So here it is folks Louis Van Gaal has agreed to join as DOF and Martinez will be our new manager...unless AVB pulls off something rather dramatic(not gonna happen) or top choice for this pairing De Boer (i think he will say yes) agrees to team up with his old boss.
Things can change as ever but im pretty certain that it will be Van Gaal and De Boer,
i have no reason to question my source at the club as it so quiet right now and have heard nothing
.......pure speculation?
Thanks
InTheNose

First you say Van Gaal and Martinez then you say Van Gaal and De Boer. Which one is it?

Read through your post before you send it, you have two managers joining

I dont think Martinez and de Boer would fancy a job share!

Its quite simple, Martinez will take the job unless AVB comes into the frame with the right ideas or FSG get there man in De Boer
wake up folks
this could be the one

Breaking News: Former Bayern Munich Boss Louis Van Gaal approached by liverpool to become the DoF

SudaReD

What source?

22 May 2012 22:30:16
Manager=AVB DOF= I believe to be Van Gaal. Also Laudrup has been working in the background for a long time, however won't be employeed and will be happy to continue helping. Transfer targets Such as Ramirez and Elm was put across by him.

RedAlarm

So what help has Laudrup been? Please exlplain

I believe this the original plan before kenny was to have avb as manager and i heard van gaal was there somewhere but thought it was molby who was helping with players aswell as laudrup will they both be acting as scouts or has molby stopped now? cheers CRAIG

Laudrup has been helping FSG from day1 since they have brought the club, as far as I am aware. Its complex FSG wanted AVB at the start but couldn't get him (buy out clause & CFC interest) Not only was Laudrup a advisor I have heard an english man was also an advisor, I'm guessing that being David Dien, but that being more on the running of the club and stadium. I'm not friends with Laudrup so I'm not sure where he had most of the input, but I do know he wasn't impressed with Comolli's strategies. After the sackings there was only a list of 3-4 candidates not 12. Laudrup suggested the DOF to be LVG and if this does not happen due to contract issues they will look at Tixiki who is also a suggestion by Laudrup (noticed the connections between LVG and Laudrup? Ajax and Txiki during Barca days. Then whilst all of this was going on he was helping FSG implement their plan of youth and growing stars. this is when Molby came into the equation which is thought to being helping Laudrup but I wouldn't call him a advisor, more of a favour of a old danish college. The likes of KK transfers were his philosophy of british....Now you see FSG philosophy with the likes of Ramirez and Elm which where suggested by Laudrup. RedAlarm

Lee

U are rite lee in the hilton 2day

Watching kenn dodd at the paladium

No comment other than the Formula 1 Hotel is very good

Surely he will stop overnight at Fat Franks lodging gaff in West London !
Bet he will be welcome there !

If it's the Hope Street hotel rumour it is utter rubbish.

Teejay

Can say for certain that it wasn't the Crowne Plaza. I work there, and it's full of doctors tonight. I imagine the Hilton would have been as well.

Correct he's here for the X-Factor auditions at the 02 Arena in the Albert Dock today:):)

Liverpool will begin interview progress on Friday and over the weekend with an announcement within the next 2 weeks. Liverpool have narrowed their shortlist down to 5 managers who are believed to be;

1. Roberto Martinez
2. Andre Villas-Boas
3. Brendan Rodgers
4. Fabio Capello
5. Louis Van Gaal

Although Rodgers has rejected an opportunity to speak to Liverpool, he may yet still be approached again. The idea of the owners is to interview a variety of youth and experience in the managers, hence such a diverse selection. Capello and Van Gaal have been there and done it of course whilst the other 3 are young, bright managers who suit the style the owners want. Should the younger managers NOT impress in interview, the owners won't risk it and will install a more experienced manager.

After the interviews, the owners will then conduct a thorough review of each candidates interview and their managerial skills before making a decision. This will not be rushed as the board insist on making the right choice and not rushing into a decision. However, the club want to move quite quick as Chelsea are set to open their search for their next manager as well.

At this moment in time, the board actually favour Andre Villas-Boas, dispite his unsuccessful reign at Chelsea. They sounded him out before appointing Dalglish.

Steve Clarke has been persuaded to stay on at the club. He is wanted to provide vast experience and his knowledge of the game and the players we have will help to support the new manager. Again, this links to the younger managers as they will need more support. He will however, accept a severance package should a new manager want to bring in his own staff, but this is something the owners are desperate to avoid.

Jay.

RODGERS SAYS HE WOULDNT MOVE LIKE LAST WEEK ?!?!?!

I don't disbelieve you - but within two weeks!! This whole process has been a joke! They should have fired and then hired within days, so that progress can be made asap!

Noooooooooo!! Gawd these people are intent on killing me. These appointments can only end one way and thats bad for Liverpool and FSG's bank balance.

How do u know there that many managers going for interview no 1 noes

Heard a story earlier that the reason Kenny was sacked was because he had agreed with Henry after the Evra incident that he would sell Suarez in the summer, Henry/FSG are not happy with Suarez, At one stage we could of lost some of our sponsorship, Anyway, Kenny agreed to sell suarez but when he went to Boston for his end of season review, He went back on his word to sell Suarez and told Henry to either back him or sack him, Henry sacked him, And now any manager coming in will be told from the start that Suarez is not part of our plans for next season and there is intrest from PSG, Juventus, Malaga, Anzhi and Roma.

Dont shoot the messenger, Just what i heard, Hope its not true, The person who told me was former player Mark Kennedy, He's my girlfriends cousin and he said Neil Ruddock told him when he was in Dublin for a ''Meet Razor'' function. Make of it what you will, David.

You are talking out of your anus

There are only two people that know what was Said at that meeting and your not one.. Stop trying to start sh*t.. No one interested we where not god enough simple..

And yet with kenny gone FSG haven't sold him

Mate Razor Ruddock chats the most wham ever don't believe a word that comes out of that mans mouth.

The fella has no credibility as a source and has virtually no modern day contacts inside the club.

I honestly think he's lieing just to look as though he's a man in the know. Wouldn't suprise me at all with a bloke like him.

Yh cos the owners would keep razor in the know!

Should Henry sell Suarez he will make Hicks and Gillette look like our best mates. Fenway need to tread very carefully, they might own the club but they are not invincible.

Agreed with above post.
I dont like NESV and I want them out.
Selling Luis would be spitting in our faces.. again.

I think this rumour has legs, I can see the owners saying he is to go (Suarez) and kenny knowing how much a good player he is he has said that he wants to keep him as he knew only for him we would have been in lower position.

Even if that was true, which it isn't, you shouldn't name your source like that- old LFC players usually have good relationships with the club, and don't want that relationship spoiled by being named as leakers of info, especially when its all made up anyway.

If razor said it,it must be true!!

Was phil babb there two him and mark on the drink again jumping on tops of cars

If you had been reading these pages you'de have heard that rumour last week, get with the times

Might be something to this. All other dismissals were "mutual consent". ONLY Kenny was terminated.

I don't believe that this was planned. Something must have occurred at the meeting to create this situation.

I am certain that if Dalglish's dismissal was planned, we would have had some candidares or names in place. Instead we are in this crazy area of asking everyone and anyone to step in.

I do not think that FSG will sell Suarez knowing that he is supported heavily by the fans and the sales of t-shirt which is also a good revenue.
As i mentioned, Dalglish knew that not bringing the FA cup and moreover bad positioning in the league cost him his place.

Lies season has been poor it was gonna happen

Brendan Rodgers tells Swansea of his intentions to speak to LFC if they officially approach him this week as expected!

Whats your source then because im pretty sure swansea allowed him to talk but he rejected the chance

Bloomberg Liverpool exclusive: Billy Hogan to be appointed new commercial director; Ian Ayre given great responsibility under new contract.

Saw this on the wire...so FSG finally get the big guns here on the ground instead of operating from the other side of the water. Hogan has already impacted on our commercial deals so this could be great... BUT really, Ayre to get greater player negotiation and contract role under his re-described contract...Not sure on this but let's hope he has some success.

Ayre's getting MORE responsibility? You sure that's right?

Sounds off to me.

Looks like someone has been leaking information on the other side of the Atlantic! Cant believe Ayre will take over Comolli's role though as they state, maybe contracts but not acquisition of players? I'm sure it will be the financial side of the transfers not the selection of incoming players.
Interesting though and atleast things are happening behind the scenes.

Luke cornish red

Fenway Sports Management's Billy Hogan handles marketing for the Boston Red Sox, the Liverpool Reds of the English Premier League and basketball star LeBron James.

The Liverpool "Reds" ? gosh darn it, has the club been rebranded for our US cousins?

Any relation to Hulk Hogan?

On the Hulk Hogan...I can see this begging the headline Hogan's Heroes! ;)

Louis van gaal will be appointented liverpool manager over the next week sometime. Owners are using other candidates as a smokescreen to keep media off van gaal. Watch this space. Van gaal lfc manager YNWA JFT96

Will love it for sure .

Jib it with your smokescreens.

Why create a smokescreen? the club already got enough smoke around it to start a disco with the lack of knowledge on who's being appointed in what roles .
manager??
whatever roles replace director of football???

Hope your right :o)

Out of all the avaiable coaches, Van Gaal is my pick, he could implement a new attacking football philosophy at LFC. It would be great if we can pair Van Gaal with Martinez. The latter can take over in 3 years time with Van Gaal taking a technical director role.

The guy has a great history and I think a win rate to match anyones 60%+

I'd be happy with that - get a good support team in to insure we can build and maintain our success, ie Carrara, boreal promoted etc

He will not be manager but sporting director, another name for director of football

My missus works in a bookies, an unknown person placed a large bet on louis van gaal to be our next manager 25/1. told her its a cert! doesnt know who he was, but he is now only 3/1. decent manager, but who knows. any views to this?

chris

She works there because your the manager... I wouldn't put a penny on anyone I wouldn't be surprised it Someone not mentioned ..

Liverpool have expressed an interest in victor moses though have asked for time until a manager is in place

22 May 2012 20:07:53
Hi Ed's and Macca just interested on your own personnal view. How much is Skrtel worth? because if so many clubs want him then surely we will demand a higher price and see which club truely wants him (or which club has the most money)

Also I feel that there will be many twists and turns in our quest to get a new manager. I do not think there is anyone who is anywhere near close to knowing the 100% truth.

Cheers

TheBigCrazy

How many times do i need to say this, its louis van gaal philly..the man in the know

Italian TV today reported the following:
Aquilani: Milan want to keep him but they want to renogotiate the price. They are waiting for Liverpool to sort out their internal executive appointments including that of the manager. Thus negotations are currently on hold.
Suarez: Juve are preparing a bid for him but are also looking at Dezcko. They have better chance on the latter.
Cavani: Napoli's President said that every player has a price including Cavani.

Milan are a disgrace if that is true!

Damn £5m is low enough, if so then £3.5m plus Coutinho on season loan with view to permanent deal.

The news on Aquilani was reported on Mediaset TV which is owned by Berlusconi the owner of Milan. Their jorno are very reliable for news on Milan. I agree they are a disgrace.

Coutinho plays for Inter Not Milan

You are aware coutinho inters player and not a.c's

any news on drenthe and hoilett

I believe RR Drenthe has a new haircut?

Unfortunately his new barnet has not affected his playing ability and he is still s**te

The news is that we should be looking at better players!!

Yeah they are still s**te.....

Hello ED002,
is there any chance Liverpool could go for Drogba as he is a free player or is his wage too high to consider him? thanx {Ed002's Note - He wants a two year deal. He has an offer on the table for more than £200k per week and he is 34. Seems unlikely to me.}

Hey ed002, do you know who the offer is from? {Ed002's Note - Shanghai Shenhua.}

Stupid question everyone knows where drogba is off too. plus he would never play for another prem team out of repect for chelsea

As much as i dislike the prick, Good luck to him coz hes putting and has put a fair amount of money into that charity of his to build a hospital. No person should earn that kind of money but if hes putting it to good use then fair play. We need a players with the hunger and desire and who would run through a brick wall for our club.

22 May 2012 19:08:42
come down Juve don't have the money to buy Suarez. £45m to £50m Malaga and Real madrid . PSG , Man City, and Chelsea may tempt him . but Suarez is a Honest guy I think he will not go any other EPL team If he want to go. PSG is front runner to take suarez

roman-red

Honest guy!!!!!!

45-50m for Suarez? More like 25-30

Suarez is an honest guy. Evidence may suggest otherwise lol.
Also remember how 'honest' torres was

Face it if Man City wanted Suarez he would be playing for them.

Evidence. remmember when we want to buy suarez and ask him to hand over a transfer request he didn't do it. he have a buy out cluse with ajax is £12m but he say if he want to leave ajax with thier blessing. he never ask for transfer we pay £22.5m for him. u guys get Evidence.

Nowhere near a 50 mill signing.max 30 mill if lucky

I agree 45mil is rather optimistic. saying that unless suarez wants to leave i doubt we will let him go unless there is a massive bid. i reckon he'll stay

22 May 2012 18:41:41
Hi eds any chance of affelay? Dan {Ed002's Note - Afellay has been out injured pretty much all of this season and I think future chances at Barcelona may be limited but the kid is keen to stay. However, I think it likely that he will be available in the summer and Barcelona will listen to offers. Italy looks like one option available to him if he is sold.}

22 May 2012 18:32:49
I reckon:

Manager= AVB
Signings= Falcao, mountinho, luuk de jong
Outs= kuyt,maxi,aquilani,aurelio
Loan Outs=Shelvey,flanagan, robinson,pacheco

Don't they dare to forget to sell/loan out Spearing!

Agree with avb, however i would get luuk de jong, gaston ramirez and keep kuyt but i'm thinking realistic targets rather than my ideal ones
derryred

That spearing comment actually made me laugh out loud. He's awful. I'd love to see it but I doubt it.
Benlfc

You dream my friend

Did I miss something? Have we 50m to spend on one player?

Oh come on why would he sign 2 strikers when we already have 2

22 May 2012 16:56:04
Hi Ed's,

Is it true about Skrtel having his head turned by offers from 1 PL club and some European clubs?

Cheers,

LFC_7 {Ed002's Note - There are sides in England, Germany and Italy looking for a high-quality centre back. I would think he could take his pick if he wants to me.}

He is not on aggers level anyway

22 May 2012 15:09:47
Been told that skrtel's head has been turned, not sure who by though. Eds do you know any teams that are interested in him?

Springer {Ed002's Note - There are sides in England, Germany and Italy looking for a high-quality centre back. I would think he could take his pick if he wants to me.}

22 May 2012 17:23:11
Because we don't have a manager could liverpool lose out to malaga for gaston ramirez eds? {Ed002's Note - As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him. He was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial enquiry. They will not now listen to offers less than 20M euros. However, Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palermo and Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Manchester City, Spurs, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. Discussions took place between Bologna and Napoli - adding to discussions that have taken place with Juventus. Whilst Napoli are very much favourites for his signature at this time we cannot rule out Malaga, Bayern Munich and Liverpool. My understanding is that his recent words from his agent about an offer from an "important" EPL club having been made has been clarified to say that he had been misquoted and that an offer is being prepared to be submitted by an EPL club. So he is not saying that he was wrong just misquoted and the offer is on its way - which I guess makes more sense. He also said he had spoken with a "significant" German team - which I assume to Bayern Munich but it remains clear if he contacted them or they contacted him. His final statement was that Bologna would not make any decision on the future of the player until the season is over - which sort of implies that Bologna have forced him in to all of this. So as before, don't rule out Napoli, Malaga, Liverpool or Bayern Munich.}

22 May 2012 16:18:08
Eds, have any of you heard anything about a move for Inigo Martinez? Pure speculation but he looks a good young prospect, and is the right age (21) that he could take over with Coates once Agger and Skrtel are phased out. I think he and Coates would be a top pairing - the strong aerial type and the capable passing type

Red Ollie {Ed002's Note - If Real Sociedad decide to sell the kid he will be expensive. Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid have looked at him.}

22 May 2012 16:11:10
Italian media are saying Juventus' summer transfer targets are Alex Song, Paul Pogba, Luis Suarez and Alexander Kolorav.

Anyone think suarez would be tempted to go to Juve? He'd get champions league football

ITALIAN MEDIA IS pushy n crap all the way, they relate every living footballer to seria a.

Depends on the new manager's request to keep him.
Copello has now become favourite and Aqualani and Joe Cole are ready for return.

Luis has said today according to reports that he is not intrested in a move currently to either Barca on Real so I doubt Juve is higher on his wishlist! Not this year anyway

Neither Aquilani or Cole will play for LFC next season.
Capello? doubt it.

Doubt it. Henry will want him out, tho. So it's either Real, PSG or Juve next year for Suarez. He'll most likely go

He wouldnt get close to the starting teams of madrid or barca.juved would be a big step up from liverpool.lets be honest most clubs are now a step up from the once glorius reds.read that now you delusional reds.wer a big club!not anymore.would have been 2 seasons in a row without european football had it nit been for the cups.thats not saying much tho, birmingham qualified last season the same way and look wat happened to them.only way i down down down:)

22 May 2012 16:29:37
Hi Macca,

Can you update me on Skrtel,

I know there is interest from Man.City and some other top European clubs, is he going to go?

Cheers,

LFC_7

Why would City want Skrtel when they can afford the best defenders in the world?

He's not decided at the moment mate, City and a few Italian teams want him. I think he'll go unfortunately.

Springer

If Man City come calling, he's as good as gone.

If man-c want skrtel I would try to get de-jong and Adam Johnson as part of the deal

Sell him. He has had one good season.

Could live with him leaving, tbh. He's been here 5 years and he's been top class for the year and a half Kenny was in charge and that's it.

Sell him and buy a better player in benatia of udinese -THE POPE

Id go for ashley williams from swansea good player wouldn;t cost the earth either

Hi all

see the below according to a fanclub based in australia... not sure how they know what they know but here goes...

"Over two weeks ago we were informed by a very reliable source that Inaki Ibanez (Xabi Alonso's agent) was spotted outside Liverpool HQ. Not much was made of it. Then 4 days ago, Xabi tweeted and image of himself and the Skipper, Stevie G. That's when things started to click into place. Inaki Ibanez has since stated that Xabi clearly has the intention of playing for LFC again but it would have to be in the right conditions (right manager)"

They continued further on this fb post that this information was obtained by Alonso's agent - Inaki Ibanez.

Not sure if i believe it or not to be honest. But this what makes me think it could be true:
They never really post any transfer or manager rumours (of their own) and have suddenly come out with this. The fan club in question (i am led to believe) is authorised in some way by LFC.

just passing on what i know (Karl Pilkington accent)

red snake

Who else read this in an Australian accent?

Square tomato

I personally would love this to be true, but the new manager may have a plan and style of play which doesnt include xabi alonso (especially if its rafa).
i like many others believe not only the balance of the side was disrupted when alonso left, but the mind set of steve gerrard! he hasnt been the same player since.

City fan in peace on here with my mate (liverpool fan) trying to see about the manager situation. Your lot have got to try and get alonso back, he'd be the difference between where you are now and champions league. massive player and would be a megga signing for you. hope you get him.

CTID

IF Alonso came back, not saying he is, but it would finally rule Rafa out as our manager!
Bazzaa

Why would Alonso leave Real Madrid? They have just won the league. I would love to see him back - our decline is directly linked to his departure. It was the single biggest mistake the club has made regarding a player that I can remember. Benitez treated him like a dog and tried to flog him to anyone so he could buy Barry (not fit ot lace Xavi's boots). Benitez lovers take note, before you wish him back in the hot seat.

22 May 2012 15:05:26
Hi ed
I had posted it before and you said dream on.I am asking again since he is linked again.Do you think we will sign Capello.If not who do you think we will sign?Plz... dont say no idea. {Ed001's Note - I don't know who it will be sorry, but I am not aware of Capello even being in the running at all.}

FranceFootball had David Dein pictured with Christian Gourcuff today. If Dein is advising FSG this could be another manager getting interviewed???

Louis vanhal is the man to take liverpool forward track record is great.

Its all over the papers!?!

22 May 2012 15:00:16
Evening standard journalist simon johnson claims harry redknapp is on his way to lfc wtf do I need to ask eds??

Nick from birmingham {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware there is no interest.}

A friend of mine backed at 159-1 on betfair 2 days ago he was down to 40-1 last night

If wobbly Harry wouldn't move to Burton for England ,then why would he come here?

Which there was interest! We would win loads! But why in the hell would he want to swap jobs?

We mate save some money on our tax bill if nothing else.

It was said on talksport about rednapp to say there is a strong claim to this. sam red.

Would give up all hope if we appointed that tosser.

22 May 2012 14:55:11
Was just listening to Talk Sport, James Pearce from the Liverpool Echo was saying that Interviews will take place NEXT week and not to expect an announcement until the week after - the Echo don't engage in rumour-mongering and so this should be fairly accurate. So I'm inclined to ignore anyone saying "so and so will be announced as manager in the next 48 hours". we are going to have to be patient on this one I'm afraid. It's also apparent that a decision has not yet been made as to who will be the manager

If the echo says it then its probally got some substance to it . they have tenticiles inside the club and are rarely wrong or spout inacurate information .
greenbloodredsoul

Anyone who looks at the way americans work when hiring will not be surprised at the long list FSG have or the fact they seem to have approached a few and had talks here and there.

It is fairly common practice in USA to sound out potential candidates and talk to different people whilst deciding who they want.

FSG will take their time and appoint someone who they think is right after they have done their talking and the interviews finally take place.

There is no doubt that the rumours posted saying someone will be appointed in the next 48 hours are complete nonesense.

Just heard that Liverpool are currently negotiating a deal for Berbatov.
Source is Liverpool-kop.com which is usually rubbish, which probably means this is rubbish as well but thought I'd share.

Cheers
Lee
By the way, I rarely post, but there is another person who signs as Lee, so from now on I'll be Lee C.

Thank you Lee C, very kind of you.

Lee F

Berbatov no chance

How can we be linked with anyone.got no manager & every boardmember has been sacked only tea lady left

I don't think it's gonna happen either, I hope not, don't want anyone who wore that dirty shirt.

Lee C

22 May 2012 14:52:29
Not the most exciting rumour given everything else going on, but it is a true one at least. Dani Pacheco (remember him?) will be joining Norwich City for next season. Atletico don't want him, and he has asked to play for Norwich in a testimonial match after which they will sign him on a free from us. Lambert still rates him apparently.

22 May 2012 14:44:57
This is just a rumour I've heard. Do not quote me on it, just passing on what I have been told:
Martinez is actually just 1 of 4 managers set to meet the owners in Boston for the 2nd stage of interviews. I have been told that it is Martinez, AVB, Laudrup and Capello who is set to meet the owners as they look to conclude the interviewing stage by Friday. They will then think it over the weekend before naming their preferred man on Monday. Like I said, just a rumour I have heard, hasn't come from anyone at the club.

Sean The Red

Sounds plausible Sean, do you hav e any preferences?

Mo

Some seen to think Van Gaal aswell

U do of course realize that whilst martinez is on a shortlist of 4 managers (if the rumour is to be believed) with 5 managers on it

If Laudrup manages the way he played then that's a nobrainer.

TSP

Laudrup for me please

22 May 2012 14:30:52
Has Jen Chang been put in place as director of communications or is this position still vacant?

Why are you going to apply for it!!

He has been appointed

This is fantastic news.good times ahead for lfc

22 May 2012 14:26:26
Evening Standard journalist Simon Johnson has claimed on Talksport that Liverpool are considering approaching Harry Redknapp about the vacant manager's job. Surely not eds?

Surely not? R u mad he would be perfect he's quality really like the fella {Ed001's Note - hahahaha! Thanks for that, that really cheered me up.}

Evening Standard + Talksh*te = NO

As much as i hate spurs i dont know if this would be a bad thing, he is the only manager to seem to have a clue in the transfer market. Van der Vaart for like 6 mil or something....Adam for 8??, Carroll for 35....Manu for free (i know Manu is a muppet but for a season loan its an obvious choice) Parker for cheap too! These are better then most of our Summer signings and could have saved alot of money. I like all the managers we are being linked with but i think the bigger the name manager the better players we can attract.

That is a newspaper written by blerts

Sky would love that kept well informed with goings on at anfield by arry

Cool , now where are Sven and Steve ' the trunk ' Bruce ?

just saw this on espn said id share with you all i personally owuld like to see a response too but as of yet we have to wait

Liverpool have had no contact with either Fabio Capello or Didier Deschamps, according to ESPN sources on Tuesday.

Speculation had been growing that Capello was wanted by Fenway Sports Group (FSG) as the successor to Kenny Dalglish, with contacts close to the former England coach claiming he had been approached.

However, ESPN has been told that there has been no official contact with Capello and that there has also been no approach for Marseille boss Didier Deschamps.

Roberto Martinez has been given permission to speak to Liverpool by his club Wigan, while Brendan Rodgers of Swansea City turned down the chance to meet with Anfield representatives. Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp and Ajax manager Frank de Boer have been approached but will stay with their current clubs.

Andre Villas-Boas has also held meetings with Liverpool and is on the list of managers due to have a second interview, and it is expected that they will be joined by at least one other candidate. FSG is yet to meet any prospective new manager, with managing director Ian Ayre conducting the initial stages of the recruitment process.

A source told ESPN: "The long list of candidates is now narrowing down to a workable number who are likely to go to Boston, although there is of course a chance that the owners will come over here to see the candidates."

It was reported that an agent representing Liverpool did approach Capello before the Champions League final to enquire as to his interest in the position, and that he had since held preliminary talks, at which he expressed a desire to be considered.

Liverpool fan group Spirit of Shankly, which led the protests against former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, has written to FSG to express its concern over the way the club is being run.

"It may be that yourselves and the board of Liverpool Football Club have a vision you are working towards," SOS's letter read. "It may be that you have implemented a strategy to deliver that vision and decisions are being made to work towards this.

"However, from the outside, where supporters find themselves once again, it looks like a football club in disarray. Confusion and chaos seems to reign and no one is coming out of this with much credit, particularly the football club's image and brand.

"We need clear and pro-active communication, a confident message about the club's plans that breeds confidence amongst supporters that we are moving in the right direction. Instead, we have silence and a lack of information or understanding on decisions being made.

"As supporters we have seen all too clearly what a lack of communication from absentee owners leads to. Ultimately supporters remain in the dark once again about the plans for this football club moving forward.

"We find ourselves experiencing deja vu, where boardroom decisions lead to more questions than they answer. We ask that you speak with supporters - engage with a true representative cross section of supporters and work with supporters to provide solutions to our current problems."

Whilst I have every respect for SOS I think they are being unreasonable. I believe they were pushing for Kenny's appointment last year. They got their way and it has not worked.
LFC supporters keep talking about "the Liverpool way" and how things should be done behind closed doors but then complain because they are not in the know. You cannot have it both ways.
Frankly I am disappointed with many of my fellow LFC supporters who one minute are shouting for patience and the next screaming for quick action.Again you cannot have it both ways.
There are other clubs without managers at the moment but I do not see the same level of impatience on their forums.
We are supposed to be the best fans in the world so let's show a bit of reason and common sense. We know interviews are going on and I am sure that as soon as FSG feel they have the right candidate we will all be informed.

I understand the sentiment behind this letter, but we're the fans and we were desperate for things to get back to the "Liverpool Way". One of the factors behind the Liverpool Way is the wall of silence from the board. A sense of privacy we have been crying out for. Can't have both lads, cant write a letter to Hicks and Gillette saying they run the club like an open market and then another letter to FSG saying we dont get told whats going on. In today's world, we are used to getting info straightaway, a reason behind the success of this site. So lets keep it to the rumours, give these fella's time to run the club, see who is appointed, then give it a bit more time so we can reflect on the new changes. Us fans like to think we know best, but it's often those running the club who are aware of so much more and are able to make the more educated decisions. (plus, if you invest millions, you want some payback so they have a lot to lose by not making those correct decisions too)

Whats the deal deal about it the club do there business quietly and when they have something to say they will ....... its the media thats throwin all the names about and dave whelan shouldnt have opened his mouth either

Spot on.

Some of our "supporters" need to wind their neck in.

Sick of reading so called experts airing their opinions as though they hold authority somehow.

These people whome now own our club have quite simply saved it. Plain and simple.

The regular minority section of us who are always on the snide need to ukoff.

Shmickles

I totally agree with the 2nd post onthis. Let FSG get on with it. Get behind them. They have just spent a lot of money and by the sounds of it plan to spend more but want to do it right for the club.

We can be sure we will have a new manager before the start of the season so lets let them get on with it and we will find out who it's to be in due course, they will pick who they want and we will support them as we always do (don't we?) if it doesn't work they'll try and fix it and so it goes, but guys it's their money and they're in control, we as supporters have no say so lets have some patience all will be revealed.
stevieH

Sos i think its time for you to be disbanded! your no longer needed now you did help to push out butch and sundance which we all appreciate but you have gotten a bit too big for your boots now, the owners clearly have a plan which is why they let kk go knowing it could be an unpopular desicion with the fans. i don't want the club telling us their plans for the future because if their telling us then their telling the rest of the prem! you don't speak for the majority of the fans and i'm afraid this time you dont have the clubs best interests at heart!

What S.O.S doing is a joke/stupid.Press is having a field day regarding our Manager issue and S.O.S. is putting fuel to the fire. Let FSG don their work and we as fans should wait n see n support and give every chance who ever their choose to be Manager.Thats the Liverpool way.

I wish SOS would just wait and see what the owners do! The club is undergoing some major changes at the minute! SOS should just wait like the rest of us and give total support to the new manager next season, no matter who it is!

SOS would need to cop themselves on. Do they realise how much money the owners have pumped in to the club. Without their money Liverpool would have gone into administration. Liverpool fans should know their current standing in football. They owners need time to sort out the mess that is Liverpool Football Club.

Sorry - but as an LFC fan this is embarassing. I understand the uncertainty but people should try and take speculation with a pinch of salt. Fenway are business people but they understand that to win in football business means to win on the pitch. Just trust them for a while.

So what if we get Martinez - they will recruit the person/people they think are right to take our club forwards - and we should support the team/club in whatever their decision is.

Paulo

Honestly -- these people are LFC supporters??
What do you think the OWNERS of LFC are doing at the moment SOS?
Ummm.... let me guess.....
Oh .. yeah . .they are interviewing and looking at the next possible LFC manager and DOF and possibly CEO!!
You dont know all this??
What do you want the owners to do - consult YOU ABOUT THIS and make it a public forum?
FFS GET A LIFE!!!

They need to quit kicking up a storm where there isn't one, methinks...

McSnuggles

It is far too early in the proceedings for SOS to start shouting the odds. We ALL want what is best for the club, but let's just wait and see.
In the times of Shanks, Paisley et al, club matters were conducted out of the public gaze behind closed doors. Is this not what FSG are now doing? They do not want to hang out their dirty laundry in public and have conducted the sacking of Kenny in a very diplomatic way. Whether you agree with the sacking or not.
They have said all along that they have a vision for the future, to get LFC back to the top, and like it or not Kenny was NEVER part of that long term plan. John Henry even admitted as much before Kenny was offered the job permanently.
For christs sake lay off them, let them implement their strategies and see where it gets us. As fans we have NO god given right to know all the ins and outs of the hiring and firing, and the only reason there seems to be confusion and chaos is because that is what the media are telling us.
I run a small business, and when I lost a manager a few years ago I interviewed 30+ people for the position, invited 8 back for a second interview, and the top two back for a third time, before making a decision almost a month later. Thats the real world!

This is the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

Who the hell do they think they are? We have no manager six days and it "déjà Vu"...

Idiots...

KKM..

What ever happened to the Liverpool Way and doing business behind closed doors. Telling all the fans kind of defeats this idea no? SOS like everyone else needs to get a grip and let the owners get on on with running the club. Based on the views I have read online a lot of people need to stay off blogs

This is embarrassing from SOS. They seem like they're the voice of LFC. I loved them when they tried and tried to get rid of H&G but this is stupid. jog on please

SLURED

Agreed, this is a bit of an embarrassment, I don't particularly want a Supporter's Group writing to the owners complaining and moaning every time they feel the owners are dragging their heels. The owners will take their time in order to try and make the best decision for the club, why would they do anything else?

Rugby Parker

Shame people are not a bit more patient.
We are all anxious but just have to wait, have trust and support FSG until they prove otherwise

SOS are clowns

S.O.S think they owned the club.Wait not. Get lost S.O.S.

OMG - from the BBC Sports News Feed; 'Harry Redknapp emerges as a shock target to become Liverpool's new manager, according to the London Evening Standard, which reports that the Merseyside club are considering making a move for the 65-year-old to replace Kenny Dalglish.'

wut??

"According to the london evening standard", just a london paper trying to sell more papers, a load of cods wallop.

Logic Liverpool Lad.

Guy was on Talk Sport (journo) saying it's a genuine link and we are defo interested

He'll have to give up the S*n column he does!

Ash

Not a chance! We all know Harry will never move from his pad on Millionaires row on the south coast!

So Harry is in the middle of contrcat negociations with Spurs and "someone" lets slip he has been contacted by Liverpool.............. ;-)

Yeah right

I would stop supporting this club if Harry the spiv became manager

22 May 2012 13:46:58
rumors redknapp shot up fsg wishlist

Harry lives in bournemouth & drives to london each day I don't think he would want to drive to merseyside on a daily basis {Ed001's Note - he lives on Sandbanks in Poole, he will not move from there, where his neighbours include his son.}

22 May 2012 13:34:35
Luis van gaal is gonna be the next lpool manager, source : a club insider trust me and go and lump some money on it. Philly the man in the know...forget macca no one seen this coming!

Just looked him up on the internet , his CV is amazing, He has won loads of league titles etc .
i would take him
Guinnessred8

No one except for the numerous previous posts, online articles and tweets. You got the scoop alright....

Aside from that I hope you're right.

Barrypool

More likely to be DOF

Go and lump on your money becaused the odds r getting shorter

And barrypool, everyone is convinced its martinez or avb on this site or maybee capello but i tell u now..fsg are scared of a fans backlash if they appoint martinez.capello wants too much money so they are going for van gaal, trust me on this one.

22 May 2012 13:31:42
For the eds or Macca, do we have a true interest in Capello as the papers are reporting and several websites? {Ed001's Note - no idea sorry, certainly I don't know of any serious interest.}

22 May 2012 13:20:04
Get your money on Luis Van Gaal.
big rumours coming from The States.

22 May 2012 13:09:24
michael laudrup will be appointed the new manager of liverpool fc

will be announced within a week or two !

lw12

I wouldn't be surprised if he is under consideration

If it is clear he will be the manager, why will be announced in the next week or two. b****cks!

I hope so!

22 May 2012 13:05:47
Hey Eds is there any chance of an Alonso return after all he did say he would like to after he won the la liga.... i have tried the search function and most of its about rafa pushing him out,
Thanks {Ed001's Note - unless Real Madrid sign a replacement, which they can't really afford right now, they will not be letting him go.}

Why cant they afford it ed?tanx

majestic68 {Ed001's Note - because they don't have unlimited pots of money and have spent up in recent years.}

You should take a look at the pic alonso posted on his twitter 2 days ago xD

22 May 2012 13:05:34
Evening Standard are putting Harry Redknapp in the frame for the manager's job. Surely some mistake...

Cant see that happening but I would not be unduly upset if it did, good manager

Why not harry redknapp
look where they was when he took over and where he is now. i personally think he is a very good manager and i have him as our manager. and it only be a few years then caggs or gerrard could take over

22 May 2012 12:55:32
Hello eds I don't really post on here much, however have a question for you. Is their much of a chance of Fabio cappello getting the managers job?

S Dot {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware.}

Thanks for the reply ed, very much appreciated! Great site!

22 May 2012 12:45:52
Capello has held preliminary talks and has now been invited for a second round of talks in Boston.

I wouldn't believe all these done deal stories that are being posted about Martinez or AVB. It won't be until the end of the week at the earliest until we know anything.

KopKarl

I read somewhere else that Capello had shown an interest but was not invited for an interview.

22 May 2012 12:39:13
Paulo Bento to be next LFC manager after the Euros.

Who is this guy?

You mean the Portugal manager who only recently agreed a deal with Portugal until 2015?

I appreciate this a rumors page but you see if you do want to make one up at least do your home work

22 May 2012 12:28:40
Anyone heard of Arsenal been interested in Skrtel?

Someone mentioned it to me this morning and i was wondering if it had any truth in it?

22 May 2012 12:15:46
Heard for the 3rd time in the last week it's Martinez.
Great for us: we can't compete with the money clubs.
So we have just got to be smarter and Martinez ticks all the boxes.
At last FSG have got something right.
kidmillions

I applaud your optimism KidMillions. I myself believe Martinez is not the man to take Liverpool FC forward and think FSG have got this one horribly wrong. Only time will tell I guess.

At least we'll finish mid-table next season, I was concerned about being relegated!

Martinez definitely better than avb, who tried to apply his Porto formation in Chelsea, which failed miserably. Doing the same thing to us and we'll be a laughing stock, we have very average wingers.

Martinez is into possession football, with three at the back where skrtel, after and Coates will shine as they all have their own qualities. Personally think Martinez is worth a shot. Also his English and Spanish is good could tell the majority exactly what he wants them to do on the pitch, mainly Suarez as his English isn't too good.

Only problem is will he be able to control the
players?

STB

Smarter in which way?buy cheap players and hope they turn out good.So we will be basically playing the lottery

How is this good for us? in what universe is it good to have a manager of a relegation treatened team running us?
Sure give terry connor mick Mccarthy an owen coyle a shout too !
greenbloodredsoul

How does marinez tick the box? he inherited a team from rogers and helped them escape from relatagion. sounds like he might be the right man alright because we may well need his experience fighting a relagation battle

Nobody who can count to ten wants Martinez.
If he gets it then he will be hounded out by Christmas.
His record is as follows.
1]Survived relegation by the skin of his teeth.
2]Survived relegation by the skin of his teeth.

How about we give him a chance, I bet Fergie didn't have the best CV when he was hired by Man U, David Moyes hasn't won much either but he is a great manager, move on stop living in the past.

Martinez! I guess if finishing 16th is the ambition of FSG (it costs a lot less). Lets just sell all our good players, employee a second rate manager and aim to stay up ever year (tick, tick, tick). Then there would be no need to build a new ground (tick) because we will barely get 30,000 people to each game. If thats what you mean by ticking all the boxes then lets go for it

Fergie had won the Uefa cup with Aberdeen

Fergie won league titles in scotland and a european cup winners cup with aberdeen. Dat is a lot better than martinez.

Jokes apart guys , seriously how can a manager who somehow claws his way back n just avoids the drop , can be our candidate .

how n why people say he is a good manager? what has he done so remarkable , ohh yup letting wigan struggle n slip down in the relegation zone n then saving the drop. bull s**t.

its been 2 n half year he is with wigan n what improvement has wigan showed?

even wigan fans are not sure that they would be able to avoid drop next year with martinez as their manager. we would certainly do a favor to wigan by signing martinez if we do this mistake .

I am from wigan and Martinez is no were near big enough for Liverpool, surrviving relegation does not make him a top class manager Wigan never finished out the bottom half! If this is what we are looking at help

Its been 2 n half year he is with wigan n what improvement has wigan showed?

is the question to be asked . sure some numb nuts would have fancied something in his style or anything, he likes possession football, n he is positive , bulls**t is that the reason wigan are in relegation battle everytime?

JUST TELL ME WHAT HAS HE DONE, SHOW ME THE WORK THATS MAKES HIM WORTHY OF OUR GREAT CLUB

I cant believe the people that are saying "he was in a relegation battle, he must be crap" What did you expect Martinez to do with a sqaud of wigans quality? win the League? Get into the Champions League? Wigans squad is probably the worst squad in the EPL, bar Victor Moses. Di Matteo got fired from Wes Brom then won the Champions League and he is exactly like Martinez, because they both played attacking football with low quality teams.

Rumours are that juve have but a bid in for suarez around 30mil euros which is around 20mil other here

plus martinez is going to fly to boston for a second interview with the owners

joe cole wants to make something out of it at liverpool and still feels like he can show alot more at LFC

That's some exchange rate in your fantasy world

You can't even get a currency conversion correct! It's closer to £24.25m...not to say what you said is true!

30m euros is £24m not much profit on what we paid ajax fsg would want me than that i think closer to £30m. RED KENNY

Good to see you read the papers

Depends where you go for your conversion rate iv herd the post office an second to non

Fabio Capello has held talks with Liverpool and has been invited to meet with owners Fenway Sports Group.

Roberto Martinez and Andre Villas-Boas have also held meetings with Liverpool and are on the list speak to the owners, and it is expected that they will be joined by at least one other candidate.

A source told ESPN: "The long list of candidates is now narrowing down to a workable number who are likely to go to Boston, although there is of course a chance that the owners will come over here to see the candidates."

Capello, who still has a home in West London, had ideally sought the Chelsea job, but the Blues have made no contact with the former England boss and the Italian has now ruled himself out of the Chelsea equation.

However, an agent representing Liverpool did approach Capello before the Champions League final to enquire as to his interest in the position. He has since held preliminary talks, at which he expressed a desire to be considered, and will now hold a more formal discussion.

ESPN Have now changed their story! They say Capello & Deschamps have not been approached for the job!

Hi guys,

Just to let you all know, ESPN now reporting that LFC have not made contact with Fabio Capello. Although, in my opinion he is the right man for the job. He's been there and done that.

Faizal

22 May 2012 11:16:43
Espn claiming Capello has been approached about the job and is interested.Don't know how true it is just thought I would spread the word. Also said Chelsea haven't been in touch with Capello.
Check espnsoccernet for full story. Cheers. Jackson87

Been told by a jurno mate Martinez is going to be the next liverpool manager by next week. Wigan will then replace him with Steve Bruce.

Perhaps we should approach Steve Bruce instead? After all he does have a better record at Wigan than Martinez.

22 May 2012 11:13:20
The Falcao rumours have come from AVB contacting Falcaos agent with regard a move to Anfield. AVB will be announced as new manager by Friday.

Please please

I wish but lest face it its going to be martinez and moses ..... pfffffftttt

If only!

22 May 2012 11:06:32
Heard off 2 separate people today that rijkard is being looked at.
Nothing concrete, just a rumour (but that's why we're here hey?)

Him working with txiki as dof again, well look what happened at barca?

Siggle

His not a strong manager.. look what happend with Barca's ego's Eto ect.. not good enouph!

Don't know where you heard this BUT Txiki is in negotiations with Chelsea! He formally stated this recently.

I'd be happy with that!
Fingers crossed

Frank would be my first choice, as he was before woy and kenny, dont hold your breath.

Are you all daft or do you not remember that when we were originally searching for a manager (when we appointed Kenny) Rikjaard was immediately ruled on based on personal grounds - Something that FSG doesn't like and he is not even an option.

McSnuggles

Any chance he had with FSG went up in smoke, literally.

22 May 2012 11:01:14
hey there!
I there any chance of getting Giuseppe Rossi? though Villiareal didn't stay in Spanish 1st league.
give me your opinion on this lad {Ed001's Note - he is injured until April, what would be the point in signing a player who can't play?}

Our history of buying injured players has bit us in the ass the last few years that and panic buying

Aquilani, Carroll ......

I' don't know Ed, we've a history for doing that sort of thing!

Like aquilani?

Sjb76

Ed001's Note - he is injured until April, what would be the point in signing a player who can't play?}

well we did sign carroll.....
redkenyan

Ed, they all missed the April part of your post..

Lads, it's nearly June.

McSnuggles

We have done that countless times before so your logic is terrible... aqualani was injured when we got him and so was joe cole yeah they didnt go to well but we do do it

There is a huge diffrence with Aquilani, Cole and Carroll, even though they were injured they were still going to play in that current season, we are talking about April 2013! how will that even improve the team at all?

22 May 2012 10:34:10
Eds am I correct in thinking Laudrup is out of contract this June {Ed001's Note - Michael is unemployed currently. No contract to be out of!}

Laudrup my first choice of the managers left that haven't already said no.

Sjb76

He isn't the calibre of managers we should be looking at. But I would love him to come in and replace Clarke (if he is resigning). He could teach the likes of sterling, shelvey, hendo and suso how to make killer passes.

22 May 2012 09:07:16
Hi Eds. HAve you heard any thing around the iceland forward Björn Bergmann Sigurdarson?
He currently plays for Lillestrøm in Norway.
Liverpool are scouting him at the moment. other top clubs are doing it as well.

Do you belive he is a target for Liverpool? {Ed001's Note - no idea.}

They have not scouting him. Ipswich, Bolton and some Germans clubs have.

OsloLFC

He is a great player. But the norwegian league do have a very poor standard. It is very rare that "top" players in Norwegian top league manage to do well in the EPL. there are though some exceptions. The next and the best step for this player is to prove himself at a another league first. Example Championship, Belgium, Nederland, Scotland etc. He is talented but not worth 4m

Sigurdsson is certainly one of the brightest Icelandic prospects, he has caught attention with his seven goals in the last four games in Norway and has been labeled the best striker in Scandinavia at the moment. Rumours here in Iceland are that he has recently been scouted by Everton and a few other clubs, personally I think he should prove himself in a league a bit stronger than the Norwegian one before he takes the big leap to England or Spain (which I'm sure he will at some point if he stays injury-free).

22 May 2012 10:49:53
No news on manager yet but I do know it's between 4 candidates, avb, martinez, loui van Gaal, klinsmann.

More when I get it.

Peters new poster

Martinez has got the Liverpool job.

Van Gaal outve them then

I believe the list had narrowed down to AVB,Capello,Martinez. As it stands Martinez is the favourite as he is less demanding and pleasant character.

22 May 2012 10:42:20
Fabio Capello will be interviewed for the job...

KKM...

Can't see this. he is 65 and they said they want someone young enough to do the jo for 4/5 years

22 May 2012 10:05:54
My nephews friend was out in Liverpool a few weeks ago and got his picture taken with Didier Deschamps. I've heard his name linked with the club, but I wonder why else he'd be lurking around. I wonder if any of the editors could shed some light on this.

Do you have the photo's?

Where is the pic ? doh ! andy.

Considering our owners are based in Boston I'd say maybe he's there for a holiday...or not at all.

Your nephews friend? get a grip!

It's true, infact I will ask my nephew to get the picture from his friend's Facebook. Then we'll see who's laughing. Don't judge people you don't know!

22 May 2012 10:05:31
Liverpool will announce the manager by next friday as AVB and he will bring moutinho and falcao his ex-players with him. Suarez will stay with carroll moving to JUVENTUS... yes juventus for 20 million. The director of football will be announced as txiki bergesttain.

Dirk kuyt and rodriguez will leave.

The AVB as manager part is believable. The rest of it is complete carp!

Sjb76

C'mon, would be amazing but sounds like utter bs to me.

What a load of absolute rubbish.

Ha ha, at least that is different.

Carroll to juventus yer messin

Either you are dreaming or we are dreaming. both cases == BS, sorrie to say that. :>

22 May 2012 09:47:21
Hi Eds,
I got this from an extremely reliable source.

Roberto MARTINEZ is going to be the new LFC manager.

Mark my words.

Cheers.
Y.N.W.A

Whoever gets it, lets hope the glory years come back we as fans deserve it.

Disappointing if it's true. I don't think he is good enough. I'm in the Rafa camp but undecided if AVB would do as well.

I really hope this aint true.
Paul81

Correct

And I ll start supporting City after 30 years

22 May 2012 09:39:50
Roberto Martinez to fly out to the states for second interview with FSG

Been told by a good friend that works at LFC
The rumour in the office is that Martinez has flown out to sign his contract and physically shake hands on the deal.

Utter desecration of a once great club.
Hicks and Gilette Mark 2 - more debt slowly being added.

Martinez is a nobody.
So what are we, under these Yanks?

I have a contact at Wigan Athletic within the club that tells me Roberto Martinez has taken the Liverpool Job and it will be announced in the 24 hours, he cant wait to get started and hopes he gets the full backing of the owners.

Well if he did get the job (which would of been given to him by the owners) would that not mean that he has the support of the owners already?? :/

Why would the owners hire someone they were not going to fully back?

So no name?.. perhaps list your name and we can come back to you when you are wrong?

Also to add, he has said his goodbye's at Wigan, and left on good terms, the club are made up for him as he is a very popular figure within the club. He is very excited to come to Liverpool, to take charge of such a big club has been his dream for a while now.

Why would he get the job if the owners weren't backing him

Why would he hope for backing? surely before taking the job this is something that will have been talked about?

By backing, I meant financial backing, in terms of funds for players. Martinez wants Diame to follow him to Liverpool

Martinez on his way to Boston to talk with FSG, my first choice is Benitez if the owners want CL football but if the owners go for a younger manager Martinez will do he plays good football and has more years experience in the EPL than the other candidates.

The new liverpool manager is Martinez, I have posted my reasons for how I know thisbut they havent been posted for some reason. Its concrete, hes said his goodbye's at Wigan and wants to bring Diame with him {Ed001's Note - stop whining, you are simply a liar, it has been posted so stop with the griping like a 5 year old brat who hasn't got their way.}

Yeah, more years at staving off relegation. They (Wigan) always have a great run in at the end of the season and manage to pull it off in the last few games and manage t osecure survival, but what of the other 30 odd games? Yes, they play nice football, yes he may flourish at a bigger club, I just dont think we should be the ones to test that theory. Tell me, why are the only other clubs to express an interest in him in recent years (to my knowledge anyway) is Villa and WBA? No, we need someone with proven track record at higher level, not relegation dog fights.

according to a friend at boston herald (Michelle Kaufman) avb will be manager by this friday/sat, they want him ,and he wants the job! a second interview with martinez is being conducted as they want to make sure they are making the right decision but 95% avb
mike d

Nice try but Michelle Kaufman does not work at Boston Herald.

She may have written articles to appear in the Boston Herald but according to linkedin you are VERY wrong!

Of course, you know this!?!?

Sorry mate but if they are 95% sure that AVB will get the job then why waste time with a second interview with Martinez?

She lives down the street... & doesn't work in Boston! But her husband is funny as *^%#! They live in Miami! And she covers Soccer.. Haha I called it Soccer!

Gorilla Joe, yes I know it's footy!

The boy has yet to delver my morning paper - TheTimes, so I had to give a scullery maid a jolly good kick up the behind and send her to the local peasant settlement to get me a Telegraph. Decidedly down-market I know, but 'needs must' and all that. Any way, I thought you chaps may be interested to know according to their staff, Martinez was interviewed on Sunday before he went on his summer 'jollys'. They also insinuate that Capello may now be leading the pack so to speak, on account of the belief the Club may struggle to fill all the posts and so FSG are erring towards a strong no nonsense character with a dictatorial style on a short contract. I would have though Mr Benitez would have filled those requirements. Or Mrs Thatcher. Lord Lyver of Byrd.

Not even remotely funny

Lots lyver of Byrd is becoming my favourite poster on here!

Quite possibly the greatest post to wake up to!

Lol,,, Thats the best post ive ever seen on here,, very funny with no info,,, all other posts just have no info!! Thanks for the laugh.

Good Morning,

Have two pieces of info to share with you all today. One is re-assuring the other is surprising.

First the re-assuring....Juve are not so keen on Suarez anymore as they dont think he would be willing to move. The general feeling is that Suarez has made it clear that he wants to stay at LFC and prove himself. Juve are far more likely to go for Ramirez and/or Dzeko now. I dont know if Palermo feel the same but given their spending power this summer I think they are more likely to try for Suarez.

Now the surprising. Del Bosque let it slip yesterday that he was on a short list of managers for a european club. He did not say which (though both myself and my source in madrid think its obvious who) and he also did not say that he would or would not be interested but that he would be returning to club management after the Euros. Very few people know this information but I suspect it will come out over the next week or so.

Del Bosque is a surprising name indeed. I suspect the next manager will be someone not in the press today. Good shout to go for Del Bosque as a surprise

Didn't he just sign a 2 year contract extension with Spain in April, so he can defend the world cup in Brazil?? Be a bit strange to walk out on that a month later...

I only pass on what I hear, and if it seems like it might be more than 50% guesswork /i dont post it.

My italian sources are usually spot on so I believe the Juve info to be accurate. The Del Bosque info came from someone high up at Real Madrid who is friends with Del Bosque

Good Morning Eds/Macca/Fellow Reds

Regardless of reports in todays papers Van Persie will be moving to Juventus this summer. He has visited Turin twice in the last month alone. Meaning there is no interest in them for our Mighty Suarez. My source actually works within the Arsenal coaching set up and advised me of Pat Rice leaving this season at the beginning of the last.

If the owners were that disappointed with Suarez' antics they would have already done somthing about this, plus they could have got rid in January transfer window.

Unfortunately as much as I love him, Kenny was put in place to settle the ship, which he did, regardless what negative supporters think. But now they want the ship to sail on and a young manager should be able to utilise our players in the right way and do this, although I think Kenny should have been given an extra season at least.

People slag off our league form but take a second to think, our star striker missed a quarter of the season in the league, Lucas was out for nearly half the season, Captain Fantastic struggled with injuries too. How high would have Arsenal done without Van Persie for a quarter of a season and Song missing for half? Or Newcastle without a run of form from Cisse for 9 games and no Cabaye for half the season? I know these are all if's and but's, however we have to look at the bigger picture, we won a trophy for the first time in 6 years, we nearly won 2 and we are back in Europe. This time last year we had Poulsen, Konchesky, Ngog and no European football or trophy to dwell on over the summer.

Keep the faith YNWA JFT96

Jonboy 6

Great site Eds...Totally agree. Very well said. KK was to steady ship, his job was done and done well, (again I agree should've had another season) now they want young manager for long term. Lucas was massively missed, as Stevie G will always be... and who wouldn't miss Saurez! Once manager in place, we will move full defensive mid, creative mid, right wing (poss left wing) and striker. With these additions I do believe we will be 4th or above. Lets get behind LFC. YNWA.

Now this is what i like to read. Nice write up there jonboy 6, PS I also thought that The king should of been given another season with a full fit sqaud and im sure we would of been challeging for 4th.

If he was only there to steady th ship why was he given a 3 year contract

At last someone with a bit of common sense.

Agreed, I think FSG laid the blame for Evra-gate at everyone's door but Suarez's. What he actually did paled into insignificance when you compare how the whole issue was dealt with by the club!

Well said sir

Arsenal had Wiltshire out for the whole season, as well as lots of other injuries

So you think that your current squad plus 4 players is top 4? Just think everyone above Liverpool will strenghten their team, then what?

Liverpool had a poor team to start with and it was not long ago that you were all slagging of Lucas and saying how poor he was. Then he has an ok end to a season and you would think he was Stevie G mark 2.

Liverpool need to outspend Spurs and Arsenal and buy player who would get into their squads... only then can they compete. Sacking Kenny was right, at least it gave the fans what they wanted, Kenny back and enny messing things up. At least this way you wont pine after him again to take over... but now you want Rafa back... do you ever learn?

Former England boss Fabio Capello is interested in the Anfield vacancy but has had no contact from Liverpool.
Independent.

I know a lot of people will say he can't speak english this that but he is the best man who work well with young player. at the moment the only way to cope with big spending city and chelsea is an experiance man who work well with young player.

Fabio can speak english

hi eds, Boudebouz is set to leave Sochaux, are we inerested in him? {Ed002's Note - There has been interest in the past - now I am not so sure but you are correct he will be moving.}

Hi ed's and fellow reds, the falcao rumour might have some legs to it, especially if avb becomes manager and suarez is sold, we are in the europa league, a competition he has been the star player and won the last 2 years with porto and athletico madrid! That would make suarez leaving, quite easy to take! What do ya reckon on his value and his desire to leave a madrid after 1 season, and to us? Thanks DHH L20 Kopite! Y..N..W..A jft96! {Ed002's Note - They are looking for 60M euros for him.}

I'd rather Suarez

Odds now favouring Martinez... will we attract players with him, hope we get AVB, we will have better quality players come in..come on FSG.. we dont wana end up being good relagation battlers

Easy to take? why dont we just sell the stadium for a supermarket and merge with tranmere too?

They are ed, but they were also looking for 40m euros for Torres when we bought him.

Personally, I'd rather have Suarez AND Falcao. We can all dream though, eh?

Suarez leaving would be very hard to accept.

I'd rather the goals!

We should sell suarez, Downing, Johnson add a few million and buy him.

The only person who cannot lose in this situation is Rafa. He won't be appointed while Ayre is at the club anyway so he sits back and waits for one of John Henry's young guns to start losing a bunch of games and suddenly it's Rafa's name the Kop are singing, just like they did for Kenny when Roy was dying on is rear. What the point in that? Just embarrasses us further and delays the inevitable. You simply cannot dismiss AVB's failure at Chelsea as fat Frank et al stitching him up, that's too niaive. As for Martinez, smashing bloke but he needs the Villa job next not us. I'm still down with the owners but this Pop Idol selection process and silly DOF model has certainly raised the first serious doubts in my mind about their acumen and direction. Can you imagine Baconface with a DOF? So why are Liverpool even considering this dopey concept? Either way the first step is to boot Ayre or this club is going nowhere.

I say all us supporters chip in a fiver each so we can buy falcao!

No you have it wrong by 30m and 20m respectively. they want between 30m - 40m for Falcao

Eds and Macca

With Joe Cole seemingly wanting to make a go of it at Anfield, do you think he'll be part of the plans or is he just keeping his options open incase a permanent move to Lille isn't on the cards? Would personally like him to have a proper go at it, he's definitely a better player than Adam, Downing, Spearing and Henderson like.

Cheers
NB Red {Ed002's Note - I suspect Cole will end up at Lille, PSG, Spurs or perhaps even West Ham.}

Joe cole is money greedy lazy player! The only reason he would want to come back to lfc is becos lille cant pay his absurd wage demands and no other team would pay it, greedy misery. RedTurk

I bet you he stays at liverpool

Hey ed quick question regarding the transfer policy under FSG -

If a player commands a high transfer fee but is on low or suitable wages owuld the club spend to get him?

Foe examples Falcao(I know we'll never get him btw) i'd imagine his wages are relatively low so if FSG were convinced he could take us forward and improve the squad would the dish out the 40 million ?

Just curious {Ed002's Note - I think it would be very difficult to pay £40M, but the "whole life costs" would be considered.}
