Andre Villas-Boas out of the running now.

No he isn't

Martin

Thank god!

Peter

Source? dont have one then you have no proof

The former Porto and Chelsea manager, however, has not been approached for an interview. While his candidacy cannot be discounted completely, he has seen his prospects diminish amid interest from Fenway Sports Group

Ed, have you heard anything about man city approaching Liverpool for a deal for glen Johnson which would see us get Micah Richards? {Ed001's Note - not a sausage.}

No doubt city would, we shouldn't: As Richards would want more money than Johnson and he's not as good!! (see England squad)

Why the hell is micah not in the england squad. it baffles me, well done Woy

Im a Liverpool supporter, johnson is quality but i think richards is better than johnson, he gives a lot more

The guardian have posted a report how we have cooled interest with AVB. Its just to fill the papers. He had a meeting today in Boston, Martinez is in the Caribbean and is also expected to have a interview. FSG in the past with employment have interviewed all candidates regardless of who's favoured. So when people are saying why would FSG take Martinez from holiday, its purely to be fair. Redalarm

Really?, Read from the independant about an hour ago. Every paper has a story but I am glad you found a big paper to believe. Me personally believe none of then because they all lie to sell issues. I do believe FSG will interview many candidates and appoint the correct one in due time, I also believe we will find out who that is when they want us to. But love the rumours. CK7

Ermmmm....your comment doesn't make sense you said atleast I'm believeing a big paper....Who said I believed? I said its just to fill the papers....AVB is still first choice, but they will have to agree his terms and Martinez needs to be interviewed to.
..Red Alarm

Its on the back page of the Wigan evening post that Martinez was meant to be flying to the Carribean but has now gone to Boston!

Actuallly he/she said he/she didnt believe the papers CRAIG

23 May 2012 22:56:22
Van Gaal offered sporting director role. Still wants manager role though. Watch AVB odds jump out now, no approach has been made. Martinez appears main candidate now. Duncthefunk

23 May 2012 22:43:51
Van Gaal DOF, AVB manager by Friday. 2 signings approved by FSG, Hulk and Coutinho. Don't shoot the messenger. BigAl

You lost all credibility when you added "Hulk and Coutinho" .. Dream on.

Roy

Has there ever been a rumor on here that's been true where someone said 'don't shoot the messenger', 'watch this space', or 'heard it here first'? Just curious...

If this were remotely true why would we shoot you, we would shoot you cos you are making it up

LvG - maybe, AVB - unlikely, Mouhtino - improbable, Hulk - don't make me angry

BANG BANG!!

Where's my gun?

No way hulk will come in stop talking rubbish!

I wouldn't waste a bullet on this fool, I'd just pistol whip his ass...

Hulk I'd have Falcao
Dodgy choices there mate

23 May 2012 21:48:26
Hi eds, this is not directed directly towards liverpool, but hopefully is...

Hulks agent claims chelsea and four other prem teams are interested in signing him, do you have any clue who they could be and liverpool be interested.

Also do you expect manager vacancy to be filled soon ?

DCx {Ed016's Note -it is Chelsea, City, United and Arsenal)

Arsenal's pockets are tighter that a nuns crossed legs.

Chelsea + 4 equals 5 teams last time I checked!

Err...do the Math!

Now maths was never my strong point Ed but that doesn't seem to add up...

Ed thats only 4 u mentioned tis post says chelsea plus another 4 making it 5 lol

23 May 2012 21:33:14
Hey Ed's, would you please do a player-profile on Lee Chung-Yong? {Ed022's Note - If you post the request on www.player-profiles.co.uk it is then logged in a database and that I work through based on amount of requests etc.}

I hear he wants to join a top club this season I think we should go for him.

23 May 2012 21:09:24
Eds, Contento the left back for Bayern is available in the Summer. He put some delicious balls into the box on Saturday. Do you think he would be a step up from Enrique? {Ed022's Note - Liverpool will be looking for another LB this summer, but Contento is unlikely.}

What about baines
surely he come to us instead of man u as he is a liverpool fan. and surely he not go to man u for that reason

Another lb? Enrique was pretty good in my opinion {Ed022's Note - It's because Aurelio and Robinson are leaving (Robbo on loan).}

Talk about match of the Day fever! Even Bayern fans can't stand Contento, he's garbage.

We are only buying a new LB to replace Aurelio. a bench warmer. XD

The portugese press are reporting as breaking news that avb is the new liverpool manager and will be announced tonight or tommorow. Its all over the internet and on oddschecker twitter feed his odds are gettimg slashed, this all comes after he was spotted in liverpool

Well I hope it's sorted out soon anyway

Source for this portugese press....no I didn't think so

What Portuguese press?

I bet Martinez is annoyed after getting plane over to usa today ...

LFCHero :)!

The british press are reporting Van Gaal and Martinez are the hot favourites and Martinez is in Boston not Liverpool and Boston is where the deal will be done

Martinez is actually gone on holiday today to the Caribean, although i read he is due to meet the owners in the coming days

Carb

"Source for this portugese press....no I didn't think so" - He's giving more than you are so either be thankful for his passing of information or look the link up yourself...some people

Well actually I tell ya what as soon as I read this I went on to 4 or 5 Portuguese websites and guess what not a thing so someone posting a lie isn't exactly productive so I would invite you to shut up

He was at the X-Factor auditions:)

Eds please can you clarify the situation with Rafa Benitez. Is he or is he not on the list of candidates and will he get an interview?
{Ed016's Note - I think Rafa would suit the DOF role, but I really do not expect him to return. I do not think he has been interviewed)

Rafa will not return to Liverpool Football Club

23 May 2012 20:52:12
Just heard news Fernando Torres is 100% staying at Chelsea. Shame he would have gone back to his best him a Suarez at Liverpool.
{Ed016's Note - Good I can enjoy watching him get embarrased at Anfield again next season!)

With drogba leaving and him becoming no1 striker expect 2o goals next season from him {Ed016's Note - lol)

Yess ed excellent
derryred

It was quite intimidating for him when he came back... But we can see he still has lfc in his blood. I mean he hit the bar.

Thats such a shame, i was hoping we would see owen and heskey back aswell boo hoo!

To Ed016's, as a Lfc fan,on what grounds do come to that conclusion?

alan50 {Ed016's Note - he lost it 2 seasons ago)

I love your reply ed016, good one.
hibsylfc

Loser pool he's staying on greener pastures

Brilliant eds, like we need that has been back, we beat the chats/plastics 3 out of 4 times this season and the time he didn't play against us they bored us all and won now that to me shows we don't want that loser back anywhere near anfield ynwa

Yawn yawn yawn

Do remember that torres helped us get to best prem position that we been in years, dont hate on torres, he done his thing and lost it, but his form is comin back.

Loser what u talkin about he has a wc medal,champions league medal won the fa cup ain't too bad since he left loserpool

Chelsea won't offer 50m for Saurez then?

Whats with people calling us loserpool lol? Torres contribution to his team is so little for both the CL and FA cup so does he deserve the medal's he won? absolutely not!

Mate he won the world cup while he was at Liverpool. No idea.

"Do remember that torres helped us get to best prem position that we been in years, dont hate on torres, he done his thing and lost it, but his form is comin back."

So did babel, do you want him back?!

I do not necessarily see Torres as the no 1 striker for Chelsea. If Torres gets injured, that can't just rely on Sturridge. They will need a back up striker(s) i.e Hulk (Porto) or Falcao (Athletico Madrid), who are similar plays and build to Drogba, he will have something else to moan at. I have never seen a play who cost 50 million who has won to medals in one season so easily. Two managers have already snubbed Torres for one reason or another, will it be third time lucky! {Ed002's Note - Falcao is a long way off being the same build as Drogba. Are you thinking of the right player?}

The Looserpool everyone refers to ... has actually won MORE than the plastic teams the haters represent.

Irrelevant of it being past achievements, Liverpool is a Great team and We ARE that great team because of what we have achieved.

When Chelsea win another 4 European Cups or even 18 titles then come on and blast us.... Give the fans their due. Half of Chelseas support is PLASTIC outside of England. You never heard of supporters in Nigeria and Ghana until they won something... Same goes for Man City.

I grew up in an era where I was not influenced by what Liverpool won - In actual fact they had won nothing and I chose to Support them.

YNWA

Absolutely gob smacked a Web site has been set up to put pressure on the owners to bring Rafa back.

I don't think I could stand his negative, boring, tactics.

FSG if you are reading this, please let's get someone new, with fresh ideas, not Rafa.

Why don't fans give FSG time to bring the right people in? Why do fans want him back? If he was that good he would of left us with champions league football but instead left us with crap players on very high wages.

Get a grip...

TIZER RED {Ed016's Note - I agree. Making a website is embarrassing and anyone who knows who set it up should ask them to just take it down. The fans had their shout with KD and that did not turn out well. The owners will not be pushed around by fans)

Yeah it didnt work out because he wasnt given enough time...simples!

Agree with Ed016. They are wasting their time. I suspect decision has already been made, or will be at any moment.

Tired of the "Rafa brigade". What next - a procession down city centre with the Rafatola aloft?

Wasn't given enough time? Like Kenny?

Its probably Rafa himself who set it up, he's that desperate to come back!!

They just forget how bad he was. yes he won us a champions league and gave us that great season in 2009 but i remember how he always made ridiculous substitutions at terrible times. he had players on ridiculous wages such as aqualiani. and when you buy 75 or so players there are always going to be some that work out.
derryred

Boring tactics? number one rank in europe cant be boring tactics, winning at the nou camp, san siro, bernabeau, old trafford (4-1!!) and beating chelsea's home record cant be boring tactics. he improved us every season until he had one blip and loads jumped on his back, and considering he left us with a poor squad liverpool took the most players to the world cup out of the premier league. oh yeah he won a champions league and a FA cup, also he scored the most goals in the league in 08/09 so i think calling his tactics is a bit pathetic and you need to look over your argument again

Ash....
The Real KB

Rafa and Pako together would have been an outside possibility but Rafa alone who on his own performed poorly and was sacked by us and Inter is a crazy idea. I also don't want negative football again at Anfield

He did give us champions league football. Also we finished second in the league, also brought a fresh wave of players in to live with stevie, the yanks we had ruined us not rafa, ungratful fans forget were we were with Evans and houllier, we was in champions league every season under rafa people stood up and were threatened by us, plus he loved the club and the fans.... And still does through his work for hillsborough, not saying he is best manager in the world but he is up there, took frgie time at united ... We moved up under him and have only stepped back since think whoever we get needs to be a experienced at big clubs not Wigan or Swansea!!!

Rafa had his time at Liverpool and done his best but I think getting him back would be a step back! It's about time we stopped looking back and just moved onwards and upwards! DubRed

Haha KB! I didn't set the site up. I have however written in and e-mailed a long run down of my thoughts on Martinez, AVB and Rafa however.

Ash

Rafa made us into winners tactically he was the best manager we had in a long time, do yous forget all the crazy champions league nights we had as underdogs and always shone even with the likes of traore, biscan, baros et all! Yes he made some mistakes but which manager hasent? Even I got on his back in his last season but looking back now it's the worst thing we did is to get rid of him we've gone downhill since rafa went. Maybe he's learnt his mistakes and would do things a little differently if he gets the chance but all this talk of being nothing without ayestaran is nonsense Steve Clarke is still at Liverpool possibly the best number 2 in the land. I'm longing for rafa to come back not just because of what he did for us but also because I want us to be what we were. Benitez did all that in recent years I say to fsg give him a chance and give him a Ferrari when he asks for it and not a table lamp.

4-0 against Real, 1-4 against scum. 5-0 against Villa in the space of a month?...just saying

Sorry above post by neemboo new to site first post

He left us because owners forced him out, sick and tired saying this. After klinsman saga and fans turning on them for it, they set him up to fail, sooner fans get this into there heads the sooner he may get the respect from all reds. He was looked at one stage along with the special 1 as the best tactics manager around, that doesn't just end over a cpl seasons.his ended because the owners fought and fought him until he cracked under the pressure of not being aloud his 1st choice signings. Yes he made a few mad decisions before he left, but what manager doesn't now and again.

And although everyone jumped on his back for zonal marking. For how many seasons did reina get golden glove award? He is the best ma around for us. If he had the backing of these owners back can anyone honestly say we would not have won the title under him??

Agree not about Rafa coming back just the fans need to just take a step back. I'm not pointing any fingers but I'd guess it's all the people who didn't want Kenny to get sacked.

They are also they people who don't want Martinez to get the job because in their minds if not Kenny then Rafa and if FSG aren't going to take Rafa then we will not stand for this Hooo Raaahh nonsense.

To the person's that made the site,

could you make us look any more pathetic.

Liverpool fans need to chill with the nostalgia. Retreading old ground will not fix what is wrong with the club. We need someone with fresh ideas, who the players will get behind.

For four seasons under Rafa we were the top ranked team in Europe. Ok football was dull at times but it was efficient we got results. Look at his team at Valencia years ahead of the likes of arsenal and barca in the way they played football, I'm not saying he can do that at Liverpool but eho knows with the right backing? Also for the posters wanting an attack minded coach who's to say they're gonna achieve that at Liverpool? They might change they're approach and tactics to suit the squad they have at their disposal, case in point rafa of Valencia and rafa of Liverpool.

I like rafa, but come on let's leave it in the past, people go on about the good results we had but what about the likes of burnley fa cup, Barnsley at home in the fa cup, 3-0 away at everton, his fall- outs with the owners in public cos he had no money, we must of got Torres, alonso, mascherano, Reinia, keane, aqua, agger, skrtel, babel, Lucas etc all on frees, god we had tight owners!!! he has an eye for talent granted but if he couldn't win league with the list of players above and Stevie and carra then he was never gonna win it

These people are supporters of Rafa Benitez, not Liverpool Football Club. Someone should tell them that nobody is bigger than the club. They're embarrassing, and add fuel to the fire of ridicule that so many are ready to foist upon the club. Rafa should do himself a favour and start looking for other jobs too, instead of lurking in the bushes outside Melwood like a stalker. It's getting sad.

I dont think people want him back as no1 choice but more to the point he understands and loves liverpool...theres no1 at the clubs who knows who we are anymore...we are basically yanky business men with a liverbird slapped on the front!

People that are posting here slagging of Rafa, need to look at the situation we are in today, if reports are to be believed we are facing a choice between a guy who has a worse managerial record at Wigan than Steve Bruce & Paul Jewell and another whilst successful at Porto couldn't cope with big personalities at Chelsea, Rafa beats both of these candidates easily, its about who is the best man for the job, not anything else and unless Klopp, DeBoer or Guardiola change their minds then that is Rafa.

In 2009 when we finished 2nd, if Rafa got his deals that he wanted at the end of the season: David Silva and David Villa. Where do you think we would have finished the next season? 4-3-3 Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Aurelio, Gerrard, Mascherano, Alonso, Silva, Torres, Villa. Plus with a solid bench of Lucas, Babel, Reira, Benayoun, Carragher. Now you tell me what you think of Rafa!

People have very short memories - Rafa performed miracles without the backing and support of his CEO or owners. People are supporting him because they are intelligent, informed and truly believe he has the ability to turn the club's fortunes around, he has history here, he has unfinished business here. He regularly got the team playing at a level far above where it find itself today. Seriously, anyone who states "backward step" or "living in the past" are simply using a short-cut to thinking. The strengths of the club (academy structure for one) were re-developed by Rafa. Sir Masher

C'mon give us a break calling us supporters of rafa and not lfc! Pass us your wisdom and make your argument as to who is better to lead us and make us a success again, and pls be specific

Sir masher I applaud you well said

What we need more than anything is a proven manager espesh in the premiership.
Martinez has been fighting relegation ever since he came in.
Rodgers has done a brilliant job in his first season but will second season syndrome strike for them?
Rijkaard,van gaal and avb unproven and a huge risk. We need to build on the foundation that kenny laid and not take unnecessary risks and appoint someone first of all who knows the club and second if all who knows the premiership, all candidates considered only one stands out....rafa.

Hi Ed, If AVB gets the job, would Joan Moutinho be a realistic target for us? He wanted him at Chelsea. {Ed022's Note - He'd be too expensive in my opinion, although I have profiled him.}

BRILLIANT!! We lost out on Ken Aguero, so we have now turned to Joan Moutinho!!

Red G {Ed022's Note - Ken Aguero? Hahahaha.}

Ha ha not heard Ken Aguero for a long time but i think Joan Moutinho would be a great signing Im sure she was a dinner lady when I was in school

Would he cost around 20m?

If AVB takes over which I really hope he does (not that there is any particular person I don't want to get the job), then this is what I hope does in the market.

1st things 1st, Get Aquilani back and convince him to stay even if it's just for a season. and Pacheco, new manager which means new person to impress = clean slat. and hopefully he will put in an effort and get a chance because he would be the perfect replacement for maxi. he is a U20 or U21 Spanish Youth International and you don't get in there by just being the right age.

2nd get ride the players who he needs get

Hopefully or most likely to leave

Spearing
Aurelio
Adam
Maxi
Downing
Cole
Amoo
Darby
Eccleston
Kuyt

should bring in £25m-£30m, plus say £30m from owners = £55m - £60m

Get in

Top striker
Striker(Young)
Winger
Winger
Attacking midfielder
Left back

Cf; Soldado £20m

ST; De Jong £13m or David Teixeira £8m

Winger; Elia 8m
Winger; Krasic 12m

AM; Nicolas Lodeiro - free out of contract

LB; Armero £6m, Vargas (all rounder) £6m, David Bruno(porto) 19y, Luis Martins(benfica) 19y.

Luis Van Gaal to be interviewed and appointed this week! WATCH THIS SPACE
Cheers

Appointed before the interview? If the appointment is already confirmed, why interview?

Surely that defeats the point of the interview? LTIMK

23 May 2012 19:38:28
eds once we get a new manager is it possible that we could get Doumbia. i have heard we are interested. Cheers. {Ed022's Note - It all depends on who comes in.}

23 May 2012 19:20:46
iseen an interview with breden rodgers and he said he did not want to be interviewed for a job he would not get , so he turned it down , meaning if liverpool went in for him big time he would be up for it , thats different to all you lot moaning that he turned us down flat as though he did not want to be our manager ,,,,,,mickey b

How is he expecting to get the job without being interviewed then?? He can stay where he is.. He is not needed in Liverpool.

I think he is not ready for a big club job yet and LFC is a big club.

People are saying , " even the likes of brenden rodgers is knocking us back " which is not true , if he thought he was in with a good chance he would go and be interviewed , he's saying its not worth going for an interview when you know your not getting the job ,,,,,,,mickey b

Ask yoursellf a question , would rogers , martinez, or a.v.b done any beter with our team this season, if no then they would be sacked like K.K. they fired the manager now they have to walk there talk.

Ed have any premier league clubs actually made offers for top players like man u and kagawa or Chelsea moura from Sao paulo or is it all talk {Ed022's Note - Man United are currently in talks with Kagawa yes and it looks likely a deal will happen. Chelsea have apparently made a bid for Moura yes, but I need to double check that.}

I believe an offer for moura was rejected at about $32.3 million {Ed022's Note - 32.3 million pounds, yes.}

Well that picture proves absolutely nothing, its cropped so much you can't see where he is, it could have been taken any time over the past year and he isn't with anybody related in any way shape or form to Liverpool football club

eds, do you know if van gaal has actually had an approach, and if not do you know if FSG might use him as a back up if they fail with their other targets.
YNWA {Ed022's Note - I am unaware of any approach.}

I think it could go 1 of 2 ways with van gaal, he could be a mentor to a younger manager and advise and help him, which i think would be a shrewd move by the owners, or, his ego could get the better of him and he could try and muscle the younger manager out of the job

23 May 2012 17:54:14
Hey Ed's not much talk of Unai Emery.
Any chance of him for the Managers Job {Ed022's Note - It's possible I guess.}

Wigan post suggesting Martinez flew to Boston yesterday instead of going on planned holiday to Barbados

Whoa is his holiday to Barbados going begging then? Pass it this way please

23 May 2012 17:09:23
My sisters bro in law talked to rafa yesterday on the wirral. He asked him would he like to manage LFC again? Rafa said he would jump at the chance to but he has had no contact with FSG. I would not have rafa back as i feel it would be a few steps backwards. I say never go back and kenny has proven that.

Andy Kophead.

I really cannot understand the PR of this pimp my managers job/x-factor that is going on.
This could all have been handled so much better than it was and if Kenny's sacking had of been delt with better then this would not be the big red issue that it has become.
After the way the last owners carried on of course people are now nervous we have no manager and nothing new about the stadium not to mention other vacant employ roles at the club.
As for Rafa I'm 33 from Newtownabbey in Northern Ireland and I want him back so it is not just Liverpudlians.
We have been rejected by managers all over the place and Martinez a manager who just about keeps his team in the Premiership every year but yet never improves them. They are never secure until the end of the season yet other teams even ones that have just been promoted finish above them.
I honestly believe that Rafa is our best hope. He was building for the future by making one of the best academies in Europe. We were still competitive in the League and Europe and we were building a truly great team. All of this was being achieved with Hicks and Gillet fighting with Rafa and fighting with themselves. Rafa having a sell to buy policy put on him and him having to sign a lot of cheap players or freebies to take a chance on. The book by Brian Reid 44 months with a couple of cowboys gives an even greater insight into how bad things were and what Rafa had to cope with especially in his last season.
So if us Liverpool fans want Rafa back surely you should understand why. And if us fans have doubt as to any owners intentions please understand why.
All we want is whats best for our club and if we sometimes seem a little over the top I would hope that fans of any club would understand that that is all it is.
Rafa is a far better manager than anyone else we can get and lets not fool ourselves if FSG get this wrong they will loose millions of pounds. They will start loosing the support of us fans and the club could become a mid table club with a disillusioned fan base that could take years to turn around.
Rafa Benitez is the bridge that can make us a better club and in my opinion and that of many Liverpool fans opinion there should only be one candidate for the job, Rafa Benitez.

Andy Kophead more like Kop'on

Isnt that you? your sisters brother?

Rafa would not work in my opinion.Apart from the fact that he has failed in everything he has done since parting with Paco Aysteban, it is not a good idea to go back. Kenny did and it did not work out, it very rarely does.We must look forward.With regards to the critisism of the owners, how can you pass judgement when you only know what you have read in the papers?
I liked Kenny the man but have to admit he did not achieve enough as manager this time around.
We all talk about the Liverpool way and the club keeping it's business quiet but when they do many complain.They will tell us what we need to know soon enough.A little patience and a more positive attitude is all that is needed.

I dont think Rafa will come back as the owners wont want someone who has the Kop onside so easily. I think that Rafa was terrible in his last season and lost the respect of the players. He did make some good signings but some that were terrible, We cant go back there

I think people forget how boring it was to watch liverpool under rafa... kenny atleast made us decent to watch! {Ed022's Note - Until we lost.}

Sorry Ed022 but football is an entertainment sport... would u prefer it if every team played like stoke if it meant the league was closer? I would rather play like Barca and lose than play like Rafas team... aint done Arsenal too bad lol

Reports coming from portugal saying AVB got the job lets hope their right :)

D690

Hope so, I like AVB!

Adam

Im hearing it from the right people over here in Ireland aswell, my bro is an odds compiler for a big Irish bookies, they've just suspended the betting after the big hitters got their money on

Out of the candidates i would love AVB as manager ....plays attractive football. We must remember Chelski is ruled by the old timers in the squad and that was his downfall , but he still did lots of good while there and just look at his record at Porto

Where are these reports from.

Scouse ben

AVB's agent speaking to ESPN suggest he is hedging his bets looking for longevity and a club with a strong technical plan - I read into that that he is lukewarm on Liverpool and will need alot of tempting. Martinez = hot favourite now

Hope so I rate AVB highly and with Louis Van Gaal to support him I think that's a promising partnership.
Skurks

AVB is a winner from his time in Portugal. I do not have a great deal of knowledge about Portuguese football, but is winning the league and cups there the equivalent of winning in Scotland( ie a two horse race). I think the fact that two Portuguese teams where in the Europa final shows that they are a higher standard than Scotland. I think it would be difficult for any manager to come to England and win straight away.Especially with vile personalities like Terry and Cole on board. His credentials are superior to Martinez who has won the old third division and little cup success. Mourinho and bobby Robson are two good mentors to have had also. I would have liked Klop but an AVB and van Gaal combination would excite me. Nothing is nailed on on football except maybe with slur Alex and mourinho.

I hope your right

AVB with demands: Wants to sign two players of his choosing. (Looking to FC Porto?)

He needs more than 2 players to turn us around

This vile little arogant man hasn't even got the job and hes making demands as though he has a right to. Disgusting.

Please say its not so!! I couldnt stand another shambolic season like a two seasons ago with roy hodgson. This guy is soooooo over rated and so going to lead us to mid table season after season.

Let him FSG!!! might actually get good players

Let AVB get confirmed first..

How can you call him vile and arrogant when you don't even know him? It takes a very vile and arrogant person to make a judgement like that.
We do not know what he can achieve until he gets started on the job , that is even if he gets the job which is purely guess work at the moment.

Hulk and Mountinho? Please?

He hasn't signed yet, not sure if he's going to sign. But those seem to be his demands if he's soing to sign.

Yes comments like 'vile little arrogant man' are not welcome here, just no need at all. You must have some issues there. Either you agree or not, it's not too much to ask is it?

Anyhoow, I read a really got blog post last night reading that AVB's style at Porto would suite LFC can't remember where I read it sorry. But it mentioned playing a high defence-which would suit Agger and Skrtle. Renia-sweeper keeper as he was taught in Barca. Good DMF that keeps the ball moving- Lucas. And using Suarez more as a RWF. I think it was 4-3-3 but not symmetrical so to give over lap for the RB and LBs. Anyway it got me thinking that his style would be great for us. It just didn't work at Chelski because of the age of the squad and a handful of stubborn players. Right I need to find the blog post now so I can share it with you all.

Would love AVB to come. It's the perfect project for him, and let's hope he wants to bring in Moutinho and Rodriguez. Hulk is unrealistic.
Anyway, whoever get's the job needs to be suported

AVB did sign MATA - who was chelsea's stand out player at times last season

In reply to the one who mentioned the blog, i believe it was written by someone called kate cohen if that helps. a very good read.

Dirks been good over the years, matter of fact last season he was awful every game but scored 2 big goals, United and Cardiff and the fans back him none stop, touch awful, speed awful, dribbling awful, he needs to go and we need 2 quality wingers right and left

I agree with everything you said except Dirk has been good over the years, he has been at Liverpool for 3 seasons longer than he should have been.

I totally agree Dirk needs to go. Was a decent player under rafa but his touch is not good enough and is far too slow for a winger.

Mighty reds

He never should have been playing on the wing in the 1st place!

Kuyt is a forward! Dont know why Dalglish decided to follow Rafa's ideals with playing him wide right....

100% agree with everything you've said. And the way he moans to the press all the time does me head in

I wouldn't say awful mate

You need players that want to come off the bench and give 110% and you get that with Dirk. I much prefer a player that gives his all and more than a player with a big price Tag..........Look at last season. Dirk is no Messi or Ronaldo but great attitude to have in any Squad

AWFUL!!!

The guys attitude is an example to every other player in the squad of how you should conduct yourself. If you can't recognise that, you're not worth listening to!

Paul R

Whilst Kuyt is past his peak and probably should look for a move away, it is unfair to start claiming that he is awful. He has scored important goals and always put in 110%. If we had more players with his work ethic we would not have come 8th this season.

Personally I wouldn't be overly critical of a player who has been as committed as he has.

Dirk's been a good for us but it is time to go with our best wishes.
Also Rafa couldn't stay out of the press either.

Dirk has hardly been giving that much of a chance in the past year, and yet still maneged to make a bigger impact on our season than most of the players people like you are so keen to keep. Hes been a gentleman, loyal and a true Liverpool player over the years, giving his all when most had lost there's. I find most recent comments towards him disrespectful and distasteful. I for onewould like him to stay, for all we would get for him fee wise I think he would provide good cover for whoever comes in.
Napoleon

Not true he has a good delivery and doesn't stop running. he is allso a big game player over the years

He can't be that bad he's scored 80 odd goals in 6 season. He's a legend.

Kurt scores big goals in big games, he is often played out of position, and holland (with the wealth of attacking option they have available) still seem to rate him? Get off his case. what did downing, henderson, spearing do in the midfield this season?

Dirk will always be an Anfield Legend to me, when he was up front he scored goals.
I shall miss him

To criticise Dirk in that fashion is very short sighted. Whilst not the most naturally talented footballer on the planet, he has shown a passion and desire for the club that few others have matched in recent years. Mostly played out of position, he has given us 100% every time he pulled on the red jersey, scored important goals and always done what was asked of him without complaint. An excellent example of how to conduct yourself as a man and as a player. Clearly past his peak now, but to say he has never been a good player is simply incorrect.

A little bit of information that may put some perspective on our missing out on Champions League qualification. If we get to the group stages of the Europa League this year there are some interesting clubs already there. Lyon, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen, Rubin Kazan and Atlético Madrid. Now, most of them have at some time in the last few years been in the Champions League, like ourselves. It gives an indication of how hard it is becoming across Europe for teams in their respective leagues to qualify. When you consider, Chelsea, Utd and Arsenal have consistently qualified over the last 10 years that final 4th spot is all that is left, and it is becoming more difficult each year to achieve. This is not only happening in England but also in other countries. I was against the idea of 4th being better than a trophy, but i can understand the reason the owners are placing so much emphasis on it. The prestige and money, for being in the competition is of more benefit to the club than say a Carling Cup win can ever be. Now, with the owners seemingly demanding top four as a must, the pressure on whoever takes over is going to be immense. Tottenham proved last year wasn't a fluke by actually finishing in that coveted fourth spot. And let's not forget Chelsea also finished outside of the Champions League places, however, the final win rightly gives them the spot ahead of Spurs. So, realisticly next season we may also be competing with Newcastle if they continue their good form and maybe another team will perform like they did also. Considering the huge points difference wetween Man City and Liverpool and us and those teams who finished in the Champions League places it will take an unbelievable change in fortune for us to come anywhere near that 4th spot. Therefore, whoever does become the manager should hopefully get the full support of all Liverpool fans from the very start. Because, if we bicker and criticise before giving them a chance it cannot help and we can only end up not playing Champions League for a very long time. Sorry for the long rant but it is worth thinking about how difficult qualifying for Champions League is becoming. Hopefully, whoever is appointed will get the backing of the fans and have us playing well enough to achieve, at the very least, that fourth spot.

Cork Red Boi

In total agreement lad. Fair play and very well said. YNWA. Irish mick

Now, is that a certain Mr Martinez there posting this as a pre-emptive reality check...?!!

Were already in the group stages because chelsea won the champions league

I concur with pretty much all you have said here. Time and support has to be awarded to both the new manager AND the owners. We have to remember they are NOT Hicks and Gillett, and so far have been pretty up front. Even when Kenny was given the gig full time Henry admitted that he had earned his chance but wasn't what FSG had in mind and would be assessed at the end of the season. It seems as though most conspiracy theorists have conveniently forgotten this!
Keep the faith.

FSG have no interest in domestic cups as they have no financial rewards. Failure to get a top 4 finish cost KD his job so who ever gets the job will need a top 4 spot or will have failed. Not my logic but that of FSG

Liverpool are already in the group stage

clm96p

According to what you read - we may have to play in the 3rd Qualifying round after all - apparently Eufa will not accept runners up in FA Cup. Just have to wait and see. Anyway, the Europa Cup was far more entertaining than the CL last year.

No Martinez, if he loses the 1st match, we will start a march!

The irony of it is that EUFA is so concerned by rich owners and money they have passed regulations against it, yet it is UEFA who created this mad scramble for money, whereby CL qualification is more important than winning trophies,by turning the European Cup into the Champions League - itself composed of non-champions!

You can't make this s#%t up.

I guess you typed all that out for nothing lol

I think it has more to do with the managers and the owners. Rafa would have Liverpool back playing in the champions league in only 2 years at the most I reckon.

In addition, UEFA has created a rod for its own back. For big clubs cannot now afford not to be in Champions League. So the logical thing is for the big clubs to split from EUFA and create a permanent "Champions League", which does not rely on the vagaries of finishing in top 3 or 4.

FSG haven't said if the next manager doesn't get top 4 it isnt good enough, but want us to take considerable steps towards achieving top 4!

Big Mike

Good post by original.poster there. I hope the europa league increases in stature, there are some really big teams in it these days, and not just because of being knocked out of champions league.
I do not see why it could not be restructured so that europa league and champs were on alternate weeks and both played on either a tue or wednesday, it would increase the attractiveness of the competition as viewing would be better and teams wouldnt moan about the whole play thurs and sunday. Travelling far distances shouldnt be an excuse with Russian and Turkish teams making Champs league also.
People should stop passing europa league off, although Champions League will always be the main aim. I think with 2-3 good signings we will be pushing for fourth. I dont necessarily agree that KK lost his job because we didnt make Champs league, i think its more to do with just how far off we were, if wed pushed for the place and competed it might be a different story.
Whether we get Martinez, AVB, Benitez or even if we Shanks reborn, we are Liverpool and we support those who carry the Liverpool crest and we should put our energy into supporting from the stands, not moaning about who FSG have named as manager.

Anfield Andy

Completely Agree with you mate.. Good Post..

Chaki

They did last year,stoke went straight into the group stage

I take it you critized dalglish,

Whoever the new manager is its Champion's League or the sack. End of. He must get the financial backing from the owners but finishing behind "little clubs" like Spurs and Newcastle is always unacceptable. No excuses.

Should be top 3 spots + FA Cup winner. That would add prestige to the FA Cup again and everyone would be out to win it. Also, make Carling Cup an automatic Europa spot. Trophies should mean something and the FA has the power to allot their Europe spots that way.

All we need is the posts to be move 4 inches :D

Smithy posted before re.New Stadia situ and mentions re development of Anfield to 60-65,000.Incorporating Anfield, and sponsors, in name of refurbed ground.65,000 and ,that happening would do be ideal.What do others think? Have Eds any word on this? {Ed002's Note - No but it makes a lot of sense to me. I assume many of the fans will be uncomfortable with naming but it would always have been on the cards.}

I know this is sadly unrealistic but, any new ground (or re-named ground) should be called Shankly Stadium.

Dara D

Personally Ed, and all, I'd be very open to the idea of naming rights on a new stadium. I would have been against naming rights on Anfield as that's long standing, but for a new stadium I'm happy if it means we get a stadium fit for the future. As long as the sponsor is not Tampax of course............

SCF27 {Ed002's Note - I was referring to Anfield - a new build will not happen without it.}

Its the only way to build a new ground naming rights have to be sold. If its Air China, Coke its what makes sense to move this club forward. I love anfield but i think redeveloping is a backward step a new ground would be the ideal way forward.

I for one am in favour of naming rights - simply means that the club doesn't have to stump up the full whack of the cost. People will still call it Anfield, just like they still call it St. James' Park and Eastlands. Arsenal fans got over the Emirates Stadium (for a while it was "Ashburton Grove"), there's no reason we can't do the same.

Fsg etc do not see 300 million for new groung as being a good investment as it only represents an extra 15,000 seats .

What's more Important? Losing anfield totally by moving or keeping the heritage and expanding it albeit with a different name? That money goes to the rebuild or team rebuild and we build success. Sentimentality will get us nowhere. Snooze you lose.

Swish cleaner

As much as i love anfield and its history i think we need to move on and get a round, modern, bigger new stadium we could easily sell at least 80,000 seats a game i know it may seem a lot of money but ut should pay off. We are falling behind in ticket sales income as several teams have larger and better quality stadiums and more teams will join them soon e.g spurs, chelsea ect.

One of the many problems with re-development is corporate boxes. These bring in the real money. Anfield is and would be severley limited to the amount of these boxes

I ree with snooze 100 percent at the end of the day we all want a great team and we cant have our cake and eat it.for me its a no brainer if some one wants to give us money to call it the Carlsberg arena so what it gets u quality players

I say sell anfield naming rights keeping anfield on there.

Why build only 60k seater.. Why not build something aroung 75k, I guess around 40k season tickets are pending every year..
Fans would fill the stadium, its liverpool fc..

Chaki

Whatever way they go, I'm genuinely not bothered as long as they get a decent increase in capacity and make it a little easier and cheaper for local kids to get tickets. If that means a new stadium with a brand new name or Anfield getting called The Playboy Mansion, I'm genuinely not bothered. We all know what it really is, and no amount of press or Sly Sports calling it by any other name will ever make it anything other than Anfield.

Stop living in the past, only way
is a new stadium, we've been
talking about a new stadium
since 2000, since then arsenal,
mansour,manu all have newish
grounds,the reason we fell
behind is because we talk a good
game,think about it since 2000
how many new grounds have been
built, and were still only talking
about ours....abig club were havin
a laugh we need to start acting
like one..............

If we build a new stadium it can only be 60.000, as that's the planning permission limit.to go to 70 or 80.000 would require extensive infrastructure
redevelopment,ie roads, rail links.cost ££££££

A new stadium is a must. Forget Anfield, call it what ever the highest bidder wants to call it. Too many fans are living in the past. If the Council won't go to 70/80,000 then build on on green belt land out near Knowsley or near the M62 with excellent road access. They reckon the future is NOW, so lets move. {Ed016's Note - Building a brand new stadium is what we need to do to move forward. Even if we redevelop Anfield it will never come close to a brand new 21st century stadium)

Agreed ed, that's the problem we need to bite the bullet and make a decision
fast, 12years is to long to be waiting
for a decision on a new ground, we
missed out with SHIEK MOHAMMED
SO LETS GET A MOVE ON..........

The stadiu issue is what has really held our club back - it has taken far too long to make any inroads and it remains clear to many that without a top quality stadium you will lack a sustainable, top quality football club. We need a new stadium and we need one soon - naming rights are a given so the question is how long we are going to have to wait? The sooner we have an increased capacity, increased corporate boxes, increased revenue then the sooner we will have the ability to challednge near the tp of the table.

I fear until that until then 4th position is the best we can hope for - we are simply unable to cpmpete financially with the top clubs at the moment - Chelsea, Arsenal, both Manchester clubs - they all have vastly superior wealth from various means.

We need a new stadium fast - the sooner the better - I hope we will have a conrete announcement before the end of the year... but I am not holding my breath.

Liverpool to offer Aquilani in deal for Gaston Ramirez.

Maybe but I wouldn't want Ramirez

Liverpool to offer Aquilani in deal for family size pizza.

Ramirez is young and dead skilful, most reds on here wouldn't want him:(:(
kidmillions

Unfortunately, Aquilani ate the entire family size pizza and the deal fell through. Sorry, couldn't resist...

That would actually be a very good idea

No chnace his wages are crazy and bologna hasn't got the funds to pay him

Just to let you all know Milan won't be buying Alberto Aquilani as they've recently brought in former Liverpool target Riccardo Montolivo on a free. Cheers.

Dirk Kuyt has said he hasnt decided where he will play next season but he said he wants Chamiopns league football

Should have scored some more goals then......

Personally hope the Kuyt is sold, he runs alot and gets the odd goal but technically not the best. We need a skillfiull fast winger/midfielder like Lucas Moura

We all love Dirk's work ethic and no offense intended but, really...let's get real here...if the CL competition is meant to put the best talent on display...he ain't CL calibre.

His touch is absolutely awful & he has squandered so many gilt-edged chances. Yes, he gets the odd goal here and there but, his conversion rate is terrible.

The truth hurts...but, players need a reality check: Dirk is a good squad player and his effort can be inspiring...sadly, he's a little short in the actual skill department.

Not that Kuyt was LFC's problem but, he is symptomatic of our bigger issue: not enough quality up front other than Stevie & Luis.

Red (Not Blue) Lenses

If Dirk hadn't sulked around the place and moaned at not being picked , and put his faith in Kenny instead of muttering on in the press about "considering his future" if Kenny was still there, then I might have been bothered. But,he didn't do his bit last season, so if that's the way he feels then "thank you and goodnight" as far as I'm concerned. I used to respect the guy, but he's got tickets on himself at the moment....and he's not even that good!
KJS

Time to go for Dirk, simply not good enough, would not get anywhere near the 1st team of the sides above us.

Cannot fault his work rate, but stick me nan down the right and she'll work hard to, we do not need a forward with no pace, no vision, no finishing ability no dribbling skills. The time has come finally BYE BYE DIRK

Red lenses... Are you all there? 'dirk kuyt' isn't CL calibre? the same player that is a world cup finalist, almost 100 caps for holland( one of the worlds best in case that escaped you) and has won top scorer and Dutch player of the year. So how many players in your mind are actually worthy of playing in the CL league?? Yet has served Liverpool well being played out of position. You have zero idea about football!!

Swishcleaner

Just let me know when, I'm ready & waiting with the taxi..............

The sooner he goes the better. "he runs round and tries hard" ha yeah, but his 2nd touch is always a tackle!

Its a team effort and most of the players just strolled around if your season had started the same way u would have been in a relegation battle ..no desire or passion to win. u won a cup that no one is really interested in ..how many managers have said no not interested ...2many

I think a move for him would benefit all parties. Wish him luck.

If we get enough money then i'd have no quarrels with him

Ed002, has Ola John joined Benfica?

AG {Ed002's Note - Not at this time - there have been discussions but no agreement on a fee.}

23 May 2012 14:19:58
Hey ed's...a quick question....what is the situation of Marco Bueno??will we sign him next season??? {Ed002's Note - I don't know. Try the search function because I think someone has already answered this.}

It says on football manager he joins on the 1st of june

23 May 2012 13:20:34
Aquilani to come back? Please say its not soooooo. but quote from AC Milan Management as follows

Aquilani joined moved to San Siro from Anfield on a one-year loan deal in the summer of 2011, and the Serie A giants were given the option to buy the midfielder permanently for a set fee of €8 million (£6.5m).

However, Galliani has now revealed that they have no intention of meeting the Premier League side's demands as they want to renegotiate terms further down the road.

"We will not use our option to buy Aquilani before May 31. We will re-open talks with Liverpool in June, though," Galliani said at a press conference.

RedDan {Ed002's Note - They will offer about 3M euros for him.}

If they only offer £3 million euros they are mental. He is worth at least 10 million euros hence else why would two of the best teams in Italy want him on loan and play him just under the number of games before they are required to make the purchase?

Damion {Ed002's Note -

For 3M euros i'd rather stick him in the reserves for the remainder of his contract, and just use him for the far flung destinations we will probably be visiting in the europa league.

how are we so stupid that we allow our selves to be done over not once, but twice by these Italian clubs.

Tommy Walsh

So ed, do you think liverpool will accept such a meager offer ?........... {Ed002's Note - I have no idea but they will listen. I wonder if Liverpool might look to use him as part of a deal. We can only really wait at this time.}

A great bit of buisness by rafa , another reason why he should never come back , how much did we pay for him again , for me it was rafa sticking the knife in our backs before he left , i wonder how much wages he is on

This Italian g@nkers are all trying to play us for a fool aren't they.

Ed who might lfc try to use aquilani in a deal with? {Ed002's Note - No idea, it was simply a thought.}

The blame can only fall on Rafa to a certain point but the real problem here is the Italians are taking the p%ss! He's worth more then that, I'd take him back, Rafa got it right more often then not, even players that we thought were a mistake by him turned good in the end, eg Lucas Skyrtle

Let's face it, we are gonna have a fight to off load him for any decent amount of money, the kid has attitude issues. But if Milan didn't think he was worth having, or good enough, he wouldn't have got as many games as he did! The new gaffer should use him as a deal part, meet half way between valuations, or tell him to buy out his contract or you'll rot in the reserves.
M15rk

Liverpool shouldn't do business with italian clubs after this saga. First Juventus said they'd buy him, we loaned him for a season...by all accounts he was very good for them, but they wouldn't foot the fee. AC Milan come in and agree another year long loan deal with a 8 million euro release if 25 games are played. They play him for 23 games, so they avoid paying for him. Then they try to talk us down to 3 million. Get lost Milan...bring him back and use him as a squad player.

Theyve been stringing us along for two seasons, theyve no intention of buying him - theyll want him on loan again next year with the intention to run down his contract and pick him up on a free, or next to nothing. I say we give them a stiff two fingered salute and keep him at Anfield next year. Maybe play him. I know thats probably controversial as he gets so much stick, but to be fair, he's never had a decent crack of the whip here and lets face it, he's no worse than Adam, Henderson, Shelvey etc.

To give you an idea of how the italians are stroking every english team we sold alessandro diamanti for just under 2mill to brecia whom then sold him to bologna for 1.3 mill they still refused to pay west ham even after uefa ordered them to

That is just disrespectful to Aquilani if not us. Wow. I bet who ever our next manager will be would want him to be in the team, he'd be ahead of all our midfielders bar Lucas and Gerrard and remember Gerrard wont play all season. it's a matter of when not if. {Ed022's Note - Aquilani doesn't want to play for Liverpool and has shown nothing but disrespect to the club and its fans. Don't be a muppet.}

Part of the reason no clubs will buy him is cause he is on high wages 90k a week so if you buy him for 8 mill then give him a 3 year contract the overall fee would not be worth it for a injury prone moody player -THE POPE

Then surely we should tell Milan to piss off, as they are takin us for fools.

I would personally welcome him back to Anfield and see what he can do

Make him come back and earn his wages. Keep him away from the first team cos he's sh**e, and a big girls blouse, just play him in the Europa league, a few trips to Budapest and Ukraine on a cold Thursday night should sort him out a bit.

If we accept anything less than £5 million for him (he's an Italian international remember) then we truly are a soft touch. If we don't make a stand, ala Daniel Levy, then this will happen again and again to us in the future.

David

The owners have to start being tough about this Aquilani transfer saga...they're being tough with everything else...don't loan him to an Italian team and don't sell him to an Italian team...they can sell cheap to another team outside Italy but have a high percentage of the sell-on price...

Hi all

That SOS latter sent to FSG hasn't gone down too well with Ian Ayre, apparently he was pretty pissed when he read it.

You've got to love the papers! They haven't got a clue what's going on so they're just gonna make s**t up and name every manager under the sun. Take it easy it's only been a week since kenny left the club.

I'm told a new manager will not be named until second week of June, oh except Brendan Rodgers name to come up again ;).

The_Insider.

Ian Ayre pissed ?
What does he drink ?

Don't blame him. SOS really let themselves and all of us down sending that stupid letter making us look like a bunch of 8 year old kids. It's the end of the season, they moved swiftly in sacking Kenny which had to be done. They are looking at all avenues to find the right DOF and manager and ideally a team that will work well together. The are working on a stadium plan, they backed KK with about £70m to spend on players (not their fault kenny wasted it all!).

Time to grow up and appreciate that the owners are proper business men who do things the right way and don't run to stupid fan groups living in the past wanting to have their hands held during everything.
Mark W

The SOS letter pissed me off as a fan too. Of course we'd like to know whats going on but we have no inherant right to. As long as they get it right I don't care what process they follow. They had a business plan in place when they took over which groups like SOS persuaded them to change, they're going back to it and putting a STRUCTURE in place that they feel is best for the club for SUCCESS.

That SoS letter is a disgrace. FSG keeping everything behind closed doors is exactly the right thing to do. The minute they start discussing who we're approaching is the minute the press will be all over it with their negativity. They make enough s**t up as it is without feeding them.

Mark W dont count your chickens before they have hatched...I'm getting a whiff of hicks and gillette with FSG

My thoughts exactly Mark. I hated that letter and don't think it ever should have been sent. I like the fact that the business is being done behind closed doors and that we don't hear about everything. We shouldn't hear about everything going on. If it's anything major then the club announce it, we don't need updates on everything little step. They are the experts and the owners let them handle it.

Well said Mark

I wonder if it was the same sos guy who made himself look stupid on sky sports where every other word was erm the letter will have gone something like this we erm the erm spirtit erm of erm shankly erm would like erm to erm know erm what is erm going erm on. Id be pi**ed reading all them erm,s as well lol

Well said Mark. Absolutely hit the nail on the head

While it'd be nice to know what is going on it simply can't work like that. Whatever number of people are in charge of SOS should be removed and more patient adults installed. It's a let down because they are supposed to be representing the fans. As Kenny said when there is something to tell the people we will tell the people.

Well said mark. SOS really are making a laughing stock of the fans, I wonder who in the group knows anything about running a business. They really don't have a clue

If they'd had a new manager in place when Kenny was sacked they'd have been the first to moan that he'd been betrayed. As it is FSG are taking their time to get the right man for the job. Can't say I have an issue with that. Will another week or two make any difference to anyone but the press (who hate to not have a story) or SOS (who hate not to be the centre of attention)?

Its obvious "Mark W" is a windup Manc, OR working for NESV.
Dispicable comments from him.
NESV are killing our club, slowly but surely. Time the thickos woke up.!

"I like the fact that the business is being done behind closed doors" ---- I nearly wet myself when I read that! Details of every manager we approach are in the press every day! Also, never forget that without SOS H&G's removal would certainly have not gone as well. Trust FSG when they deliver and do not be sucked into 'spade in the ground' syndrome like we all were before.

Well, this die-hard red thinks that Mark's comments are spot on. The only thickos around here are those that don't give serious businessmen chance to do what's best for our club in a climate that is too often rank with the misinformation put out by the media and too happy to stir up trouble for their friends down the East Lancs...

FSG are doing a complete restructure of the club and are rebuilding the foundations. LFC fans who can't see that should open their eyes. They have someone advising them, who I believe is David Dein. If so, that is enough substance to show the owners are going about this the right way. LVG is apparently lined up as sporting director. With him, he will bring great football knowledge and will attract players to the club. Furthermore, his input will have us playing football that will enable us to compete both in the league and Europe; it will be attractive, attacking football! Have patience, let FSG do this their way. Last year us fans had it our way and we got King Kenny and as much as I love KK, the league table doesn't lie. Let FSG handle their business. All competitions are getting harder whilst we seem to be falling behind. We can't expect to win competitions straight away. Our competition isn't Utd or City, it's Newcastle, Spurs and Chelsea. The papers are fed up that the business is being done behind closed doors and are naming every manager available as targets. Don't believe everything you read! Y.N.W.A

Hardz_10

FSG acted without honour or integrity and treating a man of Kennys standing in such a way should never ever be tolerated. Anyone trying to justify this need question why they support this club as this is something we simply don't do.

Macca

Heard Ex Red still involved with Reds saying AVB is new boss...any truth?

King Kenny 7

If the new manager has been appointed why are there still several manangers heading to boston for interviews no decision will be made till everybody has gone through the process tell your source he's talking through his apse

Sauce? Jog on soft lad....only reapting what I was told..now get to bed you probably have school in morning..

AVB will be the manager

Well how do you know there are managers heading to Boston? Have you seen them ? Is there photographic evidence?

23 May 2012 12:34:34
Macca/ Eds is it true that barcelona have put in a double bid for both skrtel and agger, as a close source has told me this.
Garry Maccalister {Ed001's Note - I have heard nothing on that.}

The only way we'd do that deal is if messi was apart of it.

23 May 2012 12:34:29
Eds, thnks for this wonderful site. The only source that i follow for the rumor.
Just couple questions,.
-Just now, candidate to fill new manager only AVB, r.martinez,Rafa, n Fabio Capello right? Any approach made yet for Rafa?
-Vaan gal to be consifer our new DoF, is he interested with lfc project? That means every new signing will be review by him 1st?
-Is Kenny will be back to his ambassador job after this?
-Any idea hw much the transfer fund given to new manager?

Thanks for your answer Eds.

East'lfc {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, Rafa and Capello are not in the running. Rafa has given interviews on Spanish radio, talking about how he would love the job, but I don't believe he has been considered.
Van Gaal is very interested in the role, the rumours have started because of his interest, rather than because anything has leaked from the club. Impossible to say for sure, but it does seem the role will involve choosing the transfer targets.
I expect Dalglish to have a break, personally.
There is no transfer fund as such, never has been, never will be.}

Wot never ever {Ed001's Note - clubs have never worked like that outside of football management games. They just simplify it for the games.}

23 May 2012 12:29:39
A foreign sports news channel claims that the remaining three candidates for the job are Martinez, AVB and Capello. Not sure how much they know but I'm just passing on what I saw. Thanks.

My girlfriend will be delighted if it's Capello, I don't think I can handle watching much of his snooze-fest football.

My goodness his Roma side made Houlliers park the bus selections look exciting. Please no, we've been through enough.

I'm growing more and more fond of a Van Gaal / Martinez setup.

Still

23 May 2012 12:22:32
will a new manager and dof mean completely new targets?

thanks ed {Ed001's Note - no way of knowing until they are in place.}

23 May 2012 12:21:09
BREAKING NEWS - if madrid sign gaston ramires, then alsonso will love to move back to anfield. this is what ive heard. the only thing that can scupper this idea is whoever the new manager is going to be.

What a load of trip

Only a small detail then.. LOL

Has Gaston Ramirez changed his position in 2 weeks to a holding midfield player of the highest order....?

-AggerDo-

Thtas why i firstly stated IF ye nugget.

Wouldn't we be better off getting gaston ramirez as he's younger, cheaper, quicker, will last more than 2 more years, can play out wide where we need new players!!!

Why would Alonso be threatened by Gaston Ramirez?

BthekingB

However unlikely that may be it would be fantastic, I could wear my Alonso 14 Red Jersey and know the player is actually at the club!
Bommy

Alonso is not leaving Madrid, Ramirez plays a completely different role, you're talking rubbish.

This rumor is like saying that if Real Madrid sign a striker then they would let a center defender go.

Makes no sense.

23 May 2012 11:49:31
Regardless of the reports that Louis Van Gaal will be the new DoF or Sporting Director I believe from what I've heard that he will actually end up the Manager.
He had been approached by Ian Ayre on behalf of the club regarding the DoF/SD role but Van Gaal is believed to have stated his interest in the managers job!
John.W.Henry and the Board are believed to be very impressed with Van Gaals Pedigree and achievements at the top level and the fact that he is so well respected by players all over Europe and are impressed with his teams' style of play.
They are believed to have spoken to the former Holland, Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss and it's believed that the Dutchman will travel out to see them to discuss the matter.
They are believed to be close to making him an offer, as he is a free agent, along with other appoinments that are to be made in other areas at the club.
Van Gaal is believed to already having players that he wishes to target.

darrenMAC

That would be nice, hope it's true bud. But even if he becomes Director of football that would be good for us as well. here's hoping for him to be part our family

I'd rather he be manager than DoF, tbh.

It's one thing bringing in someone who's always been a Sporting Director or DoF, but to bring in a manager and ask them to do it, with another manager in place as the "head coach" or whatever. That will only end in tears.

Also, van Gaal is by far the best manager we've been linked with.

- Something Red -

Agreed.

TBh, I still don't fully understand how this DOF thing works. Seems a recipe for in-fighting.

For louis van gaal,read rafa
benitez,van gaal has a history
of falling out with players,
directors,boardrooms etc. at his
previous clubs,check his career,
a recipe for disaster.......

I think you made a lot of that up to be honest, but I hope it's true.
A proper manager who'll give them a kick up the arse and not hide behind 'five year projects' and s**t like that which just give players excuses to just turn up only for the big games.

David

Jose Enrique saying 'Welcome to Liverpool AVB' on facebook.
check it out!
Any truth eds?

Steve {Ed001's Note - no idea, I don't have Facebook.}

Yeaa bt it was posted 14 hrs ago and no confirmation yet !! ??

Congratulations for becoming the most gulable person on the web. Do you really think if players had this kind of information they would be sharing it with pretence followers on Facebook? Anyone could create a profile saying the are such and such and add a few playing photo's or images from google, get a grip lad.
Thanks AVB

It's just a facebook fan page, anyone can create one. I would take what it say's with a pinch of salt.

It's a fan page. It's not him

Which one is his real page?

Thats not his official page it's a fans page.

It's a fake profile made up by a random mate. Same as Andy Carroll's on Twitter. All rubbish. Sad people with nothing better to do!

If thats true I would think Jose is down the bookies!

Obviously isn't Jose Enrique - it's a fan page.

This is just a fan page and I seriously doubt that Enrique has anything to do with anything posted on this page. I will believe that someone is the new manager of LFC when the club announce who that persopn is, and I will support them as should all SUPPORTERS!

Just checked it out - the page isn't actually Jose Enrique. It's probably just a fan page.

It has posts further down on it like "Who is better, Enrique or Riise", and not a word in Spanish. I would have thought that Facebook would be like Twitter in that respect - I know the likes of Lucas and Suarez tweet twice for most tweets - once in English and once in their own language.

Verdad

Just checked it out. Theres a facebook page that says that "Steve" from Liverpool-Rumours is Elvis' long lost conjoined twin. Is this true?

Rumors that daniel braaten from toulouse is coming to lfc tonreplace maxi and kuyt. You heard it first.

He is 29 and struggled at Bolton before, doesn't make sense signing him

No, apparently you heard it first!

What! He can play two positions at once! Such an intriguing human being!

AG

Does he have a split personality ?
LLCOOLJM

I guess you are norwegian?

He is awful,really truly horriable! You probably haven't heard that here first cause just about everyone who knows who he is knows that he is not EPL material. And I guess the original poster is a Norwegian manc.

Hi Eds,

All the usual sites (including this one) carrying stories on Van Gall as possible DOF. Do you have any solid info on this?

I think he has a great track record in the short term, even if he does like to expose himself in order to motivate his players! Although it almost always ends up in him falling out with players, staff, employers etc. Anyway, have you heard anything?

Cheers
Barrypool {Ed001's Note - all I know is that someone close to him has been claiming Liverpool have approached him. Hence the rumours everywhere. Impossible to check from the Liverpool side these days though!}

Actually a reporter from the American side of things had his notes inadvertently hacked (do not ask me what s/he is doing a story on I have no idea but it might very well be in the run up to the Fox Special on LFC) and this was briefly put up on the internet hence it spread like wildfire over twitter. Whether this will impact on FSG's plans is difficult to tell but LVG was a statement of fact rather than an unsubstantiated rumour.

23 May 2012 11:02:36
just a thought eds. think if van gaal takes dof job he might persuade his fellow dutchman de boer to change his mind for manager job {Ed001's Note - I doubt it, Ajax was part of a huge power struggle recently, between Cruyff and Van Gaal, Van Gaal lost. All of his people were removed from the club and Cruyff's men were kept. So De Boer must be one of Cruyff's proteges, rather than Van Gaal.}

Perfect analysis Ed001!

Van Gaal is close to Danny Blint

Stadium update :my source says that they will redevelop Anfield and sell the naming rights to the stadium on the condition that they incorparate Anfield into the title. new capacity to be around 60-65000 depending on designs, planning permission and access. Also Ian Ayre has hinted at this on lfc's website.
Thanks,
Smithy.

Air China Anfield, Anfield Air China. Not really working

You're right, Ian Ayre said nearly all of that! Basically you have just twisted a few things the guy said and posted it as your own information. You have no new info on the stadium, like everyone else you will find out when the owners are good and ready. So stop posting this sort of garbage mate. You have no news Smithy so keep it zipped. RobSmith JFT96 YNWA

Your source being skysports?

op6

I am quite sure everyone related to the club knows that is a massive risk. If they change the name of the stadium, even if anfield is in there somewhere, they will be in for a tough ride.

The Cash Converters Arena!

That would be great if true Anfield Chinese airlines stadia?

Hot and sour anfield sounds about right with all the negativity at the moment.

Liverpools first signing of the summer will be River Plates young Argentinian Foward Lucas Ocampos for a fee in the region of 13million+Maxi!

Who,s making this decision?
Big Mike

Have Chelsea not already snapped up this boy?

Chelsea have a Lucas Piazon if that is who you are thinking about

Helpful Red {Ed002's Note - Might be one for the January window. River Plate's Lucas Ocampos has been looked at by a number of sides with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Chelsea maintaining an interest. I understand that Diego Caniggia took a look on behalf of Liverpool but it was decided that he would be too expensive to buy and that seems to have ended any brief interest that Liverpool had. Inter Milan, Sevilla and Palermo have also shown an interest and Juventus (not either of the Milan clubs) made a bid.}

No chance

Hello Eds has van Gaal ever been on the list he is a brilliant manager and just what the club needs.

Scouse Ben {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, he is not in the running for the manager's role, though he has been considered for the role over the manager (not sure what they are calling it now!).}

Do you believe there is a major chance Van Gaal could be Sporting Director/Director of Football {Ed001's Note - he has certainly indicated an interest in taking a role at Liverpool, hence the rumours.}

I thought it would have been the director of football role, but the media says he will be the sporting director role, whatever that is. Eds do you know, if we appointed him for this role a dof will still be employed? {Ed001's Note - I believe that a Sporting Director is instead of a Director of Football. Not sure what the difference in roles is though! Impossible to be sure without seeing the contract.}

I think it's Sporting Director Ed001. Isn't van Gaal something of a dictator or was during his time in Bayern ED?

AG {Ed001's Note - it is why he has lost jobs, he falls out with his bosses over his demands.}

I thought he was in line as the dof or is it sporting director now? CRAIG {Ed001's Note - seems to be a similar role but just under a new name, maybe so they can place more limits on the power?}

Lol...I like it Ed001...it is 'sporting director'...what that means is anybody's guess.

Eds do you think this is a good idea in hiring van gaal? cheers {Ed002's Note - It would be a shock for the players if he took a role including training.}

23 May 2012 08:05:22
Hey Eds,
Is it true that Michu from Rayo Vallecano is heading to LFC? Are there any interest in him?

(btw, this is my first time posting here, I'm new here. :D)

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know but will see if I can find out what is going to happen to him.}

Welcome "first time poster" you'll love this site.

Square tomato

I have also read this and I don't understand how we can be linked with players when we don't have a manager

Man united keeping close tabs on the player

Do you all ways write your sentences in 2 parts bot saying the same thing? are your sentences always split in 2 with same meaning?

I wonder do you talk like that? is this the way you speak?

Because I'd say that would get pretty annoying! That would bleedin wreck my head!

Samson Rasher, Sammy Bacon

Have a lovely time on the site my chum

J-Red

Way to welcome a first-time poster, bacon. sure he cant wait to post again with comments like that, especially since your comment was so relevant to the subject matter of the initial post.

to the OP - welcome! there are reports, mostly media speculation, that manutd and LFC have kept tabs on the player, with Eurosport, among others, reporting he could go for a little as 5m due to Real's financial dire straits. I would say either a bidding war will take place, or Michu will be able to take his pick from a host of viable options - although the player did only move last year or thereabouts.

Why aren't my posts being displayed eds? And don't tell me they are because I know they're not

Red Ollie {Ed002's Note - They are - try the search function.}

Can I also I ask why my posts never get posted ed? I have posted many and I've checked the search box to double check. I used to get posts up then all of a sudden they never go up anymore. Very disappointed in this as I thought it was a site for rumours and thoughts. {Ed002's Note - I have no way of checking your unsigned posts. Red Ollie signs his posts and it is easy to check and prove that they have been posted. You don't, so I can't.}

Sorry I didn't add name to my last post ( about my posts never getting posted either)

Liverpool Football club are fighting for the signuture of the Nottingham Forest full back Chris Gunter. Fulham were also intrested in signing the player,along with several other Premier league clubs. Gunter should cost in the region of £1.5 Million due to him being a regular in the Wales squad.

Hope not, watched him a few times he is poor. Always does mistakes. Kelly and Johnson are a million times better than him!

You mean AFC Liverpool are in for him? Bit of a drop down for the lad.

Would be a good signing

23 May 2012 01:24:56
Hey Ed's/Macca. Any interest in Rayo's Michu. I kept track of La Liga last year and he was fantastic. Surely a 'moneyball' type signing for his stats and the fee he'd command too? {Ed002's Note - I expect that Michu is a player who has been watched by scouts of a number of clubs possibly including Liverpool but I think it most unlikely a move to England is going to happen. Keep in mind he only arrived in Madrid this past summer as well.}

If news now said we were gonna sign joey barton would you ask the eds?

23 May 2012 00:09:19
BBCs Gossip for Wednesday:

Louis van Gaal has emerged as a leading contender to be Liverpool's sporting director. The Dutchman has made his interest in the role known, having been out of work since being dismissed as coach of Bayern Munich in April last year.
**the Times** (subscription required)

Van Gaal would be expected to work with the new team manager when Liverpool appoint a replacement for Kenny Dalglish.
**the Guardian**

54D13R

If that happens Rafa is a 100% no (if he wasn't already)

I can believe that Van Gaal would have some involvement, and I can see them trying that with either Martinez or AVB. Less so with AVB because I think he wants to be a main man, whereas Van Gaal is mad and I think they would have a roller coaster relationship. Why could I see this with AVB? Because if he is damaged goods and it goes belly up they've someone to step into the breach. What would Van Gaal's actual remite be though as the DoF role is being split?

Class if true

Rijkaard underneath?

Van gaal,no no no no no,please
no no no..........one big ego, if they
wont have rafa they wont have
van gaal he's like rafa's twin brother.......

22 May 2012 23:31:51
As I have mentioned before AVB will be announced manager this week. According to my source it will be on a 3 year deal.

Also with regards to my opinion about the plans for the new stadium, I'm hearing that a deal is closer than we think and negotiations have been going on in Boston.

Let me just say to all those un appreciative so called "supporters" out there 'I told you so' hopefully I'll be given the respect I deserve once the news breaks this week in regards to the manager appointment.

Many Regards,
Daniel Hanwell

Hope your right pal

D690

Hope this is all true.

Thanks Daniel.

Aren't you that kid ftsg1986 (also known as totally unreliable source) that used to be on that old lfcglobe website, making ridiculous statements like Silva would sign by a Tuesday, Villa would sign by a Thursday or this or that player on another day. Do you still have the same source or have you made up another one since?

PS

Any way of blocking this baffoon. 0% strike rate on all his "guaranteed" rumours

Daniel Hanwell, alright I will remember your name. Lets see if you can knock Macca off his perch!

Jack D.

Lol trying to get respect. If it makes u feel big......do it!

As much as I'd like it for AVB, almost everything in me wills for you to be wrong just to further expose you as the... let us say *inserts derogatory terms here, etc* that you are. Pathetic, and gloating before anything is even confirmed when your track record is literally 0-15 with correct predictions with some "insider knowledge."

You want the respect you deserve, once AVB (The new Manager) is installed.

What about the 100's of other people that have typed AVB will be the new Liverpool manager, before you have done?

If AVB doesn't become the new Liverpool manager., then you should just ask questions, instead of passing on rumours that have become tired after 1 week.

Lol.

Daniel - are you joking? Your predictions are laughable.

It has become blatantly obvious to anyone following the process that AVB is a frontrunner for the job - I also predict he will be the boss.

Who wouldn't?

There are lots of people saying the same on this very site.

The respect you deserve??

You said if we didn't sign Aguero last summer that you would never post again.

You just make stuff up. 'According to my source' - lol.

The worst thing is that you have so little knowledge of football that you can't even make up realistic rumours.

This latest AVB attempt is just stating the obvious frontrunner and claiming you have some inside knowledge.

Signing off as 'Daniel Halwell' in what is clearly some pathetic and sad attempt to build a profile as someone 'in the know' is also a little sad.

I love the perfectly spaced paragraphs too - the profile all fits together very well.

Sorry Daniel, you really don't have a clue. lol.

I have a feeling that you will not get your own page, a-la Macca. No matter how much you crave it.

Macca said the owners wouldn't sack Kenny.

I argued emphatically that there was no way he would remain boss.

I don't expect a page.

It was an educated assessment of the situation - which is more than you have mustered.

You just guess (and guess laughably badly most of the time)

Honestly - are you serious? I love the '3-year deal' part... priceless. Pick the obvious option eh.

BJH YNWA (I mean no harm - but you're doing my head in!)

There's nothing more irritating than I told you so's.... except premature ones based on a guess formulated using common knowledge.

What about the new stadium? are we getting a new one or redeveloping anfield?negotiations for what? naming rights? funding? planning? construction?

My vague-meter just exploded, you owe me a new one.

Coming from the same guy who said Aguero was dead on to join us last summer?! , you lost your credibility a long time ago, hell you even said ou wouldn't post anymore!

Keep it up - i follow you

You'll be given the 'respect you deserve' when you start coming up with the goods and stop guessing...

Lfcmatt

Ive seen a few of your posts now, Daniel Hanwell, and I'm rooting for you to be right..!

So what are you going to do when avb isn't appointed manager?

How concrete is the info that you are giving. because i believe that avb would be a great chose for liverppool. it would be so called unfinished buisness in the premier league for him and great for liverpool fc. he will want to prove chelsea wrong regardless how they finished their season, which was more down to luck than anything. and having lou van hal coming in as sporting director. things are looking up for lfc.

And, what's with your salutation? Many regards is incorrect, It's kind regards or at a stretch best regards. Maybe you mean many thanks (as in for taking the time to read).
You can't even get that right.....

SCF27

Mate you've been destroyed here...haha

You have a very good source daniel, its even better than knowing all at fsg as they still dont know, and their the boss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! arse

So you've managed to read the Guardian article where Ian Ayre says things are progressing, both with the public around the ground and their 'right to light' and with naming rights for a new build.

Respect is earned.

One of my sources has just told me avb will be manager as well.....s**t think i need to lay of the lsd before the fruit bowl starts telling me that rafas coming back....dave d

PS, LOL i remmber that kid on that website XD he used to go on like he knows everything, haha

thewanted

I have a good source and scouts on fifa 12 on x-box :o)

Interviews are still going on for the rest of the week and some of the managers have still not arrived in boston yet should we ring them and say daniel has said the job has already been given to avb by daniel or should i say john henry cause you must be him if you already now "pathetic"

Is aguero still coming you make outragous predictions that are so unrealistic

I suppose if you throw enough s**t some will stick.

Mate,
Whether you are right or wrong,asking for `the respect I deserve` just makes you sound like a tit to be honest.
It is a rumours site,try not to take it all too personally love.

AVB...WTF! and a 3 year deal you say..whats the point if we end up with him theres no way he'll make it past xmas

God theres some tossers in this life why do posters have to think they know more than somebody else ,were all liverpool fans we just wanna get info bout our team we dont care who knows the most

You promised that you would go away, why you still here? go! go now!

22 May 2012 23:07:18
Louis van Gaal will be made DOF and AVB will be named as the new manager, he was the choice of FSG before Kenny got his three year contract and remains their first choice despite his blip at Chelsea.

Big Mike

22 May 2012 22:52:03
In a week when all the press has poked fun on Liverpool, the time has come for LFC to regain its due respect. Andy Hunter has just reported that Van Gaal is to be appointed as our first Sporting Director. It also seems that LFC might make another approach for Brendan Rodgers. Here is the link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/22/louis-van-gaal-liverpool

The owners want a manager with title winning experience, even though they gave chances to up and coming managers for interviews, brendan rodgers rejected. He wants to be first choice, since when did he do anything to deseve to be first choice? He had his chance and blew it, avb was always there first choice but without competition for the managers position it would of been easier for him to demand more from the owners. RedTurk

Title winning experience hasnt done us any good so far. Souness houllier rafa and kenny

22 May 2012 22:35:45
Louis van Gaal in line for a senior managerial position at Liverpool
• Dutchman under consideration as club's new sporting director
• Expected to work with the new team manager when appointed

This is from the guardian what do you think eds?

Nick from birmingham

22 May 2012 22:41:13
Going by The Guardian, which is usually spot on (remember the Meireles deal amongst many others?) then it'll be Van Gaal in a sporting director role, and then AVB or Martinez as manager. Either solution would be positive for us, probably the best we could hope for around now too. You never know, Van Gaal might be able to get to us the likes of Strootman, Narsingh or De Jong which would be great for the team and our finances. High quality at lowish prices.

Do u really think anyone will want to come and play for Martinez or AVB!! Seriously who ever thinks that must b on something cos at this rate I'm going to see what the odds are on a lower finish than this season.

The best solution would have been for Kenny to stay for another season,I don't know what their obsession is with avb he was found out at Chelsea.if we finish outside top four and don't win a cup he should be sacked after 1 season.

Louis van Gaal is in line for a senior managerial role at Liverpool. The Dutchman was linked with a move to Liverpool in the wake of Damien Comolli's dismissal as director of football in April. However, while it has since been decided to change the management structure at Liverpool, Van Gaal has remained under consideration for a revised role and is the leading contender to become the club's first sporting director.

He is understood to be keen on a move to Merseyside and his appointment could herald the arrival of several new faces at Anfield, including the successor to Kenny Dalglish. The club are also set to name Billy Hogan, currently the managing director of Fenway Sports Group, as the club's new commercial director. FSG are conducting an extensive search for a manager since sacking Dalglish last week and their ideal criteria of a young coach with title-winning experience would fit alongside a sporting director of Van Gaal's experience and expertise. That plan led to approaches for Jürgen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund and Ajax's Frank de Boer, both of whom declined the opportunity to meet John W Henry and Tom Werner, Liverpool's principal owner and chairman respectively, and to interest in the former Porto and Chelsea manager, André Villas‘Boas.

Gawd when will they LISTEN!! Martinez? AVB? Bottom half of the table or mid table if we are lucky. They talk about long term plans then fire everyone and replace the manager with a twit like AVB or a nice guy but not the best in Martinez.
When will they learn!!
