Anybody give me an idea of whether these Mikhitaryan rumours are legit, or just regurgitated muck from a couple of seasons ago when we were in for him. ?
I don't see the need for him now with Lallana, Coutinho, Ibe and Firminho all able to play that same role.
If you ask me, i think we have a strong enough side to compete on all fronts this season. If Lucas goes, a solid tackler in the middle of the pitch may be required. But that's it.
If Rodgers can get the team playing proper football again, like the season before last, then we should be up there with the best come may. Had my reservations about Big Ben but he looks far more comfortable up there than i had originally imagined.
Looking forward to the rest of the season and tbh, ill take 1-0 wins all season if it came to it.

{Ed001's Note - he just had a great start to the season so rumours appeared. MOTD fever.}

Nottingham forest loan offer for texiera (excuse the spelling)

I don't think we can afford to loan out all these young players and expect them to want to stay with Liverpool. Suso was a prime example of this. Rodgers needs to use the pool of good young talent from our academy and stop spending millions.

Boy needs game time

I feel sorry for the lad - done plenty good enough to get a shot in the side but instead we've got Coutinho, Llalana, Firmino and probably even Markovic likely to get a shot at the no.10 role ahead of him.

We have way too many attacking midfielders and not enough defensive midfielders IMO - we really should have bought someone like Carvalho, Bender, Schneiderlin or Kongdogbia over Llalana or Markovic (even though I think they're both great talents and really want them to do well)

I'd rather teixiera than lallana, either way they will be subs, I'd prefer one with potential and as much as I like lallana, it's as good as he's going to be

Fencey I hope Rodgers shares your thoughts, I really don't know why BR doesn't trust him. I would throw him in against Arsenal. Lallana is too predictable so everything will go through Coutinho, who will be a heavily marked man on Monday. Having Teixeira on the pitch would ensure that we will still create chances and he looks like he always has a goal in him.

Mignolet - Gomez, Lovren, Skrtel, Clyne - Can, Teixeira, Milner - Ibe, Coutinho - Benteke
we can't go to arsenal with anything less than a 3 in the middle.

have Ings, Firmino, Lallana, Rossiter/Lucas, Moreno, Toure, Bogdan on the bench then all area's are well covered.

Anything in this mkhitaryan rumour ? Rodgers does no its called the number 10 role because the player wears 10 and not that you have to have 10 players for the position right ?

I also think an effort should be made to keep sakho but as it stands we have the best defensive stats in the league ATM albeit easy days and this might rapidly change come Monday ha! But you can't change a winning team !

I don't understand why, if we are to lose a bonafide DM in Lucas, why we would spend money on another AM? It seems counterproductive. However, I do see why they are putting value in Sakho. I rate him. Maybe he juts need a fire lit under him. I trust that Lovren has more potential that Sakho though. He's better on the ball, and has more composure. Also, Can has proven himself to be more than capable of performing admirably in DM, and Allen, who most seem to vilify, on his day is VERY competitive.
Stop being a bunch of negative nancy's.

Eds is it true sakho is being offered a new deal?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - a new deal was being discussed in the summer, which he was happy to sign at the time, before things got difficult.}

21 Aug 2015 06:45:40
So really, he hasn't been unhappy ever since early last season. Rodgers still seems to see him in his plans.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - there were issues, which looked like they had been resolved until he realised promises made to him were not being kept. Which is why the deal is unsigned and he looked to leave. Impossible to say what will happen as it comes down to a personal choice. Let's be honest though, if you were him and knowing you are unlikely to get a game no matter how bad the pair ahead of you play, would you not be upset and unhappy?}

I'd get over it for £100k p/w

I'd be pissed off too. What I was saying was that some people imply he was continually pissed off from minute one of last season, all the way until now. Obviously along the way, things were 'patched up', but things have now unravelled again.

If Rodgers doesn't rate him then why isn't he selling him? Because he wants depth? If he wants depth then it makes you ask why he doesn't just give Ilori some more hope.

If either Lovren or Skrtel start to underperform, it's hard to decide what to do. Do you just give Sakho another chance, or do you wait it out for a bit and see if Lovren and Skrtel can iron out all the creases and eventually improve/gel as a pairing?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Rodgers is willing to sell him but the club asked too much.}

21 Aug 2015 12:39:13
If you want to regularly play for your country, it's game time, not wages that get you there! Sakho is a genuine starter for me, but he has a manager that thinks Skrtel is the first name on the team sheet, so can see why he's worried!

Our transfer dealings in and out are a joke. If it was my business there would be plenty of people for the bullet. Total waste of money. Other clubs must laugh at our activity.

Spot on, Irish! It also doesn't help when owners aren't too bothered and a manager who is out of hi depth in this area and seems to make it up as he goes along.

I'm not defending BR at all, but in regards to Sakho, he should in no way be a guarenteed starter. He is like Bambi on ice and he should earn his spot back. Right now we have conceded nothing, thus should continue to wait.

Carl, that would be understandable if it was an honest competition for places in the team. This is not the case here. BR is not honest at all because by your judgement, Skrtel should not b a guaranteed starter as well. BR has his favs and if you are not one of them, you are toast. Sahko has shown that he is better than bot cbs and the numbers are there to prove it last season. So why isn't he playing? It's not because the others are better because that is just a farce. It is because BR never rated him, bought Lovren to replace him and has been trying yo sell him since last season YET he is the one who signed him. How is that fair competition for places in the team?
