in the italian press today thet are saying that milan/juve/manu/Liverpool are interested in dede from vasco de gama.
it states that Liverpool are favorite to land dede because lfc have been in contact for a while with a group of investors that have a share in dede ownership.
dont know if its true let's hope so this dede seems to 1 of the best defenders in brazil.
on the suarez matter I believe we should only sell him for crazy money that would help us fund 2/3 up and coming class players.
carra ret/quates not good enough, we need a playmaker and at least another attacker that can play all 3 front roles. we are 5/6 players short and we need money.
if fsg is willing to spend big we can keep suarez if they are limited because of no cl we need to clever.
MALTA {Ed002's Note - The Liverpool interest predates Rodgers and goes back to last summer and the players Caniggia was looking at. There might be renewed interest and I will see what I can find out. Manchester United, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Fiorentina, Liverpool, Benfica and Roma have shown an interest in Vasco's Dede over the past couple of years. Recently AC Milan, Barcelona, Juventus, Anzhi, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been keeping a watching brief on the player in the months leading up to the end of the Brazilian season. A bid has been made by Corinthians although I understand it is not a destination the player would consider right now and another by AC Milan in January - but they were told firmly that he was not for sale in January. Benfica and Anzhi have both spoken with Vasco since January to see if a deal could be struck in the summer and it seems that is very likely with the long-term interest of Manchester United likely to be seen once more.}

Why 'up and coming' class players - why not Class players now- that's where we're going wrong- do as Utd do and buy one class player a year and a few young players. We'll be waiting forever if we're relying on young players- surely the're going to learn from experienced world class players around them- more gerrard's suarez's etc will only help them even more.

A class player a year would cost £20, £30 million and would probably be in his late 20s, and would have no resale value. It was decisions like that which took us within one day of administration last year.

Whilst I agree that we shouldn't got to the extremes of Arsenal and only sign players with potential, there's a happy medium between signing up and coming players and signing players with a limited shelf life.

Coutinho, Sturridge etc were good signings, now we need to look for more players who won't break the bank but will give us at least 3 to 4 years and then hopefully move on for more than we paid for them! That's the reality for any team not owned by a Sheikh

Ed002, it's about Suarez so I do apologise, but aside from Alexis Sanchez as a possible target should Suarez leave, are there any other names which have been mentioned as a possible replacement for Suarez?

For example, there are quite a few clubs going ahead with clear outs this summer, some high profile names are there for the taking, do Liverpool hold any interest in any of the high profile strikers which are likely to make a switch? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware at this time.}

Alright EDs, hope all doing well?
I know u ALL sick of hearing Suarez speculation but was wondering if u guys could clear sumthin up for me, I believe I've read somewhere that Suarez has a certain clause in his contract that if triggered allows him to speak 2 clubs? If this is the case does that mean it a buy out clause or does it jus entitle that club 2 negotiate a contract with him but still have 2 agree a fee with lfc?
Cheers in advance.
Chev84 {Ed002's Note - Please read the other posts.}

It only allows him to speak to other clubs. I think they have to bid £40m and that triggers the clause. However it is not a buy-out, clause so the final decision will be with LFC if they want to sell. {Ed002's Note - The figure is in euros.}

One thing that's been playing on my mind recently as regards new transfers, why not put in a bid for Essien from chavski, top quality player scores goals and runs allday, it would also free up Gerrad to get further forward, he is a CL player looking for a new challenge, he conducts himself off the pitch well, and i'm pretty sure BR knows him well, what do you think Ed. Red Gerry. {Ed002's Note - Certainly Rodgers knows him, but at 30 with interest from elsewhere I think it unlikely.}

Unlikly but not impossible, at 30 he's still very fit enough for 2 seasons. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown zero interest in him.}

Good shout. would add depth and quality
G

You do realise that the reason Gerrard is playing further back is because he no longer has the appropriate physical attributes to play as the explosive trequartista, right?

He may run all day, but his 'days' are far too infrequent due to injury.

It's a shame as he was a class player, one that Houllier tried to sign.

hi eds,

all this about suarez is old news, just like january there were loads of stories about him and juve, but I think he likes it here in Liverpool, I think we would be nuts to sell him and it would show the ambition of the owners and manager by getting rid, I think he is world class and up there with the likes of ronaldo and messi, if the club sell him then we are in bigtrouble untill new owners come in, I hope it is all talk and old news but if he wants to go I hope he gives us one more season to see if the club is going in the right direction and that the team is built around him, if he goes I will be gutted but wish him well because he has kept us from fighting for relegation, or relegation itself after our last game is anything to go by, he has played his heart out for us, he has had no breaks and he does not have the team around him to create chances for him, except for our left back who has supplied him with a few assits, that in itself shouts volumes for the rest of our team, he hasmade a lot of his goals himself and his free kicks have been great, but I did not like the signs I was seeing when we played southampton, when he was pushed out to the left and sturridge had the ball he was not even attempting to make any runs, as he knew how selfish sturridge is, sturridge was taking shot from ridiculas angles instead of passing to a team mate who was better placed, and with the rumour about ashley williams from swansea then I think suarez won't like that after williams ripped him apart in the press with his statement about suarez, so I ask myself who would I rather have, suarez or ashley williams and brendon rodgers, and I allways come out with the same answer, suarez, maybe that's why he has come out and said that about other clubs,

Seriously guys, what have Liverpool got left to offer Suarez? They aren't going to sign any world class players and next season is going to be very much like this in all honesty!

I really fail to see how, if Suarez goes, this says anything whatsoever about the owners? If Suarez leaves, he leaves because he wants it I would think.

I don't see BR, Ayre, or the owners forcing him out the door (or forcing him to put in clauses in his contract or forcing him to hang out in Turin last summer) which says that he himself is the one keeping his options open. To blame that on the owners or the club in general is pretty ridiculous for me.

As a player, Suarez is undoubtedly quite good, but this near worshipful idolatry from some supporters strikes me as just odd. He's a professional footballer, end of. He's a fairly large part of the reason KK is no longer our manager, he's certainly had his share of negative publicity for the club and he's also not the most clinical striker I've ever seen play the game. Point being, he's a great player on his day but he does come with some negatives as well and no one, not even Luis Suarez, is bigger than the club.

Slight concern with the MD coming out so publicly. Obviously protecting his position. He's not going to come out and say Suarez is for sale.
As far as I'm concerned, that statement has made me even more worried that our prized asset will go.

Great post, RDL. It amazes me the way some fans 'spin' situations in their own head to be able to blame someone (owners) for something bad happening. If Suarez leaves it will be because Liverpool got an acceptable offer and the player wants the move. Simple really.

Rdl mate, suarez is a top scorer in epl playing for 3grade team and you question his finishing haha, because of suarez Liverpool is atleast midtable or else Liverpool could be in religation dog fight that's how he has carried Liverpool in his shoulders, suarez leaving means the club are not going in right direction or top4 is beyond Liverpool reach, mediocrity has really effected your brain mate.

I completely agree with RDL, that Suarez is just keeping his options open, and being quite open about it. Who wouldn't?

To question him in front of goal is a bit strange. He's scored 22 pl goals, 3 more than Van Persie, who's team are way ahead of everyone else, whether we like it or not.

I agree he can score goals (as that's pretty obvious), but I do stand by the previous statement that he is not the most clinical finisher. His conversion rate was pretty poor last season and not too great the beginning of this one either. That said, it has improved considerably in 2013 thus far, so perhaps he's the got the kinks worked out. Just my opinion, of course.

Either way, agreed with HB that it simply comes down to his desire (or lack thereof) to leave in concert with the owners feeling that their valuation is met. I don't see LFC holding Suarez to his contract if he wants to go and to suggest (as I've seen some do) that we should would be a very big mistake I think.

My main worry about this post is wondering where the next full stop is going to come from. Seriously geezer, BREATH!

Bigbadbob

Suarez looks happy enough at Liverpool and it shows in his performances. Hoever, the Southampton game was a worry though (Suarez link up with Sturridge). Team quality LFC scouting and Brendons team positional play will be key to Suarez staying. Remember frustrated Sahin's comments on being out of position.
I think we have 12 months to prove to Suarez to stay.

Reading the star newspaper in Dublin which reads that luis suarez is calling on teams to bid for him now don't get me wrong as much as I love him and want him to stay forever I really hope if he is touting himslef about get rid club bigger than any1 and hopefully club are strong enough to hold out for the highest bid even if it rumbles on all summer {Ed002's Note - I don't think he said anything of the sort. All he did was re-iterate what we knew that he will see what options are there from CL clubs. There is nothing new in this and folks have been told repeatedly that this is the case. Yet again the club will no doubt be miffed that he has said such things to the press.}

Well no, If Suarez is to leave, then I hope it happens at the start of the window so we can get our money and start looking and buying the replacement/s as soon as possible, we need the new players to have the pre-season with the rest of the team -- fed up with the whole "need few months to gel" nonsense

Is Dede of interest? I've seen numerous reports this morning saying that he is and that we've attempted to steal a march on United? {Ed002's Note - "Numerous" reports will be repeating one story. The Liverpool interest predates Rodgers and goes back to last summer and the players Caniggia was looking at. There might be renewed interest and I will see what I can find out. eds what happened to eduardo vargas who used to play for napoli? I remember hearing good things about him but haven't heard anything in a while. {Ed002's Note - He is on loan to Gremio as he never settled in Europe.}

A question for ed 001 or ed002, do you think or know if Suarez will leave in the summer? Who would you get to replace him? Thanks
Hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - I don't think he will leave this summer, personally.}

You know someone is going to some how imagine that you said he's 100% absolutely certainly staying regardless of how every many billions he's offered a day, don't you Ed001?

After reading what he has said about listening to other clubs (you know there is going to be a few high profile names in there) and if LFC receive a good enough offer, I now reckon he'll go. Shame as he's going to be hard to replace.

We need Champions league and we need it soon that's all I can say.

Crowman

The main thing is that at the end of the day, the final decision lies with LFC if they wish to sell him.

Do we have any interest in Dede? If so what is his current situation? Thanks :)

This is the player we need in our back 4. Has pace, young, scores goals, and physical.

If reports are anything to go by then £15M is a very good price for Dede as he is young, scores goals, a very good defender and can play with the ball the only problem is if bigger clubs who are in the CL come in he might choose them over us the only thing we have in his favor is he will probably a starter if he joins us unlike other clubs. {Ed002's Note - The Liverpool interest predates Rodgers and goes back to last summer and the players Caniggia was looking at. There might be renewed interest and I will see what I can find out.
