Ed have Liverpool shown any interest in higuain I suppose wage would be an issue and probably wants champions league football
Do you think they will look at him as a replacement for Suarez if he goes

Thanks
{Ed001's Note - nope, he wants Champion League football if he goes.}

01 Jun 2012 23:26:42
Real Betis young midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo was being linked with a move to Swansea towards the end of the season, I've heard that lfc are interested in bringing him in now, 20 years old, plenty of pace but knows how to pick a pass. More than likely one for the future though.

Aren't United interested in him as well?

Firstly where as Suarez said he wants to leave. Secondly can anyone see Brendan splashing £20 - £30 million for Higuain (not a hope). Thirdly why would Munian come to Liverpool when he could more than likely play for the majority of teams that have qualified for the champions league and finally why would we take Essien he is finished.

So what are you saying mate.MATTYLFC {Ed016's Note - I think Luis is on his way out}

A realist...finally. Totally agree {Ed016's Note -I think names like Higuain and Munian are very much going to want Champs league}

What he's saying is if Suarez goes the best we could probably get is de Jong or if we're lucky soldado. That's if he goes and I don't think he will, not in this summe transfer window
Agree about essien, quality player made frank lampard look better than he is but he's knackered now

Why all the talk of Luis leaving? That would be crazy.

Luis Suarez has already rubbished talk of Barcelona and R.Madrid. I don't think Liverpool have a chance of Higuain at the moment but I think there are strikers available to get us back into the top 5 at least next year! Muniain has been at Bilbao a while now and I am sure as most footballers would realise, he realises that Liverpool are still one of the biggest names in football! If Inter Milan came in for Muniain do you think he would say no just because they're aren't in the champions league? Muppet!

No but the one calling the original poster a muppet if you actually did your research you would know muniain has stated he doesnt wish to leave atletic bilbao and only if one of the big two in spain come calling and a fee is agreed would he go, he rubbished rumours of coming to england when the mancs were meant to be interested, just like llorente does every summer, the bilbao players tend not to leave bilbao, ofc hes been at bilbao a while too he came through their youth system yano with him being from bilbao and all that, hes been there since about the age of 6, why post utter nonsense? suarez hasnt rubbished anything but also hasnt said the opposite, he doesnt need to until a formal bid is made, the closest its even come to that is the juventus guy caceres saying hes spoken to his best mates suarez n cavani and they both are interested in coming here but its all down to the people up top

Ins

Gilfi sigurdson- 7m
adam Johnson- 12m
mohamad diame- free
Jackson martinez- 5m
nick Powell- 6m
Diego Godin- 8m

38m

outs

Martin skertel- 12m
jay spearing- 2m
maxi-1m
aquilani- 6m
dirk kuyt

Nick Powell has gone to the mancs {Ed001's Note - no he hasn't, he has gone nowhere, yet.}

Liverpool should offer a good £10 million to Crewe Alex for Nick Powell and Max Clayton also to sweeten the deal, we should give Crewe the option of taking all three (Nick Powell, Max Clayton and the recently acquired Dan Smith) back on loan for the next Season in a new division.

I think it would be a very good piece og business and i'm sure Liverpool F.C could take the gamble and end up with some real talent.

Comolli's dried up ink well

How the hell are we going to get 6 million for Aquilani? No one wants to pay for him.

Diego Godin for 8 million? Diame, for any price?! And who in their right mind would pay 2 million for Jay Spearing!

Skyrtel £12m???? haha.........

The more I think about it and read about the player, the more I would prefer Sigurdsson to Gaston Ramierz.

As we all know Sigurdsson has already adapted to the EPL and scores goals not only with left and right feet but also a header and free kicks. He is what Hendo should have been and is only 1 year older than him (22yrs).

If he was english Sigurdsson would be worth £20m. The fact that he is Icelandic and from a second rate German club means his percieved value is only £7m.

The guy represents real value in my eyes and the fact he wants to play for Rodgers adds to the reasons why I think we should buy him. He could share the attacking midfield role with Gerrard.

What do you think?

I do not think he will be better than Gaston Ramirez although you never know because Gylfi looks a great talent, but i do think you are right in that the asking price would be something like what your saying.

I would take both of them happily YNWA

Give hendo a break u person he is a young lad who has move d to a new city and been played out of position.He has just been called into the Englnd squad after what has been percieved as a poor season.
He is young talanted and one for the future both for us and England.With another season and hopefully idots like you not giving him a hard time he will become the player we hope he can be.I bet 3 yers ago u were booing Lucas

Lurgan Red

Yeah That's because English players aren't worth there value. it's reality

Sigurdssen is the type of player who would sign for Swansea, wait till you see who Brendan will get for LFC, Michu is one he is looking at.

I agree Sigurdsson is a good player, but why not sign both him and Ramirez after all, we do have to replace Kuyt/Maxi on the wings if they leave and we do lack quality out wide! I don't know whether we could get him for 7 million, I think that was part of the loan deal, but even at say 10 million, he is a steal!

Lurgan Red, chill out I said he was what Hendo was supposed to be, and still can become, but the fact is we need midfield players that can regularly score goals right now i.e. from the start of next season.

01 Jun 2012 22:01:38
With Suarez likely to leave, higuiain is first choice replacement. Muniain to be bought anyway along, also essien is a possible target

Where is there any concrete evidence that suarez will leave its all speculation he himself has said he wants to stay if rodgers wants him in the squad that's great, enough - stuff the sponsors we will always attract sponsorship money and it will be someone else in a couple of years time. anyway we need to stop picking at the scab and let it heal this constant regurgitating the same old doubts is becoming boring now lets see where we are at the start of the season, onwards and upwards chaps its a brand new beginning, i'm excited.

01 Jun 2012 21:51:42
Mirror seems to report Diame will join on 1st July eds, is there any truth? {Ed022's Note - Not yet mate, but a possibility. Not sure why July 1st though... just a made up date, as Diame can sign for an English club today onwards.}

I thought it was that he could agree terms and sign now, but couldn't actually move clubs until the 1st as his contract ends then?

Not 100% sure on how accurate that is though.

Thats right he can only leave when his contract expires which is the 1st of july... I play alot of football manager {Ed002's Note - Contracts expire on June 30. Given that the season has been over for a month by then many clubs release players from the remaining month or so - as Chelsea did with Drogba, Liverpool with Aurelio.}

01 Jun 2012 21:43:17
{Ed022's note - brand new player profile on Crewe Alexandra's Nick Powell, linked with pretty much every English club in recent times. www.player-profiles.co.uk - thanks all.}

01 Jun 2012 21:37:33
seems to be a lot of talk about giovanni dos santos, but i cant see where he would fit into the team, and what about Ben arfa he would fit straight into our team and im not quite sure on the ruling but because they are effectively in 6th do they play europa? what do you reckon Ed?? {Ed005's Note - Wouldn't like Dos Santos myself. A player who had potential but failed to live up to it.}

"A player who had potential but failed to live up to it."

A Moneyball player?

Had potential? He is 23, and has played great football for his country. He has bags of talent but not a great attitude or understanding with Redknapp. Wasted, but talented
{Ed016's Note - Still think he isn't the best option.}

Ben arfa was the same as dos santos, got into trouble etc but he has got the talent still, i don't think there is a question about that.

01 Jun 2012 21:35:19
Rodgers to sign aidy marriappa after working previously with him at watford after hornets turn down a deal from reading

01 Jun 2012 21:22:06
I hope that markel susaeta is someone that Rodgers considers pickin up this summer. A pacy winger with a good touch and he is always lookin for the assist. I also don't think he would cost an arm and a leg. What do you think about him eds and everyone? Would like other opinions. YNWA {Ed005's Note - I like him but haven't seen him very much, only three of four games.}

And also plays in a similar way at Bilbao as he would with Rodgers!

Nearly sure Guilemme Balague(spelling) said at the cup final last week he was going nowhere this season

01 Jun 2012 21:10:24
hey eds do u think we could revive our interest in honda...i personally think that he is better than kagawa...but last season he did have injury problems, great work btw {Ed005's Note - We had a chance of Honda but decided not to go for him for whatever reason. Who knows, but I can't see him coming here.}

01 Jun 2012 21:05:04
hi eds with rogers supposedly not being a fan of carroll do you think there could be a serious chance of him leaving? i really hope not as i think he could be a huge hit next season {Ed022's Note - I don't know yet.}

01 Jun 2012 21:02:40
heard from somewhere that there is interest in gerogino wijnaldum?
no idea who he is but apparently he is going to be the next best thing.
Aggerdo {Ed022's Note - No interest from Liverpool.}

Do you know much about him

I presume from fifa or football manager

He was linked with lfc around 2008 when he was at the world cup with Holland, rafa had him looked at but got a negative report so nah don't think so.

01 Jun 2012 20:21:50
How much would Giovani Dos Santos cost? I belive the kid has got huge potential and technicaly is brilliant, he never got a chance to shine in Barcelona and Tottenham. {Ed022's Note - Not very much mate. Under £10 million.}

Does Brendan know Santos from Chelsea youth team or have I got my wires crossed!

YNWA jns

Never got a chance cos he's crap, I currently live in Ipswich and when he went there on loan a few years ago and me and a few mates went a good number of games and he was a joke, hope to god these aren't the type of players were looking at, god help us.

No your thinking of franco di santo

Ah that's right cheers.

YNWA jns

01 Jun 2012 20:17:42
Gylfi will be following Brendan Rodgers to Anfield

100% Coming from a good source

Somebody obviously doesn't watch the news! 100% Rubbish

Why not? he hasn't completed his transfer to swansea yet, so we are able to buy him

Yeah why not unless brendan has a gentle mans agreement with swansea chairman.

Yeah and he tweeted cant wait for next year with the swans, you ask me and most other football fans, liverpool dont have a swan on there badge

01 Jun 2012 20:14:59
Eds, I was under the impression that Liverpool would be going straight into the group stage of the Europa League, with Chelsea winning the CL, SSN say we start in the 3rd round, could you please clarify? {Ed022's Note - Yes, with Tottenham finishing 4th, they basically took our position in the Europa League and pushed us back.}

Well they didn't push us back they just took Chelsea's place. We stayed where we were

Well edoo2 said that we would be taking Chelsea's place so which is it? {Ed016's Note - August 2nd start}

Play youngsters in this good experience for them and get out as soon as possible thursday sunday football is going to leave us drooping too many valuable points instead of the post costing us it will be this time consuming injury causing competition goodluck brendan.

We are Liverpool. We exist to win trophys. End of

01 Jun 2012 20:05:37
eds any idea who rodgers was intrested in at swansea? {Ed022's Note - Giovanni Dos Santos.}

Do you think he will go for him? {Ed022's Note - You can't rule it out I suppose.}

He wanted sterling as well so expect him in first team next season

I hope we go for him
he is better than downing and if i am right an improvement is an improvement, he would cost under £10m and is ONLY 23 years old and a full Mexico international

And if we were to get Herrera and Bueno then he would also be beneficial to their development.

Agreed! dos santos is an exciting player, would love to see him at anfield!

01 Jun 2012 20:05:36
Diame on a free transfer, signing 1st July

Keita is a free transfer a possibility with Rodgers admiration to tiki taka football.

01 Jun 2012 19:57:32
Just spotted on Sky Sports News that Saloman Kalou has been released by Chelski..... any chance of Liverpool makin him an offer? He can add quality

WireRed {Ed022's Note - No, he looks set to join Schalke.}

He is rubbish!

Kali can not add any quality! Overrated, that's why he's released by Chelsea. Who are u , his agent?

Hope not he is lazy and totally useless

I never fail to be surprised by the absolute stupidity I sometimes read. Maybe we should split this website into two. One for those with a brain and the other one for the idiots that simply don't have a clue

Please no! Any credibility BR has will immediately by lost. Is there a barber shop in Liverpool that can come up with such an intimidating hair cut as a spider?

01 Jun 2012 19:32:23
Do you reckon there's any chance of Giovani Dos Santos joining Liverpool eds? {Ed022's Note - He is a possibility I suppose, but I still doubt it.}

Hope not

Dos santos is garbage I wouldn't go to the end of the street to watch him!

He is a lot better than Adam, Maxi, Downing and Henderson. He has pace, vision, passing and skill, but appears lax and disjointed from mental aspects of the game. Rodgers was looking at him...have faith

01 Jun 2012 19:26:53
Ed, do you know if we are building a new stadium? Or redevelopment? There's plenty of rumours about both mate.

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed022's Note - I think we are leaning towards building a new one at this moment in time.}

Liverpool will redevelop anfield and this will be announced in next few weeks

Sorry but we are actually going to redevelope anfield,add another tier which will include new corporate boxes.we will be buying quite a few houses and giving the owners an extra 10% and paying moving costs.the council will be placing compulsary purchase orders on the stubburn home owners.ian are has already had a residents meeting plus we are to build a hotel and redevelope the area.
lfc4me

Not what I heard. Apparently JH is leaning toward building a new stadium just outside off the docks, near where the old British floating weather map is. It will be the worlds first floting stadium supposedly. Seems odd but that's what I am hearing and my sources are more that solid believe me

Anfield is being redeveloped.The builders have already been contracted, which is my source. LeighT

01 Jun 2012 18:47:26
any chance on Pappss Cisse?
just think abouth it... He'd fit in BR's type of playing really well {Ed022's Note - No.}

No chance we've got Andy Carroll

What a stupid question....

Alan Pardew would sell for nothing less than 50 million!

01 Jun 2012 18:38:16
Eds do you think or have you hurd if we will go and try to sign Gilfi Sigurdsson? . Please answer this for me. Thanks. {Ed022's Note - It is possible that we could launch a late bid for him, but I am not sure yet.}

Just think for 1 minute, were would he fit in...............

auntie annie....

Brendan Rodgers isn't allowed to buy any Swansea players

Well he could buy gilfi because hes not a swansea player yet but i dont think liverpool's targets should be the same as swansea's we are a bigger club and although gilfi is a good player we could attract better players and will depend on liverpools budget for next season {Ed005's Note - Rubbish logic. GS is a good player and would be a bargain for under £7m at 22 yo. Very good piece of business from any club.}

01 Jun 2012 18:29:05
EDS...what about Neil Taylor.....are we looking at him for left back cover??.......

He can be the perfect ft.....he has the same built as Enrique...he is fast and can provide competition to him {Ed022's Note - Not that I know of.}

No swansea players

We should not forget about Jack Robinson, a player when I see him play for the reserves seems to definetely have something about him.

Good player, too good to be a second choice!

01 Jun 2012 18:23:43
Giovanni mark my words...

the mexican

I hope not

I Hope we get him so under rated. and its Giovani

He is worthless. You dont get bumped from barca or spurs for now reason. Hope we do not get him.

01 Jun 2012 18:19:26
Hi eds! What's the chances of Abel Hernandez coming this summer? He is young and talented and would work well with either Suarez or carrol. {Ed022's Note - Too early to tell at the moment.}

01 Jun 2012 17:56:25
i seen on sky sports that liverpool cant sign any swansea players for the next 12 months is that true {Ed022's Note - Yes.}

How true? is it just a gents agreement? {Ed022's Note - No, it is more than a Gentleman's agreement.}

It is true yes

Yes but I think the player we would be interested in is at present not a Swansea player. Stating the obvious!

But if a Swansea player puts in a transfer request it apparently changes things. If Liverpool are offering better wages for example surely if a player wants to leave it becomes restraint of trade if Swansea refuse him his wish. {Ed002's Note - I suspect that circumstances could arise where a player could force a move and Swansea would allow a move to Liverpool - but they could of course charge a much higher fee than they would for another club. It is unlikely and more controversy is probably not wanted by the club.}

01 Jun 2012 17:50:18
hi ed within the last week we have been linked with 4 mexican players

Fabien
Dos Santos
Bueno
herrera

any more news on these EDs ? {Ed022's Note - No more news yet.}

We have been linked with Herrera since Jan/Feb 2012 and Bueno summer 2011

If we sign any of them I'll be amazed!

01 Jun 2012 17:43:23
hi ed when do u expect lfc to start their business of new signings and which positions u expect will be priorities. thanx great site, {Ed022's Note - Left-Back, Striker, Right Wing and possibly Attacking Mid. Too early to say when the business will start.}

Knowing with Rodgers work ethic I would say tomorrow 9am, scratch that he's probably working now.

01 Jun 2012 17:40:03
hi edds
seeing as danny murphy has been released from fulham. is there a chance liverpool would go in for him. he be great for a squad player and for the man u games

also i think our first game of premiership season will be swansea. what do you think {Ed022's Note - Danny Murphy is still in talks with Fulham about a new contract.}

01 Jun 2012 17:25:48
Is there any Liverpool interest in Lucas Moura? {Ed022's Note - Nope. We did have interest but decided against him due to the ridiculous price he would cost.}

01 Jun 2012 16:18:14
Does swansea's deal with Rodgers include sigurdsson? {Ed022's Note - For the last time, NO! Sigurdsson is not a Swansea player.}

01 Jun 2012 16:17:37
Ed is their interest in charlie Adam and if so from where

Thanks {Ed022's Note - Villa I think are still interested, but we will not see him sold this summer, but probably next January.}

ED022 just out of curiosity why do think he wont be sold in the summer but next january just wondered what your reasoning was and can you give me the exact date would get fantastic odds for knowing that lol
riley {Ed022's Note - Haha no exact date from me mate. I just think that due to his injury etc, it limits interest in him from clubs etc, whereas next January that isn't an issue so can be offloaded easily.}

01 Jun 2012 16:43:10
We should sign Klasnic on a free. Great finisher and would make a brIlliant back up striker!

JP

I agree with that. He may want to play more but I think he'd be a solid striker off the bench.

Yeah lets get Heskey back as well while we're at it...

20 goals in 77 appearances for Bolton. Not good enough for Liverpool.

@ 3rd reply
I'm pretty sure a lot of those were of the bench around the 80th minute so not much time to score a goal. I think he is very underrated and we should go for him. Another free player we could go for is diame (cover for lucas)

@ 3rd reply

Not good enough for LFC? Maybe so BUT without champions league football, who are LFC attracting anyways? I believe he is a good decent back up. If he is interested in LFC, LFC should consider him. No transfer fee and his wages shouldnt be too bad as well.

SLURed

01 Jun 2012 16:31:28
Il put my neck out here' I feel with a bit of luck we will sign soldado after the euros'

Melbourne'

Soldado is not in the Spain squad so there should be no reason to wait until the Euros are over if we want him.

He isnt going to the Euros so why bother waiting??

Sisco

Why wait till after the Euros?
Soldado isn't in the Spain squad.
(Maby a reserv at home9

Soldado not in euros!

Soldado didnt make the spanish squad did he i think so we wouldnt have to wait till after the euro's to go after him

He's a good goal scorer but he doesn't really offer the team much else. I hope BR will want to sign wingers and creative midfielders over strikers.

^ comment above whats the point of having creative players if there noone to put it in the net its been proven this season we created alot but had no finisher

JJ

You better go to the doctor and get your neck put back in!

01 Jun 2012 15:05:24
Eds what do you think is the chance of getting Gylfi Sigurdsson? {Ed005's Note - If we go in for him I would say a good chance mate at under £7m, with quality and potential, at 22, and a great relationship with Rodgers I'd say we're in with a shot!}

He is in don't know the fee

But we spant money on hendo and have shelvey coming through the ranks. lucas and gerrard will still be starters next season so i don't think we need him.
derryred

Wasn't that fee agreed prior to the loan spell? Think I seen an ed say itd be nearer 14mil for anyone else. Can't see Brendan doin that to Swansea either comes across as a man of principle

The cherry picker

Exactly what Liverpool need..
quality player..

Stichi

Ed, if we do get him, could/would that mean the end of adam at lfc. Also, anything on Elm? {Ed022's Note - Well I think Spearing will be leaving this summer, so perhaps Adam will get until January at least. Liverpool have asked to keep updated with Elm.}

Would love us to sign GLYFI looks a great prospect possibke STEVEG replacment when he hangs up his boots would be a quality mid field 3 lucas in the hole with gerrard and gylfi in front that would be awesome

01 Jun 2012 15:03:17
Ed do Liverpool have an interest in ronaldinho now that he's free? {Ed005's Note - I'm sure his age added to his excessive wage demands would rule him out mate! If he was free 10 years ago I would have walked to Brazil and carried him to LFC myself lol.}

01 Jun 2012 16:04:13
Pepe Reina ¸@reina_official
i will be staying at liverpool for another year.

No idea if it's official but that should put it to bed... for now

RedSG

How can you say no idea if its official then follow it up with "that should put it to bed for now" clueless..

I don't think that is verified Reina is it?

Good, so we'll get vorm next year then

01 Jun 2012 15:36:45
With talk of needing a striker, are we not looking at Rossi, who was relegated with Villarreal last season? {Ed022's Note - He is out injured and may well retire.}

Ed, Rossi retire?!?!? I haven't heard anything about that he's only in his mi-20's! {Ed022's Note - He ruptured his cruciate for the 2nd time and players rarely come back from that.}

Is it really that serious an injury? He is only 25.

Poor guy

He was class too. Shame.

01 Jun 2012 15:26:49
Hi eds what's happening with Steve Clarke? Is he still at the club? {Ed022's Note - Still there at the moment.}

He was at Chelsea with Rodgers, was he not? I think he'll stay!

01 Jun 2012 15:20:34
So according to the Premier League's free agent list, Pavel Pogrebnyak has been released by Fulham? Any chance on him eds? {Ed001's Note - I doubt it.}

Wasnt he only on loan at fulham

Looks like he has been released

Why would you ask that ?

He would of returned to from his six month loan at Fulham.
Skurks

01 Jun 2012 15:19:05
ed is nick powell already destined for MU? or if we push for a bid we might have a chance?

also ed do u know if nick powel has any preferred destination?

thanks

Kaizer {Ed001's Note - there is no deal completed for Powell. His interest is playing first team football, I personally expect him to stay for one more year and make a decision on his future at the end of it. Though Crewe might make the decision for him, if they get an offer they can't afford to refuse.}

Hi Ed001 I posted on this yesterday but I think it got a bit jumbled up. I had a conversation with the ex-annnouncer at Crewe who still sees Dario Grady pretty regularly and he said although nothing signed yet he was expecting Nick Powell to sign for MUFC, but stay at Crewe for another year on loan. Hope not true as if he stays fit he will be a superb player.

We could buy him n loan him back right ed? in 1 more season he could double his price, hell even triple. let us know if anything happens to him okay? thanks.

Kaizer {Ed005's Note - Would be possible.}

01 Jun 2012 15:17:31
Macca, I would greatly appreciate it if you could shed any light on the possible location of Gylfi Sigurdsson next season. Do you know if the deal at Swansea is a done deal, or could he infact follow Rodgers to Liverpool? Also, do you have any idea as to whether Huw Jenkins is just comforting the Swansea fans by telling them that a deal is in place to stop Liverpool from signing any players from them for the first 12 months? Or, do you think this is another garbage talking chairman? Cheers for your much welcomed info over the last few weeks, keep it up!

Who will we take from swansea. sinclair ? not good enough. vorm ? unlikely he will want to play second fiddle to reina. dyer ? well in my view a good player but i don't see it as the fee will be big for what we're getting when we can get better players. sigurdsson or allen ? the first has just transfered there. both good players but why sign him when our midfield already has both henderson and shelvey ?
derryred

I take it you don't watch swans much , vorm is better than reina , who lets be honest had a poor season , joe Allen is a future star in the making , way way way better than hendo will ever be , and gilfy is also better than anything in that Liverpool midfield including gerrard on current form , this is from someone that watches them week in week out , Brendan Rodgers will be a breath of fresh air I kid you not , only thing is wether the big egos will do a avb on him

Sig ain't signed yet mate! Plus he is not a swansea player, his parent club hold his registration, do we would be able to sign him even if there was a deal in place not to sign dwansea players!

"and gilfy is also better than anything in that Liverpool midfield including gerrard on current form"

Clearly you don't watch Liverpool that often if you think that. Granted he's a good player but I'd take Lucas or Gerrard on his "current form" any day of the week. And what is Gerrard's "current form?" I was unaware Liverpool were still playing.

AMEN

Lol you are blind then forgot Lucus had a blinding season didn't he and gerrard done f all gylfi is better than them all , and for 6.8m 22 years old that's a third of what hendo cost and same age , get real mate Liverpool were shocking last Season ,little old swans out played u twice , I was at both games , brendon will be a great manager I kid you not , needs to get rid of a few first

Just read online that Diame (I think is his name) is for sure signing with us on July 1st. Have you heard anything about that deal being as good as done and if so is he a good player? I haven't really seen him play much. Thanks

Mike

He's a good player on a free...

Would provide better back up than Spearing etc...

KKM...

Well he played for Wigan and struggled to play every week, I think that answers your question about his ability.

I think Spearing is getting a lot of undeserved flak.

He was good for wigan, just i think he had some sort of heart problem. i wouldn't sign him as we need first team players and he will not be one as we have gerrard and lucas. he could also halt the development of hendo and shelvey.

Hearing that Steve Clarke is on his way. If he is I wish him luck wherever he ends up.
MonkeyThe Red YNWA

Would not surprise me.I don't see him and Brendan as a perfect fit.
CR

As first replier has sadi, i dont think he will suit rodgers. Plus, rodgers brought his own assistant manager hasn't he?

Steve Clarke and Brendan Rodgers are the perfect fit? They both seek to play offensive, build-from-the-back, technical football.

Swansea Place 12 Month Embargo on Liverpool Transfers
Posted on 01. Jun, 2012 by Liam Tomkins in News

Swansea City Chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed that he has an agreement with Liverpool FC which prevents the Reds signing any Swansea players under Brendan Rodgers in the next 12 months.

I wonder would that include Sigurdsson?

Rovers refused to confirm this earlier. If it was true is there any reason why he wouldn't just say so? Besides, I'm sure there must be some trade law or personal freedom act that would contradict it?
DHK

No, as hes not their player! They cant ban us from signing someone that they havent yet signed themselves! lol

When the money's on the table, all bets are off dude.
Anyway Rodgers knows why Swansea clicked, and if any, who are his old players to sign.
There is nothing to stop him to look at the players we have at the moment to play them a different way, and then spend any budget he has on really quality foreigners.

I back Rodgers (Buck Rodgers) all the way, he reminds me of a young Bill Shankly, where i hope unlike last season, the ball goes in the net instead of hitting the post, then we will be in the Champions League.

I feel so sorry for King Kenny, that we had so much bad luck in front of goal last season.

Today see's the start of a whole new way of Liverpool way of thinking, which may be a good thing as we need international global philosophical money thinking people to attract the revenue to stack a quality squad to compete for the Premiership crown.

I know this is not the Liverpool way to dictate and buy all the best players to be the best.
But since the only way to dethrone Liverpool's purist football methods is Man.U bank loans, Chelsea & Man. City's money buying the premiership, we now have to get real and catch up, but i guarantee you when we do, Liverpool could go on an amazing run.

Any first 11 we put out can beat anybody, but you need a squad of depth to win a league, so i feel this year will be at last a squad of depth.

7ft Mick in the Kop

Wigan chairman also claimed martinez has been offered the job. dont believe everything you read

Good don't want one player from Swansea.

I think the players we have will suit Brendans style well. They seemed a bit stifled by tactics a lot of times last season.

Joe Allen proper class midfielder prob going ta arsenal i heard

Joe Allen is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

I don't believe we need to spend huge amounts- sterling, suso, coady etc should make the step up with maybe a couple of additions so not to rush the young players. Arguably we need 2 wingers but as we have sterling there maybe no need to break the bank in that area. Same with a creative player- suso. We have lucas to come back, shelvy, henderson, carroll, enrique, suarez (although i think he is more likely to go- which I wouldn't mind) who are all young who will only improve. I think the only essential is a pacing striker with an eye for goal. I am not convinced by any striker we have been linked with. But thats just my opinion....

You clearly don't watch or understand football if you want Suarez to go. He is our best player by a mile and is probably our only world class signing since Torres.

I believe we have to spend huge amounts. Otherwise the situation is clear - 6th - 10th place once again (after Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Tott and Arse in the best way).

It's great to see that owners are trying to move at the right direction, but to pay 8mil pounds (if the rumours are right) for the Championship manager is... not the best step.

Our youngsters are worth nothing. They all are Spearing potential players. Even Sterling didn't show any good signs while having enough minutes for that in the last season.

Now imagine Liverpool without Suarez, and Gerrard (he will be gone after few years). Do you see any players that could change them without spending big?

I don't... {Ed005's Note - In all honesty I'm open to opinions but I think this is an absolutly awful post.}

As an ex professional with coaching badges I would like to think I know more than most. And I agree Suarez is a world class player but with his tarnished reputation all refereeing decisions will go against him. It shouldn't be that way, but i think thats the case. Furthermore he has damaged the clubs reputation and I don't believe he is overly committed to Liverpool and wouldn't be at all surprised if given the opportunity he would go. And finally with 35+mill you could do an awful lot. What I am saying is that I would like him to stay but it wouldn't be that bothered if he went.

Agree Suarez is an important part of our team...losing players of his calibre will only weaken our team...apart from that have to agree not too many players required apart from a winger, AM and some self belief in our current squad of players and youth.
StevieC

I'd have to agree with Ed005 here, the post above is ridiculous. I could spend time picking it apart, but what's the point when most level-headed fans will agree that this unnamed poster is, to be polite, a diddy.

Rugby Parker

Ed005, you completelly disagree? You relly see potential in Liverpool youth? Can they become world-beaters (as we are aiming to become world-beating club)?

Ed's what's your thoughts on Marvin Martin, he plays for Sochaux who got relegated, could be a double deal for with and Ryad Boudebouz? {Ed002's Note - Dortmund, Lille, Lorient and Anderlecht have enquired after Marvin Martin, but Valencia, Fenerbahce and Arsenal have been most serious in the pursuit of the Socheaux player. I suspect a move in the summer is very likely.}

01 Jun 2012 13:35:31
Eds I know its early days but do u think br will be given much money? have we any chance on sigurdsson? and any idea on transfer funds?

Cheers
Mr. Enthusiastic {Ed001's Note - I am sure he will be given the chance to shape the squad. I doubt he would want to move for any Swansea player or target out of respect.}

01 Jun 2012 13:32:39
Eds, do Liverpool have any interest in James Rodriguez from Porto?

Thanks

Kam {Ed001's Note - I have absolutely no idea sorry.}

Doubt it. Porto do like to sell their best players, but they'll want to keep him, with Hulk likely to leave. Even if he does go, he'll want a team like Madrid, Barca, Milan who can offer champions league football now.

He's going to atletico madrid. Done Deal Matt

Haven't Athletico Madrid just agreed to sign him i'm sure they have.
Skurks

Im 100% sure that Atletico have signed Christian Rodriguez (Uruguyan, 26). James Rogriguez is Columbian and around 18,19 yrs old. Both played for Porto this last season. Hope that clears up any confusion. Im sure the Eds will second this unless im also confused lol

Thanks

Kam

I'm confused now Kam lol

I have a question. If another team bids for a Swansea player and this is accepted by the club, surely Liverpool could equal that offer as the player would be going anyway?

And that would just be the type of practice that would label us as classless. There are plenty of good footballers who don't play for Swansea.

Canadian Fan

Who would you like to get from Swansea? Honest question, not a sarcastic remark.

That wouldn't particularly paint Liverpool in a very good light would it? Wouldn't demonstrate much honour on our part. Not really worth the hit our reputation would take for a Swansea player.

Vorm if reina went

Vorm really is not good enough. Seriously some people make me squirm.

Only Swansea player worth going for is Joe Allan

01 Jun 2012 12:41:34

ed is there a chance of Verratti who is great on footy manager {Ed002's Note - Marco Verratti will make the move from Pescara to Juventus this summer.}

Eds any chance of Solid Snake? He was great in Metal Gear Solid.

That is one of the major problems with forums. People get confused between Fanstasy and real life !

Thats random. I signed him for Juve on FM a couple of weeks ago.

Len

"....who is great on footy manager"

Please consider what you just typed there and save the eds, us and yourself time and bother by not typing such a question again.

Next time try: ed, is there a chance of (insert name here) signing, because he is great in REAL LIFE.

That is all.

Footie manager is getting better and better at picking up these little gems. Think it helps inflate prices too though.

I just won the prem and fa cup on footie manager so lets hope that happens to

'Who is great on football manager' ...Really? Did you really just say that?

Alan curbisley once said that every team uses football manager as it can be good for info on players dont knock its ability to judge a player

I remember hearing everton had a deal with sports interactive to use football manager as a type of scouting data base and actually had someone employed to play the game the guy is one lucky get but must be rubish at the game considering evertons team lol

Will people stop reading rubbish into things. He didn't mention Suarez! Neither did he mention Johnson, Agger, Skertl, Carroll or Downing!!
Good thing is that he speaks Spanish so Suarez will know what he's talking about. And, he's not stupid to let Suarez go, he will build and the good thing is that he won't pay silly money ...
Sigurdsson (spelling) coming for sure....

IranTam in London

Not so sure friend, apparently in Rodgers contract there is a clause that we can't but Swansea players for 12 months, but Im not sure

I wish more people like you would post. Complete common sense and logic. People need to clam down.

If Suarez goes I don't think it will be down to BR I think it will be a board desicion. The worry is, that if Suarez were to go, (which I don't think he will) the fans may put it down to BR. I personally am very excited about the appointment of BR and am looking forward to the return of glory days at Anfield (or a new stadium?).

Jack in the Box

Not sure about Sigurdsson, that will become apparent over the next few days I expect that the move to Swansea has broken down but I seriously doubt Rodgers would steal him, even if he would be a great player to have in the squad! I wish more people would post like you though, honestly some people read into the most stupid of things!

If we want a step forward - Adam, Downing, Spearing, Carrol, Johnson and Reina must be sold. For the empty spaces quality RW/LW, DM (backup), ST, RB and GK must be bought.

01 Jun 2012 12:39:36
to all eds

with the issue of the new stadium or staying at anfield in the papers today have the club made a decision yet
{Ed002's Note - I suspect a decision has been made but details are still being worked with Planning etc..}

Macca says we're moving so that's good enough for me until the club says anything on it. i hope we do build a new stadium because we would forfeit some thousand seats if we were going to referb Anfield and it makes fiscal sense.

I know for a fact that there's been surveyors in again at Anfield this week measuring up, and with the owners preference for modernising existing stadiums I reckon we'll stay.

01 Jun 2012 12:38:25
Rodgers didnt mention Agger Skrtel Lucas Johnson Henderson Carroll Enrique Sterling does that mean they are all leaving? No, so stop saying because he didnt mention suarez, that he's leaving.

Youthy.

Sell that andy carroll anyway he is a big bag of s**te, no more excuses for him, he's just a very poor player, kenny dalglish needs his head examined for shelling out 35m on him, in my opinion, it was a sackable offence alone. Good Luck Brendan Rodgers, we're all rooting for ya..YNWA

01 Jun 2012 12:37:18
Ronaldiniho on a free, at 32 surely has a few years left in him until the Suso's and you name come into maturity. he wouldn't be required to run everywhere as Rodgers uses zonal tactics in defense.

Giovani Dos Santos 23 (the guy played more for Barcelona in a single season than he did at tottenham in 5)

Walcott 23

Strootman 22

Luuk de Jong 21

= £44m

sell; cole, spearing, kuyt, maxi, downing, adam = £26m

net spent = £18m

Thank god they didnt give you the job!!

That is a crazy post, imagine teh wages Ronaldinho would request...no end product whilst Walcott would be way to expensive. De Jong would be only realistic signing from your list and I think he would be a good edition to the club.

Ronaldinho.......are u nuts? Unless we are employing him as a post-game party organiser for the hospitality side of things?! Walcott and Dos Santos.......just what we need, a player who is so lacking in technical ability it's unreal and a player who has done NOTHING since being at Spurs and only looked good at Barca due to the players around him! Give me strength

Have you seen Ronaldinho lately? Lost his spark, lazy and carrying about 20 extra lbs.

Dos Santos, not good enough.
Walcott, fast but no end product.

Strootman would be nice, though.

Ronaldinho was once a great player and still is. The problem is he likes to party to much and causes problems in the dressing room. Dont need any more problems.

The club that have Ronaldhino can't pay his wages cos sponsors have all backed out because all he does is go out drinking and is coasting through games. If he can't hack it in that league why would he add anything to our team. Be real, we may aswell try and talk Ian Rush out of retirement !

^ lol!

Playing to much FIFA u

I wouldn't touch dos Santosa with a barge pole! Redknapp once said "if he could pass a nightclub like he can pass a ball he'd be world class." Completely wrong attitude.

Surely you would rather see Suso develop into the first team now, through the occasional sub appearance, than see his chance halted for a few more years, by an ageing player who would not exactly do wonders for our wage bill! Dos Santos and Walcott are not the kind of wingers we need! Suarez will be on the left of the front 3, and a pacy right footed player, WHO CAN CROSS, on the right. Would love to see Strootman/De Jong though!

No to Ronaldinho and a massive No to Walcott. Ronaldinho wouldn't fit into a shirt these days and Walcott isn't what we need at LFC.

Gaz1975.

I feel cheated having to press the unbelievable button. there should be an unbelievably unbelievable button.

Giovani Dos Santos never played for Barcelone, that was his brother Jonathan, am I correct Eds?

Ben {Ed022's Note - I believe so.}

Giovani dos santos was at barcelona along with his brother and he did play a few games for them

Fool i saw dos santos score a free kick for Barcalona in 2007, he played 37 games scoring 4 goals and making 7 assists for them in one season and then Tottenham bought him.

01 Jun 2012 12:34:28
was there ant newss about the statuim in the press confrence to day eds ? {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

There was a story in the Guardian this morning saying that they intend to redevelop Anfield via the Main Stand and Anfield Road and the corner of the Main Stand and Kop. Whether there's any truth in it I don't know...

There is a lot of discussions going on behind the scenes re Tenants right to light and and will not be sorted for quite a while.

01 Jun 2012 12:27:59
eds do you think we will have trouble competing with spurs for players this summer, both big teams and top in the champions league. maybe harry will have the edge, do you think rodgers will have trouble attractin players with big reps?

carlos {Ed002's Note - It depends which players both clubs are interested in.}

Harry will be at chelsea

As always £££s will talk

Spurs aint in the Champions league this year.

Kalu may join as BR know him

He knows Drogba and Terry. Are we getting them too?

I would get sick if we forked out for Kalou.

If he knows kalou... hes not going to by him

He will also know that he aint good enough for LFC

My mum met him once do you think he might try talking her into playing she's got a good left peg and she.s probably better on the ball than kalou

He knows his gran also, is she joining?! I do hear she makes a nice cup of tea mind.

SCF27

If Liverpool sign Kalou it will say two things;
1 There is little or no money in the transfer pot
2 Its time to set expection a lot lot lower

I dont want chelsea sloppy seconds

I know my uncle doesn't mean i would sign him if i was manager
the wise one

01 Jun 2012 12:07:19
Hi Eds, please post - what do you think the transfer budget is for Rodgers this season? personally I am guessing at 30m plus sales. With the way Rodgers plays he probably needs a DM and striker plus he definitely needs 2 wide men to play his game. Cheer Great work with the site!!

There is no clear budget, the recruitment team will look at each player individually.
SA

Liverpool under new owners do not have a budget they review each target

We have a DM he's called lucas!

01 Jun 2012 12:04:44
Afternoon EDs
With regards to players leaving the club,is there much interest in the likes of Joe Cole,Aqualani ?

PM {Ed002's Note - Some in each. Money will be a problem in both cases I ssuspect.}

01 Jun 2012 11:59:57
I may be reading too much into this, but Brendan Rodgers failed to mention Luis Suarez's name, both at the press conference, and during his first interview with LFC TV. Is anything going down here? What do you think eds?

NosKee {Ed002's Note - You should know by now what I think.}

I really wouldn look to much into this. he didn mention skrtel aggar johnson. dont look to much into it he was hardly gonna mention the full squad. he made reference to players who are heros of the club for many years such as gerrard, reina and carra

He didn't mention Agger or Lucas either, I wouldn't read anything into it

He did not mention a lot of players, maybe he is selling them all?

Damion

Why do people like you scaremonger things like this? Especially when today should be positive. Noone is guarenteed to be here next year - but that has nothing to do with a managers unveiling.

It's unnecessary.

Ed002 if he is staying or going cant hide the fact you wish him to go no doubt your a fan of a rival club and fear him ill tell you this if he does go anyone is replaceable be carefull what you wish for

01 Jun 2012 11:47:18
Ed's Dont want to sound negative but im getting the feeling we are going to have a player exodus, with Raina comming out saying they wanted Benitez im not so sure they are hanging around,
whats your take on this? {Ed002's Note - Give it a little while to settle and we will have a better idea.}

After last season - who give a fig if Pepe comes or goes?

The reina thing was used out of context, use the search function and there is one on that

01 Jun 2012 11:46:53
Ed, Sun saying Man City, Juve and Wolfsburg are looking at Gaston Ramirez?

Have you heard any of this and does his chance of coming to Liverpool remain quite high? {Ed002's Note - As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him. He was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial enquiry. They will not now listen to offers less than 18M euros. However, Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Wolfsburg, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palermo and Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Manchester City, Spurs, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. Discussions took place between Bologna and Napoli - adding to discussions that have taken place with Juventus. Whilst Napoli were very much favourites for his signature Manchester City are best placed to make an early purchase.}

DONT BUY THE S#N - YOU TOSSA

Why are u reading the scum(sun)

Why are you reading the sun

Dnt read the scum person disrespect the 96 jft96 may they all rest in peace ynwa

Don't buy the sun or ever quote it on a LFC page!!!

Eds just do what LFC message boards do, dont post any sun content {Ed005's Note - So basically don't do what you have just done?}

You're not a real Liverpool fan if you even look at that thing

01 Jun 2012 11:46:27
Ed do you know if Suarez and reina want to leave

Thanks {Ed002's Note - We will see what happens about players leaving but the comments attributed to Reina will not go down well if true - and I stress, if true.}

Eds what waas reinas so called comments? post back please ------------
Those saying senior players wanted Benitez back, just to inform you that these interviews were done way before Rodgers was approached, and before anyone knew he was our No.1 candidate.

Good luck Brendan.

NY23

Absolutely ed, if reina did say that, knowing rodgers was being appointed, then im sorry, but he has to go, it is disrespectful to rodgers & the club, it looks like he's trying to engineer a move away. this is just my personal opinion -

I'd look at when the comments were made too. {Ed002's Note - And, critically, what question he was answering.}

I don't see any reason players would want to leave now.We have a manager who is making the right noises and the owners seem to be well in control of the situation.
Only time will tell but I think we have got the right man.
CR

Reina said in his book it was time for Rafa to leave. I doubt it's true.

Thought pepe was one of the senior players to fall out with rafa!? Sure he talks about it in his book. Seems a bit strange that he'd want him back

The cherry picker

I say get rid anyway, better kepers out there

Reina posted on twitter that he can't wait to start working with Rodgers next season straight from the horses mouth is good enough for me

Reina doesn't even have twitter haha

Reina made these comments about a week ago - why the fuss now?! Also, he qualified his comments about Rafa by saying 'obviously I'll support whoever gets the job'. People just sh*t stirring as usual.

Kieran

Comments were last week when asked about rafa twisted and taken out of context

01 Jun 2012 11:37:03
See he did not mention Suarez in the meeting hope he stays

Suarez will remain a red next season mate

Noticed this too , he almost had a freudian slip over it, i m inclined towards thinking the owners want suarez out but brendan would love him to stay {Ed002's Note - A "freudian" slip?}

He didnt mention most of the squad,i hope they stay as well....

He didn't mention any players name other than Gerard, Cara and pepe.

Perhaps he didn't mention Suarez for fear of someone asking a direct question about his thoughts on the whole Evra thing? However he did comment a lot on getting things right on and OFF the pitch....which is something Suarez, KK, Cotton etc failed to do

01 Jun 2012 11:32:59
really baffling why people are talking about hijacking the sigurdason deal to swansea, hes agreed personal terms and already stated he cant wait for next season with swansea, hoffenheim also said the 6.8 million is a fee agreed with swansea at the start of the loan or it would be 14 million plus due to hs performance last season, so its as near enough never gonna happen as at 14 million hed be a risk and cant see rodgers doing it to swanse, still not convinced about rodgers either tbh, he took over a team that already had that philosphy of football from roberto martinez, the team was the same bar signing danny graham and sigurdson on loan, the rest was martinez team, rodgers just made them more solid at the back but going foward and keeping the ball like they do was all martinez, hes certainly not gonna attract top four level players, also if rumours are true hes already been told before he took the job that suarez is gone but will be replaced by a similar calibre player so who knows, but money and big names isnt exactly whats needed, look at cabaye, jelavic, cisse, hernandez hardly big names but suddenly boom they are being talked about as world class

Surely Rodgers is the perfect candidate then. He took Martinez's team, and got the best out of them. If he can get the best out of this liverpool squad they will get a lot more results. He got Swansea promoted and easily secured them safety within 2 years, plus he made some great signing at Swansea, their keeper was outstanding along with sigurdason, and graham wasn't bad either. If he makes a couple decent signings, and gets people playing to their potential, next season could be a different story. Give him a chance.

How do you work out the team was the same martinez took 3 players with him to wigan jason scotland and a few others if you ever took the time to check any thing out you would know rodgers took swansea to another level he didn't get the job after martinez he took over from paulo souza who struggled with swansea rodgers tried playing that style of football with reading and watford every1 who has spoken about him from the swansea side said he took them to a whole new level and players will come because we are lfc and its 1 of the biggest clubs in the world we may no have champions league but not very player can play champions league we need hungry young players with a point to prove
the stinking truth

Did Paulo Sousa not manage Swansea after Martinez and before Rodgers?

Ppl keep mentioning its martinez team. Rodgers brought in Vorm, Sinclair, Graham, Britton & Sigguardson is that not "HIS" team is 50% were his signings????

Sousa didnt make a signing

Rodgers didnt sign sinclair or britton martinez did

This morning's Guardian article points to us staying at Anfield with some demolition on Lothair and Alroy to allow expansion of main stand with more corporates. Good thing and good economics.

Redpath

Hopefully its true, id rather have an expansion than nothing at all, would much prefer a new stadium but this will do.

When martin broughton was
selling the club he said the one
requirement of the new owners
was to build a new stadium,then
we got fsg,these people will not
i state will not build a new stadium they just don't have the
money, if the offer ever comes
again to have shared stadium
iwould bite their hand off,while
were fiddling rome is burning
bigtime......12years and not even
a spade in the ground,the next time the club is sold it needs
to be to a sheikh or oligarch
thats what it will take to move
us away from this syndrome of
we must finish 4th..................

Good Morning Eds,

Now we have appointed Brenden Rogers as our manager, will he strike while the iron is hot and begin searching for players asap?

Thanks

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed002's Note - I doubt that there will be an immediate knee-jerk reaction.}

He goes on holiday in the morning??

He's meeting scouts later today, Peter McDowell from lfc tv just tweeted.

Wrong again ed002 meeting scouts straight away

01 Jun 2012 11:11:39
eds can rodgers attract foreing pplayers?
please answer back

dave 343 {Ed002's Note - It depends who you mean.}

Muniain {Ed002's Note - It will make no difference who the manager is.}

Well he can speak Spanish and tad Portugese. Not only will that help with a large contingent of our dressing room, but also in South Americans and Spainish players around the world. I'm pretty confident he can attract some bargains from La Liga etc. The key is looking at players who work hard offensively and defensively and have good technique with the ball. One of Susaeta or Ander Herrera would be fantastic. I'm sure there are even more gems in the La Liga that he can find.

People like Roy Hodgson and Mark Hughes work with many foreign players - I don't think the nationality of the manager makes too much of a difference. It's the club that attracts players.

Because sigitson is a beautiful english name. div

Now we can all forget about signing any of Swansea's players as Juw Henkins has stated that Liverpool won't be able to sign anyone of Swansea players as part of the compensation package agreed.I'd really like us to move for Ibrahim Affelay,Matias Suarez,Ryad Boudebouz n Gaston Ramirez. I say sell Joe Cole+Dirk Kuyt+Maxi,which i think wouldn't fetch us more than 7m,use it and get Affelay. Use Aquilani + 10m for Gaston Ramirez cos its clear Aquilani doesn't wanna stay. Mattias Suarez+Ryad Boudebouz shld cost 20m combined or thereabout. There we go,four players with creativity,flair,pace,skill and goalscoring ability at a net spend of 30m. I don't see Cavani performing so well with Suarez because in their national team,Cavani has always been overshadowed by Suarez and he isn't scoring that many goals as Suarez for his country. I feel Mattias Suarez who is a similar player to Luis Suarez would be a cheaper and better option.

Bryan Francis

Surely we can sign players who they had on loan?

Verily verily i saw unto you,i seriously do not think we would sign sigurdsson

BR may or may not be a good manager. Its all relative though and we will have to see. My point is that his appointment is largley irrelevant who manages Liverpool in terms of where we will finish in the league. Without the money that Man U, Man C or Chelsea spend we will not be able to compete for the premiership. Just look at who chelsea have brought in already. The big difference between them and us is that if a player does not work out they can move on and get another. We can't. Until we can compete on a financial footing i cannot see us getting higher than 4th even if we have an exceptional season. Football has changed and more than ever its a billionaires playground. I honestly think their has to be some type of wage cap going forward like they have in Gridiron. As you were

Newcastle did not spend big and they had a team that challenged until the last couple of weeks

Completely disagree.

The manager makes all the difference.

Exhibit A is a guy called Juergen Klopp in Germany. Look him up, and what state his club was in when he took over.

Once our coaching staff makes us more successful on the field, money and better players will follow.

That's how we became the biggest spenders in the country by the 1980's.

Yes we could look for an Arab sugar daddy who will drop half a billion just for giggles. Is that the only way to succeed? Certainly not.

With that attitude why donn't stayn at home. You miss the point of being a supporter, its the passion that counts from the team and the supporters something we have lacked for 4 years plus.

Most sensible post of the night,
while we've been trying to win
the prem. chelsea have overtook
us,citeh have overtook us, no coincidence that they have
sugardaddies while we presumably
run our club the right way,who's kidding who...............

auntie annie........ {Ed022's Note - I would appreciate it if you stopped posting in Capital Letters all of the time, and if you ignore me then I will simply delete all of your posts and ignore them. Thanks.}

The club has to be making a profit due to the new rules coming in from uefa so they won't be able to do that an longer

Just an idea....Rodgers is a 'friend' of Mourinho and he even said in the conference that Mourinho texted him to congratulate him on the job, also Mourinho has been in the press to state how 'talented' Rodgers is.
Mourinho may be willing to make deals with Rodgers as in loan players to Liverpool. For example Nuri Sahin who would fit Rodgers philosophy which he did mention in the conference. Just an idea. {Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure that the Director of Football at Real Madrid will have other ideas. Mourinho is not directly responsible for dealing with transfers so anything which happens would not be a favour to Rodgers. However, Trabzonspor and Galatasaray have a declared interest in Hamit Altintop who will be leaving Real Madrid this summer. There is nothing confirmed regarding Liverpool's interest although it was suggested in the press a while back that they could be interested. He would be cheap but at 29 not a long-term solution.}

Altintop agreed a move to gala yesterday

Unbelievable for ed 2.at the end of the season ebay will run out of zorro mask.

Liverpool cannot purchase any Swansea players for the next 12 months. Sigurdson however is not a Swansea player yet! This is not a rumour and i do not claim to be in the know, but he will be a possible target if we are intersted.

RossTheRed

But, the deal is a deal as a loan and purchase to Swansea done last year. The fee and terms were agreed and Swansea are triggering the deal to buy him.

01 Jun 2012 10:42:15
Ed what are the chances of Adam Johnson? {Ed022's Note - There has been previous interest but if I remember correctly he has displayed some attitude problems which has put us off of him. However, interest could be revived I suppose.}

Hope to god not, adam johnson is a brainless footballer, beats his man and time and time again fails to get his head up to pick out a team mate

01 Jun 2012 09:54:47
Chelsea buy Marine, Hazard, Hulk and we are apponting a manager who just have 1 years of experiance in EPL. FSG only can shine if FFP rules use very strongly. otherwise I don't see We can Cope with City, Chelsea and Man U. Sad to say that but that's the reality.
When a Ston drop on your head closing the eyes is not the solution. Pepe , Suarez Both want to leave. and I don't think Rodgers can bring many star player. only Hope is Mourinho Rodgers ex Boss who may help him some way.

theRedman

What is it with everyone being so negative about rodgers? get behind him

Give the man a chance he has only been at the club for an hour! You dont need to buy player at 30 or 40 million to challenge chelsea ect there are talents out there for cheap; that he can develop as thats what hes good at so in a coupe of years we'll be back up there were we belong

Awful, clueless, defeatist post ...

Yeh the talents will come from reading, watford etc FSG dont want to spend money on players apart from compensation packages, hence they did not sign rafa, van gaal, laudrup etc Also FSG know rodgers wont be able to attract top players anyway, where would you go play under di matteo, wenger etc etc or Rodgers I know where I would go! Roy hodgson repeated!

Bloody hell lads give the guy a chance ......we are liverpool football not whingeing mancs get behind the man

Whinge, whinge, whinge. Get behind the man for crying out loud. So bloody negative. He's got good pedigree, learning at some top clubs, and a fantastic football philosophy.

What a depressing individual you are. Nothing like a "supportive" fan!

Get behind b.r! look how well Newcastle did without spending big money

I know sas(sutton and shearer)were quality....but i dont think buying marines will help!

Your attitude is terrible and your English is terrible!

Rob

Whats the obsession with having to sign a "name" seriously FSG know what there doing, its about what fits in with the Liverpool way and our model going forward...get behind him, be a supporter, if yo uwant Money, soleless club with ego maniacs but have great stats on FIFA I suggested you make your way to Manchester and/or chelsea.

Di matteo has barely any experience aswell and he did ok, give him a chance, spurs had a few seasons before theyre players like bale started preforming

Just cant understand all the negativity, I for one would be delighted to watch Liverpool playing with the panache that Swansea did at times last season, couple that with the fact that we have a better standard of player then surely it can only bode well for the season

Not 1 minute into the new managers term and he's already being slated.
Negativity is like a cancer to a club.
Give the guy a break and do what you're supposed to do.
Support the club.

Wow, some serious negativity. i for one am prepared to give the man a chance. i dont want a team full of imported super stars. better that we find jems and make a team of ledgends. fsg have done nothing wrong in my eyes. i will support the team and the manager and give it a chance

Rodgers will be good and will play entertaining footie. i do think we do need a ffp though otherwise city will just buy the trophy

Does anybody speak jive?

01 Jun 2012 09:53:39
Huw Jenkins said Rodgers can't some back for any Swansea players for 12 months.

So u can stop rumours for them. I only hope we can hijack Sigurdsson

01 Jun 2012 09:37:46
Is there any interest in kagawa or are other big clubs more likely to sign him?
Y.N.W.A {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Udinese, Spurs, Villarreal and Valencia, who have shown an interest in Kagawa this past few months. Kagawa says that a move to Manchester United would be impossible to turn down and interest from Manchester United is increasing. I would not be surprised to see him stay at Dortmund if he cannot get the move he wants.}

01 Jun 2012 09:31:26
I aim not to be abusive but this is an opinion I really want to be shared with my fellow liverpool fans.

While I appreciate this is a rumours site and love hearing people chat about Cavani/levazzi etc. coming, I think people are incorrect when they say we have to spend big to catch up because the other teams ahead of us are spending big.

The fact is we don't have Champions league and spending big now is the LAST thing we should do for three main reasons:

1. We cannot attract the players that are worth spending big for and end up gambling on potential which theres a chance the player will not fulfill due to the enourmous pressure of price tag.

2. Spending big also significantly reduces our budget for future years when we may actually achieve Champions League football or worse after not achieving Champions League football thus increasing the gap.

3. And thirdly, the squad and wages is way too big as it is.

If man city say 15 mill for johnson, we should say 10 mill or leave it off
Likewise with boudebouz (excuse spelling), its six mill or forget it.

They are not worth more.

This is not a boo hoo, we are not in Champions League message to you all. We are a club with a great history who can attract a whole range of players who haven't made their name big yet.

We need to spend very smart this transfer season on maybe 3/4 top quality young players. I would delighted if we make a few shrewed buys and even make a profit/break even from this transfer season for once. And hopefully more players go out than players come in.

I would love to start with Sigurdsson. seen a lot of him and believe he can be fantastic for us. 6.8 million is a steal. These are the kind of signings we must be making.

It is very important that we sell players this season. Surely there's a club out there who will spend 1 million on Spearing, 3 million on Aqualani. We need to be realistic. These players have done nothing and these are pretty much their values. If Rodgers thinks he can make them better then brillant. I will support them all the way but if not I hope they get sold.

Keep the quality, add some quality and sell the fat. We can close the gap on those ahead of us by putting together an excellent team instead of a team of indivduals.

I really believe in Brendan Rodgers we have got a great coach who has done excellently in the transfer market. Reading got rid of him too early, even though reading fans would disagree with the results after but sacrificed the beautiful flowing football for a very structured game. Rodgers was changing things but had too much to do with reading. Swansea worked because they only needed to be tweaked rather than drastically changed to play his style. It is clear Liverpool too only need that tweaking as the football Kenny/Steve had them playing was quite decent but needs a little tweaking.

And for the love of god have some optimism. Some of yee on here are the most pesimistic bunch I've ever seen.

Still Love yee all,
Davey Sulls.
You'll Never Walk Alone.

First sensible comments i have heard in a long time.

That's better, a bit of optimism.Get behind Brendan, he came over very well at the press conference.I think FSG have got it right.

Completely agree with you!!

I've been on this site for quite a while now and this is easily the best and most sensible post yet.

Well said.

Not following blindly does not make one '

100% spot on - brilliant post mate!

Well said!

Its really nice to finally see someone with and level head and speaking some sense.
Could do with you posting more often

Well said mate , i couldent agree more a very sensible post + it makes sence

Totally agree we cant be firing 20 million around on average players, it would serve us better to buy young players and take a gamble, we could be no worse off, that is the problem with a big club like us we must win every match so there is no chances for younger players, I can see Brendan taking a gamble on younger players and putting them in to first team playing his way, totally FSG plan

01 Jun 2012 09:30:54
Now Ed's, what do you think of the Gaston Ramirez link with City? Do we still have a chance of signing him? {Ed002's Note - As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him. He was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial enquiry. They will not now listen to offers less than 18M euros. However, Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Wolfsburg, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palermo and Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Manchester City, Spurs, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. Discussions took place between Bologna and Napoli - adding to discussions that have taken place with Juventus. Whilst Napoli were very much favourites for his signature Manchester City are best placed to make an early purchase.}

01 Jun 2012 09:26:44
Anyone heard the rumours about Pepe to Milan ?

No cos you just made it up

01 Jun 2012 09:24:03
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins reveals unable to sign players from Swansea for 12 months as part of the compensation deal for Rodgers.

Recoill1975

Rodgers refused to acknowledge that in his press conference, saying that he has a great relationship with Huw Jenkins.... make of that what you will, but to me that says their relationship will allow deals to be made

01 Jun 2012 09:14:14
Rodgers has an one year agreement with swansea that he WONT take any players from them!!

However, we could take sigurdson (spelling) because a lotof people seem to forget that he isn't an actual swansea player (at least not yet)

01 jun 2012 08:56:31
eds would be really grateful if you could answer this one to the best of your ability.
if the rumours of madrid trying to get drogba (paying silly wages) do you think one of the other strikers might become available as all are useful enough and may not want to sit on the bench.benzama would strike me as a tricky individual to handle. please reply.
many thanks
{Ed002's Note - There is a very good chance that Higuain will eb leaving over the summer.}

Higuain and suarez would make a formiodable front two

Is there any chance that he could join Liverpool or are his wages and value to high? He's be one of the signings of the season if we got him for under 40million. {Ed002's Note - I really don't see that happening. Higuain was offered to Chelsea but with a proviso regarding Cavani that was not acceptable. The price discussed was also rather high. I expect Juventus to make a bid for the player if they cannot tempt Cavani or Suarez. PSG will follow up their interest and if Real Madrid wish to move for Cavani he could be sold. Chelsea remain interested at a lower price but perhaps PSG is his most likely destination if he does leave.}

01 Jun 2012 08:39:41
Sigurdsson in and Adam out would be a good start to the window.

Papa G

No swanea players will be sold to liverpool this season,as rodgers has an agreement in place.

Probably won't see Sigurdsson - there's reported to be an agreement that BR won't poach any Swansea players for 1 year {Ed022's Note - Sigurdsson is not a Swansea player, remember that.}

Wont happen as BR has an agreement with swans not to take any players

01 Jun 2012 08:10:53
it would not surprise me if we sold andy carroll especially if he has a great euro campaign

????.strange logic.

Why would we sell him after a successful run in the Euros? Does that even make awny sense to you?

No andy isnt a mobile centre centre forward and if he does well at the euros his value may approach 25 million and we may well take the ten million hit on him to fund a move for a more mobile cf to play alongside suarez

I really hope we dont

Carroll scored for fun with newcastle so playing in an average side and scoring he will come good .... No striker comes good till there mid 20s he will be well the 35mil spent in years to come ....

England will not have a good euro campaign due to the number of our average players in the squad.
When woy said he was going to take Liverpool to Europe we never knew he had this in mind!

It makes sense if he don't fit into br playing style and he can sell him for a decent price why not? Although I like carroll just depends if br thinks he can fit in

I think he actually fits into br's style because he uses a target man (graham) up fornt and i think that carroll will do as good job in this kind of set up.

01 Jun 2012 08:04:53
Don't know whether this has been mentioned before, but with BRs connections with mourinho, I think it's feasible that there may be a possibility of some real Madrid fringe players, even if just on loan, to bolster the squad and increase options.
While we don't want to be anybody's charity case I just think itll be a handy short term option until we're able to attract bigger names through CL qualification etc. it may well get us there quicker.

Aintree red

We're not Everton.

We have a good first 11 that needs a bit more depth. A few summer signings and we'll see what BR can do with them.

Maureen has never even let chelsea have any of his players and he allegedly loves the club why would he do any favours for us

Why would we want real madrid fringe players who cant even get in madrids team,?

Also his other connections in Spain and the fact that he is invited to observe Spain training at the Euros will help?

Iggypop

Fair shout

01 Jun 2012 07:51:11
all the current noises are that rodgers will have a 25 million summer budget
wondering if this will be with or without whatever is made from player sales??

There won't be a set amount, each singing will be evaluated individually.

Noises are just in your head!

We wont be spending 30 million on one player though i m guessing

For the 1000000000 time their is no set budget

I suppose we'll get Simon Cowell to evaluate each singing ?

There are no noises.

Look nobody knew who was gona be the manager until it was almost done so how have you come up with a transfers budget - plus lfc have said there is no set budget they work on a deal by deal basis. Just wait and see how much we spend.

01 Jun 2012 07:40:04
EDs are we rumoured with any players outside of Europe? cheers mate {Ed002's Note - None that I can think of right now, but there is an active scouting network in South America.}

01 Jun 2012 07:39:19
Do you expect Rogers to sell Suarez, Adams or Skrtel? I hope not {Ed002's Note - If any are sold, don't blame Rodgers.}

Agree with ED's if anyplayers do leave lets not start the Rodgers isnt a big enough name campaign. Oh and any bashing our owners we should be grateful, we could have an owner like Dave Whelan font get me wrong what hes done for wigan so be admired but we should keep his opinions on other clubs to himself!!

01 Jun 2012 06:51:22
Hi Eds,

With Chelsea going on rampage buying expensive players for loads of money & wages... don't these clubs like Man City and Chelsea have any worry abt FFP?

For me 1st I thought it is going to be a very good policy by UEFA but when City's owners sold naming rights to their own company for mega bucks and nothing really happened the fair play rules were going to be just another mockery by UEFA.

Bosco {Ed002's Note - You need to put the FFP rules to the back of your mind for the next two years.}

01 Jun 2012 06:02:49
is it true Hulk to chelsea is also a done deal?
so its marin,hazard,mata,hulk,torres thats the attack for them? {Ed002's Note - Not a done deal, but looking pretty likely.}

All but done as £38M has been agreed by all party.
chelsea will bring in 2 more superstars topping there transfer spend at £150m for 2012/2013 season

Add the £13million they paid Porto to break AVB's contract and then the £12million they paid to sack him, according to the press if that's to be believed.

If it is true then in my opinion the PL will be back with Chelsea next season. Time for Liverpool to start the fight in 2012/13 for CL football (3 years max) against the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.

It will be like real madrid. They will get superstar players that cannot play together.

And dont forget they signed that guy from genk in january as well de bruyne i think is his name

01 Jun 2012 06:01:17
Morning Ed's

I dont see any negatives in the BR announcement.He is young ,has a passion to play the game in a pass and move style,his team press high up the pitch. If we can start to finish some of the many chances we created last season then we wont go to far wrong .

IYO can you see any of the Swansea team coming to Anfield?
The second part do you think that Jordan Rhodes may be looked at?
Finally is there a reasonable expectation we will add to these positions ACM,LW,RW,ST

Thanks for all the hard work to keep us appreciative fans up to date

REDFORLIFE {Ed002's Note - There may be a provision in Liverpool's agreement with Swansea that stops the club taking players for a period. I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in Rhodes but Newcastle, Everton, Aston Villa, Fulham and West Ham are certainly looking to him. I think the new manager will need some time to assess the players before finalising plans.}

I cannot believe you just that you see nothing wrong with Rodgers appointment. He has only had one season in the prem he could be another George Burley and he is to big a risk. His style of play according to the swansea is that swansea have been playing that way for years they played it before rodgers and they will play it after him.
I cannot believe this size of this gamble. Bt fsg. They are having us fooled by their PR into believeing that this is long term, of course it is and by appointing rodgers we have set our sights in midtable for the future until either we get the stadium sorted or we Rafas accademy produces the players it can.

I would have ensured there was a clause in the compensation package that prevented Liverpool from making offers for Swansea players for 12 months. Especially with the Sigurasson situation.

01 Jun 2012 05:47:29
Hi eds,
Just wondering if sahin is available this summer as he has been a bit part player at real. {Ed002's Note - Sahin has had injury problems this year but rumours do persist about his long term future. If he were to leave I would very much suspect a move to Italy (possibly with AC Milan) or a return to Germany (with Bayern Munich) would come before any thoughts of a move to England. Malaga also spoke to Madrid about the possibility of a loan and Galatasaray would like to take him to Turkey.}

01 Jun 2012 05:44:59
Ed's is true that Gregory Van Der Wiel is available for as little as £8 Million?And your thoughts on why Spain don't consider Jose Enrique as back to Alba. . {Ed002's Note - Van Der Wiel will probably move in the summer and his preference remains Spain - although it is unlikely that something can be worked out with Valencia. Real Madrid have also shown an interest in the player. Chelsea may maintain an interest but they remain more interested in Azpilicueta. Roma was another option for VDW but he has turned them down.}

01 Jun 2012 07:25:06
Hi Eds. Does the transfer window open today or 1st of July? {Ed002's Note - July 1.}

01 Jun 2012 05:24:38
Liverpool interested by Mexican duo Hector Hererra and the usual suspect Marco Bueno

Take Care

Nile

01 Jun 2012 00:02:42
Is der any interest in marik hamsik? Also any news on if anything is happening with ganso, tanx great site

If Ganso moves. .as the ed's stated it will be to A.C Milan and i doubt Napoli would want to sell Marek Hamsik because their on the verge ov losing Edinson Cavani and Lavezzi mate but anything is possible.
Nile

The ed said that Hamsik has signed a new contract and there is no way we can get Ganso.

31 May 2012 23:57:12
Is there any truth in us being close to signing Diame on a free eds? Also any idea if Rodgers is interested in bringing any of his old Swansea players with him? {Ed005's Note - We were when Dalglish was manager but not now. Perhaps Rodgers will push ahead with a deal for him.}

31 May 2012 23:48:53
Not to ignored peeps .new stadium will be called Anfield as there will be a ground revamp and extension not a new stadium.may well be part of press conf tomorrow morning cheers

If there is a revamp then it will be funded by naming rights anyway.

They could still sell the naming rights of Anfield though, For £100 Million I would, that money would come in very handy {Ed002's Note - I think such a move would PO many of the fans.}

31 May 2012 23:48:39
As of today, ANY club can activate Demba Ba's £7million release clause and have a period of 2 months in which to do this. This was reported in today's Mirror. It is not just Champions League clubs as they linked him with move to Spurs. Rodgers should go for
him

Why?? He was quiet pretty much the whole second half of the season! It was all about Pappis cisse- maybe we should just buy all NUFC strikers & watch then flop because they suit the way of their style of play! Only NUFC striker I would have taken would be shearer! {Ed016's Note - We almost got him twice. One of the best English strikers of all time. Have to admire what he did for NUFC almost seems rite he didn't move to us}

Ed almost ain't good enough! It's always the case with liverpool "almost"! The amount of players we could have had probably should have had but there's no final push!

And undoubtedly shearer was shear class!

MO (same guy as the reply)

Take a look at ba's injury history, doubt he would be happy been on the bench either as carrol and him wouldnt fit together and i would say andy will be starting alot next season

31 May 2012 23:26:47
Liverpool still require wingers for new campaign. They are looking for cheap alternatives that include:

Zoran Tosic
Milos Krasic
Ibrahim Afellay
Eljero Elia

Put Gio Dos Santos in there

Milos krasic isnt cheap

31 May 2012 23:23:51
There's a lot of talk that Gylfi Sigurdsson is pretty close to signing for us, just passing it on. Hopefully I got the name right.

31 May 2012 22:17:05
To Ed002 - I appreciate this question may be a little early, so forgive me for jumping the gun..

The other week, you said some transfers had been hold (so to speak whilst we sort out the new manager) do you know if any movement has started again on these particular targets...?

Cheers {Ed005's Note - I'm sure it will in coming days, there's little bits and pieces to do before Rodgers can get down to the nitty gritty. I would expect one or two targets to perhaps change.}

{Ed002's Note - The two players referred to were Ryad Boudebouz and Rasmus Elm.}
