf and saw that u said bayern was his likely destination if he was to move just wondering if u know of any changes

Cheers kopman {Ed002's Note - I don't see Mertens moving to LIverpool - if he moves this summer I suspect it may well be to Bayern Munich although there is interest from Lazio.}

Bayern rumours are from months ago, and if he moved there he'd still be behind Ribery,Robben and Mueller! Not to mention they've also just signed Shaqiri who also plays in the same position.

19 Jul 2012 14:33:26
are we still interested in Rasmus Elm {Ed002's Note - I don't know.}

19 Jul 2012 15:19:51
The deal for Allen will be done before Swansea fly out to the USA this weekend.

ssssssssssson

Do it after, that way they will pay for his flight!
Put me in charge of transfers I'm allready saving us money.
RNred

Please no he is so poor a player, when the likes of Ramirez is up for grabs why do we keep getting taken for mugs and then spend big on very average players?

Allen is with team GB at the olympics so wont be going regardless

Allen is not a poor player at all he is really composed in possetion and has a good engine on him in today's market 12 million for a talented 22 year old not bad plus his wages wouldn't be astranomical so good buy IMO

Davros flatley

What makes you think Ramirez is better than Allen?

Allen is a poor player? Do you know anything about football son?

Last season was the best passer of a ball in europe. Just what we need in the middle. He will be the first player we have had since Alonso that can control the game with his passing.

Rob

Not sure about him being the best passer in Europe, think that was his team mate Britton. However Allen is still high up and if you take into account he and Britton played the most games in the top 30 passers in Europe I think it speaks volumes both for the system Rodgers employs and also the ability of the players themselves

But do we really need another CM along with Gerrard, Adam, Lucas, henderson, spearing and shelvey. someone down the left and the right may be a better option...

Whats the swansea tour got to do with it?
Allen's in theOlympic squad

We do need another cm because the only one in there who is good enough is gerrard the rest are average

19 Jul 2012 15:03:48
Rogers has confirmed interest in Allen and with Michu ariving this looks promising. I am Delighted so far with the way we have conducted our business. COME ON YOU RED MEN.

Scouse Ben

Surely you can't be delighted with the way Andy Carroll is being treated? che47

You think what we are doing to someone who in the last 10 years has actually wated to stay and prove himself (carroll ). you think that is good for our club ( NO NOT AT ALL ) its pathetic and shows no-one is safe .....

How can u be delighted with another average player we are going to pay over the odds for.

I agree with u Ben and all u people going on about carroll your happy r u that we pay 35 mill for a player getting paid 75 grand a week who only performs in the last 6 games of the season and before u say he was injured like alot of peple have said that was the season b4 , i wud rather we buy players like allen , dempsey etc who will give there all .... steve

We're not signing cavani nor gaston ramirez stop bitching and get over it allen is a cfracking player and if you can't see that you obviously either haven't watched more than you tube clips or know sod all about footy, also carroll has been pretty cack for us players get moved on stop moaning
antaintree

Delighted how you have conducted business? Manager saying he is interested in two players and bids are basically eminent. Dempsey on FSG owned website as signed. Stay class Liverpool.

How can you be delighted with the way we have conducted our business ? NESN posts that we have signed Dempsey, then pull it. Fulham say, no bids received. Same with Allen, no bids received and as for Carroll, the manager says he's not going anywhere on loan, then the next day says he can go if there is a good enough offer. Why didn't he say that initially. A lot of speculation, but doesn't seem to be a lot happening. I'm hoping things will fall in to place soon and we can all look forward to better things this season.

Was not sure about Rodger's appointment but the man look's classy in interviews and gives me hope that in the forthcoming season or 2 we may be back in the CL and giving it a right good go in the EPL

19 Jul 2012 15:24:51
Ed002,
With your inside knowledge; could you confirm if BR has an agreement with Swansea about not signing any of their players? Not in anyway having a go at BR and from what I've heard and seen of him seems like a man of real character but would hate to think a verbal or contractual agreement is is not being upheld if reports are true. cheers! {Ed002's Note - As I have said, I do not know of any agreement between the clubs or Rodgers, nor, if there is an agreement, the content of it. With interest in Allen, it seems unlikely any agreement exists.}

Sky Sports have just commented that there is indeed an agreement that limits BR's opportunities to sign Swansea players. It is that BR cannot sign a Swansea player until and unless another club is showing an official interest (a bid) in the same player. That is, rather than have a player go for a falsely low price from Swansea to LFC, there must be an auction taking place. Clause in effect for 12 months.

Even if an agreement does exist, money talks!, and may be that will be an exception to any agreement made. I'm fairly sure that Swansea are reasonably comfortable financially, but wouldn't want to pass up the chance of recieving that kind of money. If a deal can be done, then Liverpool must get him, Allen has shown what he can do in the premier league and is proven quality, he might be the long term answer for the sorely missed Alonso.... I want LFC to sign him. Ant B {Ed002's Note - There is no point in having an agreement if it is simply a matter of money - Swansea could still ask what they want.}

19 Jul 2012 14:34:54
the only way lfc would ever get cavani is if we kept suarez, and somehow got champions league next year we might have the slightest chance of getting him... but i would definatly not get your hopes up..

Mate why spend all of that money on one star for a position we already made 2 record signings to fill. if we spend big then we do so on a winger or someone of that ilk.
derryred

I'm afraid without Cavani NO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
C'est la vie.

I dont think cavani will come to liverpool, he asking 150k weekly salary

Derryred, i was saying we couldn't get him even if we wanted to not that we are...

19 Jul 2012 13:35:49
I heard today that LFC want to sell Carroll and Downing and hope to get around 30million for the pair. Allen, Dempsey and Walcott are on the radar.

Hmm only a loss of £24m, a combined wages of over £5m with one of the players possibly at his lowest value in years. Perfect sense.

Where have you been for the last 2 weeks?? This is hardly ...

Doubt it would happen but wouldn't mind it. Although I think Carroll should b given until January to prove himself downing should b sold now though

I seriously do not want any of them 3 at liverpool

I would like to see Downing leave. He did nothing at all on the pitch last year at all. Carroll is another matter, he looks to have come good at the end of last year and at the Euros, I would keep him but I aint the manager.

Gaz1975.

Can you see Downing fitting into the 4 3 3 formation and the style of play to come? I can't. We should cash in

Downing should be sold. and none of the three should be signed. i think we should go for afellay rather than dempsey. i just have the feeling that dempsey will just be like adam. afellay is lot better than him. and we should really push for ramirez

I hope it is true? Adam needs to go with them as well

Sky Sports reports that Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has received offers from other clubs and has given no guarantees about his future at Anfield. However, he added: "I am a player of Liverpool because I have a valid contract here. There exist a number of offers but without the permission of Liverpool nothing can move forward."

Oh no! that sounds to me like hes keen on the idea of going!

Sounds like Skrtel wants something "to move forward". One good season doesnt make you a world class player. £20million to City should do me fine. BR Anfield Revolution

He didnt reli sound to enthusiastic about wanting to stay he was jst saying iv got a contract so what will b will be basically

If Skrtel wants to leave then we should let him go. Sell him for 20million & give Coates a chance. He is a youngster who starts for a country who is ranked 2nd in the world. He has huge potential, but needs game-time.

He is a no-nonsense defender who is good at what he does, nothing more. I would be much more worried to lose Agger than Skrtel.

JRG

He didnt reli sound to enthusiastic about wanting to stay he was jst saying iv got a contract so what will b will be basically

If he feels that he is being held back because of his contract at a great club then let him go... I don't want any players at the club that aren't willing to die for the club... You can't tell me that players want to go to Cheaty, Chavski or Spuds because of their History... All they see is money...

Hope not, we need to keep our defenders we were solid last season especially the first half of the season. If he did go, i am sure we will be okay but dont like losing our best players just hope suarez doesnt go thats who i am worried about.

Is this translated to english? Hopefully that explains the tone because there's zero enthusiasm to be a Liverpool player in that.

I he want sto go let him go, we need Coates to play more, he is the future of Liverpool

Eds,shed any light on what the skrtel situation is? {Ed001's Note - there are interested clubs, but so far Liverpool are not interested in selling him. Note the so far bit, because I believe that will change once the forward areas and midfield are sorted. So it might have to wait until January, but I do believe that a big enough offer would be taken, that he is not seen as indispensable.}

His new contract talks, have stalled,so it sounds like he's engineering a move away.I say let him,as he's under contract and we can get a top price for him .Kelly and Coates will not let us down given a good run in the side.

Thanks for last season Martin but we'll take £20m for you any day...step up Coatesy

To be fair i can understand him wanting to go to city if they want him, but if we can get 20 mil + then i think we should definitely sell theres better out there

If true,let's sell 20 million to city, we have carra and Kelly to fill in that position and use the money wisely what I think Rodgers seems to be doing.

Piglet

Let him go, he's easily replaceable. Feed up with all these Liverpool fans banging on about the past all the time. At the moment we can't compete with clubs in the top 4. Presuming both Manchester clubs & Chelsea will be in the top 4 this season, we have to compete with spurs, who currently are better thaan us & arsenal who have a knack of qualifying for CL football. We can't attract to players in or current situation & fans who keep banging on about players moving for money, these are teams who are competing for top honours too. Let's not start sounding like NUFC fans & get realistic!

Gav the Red

Get rid thers plenty more like him if not better for half the price agger on the other hand would be a loss

I don't get all this disregard for Skrtel. He was good 2 years ago, and great this year. Agger is talented but he might as well go to another club as his health has always kept him out anyway. If they want to splash the cash on an injury case throw Agger to the wolves.

I still have my doubts about him. he does defend well however he is all over the attackers like a rash and looks like every time we defend a set piece he is going to give away a penalty

You really should have posted the full article. He goes on to say, if he gets a new contract, he could stay, but talks have stalled.

To me this is more to do with getting what he wants, than looking to engineer a move. I would suggest he has asked to be on similar terms to Agger & Carra and the club won't agree to that unless his form continues. Also he's late 20's so if a good offer is received a replacement could be found cheaper and on far less wages. Or indeed coates steps up and a replacement is found for coates ie young backup.

My guess is that player swap plus 15m sounds fair.

barrabas.

Skrtl is amazing and you would obviously want him in your squad, but with coates we have an ideal replacement who can play the ball out of defence and score goals(qpr anyone?) and is a solid defender aswell, him and agger could be the way forward in an all out attacking new look liverpool, a back four of johnson,agger,coates and enrique is an amazingly versatile back four with any of them being able to join into and attack. Its a win win situation either way but i for one and eager to see these youngsters come into the first team, there are some real gems coming through the ranks and it might not be too long in the future that liverpool become a very very good football team, give it a year and then we can maybe sign one or two of these big name players you all want, but until then lets see what borini,sterling,suso,coates & co can do......BRING IT ON!!

Changa The Clown

Coates, Kelly, Wilson, Wisdom, Sama and the old warhorse Cara. We have more than enough cover in this area. Would I want to see Agger or Skrtel leave? No, but if they did we easily have enough good players who can fill the breach. Plus I'm sure they would both fetch a pretty penny which we could spend on a winger and or striker - our weaker area at the moment.

I like Skrtel, but he was really only top drawer last season. The previous year he was poor and before that he was okay, but not brilliant.

Now I don't actively want rid of him, particularly with Jamie's age and Agger's injury record, but he is replaceable. If someone offered us silly money, say £15m+, I'd take it.

- Something Red -

Just bring in coates or wilson instead and get a decent player with money like walcott

Keep him. We need a settled defence considering our midfield and strike force might be chopped and changed pretty soon.

Gaz1975.

It makes a lot more sense to sell Skrtel for 20m and promote Coates, than to sell Carroll...

In my opinion I think this could happen:
Suarez and carrol out for a combined 55 million. Then they will be replaced with Ramirez and Matias Suarez for about 30 million. I also think we may look to Munian again but he would cost around 25 million I'd say.

And is there a reason why you think that? - bad message if we sell our only world class player - I mean Saurez, not Carroll.

John B

Thank god u dont have a say in our transfers. Are u crazy?!

No please no if we sold them i would take a combined 70 mil 40 mil suarez 30 mil carrol but 55 mil for two player that are only going to get better is a rubish deal

I think you underestimate how good Luis Suarez really is, and i know for a fact that BR really isn't looking to move him on at all.

Starting a season with
all strikers that hasn't played in the PL would be a Rookie move by the Owners and BR.

rather sell Carroll(17m), bellamy(2m) & Downing(11m) for 30m. That would take away the need for one of the three names you mentioned. Maybe get Dempsey and Matias Suarez or Kevin Mirallas.

Suarez and Carroll for £55 million ? More like £70-£75 million. Carroll £20-£25 million. Suarez £50 million.

Suarez is a good player I agree! But he is yet to prove he is world class! He couldnt hit a cows ass with a banjo last year! And his constant mouthing off doesnt help (neither does 2 bans in 2 years!). He needs to have a fantastic season this year, or I think they will look at moving him on next summer!

He had an off year for Liverpool ,he is 25 and is world class ! You obviously have no idea. If Suarez takes his current form into Liverpool ,good luck to the rest !I think he could be top scorer of the pl

I mean if you think Suarez couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo ...nice. Then Andy Carroll couldn't hit thin air. I mean confidence was low though the team last year which is a reason for his low conversion rate 'on occasion'! I mean you must have been asleep through some of his games, I mean the Norwich hat trick was proof enough that he is world class.

This is absolute rubbish ..... what country are bothe players from !!! why would we sell suarez because he would be the reason they come to us fool ...

20m 25m 30m for Carroll? Behave.

55m isn't far off.

If we got £35m for Suarez I think that would be about right (not that we should sell?)
Leaving £20m for Carroll, which
We'd be lucky to get.

People saying 70m or 80m need a reality check.

Suarez is a £50million player - sell him and we make a huge mistake. We need to build a squad around Suarez & Gerrard.

This is absolute rubbish ..... what country are bothe players from !!! why would we sell suarez because he would be the reason they come to us fool ...

Well guys, I am afraid that Suarez is on the exit doors...

Suarez is apsulute quality, i wouldn't sell him for £55m alone. I think he had an unlucky year last season and the ban didnt help, he's already scored to hatrics since the season finished. He's goin to come into next season flyin and likke the fela above said probably finish top scorer.

Luis suarez was obviously affected by racism row and the fact that the players around him were playing poorly. Have you not seen him for uruguay he scores everything

I mean do you really have to start every sentance with I mean, I mean people will probably still undersatnd what you are saying without the over use of the phrase I mean, I mean Suarez has done nothing since being at Liverpool to justify any rise in the price we paid for him, I mean with the ban he got it and the reason for it a drop in price probably isn't out of the question, I mean I'm not saying sell him cause he is top notch, I mean we want to keep our best players, I mean but lets be reasonable and not get excited about players cause they can pull off a few fancy tricks, I mean he did only score 11 league goals last season, I mean on a par with the likes of Holt and Morrison, I mean they're hardly world class players,

I mean Iman Imean

The only reason we would get Ramirez is because of Suarez

Yes, you are mean! But right about Suarez - his finishing was generally poor last year and he owes us a big season.

Suarez isn't a £50mill pound player! £25mill at best, the very best, not enough goals and a very bad reputation!
also the players mentioned will not be arriving at anfield!

You are a dreamer buddy!! Stick to fantasy football in your fantasys!!

Liverpool fans are crazy!in wat world is a striker (suarez) who scored only 11 goals and 3 assists in the league last season worth 50+ mill?12 players scored more goals than suarez last season and some of them players are hardly world class(dempsey,ba,graham,fletcher,holt,yakubu)the above players would cost no more than 10 mill each so wat on earth makes suarez worth 50 mill?they would be very lucky to get 30 mill for him!good player in fairness but nowhere near world class!

Ed002, can you please clarify whats the situation with Athletico Bilbao's forward Loriente? Is he available and if so around what price do you think he may be released for? Is it at all possible? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Fernando Llorente is interesting Spurs, PSG and Manchester City with rumours of interest from Arsenal and Manchester United as well. Barcelona are considering their future options which may involve a move for the player. There is a very good chance that he will move this summer.}

I doubt we'd want him as I don't think he'd fit in with Rodgers plans. Just anoher big lump. if he doesn't fancy Carroll then he won't want Llorente either.

'Just another big lump'.

Obviously, you have never seen him play.

Ginger Rodgers

I have seen him play many times. If he was in our team then the ball would just be hoofed up to him. Same as with Carroll. He is slow. Same as Carroll. He has the turning circle of the Titanic. Same as Carroll. Overrated. If he wasn't Spanish no one would want him.

Sorry for the negativity but how are spurs linked with so many more big name players than us. What do they have that Liverpool don't. I'm from Australia and you won't see a spurs supporter anywhere its all Liverpool man u and arsenal. I just don't understand how that club can be seen as just as attractive or even more attractive in siggurdson's eyes for example. Sorry for the rant but it just baffles me

Llorente is slow?! The guy has blistering pace, tremendous skill and can turn on a sixpence. Did you not see his performances against Manchester United last season? I am sure that SAF, for one, would disagree with your statement. For me, the guy has everything and I just wish that he played for us. No way is he overrated and were it not for the fact that Bilbao have consistently refused to sell him, as well as his loyalty to Bilbao, I have little doubt that he would have moved to one of the top European sides years ago.

Sorry, forgot to sign my previous post.

Ginger Rodgers

Being 'linked to' and 'buying' are 2 different things. Spurs wont buy any so-called bg player. And Gylfi Sigurdsson went for the money.

Llorente is that good that Spain would rather play no strikers than play him. Even Negredo (who is awful) got picked ahead of him. He has not got blistering pace. Walcott, Lennon have. Any team that pays more than £12 million will have been ripped off.

I guess that we will have to agree to disagree. Maybe explosive pace is a better description. I don't think though that Spain's failure to play him at the Euros is because he isn't 'that good'. If that was the case, why take him at all? In a team that was that good, why reinvent the wheel? I think that the latter has more to do with his failure to play than lack of ability but just my humble opinion.

Hi Eds been hearing rumours of a possible transfer embargo its all depending on Modric.... yes modric... when he goes for £35 mill the tables will turn... ladders will fall and the chain and ball will start rolling...
Spurs will put in a decent bid for Adebayor....=£10mill. Man C will then buy RVP for £29 mill.. Arsenal will then buy M'villa £17 mill and LFC will then bid £18 mill for wallcott... {Ed002's Note - Embargo?}

Think he means merry-go-round, based on newspaper talk and guesswork possibly.

Can't see why Man C would need to sell Ade before buying RVP for £29...

Embargo means that the transfers will stop, and another interesting thing is RVP wouldn't cost nearly 29m and Spurs have agreed a fee for Adebayor of 6m.

So nice making up but better luck next time.

Ben (Am I correct Ed?)

I think the word your looking for is spending spree.

Mancity have all ready agreed a fee for 5m, its his wages that are the problem.

WB

Walcott's in his last year of his contract and he isn't worth £18M if he just signed a new contract.

Heard a bid of 6m was accepted for adebayor, just personal terms aren't agreed yet, so it's not all dependent on modric..

18 mil jees what is it with liverpool and paying ridiculously over the odds

That doesnt make sense at all, why would arsenal wait to sell rvp before bringing in a defensive mid, and then sell walcott!
mvilla would not be a replacement for either so it wouldnt matter when they are sold

Surely the chain would get caught on something while the ball was rolling?

Your sentiment is spot on unlike your use of the English language

I would be suprised if we did go for walcott he is all speed no brain and cant finish... ask any arsenal fan what they think of him .......

With Michu having a medical at Swansea could this trigger the Allen transfer to happen?

Maybe he was replacing sigurdson or maybe they want to bolster their squad.
just a thought. the fact that we bought borini doesn't guarentee we will be selling a striker, although you could be correct and he can arrive tomarrow for all i know.

Hello Eds
Any progress in Dempsey or Joe allen Deals ?
also any further info on Bellamy's move to Cardiff and Carroll saga ? {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new I am aware of this morning.}

Someone mentioned about Malaga's apparent financial problems yesterday, so with that in mind, do the eds know if the likes of Rondon, Cazorla or Isco could be available this summer?

We've been linked with Rondon, but I think Cazorla would be a fantastic addition to our 1st team

RedSG {Ed002's Note - The players could all be available.}

Ed002 - Whats happened with Malaga? I thought they were gonna be a financial power of sorts (were they not bought recently by wealthy arab owners) {Ed002's Note - They were bought a couple of years ago by a minor Qatari Royal. There has been a cash flow problem which is now resolved. I suspect that further investment in the club will be constrained.}

Ed002.. Wasn't Malaga taken over by wealthy owners? {Ed002's Note - A member of the Qatari Royal family.}

Ed do you think we are interested in any of those players? {Ed002's Note - The was rumoured interest in Rondon but the price Malaga was asking for him was very high. So I doubt it.}

Malaga are owned by the same people who own PSG. So yeah their skint :s {Ed002's Note - No they are not.}

REMEMBER WHERE YOU HEARD 1ST

EXCLUSIVE.

Stuart downing is being offerd to clubs for 12m. West brom, West Ham and Swansea are reported to be interested

96YNWA

Yeah right, because all of the clubs you have mentioned are likely to break their record signing fee for Downing!

Unbelievable - where do you get your information from - it took more than a week for Brendan Rodgers to say - every player is available if an acceptable offer is made - and you come up with this - you are obviously within the inner circle at LFC, Ian Ayres secretary I presume.

John B

And from who did you hear this snippet of information from?......IF ANY TRUTH in this, then just swap him for Joe Allen, if Downing would go to any of these clubs

Hope this is true. I wouldn't give 12p for him. Kenny's worse signing. Can we throw Spearing in for free?

I will be the happiest person if that comes true.

If we managed to get £12m for Downing, Ian Ayre or whoever would negotiate that deal should get a Knighthood!

RedSG

First of all after asking my mother she reckons I heard first when I was born and second of all a big fat NO to that Downing talk ;)

Every time I hear/see 'remember where you heard it first' or words to that effect, I stop reading/listening!

Keith

I honestly dont see this happening. Downing will be given another season in my opinion. Be lucky to get 12m for the player at this stage.

Heard it in a pub first. Where'd you hear it first?

A combined fee of 28m for Carroll and Downing would be nice ey?

I would personally drive Downing anywhere he needed to go.

If Downing does leave, which I really hope he does, Martin O'Neill is a huge fan and one of the few people stupid enough to pay that kind of money for him..

Listen dont jump on the band wagon and slate my info. Bunch of Trolls. I stated that Downing has been offerd and those clubs maybe more are intrested. I never said a concrete bid had been made. So maybe available for negotiation. I heard that LFC want 12m for him end of and to the person who said " when i read remember where you heard it 1st i stop reading. well done you even made it as far as makinga comment

Stuart downing is at the moment a liverpool player, maybe if you all put in as much effort to support the lad as you do in slating him and others ie; spearing,henderson,carroll ect it may have settled the lads and gave them more confidence a lot sooner! stop ya whinging and start ya singing! rant over
gaz the red

If Downing put as much effort into playing as I do supporting him maybe we wouldn't be talking about him being sold.

If we can sell Downing for 10-12m then we should do so...and afterwards send Roy a thank you note for including him in his euros squad and increasing his value because after watching him last season, I wouldn't think any team would offer even 5m for Downing

Brilliant last comment, could not agree more - the lad isn't a tryer, he is a luxury player he almost never offers the sparkle that other luxury players do. The sooner he goes the better - more quality out there with better characters and more desire, Downing rests on hislaurels and never seems to bust a gut, not a player I would want in my team. As a previous poster said the worst signing of Dalglishs reign by far.

Cut & paste from BBC Sport - Thursday's Gossip Column

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll wants his future resolved in the next week. The England international, 23, has been linked with Newcastle, Fulham and Aston Villa.

Full story: Daily Mirror

The Anfield club have been told they must pay £10m if they want to sign Fulham striker Clint Dempsey.

Full story: Daily Star

Arsenal and Liverpool are both monitoring Barcelona forward Ibrahim Afellay after the Dutchman, 26, was told he would only have a peripheral role under new manager Tito Vilanova.

Full story: talkSPORT

Liverpool's players are expected to win the ball back within seven seconds of losing possession and are given thorough details of the passing options they must offer every team-mate, wherever they are on the pitch, under new manager Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool's players are expected to win the ball back within seven seconds of losing possession and are given thorough details of the passing options they must offer every team-mate, wherever they are on the pitch, under new manager Brendan Rodgers, er... so where does Carragher fit in again ?

That must make training ferocious,if both sides have to win it back within seven seconds, all the players must be dead on their feet by the end of training

Think I may just have seen Joe Allen chowing down on a Boots 500 calories or less meal deal outside the Cavern Club. So not only is it nailed on, he obviously looks after himself, although not sure I approve with eating a lunch so early in the day!
It may of course not have been him, but a spikey haired youth, in which case sorry for you reading this and carry on about your day!

More transfer gold-dust like this to come soon!

Philthy {Ed029's Note - That is incredibly early to be eating lunch. It is lucky that he didn't go to a well known fast food chain with golden arches as he would not have been able to order a lunch meal at that hour!}

He's a premiership footballer. He needs calories to give him energy. He won't get from a lettuce leaf wrapped up in some low calorie bread...

What he doesn't need is the added salt and sugar that are found in these low calorie meals...

I think he needs to speak to a dietician ;-)

You can get anything to eat at any time you want in liverpool

A spikey haired youth in liverpool? this is a first

You are forgetting about the time difference from Wales, it would have been lunch time there, so he is clearly still on Welsh time

Liverpool's official website is down....could this mean anything?!?!

Sabian378 {Ed029's Note - Thanks, there were a few posts on this. It seems to be working fine for me now and unless Sterling's Keepie uppie video is huge I am guessing it was just a minor glitch.}

Could this mean anything?!?!...............yep, probably means there was an IT problem.

You dont honestly think they would take the whole website down to prepare for a new signing??

Tickets on sale to members this morning so possibly due to that?

Enrique was wearing the number 37 training shirt, I thought that was Skrtel's?

Apparently he picked it up by mistake or something. It should not be taken as a sign that Skrtel is leaving.

Hi Ed's as i'm sure you get told all the time, you all do a brilliant job on this site! seeing as rodgers will almost certainly deply a 4-3-3, this means we will rely heavily on the two wingers going forward. In rodgers first choice eleven i don't see any of our current players playing the wings effectively aside from maybe suarez or bellamy. Which wide players do you think rodgers will attempt to bring in? Cheers South Aussie Red {Ed002's Note - There is interest in Dempsey who can play wide on the left, Downing is in place, Sterling is coming on. Perhaps after the Olympics you will see interest in one of the Team GB squad.}

Ed, you're not pointing to potential interest in Sinclair by any chance are you?

Amz {Ed002's Note - I am. I would not be at all surprised to see Liverpool interest in Scott Sinclair.}

Ed002, 'may see interest in one of the Team GB squad' I am guessing you are referring to Scott Sinclair? Big Mike {Ed002's Note - I am - we will see.}

How about sturridge, can play as a striker or RF and Borini can play on the wing?

With a fluid system like this any one of a number of players could pop up in a widw position.

Is this site getting less traffic / posts or are most posts not being displayed or updated frequently.

I used to be able to check this site every hour and there would be something new to read, however this summer it seems to have less posts and not updated as regularly.

Not a negative as I fully enjoy the site (even the 12 year old dreamers make me smile) just an observation.

Bill Johnson {Ed002's Note - The site is updated constantly - just that none of the posts sensibly relate to transfers and just end up in banter.}

Completely agree, people like myself with genuine info are being forced into 'banter' because ed002 doesn't like my nickname... It's a real shame, this site used to be so much better!

SOUR FISH
YNWA {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with your nick name. Your posts started three weeks back and include such crass things as a combined bid for players from two different clubs (Krasic and Kjaer) and your "Speo" story. Don't bother sending any more posts in if you are so unhappy with the site which was so much better in the old days - or certainly until three weeks ago when you first arrived.}

It's better than having regurgitated rumours or unrealistic rumours posted constantly. I think most people who visit this site and support Liverpool know who a few of the targets are now, and the club is working to do the deals for them. Dempsey, Allen seem likely, I would like to know who else after that but there working on those deals to be completed 1st.

Top job Eds, keep the rumours page for just that. It's hard enough to stay up to date with everything, without having to search through the nonsense and negativity. {Ed002's Note - No need to search through nonsense anymore, Sour Fish has been boned and gutted.

We will be heading back to even the banter page being a fun place to visit and simply deleting all abuse aimed at the Editors and other posters, all the repeat stuff and as much of the dross as we can.}

"We will be heading back to even the banter page being a fun place to visit and simply deleting all abuse aimed at the Editors and other posters, all the repeat stuff and as much of the dross as we can."

Perfect.

Thanks Eds! Keep up the good work.

Completely agree with Ed, I'm on this site throughout the day to see the latest news being quashed or backed up but the only frustrating bit is going through loads of posts that are clearly utter cack, the Ed's do an amazing editorial job on this site, no other site comes close to this, especially with Macca involved as well, great job lads keep the faith! YNWA

Shouldn't this guy's original query have eneded up in banter? I find that the lines between banter and rumors is very blurry.

Every hour bit much how many new developments can there be every 60 minutes he must like reading the crap i check it good bit meself bu not every hour

19 Jul 2012 05:14:51
What is the latest on Juan Manuel Vargas. He would be an awesome edition and fit Rodgers style. Better then signing the likes of Dempsey or shall we say Paul Konchesky {Ed029's Note - We have looked at him on numerous occasions but I don't believe any bid has been made. I think we are concentrating on other targets at the moment but there is still a chance that a bid could be made later in the window as he would certainly add some squad depth down the left}

Does anyone know what is happening with Marco Bueno? I can't see it happening now but just interested..

There were reports not so long back that man united were trying to beat us to him

I tink we've already signed him but we had to wait till he's 18 b4 joinin us

He has been 18 for 4 months now... So if he already signed, he must be on the squad
Danieldenmark

I think he turned 18 on 31st march but have heard of no news relating to a move but there were reports of us signing a pre contract.

19 Jul 2012 02:23:09
Do you see us putting in a bid for Affelay? If the price is as low as stated in the media surely it would be worth a go? Good young player who would relish some first team action and fit comfortably into the 4-3-3 system which Brendan Rodgers clearly likes to play.
atsRED {Ed002's Note - There has to be a chance that a bid will be made. Italy looks like one option available to him if he is sold and there may be interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle. A move to Lille has been rejected.}

Young? I dont rate a 26year old as young in terms of football, thats peak age (26-29) When body fitness is still at top combined with experience. But he looks young tough. I think Afellay is decent but nothing special and he got a bad injury record. Would be a risk to take him.
