Not sure it's a big rumour but thought I would post anyway. I went on a Anfield tour today with family and got chatting to the tour guide. She was well clued up and stated that Raul had handed in a transfer request ages ago. More interestingly I asked her about the stadium redevelopment or the new build. She stated we are defiantly redeveloping in line with what Macca said, however she also suggested an extension to the kop with a tunnel used for the road behind. The centenary end would stay the same but they would expand the Anfield road and Main stands. It the first time I have been up in years and I after having a drive around the stadium it looks clear especially as they have bought the houses behind the main stand. Apologies I this sounds obvious but thought I would post. By te way she was legit, her old man is also heavily involved in the club. Thanks also to the Eds, great job guys

I know what you mean by the houses behind the main stand, I went on a stadium tour last week and recognized the same thing!

Yea cos all the people have vacated in such little time and of course no press would picked up on this, plus the council giving permission for the expansion takes a while, it may very well happen, and i hope it does as anfield will always be home, but it takes time, and the tour guide wouldn't be privy to architectural plans, just speculation and conjecture

Anfield will always be home but everton gave it to us. If we have to move then so be it 60.000 to 80.000 seater though

I worked in the Millennium stadium when it was being build and recently had a tour around there as well. It is a fantastic stadium with great facilities, however Anfield has a spiritual feel to it, you can sense the history. My wife commented on the basic nature of the changing rooms but I thought it was very special. You cannot buy history and I would take a 650000 redeveloped Anfield over a 800000 new build any day. Something else she mentioned was the train links which are currently unused.

The club has been buying up the houses directly surrounding the ground for years, most if not all are already unoccupied in preparation for an expansion. Whether we expand or move stadia the houses needed to be bought as any move would see the need for us to redevelop the Anfield site into houses/shops/parks as they did with highbury. It would be in the terms of any planning permission for us to be involved in the regeneration of the area.

Graeme

I too went on a tour 30th july with the great ian callaghan, the tour guide said that all the talk was about redeveloping anfield. he also said up until recently that was the case but maybe that talk had changed.
anyway the reason for texting is after reading Maccas info, maybe we are staying it seems strange as we are looking to increase capacity aswell as corporate, we only have 30 boxes at 62k per season whereas arsenal and the scum have 150. isnt that part of the loss

Can you imagine the security implications of a tunnel underneath the Kop, match days or not. Although agree to a redeveloped Anfield, I'm not sure about this part. You would re-design the whole area around the ground rather than the costs associated with building a tunnel.

Kemlyner

Its true, pretty much all the houses in the streets are unocupied, they have been for the past few years!
scouse brown

When considering the tunnel, I believe she implied that the road would run underneath the increased kop. She also mentioned the corporate boxes which as other posters have already states brings in a lot of coin.

Fully 2 streets parallel with the Kemlyn Rd are unoccupied and owned by Lfc.
Think it would be possible to demolish the Kemlyn Road Stand turn the pitch 90 degrees and build a New kop stand were the Kemlyn road used be. This seems more likely to me and make the stadium huge as the old Kop stand and the Anfield Road stand would have the room to be considerably extended just by turning the pitch.

I have found a respect for this 'Macca' fellow over the last few months. Not only for his insights into transfer rumours, but for his opinions on the game his and assessment of players too.

I noted he feels that the sale of Meireles is no great loss. I totally agree. I'm getting sick of people complaining about the sale here.

Anyone crying and bitching over the loss of Meireles has no clue. Really.

We are a new Liverpool. He had to earn his place in the side. If he thought a plastic award voted for by people who judge players on their last few games entitled him to a pay rise then he must be joking. He's not even in the first XI, who the hell does he think he is? Pele?

He was afraid of competition, also he was anonymous/poor in lots of games and refused to take any responsibility defensively - whilst in terms of attacking he offered much less than either Adam or Gerrard would/do.

He is also one of laziest and most cowardly players I have ever seen play for LFC.

I agree that our squad lacks depth in central midfield (a few weeks ago who would have said that!?) - but disagree that selling Meireles is something that contributes to that problem. I feel it's a defensive midfielder of quality to compete with Lucas that we need.

Last year this site had many a 'lets play Meireles and Gerrard in the centre' comment. Seriously. Some people are so clueless (Lucas was not so loved then as I recall).

Spearing would be an excellent 3rd choice to play this DM role, whilst Coady could yet emerge as a contender.

This will be a priority for our Champions League campaign next season (I believe!) - an injury to Lucas would leave us looking light in that area.

We have Adam, Gerrard and Shelvey to play alongside Lucas atm, we also have Henderson if need be. Meireles was not needed - we did well to get £12m for him.

When Gerrard was injured last year, RM did an okay job providing a bit of creativity to an abject midfield - he was a decent stop-gap measure in what was a decent LFC side in the 2nd half of the season - but he was never going to be great.

We have better players now, and that people are now suggesting Meireles was versatile - and that to play him on the right was/is a good option (an idea implemented by Hodgson to howls of derision) just shows how clueless some people are.

We have Henderson, Maxi, Bellamy and god forbid, even Dirk Kuyt - they are all better options for the right.

Great options up front now, and across the backline too. Excellent work during the summer.

Meireles was a decent player for us - leave it at that. He's not worth getting bothered about. I think he's a poor signing for Chelsea tbh. I wouldn't be over-excited if I was a Chelsea fan, thats for sure.

Any opinions ed002? Are you happy with the signing?

BJH YNWA

ps. For the next couple of transfer windows I feel we still need another left-wing option and another right-wing option, or someone who can provide backup on both sides (Like Marveaux was intended to be).

Though Bellamy is a good stop-gap for the coming season, we may need to strengthen again in Jan.

We also need a new DM option as mentioned. Also, depending on how Bellamy and Kuyt perform, we may be looking for a new striker by the end of the season too - time will tell. Good to put this pressure on them - challenge them to make themselves indispensable

The same applies for our central defenders. Carra and Skrtel have a lot to offer still, as does Agger (due to his injury record, he's a fantastic footballer) but they will all be worrying about their places. In defence of Skrtel, who has many critics, since Kenny took over he has improved immensely, he was abysmal under Hodgson though. Aurelio will eventually be replaced too, though young Robinson is looking good to take over there, he's still a kid - Glen Johnsons performances last year at LB & the option of Kelly and Flanagan at RB make this less worrying however.

Great competition for places now. I hope it brings out the best in the players we have. With so much deadwood gone, I have faith in the players we still have. It's up to them to prove they belong at LFC for this season and beyond.

And we have the kids coming through too!

I have a feeling that by the end of the season, we won't be talking about missing Meireles, but good luck to the guy.

pps. I think Meireles' sale confirms that the flexible 442 system we saw against Bolton will be our preferred setup this season. Nice. That's half the battle won.

It's a long post-script so I'll sign it again. Kind of like two posts in one really!

BJH YNWA (very long post, sorry - but the plans are taking shape, exciting times!) {Ed002's Note - Mereiles has been signed bery much as a squad player. It is tough to see how he will be used at Chelsea but as we all know he is a decent player.}

What a load self righteous drivel. Fans are right to be sceptical about meireles leaving, but to say 'we don't have a clue' for questioning it revokes the rest of your overlong moronic bumbling.

Joe

Wow that's one hell of a post but agree about mereiles

I totally agree with your post he's no great loss as a player and if he felt he should have earned more money he should have let his feet do the talking.feigning injury is the worse thing any footballer could do.

The longest 'p.s' Ive seen in a while...

Yea i agree dunno what the first commenter is on about really.. he didn't offer too much and people are going on about him like he's as good as Gerrard.. We played without him on Sat and I can't understand why people don't think we can play without him at all..

Totally agree mate, IMO Mereiles was a decent squad player, nothing more, but lacked the versatility of players we have since signed. The idiots claiming he's a decent right winger are clueless.
And i think 'Joe' proves your point with his reply.
GafLFC

I agree with u, and i really hope we are getting adam johnson in january, he is the only player i want now. if we get him, personally i think we have a title challenging squad. meireles wasnt even a first teamer this season.. why worry of him going out? if ppl say that he works well with suarez, u gotta start noticing henderson + suarez too. they're not bad either. given time, will improve.

Kaizer

The laziest and most cowardly player you've ever seen playing for LFC? This is probably the stupidest comment I've ever seen!

That is absolute garbage , besides lucas he was our best player last year , much better than henderson , he will be a big loss to our squad , saying done well with out him the weekend he came on against arsenaland change the whole game arond had a hand in everything when played

At last someone sees it like it is. He did a job for us (eventually) but was anonymous when the going got tough. He was never destined to become a great, just had his moment in a less than average team. Good luck to him, but we don't need overpaid whingers who don't know how lucky they were to wear the shirt. And good on the club for letting him go on their terms.
He wouldn't have got in the reserves in the 70s/80s or even 90s .....lets get behind the players who want to and deserve to be here.

Funny all the talk of the left back position yet you failed to mention Enrique!!

Just read in paper talk that kk got 30 mill in wages out of anfield. that is just as good as reult as the posotive sighnings. also degens contract ended by mutual consent.

all players that shouldnt have been given the chance to wear the red shirt, mireles will be a loss but hey we have a great strong squad now posotive times are ahead YNWA

Absolutely spot on mate ....couldnt of put it any better

Was decent but nothing more was too lightweight as we all know. Would have liked a replacement though

People crying and bitching are a small! very small minority!
12mil was good, as I think if we had given him a payrise and kept him he would of been on the way to being just More Deadwood! by the seasons end.

I agree,he always pulled out of tackles

Can we please get a couple of things straight. Firstly, we did not "let Aquaman go". He never settled in this country, and wanted to go back to Italy. There was never a question of him going to any other team, unless it was Italian.That in my eyes is not letting a player slip through your fingers.It's a bit of a cliche but a team will not perform at it's best with unhappy players, and somtimes it's not the best players that make the best teams , but more happy players who fight for each other, get on , communicate and work in harmony that do make winners , which kinda explains the Raul thing. Played good, and only good for a number of games last season, but is he irreplacable?Is he any better than Adam, Henderson, Lucas, Gerro, !? No, and with the wingers and players who can play in a variety of positions we are better off having him at another club, than having him mope, and moan. I moaned like hell at the price he went for , but stuff it , move on!We with the players we have can get at least 4th. In Kenny we trust!Y.N.W.A.

Do you really know the price he went for? Some say it was 12M, while others say it was 15M. The fee will be "undisclosed" and it will probably remain so.

BooDaBooze {Ed001's Note - it was just a touch under 12m, I think 11.88m if I remember correctly.}

hi macca,

is the rumour of cole 2 lille deal that we have got first refusal on hazzard if we make top 4 this season,

cheers

Im of the thinking that merelse was allowed to leave because he did not put is foot in

Come on people. The man put in a transfer request, we got 12 mill+ for a squad player, we are on fire! Wat more could we ask for compared to 12 months ago. Please... Long live the king.

Hav to say....I am disgusted with the meireles deal.. He was one of our most creative and effective players, especially in his link up with Suarez. I find it hard to criticise any move we have made this summer, but this was and will prove to be a mistake.. After a season of improvement, we are a world class player down.. For the season ahead, and the champions league football we will secure for next year raul would have been key, and to sell another player to the blue scum is ridiculous considering the only player they would release to us was Joe cole ! Miss u raul... Look forward to everyones thoughts...

You are joking surely, he was average at best, only got a game coz stevie g injured, I can't believe the fuss being made over him, Liverpool played some of the best footie in 3yrs against Bolton and he had nothing to do with it as injured, we don't need another wasteful journey man who doesn't want to play for us, good riddance and well done to king Kenny for bringing back the spirit and British spine to the team, this season is going to be great, enjoy it instead of whinging about something that doesn't matter

I have to agree with the response to this. People have Rose tinted glasses, Meireles had a half decent second half to the season with a few crucial and well taken goals, but also remember limping out of the West Ham game after a great tackle from Parker. I have it on very good authority there was nothing wrong with him and the comment from the authority was "good player when you're 3 up, but if it gets tough he wants off the pitch". Also anyone who wants to treble his wages based on half decent is a not worth the shirt. He was never going to be the difference in winning things.

??? He put in a transfer request!! get over it he was not 1st eleven anyway!
CoolhandLFC

I have to agree why meirerles wasnt "world class" he had a good run and thats it i really dont know where the fuss about his is coming from. and i also dont understand how he's creative when hes one of the poorest touches in the pl. everything kenny has done has ben good!
lfc all day

Fed up with people whining on bout raul .yes he was good but a bit lightweight and injury prone,more important didnt want to fight for his place ,greedy for more money and,slapped in a written transfer, kenny always said from day 1 nobody is bigger than lfc nobody,goodbye prima donna

He did not want to stay so get rid

Lets stop all this i'm disgusted with the meireles deal and be happy with what we have got and move forward.I would like to remind people that we have a certain mr gerrard to come back!
JJ blackpool

There was an agreement at the club that if he had a good season he would be rewarded with a payrise - this should of been honoured.

He didn't have a great first half of the season but neither did anyone (chalk that one up to hodgsons man management) but under KK he looked the genuine article an certainly performed well during the second half of the season.

I'm not saying he set the world alight but he looked good, looked promising and looked like he could've given us a different option in our team (similar to the sort of option Luis Garcia gave us once upon a time).

Instead we have sold him (cheaply in my opinion) to a main champions league rival - i do not see the sense in this in football terms or financial terms - bottom line the agreement to give him a payrise shoud've been honoured and he should still be at the club, he's a great option to have even if its on the bench, instead Chelsea now have this option - big mistake.

SMc

He looked good compared to the rest of hodgsons signings but really just average

Give it up! If we had give him a pay rise! We would of had another high earning older fringe player on the books.
Liverpool fc have sold him got our money back and he's got his pay-rise at Chelski. End of!
kidmillions

You're mad. 29 year old ballerina. we're laughing all the way to the bank -we overpaid to begin with and we've still turned a profit. Duckula
All hail the king.

Meireles is nt world class mate.decent but not world class.jonny m

What the f*** is wrong with these people, HE WANTED TO GO, THE PAY RISE WAS AGREED UNDER THE OLD OWNERS, RAUL HAS NEVER PLAYED 'WORLD CLASS' AT LFC, GOOD RIDDANCE!

He asked for a transfer, he was very injury prone, he hid when the going got tough,had very limited versatility, and he was 28, and doesn't fit into FSG's criteria for a player, abd I believe we actually made a small profit on him!
Do you need any more reasons why it was a good deal for LFC?

STFU and back your team

Raul Meireles is NOT World Class.. Alonso, Gerrard, Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Rooney are all World Class... Meireles is not fit to lace their boots.. There's no doubt he had talent but he had serious flaws in his game.. I follow LFC Home and Away and here's what i noticed having watched him first hand - He couldn't/wouldn't tackle, had no bottle, went missing when it got tough, never contributed for a full 90 mins in any game, had no strength, no pace, couldn't beat a man and lets not forget him sticking his middle finger up to the bench when Suarez scored against Arsenal... Good Riddance -he won't be missed.. May i remind you who our Manager is ? - Dalglish's name is alongside Shankly & Paisley and we should all get behind him for what he's done.. Don't forget where the club was 12 months ago.. Now we enjoy exciting, attacking football with a far better standard of player... Stop moaning cos i'm assuming you don't want to go back to the days of Insua, Degen, Ngog, Dossena, Voronin, Konchesky, Poulsen etc etc... The list goes on!

Link up with Suarez... so we are basing this on one game vs Arsenal. Typical knee jerking...

Raul did nothing before xmas last year. He is not world class....how many fans really knew of his existence before he came? I didn't see the top european sides clamouring for his signature. He played well eventually in a poor team and pitched in with some important goals. But he was a lightweight and often shirked the tackle. We need players with more heart (and less greed) than Raul.

Its really winding me up now he was well overrated i think we done well to get our money back, well see how long he lasts at chelski.
Any fan who watched every minute of our games would see how good he really is not just the bits they show on match of the day.
Links up so well with suarez tho ay (5 mins against arsenal) lol
Forget him now hes s**t

Hey eds, Sturridge or hazard??
Not who you think will sign, but what one will infuriate you more with people on here claiming he's coming to LFC? Haha

MIKEY
{Ed002's Note - It is easy because neither will be moving to Liverpool.}

@Ed002 - I thought that one of the other eds said that we have an agreement to match any bid put in for Hazard in the future and the club will take our bid if the player chooses us.
If that is the case then we obviously have had some contact and I think it would be premature to say that he will never come here.

Ed002 mikey is just asking who you think would have the biggest impact.....

01 Sep 2011 19:45:42
Hi eds. Any news on Brad Jones? Think he'll be released or will we wait til Jan to sell him? {Ed002's Note - He will be released at whatever time has been agreed.}

01 Sep 2011 19:03:33
As far as I know, if Liverpool are on course to hit the Champions League spots, they will sign players in January in order to bed them in before the next season. These include:

M'Baye Niang (9mil) Similar player to Bellamy. He works hard, can play on either wing and is lightning quick (like Djibril Cisse quick)

Gary Cahill (6mil)

Think even with a few months of his contract left it will take more than 6m to get Cahill

No it wouldn't, just the promiss of ridiculous wages in summer (in Jan. he can talk to any team he wants about a move in summer '12, so long as he doesn't sign a contract extension with BWFC before.)

01 Sep 2011 18:29:19
Do you know if we were the club that made the £10million bid for Nikola Jelavic?

I can confirm it was Newcastle that had a 10m bid rejected not us.

Garbage, it was a smokescreen !

Yh i too heard it was the toon

01 Sep 2011 17:45:38
the truth about benayoun: yossi was on his way to liverpool but he had a phone call from arsen venger and after this phone call yossi change his mind...ed do u know what venger told to yossi that made him to choose arsenal and not us...? {Ed001's Note - that he would be first choice, I don't know about any phone call but I do know that is why he chose to sign for Arsenal.}

Yossi was never one his way to Liverpool, everything was done in London. A contract offer from Liverpool was faxed to London, he was never "on his way" North. I imagine he picked Arsenal over us because his basic wage will stay the same (due to the loan), he will probably be a first team player whereas he'd only ever be a back-up for us, and he won't have to up sticks and move house

Red Ollie

He phoned the lad from korea to pick arsenal over liverpool.

That is 100% incorrect, Yossi was desperate and we dropped interest in him..

Cheers

Macca

That the realy macca

ste liverpool {Ed009's Note - Yes.}

Hi eds,

Cheers for all your work over the transfer window.

Do you know if we were the club that made the £10million bid for Nikola Jelavic?

Cheers {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware it was nothing to do with us, I was told we were looking at other forwards, but all had pace I was also told. Jelavic is a lot of things, but he is not pacey at all.}

Ed001 we did put a late offer in for him but it was turned down. The offer was fora loan. {Ed001's Note - sorry but I don't believe you, there would have been no chance of a loan offer being accepted and there is no way we would have made one.}

This rumour has caused much mirth on the Celtic pages. They're saying it was a fit-up courtesy of the Rangers chairman to impress their fans, to show how strong they were in turning down the bid.
The Real KB

Kb, thats exactlw what it was. an agent phoning up for an unnamed club ? really, mr whyte spin, why disclose leicesters bid but nit the higher "mystery" bid? good to see mr lawwell mock them, its what they deserve. if they were offered that cash they would bite the hands off !

01 Sep 2011 17:12:04
he wanted to leave there is no point keeping a player who doesnt want to stay it makes a bad atmosphere in the dressing room.
what contribution he was only playing coz we had no one else last season

01 Sep 2011 17:07:50
The Meireles issue seems tio have a life of its own. The guy wasn't strong enough to tackle in the middle of the park. Been reading Steve Parker (remember him?) on Twitter (he's radioFOOTBALL and he said that we would come to regret letting Aquilani go as well as RM. Think he means he would prefer AA's creativeness. I agree. We let the right one go and the wrong one too!!

Agree we need a RM, but Aquilani didn't want to be at Liverpool so had to go. Adam Johnson looks like our #1 target for January if we sign anyone, with Cahill a possible depending on how well Skrtel and Coates perform. Sturridge v unlikely. Hazard will never sign for us.

Parker? That no-mark Sun-reading git? Who CARES what he thinks?

ferd

Both where lightweight niether could tackle raul bottled it everytime, he only look good in an open game

The thing is though, how can we miss Aquilani when he hardly ever played? We will feel the benefits of Adam far more than the loss of Aquilani. We may miss having Meireles as an option on the bench, but our first team won't be weakened as Adam will replace him, and we have Henderson as a back up, as opposed to Poulsen as a back up last season. So even though Meireles would have been a nice little luxury, the squad is still considerably improved over last season's team

Red Ollie

Who is Steve Parker?

Adam {Ed009's Note - he used to write "the madness of King Roy the VII" and so on, until he refused to visit the site again. He now posts on Twitter, usually responding to footballers with the exact same: "another exciting insight into the life of a footballer."}

They both wated to leave - end of, get over it - negativity not good in the dressing room

You're having a laugh - Aquilani?
What did he ever do? - Played one good game vs Spurs and had a decent preseason
Give me a break
We were right to get rid of BOTH
End of, lets move on

Rubbish. He scored 5 goals in 6 games half way through the season. What other contribution can anyone think of? He was just a squad player and KK would not have let him go if he rated him.

I dont want to diss the guy as he wasnt awful, but to use terms like 'disgusted' is being a bit over the top if you ask me. If it had been Suarez, Gerrard or Reina, I'd be with you. But Meireles?! Whatever.

I trust Kenny. I suggest you do as well mate. Good times ahead

Red Gart

Miereles was not a world class player. A very good player I'll grant you but not World Class. We probably only have three proper World Class Players - Gerrard, Reina and Suarez. Apart from which he was lazy - going missing for large parts of games, didn't like tackling or being tackled and had a habit of sulking. He had a handful of excelent performances at the fag-end of last season and a good 20 minutes this. Other than that? - not a lot. Lucas, Adam and Henderson were above him in the pecking order and Gerrard would be above him once fit as well. 5th choice is all he was looking at. We've basically broken even on him and we got a bit out of hom when we needed it. RED LENIN

Agree 110% ! Madness!

Sod Meireles, he was injured more than he played, he was a decent player, i'll give u that but if he didnt want to stay then it was right to sell him, remember he played under Villas Boas before at Porto, in time u will see chelsea have done us a favour (again, re Torres) in King Kenny we trust. YNWA

Wake up mate he was weak in the tackle, those he made, no real pace, no versatility if he wasn't playin central he was invisible, lost possesion far too often in dangerous areas, to be quite honest didn't really think much of him, we made money on a 29 year old player who wanted out - good riddance now we have a squad who can really challenge for silverware instead of bemoaning the loss of players like this we need to support those who want to be part of the project he's history get over it!!

With no European football when would he have played, when you look at the midfield setup you would imagine we will have one holding midfielder that will more than likely be Lucas or Spearing so Raul would compete with Adam, Stevie G, Henderson, Downing,Kuyt, Maxi, and now Bellemy so who would you leave out to accommodate Raul.... Please be brief.....

Accept at times Raul put a good shift in but too often not.. watch the tv post christmas or since the goal in the derby and he looked a worldbeater..unfortunately highlights are just that..highlights..great squad player to bring on but this season without european football not so much required

Have to say I disagree with u I think alot of people judging raul on the gunners game where granted he made a difference but they where down to ten men and he had alot of space for me he went missing to much in games and never took the game by the scruff of the neck ala gerrard Suarez or even Lucas to some extent also never fancied a tackle and even picked up the latest injury coz he was trying to get out of the way I think kenny is lookin for players with heart and for me raul lacked this on to many occasions that's my view anyway I don't think he will be missed much cheers

Kopman

Remember no man is bigger than the club my friend plus he did not look happy in the last few games he has played so probably best that he left

MJ

If the guys wanted to leave, which he did, then it would have been wrong for the club to keep him if he is not happy.....as with Aqua......having them around the squad/club with a long face till January or next summer would have done more harm than good to team morale and the general optimism of how the club is being run now......We did not lose any money on him we made albeit a small profit, and hey.......he may turn out to be a disaster like the other 2 that left for the lure of the oil baron's money......No one bigger than the club............NO ONE!!! is'nt that right Nando.....

To be honest he'll be as effective for them as joe cole was for us we offloaded two sulky b*****ds to chelski boo hoo and if the numbers are right took 62 million off them lol

He was 4th choice striker, 4th choice CM, and 18th choice winger! No tackles, no pace, little versatility and no passion for Liverpool. £12m is great money for him IMHO. 8 or 9 decent games last season (mainly due to the rep gained by a few timely goals) means very little.

If you like Raul so much go please support Chavski Rual was 5th un the pecking order for a reason.. a good reason he isn't good enough, didn't offer anything last season but a good 5-7 games and really.. do we need him considering our preformance on Saturday when he didn't play a part..... THINK!

I hate chelsea they keep taking our players.. but im happy now because if he put in a transfer request he wasnt dedicated to our club and no1 is bigger than lfc

Get a Grip on Reality.

Meireless wanted to leave.

You can't keep a player who wants to leave.

He doesn't wont to be at Liverpool no point in trying to keep him against his will. It's him whose made the mistake and have to live with it like FT'

Baz

It's pretty obvious to me that Kenny was happy to keep him at the club. The lad handed in a transfer request! Doesn't that tell you that it wasn't the club's decision. I'd rather sell an unhappy player than keep him. Raul clearly had his head turned by someone at Chelsea, and so the situation became exactly like the one with Torres, where he moaned until he got his way. He wants to play Champions league this season, not next, which is a shame because I fully expect us to qualify for next year's CL, and he could have been a decent squad player. Quite frankly though we could afford to sell him because we're only in 3 competitions this season and don't need as big a squad as the teams in europe do.

Going to be a reserve here especially when SG comes back. Kenny clearly rates Jonjo highly too. He got stuck in last week almost broke his collarbone. His contract was not what he wanted so he would have been a problem. Selling a 28 gonna be 29yo in march for 1 mil profit I can understand it.

He wanted to go, he handed in a written transfer request. you really think its best for Liverpool football club to keep hold of someone who doesn't want to be there - you should have learnt your lesson with T**res - take a chill pill and enjoy the season man..

Football matches are won in the midfield , LUCAS LEIVA - CHARFLIE ADAM - STEVEN GERRARD & JORDAN HENDERSON plus the few young players are all we need in the engine room . Old school brilliance .

1977

Ive got one thought regarding this issue...

One player left us cos he wanted MORE money... One player arrived taking a 50% paycut...
I know which one id rather have right now.. and thats the one that wants to be here!
Good luck Raul.. many have gone before u and none have succeeded.. may you follow in their footsteps whilst we, the Mighty Reds of Liverpool continue to move onwards and upwards..
In Kenny we Trust!
ItsNotRocketScience

Didn't we play him out of position on the left alot last season? Think hes gettin a right pastin on here because of the way he left(which is fair enough). But make no mistake about it, our loss is chelseas gain. Hindsight is a perfect science, so time will tell i suppose, certainly hope im wrong. Sick to the back teeth of chelsea tappin up our players though. DannyoliM

Raul Meireles only effective position is the free role behind the striker, unfortunatley for him he would be at least 3rd in the queue to play that position with Gerrard and Henderson ahead of him not to mention Bellamy. His departure will give Shelvey a chance of some action so its not that much of a loss. January window is less than 4 months away we have a net spend of £45m since last January so I expect a top attacker will come in. But without europa league we will be ok as is, the ironic thing is that Pacheco would have got more of a chance this year but hopefully he gets games at athletico madrid. Dont worry about link up play with Suarez, he can link up with any good player whether that be Gerrard, Kuyt, Maxi, Downing, Bellamy, Adam, Henderson hell even Shelvey has sent him through to score.

He wanted to leave! he gave a transfer request at the end of the last day--good for lfc to say bye then, coz we will reinvest in Jan for a better player! life went without torres, he was not part of the lfc spine( IMO = pepe, carra, lucus, steve, suarez

World class? You must be blind lad, he's a good player, nothing more. He won't be missed that much. Conversely, if we'd kept an unhappy player, that would disrupt the wonderful harmony and team spirit King Kenny has built. Mereiles world class!! Ridiculous.

He wanted to go and that is that! any player who hands in a transfer request must no longer be kept. that is the sensible way and now perhaps jonjo will come more to the fore.
i liked raul, but he did shirk away from the odd tackle, don't get me wrong he is a class player...but he wanted to go and we 'will not' miss him nor aquaman...rest assured future looks very bright!

He'll ebd up a has been , like the spaniard !

We will replace him in jan window

According to a British journalist (Castles for Sunday Times?) who was on Fox Soccer here in States, Meireles did not want to go - he loved it at LFC. He wanted to stay and get the pay raise informally promised to him by previous mgmt if he did well.
New mgmt did not did not give him pay raise and instead put him up for sale beginning of window. I'm not blaming anyone - just reporting what journo said on TV

Raul is a good player, but not a world class player. He was probably going to find it difficult to start in KKs lineup, although he would have been a useful sub.
It is not the club's fault if he hands in his transfer request. It we are able to get Champions League football next year, we have enough time to bring in a replacement, such as Hazard, who will be truly world class.

Still, we can look forward to Spearing and Shelvey show their creative wizardry.. NOT

I'm disgusted. This is the "honeymoon period" and its a no net spend. 30 m off the wages. Net spend is about 2.5 m.
Why do we have to pay£45 a ticket?

Investing just like a Championship team..
Yanks? No thanks! {Ed009's Note - You are quite simply the biggest joke of a supporter I have ever heard speak, if you genuinely are a supporter at all. Grow up. Football is not a video game and people like you will always find room to complain, even when we have the most forward thinking, brave owners this football club could have found. If you want an oil rich, vacuous billionaire sugar daddy you should go and support City. I will stick with a soul over big bucks anyday.}

Lets give kk the benefit of the doubt here,for 1 we dont know if he has someone lined up for the future,or if sturridge is part of the deal,1st refusal and all that,i'm kinda gald he went,good player,but if your heart aint in it,then bye bye !! :)

If RAUL MEIRIELES WAS CALLED DAVID MORGAN, NO ONE WOULD MISS HIM, HE WAS AVERAGE AT BEST, IS HE GOING TO MAKE CHELSEA A BETTER TEAM? NO!

Not world class- but not lazy either. Last season, he covered the most ground in the Liverpool team on average/game. Yes, mosre than Kuyt and Lucas. And he was effective in the final 3rd. I understand why we got rid (poor crossing completion, age, not 1st team) but we have lost a cultured midfielder, who maybe wasnt strong in the tackle, but definitely was disciplined and unlike Gerrard could master the CM role as he knew when to go forward and when to stay back

AZ

Do you know what mate everyone said that about Torres!! Raul put in a transfer request so let him go, yes he was a good player but if someone stuck a good tackle in on him, he went off injured. The king knows what he is doing and who he wants. He has now released funds for his January target and got shut of someone who dont wanna play for us. Look at Bellemy couldn't wait to come back to us thats what we need.
Scally13

Ar u smokin something u shouldnt be?? raul was nowhere a world class player he was an average player who had a good 6 wk period durin last season and apart from that did little else!he got swallowed up 2 many times in the premier league last season and i 4 1 think if the money were supposed have gotten for him is accurate then then we've done well!

Hey Ed(s) any idea who we were after yesterday ? I read somewhere we were after James Milner and Adam Johnson ? Any truth in this Ed ? Cheers mate
IrishRed. {Ed009's Note - There was interest from half the clubs in England in taking on Milner. We were interested in Johnson and I know we made an enquiry. Had Mancini had his way, the player would have left.}

Ed you say if mancini had his way adam johnson would of left man city. surely its upto the manager if he wants the player. so they should of sold him. with silva and others i cant see him playing that much there. we prob get him in january with a bit of look

Any idea why Johnson wasn't allowed to leave Eds? {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Dani Pacheco will sign for Atletico Madrid at the end of the season on a permanent deal, I am 99.99% sure of that.

I think it will depend how well his loan spell there goes and whether Kenny still wants him, and also if he has someone else in Pacheco's position who is better. 2 yrs ago Dani was the next promising young thing but for me he has gone backwards, he hasn't stepped up his game to the next level and has maybe become a little complacent believing the hype that was written about him much like Ryan Babel did. it's a shame, i hope he does well wherever he ends up.

See you dont actually know you only know their has been a agreement put in place and he will be signed if he performs while on loan to la liga so your saying something we all know

That's only if he performs at Atletico and they want to sign him permanently. If he continues to play the way he did for us, he will not be signed.

Firstly I'd like to echo the big well done and thanks to all the Eds for their great work over summer. Some of you may remember that at the end of the first week of the transfer windows I posted a list of who was rumoured to be joining us. The idea was to see if crowdsourcing would work well here. That original post somehow ended up on banter (please put this one on rumours Eds as it is a meta-analysis of rumours). I also said I'd post an update showing how accurate or otherwise it was when the window shut.

Of those who actually signed Adam was second most predicted with 39 posts, Enrique was 6th with 22, Downing 7th with 21 (all these were above my cut off of having more posts than Aguero (9th with 20posts)).

Marvaux who nearly joined us was 4th with 28.

None of the other signings - Henderson, Doni, Coates or Bellamy got any votes.

So all in all 3 out of 7 of the actual summer signings were heavily predicted. And of the 8 highly ranked predictions 3 of them came true. If you allow for how close Marvaux came to joining I think it is fair to say that even in the first week of the window this site had a 50% success rate in getting the incoming transfers right.

So I extend the thanks to all those who post sensible rumours. I for one am looking forwards to next summer on here when we'll have Champions League football to offer potential new players.

Bob

Wish I had that much time on my hands

Could you repost the whole list if possible?

You should enjoy this season first m8 it's going to be a great one, when the summer comes think about new signings, we might be looking to recruit new players to join the new champions ;)

Bob

Bob, the other really interesting thing would be to analyse all the 'signed' posts in the last 2 weeks, including people like Mr Yellow and Big J, who said we were interested in players like Soldado, etc.
(It may be true and we simply never got to find out about the club's interest, of course)

If the Eds can let us know whether LFC really did inquire about these players, we'll have a good idea which posters we can trust next window.

There's nothing to stop blaggers from just using a new name of course, although the Eds could maybe indicate underneath the new names if they spot that someone posted previously under a different nickname?

As far as I can see the only person whose info is consistently reliable is Macca- as its been since I first looked at the site a year ago.

Hi Ed(s) / Macca
Great work and info over the transfer window lads. I think we all owe you guys a pint or two!
I see Amoo and Eccleston are still around. Are you aware of any future plans for these two and, do you expect Aquaman and Joe Cole loans to become permanent?
After being at Anfield last Saturday and seeing what KK/DC have done with the fantastic support of great owners in this window, the future is very bright and I for one can't wait to see this team start putting the club back where it belongs!
The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed002's Note - Amoo will leave at some point; Eccleston I am not sure of; Aquilani's move will become permanent; Cole's will not.}

Good afternoon Ed, I posted last week that I had been told that we were looking at Nolan Roux, obviously this didn't happen but I did hear that someone had made a late bid for him could it have been us? Only curious because if it was us then maybe the lad that told me could actually have good info. Worth knowing.

Chris in Tamworth

We did have an offer for Roux rejected.

Mr Yellow

LFC HAVE 1st refusal on Sturridge (as part of Miereles deal). Got that from a very very good source. Stuart, ex Chelsea kit man.
Geordie Red {Ed002's Note - Nope, not true.}

Is his name just "Stewart"

Matt Wollacott

They just won't let it drop! For weeks people kept posting that we were going to sign Sturridge and I kept posting back that we weren't.Now the window's closed I'm dreading weeks and months of posts about our first [ non-existant ] refusal for him.

'ex' is the operative word here. i doubt the current kit man would know of such arrangements.

01 Sep 2011 13:04:20
I never posted a single rumour on here but I got correct masses of "NO WE WON'T SIGN HIM'S"! I was really glad to tell all the dopes who leaked the signing of Doyle from Wolves that they were insane.And that included the loonie who had 2 helicopters flying from the Irish training ground to Melwood to deliver Doyle for a £10 million fee!

01 Sep 2011 12:41:03
Any crack on Gary Cahill, ed002 ?
Did Bolton just price him out of any potential moves ?
Thnx
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - They asked Spurs for Defoe and Spurs were not willing.}

Which may, in turn, have influenced Ngog's move there...hmm, interesting.
Thanks for your valuable time ed.

01 Sep 2011 12:35:40
1 more question, Ed!
Have we signed Marco Bueno?

SRK {Ed002's Note - I don't know if he hs actually been signed but he has had his trial. He would not arrive until he is 18.}

01 Sep 2011 12:26:24
Hi Ed,
Just wanna know if we were pursuing Dann and Ruiz on deadline day
Surely would have loved Ruiz joining instead of Bellamy!

SRK {Ed002's Note - No, I don't think so.}

Ruiz is on probation at Fulham. If he can adapt well to the rigors of the premiership at the cottage, we'd still go for him. I am sure.

01 Sep 2011 12:14:30
degen released woohoo another gone

01 Sep 2011 12:11:05
Hey eds great work throughout that window your fingers must be sore haha anyway one of the rss said that we were talking to or enquired about 4 players yesterday any idea who they were? Thanks eds

KopEndDannyLFC {Ed002's Note - No, sorry.}

Idiots with a short memory. if the owners read this site. thanks very much for everything you have done so far, much appreciated. wat a hole we were in and looked doomed. looks like in the long run we will be right up there on a regular basis.

01 Sep 2011 12:07:37
cant beleive people are moaning about the owners
saying they have not spent much. because of the money we going to save from players wages that we got rid of. they needed to go and look at the players we got and got rid of.

and what would people rather have. the old americans or the new ones you choice

i know who i go for
if we had the other clowns we have or been very close to get relegated and also gerrard and others would not of stayed

so to the people moaning about not spending much we have so shut up and get behind the team
they are doing what they have said
{Ed002's Note - People are forgetting the owners have also paid off many of the players leaving and paid a further 5M euro as the final payment on Aquilani. I don't think anyone should be complaining about them.}

Giv me bill kenright any day

Who told them to get rid of Aqua and pay the extra 5M. Should we cheer them for that? {Ed002's Note - Aquilani wanted to leave and the club were contractually obliged to pay Roma the money owed on the player. You think the club should have just not paid up?}

01 Sep 2011 12:05:01
hi eds all reds do you think the buisness we have done with lille and bolton , could leave us in pole posistion for hazard and cahill come january? just thinking we may have left cahill until then , and we have long standing interest in hazard . i wouldve liked another wide player to come in , maybe affelly, but other than that i think we have had a great summer! thanks to all you eds for all your ard work through the window , great job , great site, come on redmen! steviep48 {Ed002's Note - Bolton will be looking to sell Cahill in January and I suspect several clubs will be interested. I guess any interest from Liverpool will depend on how the season is going. I have had it confirmed that there is no agreement in place for options on Hazard at all, and it is pretty certain he will not be moving to Liverpool. Expect a move to Spain or possibly Italy next summer.}

Hmm, this Summer was "gonna be a biggie". Just like Hicks said the previous year.
Last time Torres was the scapegoat. Now its Raul.
Bulls**t!
Message to the Yonks. Sell us a stake, or sell us to someone who aint part of the "sell to buy brandbuilding brigade".

01 Sep 2011 11:53:22
Hey Eds, great job this window, thanks for all your efforts. In regards to moussa sissoko, are you suprised he didnt leave toulouse for us, roma or any other club for that matter? And do you think we'll be in for him in the winter window to replace meireles and aqua?

Thanks once again
Amz {Ed002's Note - I cannot say what is going to happen in January. I am not surprised he did not move to Roma.}

01 Sep 2011 11:47:45
I think in jan we will only be spending money on one player , and that is a LM for cover for downing , there has also been talk that we get first call on hazard next summer after we loaned cole to lile... {Ed002's Note - There is no deal over Hazard.}

01 Sep 2011 11:46:02
Joe Cole's move to Lille will cost Liverpool more than £3m, after the Premier League club agreed to pay 60% of his wages in exchange for a first refusal option on the Belgium midfielder Eden Hazard.
FatRed {Ed002's Note - There is no first refusal on Hazard.}

FatHead more like. Your facts are totally wrong.

Can you enlighten us as to the facts then?
I understood he was on 90K and we are still to pay 60K which is actually 66%. Sounds a bit strange to me as I thought other clubs were prepared to pay a bigger percentage of his wages.
CL {Ed001's Note - because his wages included a percentage of his signing fee spread over the course of his contract it has skewed the figures slightly. His actual wages, without that bonus included, were around 70-75k a week, so between 15 and 20k have to be removed from the equation. So we are paying between 40 and 45k a week of his wages.}

Are you sure ed? Id rather wait and see what Macca says about it {Ed002's Note - I am sure.}

01 Sep 2011 11:45:54
Morning Ed's, what a dramatic final day of the transfer window, what happened to all these players that people reported being spoted outside Melwood? I guess Bellamy must have chased them all off with his golf club!
But seriously i think we made some great signings this window, my question is what is the current situation with Marco Bueno and the other youngsters we were linked with?
Can they sign later if they are signing their first pro contract.

Red Dragon {Ed002's Note - They can sign at anytime but cannot arrive from abroad until they are 18.}

01 Sep 2011 11:27:25
Hi guys

Just like to say great job by Commolli.
Nice to know that he convinced the owners to buy first and sell later on in the window. The owners played their part by gambling on Commolli and his way, which paid off.

7 in and 24 out but we got our strongest team in the last 20 years.

I am so glad that Kenny has got a great "SQUAD".

After a long time Liverpool finally look like a team to challenge.

My thought on this current team is that this will be a great team, a team that will definitely bring back the passion.

To all the Ed's, you guy's were "Fantastic and Awesome".
Your knowledge and patience is truely valued. Your time you dedicate to this site is much appreciated.

Brilliant site, keep up the good work and hope the site has a long life.

To Macca, keep on posting. You are a very creditable contributor to this site(the best in my opinion).

Here's to wishing our team all the best "Mission 19"

YNWA-SA

Well said!

Agree for the most part, but of course Bijev was both an 'in' and an 'out'!

I feel good about the squad now...
as suppose a year ago when the bench did not look that good...
good players that want to fight for thier position... im breathing fresh air again

You forgot Degen!

Villyan Bijev came in yesterday

Villyan bijev has been brought by us!

Are all those Commolli haters going to come out and hold their hands up and say we were talking rubbish!

Great job by DC!

You got it wrong with the Bijev as an 'out' though - we bought him IN but he couldnt get a work permit, so had to loan him into a European team until he can get one. doesnt count as getting someone off the wage bil, as he was never on it.

We got rid of irwin aswell

What nit pickers?

The first poster was very credible in their efforts!

Very good post, well said mate

Net spend ( wages+transfer fees) of 2.7m in the end - acc to various forums and Rory Smith the journalist.

Hicks and Gilette bought early on -Nando, keane, masch, THEN started selling.

NESV just buy then sell at the same time.

Looks like Hicks and Gilette Mark 2.
Cant they just kill baseball instead?
XXXXards!

Hi

Sorry about omitting Degen and including Bijev as an out. Sincere apologies.

Hopefully we can now all support our club, owners, manager, director of football and one another.

Remember this team is "OUR TEAM".
It's built for us the fans, support them and the sky is the limit.

Remember this saying "Reap what you sow".

My advice to the fans
You must know and remember your players,
Love the players and club, irrespective,
Have complete faith in the players and club,
and only then will they become all that you hope for.

How the hell is this fair?
We sell Meireles on deadline day for £12m, a peanuts profit of 500k, when he was clearly a £20m player at the end of last season considering Modric is worth £40m.
But no when it's us who want to buy, we had to pay over the odds for Andy at £35m. (I know it's irrelevant because of the £15m Torres profit before you all start complaining). Still, principally applies.

Riddle me this, we have to compromise to selling Aquilani for a measly £6-7m for an Italian international! A LOSS of at least £10m!
But when we want to buy Henderson - hell no, we have to pay an inflated £16m.

Now I bet you're arguing that they "were desperate to leave". Was Fabregas desperate to leave? Yes! Did Arsenal get ripped off? I think the £35m (or whatever it was) begs to differ. Barcelona were prepared to pay an astronomical for a kid they let slip through their fingers. But us? We don't seem to have any negotiating, bartering, haggling skills.

So if Meireles wanted to leave so bad, why didn't he say something last month so we could sell him at a fair price, instead of once again making a mockery of ourselves in the transfer market. £12m for Meireles is a joke.

Having said this, at least we have effectively been paid £1m for Bellamy due to previous profit, and now ending up with us for nothing - so it's not all doom and gloom.
Yes, the £50m for Torres was lovely, but it is irrelevant by the cost of Andy. Don't get me wrong, I love the lad and think he will do amazing for us.

On the flipside, I cant criticise deals for Enrique (6m) and Coates (7m). Brilliant business - why cant we have more like this! And we shipped out a tonne of crap yesterday too, a weight off my shoulders I can tell you now! But why the hell did we get them in the first place?

I dont know..
Jacob red.

Cardiac Unit on standby!

Ahh quit moaning and enjoy the football ffs. It's going to be a great season.

cozinoz

Lets put this into perspective: We reportedly paid 11.7m for him and the fee was undisclosed. With the saving on his wages we will still return a profit and get rid of a player that doesn't want to play for us. He was made promises by the old regime that FSG have rejected and rightly so. I for one thought he was a hit and miss player that went missing in tackles so not committed. - LFCSOUTH

We shipped out 24 players and brought in 7 am sure the books are balenced

Jacob i understand your frustration but i don't think you fully understand the transfer market. Merieles was promiseda significant wage hike this season, lfc did not want to honour this, in light of the fact merieles will struggle for a starting place and that he is 29 this year a return of 12 miliion is impressive. You can't compare to afbregas who is in his early 20's with a high reasle value. Henderson likewise has a high resale value. Trust in king kenny and Commoli they know when itsa good deal.

One word. Choice.

We chose to pay the prices and accept the fees. It's got nothing to do with fairness.

I partly agree with you on the Meireles fee. We should have held out for £20M or have Sturridge thrown in.

However, how much is team spirit and harmony worth? There'll be no boat rocking now and if that makes the difference between CL qualification and not, then the £12M was a deal well done.

Look he didn't want to be there , kenny's idea is to rebuild from the dressing room have a great atmosphere in there and with hard work you will win if you watch now liverpool players laugh and have fun with each other. i think merielles was the exeption to this rule i believe he was a sulky never happy footballer so for that reason kenny and damion got rid in the future they will sell under thier rules i am sure ......in kenny we trust just watch!!

Like you say Enrique and Coates great deals and Adam should mentioned in there too.
Henderson is part of British premium pricing which we already know
Andy Carroll for 35 million was in many ways about the owners showing the fans, they are prepared to spend money, they are backing the new manager. We just sold Torres in the eleventh hour, had been playing like a bag o sh*te through the first half of our new owners tenure on the back of being treated like sh*te by H & G.
This was the first opportunity the FSG had to prove intent to us the fans and they had a small window of time to do it in and they did at a cost. Personally I don't think we know what value a 24 year old Andy Carroll will have so it still remains to be seen if we over-paid or not.
As far as Raul was concerned I think we got fair value considering the situation, Chelsea have paid us 70 million plus for a 1 goal striker and two squad players in the last 8 months.
This transfer window has been the best we have seen for our club in years, quit moaning and thank your lucky stars for FSG and KK

SamuiLFC

Stop moaning mate. We have a great squad now. The board seem to know what they are doing with the money side. Let them deal with all the finacial side and all the fans can just get behind the players and support the team. Good times ahead

Dont worry about meireles going,we dont want him after he pretended to be hurt against exeter,we want players who dont give up on the pitch.

Jacob listen i agree 100% with everything you just said.. all the other fans dont understand. i dont like getting ripd off and everytime liverpool does and the other fans laugh at us.. we did so well in this transfer market besides the meriles deal. we was contenders for the prm title if we still had him i believe

If i am correct nearly ALL the games Meireles started he never finished due to 'injury' or a 'knock' etc. he has skill but he is toooooooo lightweight for premiership.. I think Chelski got another Torres kinda deal.. :)

What's all this nonsense about getting ripped
off! We got our money back on a 29yr old that wouldn't be a regular starter and didn't want to play for us! As for getting ripped off in the market when were buying WTF Would you sooner we ended up like Arsenal and Spurs and scrambling on the last day! Who's dealings have been better in this Window? Arsenal, Spurs or Liverpool? No contest is it?
kidmillions

While I do see your point mate, put it in perspective Jacob: We got £12 million for a fringe player / impact sub player at best. The bitters got £10 million for their first choice BEST player.

I agree with your post - we are getting better at the haggling/holding out - much better than we were under the last regime - but others do it better!

I don't understand why people get so anxious about the number of fringe players anyway, why is it a weight of our shoulders? Unless you are personally paying their wages the who cares. Too much focus on the transfer fees/wages and not enough on the actual football IMO.

Calm down calm down,this was good business it dont matter how much we all think he was worth he is only worth what a club are prepared to pay & only chelski would pay for him,lets move on to what could be a great beginning for our club.ynwa

Wow, split opinions here.
Whilst I agree that firstly I blew this out of the water and over-reacted, and as mentioned, like a lot of you, I don't really know anything about how transfers work, but on face value it appears that we are constantly on the end of a bad deal.

No, I don't wish the club to be scrapping around for pennies like Arsenal and Tottenham, but I sympathise with Wenger in that there is no point paying ridiculously over the top for an average player, which is why he was hesitant to buy because everyone slaps a huge price tag on their players, even ones they dont want or need....except for us.

I agree now that yes, we got the necessary players in and it's not my responsibility to worry about finances, but I dont want LFC to (though not to the same extent you understand), be like Man city and pay any price for any player they so desire, because it looks bad, like we are just buying success. Before you start complaining, no we wont sink that low, but how different are we from them? We've spent a lot of money, yet they get accused of 'buying success', but with respect, because it's Dalglish it's okay? The man is a legend and I would never question his logic, I back the players every game but look how much we have changed the squad since Henry took over. Just think about it.

I'd appreciate in future that you wouldn't be so derogative with your responses, it is simply an opinion, and there is no need to be so rude. I respect all of your opinions, the least you could do is respect mine, or at least pretend to.

Yes, Meireles was unhappy (and I was wrong to compare him to Fabregas), but I still feel we could have and perhaps should have got more than £12m. There is little point in drawing the Torres saga into this, since that deal was effectively £15m + Carroll, irrespective of what either player officially cost. The £50m bears no weight in this conversation. Even though his heart wasn't in the club, for a Portugese international, we paid £11.5m for him in his last year of his previous contract. Having said this, I accept your point on clauses that new owners didn't accept, but my point was that it still looks bad when you can only make a negligible profit of 500k. I agree that we should sell unhappy players, but if a price couldn't be sorted, why can't we just loan him out until next year and then negotiate a deal earlier in the window? I maintain my stance that £12m is a joke for Meireles, whether you like it or not. Meireles goes with my best wishes, I'm not sour about the player, I'm sour about the price.

I do trust Kenny and Comoli, do not question that! I've supported Andy and Jordan through most of you supporters criticisms, perhaps what I didn't make so clear before but will now is that, I think these players are worth their price tags because they will be amazing players, and in proportion to the Raul and Alberto deals, we were sold short in my opinion. But what do I really know?

And as a last point, Adam was also a fantastic bargain signing - thank you to the person who pointed that out.

If you can actually give me a point that completely destroys mine, I will be the first to hold my hands up, accept it, and shake your hand. But please stop with this unnecessary criticism, we all support the same club, but you wouldn't think so by looks of some people posts.

Jacob red.

Totally agree, LFC should have asked at the very least £15 mill for Raul,we are a laughing stock in the transfer market,pay well over the odds for players and let players go for next to nothing. I must say the Raul transfer has took the whole shine off what we have done so far o and off the pitch

Settle down lad and take a deep breath. You mention the fact that Arsenal were not ripped off when they sold Fabregas. It may have slipped your attention but the original asking price was quoted as £50million. Even if that figure was £45million, Arsenal have been screwed to the tune of £10million by Barcelona's waiting game and by the player's insistence on leaving.

Incidentally, while I too was disappointed by the Meireles departure, let's temper it with the fact that we got £12million for him while poor old Bill Kenwright lost a superior player (Arteta) for £2million less than that. I'm 100% positive that KK will do everything in his power to bring the good times back - and he'll do it with players who want to play for LFC and who will wear the shirt with pride.

Well said jacob red,everything is down to cost,loan deal i dont think would work because after a year he is nearly 30 & loans only work when it suits both parties,how much do you think then raul would be worth next year more or less what chelski paid now.

Meireles was a victim of circumstances - the change in ownership and manager. He didn't fit Kenny's vision.
To get all your money back for a player who isn't wanted is, in general, a very good/lucky outcome in the football world. The majority of the time it ends like Aquilani saga - you take a bath.

Hey jacob,not getting at yer mate,but the man wanted out,you could tell by his attitude,the game against exeter,and his reaction to the physio's who came on to treat him,also his reaction to the goal he laid on for suarez,watch it,lucas asks him whats the matter as he's havin a rant,haha

Good points, but I feel the £50m original price tag for Fabregas was more to warn off Barcelona, not an actual valuation. My personal opinion on that is I dont think Arsenal ever expected to get £50m, but it was to drive up the eventual price and they expected Barcelona to haggle over the price tag (considering they let him go for free). Simply negotiating technique. It gives them a safe net to fall on, they probably had £35m in mind they would settle for, but they wouldnt let them know that, or else Barcelona would try and get him for less. By starting high, it gives more chance of landing a deal in their maximum price range, than your minimum price range, but it runs the risk of scaring them away.

As for Arteta, I fully accept this and it's a fantastic point. Their best player was sold for less than our dispensable one. But they are in a financial crisis, we are not, and if we can get a player for a better price, we should be trying to. But in fairness, there isn't an awful lot than can be done on the deadline, so this should have been done earlier.

Where some clubs benefit from selling their players late by gaining an inflated price, it's almost as if we are pressured into selling and compromise. Would Newcastle have received £35m for Carroll at the start of the window? Never. But vice versa, if Carroll was our player and a club came in for him on the final day, how much do you think we would get for him? Just begs the question, doesn't it?

I'm sorry to come across very vented, but some people on here do not have any respect for other people's opinions. I'll try to calm down now ;)

Hi Eds & Reds,

Absolutley delighted with the business conducted in the transfer window, well done dc & KK !

i have 3 quick questions

1) Who of the young lads under 21 do you expext to be named in 25 man squad if any? and

2) Do ye think the likes of Flanno, Robbo,Kelly and Shelvey will get a lower squad number? I think Lucas should get no.4.

3)is Spearing included as an u 21 ?

Rebel_Red {Ed002's Note - (1) None will be. (2) I really don't know anything about shirt numbers. (3) No.}

That's it ED002 nail your colours to the mast!

If only more ED's were like you.

None will be because you don't have to register under 21 players in a squad, only over 21 players.
Bit of a trick question.

Seven players in and twenty four out (one was in/out - loan).
Massive reduction in wage bill.
Squad strengthend and players not upto the grade no longer on our books.
Lots of great potential coming through the youth ranks.
Great owners and great mangement with The King and DC.
Stadium new or mod to Anfield on the horizon. The future looks very good. Now wonder all those loosers from other teams are worried and coming onto our site to make up stories

01 Sep 2011 11:08:02
Just had a look at our ˜Ins and Outs' since January and the Owners technically will not have spent any money!

We have received £82M and spent £112M so worse off by about 30 Million HOWEVER our Wage Budget has reduced by £30 Million a Year (Quoted by Rory Smith “ Telegraph) so in actual fact over the next year we will not have even spent a penny!

Don't get me wrong, I like the new owners however it just show you what good ˜Housekeeping' can do for you and also good Communication/PR with the Fans.
Most Fan's think they are generous and great BUT so far their financial commitment is extremely minimal.

Bit of a ˜Keyser Soze' Trick!

Spurs are the interesting ones though.
Normally they are big spenders however this year.

Sold:

Robbie Keane 3.5
Alan Hutton 4.0
Peter Crouch 10
Wilson Palicious 8

And only spent

Scott Parker 5m

They will be lucky to get in the Top 7 and by this time next year both Bale and Modric will be long gone!!

Lets not forget the aquasition of adebayor, even if it is on loan......they will challange for top4 IMO

No they won't. Adebayor will be kicking off the first time he's benched. He doesn't want to be there but had to settle for Spurs because nobody else wanted him. 7th or 6th is as good as it gets for them.

Thats arry for you, he brings a recking ball with him where ever he goes

Thats all very well but you have not included the wages we are paying all the new playersb we have bought so your way off the actual amount spent!

So who will we be signing in Jan and summer ?

Here's my shortlist of possibles....

Defence

Gary Cahill - pre contract in Jan or reduced fee for sale. Skrtel to be sold in Jan or summer for more than we pay for GC.

Central Midfield

Moussa Sissoko - The Toulouse midfielder has been well scouted and would give the midfield real presence.

James McCarthy - a KD favourite and a possible target but only for c £8-10m.

Attacking Midfield

Iker Muniain - On the club's radar for a long time and LFC might have to move quickly to beat other top European clubs to get him. A potential superstar and likely to cost at least £25m.

Eden Hazard - Another hot property and LFC have a relationship now with Lille. If we have a great season and make CL there's a chance but Chelsea/ Arsenal may be more likely. £25m +

Adam Johnson - Another player we've tracked from his earliest days. If he's a bit part player at City he's a possible but would cost c £20m.

Striker

Steven Jovetic - Another player we've tracked for a while. More of a creator than a goalscorer but a versatile attacker. The Montenegro international would cost more than £20m.

Wilfried Zaha - The Crystal Palace striker is young and raw but looks a good prospect. Has been scouted heavily and plays for Eng U19s alongside the likes of Flanagan, Robinson and Coady. {Ed009's Note - I think that in Sissoko you have highlighted one of the clubs primary targets, and the most likely replacement for Meireles, as we will need more centre mid's when in Europe.}

Cant sign a pre-contract with Cahill. They arent allowed for domestic transfers.

Whelk

Cahill can't sign a pre-contract with a domestic club in jan only a foreign team. If he's to sign on a free for us it'll have to be next summer after he runs down his contract

He will join arsenal next summer

What im most looking forward to now is a big game with stoke on the 10th. And everyone could be fit and ready to go!1

We will do well to beat Stoke...they have a strong defence and they strengthened their midfield and attack yesterday by adding Palacios, Crouchy and Jerome...

01 Sep 2011 10:37:23
most people will think im crazy but i think cahill will go to either madrid or barca in a pre season contract agreement, he has previously been linked with barca, watch the space

Don't be silly.

You may think am crazy,but i think he is in Kennys next transfers plan for jan.
Owen needs to get somthing for him but first he needs points on the board to keep Bolton up and him in a job,but come jan he will be sold and with Carra's age and Skrtle becoming 3rd choich.Ican see a cash plus player swap on the cards.

Stranger things have happened. Julien Faubert to Real Madrid anyone...

I am one of most people

Yep you're crazy! Feel better now?

You shouldnt drink this early in the morning ;)

01 Sep 2011 10:35:09
I was gutted to see meireles go but i think there must of been reason for liverpool to get rid of there 2 midfielders wiv flair and not replace them. the only solution i can think of is that now kenny hopefully thinks suso is ready to push into the first team, as the lad has plenty of flair and ability. Even Aldridge said at the end of last season he though suso was ready to make that step up. i dnt expect him in the squad straight away but i hope he breaks in, in the next few weeks. shelvey is no where in the same league as suso i jus dnt get how he hasnt got a call up yet

01 Sep 2011 10:32:50
great work by Kenny and Comoli with ins and out . 2 questions for eds please:

1 Why is Brad jones still on out books after Doni came in ?

2, I know its early, but do you think Liverpool with buy in January, and if so what positions and which players in " your opinion " ?

Thanks
Raks {Ed002's Note - (1) Jones will be leaving at some point soon. (2) I really don't know.}

I think we will possibly sign a RM and a back-up DM. Just my opinion though.

01 Sep 2011 10:27:05
There clearly seems to be mixed feelings on the meireles saga but I am definitely not concerned about his leaving. He was so weak in the tackle it was painful and we can't afford any passengers. He would not have figured regularly and we got decent money considering his value was only ever going down. We have gerrard, lucas, adam, henderson, shelvey, spearing, coady who could all feature in this position and I seem to recall KK using aurelio there last season also when we were short so no worries for cover. The next task for central midfield is the long term replacement for gerrard, probably sissoko.

Cheers
Greggers

Well spotted there Greggers. I believe that Kenny saw some of his futile efforts in the tackle and decided that if this is how this guy "fights" for an improvement in his contract, we should move him on. I also think Kenny didnt see him in his long term vision for the team. I believe Kenny is already looking a couple of years into the future and as A. Ferguson said it will take Kenny 2 years to put us back where we should be and challenging for the major honours. Regards.

I think you'll find Henderson will be the long term replacement for Gerrard. His preferred position is central midfield, I would think KK n DC will be looking at a right winger in future and then move Henderson inside.

Very true, also we have 5 centre backs now so if needed Agger could always come into midfield and play in Lucas's role.

Here we go again more (persons) with the stupidity of finding a Gerrard replacement.

Gerrard aint going anywhere for at least 4 years it's a bit too soon for a replacement as the replacement will get tired on the bench.

Your naivity is quite astounding. There is no suggestion that gerrard will be bombed out, but if you think we will see the same player over the next four years that carried this team through his mid twenties then think you are in for a shock. There will be a place for gerrard but the lung bursting all power performances to continue forever, I don't think so. Maybe I should have written the next person would be to fill the role gerrard has done through much of his career at liverpool to date. God its like saying we didnt need a replacement for barnes on the left wing cos he was still playing in the side in centre mid.

Cheers
Greggers

Hi Eds
Regarding Cahill is he a free agent from January or cold Bolton still sell him and from when is allowed to speak to other clubs .

Thanks
Zorro {Ed002's Note - Bolton can still sell him in January and he is able to sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs as well.}

01 Sep 2011 10:23:05
Hi Eds, we paid 11.5m for Raul when he had one year left on his contract. Roy made some comment that we got him for a good price because of this. So how can anyone be thinking that selling him to Chelsea for only 12m is a good deal? He is now proven in the Premier League which he wasn't a year ago so surely he is worth at least 15m? It appears that we sign players late in the window and get totally ripped off i.e. Andy Carroll but when other clubs sign players from us they get a bargain. Financially we must be very well off to be able to pay over the odds for players and continue to sell on the cheap. DeddyRed {Ed002's Note - He wanted to leave.}

Im sorry but mr ed002 that comment is a big vague........he wanted to leave....so what! your under contract for a few yrs...so if cfc want him...pay well over 11m..thats how it should be done......
modric didnt go cos they said..u aint goin nowhere!.. and then knowing that the window is shut..he wud just knuckle down and play..
so this post is totally right...we sell so easily to rivals and pay over the price for players...simple..facts! {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of the Modric situation, but if you think it helps morale to have a PO player in the dressing room because he is being forced to stay then I am afraid you are wrong.}

It's worth remembering that because he put in a transfer request, he has waived the right to any loyalty bonuses etc. that we'd have to have settled if we just sold him. That's probably saved us a few quid.

What are you on? no desire to play for the team and who said it was 12m anyway.They said it was 20m for Henderson and Downing I know DC denied one of the prices and come jan when some of the top players are out of CL we will have money to spend then.

You say he is Prem League proven? what has he proved? that he has good ability when it comes to vollying but how many tackles did he pull out of and how easily did he get knocked off the ball? He is far too weak for the prem and just look at this way...Chelsea have just signed a player that sits on our bench?? What does that tell you about how far we have come in 6 months.

Sorry how do we get ripped off?? Do you not remember a certain 50mil coming from chelsea to us for Torres? They could have both Torres and Meireles for 50mil if they want, you don't need disruptive people in the dressing room. And Ed002 is the only one on here who keeps you whingers in their place so keep it up Ed!

Aussie in London

I must admit that, although the squad is looking leaner and meaner, the Meireles departure has left a slightly sour taste in my mouth. But I don't think his head had been right since pre-season, due to the contract/money business. I get the impression for some reason that he's a bit of a moody chap. If he hands in a transfer request 29 mins before the deadline, that tells its own story. Kenny wouldn't have sanctioned the sale without good reason. Hope he enjoys the soulless life at Chelski with that other moody chap we sold, forget his name now......
JHiggs

Modric also wanted to leave but Levy stuck to his guns. I was happy with the dealings this transfer window but Mereiles leaving has put a real dampner on things, we will miss that 'abroad' flair, yes we have it Suarez but not really in midflied, him and Lucas were our best players last year. If we wanted to sell him surely we should've got a replacement, anyway i hope Suso gets a run in cos the lad can fill Mereiles boots but he's still young!

In economic terms, the asset depreciates for each year of the contract. We bought the player for 11.5m on a four year contract, and each year the players asset value depreciates by 2.875m, until it reaches zero at the end of his contract.

From this deal, we made a profit of about 3.1m by selling an unsettled squad player. How much would we have got next year? Or in two years time? Especially as he will be the wrong side of 30 very soon?

This is good business. It does leave the centre midfield a bit light in experience and quality, but I feel he would be likely have been replaced next summer anyway. He was good going forwards, but offered little in defence, and questions marks remain about his determination and suitability to the premier league. I wish him well, but cant see him playing for Chelsea too often either.

Whelk

Wait and see the effect Modric will have on spurs now though. If Merieles didnt want to be here then good luck

Totally and utterly agree

It was more than "not wanting to be here". He felt let down because there was informal arrangement from previous administration that there would be a pay hike if he did well - this never happened.
I don't blame anyone. He was brought in by a different group of people, and sometimes everyone needs to move on.

01 Sep 2011 10:16:27
Could it still be possible to bring someone in on loan? Although I wouldn't see the point

No. the only clubs that can bring in players on loan now are lower league clubs from the Premier League, and they can only do this from, I think, the 1st of October

Why is that? Is it because only youth players are expected to go out on loan at that point so it won't affect the premier league squads? Seems odd to do it so long after the transfer window closes

Fairly certain its until the 1st Oct rather than from it.

to ed(s) do you know whether we have accepted Royston Drenthe for 9m? {Ed002's Note - If you are an Everton supporter, yes.}

HAHA!

Hilarious.

Jesus mate wake up will you! Drenthe joined Everton on a season's loan yesterday!

01 Sep 2011 10:03:54
when a player is loaned,are you able to call him back to the club for a fee incase you require their services later on in the season.I only ask because with mierles now gone, we look a little light in midfield, would we be able to call back say aqualani if we suffered a few injuries in the midfield department?Its weird how we have gone from having a ridiculously larger midfield to only having,in my opinion,gerrard,henderson,lucas and adam, maybe maxi, who are of the TOP quality needed to be first team material. Spearing and shelvey should have both gone out on loan and we should have done everything in our powers to either keep mierles and aqualani or bring in a TOP quality flair midfielder, in the mould of da silva,fabregas,nasri. I seriously think this is one area that KD and CC will be looking to add to come january.I personally think that we also need a RW who can play either flank,someone of downings quality on either flank would give the team ridiculous width and creativity.All in all a very good transfer window with only the slight disappointment of mierles leaving to chavski in the last minute. Bravo eds,and if you could find the time to answer my question about loans it would be kindly recieved.

much respect,
The clown {Ed002's Note - It depends on the terms of the loan agreement.}

Do you know if any of the deals with cole and aqualani had any such agreements written into their loan deals?

the clown {Ed002's Note - Aquilani's no. I don't know about Cole's.}

01 Sep 2011 10:00:03
Hey Eds, I know your busy but if you can't answer, can anyone else answer if there is any truth to us having first refusal on Eden Hazard next season? {Ed002's Note - None at all.}

01 Sep 2011 09:58:34
I think we've done some great business over the summer. I'm confident the team can kick on now and the players we've brought in will, hopefully, provide some silverware this season. We've shifted an unbelievable amount off the wage bill and with the sale of Meireles brining in 12million the business side to the club is looking really sharp. I feel we'll sign some great players next summer and if we can finish in the top four or higher and gain Champions League status, the quality of player we bring in will be even greater.

I've no doubt that we'll sign Gary Cahill in January - Bolton will not want to lose him for nothing in the summer and I feel an agreement was made on this subject when Ngogg joined Bolton...hence Spurs failing in a bid for Cahill.

Bellamy is a great signing...very quick, can score goals and create them too.

Well done KK and DC...for once I'm looking forward to great things this season.

Jonny Boy.

What about Bellamy's crocked knees?

Is Kenny now an orthopedic surgeon with
extraordinary powers of healing?

How many Games wil Bellamy realistically play?

Shane long for 7 Million would have been money well spent Bellamy for free and high wages is a bad signing?

Take it your not a Liverpool fan. As a short term option it's a great signing. As I said - with a successful season in tow we'll sign true quality next summer and move on a few more players.

Why do some of the so called fans "Take-it" your not a liverpool fan when obviously from the comments made I could be nothing else.

Shano has a future, Bellamy's is over!

Who offers better value with more potential, maybe that too complicated for you?

01 Sep 2011 09:55:57
I don't believe the squad has been weakened by selling the injured Meireles. Look at our business this transfer window. In- henderson, adam, downing, coates, bellamy, enrique. Out- meireles, poulson, pacheco, insua, kyrgiakos, n'gog, degen, cole. Brilliant window for us in my opinion

And Jovanovic!!

01 Sep 2011 09:51:20
Danny Wilson was Rafa's signing , no?

Was linked when Rafa was here, signed with Hodgson in charge I believe... A signing championed by Kenny Dalglish.

RedSG

Danny Wilson was Recommended by Kenny and signed by Roy.

Danny will be a good player but not for Liverpool, and he is certainly no left back?

01 Sep 2011 09:38:16
is it true we went for a johnson, and if so, do you think he will be a target in jan?

01 Sep 2011 09:20:33
Hey Ed,
I see we had a late bid rejected for Jelavic. I remember you saying we were looking at 4 players from 4 different clubs and all played in the same position. Do you know who they are?

Cheers KiwiRed {Ed002's Note - Sorry, no.}

I think people are not seeing the bigger picture. We have got £12m for a player currently injured for perhaps 6 weeks and who is 29 in March. We still have in the midfield department downing, gerrard, adam, lucas, maxi, henderson, kuyt, shelvey and spearing. Bellamy can also drop to the flanks where is has often played for the last 4-5 years of his career.
As we are not in Europe and the FA Cup does not start until January we have too many players for just the premiership. If you think our staring midfield/attack will look like this - gerrard, downing, lucas, adam with suarez and carrol up front with Bellamy, kuyt, henderson and maxi the cover for those players - As you can see Merieles not needed - Simples

Morning Ed's, firstly well done and thank you for the time and effort over the last few weeks esp. yesterday. Just a quick question, been reading this morning from a few places that it was Liverpool who were the unnamed club who bid £9m for Jelavic. You guys know if this is true?
Cheers
BenLFC

p.s. Anymore info on what (mainly why)happened with Meireles?

What went on with Meireles is simple:

1. He is not favoured by Kenny he place is the starting line up would have depended on others being injured

2. He felt he was underpaid and the promises to improve his financial situation were not honoured by the new liverpool owners this rightly or wrongly does not matter that was the state of play

3. Chelsea have improved his financial position considerably and probably tripled his salary!

Under these circumstances would you stay at Liverpool?

You would?

Are you Sure?

Really?

Why how much are chealsea rumoured to be paying him? i thought he was on about 60k at liverpool. Chealsea wouldnt pay him 180k?
Manno

Liverpool have announced they have completed the signing of USA U18 striker Villyan Bijev.

The youngster impressed on trial at the Academy during the summer and he has signed in from American outfit California Odyssey.

The players doesn't yet have a work permit so he has also completed a simultaneous loan to German side Fortuna Dusseldorf with effect from Wednesday.

Let's hope he makes the grade. Also good for tapping into USA market.

Hi eds great site.Do you think there might be some signings we may not of heard of yet? {Ed009's Note - I am afraid it is doubtful.}

hey eds, pls post in questions.

1. was there any approach made on adam johnson?

2. do u think we will go for him in january? coz we didnt manage to get benayoun n to be honest i think adam johnson is better. not cheaper, but better, considering he is not used in man city.

3. does kenny rate him? (if u know that is)

thanks

Kaizer {Ed009's Note - There was an enquiry, I believe, for Adam Johnson. Mancini wanted to let him go, but the board were unwilling to release to a Premier League rival. I imagine there is a chance, but I am wholly unaware of January's targets right now, as is Kenny I'm sure. Kenny has made enquiries in the past and he is exactly the sort of player we have been looking at. I would presume he is a fan.}

Been informed that no more players will join Liverpool FC this transfer window. We did however, make a late attempt to sign Adam Johnson, with the money from the Meireles transfer. This offer however, was rejected.

Mr Know,

Yeah probably because the windows shut

As its past 11pm, guess you are correct.well done

Wow, thislad knows his stuff.

Martin

Well yeah...The window shut almost 1 hour before your post so would be pretty good work to make anymore signings.

I had a reliable source that told me the same thing... my watch

You're all saying the window had shut. But it could have been a done deal but the medical may have been today. So they would wait till after the medical to announce it. So when mr know posted, the deal was actually still possible. Very unlikely now though sadly

Adam Johnson deal to be announced tomorrow! watch this space

Get a life.............

Why write something like that? you absolute berk.

I'm sick of death of hearing these stupid rumours. The deadline has passed if it was done deal been mentioned by now so just stop with it please we got Bellamy

Why not announce it now?

Hope this is true

No chance in hell. Feel midfield is short now. Bitter end to the transfer window.

And your source is? Talkin b****ck's! nob!

May happen in jan but not now
would of been signed sealed by now

Meanwhile, back in the real world..........

Or go to sleep u tool

Did you know Santa was also signing?

Yu guys cant respect others opinion...i understand that this will be total rubbish but y do yu keep dissin yur fellow men like this...and yu say never walk alone #disgrace

Seriously, it was obviously a joke...

Completely agreed with the guy above! Ease up on people, this is a RUMOURS site, not a 'THIS IS DEFINITELY TRUE SO BELIEVE IT' site.

How transfer ended

Jus cos the time passed dont mean deals cant be finished off, aslong as paper work is handed in on time medicals can happen after deals can still be announced after the window closes, for alls anyone knows this could be true,,,,,,me personally dont think it is, but thats jus an opinion

Maybe it was a joke, but why even say it, only going yo p*** people off with stupid comments like that

What a sad b**tard, take your BS elsewhere.

I think sleep deprivation has got the better of this guy's sense of reality...

No tolerance whatsoever

That orignal post is up to the standard that has been all too common

If people are saying that we done this deal at 9pm,do you think eds that anyone can come in because to get a tranfer in only the paper needed to be done before 11 pm.

what do you thinks eds is it still possible,liverpool have done all there tranfers on the quite?

ps pls post in rumours plzzzz. {Ed009's Note - possible, but I can't see it, and haven't heard anything about it I'm afraid.}

But we dont need anyone. what we have will see us thru to january when we will reassess the situation
