With Barca transfer ban suspended etc how much interest do we retain in Tello please and do you see us the chances of us going for him greater than Konop

Believable16 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool was amongst a number of clubs who enquired after Tello in January but Barcelona said he would not be moving in January but may move on in the summer if the circumstances are right. I would expect Liverpool and Milan to push for a deal in the summer. There is little or no other interest in him.

Konoplyanka was subject to two significant offers this past summer - from Galatasaray and Zenit - both of which were been turned down. I expected to see PSG, Benfica and Arsenal make a bid in January, and possibly Fiorentina, Spurs, Liverpool, Manchester United, Schalke and Dortmund to look to the player, but it was only Liverpool that made any significant effort. Right now it is PSG, Bayer Leverkusen and Spurs who are showing interest and looking to negotiate a transfer. Liverpool seem to have dropped the interest they had.}

Great reply Ed, thank you for your input. I thought there wold be a few more in for him though. Is he one that falls in the bracket of "not quite pushed on another level" After early promise as a youngster? I personally think he is a great player and would be a good addition. What's your thoughts on him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no thoughts about him and would not speak in cliches.}

Ed2 are Barcelona open to letting Tello go if an offer comes in that matches there valuation?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes they will be. They will take the opportunity to make as many changes as they think they need to cover the two windows they won't likely be able to trade in. They are also after a new manager.}

I'd be quite happy with Tello. He's young, hasn't really shone at barca but has bags of potential and would not cost an exorbitant amount of money. Could be a shrewd bit of business if it happens.

Ed02, I was wondering if you might be inclined to give some insight as to what would make a club show an interest in a player and then drop it only 6 months later?

It seems odd that 6 months ago we were ready to buy a player and now no longer want to? Have other preferred targets become available?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Price is always a driver, the desire of a player to move, interest in other players (particularly given the summer has a lot more options available). Liverpool has been looking to other options - they might end up going for Konoplyanka again.}

Talking to a family friend of Adam Forshaw and they reckon that Liverpool are ready to make a move for him. Apparently he is having an ankle operation at the moment but the ex Everton player is keen to move from Brentford to us should we make the move. Has anyone heard about this lad? Don't know too much about him.

Believable4 Unbelievable43

He was in my daughter's class at Hale Primary school, nice, well-mannered young lad . Doesn't like sprouts though .

Agree1 Disagree1

Decent player and could potentially become quality given enough game time but I don't see him getting that with us. Unlikely to join as he is unproven at top level.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's over 21, we're not giving up a roster spot for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

This isn't actually true I'm afraid.

All that happened was that Frankie Mac got on the blower to Gerrard when the kid got injured (because he's a big fan and needed his spirits picking up) and Gerrard gave them his box at the Spurs game.

I note that Kyriakos Papadopoulous has re-emerged as a target. I rate him very highly and would be very happy to see him at Anfield next season. Is this likely or is it more regurgitated old news?

Believable8 Unbelievable18

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it.}

Ed, I remember last summer interest clubs were unwilling to pay the asking price for Papadopoulous. Would it be fair to say his injury problems over the last two seasons and lack of appearances has dropped his asking price considerably?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in him so there would be no asking price.}

Poor lad is injured again. I think he's spent most of this season in the treatment room

Agree0 Disagree0

He has just got himself injured again, for the 4th time in the past 2 years and has hardly played I think.

Agree0 Disagree0

Difficult to see us taking a chance with his price tag

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with Solar - his pricetag wouldn't be cheap and the lad has had a nightmare with injuries. we'd do better trying to rehabilitate Kelly as he could, if he manages to recuperate himself sufficiently, play a part for us at centre back next season.

Hi Eds

Interesting to see that Menez is out of contract and set to leave PSG in the summer. At 26 years old, an experienced French international, a versatile, pacy attacker and available on a free, do you see him as a viable target for Liverpool?

Cheers for all the effort Eds.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Inter showed some interest in Menez over last summer but were put off by an injury. He has said that he would like a return to Monaco but they are not showing any interest. There has been serious interest from elsewhere including Fiorentina, Bayer Leverkusen, Galatasaray, Juventus and Milan. I would not totally rule out interest from Liverpool, but they have not approached the player, his agent or the club at this time. There were discussions over a new contract but I suspect PSG are happy to let him move on.}

Thanks Ed- I think he'd be a good option with FFP increasingly relevant. Adding him and Schmelzer to the squad for next year would add the depth and high-level experience we need for the UCL without spending the silly money being quoted by various press sources.

Agree0 Disagree0

Like Quaresma, he will remain an enigma I think.

Agree0 Disagree1

Free Transfers are anything but "free". A huge amount of money will need to spend to get a free player to join, like Kolo.

Sorry ed if this has already been addressed do we or any other club hold an interest in Eric Dier of Sporting Lisbon as if we sell Coates, Robinson, Cissokho goes back and 1 of Skrtel or Agger then we'd be on the look out for another defender and he'd be a good option. Cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool.}

Cheerz for the reply

With Rafinha having a good season at Celta is he expected to be kept or let go by Barca Eds? Any interest?

G'day & thanks!

Believable4 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona intend to keep him.}

Any interest in Davy Klaassen Eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - as much as I know about him is that he was being tracked by Arsenal prior to the signing of Ozil.}

Hello Ed02,
Toure, Agger, Skrtel, Coates, Sakho, Cissokho, Johnson, Enrique. How many of these players are close to leave the club in the summer? thanks.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - Cissokho, Coates and one of Skrtel or Agger will likely go.}

For me Agger & Skrtel are currently our best CB pairing (think Aggs should start against Chelski)

So, couldn't they be 2 of 4 CBs going into a 50+ game season? Agger/Sakho & Skrtel/'Lovren' seems solid. Why Eds does it seem inevitable that one will go?
Would that one be replaced?

Why let a 1st team player go? Wouldn't Toure, Coates, Kelly, Cissokho, Robinson & Ilori on loan be enough?

Any news on Ricardo Rodriguez or Lacazette? Also any CB news?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Fulham are still looking for a deal with Ricardo Rodriguez. Arsenal and others are still interested in Lacazette. I don't know what CB news you are expecting.}

24 Apr 2014 11:27:14
Ed02 do you not think Toure will be let gone, and will Kelly & Wisdom be loaned out as Kelly needs to get his fitness back and Wisdom has done very well at Derby and if we pursue a deal for Hughes then Wisdom might be loaned back to them as part of a deal.

As we will be competing in all competitions next year we need a big good healthy squad and that means a strong 11 and players that are equally good enough to replace anyone of our starting 11. Bearing in mind that Suso & Borini will be back from there loans if Aspas leaves as expected then Borini will replace him i'd imagine and Suso will give Coutinho competition which is always healthy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I can't see Liverpool paying up Toure's contract and letting him leave.}

24 Apr 2014 13:58:36
Sign him on a free, with probably a rather hefty signing on bonus(Joe Cole anyone?) then pay up his contract?
Lol. I think he got a 2 year deal, it would probably work out just as expensive to get rid of him than keep him at this point.

OK I thought so much Ed02 he's a useful player to have in the dressing room anyway I guess and has vast amount of experience which will help the younger players develop.

Agree0 Disagree0

Toure started the season very well and he seems to have slowed down since, maybe needs to go on the diet pills again ;)

Long term it'll be Sakho and either a new signing or Ilori if he can cut it in the PL.

Both Skrtel and Agger are on big wages, they're sell on value will be decreasing each year as they get older and I don't think either of them is as good as they used to be. Agger has lost some pace and he lacks concentration. Skrtel's poor defending has been papered over by him scoring some great headers from corners, he's lucky not to give away a penalty a game and he loses his man at corners/free kicks often enough too - maybe that's why he pulls the jerseys off players!

Have we shown any interest in Lars Bender? Or what teams have

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal.}
