Any teams interested in Docoure from watford? Very impressed with him tonight.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he has only just forced his way into their team, they were trying to send him out on loan in the summer. Next summer will be the time they look to cash in on him.}

01 May 2017 23:59:35
He had a good game but I can't judge him on just one match.

Just got a wave from Jurgen Klopp getting off the coach. It's a positive sign we're going to win well tonight.

Eds any interest still remaining in durmisi real betis left back? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach to his club or his agent from Liverpool and generally don't know much about Riza Durmisi although the press has asked him about the interest of Liverpool - of which he said it would be nice but knows nothing of it and is happy where he is. He moved to Real Betis last summer after no interest was shown by Dutch or German sides and the interest of Reading was rebuffed. He is a left wing back - and to the best of my knowledge Real Betis has no interest in selling.}

01 May 2017 15:36:35
Thanks ed thought id seen somewhere we'd shown interest. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I know he was asked about it in January but I am not aware of any approach - nor was he then.}

Ok ed thanks for replies.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome Stevie.}

If anyone wants to know how good Ricardo Perreira (RB for Nice, on loan from Porto) is, just check out his assist (long busting run and sweet pass to Balo from a brilliant finish) and sumptuous goal (cuts in from the right, curls one in with his left to the top corner).

I know we are interested and if we want to really upgrade the FB position (as he can play both) he is the one we need. He is top class.

Yeah, we need adept attacking fullbacks in order for Klopp's system to be taken to the next level. His system is heavily reliant on fullbacks contributing to the attack an unfortunately the players he has for the fullback positions are not up to standard to deliver the goods.

My hope is that Klopp brings in quality and major upgrades on what we currently have for the both fullback positions.

Fingers crossed!

From what I've seen seems to be able to cross a ball properly. Not saying he is a great player but watching Kingsley from Swansea yesterday and was able to cross from deep with pace and whip, which caused united problems. Don't need a big cf to score from those either as gives the striker a chance to get the run on the defender for an open header.

I think the loan back to Fulham may well be a perfect scenario, especially if Fulham manage promotion, it would give him the chance to play top flight and Liverpool chance to see if his potential still looks as good in the prem as it does in the championship.

Agree2 Disagree1

01 May 2017 14:36:48
If we sign someone then he should play with us. What's the point in loaning back. We need first team player. If Sessengon could playf for us, then fair enough else try someone. The last thing you need is another Grujic or Allan!

Agree8 Disagree3

01 May 2017 18:32:11
You're talking about Grujic and Allan like you've already written their chances off. Why? Still time for them to become important players for us, by all accounts.

Of course we need first team ready players, but I have no problem of season-long loans if our coaches think it will help their development.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - A loan for Grujic is a problem due to promises made to the player and others. Whilst much is expected of Grujic he was far from EPL first team ready and it was an error to bring him in at that time on the deal he got. Several small injuries and a couple of issues have disrupted his season. If central midfield was bolstered during the summer it would leave him wondering about his chances next season as well. Of several major sides interested in him at the time, it was only Liverpool who gave assurances. The others would have seen him on loan gaining vaulable experience. So a year older and no more experienced.

A further loan for Allan may be the only option due to work permit difficulties. Perhaps Liverpool will give a shot to trying to persuade folks he deserves a work permit and he will be a regular and valuable first team player next season. Else a loan or sale beckons - certainly no gimme.}

01 May 2017 19:05:57
Fair enough, but there's still a chance that both players could end up in the Liverpool first team, no? Seems a bit premature to right them both off.

My point is that loans aren't inherently bad. Some work well for a player's development - take Harry Kane at Millwall or Lukaku at West Brom, for example. Others, like the aforementioned, may not be so beneficial.

01 May 2017 19:55:50
Ed can you elaborate on the couple of issues Grujic has had in addition to the injuries at all? I was unaware. I will use the search if it's been covered previously cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, I don't think it appropriate but some work needs to be done.}

Hi Ed001 just wondering if Liverpool still have any interest in Gylfi Sigurddson.

Before i get accused of MOTF fever i know we held interest in him when he joined Spurs. And he has proven himself as a consistent premier league performer. Even if Swansea don't go down and we don't make top 4 he'd be a solid option to give the squad depth. If Swansea go down and we make top 4 it seem even more like a good fit.

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - no, he was a Brendan Rodgers target. The interest died when he went to Spurs and showed he is not willing to fight for a place.}

01 May 2017 05:38:35
Thanks Ed001. So he would have an issue with being a squad rotation player at times? Guess it wouldn't be a good fit then.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he left Spurs because he wanted guaranteed first team football.}

01 May 2017 07:17:21

I don't know if Spurs gave him what he wanted but he didn't reach his potential.

Sturridge is off to West Ham or West Brom.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

01 May 2017 02:35:19
One training session under The Pulis style of play could be fatal for Sturridge.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - what makes you say that? Pulis is very good at keeping players fit. Yes he pushes them hard, but that is why his teams very rarely struggle with injury problems through a season, they are fit enough to cope.}

01 May 2017 04:16:40
West Brom can't afford him in any way shape or form.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - yes they can. Every team in the Prem will have a huge influx of TV money.}

01 May 2017 07:18:15
WBA could finish 8th. Premier league prize money alone could pay his fee.

Agree2 Disagree1

01 May 2017 08:37:23
Have WBA asked about him ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not that I know of.}

01 May 2017 09:48:31
Sorry Ed.
It was said in jest and banter.

Most of the pundits say that pulis' teams style of play is more physical and direct and since Sturridge has a history of niggling injuries that the two would appear strange bedfellows.

No offence intended.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't offended, I was genuinely surprised. Pulis may have what is considered to be a style of play unsuited to Sturridge, but there is no certainty he will be in charge next season anyway. However it was you questioning Pulis's training methods I was taken aback by. One thing he does do is run his players, he builds up their fitness and endurance, unlike anyone else these days, so his players are able to cope with most things. I actually think a few months with Pulis would do any player good.}

01 May 2017 11:14:00
I think Pulis gets an unfair rap, his tactics are the same as Mourinho's but he doesn't have the luxury of a £200m transfer budget.

01 May 2017 12:37:56
Did West Brom not recently get taken over by rich Chinese owners? im sure they can afford him if they wanted him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes mate. There could be big changes afoot there. The owners are still considering the long term plan for the club.}

01 May 2017 13:22:35
So pulis could be out ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 May 2017 13:22:35
So pulis could be out ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - could be. Nothing is decided yet.}

01 May 2017 18:00:02
Would Klopp's method of training not be similar to pulis to build up fitness as I often see stats where Liverpool players have covered the most ground.?

Maybe that's what Sturridge needs to build up his core fitness as he seems to pick up more injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool players cover the most ground because of Klopp's panic-based kopflose huhn style of play where they run very quickly at the opposition players. Other teams are taught to let the ball do as much of the work as possible - hence they don't run so far.}

01 May 2017 21:57:07
So how does Pulis get his players fit? Does he have them doing long road runs or something else?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he does a lot more physical and endurance work, which players complain is boring, but it does make a huge difference to their stamina.}
