this is for the eds

i read we could have signed Nastasic who is at man city now but has not played for a while, is this true that we could have got him and if so do you know the reason why we never, i think he only cost them 15 or 16 mill,

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool interest at any time. Nastasic is of interest to Inter Milan but an exchange for soon to be out-of-contract Stephan Lichsteiner with Juventus may suit both clubs - but perhaps not the players with, I understand, Nastasic favouring linking up with Mancini again, and Lichsteiner having to give up a potentially lucrative signing on fee. Manchester City are restricted under their FFP sanction to probably only being able conduct exchanges in January without selling first.}

eds Is there truth to bale to united? surely not

Believable3 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - This is the Liverpool page. However, I have explained that Real Madrid have mapped out what they wish to do over the next to windows in terms of players leaving and players coming in. If the can sell Bale then they will.}

Sorry ed, but why are Real Madrid keen to sell? Thought he'd been great on the pitch and popular with the fans.

Thanks

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Because clubs have to sell players to raise money to buy other players.}

And some wonder why some fans don't respect Real Madrid these day, if all they do is bring in the latest flavour of the month and sacrifice last month's to do it!

Hi ed,

I understand that clubs sell players to buy other players etc. but its not just any old squad player its gareth bale, do they not rate him?

Can you elaborate as to why they are so keen to sell him or are even entertaining the thought?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is simply a club looking to buy players and raising the money by selling others - there is nothing special to this.}

Eds we are a week before the begining of a one month (i.e. not very long) window. I assume by now the club executives have to know at least who are we willing to release and for how much(?)

Would it be reasonable to assume that from the guys who are in the rotation we are willing to sell Lucas (I reckon it will in the region of 10M?) and Baloteli if we can get something that is not too far from what we paid for him?Anyone else? And any of those who are not in the rotation (Borini, Susu etc) all are for sale if anyone is willing to pay something for them?

Also I assume that our number-one target in terms of buying is an affordable but proven keeper, and a striker if we sell Baloteli, but nothing else unless an unbeliveable bargain comes at our door?

As a side note I said already in the summer that Yedlin for 5-6 million was a fantastic deal for Spurs and I think it will prove to be a great signing now that we can start play for them.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - This has all been done to death, but to refresh memories: Lucas' representatives are already talking with Inter Milan about a move. I have no idea if it will happen in January. The financially expectations Liverpool have for Balotelli are well beyond what anyone will pay. Borini wants to stay and what interest there is would likely only be for a loan. Suso will be talking to other clubs about the packages they will be offering him for a summer move. The goalkeepers the club has been looking to are, aside from John Ruddy, those who would be available when there contracts expire in the summer or a player who is already out of contract.}

So ed, what you are saying in short, don't expect a good quality keeper and expect free transfers and scraps.

Don't think we'll be seeing champions league again any time soon.

Has any manager, anywhere, spent as much as Rodgers to achieve such spectacular failure?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't recall saying that.}

Sorry Ed, just reading between the lines there, the reality for us is that Ruddy isn't anywhere near what you'd call a good keeper(that he got and England cap shows the lack of talent available beyond Joe Hart), the free transfers I've seen don't fill me with confidence(Neto for example, lacks concentration and makes too many mistakes) and if a player is a free agent(Valdez?), there is a reason they don't have a club and in his case it's the injury and he isn't actually that good(was hoping man u would pick him up for that exact reason. ).

Dont know why the club doesn't push for Peter Cech, has plenty left in the tank, is still a fantastic keeper and wouldn't cost the earth, Mourinho isn't bothererd about selling to other PL teams so that would be the dream transfer and is reasonably logical.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Petr Cech is not available right now.}

Eds any truth that we are looking at Perin?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - The expectation is that Perin will be sold to Juventus next summer - although Genoa would be open to hearing offers from elsewhere.}

23 Dec 2014 23:03:30
is that Reginald Perin ?
