Bayern want 48 Million Euros for Renato Sanches? Surely he's worth a thought with Keita hanging in the balance.

Believable18 Unbelievable55

19 Jul 2017 20:32:16
Hasn't he gone on loan?

Agree8 Disagree4

19 Jul 2017 20:40:03
Can't settle in Germany, too much of a risk surely?

Agree9 Disagree5

19 Jul 2017 20:42:12
I mentioned this some weeks ago. For me he still has time on his side to fulfill his undoubtedly immense potential. He moved to early I feel in his career. Or what about Leon Goretzka? Both would fit in to Klopp's style of play. Would free up funds for others also. Such as Gabriel Barbosa from Inter. Unquestionable talent just a matter of fulfilling it. Which would then leave the problematical area of CB.

Agree3 Disagree6

19 Jul 2017 21:07:16
Surely signing Sanchez and Barbosa would be a massive risk? both been failures in their first seasons in a top league.
They do both have time and obvious talent but it's too big of a risk for me.

Agree12 Disagree4

19 Jul 2017 21:07:50
Why the obsession with signing a midfielder? Ok, Keita is obviously rated but if out of range then why scroll down through all the rest to find someone who may not even be an upgrade on what there is?

Agree14 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 21:13:47
The move to Bayern was too early imo, especially with the midfielders they had in the side already. To go thru such a high in his career of playing unreal stuff in the Euro's and getting that big money move to then not getting game time would have completely dented his confidence. Young guy aswell let's not forget. His potential like LFC.77 said is unquestionable.

Agree6 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 21:28:09
I don't think we need to buy just any midfield who is available, we have plenty of midfielders already. I think Klopp really wants Keita now because he thinks he is such a good player and who knows who else might be interested in him next summer. Just buying whoever is available is how we ended up with the likes of Balotelli.

Agree33 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 21:25:16
The lad has been trouble at Bayern. Expected a starting berth, wasn't prepared to work for it, didn't learn the language and has partied hard. The boy is the new Anderson.

Agree9 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 22:24:57
Must be hard for a young Portuguese speaking lad moving to Germany. Probably expected that he would take a while to adapt. I think the important thing is how hard he works in training. Reckon he is worth a shout to be honest.

Agree5 Disagree4

20 Jul 2017 01:41:57
Grujic looked promising again today. You would fear for him if Keita is signed though.

Hendo-Can-Coutinho-Grujic-Wijnaldum-Lallana. We've Six excellent midfielders for 3 positions already plus Milner and Ejaria if required.

Cant get my head round Keita really

Maybe Phils said he's off next year and Keita is coming in early as his replacement.

Agree13 Disagree4

20 Jul 2017 05:18:22
Renato Sanches is a big risk for a player who has under performed, not settled and could easily have the same problems in the UK.

Agree with Xabi though the amount of midfielders we already have is quite high, it seems strange that another midfielder has been made the priority. The only way it makes sense is if a couple are already earmarked to be leaving.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 05:23:17
And Woodburn, xabi14. he's looked great playing deeper!

Agree6 Disagree3

20 Jul 2017 06:42:44
Hendo or Can at base of midfield, Gini or Grujic (or Can/ Hendo) as box to box midfielders and Coutinho or Llalana as attacking mids. can understand if Keita is as good as everyone says why we go for him as you don't pass up top top players, but if he isn't then why go for someone else? We ideally need a FB and CB backup but aside from those two positions I think the squad is in pretty good shape and we don't need anyone that won't immediately improve the first team.

Agree4 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 09:09:20
Haven't we just signed someone who failed at a club when young and then excelled later on.

He was tremendous for Portugal at the euros.

Agree3 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 09:13:12
Hansens scar hit the nail on the head.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 09:20:29
Grujic is an attacking midfielder who should replace Lallana by next year! Keita is a CM. People are just throwing names. You can't compare two different players.

Agree4 Disagree7

20 Jul 2017 09:47:47
Coutinho didn't pull up any trees at Inter did he? Now look at him.

Agree6 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 11:10:13
I don't see grujic replacing lallana next year. Lallana was one of best players in the league last season. For the first few months, perhaps the best player. Looking forward to seeing more of grujic but don't see him as a replacement for lallana in the near future.

Agree1 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 11:26:50
I don't think Can will stay around. I think if Juve come in for him he will go.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 11:56:05
you are wrong Joes. The guy can play every aspects of our midfield.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 12:06:33
I fear you are right red fred. And with Lucas gone our once packed midfield options is starting to look rather threadbare. If we miss out on kieta who could still force a move then we still need to pick someone up to replace lucas and perhaps can. I don't think we have seen the best of can yet. He is still a youngster, he really could become one of best cms in world. We should fight to keep him.

Agree1 Disagree3

20 Jul 2017 12:10:13
Whilst we have 6 midfielders competing for 3 positions, can we really say that those 6 will compete with each other theme course of the season? Coutinho, Hendo, lallana and Gini you would expect are well experienced enough, physically and mentally capable to stay the course. Can maybe too as he enters into his mid-20s. But grujic is a Massive question mark and is more likely imo to be at risk of fading as the season progresses. There was a good reason the eds were saying he needed more nurturing away from the prem, and a lot of is to mentally prepare for these rigours of a full PL season. He should be a bit-part player contributing in cups and cameos off the bench. Unless injuries or the birth of a start. He is not part of the core rotation. Woodburn is the same.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 12:41:27
Two things.
1. Bayern tried to sell him earlier and had a asking price of €34 mio back in May and lowered it to €28mio.
2. Bayern made clear that Sanches will stay at the club (Hoehness said that about 2-3 weeks ago)

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 12:54:41
Will say that I'm impressed with Grujic's aggression. He's got a nasty streak to go with his skill.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 13:11:14
Coutinho was always professional and tried his best. It was just that they didn't fancy him at Inter. Renato Sanches just hasn't tried and thinks he's made it, the two situations are not compareable.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 13:29:56
He's like the midfield Balotelli. No thanks.

Agree3 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 13:40:39
It lucas gone we need someone who can do a similar job. Or a least has a defensive side. Finding players really capable of competing with our lot is going to cost. Some one mentioned kieta is a replacement for coutinio who might fancy a move next near. I hope that's not true but seems feasible. Both in the same side is scary and I don't think Phil does wanna go. Not all players are the same. Cout's kids are scourers remember. I can see him spending his whole career with us.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 13:37:06
Grujic is an attacking midfielder and is far far away from playing deeper. So the idea of him partnering Hendo is out of the paper! He is like a Barkley or Sigurdson who could be very handy in the final third!
There is only player he displaces and that it Lallana! Lallana is not getting any younger!

Agree0 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 16:52:11
Grujic is nowhere near ready to replace Lallana.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 17:18:10
Can will leave, therefore we require more midfielders.

Stewart and Lucas leaving back this up.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2017 18:10:12
If any of the EDDS r around,
I know patience is a virtue, but somewhere along the line we need to say enough is enough if the KEITA deal is not happening, so EDDS I'd be interested to know if we've shown any interest in JEAN MICHAEL SERI of NICE, an absolute clone of KEIITA, pacy scores, puts his foot in, tremendous passing range, and we'd probably get him for a decent price, we could do worse than him, any views EDDS.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, he is of no interest to Liverpool although four sides are all trying to buy the player - Lucien Favre says he is not for sale.}

20 Jul 2017 19:58:23
I just hope Grujic gets some games this season and won't become another waste of money who will sell on as never got a chance?

For me though, even if he doesn't like a more defensive role, he would be a great stopper mid park. i see him as a central player who plays similar to viera (though not that good yet)

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 13:23:35
Hi Ed 002, Looks like Keita deal is dead end as of now. I am regular and have watched more than once but could not find anything on We looking at midfielder. So any idea who we might be after as Keita alternative?

Believable0 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - If they want someone else it would need to be someone new as the others the club showed an interest in are no longer available.}

19 Jul 2017 17:28:55
Klopp burning his candle in both ends here. Risky bussines when thinking of the season ahead. don't get me wrong, Salah, Solanke and Robertson, good bit of transfers, but I'll be dissapointed if that's "all" we get, considered what was in store.

Agree9 Disagree6

19 Jul 2017 17:40:39
Just leave it now. Move onto next season. Blew this window.

All eggs in two baskets and they've floated down the river.

Would like an update from macca to just confirm it's all off, but this is oh to similar to zielinski and kovacic situations. No news, getting told things but nothing online except negativity.

To me keita done. The owner has said he's finishing his contract. Deal is finished and I'm trying to get over it currently haha.

Good to luck to our current group this year and fingers crossed we have a great campaign.

Agree7 Disagree22

19 Jul 2017 18:01:56
Patience is a virtue old bean. The transfer window has been open what, three weeks? I'm not saying we will sign Keita/ VVD or whoever, but I would like to think we have targets we are working on. Assuming Robertson at LB is done, I'm pretty happy with what we've done so far. Who has done better business than us to date?

Agree16 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 18:03:41
Theres still 6 weeks left, we've hardly blew the transfer window. salah could be a gem, solanke could develop into the next harry kane and robertson im unsure about but i said that about mane n wijnaldum. plus neymar might be leaving and he keeps raving about playing with coutinho so obviously he's destined for liverpool.

Agree10 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 18:29:18
We're going to pay an astronomical fee for one player like Neymar. Yup, dream on.

Agree1 Disagree15

19 Jul 2017 18:52:28
As I thought we will end up with no one. Between tapping up players and identifying players we need a complete overhaul. From plan A to Plan C because we are careless.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 21:28:19
Guess the question is, do we want the best we can get or settle for second best? If we couldn't get our first choices this window, I'd rather we didn't just settle for second best, as based on previous form it would mean signing Ox and Gibson, who are nowhere near better than anyone already at the club and I'd rather we just let Grujic and Gomez have a go.

Agree4 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 00:16:59
Maybe we will go back to the ox?

Agree1 Disagree5

20 Jul 2017 10:55:27
I can see us signing Ox personally. Klopp clearly rates him, and with his pace and power he fits Klopps style, his ability will improve with Klopps coaching we've seen that in the past at LFC as well as Dortmund so I wouldn't be too fussed if we signed Ox could be a very good squad players to have.

Agree1 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 11:43:51
Seems to me that the player needs to put in a transfer request for anything to happen, maybe he is waiting til its confirmed whether we are in the CL proper, its hard to say

RB aren't budging from their stance that he isn't for sale and if Keita is as as keen to join Liverpool as we are led to believe then he has to make a statement of intent himself.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 11:45:03
@Motion Lotion to answer that ===> Everton and Manutd, sadly.

Heard Liverpool and Leeds have reached an agreement for Kent to go out on loan.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

19 Jul 2017 15:24:29
I thought Kent was more likely to Hull?

Or have Hull decided Ward is more important?

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 15:26:06
Unlikely, he just came on against Palace.

Agree2 Disagree3

19 Jul 2017 15:57:06
That doesn't make it unlikely Nick. He could join them on his return.

Agree6 Disagree2

20 Jul 2017 07:12:04

Robertson to have medical tomorrow. All the best young man. let's hope he proves all the nay sayers wrong.

Really happy about this signing, the kid is needed and I believe he will be a massive boost to the team.

Agree21 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 15:41:16
Makes me laugh all the negative players on here that don't want him but most of them were crying out for chillwrll last year who would of cost more money, had no or little prem experience and had never seen him play. I must be honest I'm not excited about the signing because of you want to challenge at the top you have to challenge for the top players and you haven't seen the likes of Man City/ Utd, Chelsea, arsenal of spurs interested. But I for one want to see the lad to well and hopefully he can knuckle down and prove some of his doubters wrong.

Agree12 Disagree6

19 Jul 2017 15:49:52
People not players.

Agree4 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 17:10:10
Pegleg, of the fee was £25m I reckon you would change your tune suddenly. No one else was interested in Salah, we paid massive sums for him.
Too many people look at the price and think it reflects the quality, it doesn't. Hyypia is proof.
Robertson is a young LB with Prem Experience and a full international. What he offers to our team is worth far more than £8m, I would say the value of having a proper LB outweighs the value of another forward player (Salah) but that's not how it works. You pay what you pay on a deal by deal basis. Ridiculous to state he isn't good enough for United, City, Tottenham. The fact that 3 of those don't need a LB doesn't seem to have into your realisation. I'm sure he was linked with United a season or two ago.
I think he will be a great signing, adding a lot of balance to our back line.

Agree17 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 17:40:48
Considering the deal for Stewart would be for around half the fee of Robertson, I think we're doing splendidly. 23 YO Scottish international with a left boot for circa 5-6 million.

Agree5 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 17:39:39
Absolutely.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 18:11:04
Would you buy Morata for £75m? Stones for £50m? Walker for £55m? Barkley for anything?

Yes those clubs have it dead right?! NOT.

Agree4 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 19:42:53
All I know is that I'll be that pretty much every full back in the premier league won't want to face Mane and Salah. Jeez is Salah rapid. I thought Mane was quick!

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 20:54:20
Anfieldandy I'm actually begging the signing I'm just stating that if you want to compete at the top you need to compete with the top and go for the likes of Mandy or if you want potential then tiernay. But he's an improvement on what we've got so I'll get behind him. My post was more to point out people aren't happy if he signs but the same people wanted chillwell who would of cost more and would've been more of a gamble.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 21:16:26

Where would he play mate?

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 13:27:28
Thanks Ed25. It doesn't seem like us to go for that sort of high profile player.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - you think...i would say keita and VVD would be classed as high profile mate..

19 Jul 2017 13:46:02
Yeah but look how we messed up the vvd deal.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 14:04:26
Naby: He would play as a CF but working more in the midfield.
He isn't one of the fastest players but also does a good job as a RW.

He could be the "20 goals a season" striker everybody wants but i don't think there is too much to it. Casual name dropping because we 1. haven't spent that much, 2. missed out on keita and have a lot of money to spend, 3. Müller "unhappy" at bayern because he didn't play that much last season and probally won't play that much the next because of James.

Agree1 Disagree6

19 Jul 2017 14:27:21
He scored 5 last season and was benched for a proper out and out striker at Bayern. He will add more confusion to the already False 9 we have atm. He is like Firmino and you don't need two Firmino in a team!

Agree7 Disagree2

19 Jul 2017 15:08:15
Also Bayern have brought in hamez Rodriguez so pushes him more out of favour.
Top level experience, maybe a similar case to Lucas but this time we may be the recipient of such experienced player.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 15:12:44
I don't know where the Muller thing came from and doubts if there is anything in it; But if its true then he will make a good addition, he is different to any of the players we have and we need someone like him, he stays in the box and a good header of the ball . leave the creativity to Firmino and Couts and Muller just taps them in.

Agree2 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 13:53:34
But there not happening ed.

Like at all. It's all bull. Rb ain't selling and where not going back on our embarrassing statement to saints.

Time we moved on I think.

Agree0 Disagree3

19 Jul 2017 17:35:05
Roy: there is actually a term now for how Muller plays or how he scores goals. It is called "Reingemüllert" which roughly translates to "Müllert in" and means somehow without knowing how you score a goal looking like you still don't know how you ended up as a pro player.

Müller is a Top lad on and of the pitch and will definitely boost our squad. Is it likely he will move? Id give it a solid 5% because you he is the most bavaria-like person there is and probally the last one left at Munich.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 22:34:19
first post for me. from Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada.

just curious why they are even considering muller? the team needs a true keeper, backs and midfield. not more attack! or am I completely wrong here?

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 09:25:29
According to several news outlest we have hada new 75 million euro bid rejected for Keita.
RB Leipzig owner Dietrich Mateschitz has apparently came out and said so and that no way they are selling Keita.
I believe this is the end of our pursuit (maybe Ed002 can confirm this? )
Sad if true. But we can't say the club didn't try it's best with regards to Keita. That's a lot of money for a club like ours. Of course this won't stop the incoming FSG, Klopp, Edwards, Moore what not abuse.
Hopefully we can move to our other targets.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if it will be the end or not. Leipzig has also informed his representatives of a couple of things that they need to take heed of.}

I thought you said the fee can be agreed, the main issue is just the structure of the payments.

Is that true mdh7? I reckon that is just a case of calling rbl's bluff if so. A lot at the top of rbl are probably already counting the 70 million euros. Let's see if they are going to sell. Ya know, some at rbl would be a little worried if we started turning toward other cms.

Ps, the rubbish people have been posting, claiming we will anounce signings tomorrow a week ago. Got zero time for these attention seeking freaks. I know this site is about rumours but don't just make up stuff. Wait til you really do know something. Not saying you are lying dude.

Hi ed is there any enquiry for kovacic of real madrid i read that he has a release clause of 21m, and looks a bargain. surely a better option than keita and that looks a non starter. Lfc mess things up. konoplyanka 2 years ago . vvd this year .

{Ed025's Note - from spurs maybe deano..

It's not LFC fault that rbl won't sell. Willing to spend 75 mil! Well over twice our record fee.
Really thought kieta would happen. Maybe next year.

19 Jul 2017 09:17:52
Second bid for Keita turned down ed? Very unlikely it will happen imo. Rbl have made it crystal clear.

Time to move on to other targets.

19 Jul 2017 09:46:31
clee red other targets like who.

Agree3 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 10:12:13
There's 6/ 7 players moving out and we've added 2/ 3

There must be some hope of getting our main targets over the line or are we waiting for them to put requests in and force the move

I haven't seem much else to suggest we have other targets but I trust JK.

Agree5 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 10:46:06
Anything over 70 million is too much. Time to move on from Keita if RBl refuse to budge and pursue VVD (if its possible) . Klopp should get at least one of his top 2 targets or the anti FSG crowd will have a field day and poor Mrs Henry will bombarded with abusive and filthy tweets on her social media page.

Agree6 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 10:48:09
IMO it's time to move on from this or else we will be left high and dry come the start of the season. Time for plan B unfortunately.

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 10:50:56
From the Owner of RB Leipzig Dietrich Mateschitz:

"We do not sell players who are still under contract just to make a lot of money".

"Recently we got a 75 million euro offer for Naby Keita. No way! He still has a contract and he will fulfil it".

Seems like a pretty concrete answer that its the final word, unless we throw £100 mil at them or something.

19 Jul 2017 11:00:07
Oh dear : ( Hopefully Klopp has a plan B?

19 Jul 2017 11:16:30
No one can doubt FSG this season. Jesus, I'd we sign vvd for 70 mil that will be twice our record signing, who we also bought this season. Money is not the issue. Once kieta is back at work he will be pressured to turn down liverpool move. They will be saying "you only have a year left before a buy out clause" (when he goes to bayern Munich) it's a shame, really looked like it was going to happen, he wanted it. I bet he's a nice guy, humble and easy going, laid back and young. They put on a bit of pressure (rbl coaching staff) and talk him into staying. Still a shred of hope if kieta's agent gets on the case and gets kieta to force a move with transfer request.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 11:24:12
If we put ourselves in their shoes we can't blame them. Like we wanna keep coutinio eh. I am dissapointed. More at the failure to get our target than missing out on the player. We will be fine without him. Matic obviously not as good as kieta but still a good solid signing, sounds positive too.

Ox missed out
VVD messed up
Kieta missed out
Lacazette missed out
Mendy " "
Sessegnon " "

I thought champions league was meant to change our status.
They will all wished they'd come when win the league and beat real madrid in the UCL final!

Hearing that Liverpool are preparing a third bid for keita of over 70mil, any news?

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 11:46:58
I love how we assume, cos we read it in the papers, that xxx player is a target, and then we list them as having been missed (as per superted above)!

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 11:53:42
It is not the case bar mendy and sessegnon on. It's is the parent club that are restricting the move not the players, I'm not sure Southampton or RBL give two hoots if we have CL or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 09:08:36
Liverpool have had a £66 mill bid rejected by RBL for Naby Keita.
Things are moving!

19 Jul 2017 09:55:52
Dont get it moving where they have rejected it.

Agree2 Disagree1

19 Jul 2017 10:33:38
I disagree, we are making bids so that shows intent. There is nothing wrong with offering lower than the price tag - it is financially astute. We would all be moaning if the club was in even more debt than it currently is and had a reputation for just paying any asking price.

Yes, maybe we have a reputation for low-balling but no-one else is going to look after our financial interests. If RBL had accepted the bid, we may have been wowed by how well we'd negotiated.

Maybe we are being squeezed and rightly so from RBL perspective, but we are equally right to try and get the best deal possible.

19 Jul 2017 08:51:36

Have RBL turned down our 2nd bid of £66 million?

Is it time to walk away?

Thanks.

Do you think Liverpool will walk away no ed025.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - im not sure farno, maybe a final take it or leave it bid to come as other targets will have to be sought mate..

19 Jul 2017 10:17:23
it could be declined for any number of reasons, it could just be about the payment plan as Ed2 alluded to a few days back they want most of it upfront if I remember right.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2017 11:31:46
Ed025 I honestly believe a bid in around £70m should really really tempt them.

{Ed025's Note - at this stage it will be either that or for naby to instigate it mate..
