Florian Neuhaus (CM) There remains significant interest in the Borussia Muenchengladbach player with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund seeing him as a player who will continue to improve. Real Madrid see him as an option in midfield and his representative has made no secret that there has been interest from elsewhere including Manchester City, Spurs, Juventus and the Milanese clubs, but Milan seems a less likely destination. Borussia Dortmund will push hard for him but they have growing money issues. He would offer an outstanding solution with Wijnaldum leaving - but they may not have the necessary funds to pay in cash and will need to negotiate. Don't rule out an offer from Liverpool. BD interest will go with Rose's commitment to not take players from BM. I suspect the player will agree to an additional year at Muenchengladbach if Bayern Munich hint at taking him next summer.}

Could box off the midfield for the next 5+yrs while Gini has gone, Milner turning 67 this year and Hendo/ Thiago both in their 30s.

@Gingerlfc, one good quality midfielder should be plenty. Thiago is 30 since April and Hendo just turned 31 about a week ago.
We have Konate signed for centre back with VvD and Gomez due back as well so Fabinho shouldn't be needed to play centre back.
We can't sign everyone. One midfielder and one attacker and otherwise a half dozen at least will move on.

Ginis ever presence in midfield will be gone.
Milner playing less games again this season.
Thiago and Hendo now both in their 30s and prone to missing games.
Sell Kieta, bring in Neuhaus and Bissouma for midfield.
Offload Minamino, Shaq and Origi upfront and bring in Malen/ Vlahovic.

I think 2 would be enough, two good players especially the midfielder to be Bissouma or someone like him or at his level.
A forward better than Origi then and I don't think we can afford any others.

Previously linked with the player before his move to Dortmund, apparently he is open minded about a move abroad and sees the prem as a viable option
Maybe available for as little as €20-25m roughly what Dortmund paid for him?

He would be a reasonable price and would be a permanent Oezil replacement but it will now depend on the future of others and he would no longer be first choice. Asking price is €25M which Lazio may look to try and meet having lost out on their first choice AM option - but they need to be careful with their available funds as they are looking at several additions.}

Avoid at all costs he is not anywhere near the level our front three are at. And there is no workrate with him.

Versatile and can play front three and in midfield. Seems like a good fit for klopp too. Klopp works well with pacey high energy players. Brandt has all the skills. Just struggles to put it all together on a regular basis. I think he would be a very useful player to add to the squad and would give us a lot more options than some of the others mentioned.

Brandt has regressed a ton since he moved to Dortmund. The guy couldn’t even get in the team this season for the most part. Hard pass. Avoid at all costs.

Fully agree, LiverpoolFC8 esp Brandt who is poor and has been poor for two years now hence, he is an Arsenal type player. MacGinn, I like as a player but he is nowhere near Gini’s level. Can definitely do better on both counts.

McGinn is fairly handy alright but I'd expect he is worth a lot more to Villa than he would be to us. I'd be surprised if they would accept £30M for him.
I have just made that number up myself but my point is I don't think he would be worth £30M to add depth to our squad, yet I would expect him to cost a little more.
Bissouma could cover defensive midfield and centre mid so would be a better fit for our squad.

I'd be happy with Nehaus or Bissouma. I won't pretend to have seen Nehaus though - could he cover Fabinho if Fabinho was out for a few weeks? Or would you be thinking that Hendo would drop back and Nehaus would play centre mid?
