hi eds, any news regarding joe allen? I heard BR has grown frustrated with him I personally hope this is true and that he will look to move him on just wondering if any of you knew anything {Ed001's Note - I have heard nothing of the sort.}

Believable10 Unbelievable47

Heard that joe allen will be sold when the transfer window opens. If BR gets a goof offer then he will be off. Stupid person for leaving the swans. that's what happens when u go for the money. Same as sinclair

Agree0 Disagree0

What a stupid reply, Saying Allen went for the money from Swansea to Liverpool. He joined a bigger club and was working with his old boss. He did not bench warm all season like Sinclair

He played most of the 1/2 of the season, lost form and picked up a few injuries and then needed surgery.

Next season will be the big question if he was a waste of money or not much like Borini

Agree0 Disagree0

Joe Allen embodies everything BR stands for in football so will certainly not be sold and by the end of the season far fewer Liverpool fans will be questioning his ability. He's a very good player but does the less glamorous stuff (like Carrick) but his type of player is vital in any successful "team".

Kidder

Agree0 Disagree0

Joe Allen is not going to be sold and he did not leave Swansea for money.

Also, Rodgers did not fork out 15 million for his signature just for the fun of it. He is very much part of Rodgers plans.

Logan

Agree0 Disagree0

He was a waste of money, a luxury player that neither tackles, scores or assists! If someone else says he keeps the game flowing then you too have been conned.

I did support him in his first season but in reality he has to go - offers over 7mil accepted

Bm

Agree0 Disagree0

If you want to talk about a waste of money then rather refer to Alberto Aquilani.

The biggest con this club has ever signed, thank goodness he is gone.

I think joe Allen will be brilliant this season and shock a few doubters.

Agree0 Disagree0

The comparison with Carrick is spot on, speak to any UTD fan who actually goes to games and they'll tell you how good he is because they can see what he does.
It's exactly the same with Joe Allen, sure his form dipped but even before it had there were people telling me he's rubbish and they can't see what he contributes. Well you won't see it if you're not at the game because Match of the Day don't show it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fact is he did not achieve any of the wonderful things the above posters have said but on the other hand he did not get much of a chance to. He is obviously a decent player who should do better this next season but frankly I don't think he will be anthing special. Hope I am wrong but we shall see.
CR

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said about motd! Allen is a good player and will only get better!

Agree0 Disagree0

Suso is already better than Allen, I hope Rodgers is a man of his convictions in this respect.

Ciario80

Agree0 Disagree0

Logan, Andy Carroll is the biggest waste of money in LFC history. Thank god he's gone.

BROCK LESNAR

Agree0 Disagree0

Joe Allen is written off by some of you far to early in my opion I think he will a lot of you wrong snd be a great player for us {Ed030's Note - So do I mate,He had 1 not very good season,He was the "next Xavi" when he signed but 1 not good season and people have wrote him off. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe I'm reading Liverpool fans writing someone off after one season, particularly such a young player. Probably the same bunch who wanted Lucas out of the door the season before he was player of the year.
We need to get behind our young team, not on their backs. He didn't do too much wrong, just didn't affect games enough. Another two years and he could be first name on the team sheet.
Also seems that we are signing players to work around the Allen type of player. Think of Barcelona. Xavi isn't spectacular in what he does. He's the tempo controller and the person who dictates flow. He isn't pacey, doesn't score tonnes and didn't get dropped after his first season. Keep the faith.
Paulo

Agree0 Disagree0

Allen also had to fill in for Lucas, which is not his normal role. That's like expecting Xavi to fill in for Busquets. Give the lad a chance in his own position and then decide if he's good enough.

Mr Benn

Agree0 Disagree0

Comparing Allen to suso is like comparing Buffon to messi. Different roles my friend

GAD

Agree0 Disagree0

Allen should replace Lucas.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe I'm seeing Liverpool fans trying to glorify the (at best) mediocre. Seriously what has this man done? Nothing. We looked better as a team everytime he didn't play, there were huge gaps between midfield and defense when he did play, his passing was average, tackling non-existant: how does this equate to being a good player? He plays in midfield yet struggles with the elementary skills required for the role. I'll give him another season but those trying to say he's been good are well wide of the mark.

hi eds any interest in cirigliano of river plate? {Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Manchester City and Genoa enquired after Ezequiel Cirigliano last season. Juventus, Milan and Inter Milan have enquired this season. But Napoli have sustained interest and are continuing to push to complete a transfer after it nearly happening in the summer. They or one of the MIlan clubs seem a likely destination right now. Inter seem him as an alternate to Paulinho.}

22 Jun 2013 19:29:59
ed if we sold suarez could Stephan El Shaarawy'be a option his agent said he could leave this summer because he is not happy, Mark {Ed002's Note - No.}

Believable10 Unbelievable25

El Sharaawy is looking for a wage increase, and will be offered it soon. Pay no attention to the agent statements it's just to hurry along the new contract offer.

Soldado is looking to move to EPL, any chance? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool did previously show some interest in Soldado as did Napoli, Milan and PSG. However, Valencia wanted him to stay and he signed a new deal in last summer. Spurs are interested now but I suspect he will stay another season in Spain unless an attractive offer is made to the club and player.}

Believable5 Unbelievable13

Ed. I understand you don't like talking about money but what sort of fee do you reckon Valencia would want. Would it be around 12-16m?

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Soldado will not be moving to Liverpool.}

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2013 10:02:19
Why should we buy Soldado when we've got Alberto, Aspas, Sturridge and it looks like Suarez is staying.

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance of attracting soldado. look at our signings to date. a Barcelona B player and a Celta Vigo Striker. Now these may both turn into great signings but can people see the sort of players we have to look at? We have to be realistic in terms of who we can attract to the club as we are after all a 7th placed EPL team with no CL football.

hi edds do you know if we are interested in bastian oczipka? from frankfurt? {Ed002's Note - I don't know but it seems unlikely.}

Believable4 Unbelievable9

We might not be linked particularly to this player, but I'd hope we're looking at similar options at LB. If Rodger's is truthful on his comments that Mignolet is competition for Reina (it could be simply a way to keep Reina's price up), then we definitely also need competition for Jose Enrique

A Non-LFC question but is any team targeting Benat? {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid, CSKA, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Fenerbahce, Arsenal, PSG and Wolfsburg have shown interest in Benat. Txiki Begiristain has an interest in taking him to Manchester City. It is beginning to look like the summer would be a likely time for a move but nobody seems keen to commit funds to him.}

Hi Eds, do we have any interest in Sigurdsson this time around? With Paulinho set to go to Spurs I don't see Sigurdsson getting too many starts next season. Thanks. {Ed001's Note - none that I am aware of.}

Believable3 Unbelievable33

Come on man we got to be looking at better than him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He had his chance, i'd rather we give a chance to some of our younger players

Agree0 Disagree0

Different positions. But no anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2013 19:01:08
I agree he had his chance, he thought that his good season at Swansea on loan was all his doing, and his inflated ego, didn't take into account how well he was used and coached by Rodgers. Its his loss. Typical case of biting the hand that feeds you.

Mark

Agree0 Disagree0

Behave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I've no hard feelings toward Sigurdsson - he had a choice, and he picked Spurs. Fair enough. I'm not sure his lack of play time there is an indication of poor form, but anyway, like others have said, we've moved on.

And isn't Levy a pain to deal with too?

Mark

Agree0 Disagree0

There was some talk of this about a week ago! Apparently he has done well in his first season when called upon? However he stated that he would prefer to stay and fight for his place at spurs than move at the moment

Agree0 Disagree0

1 never look back because it's never the same
2 were a mid table outfit trying to improve
3 if he's not good enough for spurs why us?
4 what do you see in him?

Agree0 Disagree0

The answer to your no 3 question is your no 2 question!

Agree0 Disagree0

If your a mid table team team how does buying average players improve your top 4 aspirations? If Liverpool don't get this summer right the transition will be eternal.

Is there any interest in Granit Xhaka he seems a class player and he is only 19 (I think) he plays for Borussia Mochengladbach {Ed002's Note - Lazio has had two offers rejected.}

22 Jun 2013 15:38:59
Great site EDs, you never post any of my questions but here's a fairly solid rumour. My dads a doctor in Valencia and has done a few of player medicals. He says Liverpool are closing in on Pedro Chirvella, 16. Apparently he's the latest starlet in the academy with Madrid and Barca keeping a close eye on his progress and availability.

All the best

Hi Eds
Since Liverpool seems unlikely to buy Papadapoulos or Alderweireld, do Liverpool have any interest on other centre backs such as Bruno Martins Indi and Inigo Martinez?
Looking foward for your replies Eds.

SazLFC {Ed002's Note - Feyenoord's Bruno Martins Indi is subject to interest from Milan, Dynamo Kyiv and Spurs but others could become interested. If Real Sociedad decide to sell Martinez he will be expensive. Roma, Zenit, Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid have shown some level of interest or other in him.}

Hi Eds and Red. Is it fair to suggest that the transfer budget has been used on these first four signings and that future player purchases will be dependent on player sales? If so, do you believe all monies made from sales would be made available for purchases? Thanks {Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to the finances as it causes confusion as folks seem to struggle with anything other than the fee itself. What is paid would typically include:

(a) Transfer fee - the big number including any levy applied by the local FA.
(b) Tax due on the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(c) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents.
(d) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(e) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches.
(f) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(g) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered)
(h) Variables and tax on variables which may or may not be reclaimable) – these would typically include legal fees, moving/relocation costs, paying up insurance costs on the player, football association fees, signing on fee etc.. This was off the top of my head and I may well have forgotten something. The big numbers are the transfer fee, agent fees (as an example, Liverpool have spent £25M plus VAT on agent fees over the past three years) and possibly other intermediary fees (what do you mean you have a super agent?}

Believable6 Unbelievable10

Super Agent. now that's a cool job!

Rumours that utd are closing in on Thiago Alcantara, do we have any interest eds? Absolute steal at £17m. {Ed002's Note - No, he has options but there is no interest from Liverpool.}

Believable10 Unbelievable12

Are Man City and Chelsea interested in him aswell Ed? {Ed019's Note - Not that I know of}

Agree0 Disagree0

Should we not submit a bid. No harm in asking.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you seriously think he will leave barca to join us, a mid table team? We need to get real! We can't attract this type of player any more!

Agree0 Disagree0

^^^ yes. The reason he is so cheap is because of his lack of appearances for the club. A 22 year old touted as the future of Spain is going to want game time, and at a club where he would shine. I wouldn't say that he'd make an ideal replacement for an ageing Gerrard, as he lacks the physical side, but he can pass the ball better than anyone in our squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

He will sign for Manchester United to become Moyes first signing

Agree0 Disagree0

Man u are getting a good player there easily can step into scholes shoes even with moyes at the helm they must still be favourites for the title depending on what jose and pellegrini bring to the table

morning edds I said yesterday bout minolet not wanting to sit bench so who are the teams intrested thought barca are now looking else were so does that only leave athletico or is there any one else say arsenal? cheers
mike {Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed from what has previously been explained regarding Barcelona and Arsenal. Atletico Madrid will have Courtois on loan for another year so that option has gone. Perhaps options will arise in Italy?}

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Barca have been looking at a young successor to Valdes for next summer, with ter Stegen, Zieler and De Gea on their watchlist. Reina will not be joining them. A move to Napoli could be possible but there really is no clarity on this at all at the mo, although we won't sell to a PL club. Could have both Reina and Mignolet at the club til next summer. Reina leaving still most likely though.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2013 11:51:00
Could Ed 2 be hinting at a possible move to Napoli for Pepe! Quite possible with Rafa now in charge!

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds, do you not think he'll stay for one more season until Courtois' loan finishes? I remember him saying that he one day wanted to play for Atletico because his Father did between 1973 and 1980. Would make sense as that's where he ended his career and perhaps Pepe would like to do the same? I believe he said so in an interview on LFC a year or two ago. {Ed002's Note - I'll stick with him moving on.}

Agree0 Disagree0

That's fair enough, just thought I'd ask =]

22 Jun 2013 10:38:40
Is Christian Eriksen of Ajax still an option? And what about Varane at centre back? {Ed002's Note - I expect that matters will become clearer next week regarding Eriksen. Dortmund will make a decision whether they will look to complete a deal or look to elsewhere (specifically Pjanic) with De Bruyne and Bernard no longer looking to be options. Varane is not an option for Liverpool but another club is looking to see if Real Madrid could be tempted to sell as they look to raise money for their summer signings.}

Believable5 Unbelievable7

Ed002 could you make a prediction on what you think will happen with Christian Eriksen.
Will Dortmund go in for him or not?
Will Liverpool go in for him or not?
Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Right now, I expect that Dortmund will decide to push ahead with a deal for Eriksen rather than Pjanic. I still do not see ERiksen moving to Liverpool at this time.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be the worst decision ever to sell Varane

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed regarding Bernard is he on the move or do you reckon he stays in Brazil?
I heard he wanted to stay for atleast another year.
If on the move do you reckon to Spurs or FC porto? {Ed002's Note - Atletico Mineiro's Bernard rejected opportunities to join Zenit and a Qatar side last summer but there is a lingering thought that he may still move on. Inter went as far offering part ownership of others in exchange for part ownership of Bernard last summer, but again that was refused. However, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow, Terek Grozny and Shakhtar Donetsk have recently approached Atletico Mineiro and whilst a 12M euro offer from Terek was rejected, it looks like a deal could be still be done and perhaps AC Milan will put together a package including a player as part of the deal. Dortmund spoke with Atletico Mineiro about the player but have seemingly dropped their interest deciding the asking price was too high. Whilst he is certainly attracting interest from several sides and a very good offer could tempt them to sell, I suspect Atletico Mineiro and Bernard would prefer to hold off on any move for, say, another year. Chelsea, Manchester City and Roma have been keeping a close eye on his progress, but all seem reluctant to make any move. He was one of the South American players that Liverpool were scouting earlier in 2012, but that was pre-Rodgers and I doubt there is any chance of a move to Anfield. This leaves Benfica and Porto who are the clubs who would look to a deal probably based on part ownership or a significant part of his fee being paid in the future, and Spurs who have had a bid turned down. Whether they pursue there interest remains to be seen.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 can I ask a question why is it that other countrys allow the part ownership of players but its not allowed in england that makes the other european teams have a advantage when it comes to signing players they don't even have to find half the transfer fee in some cases for the player a consortium stumps up half I just can't see why it the other euro fa's have no problem with this practice the english fa do thanks
giblet {Ed002's Note - It is swings and roundabouts to a certain extent - other countries complain that the English clubs have far more income than their clubs from TV revenue. There are lots of dissimilarities.}

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2013 09:16:23
Morning Eds great sight keep up the good work!
Please can you answer this question for me?
Is there any interest in Nathan Redmond? I know we did have interest, was watching U21 euros and have 2 say he was 1 of a few who came out of it with any credit, he's got pace and like 2 get at defenders and isn't a 1 trick pony. Lee Clarke has made him available for just £3 mil got 2 b a better option than Capel and maybe even Astu? Please give me your thoughts? {Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool but the likes of Norwich, Everton, Crystal Palace and Swansea are interested.}
