Thanks for the great update Ed002.
Now you've got me thinking about right-backs and ideally one who can play as a wing-back. You said Danilo won't happen, so:
Are we stuck with Manquillo for another season if Atletico don't want him back or can the loan be cancelled?
Will Martin Montoya be available in the summer?
Are PSG expected to keep Serge Aurier?
Clyne is expected to be snapped up by a top 4 side for big money right?
What's the interest in Seamus Coleman like?

Thanks a bil, as always!

Coleman would be out standing

Bit unfair to say "stuck with Manquillo". He is very young, arrived at a big club in a strange country and was part of a very out of form team.

From what I have seen the kid give his all and did a decent if unspectacular job.

Surely he should be allowed to see out the second year of his loan, and maybe just maybe with the right coaching and a year of settling in behind him, his confidence will grow and he will attempt to get down the line more and deliver improved crosses as his friend Moreno does on the left side.

I think he defo has some talent and composure, but it may take another year to discover if he has enough of it to provide the club with a bargain !

Would have to agree with Begball here, he looked promising at the start of the season when we were playing four at the back. He hasn't really had much of a chance to play at all in the new system. I think we should definitely keep him. Plus, we have Flanagan to come back at right back as well.

I didn't actually mean being stuck with him would be a bad thing, I like him a lot, not his fault if he doesn't fit the system is all and I was just wondering about the status of him & other potentially more suitable RWBs.

Since Ibe got injured I've actually picked Manquillo in my XI for every away match to provide more defensive solidity, Rodgers hasn't agreed. Neither Sterling, Lallana nor Markovic seem to be ideal there against a dangerous opponent, Manquillo might've helped against Swansea or Besiktas for example.

Is this why we're looking at Milner on a free?

Daily star reporting 50m bid from city for sterling in the summer.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City have all shown some level of interest in Raheem Sterling although Chelsea have opted for a different player, so will not be considering a bid. Generally, European sides are wary of English players as they tend to struggle to settle in overseas - language, culture, food etc., and that might be enough to curtail the interest of Real Madrid.}

Apparently he wants 150k a week, nowhere near deserving of that and if the saga carrys on I'd bite their hand off for £50m

Who is the other player Chelsea have opted for Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Costa.}

Is the player Chelsea are after is Douglas Costa?

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

Lerchy, I wouldn't take any note of what sterling is apparently "demanding". Ed002 seems content that Sterling will sign a new deal at some point.

Ed002, News paper, twitter/Facebook or your Grandmothers friends nephew who's married to the cousin of the tea lady at Anfields daughter?

Easy choice.

phil thompson was over heard in the david lloyds telling his mates that sterling to city is a done deal and that it was talk of executive box yesterday, agent told him to have two years left on his deal an he will get a massive move.

Hi Eds,
I know its a general question. but do you know of any rumours who you think may be linked to a move to LFC this summer. Thank you.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - This has been done before and you should make the effort to read the posts before asking such things. However, since there are some minor updates I will provide the information once more. Mmuch of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) how much money the club can raise through sales (remembering that Liverpool will be probably be looking to sell players by the end of June to offset FFP issues), (c) Champions League qualification, and (d) any change in senior management or the management structure. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players:

GK: Ochoa, Neto, Sportiello (unconfirmed to some extent as Atalanta and the player heard about the interest from an Italian journalist), Romero, Ryan, Ruddy. The club have also looked at many others.

RB: Danilo (certainly won't happen). I am not sure what will happen to Wisdom. I suspect a new deal for Flanagan but if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club will look for a new RB. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. Alternative is that Manquillo stays and RB is no longer a priority. The likes of Adriano and Alves have been mentioned by agents as possible options but such players will be expensive and are unlikely to end in anything but tears. Folks, I assume because of something in the press, have been asking about Janmaat moving to Liverpool. I don't know of interest but I am pretty sure Newcastle would not want to sell.

CB: A new deal has been offered to Toure and he will be considering his options. I doubt a CB is a priority - at least not before the club clear out some of those already on the books (Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho, Ilori, Coates, Paez, Lloyd Jones and Kolo Touré).

MF: I understand from an ex-German international that Liverpool have watched Lars Stindl on more than one occasion this season. Milner, Khedira (looking very, very, very unlikely), Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez

F/W: Ings, Vietto, Gameiro, Baez (a WP would be an issue initially), Kishna (I understand that old interest has been rekindled but it is hard to see how he would fit in), Lacazette (not going to happen), and Liverpool have looked again at Firmino. Two other players the club were interested in - Bakkali (I suspect Liverpool have stepped back from their interest like many other clubs) and Andre Ayew (a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - no obvious interest right now but it may return).

If Liverpool do qualify for the Champions League and if further funds can be made available through sales, it would not be out of the question for Liverpool to look to one of the following as an option:

GK: Cech
MF: Carvalho, Turan
F/W: Benzema

And who would be my choice of players who will be available?

GK: Handanovic
RB: Darmain
CB: Balanta - Caniggia wanted Liverpool to move for Balanta more than two years ago - and he has got better. Rogers ignored the advice. He shouldn't have done. If Liverpool need a CB
MF: Matuidi, Morgan Sanson
F/W: Mitrovic - I don't see a long term future for Lambert and Mitrovic would give Liverpool a very good option that they are missing right now. Rodgers will regret using the words "Origi" and "world-class" in the same sentence.

20 Mar 2015 10:47:07
Agree 100% about Matuidi- the man's a class act. How open would PSG be to a move though and is he someone we've seriously considered?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City and Manchester United are interested in Matuidi and PSG need to sell to raise funds, but whilst the player is keen to stay in Paris his agent has made it clear that he will listen to offers from England. Arsenal has also enquired about his availability.

Liverpool has shown no interest.}

Great post ed, thanks for your time in posting this for us all, maybe you could do us all a massive favor and do one of these once a month at the end of the month to keep us all updated?

cheers again

{Ed002's Note - The next is scheduled for October.}

Really appreciate the update Ed002. I would personally love Vietto to make the move. I would prefer Kolo to go, nothing against him but I would like to see Ilori or another youngster to get a chance and grow as part of the team.

Do you know if Rossiter is rated highly enough withing the management to not go out and waste more money we don't have on a player to replace Gerrard? Or are the we dead set on buying in a replacement?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Rossiter is one of a number of youngsters who are very well thought of by the club. Whilst he may well deserve an opportunity in the first team I suspect at best he would be a squad member in the short term and get the occasional chance, I would very much doubt he will get thrown in to the first team right away. A gradual integration is always good for the player as well.}

21 Mar 2015 09:35:44
will we sign a left back?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't think so.}

Hello Ed

Would it be possible for you to do this for the Celtic page as well ?

Would be great to have a real insight into our clubs transfer activity.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot help in that way about Celtic - have Ed007 contact me next week (I am travelling all of this week) and we can try and do something.}
