Hi Ed, first time on site. Keep up the good work. Anyway, the rumuor is De Boer wants the job, but Ian Ayre made a wrong/ illegal approach. He had no other option than to decline the offer.This is J W Henrys 1st choice and will make a proper approach next week. I believe this will happen and we wil get our man. Bergkamp will take over at Ajax.

YNWA.

Considering de boer rejected the chance publicly as he wants to finish what hes started at ajax i doubt this will happen

His quotes clearly stated that he will stay loyal for the next few years. He wants to make Ajax massive again and he's already promised the Ajax board that he's staying. They even want to offer him a 'contract for life'. No chance unfortunately of him arriving.

If this is the case Ayre needs to move on, it's not the way to do business

I have to agree, why would DeBoer hang himself out to dry with Ajax fans by declaring his loyalty to the club only to leave shortly after. No offence but it sounds like a load of biggie smalls to me.

I hope this is true. De Boer is my number one hope!

Although i wish this rumour to be true, it is clearly horsesh*t.

Slaughter me all you want BUT! AVB will be the manager and he is very keen to reunite himself with Falcao & Moutinho. Not saying they will sign but If you think Falcao will go Chelsea you must be mad I'm sticking by this, less wait.
RedAlarm

It is not so implausible. if AVB gets the job, which i think he wll, then there is no reason why his ex-players at porto would not want to play for him again, depends on lots of factors thoug, we shall see. good things come to those who wait, not fickle fans who want things yesterday !

Yes, you would have to be mad to think that Falcao & Moutinho would turn down the Champions League winners to sing for an 8th place mid table team...urrm

I heard this awhile back about us having an interest in falcao but heard it was jan molby who recommended him to the owners and they agreed to look and bid i didnt believe it tho do theeds or macca know if this is true?cheers CRAIG

To Add AVB is in Lisbon as of tonight, I'm guessing talks will be done with a rep there or via video conference

When you say 'will', I think it's more of a guess. But I've made the same guess, it's unlikely to happen, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if it did. In my guess he brings James Rodriguez in as well :)

What is it about AVB? My head says yes - he's got a lot of qualities that make him ideal but my heart says hell no. He's got the personality of a brick and I just can't see him in the job.

My brother works for foxsports in australia and he told me kenny was gonna be fired before the story broke and also that avb is the one they want as well as falcao and moutinho, i know it seems unrealistic for this to happen but thats what he said every has told him at work

Craig where ever you got that information you are apot on, if it was a guess your lucky. Jan Molbyand Laudrup have been working behind the scenes giving FSG advice managerial advice and playertargets for a long while. The new DOF will bea very close friend ofLaudrups. Also Laudrup and co have been behind the scene for a long time he suggested Suarez in which comolli brought in later. He then left comolli to do his job....Which FSG and Laudrup ended up not liking so he got sacked. The Names u see popping up in the media have started again to be foriegn new young talent again which is because even when KK was still here he was being advised so Ramirez and Elm could still arrive but the new manager and DOF will pass judgement to...........
RedAlarm

Thank you redalarm i know a couple of people nothing major like maccas plus the info they give me changes so sometimes i dont know whats right and whats wrong i didnt actually believe the jan molby recommending them players. they have no idea who the managers going to be tho. they've mentioned who you just have laudrup van gaal martinez avb they still haven't ruled out rogers even though he ruled himself out cheers CRAIG

Roberto Martínez has been asked for a second interview. He must of impressed. Good luck to him.

Mighty reds

2nd interview before a 1st interview, novel approach !

He's set to be flying to the U.S to speak to the owners

I really hope this isn't true. I and all that I have spoken to have said they don't want him. I'll not be paying to go watch as I said under Roy. He isn't our man, we need big man to help bring players in and he will not attract, anyway I'm more enclined to keep with my source that it's AVB that has the job and to be announced next week sometime

2nd interview before a 1st interview, novel approach !

==================
:) Its backward counting ; dont you know.
I would guess an approach have been made before, its no coincidence rumours linking him with Liverpool started on the last day of the season, before Kenny was even sacked.
Roy

They interviewed martinez on sunday in preston. the second interview is indeed in boston this week. that is a fact

21 May 2012 23:09:20
spanish press reporting we are in for Falcao? Surely not?

Why not ? if AVB gets the job then it could happen {Ed002's Note - I think the suggestion might be that financially it may be difficult.}

Putting two and two together. We're getting AVB and AVB was successful with the "for sale" Falcao..

BthekingB

21 May 2012 22:52:20
AVB will be announced as manager on either thursday or friday.

FSG have spoken to AVB and they want to meet him tomorrow, if everything goes smoothly he should be unveiled on either thursday or friday.

Just passing on what i hear.

Thank You,

21 May 2012 22:45:01
AS reporting Liverpool are interested in Falcao. Not even gonna bother asking is there any chance if this happening coz I know what the answer is gonna be, just passing on the rumour!

What do you mean mate?

Nah iv herd that one to mate was it on twitter?

If it's on twitter then it must be true.

Yes, now let's start with the rumour of Moutinho, Alvaro Pereira, Rolando, Hulk, Falcao and James Rodriguez joining us. I can see it's coming soon!

21 May 2012 22:36:23
Heard rodgers has made a u turn and is set to be named tomorrow

His price has gone down on Sky Bet. Think his third favourite now.I hope this ain't true. One good season don't make a manager.

21 May 2012 20:47:19
Question Eds.. do we have any interest in Jovetic and would he consider us?

Rafa did back in 2010 but i don't think we have anymore, This correct ed's ?

We have no manager to buy players

21 May 2012 20:39:09
Eds, do you know if we will still be pursuing Gaston Ramirez now that Kenny has left?

21 May 2012 21:50:46
Can we get Jose Leonardo Ulloa?

21 May 2012 21:50:28
My uncle is a member of ground staff at melwood and he said the rumour there is that Suarez is set to join juventus with elia going the other way with Liverpool receiving 20million euros. True or not, ur guess as good as mine. Also rafa and Capello are not to be considered due to age. Laudrup deschamps, avb and Martinez are all set for interviews next week in Monaco.

Our best player for a winger who failed miserably at Juve. Even with the 20 mil that's a horrible deal.

Deschamps has said he expects to be at marseille next season, and Suarez has said he ain't going anywhere so please, don't chat BS

I honestly wouldn't mind Laudrup.

Rafa is 52, Thats 11 years younger than John Henry and 10 younger than Tom Werner. Whats the obsession with young managers, are all the older managers now considered useless

They aren't saying old managers are useless they just want a long term fix not someone who sticks around for one season then bolts of somewhere else.

Wow...Suarez sold for 20m euro...and I thought things couldn't get worse...

21 May 2012 21:47:40
Agger and Skrtel are in negotiations with Ian Ayre regarding new contracts.

NT

What about suarez?

Haven't heard anything about Suarez yet, just heard that he wants to stay and may be in negotiations soon.

NT

21 May 2012 21:23:33
paul dalglish was on twitter before reckons avb gets the job also on twitter a guy spoke to rafa he said he wants the job not been approached thank god

Not true about Rafa, he wouldn't answer when asked if he had been approached, just said he really wanted the job and hopefully he gets it, he the only qualified candidate left, after Klopp, Guardiola & DeBoer turning us down.

21 May 2012 21:12:49
eds , do you think rafa will be interviewed? {Ed001's Note - probably not to be honest. Unless they struggle to get their chosen man in.}

Their chosen man seems like its gunna be someone s**t....avb, martinez this clubs going down hill again

There chosen man has turned them down,so it's plan b,or c,d,or maybe e,with the way fsg are handling things!

Which theres every chance will happen, rafa will get the job yet, bad times for liverpool

AVB!! Martinez!! Who is FSG advisors Alex Ferguson. Rafa is the only one capable of turning this club around and if FSG muck this up it will cost them MILLIONS

So people are happy if the club is managed by martinez and all the top players including the likes of agger, lucas, skrtel, pepe, johnson and suarez leave. let's bring roberto the 16th martinez.

21 May 2012 21:07:16

21 May 2012 21:00:43
Malky mackay is being interviewed on Thursday lads don't know whether he's the man for the job but I can assure you he is being interviewed this Thursday. I'm not going to say my dads cats mates uncles hamster told me like every other moron. All I'm saying is that this is from a decent relaible source.

Hilarious, i mean why bother ? seriously

Stop making carp up

I think u may be right bud I heard this too! Anyone else heard anything?

Where do you these beauts from???

Wouldn't mind him he's a good manager! I like him lads what everyone rekinnn?

I'm calling bulls**t.

TSP

I heard alex mcleish, Terry Connor and Steve kean are also in the running, interviews to commence on Thursday morning.

If this happens does anyone want two Season Tickets? How can you take anyone seriously with a name like 'Malky!!!!'

Its rubbish but dont forget he brought his Cardiff team (worth peanuts in comparrison to ours) to Wembley and took our millionaires to penalties!! A little respect due dont you think??

21 May 2012 20:30:58
I have just heard from a pretty decent source that AVB will be announced as the new Liverpool manager, some point tomorrow. I'm also hearing Suarez will be definitely gone? and Kuyt to stay... surprises me personally, anybody know any truth to this? I cant believe it until it happens personally, but trust the odd couple of you on here..

Hope it's true about Kuyt;

Its common knowledge that no interviews have taken place yet, many people close to the club are saying they will take place tomorrow and wednesday, so i would be very surprised but interesting couple of days ahead.

Luis Suarez has just asked if I'd like to watch a match at Anfield and then meet up with him so that he can give me one of his shirts...

Ok, it's a competition he has posted through facebook but it was just 9 minutes ago.

I think he's staying... ;-)

Yr talking rubbish and you have no idea yr just guessing.

Ok with everything except Suarez going.
Fsg are ripping the heart of the club out

I have heard that capello is nailed on

No you Have not as its not happening

This is going to happen, but maybe nearer to the weekend and Suarez will be sold to Italian team for 35M

I like how you said we would get avb tomorrow, even thou he did say he will not rush into a job.

Suarez is not going anywhere how many times do i have to tell you people

You are talking through your anus.

Fsg are only looking for a young manager! but if they can find someone special age won't matter, experience and honours will do:D

Suarez had just recently come out saying he is not looking to leave and y would u sell ur best player and then keep kuyt?? If ur gona chat sh!t, make it believable!

Same story with Suarez as it was with King. He wants to stay, but the Yanks will most probably look to sell him. I hope I'm wrong, though I'm pretty sure I ain't.

21 May 2012 20:09:09
I read that clubs like Juventus and AC Milan have tried to tap up Skrtel........

We should never deal with the these clubs in the near future again....We have the stronger league and better finances......

We should be in a position to say NO to the likes of AC Milan.......The way these clubs conduct their business is pretty poor.....Look at the way they have treated Aquilani....I know he has been poor...But in Italy...On one hand they say that players like Lavezzi would cost a minimum of 23-24 million but at the same wont pay 5 million for Aquilani....

As best we should avoid any trade with these clubs?

LiverBird

Agreed- its a disgrace the way aquillani has been treated by these clubs. And LFC in turn actually. Why is it the big European clubs seem to think they can bully the likes of us and Arsenal out of players. Happened with Masch to barcelona too.

All clubs including Liverpool tap up other clubs players and that is the harsh reality of football.

How about not trading with the likes of chelsea first. who cares who goes abroad does it really affect us..........no

All clubs including Liverpool tap up players to get the best deal and that is the harsh fact of football. Am sure Liverpool were warned or fined for tapping up Middlesbrough players 6 to 7 years ago.

21 May 2012 19:44:57
capello will be the new liverpool manager by the start of next week but it will cost as he wants money to rebuild the club.

cavanini...adam johnson.christian eriksen..and matt hummells will be the 4 players he wants to bring in.

1st for news

I wish

First news I have seen thats good. Hope you are right. Brilliant if we got those four and don't lose any of out top players.

Whats the six numbers for the lotto!

SHHHH no one knows about Cavanini yet. You don't have to tell the whole world.

Why would the likes of cavanini want to come to us, when we cant finish in top 4, iam not saying its rubbish i just think we need to be realistic

Eriksen is good, but I'd rather have Cavani than Cavanini. Cavanini didn't even score a goal this season.

Story should have been more realistic.
Otherwise, it is called a "dream".
btw, Capello, the famous Italian coach?
Oh come on, he is 65, older than JWH.
He won't be interested. JWH only wants young dude. :>

You'd be looking at an outlay of well over 100mil for that lot. on top of that hummels plays for the german champions so unlikely to move (unless madrid come calling apparently) - cavani courted by every top club in europe, will never go to liverpool.

this is so ridiculous that it is beyond fantasy, never going to happen. the only player who is an outside chance of joining is johnson and even then i think, given that he is at city, that he is unlikely to join us

Please post Eds,

I know that the manager needs to come first and then whoever it is will decide which players to bring in. There could be a sizeable transfer budget for our new manager. According to , Lille's director says there are 4 potential suitors for Eden Hazard at this point of time with United, City and Chelsea being three of them. Could we be the fourth team in for him as this could be a welcome for a new manager and would send a big signal to other rivals? Jan Vertonghen wants a move to Spurs (Europa League) above Arsenal (Champions League) so could we tempt Hazard to join us with a world class manager? I know I'm being over optimistic but is it possble?

Red PG {Ed001's Note - nope, he is just a media whore.}

Even Hazard doesnt know where he's goin, last summer he wanted Liverpool, mid season he wanted Spurs, near end of season he wants City or Utd, now Chelsea have won Champs League, he wants Chelsea, he might be a good player, but he's not a player i would welcome to Liverpool with an attitude like that, who know's next season he might want to join someone else! Not worth it!

Carb

Well said Ed001, Hazard is indeed a media "whore", one week he wants to play in Spain, next week it's Arsenal or Tottenham, then it's Manchester ...it's all hype!

He will go to United irrespective of the advances made by City, Chelsea or the unnamed mystery fourth team ...Old Whisky nose played the psychological mind games some time ago by "buttering-up" the lad by way of a much publicised hand written "get well " letter (like Hazard would know what his hand writing actually looked like).

I bet he also promised him - XY and Z to boot.

I was waiting for some said fool ask this wake up will you! Your embarrassing!

I really wish people would shut up about Hazard. We finished 8th in the league, have no manager, DoF, and a pretty average team. Hazard is the most talented player on the move this summer. and will have his pick of any team. Why in the world would he come here? Answer - he wouldn't, and won't. Grow up and stop living in cloud cuckoo land, you Hazard-obsessed dreamers. We'll be hating the guy soon enough when he's playing for United or City.

If fsg want to take us back to the top
he's the type of player we need,
manu don't need him,mansour don't
need him,EDEN HAZARD would be a real
statement of intent but I guess our
"our owners want to run our club
propely".......not. I guess in a couple
of years these yanks will be run out
of town like the last two, give me a
abramovich, sheik mansour any day.

Nice 1 Ed, media whore, spot on

Got to be honest ed, that comment made me f*#k!nG crack up!
RedSox69

My mistake, hazard aint signed for utd, my "really funny" mate sent me a link from a fake man utd site (rnautd.com - after a few beers it does look like manutd haha)

21 May 2012 17:57:39
Balague said on twitter earlier today that Rafa has not been asked for an interview yet. I figure he'd know, considering they're mates and all.

McSnuggles

Balague never gets anything right he just back tracks. Cheers eds.jodethered

Balague also said Kenny would get one more season.

So did Macca, most people thought he would get another year.I would trust a world respected journalist than most of the muppets who come on here...with of course great exceptions to Macca and the Ed s .

If they are friends then surely he would respect him enough to not blab to the press.

He is the press, mate. Anything Rafa tells him, I'm sure he realizes ends up in the news-world.

McSnuggles

21 May 2012 17:50:14
Did rafa reject our approach like everyone else sept Martinez eds? {Ed001's Note - nope, Rafa would not reject it.}

Cheers for the reply

Hi Eds,

Sorry didn't one of you the other day tell us that Rafa had been interviewed?

thanks {Ed001's Note - I said he had been interviewed on Spanish radio, talking about how there was a chance he may return. Not interviewed for the job!}

Rafa stayed in the wirral new brighton i think he lives after he left inter i met him in birkenhead once said he and his family love the area and ppl and dosnt want to leave and he was hoping an opportunity the lfc job would become available to him one day as he feels its in his heart (his words) we also spoke about valencia and he said they have a half built stadium there that the natives are angry with as its an eye sore and they feel ruins the citys beauty. hav no clue what that has to do with lfc but there you go nice fella btw. CRAIG

We dont want Benitez back.He s a gobs**te.

Rafa lives in caldy on the Wirral not new brighton

Raffas the special one. the only man for the job. put liverpool back on the map, feared across europe

Ah cheers i could of swore it was new brighton my bad. CRAIG

21 May 2012 17:40:26
Just been hearing that Pacheco is returning to the club in the summer.
Personally i'm pleased, hopefully he'll be given a chance throughout pre-season, if not he should be loaned out to a promoted club.

Also, guys lay off Macca will you?

It's beyond a joke the criticism he's received on here, you should be grateful he posts valuable information he receives!
Dan

If pacheco is not good enough then why loan him out?

Norwich have formally approached LFC to buy him. Don't think we should sell him, loan him to them for another year again and see if he's up to the Premier League.

Such a overated player

I didn't say he was good enough, for all you know we could buy another attacker or 2, and he'll need 1st team football, if he is to develop
Dan

My god he got 11 minutes in the season at real valeycano does it sound like hes good enough for us

Man crush

21 May 2012 16:55:07
spoken to a friend who's dad is on the burnley fc board, who has recently spoken to David whelan. Whelan apparently said Martinez to liverpool was a done deal...this was 7 days ago, hours after I heard this info king kenny was sacked.....

Why only say something now then haha ?

If it was done before kennys departure was announced surely it would have been announced by now.CRAIG

Then why hasn't it been released yet, and why are they still saying lfc are considering another 10 possible managers?!

So you knew 7 days ago but decided to post now......riiiight

Why didnt u posted it then asap, or do you need a week to process what you hear.

This is bulls**t of the highest order

21 May 2012 16:44:38
Hi eds who do you honestly think will be manager? Not gonna get some big name as they all keep snubbing us e.g boer {Ed001's Note - no idea.}

They know that benitez has been given the job already. FSG looking to show they have spread the net long and hard, so that it doesn't seem a sentimental signing.

So now we have 3 definite managers, AVB,Rafa and Martinez. Should be fun.

You can't say the 'R' word on here, Ed01 will blow a valve. Oh no, 2012 is so bright and scary you guys, let's stay trapped in the 1970's. Yeah, look how that worked out last year. Thank God for Macca.

Don't think we being snubbed mate. They been asked for interviews that it. Problem is with these candidates coming from clubs on the up then outwardly excepting interviews does seem very direspectful to there clubs. Don't blame them...maybe if the job was offered they maywell except it!

21 May 2012 16:37:30
eds, any chance os klas jan huntelaar? top class would we have any chance of gettig him? {Ed001's Note - doubtful.}

Sorry have i missed something!? didnt know "eds" was new manager!! how the hell would he know??
as we have no manager yet, we cant know what his targets will be!

Those days are gone .why would he want to come here in our current plight..carlton cole maybe..

21 May 2012 16:33:52
Sky Sports News:
Ajax boss Frank de Boer has ruled himself out of the running to take over as Liverpool manager, insisting he wants to stay in Amsterdam.

Another one bites the dust.

John barnes and jason macateer were a good team at tranmere

21 May 2012 16:10:45
Jamie Carragher has just been outside the Met Quarter in town with his wife. Just spoke to him (didn't have a pen for an autograph) asked him about who he thinks will be manager. Said he had no idea, I said what you think of AVB or Rafa, he said he'd love to work with AVB because he's an excellent young manager.

Big kev powell

He was fond of Hodgson too.

Top player, Carra, but I wonder about his taste in managers.

Sooooooo...the point of your post was....exactly....nothing??

Not even a camera phone eh to get a photograph, technology these days.

Only because if Rafa gets the job he's not likely to be part of his coaching team :)
If you believe half of the rumours he had a hand in Rafa's exit.

Interesting he didn't say anything about Rafa...

In his book he said he loved Rafa and was his favourite manager he worked under so would be strange

The only way he will be working with him is as a training coach

21 May 2012 16:01:17
Hello Liverpool Rumours readers. Many of the press are currently reporting that the majority of intrest of fsg is fueled towards AVB and Martinez. However, from inside knowledge at boardroom level, sources have indicated to me that it is infact a small caliber manager that will be appointed. Further but unreliable sources have hinted that the nationality of this manager will not be European but of the Asian Continent. Watch this space...

8SiuPong

Haha nice try, not gonna happen

Yup and according to the same sources the Marsian Tourism Board want naming rights to the new stadium.

TB

Oh, finally a rumour I can believe in! This is definitely happening. We're signing a manager from the J-league... Sumo Allardychee... {Stan}

If it was martinez or avb then it WOULD be a small calibre manager. You're talking out of your sausage roll mate.

Yeah I've heard Ken Hom has been shortlisted.

Stop talking absolute rubbish.

I think AvB WOULD DO A GOOD JOB

Only Asian person i know with a uefa license is bal singh but think he works with youth acadamys is this who you mean? does the eds know if there are many asian managers likely or eligible to manage Liverpool? apologies if im being ignorant im just honestly not as clued in on asian football as i would like to be cheers CRAIG

Unlikely.

Don't be an idiot

Yeah funny your name seems Asian too. Wishful thinking? I think so mate.

Are there any amazing asian managers that you know of Eds? {Ed001's Note - none.}

This is true, his name is Win Wan Soon.

I have it on good authority that this is correct. Manager to be unveiled this week is none other than Lucy Lui with Cameron Diaz as assistant manager. Drew Barrymore to take up youth team role.

Hope its the korean, win wan sun, hes recommended by ken aguero!

Jackie chan favourite

Well given some of the names being bandied about I wouldn't be surprised if the owners did appoint some no-mark, non credentialed "coach" from Asia ... the owners want a non interfering "yes" man, who won't demand money to spend and will be happy with their sell to buy policies.

21 May 2012 15:52:16
Capello for Liverpool. that is the name people sying here in Italy.

roman-red

Your right, Capello has been in deep conversations with Roy Hodgson about the club, rumour has it he will be interviewed tomorrow, interesting few days ahead.

That is Capello that publicly slagged Carroll off, pretty much calling him nothing but a drunk! Hmm, cant see that one somehow!

Any chance he could be arsed to learn the English language before he takes over?

Capellos age does not fit with the FSG criteria,

To be quite honest, I couldn't understand what Kenny was saying half the time; I don't think Fabio understands what he's saying most of the time; we ought to invest in a manager we can understand

Well he fits FSG policy of being a young
Experienced manager
MonkeyTheRed

Hope not he can't even speak a word of English

Nah too expensive. That guy wants one last pay day before he retires. Hence his interest in Chelsea.
RealisticRed

Capello would be a bad appointment. Can't speak a word of English. Might as well have one of the clangers as manager.

Gaz1975.

Love Gaz1975's response - spot on and funniest post of the day!!

Unless the italians are further evolved than us and have developed psychic powers then i will not look too much into it

I know he's not popular, but he's got the best track record in Europe. Won in Italy with 3 different clubs, 2 spells at Real. I doubt he'll be offered the post, but I cannot think of another manager that will maintain stability like KK did.

21 May 2012 14:49:18
News on stadium expected to be released very soon. Looks like Air China will be the sponsors of our new stadium

NT

Im trying to search your moniker NT, but cant search using only 2 characters. Do you have any previous form NT?! What is your claim based on?.....

Cheers

Red G

I think NT's source is anfieldforum a few days ago...Well, that's what a google search suggested!

There was reports on a swedish liverpool fan site called svenskafans.com that air international china were about to bid 350 million for the naming rights soon

Air China used to be called C.A.A.C. They changed the name because of their shocking safety record. China Airways Aways Crash!!!
Hopefully they have improved.

Re: air china crash record: I grew up in hong kong and the old airport runway extended into the harbour...china airlines had a tendency to miss the runway!
Paul Mc

If they missed the runway they'd be perfect sponsor for our players who had a tendency to miss the target last season!

eds has aqualani come back i think we need him dont think he had anough time to settle when he was here?

many thanks {Ed002's Note - Not yet.}

Not yet. Does that mean he will be? {Ed002's Note - No necessarily.}

He doesn't want to play for us!!!

Aqulliani is awful

I think that was the point - that he didn't settle here. He's too delicate for English football!
RealisticRed

I think aqualani coming back is the least of our worries at the mo, dont you mate.

It would be funny if Rafa came back and that waste of space Aqualani was still at the club ?

I'd take adam over him

Hey got some news,
There will be no concrete news (officially from the club) on the Liverpool fc new manager till Friday or monday at the latest that is coming from the club. Last set of interviews will be completed tomorrow. The three contenders for the job are avb, martinez and laudrup. we've had 6 managers reject us. for an interview. Can't say who will be appointed till interviews are finished.
(himesh)

I thought martinez going to aston villa? Singred

Officially on what website or radio station
did this news come to pass?

Out of them 3 I want RAFA!

Any chance we might have somebody in charge before the start of the season or is that expecting too much?

Laudrup please!

Fed up of the I WANT RAFA brigade! Can you search Rafas signings online and see how much rubbish he bought (and the top players he sold!). We do not want Rafa back!

Weather you like him or not add Capello to that list, I just hope he doesn`t get it!
:(

I had a little search mate. List of players is quite extensive due to all the wheeling and dealing he had to do (for instance, couldnt afford Torres until Bellamy was sold)

The boss players he should be remembered for are:
Torres
Alonso
Reina
Arbeloa
Skrtle
Agger
Masherano
Johnson
Sissoko
Crouch
Bellamy
Kuyt
Garcia

You get my drift... Just never signed a couple of good wingers (did try with Gonzales but he couldnt adapt to the english game unfortunately)

LANDRUP?
My 3 would be AVB, Redknapp and Guardiola

I love the calls for Laudrup, de Boer, emery, etc and not Martinez, AVB who actually have premier league experience. Lets be honest we all know their names, their clubs etc but we know nothing about them as managers as we don't see them week in week out. We don't see their tactics, their interviews or how they interact with players so how can we say we want them instead of people like Martinez. Look at our recent signings the majority of them have premiership experience and I would be shocked if they didn't follow this trend whilst appointing a manager. Personally I think we are in danger of making the job very difficult for whoever gets the job with our expectations and fan pressure. Chances are it will be Martinez and we need to get behind him. I must admit I would be underwhelmed but lets face it that is the level we are at right now unfortunately.
RealisticRed

Im getting sick and tired of people saying rafa bought rubish there either clueless about football or have some serious grudge against rafa 9 out of 10 of his signings were first class every manager makes the odd mistake in signings and if it wasnt for hicks and gillet we could have seen the likes of mata silva and villa here

To the poster above. Martinez. This is definately not where we are at the moment. Everyone is being so pessimistic. There can only be 32 managers in the Champions League. Then you have Redknapp, Moyes, Deschamps, AVB, Capello, etc. We are in the Europa League, have a great history, some great players with new signings that will only improve. We won a cup and got to the FA Cup Final. Since Chelsea won the CL it is a fact that the 4th place that everyone holds up to be the threshold of "Success" would not have delivered Champions League football anyway. Martinez had 5 good weeks at the end of the season. His team beats the big teams regularly and struggles with the teams from 7th place down. Aren't we already doing this ourselves? The reason Martinez and Whelan are being so vocal in the press is because they can't believe their luck. Whelan for compo and Martinez because he doesn't deserve it. We are in a completely different place than Martinez.

Out of those 3. Laudrup first choice, then AVB, then Martinez.

sjb76

Laudrup all day long, the man is a legend in the world game and when allowed to get on with it does a good job! might even get us eriksson from Ajax

In response to the guy that responded to me! You are right in what you say however What I am saying is because of our expectations as fans it would be detrimental to a managers career to take us on right now. We want success immediately but we don't have the squad or the resources right now to compete for cl. It would be a dog fight to compete for Europa league spots. The league is that strong right now. We are too impatient as fans and we would turn on that manager. That is why I think they keep turning us down. Amongst other reasons of course. Martinez might not be such a bad shout. I could be very wrong but I think that the owners are surprised with how little return they have had on their investment and will now look to sort out the stadium in the hope of increasing revenue whilst reducing how much they spend in transfer windows. Martinez is used to working with a tight budget whilst playing good football. But hey if i'm wrong i'll change my name to PessimisticRed!
RealisticRed

Rafa isn't going to be interviewed. They have already gone back once to Kenny and do not want to repeat the process. Martinez hasn't gone to Villa he just had his interview or is having it today. laudrup is unlikely due to lack of big club experience my guess is AVB who will be confirmed on Monday. He hasn't had an interview yet though should be by tomorrow!

Unfortunately AVB is massively overrated, has achieved by little, and the experience at Chelsea is unlikely to have suddenly changed him into a good tactician or man manager. He is probably the worst choice we could make, and a genuine candidate to follow Kenny within a year.

Sam Kennedy

Is it true this guy is running the show for Liverpool FC?

Is this true?

No he is the President of one of FSG's companies called Fenway Sport Management, which is the marketing arm of FSG {Ed001's Note - and runs the Red Sox.}

Cheers

Macca

Thanks Macca great work keep it up.

Cheers macca ive not been 1 of your doubters there usually anon and ppl should realize that if you dont get it right dosnt mean it weren't right at the time of your post as with everything things constantly change. CRAIG

Cheers macca , as usual your only thinking and trying ur best for us ! never mind all the haters !

Thanks Macca,

Appreciate your hard work. You dont need to justify yourself to any doubters here as far as Im concerned.

Hope you are right. Im staying positive and think that FSG will surprise us and pull a big name out of the hat. In my mind, Mourinho remains a possibility but if that fails, I would love to see Michael Laudrup appointed.

Cheers...

Red G

Cheers Macca, i think anyone on here with any sense appreciates any info you can share. ravenrudeboy

Cheers mate

Thanks Macca. I appreciate all your posts mate, accurate or otherwise. Thanks for it, keep it up!

I'm guessing you "former player who works on sky" is Jamie Redknapp?

Thanks for the info Macca. It will always be appreciated by me at least :)

Reid the Red

No reason to out your sources Macca. Thank you for the info you pass along.

Macca, i only started paying real attention to this site about a year ago when a couple of your predictions were spot on, since then i come on the site around 10 times a day looking for any update from you, however, recently your posts seem to get my hopes up but then they turn out to not happen, im not saying im not gratefull for your input, but maybe you could stick to posting rumours that have a bit more substance and legs to them?

Well said Macca i for one believe wot u tell us , dont worry about the doubters mate ....

No need to say who you know if people dont believe you thats up to them

keep posting

Fair play macca, you shouldnt have to justify what you say on here, Its a rumour site after all, If you post something people should either choose to beleive it, skip past it or even just take on baord the info and make allowances for the chances of things changing. Thanks to anyone who posts what they have been told no matter who and where it comes from.

I love you Macca!.. No really.

Macca between yourself and the Ed's, all of the info ye all get is unreal... obviously things with liverpool can change quickly, and yet u still manage to keep us all updated, always look out for your posts macca.. True gent:) And well done to all the ed's even with all the stick ye get

SullyRed YNWA

I - and many, many of us LFC - appreciate your info a great deal Macca. We are all desperately anxious to see the club back in the Champions League and, eventually, winning the Premiership and Euro Cup and sometimes this manifests itself in the responses. But your info is massively appreciated bu us all.

On a personal note. Given the situation I would want Rafa Benitez to comeback.

We need a manager with balls of steel, stubborness and tactical skill to upset the odds against the various billionaires and their expensively assembled chess pieces.

Remeber: if we all had the same money, LIverpool would win everything due to our passion, fan base, heritage and club culture.

At the moment we live in times where these values cannot count for eveyrthing, but one day we will sing 'You'll Nver Walk ALone' very loudly and Chelsea will be an averagely supported mid-table team supported by absolute bankers once again.

2005 - 1 million fans at the parade.
2012 - 200, 000 attending the alternative to the Chelsea Flower Show.

There is so much negativity on here its untrue. I believe the owners do want the best interests for the club

Macca,
What is your latest information about the stadium plans

Thanks heaps, Macca! Some people just don't appreciate a good thing when they see it. Singred

It"s not called Liverpool rumours site for nothing,keep up the good work Macca

Thanks macca!

Sincere thanks Macca, you don't have to do any of this yet you still do and it's very much appreciated.

Macca your to honest for your own good m8 you tell us wot you hear even if cross wires wot your heard before you might hear wot players board members staff etc say or they here but only 100% will cum jwh office in USA and even then as you know things can change at last hour even last min in football agents calling asking offering demanding keep up good work keep the faith and if wot you sed about kk I'm glad go gone for his own health and family very stressful football at the top and at his age well he answer are SOS now hope he can relax then cum bk in sum role coz he should have job for life at lfc long live the king wot you sat means a lot to most on hear so keep it up my mate all the best YNWA lfc linc

Keep up the good work, ignore the doubters, too many fans want more info than is available, whoever the manager will be he will need all our support, Rome wasn't built in a day

Keep up the good work Macca, always on the lookout to read your posts.
DC70

Love reading the site, plenty of food for thought and even a couple of laughs.

Cheers for the update macca

Hello macca first time i have asked you anything. do you think its to early for rodgers to be asked to manage lfc. i mean he hasn't got enough experience at prem. level let alone a big club like liverpool. i would much rather have a young manager that has won something in a top league.
buddy's lfc

Thanks for all your efforts Macca, no need to prove yourself, i am hanginh on and praying for an outcome to this before we get into total dissarray. Keep up the good work, real fans love your work and your opinions! Mick in Ireland

Macca you dont have to explain you sources any info you post is very much appreciated, keep up the good work. YNWA

Thanks Macca. Like others have said, no need to explain, just except some of us appreciate you are only trying to help and know you must have sources close to the club. People will always say otherwise, maybe that just don't like what you say. Don't let the few spoil it for the many. Keith

Macca,

don't apologise. You are one of the very few people on here, apart from the EDs, who post credible stuff.

Gaz1975.

Macca,
I simply appreciate the rumours which are realistic and positive.
You don't have to explain yourself to anyone, just keep the info coming buddy.

Ed's any chance of lavezzi of Napoli? He's absolute quality and has a buy out clause of €31.if we signed him we would make top four easily next season.

Ive got £31 il go get him for us lol. CRAIG {Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - There is interest in Lavezzi from several clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea, Juventus, Zenit, PSG and particularly Inter and AC Milan. I think it would take a very high cash offer - more than 30M euros, some trading or a third-party ownership deal bid to get Napoli to sell the player who is unwilling to extend his existing contract which runs to 2015. Inter have offered 15M euro plus Marco Faraoni, Goran Pandev and Joel Obi but that offer is not acceptable to Napoli.}

First find a manager mate, then dream about it :)

Nobody with any credibility will sign,until we have a manager in place!
So first things first,and then let's see how much fsg we let him spend,and I have my doubts,that will wont be seeing any £30m players coming in,any time soon!!

His buy-out clause is 31 million euros according to the commentator on espn last night,also reckons it was his last game,with psg interested,would really boost everyone if we got him.ps Chelsea have no permanent manager and have signed Marin and are in for hazard

21 May 2012 12:57:03
Luis Suarez £30million
Martin Skrtel £13m
Maximiliano Rodriguez £5m
Glen Johnson £14m
Dirk Kuyt £8m

Alberto Aquilani
Joe Cole
Fabio Aurelio £1.5m
All these players could walk from the club.

Our team next year:
Renia
Jose Enrique
Jamie Carragher
Sebastian Coates
Daniel Agger
Jordan Henderson
Charlie Adam
Steven Gerrard
Stewart Downing
Andrew Carroll
Craig Bellamy

They could really strip the squad of quality players.

No Lucas then?

Kuyt has a clause and can go for £1 million, no way will we get £5 million for maxi and aurelio will be released so now money for him either

13mil for skirtel 8 mil for dirk seems a little ambitious

Dirk kuyt for 8 mil

If you think we will get £8m for Kuyt, you must be the source or the Cavani to Liverpool rumours. Please stop now.

We're do ya get ya prices from. kuyt is worth 2m maxi-1m aurelio is free to leave come on mate I have heard a little rumour tho of Chelsea coming in for Johnson van der wiel is there preferred choice but they may make a move for glen at around 12m which I don't think we would turn down

I love the way you have rated our players, are you honestly telling me someone is going to pay 14 million for glen johnson? and skrtel our best player this season going for only 13 mil? i may believe suarez is going and also rodriguez but seriously you think we will get 5 mil for him aswell? dont know what you been smoking but i want some of that sh*t!!!!!!!!!!

Why would we sell 5 players without replacing them?

Seriously, you think we would sell ALL those players and NOT bring anybody in?!
Also not sure where you are getting your figures from, Maxi and Dirk can leave for a lot less than what you are quoting. Until a new boss has been named calm your skins and wait and see.
Let's also ALL stop the Yank bashing. These are not Gillett and Hicks remember?

So we would sell all these players and not sign anyone as replacements? Also, your valuations are way off in some cases

Where's Lucas?

Ah, we're selling an established international centre half, who by common consent among pundits, has had his finest season for the club. And we are only charging £13million?
A bit bemused by your valuation.

Ummmmmmmmm if we could get the figure's above for players, then sell sell sell. (apart from Saurez)

redphil

Lucas Leiva? Henderson is awful.

We would get no where near the figures you've quoted for these players, Kuyyt would be a 3 mil tops and prob less for maxi, unrealistic to say the least

No place for Lucas in your unbalanced team?

The negativity of people on these boards is unbelievable! Singred

I hope your name has not been shortlisted by the FSG!

Such utter b*ll*cks! You really don't live in the real world!!

Cowboys v2.0
We're less football club/"brand", more horror film.

Could you please let me know who you are selling Kuyt and Maxi to?

I have an old laptop here they'd probably pay a million for.

So we are not signing anybody then!!!

So we are going to sell or release all these players and not bother to replace them...what planet are you on dude?

Someones being playing to much FIFA I think

If this is our team for next season then we are finshed as a prem side Stewart downing and Charlie adam should be sold ASAP

Really? You really expect anyone with half a brain to believe you? apart from your valuations being way off the mark on all counts, you missed out Lucas, who presumably you would have put in the sold pile, then you forgot to mention that the money generated by the sales would be reinvested. Please go back to celebrating your teams greatest achievement for 7 years.

When i saw this post, i couldn't wait to read the comments... only aureliio can 'walk' because he is finished his contract. the rest are still in contract and can not just leave, they would have to be sold... and i dont thinkt the owners are going to buy a club and sell all the players in it.

Not a bad team
However Suarez and Glen Johnson are needed!

What a ridiculous post. As if we'd recoup £70 mill from those players, and then not bring anybody in. Fool.

Hey John Henry why are you tellling everyone your plans for next season on here?

Really get a grip, our team wont be that good as long as FSG are in control..........

7 players out and no signings.........yeah right

So we'll get 70 million but sign no new players? stop posting s**t

21 May 2012 12:43:41
Macca...I have never asked any question...this is my 1st question and wouldn't bother u again...WHAT IS THE SITUATION WITH SUAREZ...plz let us know...plz plz plz I m very concerned

I have no idea mate, sorry.

I believe he is pretty happy here.

If he goes it will be down to the owners rather than him.

Cheers

Macca

Wrangling over the value of the player. No club wants to match lfc valuation of the player, but the club are open to selling any player if they meet the clubs valuation including Gerrard.

The other half of the question is if the player wants to leave.

This made me laugh, bless 'em.

Why....what up? does he owe you money that you need to get back before he skips town?

There is a pretty strong rumour that Standard Chartered were about to sign off on a £150m stadium naming deal before the whole racism thing erupted. Since then shareholders have questioned the value of the current sponsorship deal given our mediocrity and the bad press. So it looks like that deal will never be back on the table, but the owners may think selling Suarez could help change minds.

Also Marca have been reporting Suarez wants to come to Spain. Typically they have totally taken his words out of context. He said something along the lines of "yea la liga is one of the top 3 leagues in the world of course it would be nice to play there at some stage in the future" before saying how much he's looking forward to the next season with Liverpool and only thinking about that.

Given the words that came from Fernando before he left I take everything with a pinch of salt. However it looks like if Suarez leaves it will be the owners decision, not the players and it will be a monetary decision, not ethical, despite probable comments saying otherwise.

21 May 2012 14:28:08

21 May 2012 12:37:53
A lot of news regarding seydou doumbia, & I know there's no manager but is he a possibility? {Ed002's Note - There was an enquiry from Newcastle and a failed offer from Lazio in January for Doumbia. Other clubs have had scouts at games but that is some way from making any serious enquiries for the player. Doumbia does a good job of talking himself up and CSKA will likely want £25M or so for the player as there is no pressure to sell. Roma are interested in the player but have yet to make any financial proposal and unconfirmed rumours persist of interest from Chelsea and Spurs.}

Oh oh oh isnt that the fast dude on fifa

I'm sceptical of signing players from the Russian leagues as its not the best league in the world anthem usually fail to deliver however skrtel being the exception

21 May 2012 12:31:58
Just for some clarity and understanding.

If Liverpool did get a bid for a player, at the soonest chance from a rival (say for Suarez), how would it be sorted with no manager in place?

Likewise if Liverpool were to bid for a player, (staying topical, let's say Nick Powell of Crewe) whilst having no manager in place, how would it likely be sorted, in the event the matter was time sensitive).

Would it be for Ian Ayre to see over or FSG ?

Thanks Ed's

Ollieston {Ed002's Note - Tom Werner would deal with any communication about transfers.}

How/why on earth would we buy anyone without a manager or director of football!??
if someone wants to go then thats a different matter and TW would consider.

21 May 2012 12:25:56
liverpool need a winger. kuyt too slow because of his age.. they must find a quality player for $30M budget. Adam johnson or Afellay is solution on right wing because liverpool need a pace player. Steven defour 1 of the creative midfield liverpool must keep looking. For striker position I think shane long have a criteria if he combined with suarez. Liverpool will be a good team if they can catch these quality player on 30M budget..

Just hasn't played

Adam Johnson would be great
I'd go for Clint Dempsey as well

Someone like holiett or Moses would be suitable at the moment for me

21 May 2012 11:18:01
From 1 to 10 what are the chances of Rafa Benitez being the next Liverpool manager Ed's?

Dave {Ed001's Note - 1.}

Why do so many people want Raffa back!! he lost the plot towards the end! ok he did not have the backing of the owners but some of his decisions and his tactics toward there end were all wrong! does the situation with Dalglish not prove a point hat we should not be going backwards again but moving on and getting someone in with new ideas and move us in the right direction forwards not backwards again

I have been undecided on wether I would want Rafa back or not but when I think about the other possible managers I think he would be the least risky and the best condidate. He is still young for a manager, knows the club, knows the league and will surely have learned from the mistakes he made last time. I am nervous about anyone else being mentioned, no matter what achievements they have had abroad. Also, looking on Rafa's website at the coaching schools etc he is involved with he is still very much involved. FSG BRING BACK RAFA!

Really only 1? I thought he had as good a chance as any of the managers being considered? {Ed001's Note - not right now, though it could change if all the others keep ruling themselves out.}

Macca and eds, Do you know FSG give the interview opportunity to Rafa as they do not want to upset majority of lfc fans too much? {Ed001's Note - no, it is because he is available.}

Rafa is the best choice, in my opinion. Not that's it's worth much mind you.

I think he'd do us well and make us solid. He knows half the team (better half n all). He'll be able to swing a bargain or two in Spain i'm sure and he'd inspire a lot of confidence again.

Carragher said Liverpool need a strong manager. I think that's Rafa.

Ollieston.

He has to be no1 candidate he has a decent domestic record brilliant European record an excellent cv great tactically an he lives in the area he out of work an he wants the job. Martinez an avb are both viable options but Martinez is yet to prove what he can do gaining a Promotion and keeping a side in the league are hardly brilliant credentials although I do like the guy it might be 3-5 years early an as for avb he seems favourite now he has far to little experience as a manager he has barely had 100 games in management an we want him to come to us when we need stability. No rafa is the answer get him back 2 year deal nx season top 6 season after top for season after top 2 steady progress with guaranteed investment this is not a time for taking chances we need tried an tested an rafa fits the bill. Open your eyes

Why would any club pay millions of pounds to sack a manager and then hire him back a couple of years later?

He is the man for this task, I am sure if he got an interview they would get it .

However they will not, I suspect becuase of Purslow and Ian.

Actually 8/1 not 10/1, if you read the bookies betting!

Well gents, there are 3 managers we're sure are interested (Rafa, Laudrup & Martinez) and another 1 (Villas-Boas) presumed interested.

Laudrup, Villas-Boas and Martinez have won the following between them:

1 Portuguese League
1 Portuguese Cup
1 Portuguese SuperCup (Community Shield)
1 Europa League
1 English Football League One Championship
1 Danish SuperLeague
2 Danish Cups
2 Danish Super Cups

Rafa Benitez has won the following by himself:

1 Spanish Second Division
2 Spanish La Ligas
1 UEFA Cup
1 UEFA Champions League
1 FA Cup
1 UEFA Super Cup
1 FA Community Shield
1 Italian Super Cup
1 FIFA World Club Cup

It should be a no brainer, imo.

Totally agree with bringing back Rafa, I just can't see any better options. He is so much more experienced than AVB or Martinez and would have more respect from the players. His job at the minute is coaching top coaches ffs! He did make mistakes towards the end of his last stint but surely someone that wants so much to do the job will learn from them and come back a better manager? He wants the job and is the best man for it and the fans already love him. Do FSG read these sites?

There is no way rafa would work under the constrants of the proposed system changes. simply relegated from a manager to a coach with limited input into other areas, from hiring/firing staff to scouting his own players. he'd hate it after a while. he doesnt fit the bill for FSG.

Purslow doesn't work for the club anymore, but it's possible that Ayre would advise against it.

If Fsg really want to win he is the man..its a no brainer considering the likes of jose ,pep,klopp & loads of other world class managers ruling themselves out or being unavailable..way way better than martinez or avb or whoever else tactically,magnificent in the transfer market while buying big,strong discipline & plays to WIN..
Looking backwards? kenny's was an emotional decision but rafa is a proven winner,lfc through & through deserves a real chance with good owners more than anybody else..
now ED that was a typo error, no? i think u meant a 0 behind that 1.. {Ed001's Note - why? Because you are seriously deluded and forgot just how low he brought us? Strong discipline? He allowed Carragher and Gerrard to run the damn club! Why are people so blind and stupid when it comes to Rafa?}

Rafa's career since 2001 = 1 x Spanish 2nd division title. 2 x Spanish 1st division title. 1 x UEFA Cup. 1 x Spanish Supercup. 1 x European Cup. 1 x FA Cup. 1 x UEFA Super Cup etc.... I thought this club was supposed to have the most knowledgable fanbase in the world? From what I've seen from the sacking of this bloke and the subsequent drivel on here, we are rapidly developing without doubt the stupidest fanbase on earth. What the heck do you people want?? Rafa was sacked because Ian Ayre hates him and the reason he was sacked was because he refused Carra a new contract, so Carra and Stevie did him in, despite what crud you read on here. His win ratio was second only to Sir Bob for goodness sake and he still won't do for some of you! We're the laughing stock of the world right now and this guy is sitting at home down the road watching our club implode just like I am and thinking "just what on earth do these people want?" If any of you out there can name a single manager who is more successful and perfect for LFC than this man then away you go because I despair. It's clear he won't get the job and isn't wanted and if that is the case then I no longer understand the club that I've loved every day for 34 of my 41 years. I thought bringing Kenny back by popular demand would have taught you Rafa haters a lesson but you've learned nothing. We should be BEGGING the guy to return and kissing his feet. Are we just going to keep starting again every 5 years or so and failing every time? ****wits. {Ed001's Note - give it a rest, you have no idea. He was sacked because he failed. He washed the club's dirty linen in public purely because he wanted more money to spend, when he had already spent too much putting us in trouble. People are so deluded and idiotic when it comes to Rafa and then try and claim they are knowledgeable! Embarrassing post this is.}

Why would any club pay millions of pounds to sack a manager and then hire him back a couple of years later? - Oh I don't know, to learn from their insane mistake? What's more important to you, a few quid or LFC? {Ed001's Note - LFC, which is why I don't want Rafa anywhere near the club.}

He may be the only 1 left to consider if every 1 keeps turning us down

Ed01 - You clearly hate Rafa and you're entitled to your opinion but I won't call you names like "embarrassing" etc for your opinion; rather I'll respect your right to disagree with me and the many fans who love the guy and want him back. I just wish rather than constantly arguing with people you could post something contructive to support your point of view. {Ed001's Note - oh don't talk crap, you were insulting people who were against Rafa, now you are whining. Give it a rest, I have posted hundreds of reasons why anyone wanting Rafa back is deluded by the nonsense the guy talked. Without Pako Ayesteran, Rafa is not even a good manager, let alone this great that some deluded people would have us believe. He overspent and nearly put the club into administration, he overspent at Valencia and caused them no end of problems too.}

Ed01 - Are you Tony Evans? {Ed001's Note - am I balls.}

Wow Ed001, do you really think his chances are THAT high....lol. I think it much more likely that Hell will freeze over. For me it is only between BR and AVB (even though BR has said he would not leave his current position)...I'd love them to surprise me though ;)

Ed001 just because you don't want Rafa back I don't think that is any cause to go on a rant and tell other LFC fans that they are 'idiotic' and lacking any knowledge. Are you some kind of football guru that knows everything there is to know? Who would you have instead? come on, show your hand..... {Ed001's Note - I have said a hundred times who I want, and I am sick of nameless tools like you whining on about Rafa day after day like a lovelorn teenager crying about their first crush. Move on, grow some balls and get on with it.}

Ed 001 is that true what you said? I for one want Rafa back - not because I'm deluded but because he is the best (in my opinion) on the list of names currently connected with us. He was reasonably successful, but to be honest at the end his interviews were cringe-worthy and Roy with his almost too honest approach was a breath of fresh air! (at first) Also what's your gut feeling about who'll we appoint?

Thanks for your time
{Ed001's Note - I don't think there is a chance in hell it will be Rafa, the only way that will happen is if nobody else will take it.}

If there were "like" and "dislike" buttons in this page like facebook, I would have pressed thousand dislikes to ed01's comments on Rafa.. lolz

Ed001, even I am thinking you have a personal issue with Rafa. I mean look at his record of cups won. How he kept us among the top teams in Europe, competing aginst the Reals, Barca, Manu, Chelsea, Juve, Inter and AC Milans etc

With Rafa, we always had a chance, even with Djimie Traore on the left! no offence, Djim but you were not the greatest... {Ed001's Note - with Pako Ayesteran, yes, but without him he is simply not good enough.}

I don't understand why so many fans want rafa back, yes he done great things for Liverpool but he also did things to cause us to drop out of the champions league such as causing alonso

"with Pako Ayesteran, yes, but without him he is simply not good enough"

Fair enough, especially if you have close links with current/ex players who were involved during the day-to-day training sessions or pre-match planning

It may be that if he were to return, FSG will ensure there is a capable assistant/coach to help him be what he was those few years back. Personally, I'm not bothered who we get as long as they are winners and have respect

Ed001 I am not a 'nameless tool' and have not whined on about Rafa every day, today was the first time I posted about him. I have weighed up our other options and can't see a better candidate "in my opinion" and thats not to say Rafa is the perfect answer, just don't think anyone else is either. AVB would be a disaster, Martinez and Rodgers have both had one good season (after a few very bad ones in Rodgers case). To be honest your arrogant, self important responses and insults to the fans show your one of those so called reds that think they know better than the rest. Doubt you will post this but there you go. See you at the match next year t*t. Mark H. {Ed001's Note - if you don't like it, don't read it, end of. Finishing off with a little dig like that just proves what a tit you are.}

Oh and Ed001, sorry I don't come on here to hang on your every word each day, so please tell me me for the 101st time, who do you want? Mark H. {Ed001's Note - read back through, I have said it enough.}

I'm sorry ed001 but those statements are just wrong! No journalist worth his salt, fans groups attributed blame for our demise at Rafa, he can't be held responsible for our previous owners poor credit rating- they gambled the cash not Rafa, he did his part by being competative with a net spend of £14m a season! I assume by your stance that you hold the likes of o'leary and redknapp responsible for the demise of Pompey and Leeds respectively then?
Whether you like Rafa or not the stuff you've come out with is no more blinkered than the most ardent of Rafa fans {Ed001's Note - the manager in charge knows the financial situation of the club, of course they have to accept their share of the blame. Redknapp has left a trail of clubs in severe financial difficulties, that alone should tell you that he is partly to blame. As for blaming H&G, yes they were at fault too, at fault for not having the money needed to keep Rafa happy.}

Ed's entitled to his opinion and there are plenty of reasons to be wary of bringing Rafa back. Not least of which is that he'll be divisive among the fans and potentailly divisive in the dressing room. On the topic of his spending, I thought he did as well as anyone could have in his position (ie. needing to buy 4-5 players for about £10-20m nett spend to retain enough squad depth to be in the top 4 season on season) until about 08-09, where, finally not needing to buy several players, he had a very bad transfer window with Keane and Dossena. And I don't think Barry would've made it that much better had he been able to get him.

On the subject of running clubs into the ground, if the manager, be he Redknapp, Rafa, O'Leary or whomever, is told he has X to spend by the board, and he spends X, I don't think it's his fault if the club then goes tits up. Boards shouldn't gamble on future revenue, there aren't guarantees that spending X will get you to position Y in football.

And as I said above, though. he's won more than the other managers we're being seriously linked with put together. I'd like a better option to present itself, but I just don't see Hiddink, Bielsa or van Gaal or someone like that coming into the picture. I know Rafa's far from the perfect manager to go for, but the pool of interested managers is getting shallower and shallower and I'm not seeing any better option.

Villas-Boas, Rodgers & Martinez are bigger gambles because of their relative inexperience, imo, and Laudrup's record isn't actually that good. There aren't too many others I can think of.

- Something Red -

Im not totally against rafa his big problem for me was the stupid wages he gave poor players aquilani 80 k jovanovich 100k his last signing thats just 2 examples i do think he has learnt from this and with a good dof to handle the financial side of things and his own staff who knows . zachary

Macca,

Can you please clarify what is the situation with Luis Suarez? Is he being tried to be shipped off? the Eds certainly believe so.

If this is true then we are doomed as i dont see any player as good as him who would like to join us.

Please reply!

Regards,

Ashish (fan from India)

Its all well mate, he is not going anywhere, its been confirmed on sky, our chief scout etc, it papers that take things out of context, we are waiting for a manger only, don't panic. DanieRed

I wont be bothered about any player rumour unless a new manager was appointed. just get the feeling it is taking longer than usual to get a manager. i hope there is nothing sinister about it.

I doubt he will be going anywhere Asish.Be a big mistake if he is.

Sorry for the c/p but this seems important

Italian media seem absolutely convinced that Liverpool's Luis Suarez is for sale. We originally mocked the above website splash from Calciomercato, which came within hours of Dalglish leaving his position with the Merseyside club, but they haven't given up on it.

On Saturday another outlet Gazzetta dello Sport upped it all a notch and said that Juventus were ready to pounce for the player but would not pay the transfer fee Liverpool want. The Merseyside club paid just over £20m for the Uruguayan and GdS say Juventus want to give them €20m for Suarez, which would be less than what their outlay was.

It seems ridiculously cheeky, GdS claim Liverpool are willing to sell the striker but not at anything below €30m. You'd think the only reason they'd sanction a transfer is if the player himself had said he wanted out or that the owners were particularly keen to ship out a player who was at the centre of a race storm last season, resulting in an eight game ban.

The club's reputation was harmed at the time but it would be unfair to lay all that blame at the feet of Luis Suarez, that the PR and Communications team have been turned upside-down by the club shows how the owners feel about the handling of the saga.

GdS also claimed Juventus exec Pavel Nedved flew to Barcelona on Friday to speak to Suarez's agent, who is Pep Guardiola's brother. Today Calciomercato push the Juventus transfer line further and say that Liverpool are 'ready to get rid' of the player. It all seems to be too widely reported, with too much detail, for there to be nothing in this one.

I think Suarez's agent is Dutch

Bare in mind that one of the eds has been aalmost certain Suarez would leave since well before Dalglish left

Anfield Andy

If he does get sold to Juve. Make them pay out of there apse for him. They had aqua man for a season and didn't give us anything.

I think it was Ed002 who said Suarez would leave shortly after the Suarez/Evra saga exploded towards the back end of last year.

Going by past experience, Ed002 is pretty much spot on with the calls he/she has made.

Personally I think it would be silly to dismiss these Suarez rumours. Take into account it is only May and Liverpool as a club don't know whether they are coming or going at the moment. There is another three months before the transfer deadline closes, so anything can happen during that time. (I have a feeling Suarez will end up at Palermo for around the £30m mark.)

Not all the Ed's are LFC fans and they don't know everything.

Isn't Alejandro Balbi his agent?? It seems Italians have a better sense of mischief they can get away with better than many.

Juve think we're stupid because Woy gave them 5 mil + Aquilani for a year for a player they couldn't get rid of (Poulsen). Ever since then they've been looking to deal with LFC.

Torres will shine in a counter-attacking team where his pace will be used more.

He's lost a bit of that pace at Chelsea because they've asked him to get bigger.

In possession-based football teams, as Chelsea have been playing recently, the striker must normally be very tricky and be able to create lots of chances, or must be strong enough to hold the ball. Pace means less as the defending team will normally play deep so there is not enough space to exploit the gap between the last defender and the goalkeeper.

Liverpool have also returned to a possession game. So in theory Carroll & Suarez are perfect. However, I agree we need to be able to have the option to play counter-attack and atm we can't because neither Suarez nor Carroll are very quick. So we should sign a "Torres type" of striker. But putting emotions side, why spend £20mil on a soon to be 29 year old on extortionate wages, when the owners have worked so hard in trying to decrease the age of the squad.

AZ

Chelsea donot play possession based football. Against inferior teams they might have more possession but they're a counter attacking team. Even against us at Wembley, they were quite happy to let us have the ball and wait for us to make a mistake (which we did) and hit us.

We don't want the scumbag back, who are these fans who would gladly cheer the little toerag and sing his name again?

David

Why am I informing about a player who has nothing to do with Liverpool? Do you not read other threads about EDS will we get Hazard, EDS are we buying Hazard, EDS any chance of Hazard.. Bla bla.. Just saying there is no chance and expressing my opinion, as for Torres he is not as good technically as Suarez but Suarez does not score anywhere near enough goals, that is the aim of the game no??

Suarez currently scores more goals than Torres? No!
kidmillions

Torres for us scored ALOT more than Suarez has.. Trouble is with most Liverpool fans at the moment is that there is too much s**t in their eyes. We will become great again, but will take time and money. AND the right players!

21 May 2012 10:29:44
If Torres leaves Chelsea in his contract have Liverpool FC got first options on a buy back clause? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Oh my god! do you not follow football?

Every bl***y day.... and I'm not even an Ed.... He's not coming back, he doesn't want to, we don't want him back.... give it a rest!

Richards

21 May 2012 10:13:05
Any chance of berbatov eds? I know hes united and getting on a bit but jesus he knows how to finish a chance! Something we have lacked all year. Just a thought.

Rug red {Ed002's Note - I really don't know if there is or not.}

Why the hell would we want him?

Berbatov is s**te.

21 May 2012 10:04:41
I spoke to Eden Hazards dad last night. He told me that he is great friends with Andy Carroll from back in the day at the Bobby Charlton soccer school. He said that if Liverpool were to make an offer he would accept straight away. LFC scout

Why not just sign bobby charlton instead!

Utterly ridiculous

How old is Eden Hazards dad? Who does he play for? Just because your son is a great fooballer? Doesn't necessarily mean he'll be any good? Suppose we could give him a trial :):)
kidmillions

Would be nice if it were true

Seems legit.....

...to be honest, I think Eden Hazard's dad is a bit too old to fit LFC's age policy:-)

Don't think Eden's dad would be any good do you?

Hazard is also a big fan of Brookside

I spoke to his fairy godmother and he wants CL.

He loved bread that much

Hazard's dad told me Santa Claus is real...do you believe it?

Them moments when you need a pick me up in work.
Then you read quality like this.
Maybe Carroll has been talking to Hazard about hot n Tender chicken, and how good their boxes are. Especially at 3am.
Who wouldn't wana come to Liverpool?

U on glue?

No you didnt speak with Eden Hazards dad

It's not just the post that is quality, but the idiots who think he is being serious that make this post quality. Thanks mate, you made my morning.

21 May 2012 10:00:11
Double swoop on the card for Crystal Palace duo Nathaniel Clyne and Wilifred Zaha fee in region of 7 million rising to 10 based on performance, source is an Irish footballer from Palace, remember u heard it here first

And who,s making these signing,s mate as we sont have a manager and the new guy might not want them

There is no interest in Clyne but firm interest in Zaha by the LFC scouting team.

The owners are satisfied that they fit the mould of their vision for the future so that's why they will still be bought regardless of manager, just like shelvey and Wilson were

But both now, gonna be quality players for sure! But think Clyne will go to bigger club

21 May 2012 08:48:31
South Korean - chung yong Lee of Bolton will be signed soon as a manager is in place. I have this info from an insider, fee will be around 5-7 million. He heres Man utd also interested so we may have a fight on our hands.

Would be great... Has shown that he's good in the last few seasons, this year it was not that easy at bolten... May add some dome asian fans as well!

This is true that there is interest from LFC in Lee. The staff and also the owners are all for a deal to be done. No deal will be done though before new manager is appointed as it will undermine his position.

This rumour is rubbish. From what I know, Liverpool have shown some interest in the past, but due to his broken leg all season, the speculation died down. He has now recovered but is still gaining fitness and both him and Stuart Holden, who was also injured all season, are likely to stay at Bolton. They could be sold if a good offer was put in, but they would not sell for such a small amount. Maybe one for next season if they don't gain promotion though? I think he's a really good player personally.

Also. I've spotted him a few times in tesco, Horwich, right near the stadium; he has said to my girlfriend (Bolton fan), that he loves it at Bolton, especially living there, because he 'can use his clubcard'. Liverpool new stadium plans need to consider a tesco extra close by?

Matt

21 May 2012 09:35:04
hey eds, just read suarez comments about staying at club, can we now put the negative talk about him leaving to bed??
mrjimmy {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

Why was Suarez at the juve napoli game then?? He has no obvious links to either team. If he goes then he goes.... Return of torres perhaps?

What has he said mate?
Can't seem to find any comments. {Ed002's Note - He has played down talk of a move to Spain after his previous Twitter.}

How do you know of Suarez's links to certain clubs. He brushed aside speculation for now, so we will cross the bridge when it comes to it. {Ed002's Note - He has brushed aside links specifically to Barcelon and Real Madrid.}

What about national team links with friends like cavani and the defensive midfielder napoli have?

To the first reply, Cavani ?

Mate you sounded realistic for a second then you mentioned Torres and back! Oh there is a link but its very tedious one so i wont mention it!

21 May 2012 09:34:14
May sound far fetched, but I had a haircut on Saturday in Formby where I live, and the barber was telling me that Mark Waller (physio) has told him that Suarez will be sold for 35M to either Juve or Palermo, Juve have contacted Liverpool some four weeks ago and asked for permission when the window opens, to speak to him, but Palermo may offer more money.
Also Villas Boas is definitely the new manager and lots of people within the club, including Kenny new this was on the cards at least a month ago. The only reason he has not yet been announced is that he is on holiday in Sardinia and returns this week. An announcement is expected this coming weekend.
Skirtel may stay depending on the intentions of the new manager and we are apparently going to pay 6M for Powell of Crewe and send Suso on loan there for the coming season. YOZLFC

Hasn't Powell already agreed to join Man Utd?

Clacker

"Also Villas Boas is definitely the new manager and lots of people within the club, including Kenny new this was on the cards at least a month ago. The only reason he has not yet been announced is that he is on holiday in Sardinia and returns this week."

He was at the Portugese cup final last night and was quoted that he wants to understand the project in details before committing - however I think this interview process is smokescreen and agree he is the one they want. He was the one they wanted last year before KK did his stuff which made it impossible to remove then. Now they have the chance to get Villas Boas without paying a release clause...

What are you talking about? Do you mean our former club doctor who...if memory serves...is baldish?

AVB is not on Holiday I can tell you that

That's one well informed physio

Siggle

I find it hard to believe that FSG would discuss business with the physio

Mark waller is a doctor not a physio

Why would having a haircut on Sat seem far fetched ?

C'mon Son.... a Barber... Please, that is the best you got.

"Why would having a haircut on Sat seem far fetched ?"

.... Clearly you've not seen this guy's head.

21 May 2012 09:30:10
hi ed are we still looking at david villa every thing gone quiet cheers steve o {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest right now.}

21 May 2012 09:17:49
Seems that Torres is very unhappy and has asked for talks on his future, he was actually quoted as saying being left out for the final was a low point of a bad season for himself.. If possible I would say go and get him back, if we do sell Suarez then he would go straight in. We also need a solid central midfielder, since the likes of Alonso and Masch have left we have suffered there. Anyone who thinks we are going to attract young world class stars may be in for a shock as Hazard has stated he may now go to Chelsea, Man U or City. It seems these people want to go to already successful teams. Much rebuilding required here but I'm looking forward to all the changes. We need solid players who want to play for the team. Thanks, Al.

Sorry, why are you informing us about a player who has nothing to do with liverpool? I am very confused.

Stupid! Not in the same league as Suarez.
kidmillions

He wont come back and I find his attitude very strange. He left us, a club who are not very competetive for places up front, for the chances to win, I now hes gone to a club thats won to major trophies in his first full season and hes not getting picked. Where ever he goes next, if its a wiining side, places are going to be competative, you cant have it both ways. Bad attitude to have im affraid.

We don't want him back. He's a traitor who's past his best anyway. I would have have real trouble accepting him back and cheering him on. Can't stand him now, tosser with a Chelsea scarf tied to his head. He made his choice.

David

From everything I've heard, the Chelsea fans have really gotten behind Torres no matter how poor his results were in terms of goals.

People can criticise Chelsea fans, but I think LFC fans could maybe learn a thing or two about how to support their players through the bad patches.

In this case I think the problem is Torres himself, being mentally fragile.
He needs a certain type of manager to get the best from him and give him confidence, but at his age its now becoming questionable whether he'll ever be the player he was at LFC.
I remember Macca saying the LFC management thought he would probably never get back to his best form for any length of time.

You want fernando torres back and then you say we need solid players who want to play for the club. fernando torres is neither. please can you people get over torres, i wouldnt take him if we were paid to take him, he was disrespectful to the club we love he has no place at anfield

21 May 2012 09:17:30
Hi edds the papers r sayin torres is not happy at chelsea do you think he would come back to liverpool {Ed002's Note - No I don't.}

My god, Eds any chance you can change the name of the page from 'liverpool rumours' to 'Torres isnt coming back', just a thought, sabe me reading this rumour/question over and over again.

He left Liverpool to get Champions League football so what do you think?

21 May 2012 09:05:33
We are looking at Cavani, deadly striker and great partnership with Suarez. If we make the signing Suarez will not leave.

You can look at him but i doubt he will look at you.

21 May 2012 08:43:12
I would like moutinho if avb takes over !!

21 May 2012 08:38:35
Heard a rumour that we are tryin to sign COLBACK from Sunderland you heard anything Eds? {Ed002's Note - Nothing, sorry.}

Weve got no manager dude

21 May 2012 08:12:52
No signings and/or no selling of (big name) player/s will be made untill the final week or so of the transfer window. Always happens like that.
YWNA

Really? That's funny because we had signed Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Doni and Jordan Henderson by the very start of August. The transfer window shuts a couple of weeks after the start of the season (31st August).

Are you still so sure that it always happens like that?

Thats funny so we'll be left with hardly any choice because most of the big clubs would of taken the best players by then?

There's no Rick Parry and no Hicks and Gillett. That won't happen.

BthekingB

I said big player names,
I do hope it doesn't happen like this but it probably end up like this.

21 May 2012 07:51:05
If Juve buy suarez it is going to be tapping up after he was at the game yesterday. He has no permission to speak to nedved and he better only be there watching the football but i think people will be talking to him.

You know he hasn't had permission then?

Keith

Hor do you know he hasn't got permission to talk with Juve

Hi eds all reds these suarez rumours seem to be gathering a pace he was at juve v napoli just a coincidence? i dont think so. who will we get to replace him though? godbless 96 all reds steviep62. {Ed001's Note - he went to watch a game of football while on holiday.}

So did Arsenal tap Podolski up then, and did Chelsea tap Marin up the answer is no because you can do deals before July 1st {Ed002's Note - Both Arsenal and Chelsea had permission to talk to the players.}

21 May 2012 07:45:21
Hi Eds, in last transfer window , there was a lot of talk of signing an asian player, many touted the player to Park Chu Young who did well for Monaco. He was on wy to Lille until Arsenal came in for the swoop, much to anger of Lille. He has not feature much then in Arsenal, do you reckon we will go for him again? Does he fit into Liverpool's plans for future and asian market ? {Ed002's Note - He may well be made available but have no feeling for interest from Liverpool right now.}

He has to serve in the Korean army in the next few years so I would say no to signing him IMO {Ed002's Note - There has been a deferral.}

21 May 2012 07:18:55
Macca

Will you please inform us about Luis Suarez and if he is staying with us or not.

Thomas

Is that the macca who has got a few BIG reports wrong

Don't Hate! Appreciate

If he replied he would put,
I think so....
Things change...
Don't abuse please he's generally right with anything to do with gerrard but I think the rest are all 50/50's and he covers himself both ways

21 May 2012 01:01:03
eds do you think paul robinson or craig gorden would come to liverpool , they have both been released by their clubs and would cost nothing , i know gordon has not done that well of late but at first when we he came to england he was really good , we are letting doni go , so a goalie with a lot of prem experience , would be a good move for us , what do you think , {Ed022's Note - Probably not, although I like Gordon, very good keeper with a very very poor injury record.}

The Paul Robinson available on a free is the left back from Bolton not the keeper, don't want more useless time wasters at our club

21 May 2012 00:41:02
ED001 do you know if AVB has been apprached yet every day the paper's are linking him with the job? {Ed022's Note - Ed001 is currently away stroking his beard, but no he has not been approached as of yet as far as we know, although we still expect him to be.}

21 May 2012 00:09:08
so torres considering his future at chelsea?

i would buy him back anything under 20 million him and suarez up front is too much for anyone !

lw12

As of Chelsea would sell him back scouse dreamer

As if Liverpool would buy him back, he's 29 next season.

Why would you want him back? He"ll never ever be the Torres of old again.

Why want him ? he's a dud

Thank God you are not in charge of our team ... what is it with you guys who are obsessed with Torres ? do you phone your ex gfs begging them to return as well ?

LLCOOLJM

He's finished as a prolific goalscorer.
Chelsea will look to offload him but we don't want him!
kidmillions

21 May 2012 00:01:43
Eds fsg have said that their getting advice from big football people...do you think it could be david dein, but their just not telling anyone? {Ed001's Note - I really don't know, but it would make sense.}

Maybe its razor ruddock or jan molby they are big football people!
