Just need to go get Moreno in and let Toure, Coates, Borini, Assaidi, Lucas and Jones go and successful summer of transfers complete.

Why would the club doctor undergo a medical?

Are we going to borrow the red sox medical facilities or something? haha

According to a newspaper, the French international will fly to Boston tomorrow to have a medical with the team, who arrived in America this evening for their pre-season tour.

Hi Guys,
I believe we have reached agreement for Lovern. Any confirmation yet Eds?

{Ed001's Note - he has spoken to Koeman and asked for the deal to go through, that is all I know. He wants to leave still.}
He will sign in next 48 hours and then fly out to join squad in the states

He will sign in 42.5 hours and swim to the states

Hi ed 1 is this a new bid or original bid saints rejected?

{Ed001's Note - I believe, as I have not been told anything about a new bid being placed, that it is the previous one that is now being negotiated.}

Sportske Novosti report that Lovren will sign for Liverpool either on Sunday or Monday at the latest after Southampton accepted an offer of 20 million euros from Brendan Rodgers' side.
Lovren, 25, is expected to sign a four-year deal at Liverpool

Ian Ayre has some change leftover from his many trips around Europe in the last few weeks.
He considered queuing up at the Post Office to change the money back but chanced his arm at giving it to Soton instead

I just checked barret twitter account he states the deal is for 20 million pounds not euros

My thoughts would be if it is the same bid then perhaps he has handed in his transfer request to give further incentive for Southampton to bite.

Hi Eds,
Great work as always!
A question for Ed 001 if he's about.
Do you know if we have any other central defenders targeted in case we fail to get Lovren and if so are we likely to switch our attentions there?
I read today that Utd are supposedly targeting De Vrijj for about 10m. I don't think Liverpool are interested, but I think he is a decent player and shows that there are other options about, maybe at a better price.
Is there anybody else you rate who you would like as a possible alternative.
Believable6
Unbelievable12
{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware it is Lovren only right now. My alternative would be to try Kelly there to be honest.}
Kelly, you are having a laugh, for lfc first team.chamions league, or premiership.i thought you knew about football?
Agree4
Disagree8
Ed with Kellys injury history do you feel it would be to risky
Agree1
Disagree3
{Ed001's Note - no, he got injured playing a different role, centre back places much less stress on his legs.}
Personally, I'd be very nervous going into the season with Kelly being expected to start as our main centre half (not that you said that Ed).
He hasn't played consistently for a long long time so to throw him into league and champions league football would scare me BUT I was the same when Flanagan was being brought into the squad and look how that turned out!
Agree0
Disagree0
Ed's, you have totally said what I have been saying for maybe the last 2 years. We have an English big strong lad who is still young and is a natural CB. If Kelly can stay fit I'd love to see him play some games at CB. Great Shout

people criticising the idea of playing kelly at CB are the ones who know nothing about football; as successive managers and the coaching team have long planned to switch there once he gained more experience.
fitness and injuries is obviously a concern, but when he's had a proper run in the team, he's looked excellent as a RB, and could potentially be even better at CB.
Sakho and lovren with illori and kelly as back-up is more than adequate.

Hi ed's, what's the situation with Ron Vlaar? Great World Cup and very much a stand out player in a very average Villa side. I believe there's only a year left on his contract and would be much cheaper than Lovren. Have we or anyone shown an interest? Cheers in advance

20 Jul 2014 14:59:05
Ed002, question for you. Would it be fair to say that Remy will conclude the team's attacking additions? Also, the Isco talk doesn't make sense. We well stocked in that area. Plus the money it would take to bring him in would be beyond what we can afford. This one is a sure non-starter. Would appreciate your views ed.
Believable14
Unbelievable5
{Ed002's Note - I think that the club still maintain an interest in a youngster, Origi. There is interest in Isco from Italy but he is keen to stay in Madrid. It will again be tought for him to get games. He has been offered to Chelsea as part of a deal for another player but right now they are trying to do something else. If Liverpool are interested it is hard to see, given his price, how they would make use of him as any sort of regular player - unless Coutinho were to be moving on. It is not out of the question that Manchester City might be interested again. The issue with the money would primarily be how much can Liverpool spend on players that will only get the Aspas, Alberto, Ilori amount of games per season - particularly given how the club need to be balancing the books and working the debt. There will be a bunch of folk leaving no doubt, but these would be fringe players in any case.}
I was going to ask the same question re attackers. Do you think we will replace Borini if he moves on as expected Ed and given Origi supposedly would not join the squad until next year?
Agree2
Disagree0
{Ed002's Note - No clubs in their right mind replace players on loan.}
Would they really only get the Aspas, Alberto, Ilori amount of games? Or would it be fair to say that with us battling on four fronts this season that they would get more play than that. Also, if they're better players, wouldn't rodgers be more inclined to bring them on more often or even rotate a little bit (Dare I say- not in a Rafa style way though!)
Agree2

{Ed002's Note - You mean the additional six CL games?}
Why do they need to move on? They are young and the competition will be healthy

Eds
I've been through the search function regarding ssn reporting that we are interested in Milner, but can't find any replies from the Editors
Has there been any communication or interest registered between the clubs and the players reps and agents?
I thought he turned the game around for city at Anfield last season, got a good engine on him and would make a decent impact player off the bench
But surely we don't need another midfielder? at least with not letting one go, we are overloaded. and looking at some of the young talent we had on display yesterday it would seem crazy to go and buy again in that position and not convinced he would fit into BR philosophy of play, apart from his premiership and CL experience. . I can't see this happening
Any thoughts or opinions eds?

I fully agree with all of you that Milner is a good player. Plenty of energy and application. Really works his socks off for the team.
However, you see the quality we have bought that can play wide in Lallana, Markovic and even Coutinho. Then look at how Sterling and Ibe are progressing, along with the possibility that Remy can come in off the left, as can Sturridge.
Then we look into Milner's other role, CM, we have Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Can, Lucas (currently) along with Lallana and Coutinho again.
A. Where would Milner fit in?
B. Would you not prefer that we continued to move forward with young and exciting talent as opposed to signing a wage busting bench warmer?
Two years ago I would have had Milner in a heartbeat, now however I think he is the wrong side of the age game and nkt as good as the younger lads we have.

I can't really see him coming to us. He won't be playing week in week out. which he deserves 2b but not in a top 4 team i'm afraid tough decision because he brought something to a man city at times least season but off the bench. which is what we would offer . unless he was used for central midfield which is his preferred position and left wing . I would have him in my squad but what price will he cost as city paid 25m for him
