Eto'o undergoing a medical according to various news feeds. Cannot believe how well Brendan has assembled our squad over the last couple seasons. Quality manager!

I'm hearing a deal for Samuel Etoo has been agreed 1 year deal.
Just passing on what I've heard.
Wouldn't say it's a good source but excellent addition
If it is.

Believable36 Unbelievable142

I hope this isn't true, enough is enough. It seems like we are just buying at random at this point. Finish Balo even though I don't think we need him and close up shop.

Agree3 Disagree7

If true, then I personally don't see it as a good addition - another big ego, no doubt on big money, who I can't see being happy sitting on the bench!

If the deal does go through I hope I am proven 100% wrong, but I just can't see really see it. Yes he will bring untold experience with him, but how much benefit will that experience be from the sidelines? it would almost replicate the Kolo Toure situation (less the ego), plenty of experience but in truth what does he really provide?

Agree2 Disagree4

Deary me, it seems like we are spending money in a candy store, just buying everything in sight. I rather have borini than Eto right now, what's the point having two 30+ strikers in our squad. This is going to be some rollar coaster ride during this season.

Agree2 Disagree5

A bit surprising if true, but I can sort of see the logic.

If (or rather, when) Sturridge gets injured, relying only on Lambert and Balotelli to be our strike force, week in week out - in Europe as well as the league - isn't a great prospect. The alternatives are
1)buying a decent striker, which will mean either spending a significant sum, which probably isn't sensible seeing the competition they'll have,
2) buying an average-to-good striker, which isn't really worth it in the long term, won't be used much and will probably have to be sold soon,
3) buying another untested youngster, which is too risky.
4) Keeping Borini - which isn't a bad option, but 14m is a good deal for us, if we can persuade him to go
or
5) Having a decent, experienced striker on a free for one year as a stop-gap, if and when a bad case scenario happens

Origi's coming in next year, and it'll already be a bit crowded with the other three strikers we already have, so buying another striker on a long contract seems to be bad planning in the long run.

It does mean though that if we sell everyone that Rodgers has told they can go (which I presume include Borini, Assaidi, Lucas, Agger, Johnson, Enrique) then excluding Origi, we'll have broken even in terms of transfers this year, and probably not increased our wages by *that* much either.

Agree9 Disagree0

Surprised by both o these headbangers coming in. Hope they don't upset the apple cart.

Agree1 Disagree3

But what if Balotelli gets injured too or picks up a ban for insulting Clattenburg's hair? Clearly we need a 5th choice striker, preferably someone costing more than £10M, to play backup-backup-backup-backup striker.

Agree1 Disagree4

I saw this on the BBC News channel on the red button this morning (I don't buy newspapers). It was in their Saturday gossip column section and attributed to the Daily Mirror. Don't know if its true, don't care but I definitely read it.

LOL, I think your ITK has got it wrong as Eto is signing for Everton, but a good rumour nevertheless

Brendan Rodgers is still hoping to finalise a deal for Samuel Eto'o, despite Balotelli's impending arrival.

According to Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzia, a move for Eto'o is close after fresh negotiations were held.

Make of this how you wish.

I assumed Mario was instead of Eto' but. .?

Is Romero the most likely deputy GK and are Derby also in the hunt for Ibe?

Apologies Ed002

I saw what you wrote, but I didn't think it was official yet?

The reason I asked is because I read this in todays Derby telegraph:

STEVE McClaren says wherever Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe ends up on loan, somebody will land a very good player.

Ibe is on Derby County's radar and reports in the North West say the Rams - and not Bolton Wanderers, as had been suggested - lead the race to land the 18-year-old.

McClaren will not be drawn on the reports but the head coach is an admirer of the player.

McClaren would see Ibe as an exciting talent who can boost Derby's attacking options.

I apologise if I am wasting your time, but I think it was a relevant question, if nothing has been finalised yet?!

And if he has not in fact gone yet, apology accepted Anfield Andy - get your facts right before having a go

{Ed002's Note -I have no idea if it is "official" or not. The posts today have been at least 95% rubbish or repeated - so I am making little or no effort right now and you may have suffered because of that. I will be in Monaco for a few days next week but I suspect we will just dump all duplicates to the other site. I will look in as and when I can.}}

Fair play Zod, but as far as I had known from here and other sites he is nailed on to join Bolton.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Bolton were all set for him, but then he got a couple of other offers and he was thinking over a couple of options.}

Hi Eds - appreciate all the hard you been doing over the summer.
I am personally really excited about the prospect of Super Mario coming the club.

Quick question though on Ibe - has a loan deal been done with Bolton? If not are there any premiership clubs interested in him on a loan basis? If yes any idea who they are?

Cheers

Despite all the doubts and his previous behaviour, got to say I will be gutted if we don't get him now. Fingers crossed he does the business on the pitch and don't let us down.

ssn reported he will land in Manchester and LFC officials including medical staff will meet him there to perform the medical in Manchester. So no need to go to Melwood just yet.

Agree0 Disagree4

That is what I heard too. The medical will not be at melwood.

Agree1 Disagree2

So your really outside melwood?

Agree1 Disagree0

Ssn said medical would happen in Manchester originally. Not the case. He's at melwood now.

I read from some online sites about LFC offering Samuel Eto'o a one year contract. Any word about this Ed?
Cheers

Believable5 Unbelievable65

Do you believe that the club will pursue Samuel Eto`o with the impending arrival of Mario Balotelli?

{Ed002's Note - I can't imagine why they would.}

Is there anything in Seb Coates to Sampdoria, with Sergio Romero going the other way to LFC?
Cheers.

Believable10 Unbelievable7
