Apparently Jordan Ibe has been pictured in a West Ham UTD shirt. Looks like he is on his way out.

It's fake.

Agree3 Disagree9

20 Jun 2016 18:52:37
It's not a fake picture; he was spotted wearing a West Ham jersey, but apparently he does that often when playing for footy with mates near his hometown.

West Ham are not the club interested in him, but Watford as Ed002 has said.

20 Jun 2016 19:48:51
It's already been explained he was playing with a couple of youngsters for Arsenal Chuba Akpom etc. They were just having a game of football.

At least it wasn't a man united shirt?

It was Payet's match worn top from last season. Nothing to worry about.

Hi Ed's, anything new regarding Illori? Has he left yet or any idea where he will be off to?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - nothing new yet mate. There are a couple of interested parties, but nothing is settled. I would expect a move to Spain, that is the home to most of the interest.}

20 Jun 2016 23:44:10
What actually happened with Ilori? I don't understand why he was brought in, hyped as much as he was and then really never given a chance to prove himself. Just farmed out stupidly on loan and now will be sold. Sometimes I just really don't understand the way we buy players for. If he was judged to be not good enough, they should have known that before we went out and signed him. Feel bad for the lad, too. Will always be remembered as the Eds used to call him, 'the messiah' haha.

Agree5 Disagree3

21 Jun 2016 00:55:34
That is a dear BR question, Scouser as he is the one who brought him in.

Agree3 Disagree3

21 Jun 2016 07:43:26
did the Eds actually call him that or just half the posters on this site?

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Ed002 used it as a joke, because everyone was so desperate to see him play and it stuck.}

21 Jun 2016 10:30:03
8m on someone who doesn't even play for the club, what a waste of money.

Agree4 Disagree1

21 Jun 2016 11:54:12
Ah ok. That Ed 2 and his jokes. She sure gets the posters riled up eh :-)

21 Jun 2016 12:45:20
Cheers Ed's, it's definitely time for him to move on. Yet another acquisition that's left us fans scratching our heads.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - the problem was with the management team who targeted him and then did not use him when they got him. Poor management by the club as a whole. Again.}

20 Jun 2016 17:20:15
Vigoroux is being sold to Swindon for a believed fee of £400,000 after a successful season on loan there.

Good luck to the lad.

Believable19 Unbelievable7

20 Jun 2016 18:55:34
Just a quick note on the Vigouroux sale; he signed a new deal not far back and is now sold, and my understanding is that LFC don't want o lose the youngsters they have trained for cheap, so are having them sign a new deal and then selling them later to get a healthy amount back.

Wisdom, Smith, Brannagan, Ibe, Stewart have all signed new deals in the recent past while LFC offered deals to Tex, Rossiter, Sinclair which were turned down by the players.

Hi eds,

What's the current situation on Lallana? Personally I think he is a great player and very underrated, more consistent than Coutinho and deserves more game time.
Is he likely to get moved on in the summer?

Thanks.

Believable3 Unbelievable14

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely he will go anywhere. Though I fail to see a 'great' player anywhere there.}

20 Jun 2016 15:49:26
Ed001, is it because he takes too many touches on the ball and slows down play? He can be frustrating at times, but he presses very well, is a decent passer, and makes good runs. Would you not have him in your starting 11?

Agree1 Disagree7

{Ed001's Note - he takes far too many touches and wastes most of our best chances by farting about and doing silly turns that are not needed. Yes, he does press well, but his attacking runs are awful, not at all good, nor is his passing. He would be nowhere near my first choice 11.}

20 Jun 2016 15:56:27
The only thing Lallana is consistent at is in being average, I get the fact he works hard, but where it really counts, ie scoring and creating goals he is sadly lacking, there was a spell last season where he released the ball quicker and chipped in with some goals, sadly that didn't last long and he reverted back to type, however klopp seems to like him so it looks like he is here to stay.

Agree8 Disagree5

20 Jun 2016 16:10:10
Who would you replace him with Ed? assuming Coutinho and Firmino are already in the team.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - not sure he needs replacing as such. I would rather have one of the youngsters in his slot, Branagan in particular. At least then wwe would have someone to take set pieces.}

20 Jun 2016 16:31:07
Lallana is a great player to have when the opposition are on the ball, and it is a total myth that he doesn't score or create enough goals. Last season he got 7 goals and 8 assists in about 3500 minutes of football which is a goal/ assist roughly every 200-250 minutes. Hardly poor return.

That being said, he is not good enough for us despite his pressing and creative return. Because countless times we are caught on the counter attack because he tries to much instead of releasing the ball and loses it. And even more frequently our own counter attacks break down because yet again, he just doesn't release the ball quickly enough.

He has to go down as the most frustrating player we've ever had because in terms of skill and technique, he is as good as say John Barnes. But in terms of intelligence ie. Knowing when to pass the ball, and making the correct decisions he is just clueless. His work rate and tenacity is up there with that of Dirk Kuyt, yet he still concedes possession more frequently than he wins it back! I am constantly screaming at my TV because of him.

Then there is the dilemma; what actually is his position? In the centre he gets crowded out as his speed of thought isn't quick enough, yet he has no real pace to play as a wide man. In theory he should be great at cutting inside as he can shoot with either foot. But for some reason, instead of getting a shot off quickly he wants to squeeze in a cruyff turn first!

I need to stop now because I'm getting frustrated writing this. Not good enough due to a lack of application. Effort and talent is there. But he isn't clever enough to make the most of it.

Agree12 Disagree8

20 Jun 2016 16:46:17
He definitely doesn't score or create enough when compared to Coutinho, Firmino or even Milner. I would gladly keep him as a squad player however over bringing in Mane.

Agree9 Disagree4

20 Jun 2016 16:54:01
Falls over and gets bullied off the ball sometimes way to easy, I like lallana has a lot of potential but I don't think he does enough to take us to that next step.

Agree4 Disagree3

20 Jun 2016 17:46:58
Lallana is a bang average player who has had the luxury of this page and some posters. He wouldn't get into current Southampton team let alone Liverpool. Saints robbed us and laughed over us when we spend £27 mill on him.
He only works hard for the first 20 Mts and then his battery dries up.

Agree6 Disagree10

20 Jun 2016 18:40:54
Couthino loses the ball quite a lot on the turn n his goals/ assists isn't much better if at all (don't no exactly) but he's world class to some, lallana got better last season probably klopps influence so hopefully he keep improving, a good team doesn't always require 11 worldies.

Agree7 Disagree5

20 Jun 2016 18:59:08
If you think Lallana is bad, Mane is worse!

Agree5 Disagree4

20 Jun 2016 18:59:21
If you compare Coutinho and Lallana, stats or no stats, Coutinho is a better player than Lallana by a huge margin.

Agree9 Disagree3

20 Jun 2016 19:06:56
Depends what you mean by consistent, lallana will give you the same every week, lots of running, but no end product - week in week out.

Agree6 Disagree2

20 Jun 2016 22:17:27
Lallana will lose his place to Ojo IMO.

Agree4 Disagree4

{Ed091's Note - jumping the gun a bit ron.

20 Jun 2016 23:34:51
I meanin time Ed, not in August.
I've a feeling Ojo will fly around Christmas and will take his place in the team.

Agree2 Disagree3

21 Jun 2016 00:57:48
There is nothing great about Lallana.

Agree4 Disagree1

21 Jun 2016 02:38:02
It amazes me you all have such a bad opinion of Lallana he reminds me of Hoddle not as good but the same style
only issue I can see is lack of goals.

Agree0 Disagree1

21 Jun 2016 03:16:41
Please don't compare john Barnes to lallana. he's not in the same league. Barnes was worldclass full stop and lallana isn't.

Agree5 Disagree1

21 Jun 2016 05:28:47
Lallana - however good professional he might be is and will be a let down.

I was excited when he joined from Southampton after seeing his performance for the Saints but have to confess how wrong I was. Ed01 is 100% correct

He is a total let down at 25 million pounds. If we had bought him of 5 million instead that would have us believe we didn't make a costly mistake.

Nothing personal against him - like the looks of him but football wise nothing much to write about.

This brings a question to mind -- I will post a new thread continuing this theme.

Thanks,
Sami Kewell.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Jun 2016 06:02:02
The one think I like about him is he's constantly on the move, ye it can be a bit headless sometimes but on the other hand he's often the one to pull their defence out of position, create a pass or open a gap.

His biggest problem though is once he's created the danger and gets the ball he's far too slow to capitalise and the move often dies with his multiple touches or a blocked shot/ shot straight at the keeper.

I still hope he clicks as I think he has the potential there if he gets it right but he's running out of time to improve his end product IMO.

Alternative would be to move him back into midfield slightly, I think he could be useful there in a 4-3-3 alongside hendo and Can to provide cover.

21 Jun 2016 06:09:53
How on earth is Llalana like Hoddle (except they might possibly produce a similar performance if they were asked to go in goal)?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2016 07:51:48
I'm really surprised that only Zimbo mentioned the "shot straight at the keeper" issue. Every time! Most frustrating! But he works hard, presses hard and makes things happen at o und the box. Just needs to improve the end product.

(BTW has anyone seen the number of good through balls Studge has played for England? )

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jun 2016 08:28:05
He's a Liverpool player so will get my support having said that he's no great player, I think he should be given another season, should he fail to improve move him on.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jun 2016 16:50:00
Football was a totally different game when Barnes and Hoddle were playing, the pace was way slower back then so you can not compare Lallana to these guys. Put it another way, do you think Barnes strolling around the centre circle picking out great passes would suffice week in week out in the premiere league?
Ball would be pinging around so much he might not even get a touch.
Don't get me wrong as I do think Barnes was a great player.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jun 2016 17:32:39
i think Couthino is getting unfair stick on here, when we play teams they know how dangerous he is so they close him down or man mark him and a lot of the time there's 2 players on him so yes he loses the ball but its because of that, where as Lallana does not get marked out of the game by the opposition team, but he still manages to lose the ball or let our counter attacks fall apart because he want to bally dance with the ball around players, we all know he has the skill but as mentioned in other posts he does let himself down with his distibution and his pass choice, instead of releasing the ball to one of our players who is open for a couple of seconds he does a turn and tries to beat the player again which is very frustrating because the chance has gone, where as Couthino will see the pass very quick and if he has the time and space he will pass the ball through to our player, and please give Couthino the credit of winning the ball back a lot because i have not seen him get the credit for it, he may not do it all game but he does do it, i say let's just enjoy Couthino while he is here because he is a top, top player for us, that's why he has won the awards he has.

How true is the link Danny ings to Swansea? I hope we keep him he looked good before that injury last season.

Believable3 Unbelievable20

20 Jun 2016 13:26:37
Given the amount of hassle we've been through to decide how much to pay for him I'd be amazed if this were true.

I hope Danny is training hard and expect him to get plenty pre-season games given most of our strikeforce are away at various international contests. That should see him fit and ready to go for 2016/ 17.

I see him as perfect for that role just behind a main striker - buzzing about and annoying defenders to make space for someone like Sturridge - a bit like Suarez, but not that good obviously.

Agree14 Disagree0

20 Jun 2016 13:48:22
Can't see it happening if we sell Benteke as planned. Think he will be an excellent third striker and complements the other 2 well, bringing something different to the bench.

20 Jun 2016 14:58:42
Ain`t going to happen and the boy is desperate to succeed here.

Agree10 Disagree0

20 Jun 2016 15:30:22
I don't think he'd be third striker for long Zimbo. If he gets back to the level he was at before injury, and then continues improving he'd soon be 1st / 2nd choice.

Agree9 Disagree4

20 Jun 2016 15:35:54
He's not what we need to be a top 4 side. Mid table player at best.

Agree1 Disagree26

20 Jun 2016 15:59:44
before last season would you have described vardy as a mid table player? I thought the same about Ings myself before I saw him play for us, his performances changed my mind for me, looking forward to him having a injury free season.

Agree7 Disagree2

20 Jun 2016 16:03:19
I think ings will stay myself. But I feel if we sell benteke to another English side he will come back to haunt us like Carroll did last season. My opinion we are still short of a CB . I don't know much about matip so I'd still like to see somebody proven . Shawcross anybody?

Agree0 Disagree21

{Ed001's Note - please no!}

20 Jun 2016 16:56:20

20 Jun 2016 21:01:28
Ings is a great option to have as competition to or even as a 1st striker. Pacey hard working and a good finisher, I don't see why he can't be our Vardy, just much younger! Gutted we didn't get him when originally linked with him in burnleys promotion season and gutted when he got injured. No way he's leaving.

Agree5 Disagree0

21 Jun 2016 00:59:15
Shawcross? Really? The boy needs to be a bouncer and not a footballer.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

20 Jun 2016 11:35:58
Any particular teams interested Ed's?

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - a couple showing tentative interest but nothing will happen yet, probably not until Belgium are out.}

20 Jun 2016 13:30:56
If he's sold, reckon we'd replace him or make do?
Also what do you think the chances are of sturridge leaving? All those rumours before the euros seem to have died down. Personally I could see him heading London way at some point

Cheers!

Agree0 Disagree7

20 Jun 2016 14:55:41
Cheers Ed's still think he's a good player, just not for us.

Agree2 Disagree1

20 Jun 2016 17:16:23
Have we got any talented strikers in the youth squads? Might be worth promoting one of them, instead of buying a replacement for Benteke if he's sold.

Agree0 Disagree4

20 Jun 2016 09:04:34
Eds i'm reading that lfc could sign amavi? From villa? Havent seen anything of him any improvement on moreno? Also this seems to be one of a long line of rumours around players from relegated sides not just here but bundasliga too?

Believable2 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - We have known of interest for some weeks. So this is really not new news, and there is interest from elsewhere.}

20 Jun 2016 09:03:47
Ed2 what is the latest with Mane? Have we made a bid for him yet or just interest so far?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of a bid being made at this time.}

20 Jun 2016 11:19:17
Hi ed2, I used the search function but couldn't find the answer. Are we definitely interested in Mane?

Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Southampton are not looking to sell Sadio Mane and they want to offer him a new contract. As it stands right now it would take a very significant offer to have them consider a sale - and they have made it clear - if anyone wants to pay well over the odds, then fine. Manchester United has had the player watched this season and may well press on with a bid. Knowing where the original story came from you can be assured that there is interest from Liverpool. Previous interest of Bayern Munich has gone.}

20 Jun 2016 16:05:05
basically if we pay £40m for him than the player will be ours, I do hope that we show a little bit of common sense this time, he is far to inconsistent and has discipline issues that need sorting out.
