Hi ed's
Having seen another potential signing bite the dust in Adam johnson(Sunderland), other than sahin who do you think will come in the now 7 days of the current transfer window. There seems to be a lot of speculation in how we would play under br ,but to be honest I have not seen a dramatic change in how we play. Are we missing just one player?... Not so sure it is just one but many.
Cheners {Ed001's Note - I still expect Dempsey, all being well. Other than that, I believe outs will shape the ins.}

Potential signing? don't think so merely one more name amongst many. Glad we never got this idol waste of talent. We have one already in Downing.
s

At last AJ has gone to another team. Just can't understand why some Liverpool fans are dissapointed. The fact that Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle etc did not want him tells you all you need to know.

No the truth is that these clubs don't need have , they have plenty of wingers and btw tottenham was in the chasing persuit
Esso

Adam Johnson is much more affective than Downing! How good was Sterling against Hearts though? I know he was goosed by 60 minutes, but he should, for me be involved all the time.

Thank God AJ has gone to another team, at last we can stop the speculation about Downing mk2

No more signings. Spent Warrior kit deal on Borini Allen Assaidi and giving away .. for nothing Maxi, Bellers and Kuyt to cover Sahin loan (with no buy option, good one).

FSG will not invest in the club, only self revenue. Look at all the sell to buy stories, they're true

Weve had bellamy , kuyt, maxi arreulio go who else aqua man. and 4 players in? surely we needed to strengthen from last year so why do we need to sell to buy its a joke. get the cheque book out. we dont have massive earners

Rumours about Alonso appearing on the internet again... Am I being a little too optimistic in thinking we have a chance?
Thanks in advance.

Put simply yes... at the moment at least

Seriously, just stop!

I seriously doubt BR would consider bringing in another midfielder considering we've signed Allen and (fingers crossed) Sahin. I'd assume that the main ambition now would be signing a forward who can knock the ball between the posts. We've got enough talent in midfield now. Even if we got rid of Spearing and Adam we still have the likes of Suso hungry to prove themselves.

I love Alonso, although he was very poor the other night in the Classico.

Oh Christ not the stupid Alonso coming home again story! Not a chance mate just forget it!

The Plank

Yes. I do believe you're being a little too optimistic.

BROCK LESNAR

Oh my, that would be brilliant. Brendan would then finally be able to implement his famous 0-10-0 tactic that he always dreamt of !

Oh just let it go for goodness sakes, he's gone, we've moved on long ago, a new era under Brendan. You're the same type of joker who calls for that arrogant tit Torres to come back when he totally insulted LFC by calling us a 'small club' ... stop living in the past and look to new exciting players like Sterling and Suso and Morgan and Coady ... we've moved on as a club and so should you and all those like you! Stop living in the past.

Where would you play him? Alonso had one outstanding season at Liverpool, which also happened to be the season he knew he was in the shop window. He would be a hinderance rather than a help these days.

Spanish Chris

When sahin goes bk maybe he could come the other way for a small fee.Tommy Irish Red

No! He's gone, let it go. Alonso coming back would be a mistake, we must move forward with new young players. Ian Rush, the best striker Liverpool has ever had, came back and was never the same. We must always look forward not back!

Have some regardind andy carroll.aston villa are on the verge of making an offer for the big man!.Not sure how much there offering yet,but they are really intrested in signing him.You heard it here first people.

Sorry pal but posted this last nite,on the banter page about 8.20.
paul d

Actually, I seem to recall Ed002 mentioning Aston Villa as a potential suitor some time ago...

Make sense. Paul Lambert likes to play with a big man up front hence Holt. But can Villa afford him?! I'm not so sure. And they haven't got any players apart from Nzogbia who i would use as a player plus cash deal. Jamie

Not a chance Carroll will agree to go to Villa. Carroll will go back to toon. They are doing what we are doing with the Dempsey situation. ,ie waiting till the last moment with the hope of getting him on the cheap.

Odd. Villa always buy Carroll from me on Fifa. Every single time.

You sure you haven't picked it up from there?

TSP

Villa do not have a transfer budget.... very very small one at best.

Liverpool are interested in sturridge and are more likely to buy him than city

He wouldn't go back to City, especially given all of the players in front of him. Unless he's after even more money that is.

ChrisMiz

Don't think we could afford City?!

Coyle's Law States......

I used to like this lad. But ever since he moved to chelsea from city hes developed an ego. Hes a greedy player and i dont think he would be a good addition to the squad. Good finisher but other attributes tell. Jamie

Ha! Good one Coyle!

This is sad news, Sturridge is not good enough in my opinion for where Liverpool need to be, step over Sturridge should be at a Villa (should never have left) or Fulham for instance, getting regular games which is vital at his age.

He's been at relatively big and high profile clubs, but he's only scored 36 goals in 125 games. He's scored 22 goals in 83 games since joining Chelsea in 09/10. He scored 13 goals in 41 games last season for Chelsea which is his highest ever goal tally in top flight football.

Chelsea want an apparent £20 million for Sturridge, according to some of the papers. Liverpool seem to want £20 million for Carroll, although Newcastle have only offered £12m and West Ham can only afford an initial loan.

Personally i'd be much happier if Rodgers decided to keep Carroll for the season, then made an assessment, as Carroll pulled it back at the end of the season he clicked and got his game, confidence, dignity and respect back.

Last season was the strangest i've experienced for a long time, football wasn't always the most pressing issue unfortunately, but with a young squad two finals and some big wins against top opponents and nabbing a Uefa spot the lads came through the mill. Now we should push on as a unit. The revolving door does interrupt team cohesion and confidence which are vital.

Hi eds, any chance of Liverpool signing Affelay on loan? {Ed001's Note - I don't think so.}

24 Aug 2012 21:06:30
Hi Eds,
If Andy Carroll leaves for around £18 million could we be interested in Leandro Damiao? Spurs look likely to get William and have Adebayor so won't get him hopefully, cost over £20 million but is young, quick, skillfull and can score goals.Would appreciate a reply, keep up the great work!
Jrsoakley23 {Ed001's Note - I don't believe we are likely to move for him, not at the price he would cost.}

AVB said himself he is happy with his strikeforce

Think his club want £40 million for him, no joke, although it is a blooming joke.

I think Damiao would be the ideal replacement for Carroll to suit the new team goal ethos. I was really hoping Soldado was going to be the guy, but i'd be happy with Damiao.

I think Sturridge is going to be the striker, if we are to get another one. I'd be happier if we stuck with Carroll.

24 Aug 2012 21:19:20
Eds any chance if sahin is signed he will be unveiled during the city game? {Ed001's Note - it is perfectly possible they choose half time to present him to the fans, it might appeal to the marketing department. Usually we do wait until the deal is completely finalised, but, thinking about it, the club might see it as a good time to give the fans a boost.}

If we are losing 2-0 i think it will happen!!

Forgot to put my name haha thanks Ed 1 appreciated

What if the halftime score is liverpool 0-3 mancity? will that give the stunned fans a lift?

It is definitely sell to buy from here on in for Rodgers. No extra money being provided by FSG now. He has spent the allocated budget on Allen, Sahin, Assaidi and Borini.

Adam and Spearing will now make way to fund Dempsey, who will probably sign on deadline day for much lower than their original asking price. Kudos to Liverpool as they have played this deal very well; Fulham have tried their best but the situation is in our favour.

Adam could go in the opposite direction but other clubs are interested like Stoke and Everton if that doesn't materialize, he isn't sure on moving to London. We hope to raise £5m from his sale.

Spearing will go to Bolton after rejecting Nottingham Forest, fee close to being agreed, we want £3m, they offered £2m, expect them to meet somewhere in between.

Carroll is also nailed on to go, negotiations began with Newcastle yesterday hence the exclusion from the Europa League tie with Hearts. He had to travel to Scotland to make the "late fitness test" story sound feasible. If it was only a slight injury, why wasn't he on the bench and why did he train the day before? If you can train you are able to play. A striker will come in only if Carroll goes, otherwise Dempsey will be the only signing of the window. Sturridge is a possibility.

Jack

Plenty of money is available, but FSG are hesitant about giving the same kind of cash they gave your last manager and not get results. Plus they are trying to act broke hoping player fees will be reduced and not have crazy price tags on players who might not cut it.

Mole

We all know we had limited money available.but i think brendan has been very shrewed with what little he's had to spend.I hope we sign dempsey and sturridge,add allen,sahin assadi,borini and i think we'll have a good season.Id love carroll to stay but it's clear he has to be sold to raise funds.spearing adam are not players id be sad to see the back of.Just hope we keep agger!.

Total nonsense.

You will one day wake up from your deep sleep and come back to the real world one day

John B

I luv conspiracy theories!

I dearly wish I [ or any other ordinary supporter ] had the connections you do. I'm sure everything you say is 100% true.NOT!

The Plank

What a load of tripe

Absolute load of tosh. BrendanRogers isnt capable of lying in public, the meanintegrity is beyond question. Carroll was injured, end of.

i also personally doubt he wants to do business with NUFC anyway now

Tel 1949

Is Sahin coming to Liverpool?, Its not a done deal as yet

Did someone just post `how little he has had to spend` ! FFS

Spot on. FSG have not and will invest their money anymore. Borini, Allen, Assaidi all bought thanks to Warrior kit deal.
Sahin loan (great deal, no buy option) covered by Kuyt, Bellers and Maxi.

FSGs big we have money, will invest in young gifted talent etc. No, not gonna happen, where is Ramirez? AJ? attacking talent, young.
Why Dempsey? Well, need to sell first for that one and then (30 this season FSG policy?) so we can sell shirts in the US

It's not BR money ,so not up to him who the club sell to at the end of the day is it.

hi Sunderland fan here
has anyone heard that we have had a bid accepted for joe cole, also ive heard sunderland are in for dempsey as fulham are after kieron richardson and frazier campbell and a swap deal is rumouring in north east
Great Fans Great Club Great City
all the best for the season
Mickey

Frazier campbell is going fulham
evz

I hope that the Joe Cole part is true. I think that Dempsey will come to us as soon as Fulham reduce their demands, possibly final day of window.
#19

Heard nothing on the joe cole one mate, but dempsey could well go to you as we only enquired about him a month ago
Cheers, Figired

Joe cole would prefer a move
back to London although he is happy to fight for his place at lfc 1st.andy m

Heard nothing about joe cole to Sunderland, even if there was a bid accepted he will probably ask for ridiculous wages. Hes bleeding us dry

Mickey, you didn't have to leave your name. Let's face it, there aren't many of you about. There can't be as you've not had anything to write about for years!
DM2012

Enjoy your relegation fight Mackems :)

Think we will finish above you lot this season so no relegation fight ...

24 Aug 2012 21:25:23
Ed seeing that Macca is just about spot on with all his predictions even though 1 or 2 still have to come to fruition. Is there still a sneaky chance that Tello might end up here?

Frog. {Ed001's Note - unlikely, we tried but it wasn't to be, even we can't win them all.}

Shame as he looked quality for barca vs sociadad, couple of assists and very lively....

We dont win many Ed

24 Aug 2012 21:21:19
eds, what's the situation with dani pacheco?
YNWA {Ed001's Note - last I heard he was getting a chance to prove himself. I personally think he will be moving on when/if Dempsey joins.}

I personally think that the kid's got potential and should be kept, if only he bucks up his ideas and attitude. With that he could be something special! Imagine and team with Raheem, Pacheco, Suso, Ibe, Coady, Flannagan, Robinson etc etc all in their prime in about 7 years! Long time to wait but still! haha

ChrisMiz

Anyone else feel like we're bein had off when it comes to our younger players? Pacheco was supposed to be an up and coming talent a couple of years back. We have a terrible habit of gettin these "up an coming" kids an then letting them waste away. Who is the next one to be left to waste? Suso? Morgan? Sterling?

His finishing was rubbishe in the reserve match against wolves

And yet Dani was very good in pre season, go figure? Maybe it's because he's only human, he has good games and bad games, like all players.

24 Aug 2012 21:07:45
Hi eds, we've continually been linked with Sturridge this summer. Now Chelsea have signed Moses do you reckon that it could happen? {Ed001's Note - Chelsea would allow him to leave, so it could happen, if we move for him.}

They dont have any strikers so no

24 Aug 2012 21:04:30
Am hearing the huntelaar rumour again... Any substance in it? Great job by the way you firm of eds.

Lemsip {Ed001's Note - I haven't heard anything linking us with him. I really hope it stays that way as well!}

I saw Huntelaar being interviewed on Dutch Television News about the new season in the Bundesliga which started this evening. He is very happy where he is and I don't think that he will be leaving Germany any time soon. He's not good enough for Liverpool, anyway.
Dutchmal

Hes the same type of player as AC so no it wont happen. Jamie

24 Aug 2012 21:03:58
Hi Ed's

Heard anything on Suso and an issue with contract negotiations due to the departure of segura. Or is this someone just linking the two because there the same nationality. that seems to happen a lot.

BenO' {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware there is no issue with Suso. I will ask though, it is not something I have discussed, I wouldn't have thought Segura's departure would be relevant though.}

He hasn't been registered to the Europa League Squad and contract runs out at the end of the season! Make of it what you will?

Yozza {Ed001's Note - he is young, he might be expected to be busy with the Next Gen and U21 league or the injury I was told about could be real and longer term than I was led to believe. I really can't believe we would let him go, he has far too much talent.}

Did you see this on Karlton81's twitter, he has a good strike rate to be fair so I'm thinking he's on the money.

Robbo

A weeks a go suso tweet he is looking for a home in Liverpool. he stying in enriques house. if he want to leave then why he want to buy a home?

r-r

24 Aug 2012 20:48:57
Hi ED great job keep up the good work sir .

Anyword on Sahin ? {Ed001's Note - I expect him to have all his medical etc over the weekend and the paperwork to be submitted to be dealt with after that. Is it a Bank Holiday weekend? I can't remember now, if so, the signing can't be registered before Tuesday now anyway.}

Dunno but all the Johnson rumours were total garbage. He has signed for Sunderland, not sure I would want a player clearly lacking any ambition. I must check back who posted those rumours, they are not worth reading.

24 Aug 2012 20:39:58
Hey Eds thanks for all the info so far but how many signings or loaness do u think we will do before transfer deadline? is Dempsey going to be a last minute buy? adam johnson looks like he is set for sunderland, you reckon there could be another edition to the team preferbaly another winger? Carroll is he going to go west ham or Newcastle on deadline day? Could Downing be on his way out and Adam? Thank Eds {Ed001's Note - I expect Dempsey to come in. A lot will depend on outs other than that, though I would not expect any other loans.}

Hope you're right about Dempsey Ed. he's a good player and will improve our attacking game overall if signed.

JAnder.

Thanks for the reply Eds {Ed001's Note - you're welcome mate.}

Look out dempseys on mons radar

24 Aug 2012 20:45:13
Hi eds, just to let everyone know we are going to try and get tello next week on loan, its 50-50 chance, info from ex Liverpool ??????, thanks tiger jay

Barca's new manager has said Tello is part of his plans and will not be leaving.

The same Tello that doesn't want to leave Spain. Or maybe it will be Jesus Navas. Oh no. Same problem. David Villa. Rinse & repeat.

It's true ! ................he watched the west brom game and changed his mind

24 Aug 2012 19:11:05
Hi eds.. Any interest in eljero Elia? Tha ks for your time. Paul {Ed001's Note - not for a long time.}

He's just signed for Werder Bremen..Some people just pluck names out of the air on here.

He is not good enough for us

24 Aug 2012 18:35:08
Great site guys ....hard to figure out who to believe though....My uncle stays in Weston a suburb in Boston ..very close to John Henry and the rumours going around is Dempsey, Sahin (loan) and Berbatov ....Agger going nowhere....

Berbatov??interesting...once a manc never a scouser again(had to add 'again' because of owen)

I pray you're right!!

Don't want Berbatov

Berbatov is a good player, no doubt...but no way is old bacon face going to let him join LFC...are you daft?
Tel 1949

Bostonians and soccer. Now there's a credible source.

John Henry lives in south florida

There's more chance of Elvis coming back from the dead than Whiskey Nose selling a player to LFC. Get real, name any decent player that he sold to Liverpool. You can't, because he made it plain long ago he would never sell any player to LFC.

^ Paul Ince.

But I agree, remember Gabriel Heinze? He wasn't even that good and he still refused to let him go to us. Besides I wouldn't touch Berbatov; he's lazy, he's old and his wages will be around the 100k mark, ridiculous.

24 Aug 2012 18:25:24
stewart downing is on his way out of liverpool.With the rise of raheem sterling,and oussama assadi,brendan rodgers wants to cut his losses and sell downing,to raise funds to continue his rebuilding job.The player has been informed that it would be better if he left the club.My source also told me,carroll and adam are likely to be sold too,as rodgers tries to get rid of the dalglish flops.

Dalglish and commolli really did waste the clubs money

We can't sell Carroll in haste and then throw the money at another young hopeful - we've been there before. Buying and selling this late in the window is a mug's game. Stick with what we have up front and look for more goals from midfield. Dempsey is the obvious choice, I just wish they'd get the bloody business done.

Hopefully you are right. money not well spent

Cant see downing going mate , BR rates him and we are never going to wright of 10 mil for no reason .

Im al lfor selling downing,as i think the guy is useless.Out of all the players dalglish wasted money on,downing is the worst by far!.He's done nothing,and he aint fit to wear the shirt.Sterling did more in one game than downing did all last season.All that money wasted by the out of touch dalglish,think what brendan would of done with it.

Last poster obviously watches the games like I do. Kvarme, Biscan, Spearing and Downing. All have same thing in common. Not fit to wear the shirt.

BR rates Downing. TBH he was looking good at the end of last season and has looked bright so far this season too, so no reason for BR to have a change of heart on current form. So many 'fans' just read the tabloids rather than watching the bloody matches. Infuriating sh**e written here sometimes.

I don't think it's entirely fair to start picking on Dalglish   for the players he bought in. They were all bought for a reason, and it's not entirely his fault all bar two failed to maintain the minimum level they had produced at their previous clubs.

It was obvious from the start that the appointment was far from ideal, but having made it, it is wrong to make Kenny the scapegoat. We outplayed most teams we came up against and were a gnats dick from 2 trophies in his first full season. The league fell apart when there was nothing left to go for. I feel he had earned the right for a second season. And for the record, there is no proof that Brendan's signings are going to do any better ...yet.

Raised Eyebrow

More rubbish from a school kid with an imaginary friend he calls a 'source'

I cant see him leaving, even if he is a waste of money, if liverpool play every game of every competition they are in they will play 71 games between august and the end of may, depth in the squad is essential. and assaidi will be gone during january for the african cup of nations

Keeping downing if he is not going to play is the same as throwing away 10 million....sell him to sunderland and re-invest the money in the team. raheem sterling is class and he should be in the first team but we seem to have a problem putting a youngster in the team...not sure why. spearing is one of the worst players to ever wear the shirt. i would bid for defoe...class. we need a forward who scores 20 a season now. its getting beyond a joke being a liverpool fan...we need to get the pride back and the players need to play for the badge. we will never compete with the current squad.

{Ed019's Note - I have created a video on Adam Johnson and Daniel Sturridge, possible targets of Liverpool, soon to be on the 'Liverpool Videos' page. Here are the links:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6WOjiYDXNI
www.liverpool-rumours.co.uk/liverpool-videos.php

Thank You}

Pls create a profile on Sahin........ {

Like ur stile in music

No no thank you! :)
Suppose I'd prefer Sturridge over Johnson considering what I've heard about Johnson's attitude, training & fitness. Also Sturridge is more of the striker that we need who wants to play in the middle & looked Ok for GB there. We could also then get another budget winger like Omar El Kaddouri to make up the numbers of wingers. With Sturridge, Dempsey, Suarez, Borini & Carroll we would have forward options to be feared!

Adam johnson is a sunderland player 4 year deal get in .sorry liverpool fan.

Bit of waste of time AJ is off to sunderland apparently

Come on!!Where is Sahin??

Please somebody who knows something answer!!

thank you

great website!!!

Johnson gone to sunderland

Hi Ed019 with you posting youtube clips of sturridge and adams that there is real interest. Many thanks { Ed019's Note - There was for Johnson and there is for Sturridge }

i dont no if yous will post this but my cousin just called me and said spearing is of to bolton for 2.6 million ( hes spearings agent ) ...... dnt have to believe me but why would i lie .... fee has just been agreed ..... great site lads

I might recommend you not be so specific in your sources. If this turns out to be true, you've done your cousin no favors here.

So that would be Jay Spearings agent Ohne Berater. So now we know his name perhaps you can post yours.

Sounds reasonable.
TT

Well that's a lie.. I haven't phoned anyone today, i left my phone at home this morning. Spearos Agent

Yup why would you lie............?
same way it can be said.....why would boltan pay 2.6mln for spearing ?

Yea right , and i think im napoeon bonapart , keep taking your medication matey

He has no agent

I........don't know what to say.

BROCK LESNAR

I........don't know what to say.

BROCK LESNAR

Good! Now sell Downing to Sunderland for 8-10 mil, buy dempsey. Sell Carroll to anyone for 14-18 mil and buy Huntelaar.

Renia
Johnson-Agger-Skrtel-Enrique
Allen-Lucas-Sahin
Gerrard
Borini-Suarez

Subs: Assaidi, Kelly, Coates, Hendo, Sterling, Jones etc

Top 4 squad right there. Yes, I am in la la land or Fifa Manager dreaming about a Huntelaar enquiry. Sue me

Bolton offering £1.5m , Liverpool wanting £3m. Still negotiating - according to reporters in Bolton

Your £2.6m fee was just a guess.

Brock you didn't know what to say so you didn't say it twice!LOL!

The Plank

Might be for the best . He hasn't been the same since King of the Hill was cancelled

Jay spearing is a good kid, he loves liverpool and will always give a 100%, but if we want to ba challenging for the top honours, we need to replace jay, adam and even henderson and downing don't seem top players, downing got on at left back last night, and maybe brendan has got something there, because he works hard, good at sefending, lb is where he sould play, replace the others with sahin, dempsy and a player like yaya toure!

So why buy Huntelaar and then not even put him on the bench?! Manager of the Year there!

Coyle's Law States.........

Well hes agent name i cant give , hes first name is Mathew ( Well a few months ago he was hes agent , dont no if players change agent , he was also darbys agent and use to be james milners ) ... hes my cousin but havent seen him in ages , i live in ireland but i always get a beer with him when i am over ...... spearing and milner attended hes sons wedding and milner was nice enough to pic up the drink tab

The Plank, I don't know how it was posted twice. But I assure you, it was unintentional :-)

BROCK LESNAR

Lets hope sobecause last season he cost us the fa cup and the game vs manchester united i dont even know why he was ever played because he simply isnt good enough you dont see man unt playing a crappy midfielder week in week out {Ed001's Note - Anderson!!!}

No chance not at that fee his age alone and the liverbird on his chest requests a sum above 4m

24 Aug 2012 14:28:18
Hi edds do you think anyone else will sign? other than Sahin of course

Cheers
Harry In Wiltshire {Ed052's Note - Dempsey perhaps. Maybe a suprise. Maybe no-one else}

Yeah thanks for that eds great help {Ed052's Note - No problem. Its so hard to judge haha}

Is there any chance to sign a striker without carroll leaving? {Ed052's Note - Yes}

How about johnson / ramirez / walcott ? I've heard that walcott isn't agreeing a new deal with arsenal

Who have you heard that from

Johnson is on the verge of joining Sunderland. Ramirez aint gonna happen at his asking price. I seriously doubt Walcott will as well.
DAni

What outcome is expected of Carroll saga, will he go or will he stay?

Ed052, you're saying that, there is a chance of signing a new striker without Carroll leaving but a few days ago Ed002 said he would think Carroll would need to be sold to raise the fund. Can you clarify this, please?

BROCK LESNAR {Ed052's Note - Well, it depends which striker comes in.}

Herrera to sign.

I don't think any names that have been mentioned recently will sign. I think sahin is as good as in the bag, but as far as a striker is concerned, I reckon its another assaidi. We will check the net and boom two strikers signed that we never heard of. :))) I'm not optimistic lol jamie

Arsenal fan here.

Walcott is on 60k/week, he want 100k/week, arsenal offer 80k/week.

100k/week is joke, now no club is ready to pay for it and give him regular start except one unnamed club which has no considerable shot to success. (Maybe QPR or something like that)

He's not irreplaceable, so if he does go i hope arsenal buy replacement quick.

Caroll will only go if a bid off 16 m is on the table, lfc have money to spend but want to make sure they find the right player. i feel we will sign one more as well as sahin. but who i dont no i think we should throw the 10m at fulham and have done with it. i think his worth it look at his goal ratio as a midfielder

Huntelaar ... fingers crossed

Villyan Bijev is rumoured to be loaned out to norwegian side IK Start in the Norwegian 2nd tier. A work permit is still unresolved and he will continue his loan spells abroad.

If he played for united he'd have a rubber stamped permit at the drop of a hat.. role on the day he comes to liverpoool great young talented player

Is there actually a point to this post?

He's going to be another Leto, I can just tell.

Also, it is believed that Sturridges' agent has spoken to Liverpool reps and was impressed and now Daniel himself is eager to spaek with Brendon Rodgers regarding a potenial deal. It is believed that Chelsea would not stand in the playes way if an acceptable offer was made.

Col

Why would Liverpool and more so Brendan Rodgers buy a notoriously Greedy player who will not fit the style he is trying to implement.

It is believed by whom. Col you are getting a bit cryptic {Ed002's Note - It was something I had said.}

I liked Sturridge then his reactions in the Olympics made me question his mentality.

I am not going to pretend i know what it's like to be in that pressure pot of a scenario he found himself in, but he was out of order.

I don't particularly rate him, i heard the commentator say that he was good up until Christmas and then defenders worked out the Sturidge step over and he struggled after that.

Chelsea will be asking for a big fee i expect as well, so i'd probably not bother signing him. Not when there are other players around Europe who are at a much higher level willing to move to the Premiership for the quality of football and the quantity of cash that can be made.

Can't stand him

Better than downing and thats good enough for me

Define "acceptable offer" Col. No doubt they'd find £20 million acceptable and we wouldn't.

The Plank

Sturride is sh*t! shelfish player who can perform in the big game...we don't need hime. I would take AC over him anyday of the week

Sturridge is pretty useful and I would have him over Borini (at the moment). Can't say i like him but he does score.

Pompey red

Can't believe how many persons here dislike Sturridge so much. Yes, he can be greedy at times, however he has pace and trickery in abundance, a good shot and is capable of playing some excellent passes as well as final third balls when he wants to. Not sure how many of you seen Chelsea vs Reading the other night but he played an insane Alonso-style cross field pass. Guy is pure talent, just needs to be nurtured under the right management team.

Manali Cream

Agree with some of the "greedy" comments. But DS is hungry to score goals and does score ... A talent that can be nurtured. Let's face it, we need goal scorers who can play with the ball on the ground ... And AC aint gonna cut it (as talented as he may be).

I thought Chelsea would need to agree to anything before LFC spoke with his agent or himself

Hi ED002, it seems like there is some movement this morning in the betting for Spurs to take Adam Johnson, and Liverpool have all of a sudden fallen out of the equation. Only a couple of days ago The Independent were reporting that we were in the driving seat for his signature. Is there any more updates as far as this transfer is concerned? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new that I am aware of. Odds are impacted by bets placed so are in many ways irrelevant.}

He is in talks with sunderland as we speak

A website reporting that johnson his way to sunderland.

What rubbish AJ is in talks this morning with sunderland

So what if he's in talks with Sunderland?
Sahin was in talks with Arsenal a few days ago?
It's not rubbish at all? The poster has asked a perfectly valid question. Chill out.

Eddie

Aj wont be at anfield

I agree that odds themselves are meaningless but an influx of bets on a certain topic are generally caused by new information in the media regarding it. surely spurs fans must have heard something to cause the odds to change?

I actually hate that North London club with a passion now. Go and look for your own players!!

Spurs at it again, someone tell 'em we're looking at bringing fat Ronaldo out of retirement...see if they bid?

We were never even interested in Johnson , that's typical of the independent. We will not be signing Johnson.

Aldos tash

Raheem Sterling is gonna be a better player for Liverpool than Johnson ever would. There are reported problems with his temperament and attitude so i hope he goes to Spurs.

Johnson is nailed on for Sunderland, and to let you know what type of guy he is, he will be moving there because they are the only time that will pay him the wages he wants. I go straight from his best mate.
Goodkopbadkop

ed what's the latest on on a striker ?.are gaffa rodger stated what we need more fire power up front but as yet no news.we have so many midfielder's now ed its crazy. it must be time for some of the boys to walk on now ed to unlock some funds rodger's must have a plan,jay essex red for life red till dead {Ed002's Note - I would not write off the DEmpsey move yet Jay.}

No offence Ed , but isn't Dempsey more of a attacking mid-fielder or wide forward ?
Sod it i say , break the bank and try for Falcao.

JR

I hear there been a bid made for titi camara

Hhaha falcoa living the dream there kid dont anybody realise that quality players want to compete and challenge for honours something lfc are a long way away from at the moment patience is a virtue and theres a long fall before talk of marquee signings should be thought the clubs in a bad state and things need to steadied which unfortunately means a couple of seasons fighting for mid table obscurity

Yeap we say one thing and do another

24 Aug 2012 09:57:41
Hi ED002, it may be just be but Im seeing all this talk about Sahin again and him signing for us today, I wont beleive it till it happens, we all got excited about this weeks ago.. but anyway do you know of any truth to this?

Also rumours around daily are that Carroll is out the last day, Adam & Spearing also disappearing, could you see this happening? I personally think if all 3 go, it'll be a good move!

Any solid news on any other signings?

Thanks.

Don. {Ed002's Note - Fazeli has confirmed that he met with Liverpool on Wednesday and the offer to the player was more than double what had been agreed with Arsenal. There seems to be considerable misinformation (some coming from the BBC) about the financial aspects of the proposal. Expect a decision some time today.}

Thanks for the info mate

Don

Hi Ed, when you say 'offer to the player,' are you referring to a signing on fee we've paid to him? I thought the only fees involved would have been the loan fee to Madrid and then the wage costs? Cheers

DP {Ed002's Note - Wages and "other fees" to the player.}

24 Aug 2012 11:06:28
Eds, Who is Fazeli BTW? And why is Macca quite this days. I think he is again bang on with Sahin's deal.
He is awesome ;) {Ed002's Note - Sahin's agent.}

The update is on the liverpool website too. A decision is expected in the next 24 hours

The Echo are reporting - in direct conflict to the BBC - that there is no option to buy at the end of the loan. Which of the two is correct?

TSP {Ed052's Note - No option}

Remember the days when guys wanted to play for Liverpool. Now it seems its just about the money...

Ok, cheers Fiddy-2. That's a shame but hopefully he does well anyway.

How close is it now? Has he had a medical yet or is there still some wrangling to go?

TSP

Hi eds, I just want to know are Macca & Ed033 the same person.

BROCK LESNAR {Ed033's Note - No.}

24 Aug 2012 09:51:21
Hi Eds, I know you continually asked about sturridge transfer situation but I was on another football website and they were saying we are in the front to sign him ahead of man city. Anything knew here or still people making stories to fill the pages?
Cheers great work,
Seeknick {Ed002's Note - I have not checked this week but as of last Friday Liverpool had not spoken to Chelsea about Sturridge.}

Chelsea don't seem to be overstuffed with strikers at present, so I wouldn't expect them to let Sturridge go unless someone else comes in before the window closes.

Ahead of City? why would they want him

24 Aug 2012 09:44:41
Hello Eds,
I am sorry if you have answered this before but could you please tell me the loan fee for Sahin deal. I heard it was 2 million now some Arsenal fans claiming it is 5 mil thats why they backed out. I just want to know if they are right or just being bitter. {Ed002's Note - Fazeli has confirmed that the offer made to the player by Liverpool is more than double that agreed with Arsenal.}

Thats an offer to the player, no an answer to the question asked.

If we are ready to pay that mage wage..we would have got kun aguero with us or any other good strikers.. {Ed002's Note - Rubbish.}

When it came out that arsenal where close to getting him, I was was one saying liverpool should get out there and get this man to Anfield at whatever the cost. I am happpy that we getting him regardless of the cost. There is reports the deal is costing 10 mill, if this is true then FSG must have money to burn and just playing hard ball with the football world so we don't pay over the odds like city Chelsea

It's not that arsenal fans are being bitter it's that we just offered a much better deal. As we all know the better deal 90% of the time gets accepted (e.g sigurdsoon). However if sahin was a long term target for them and we came in and stole the deal from them then you can say they have a right to be bitter. However we were in for him first this summer yet arsenal fans keep saying we're in for their targets somehow...?

24 Aug 2012 03:47:25
Eds please post this ive just heard some BIG news! Agger might still go to city (20 million plus adam johnson) ! Also Andy carroll will be going on the last day of the window in a straight swap deal with coloccini perfect replacement in my eyes?! The agger money will then buy sturridge & Butland! Due to doni & jones going this week we need a quality back up! We will also be getting sahin and drenthe (loan & free) Cheers!

Daley

I'd rather keep Carroll and play him at centre back than have Colloccini. Apart from that I wouldn't mind seeing Butland at the club, the rest I'm not so sure about. Undoubtedly they have the class we're missing but do they have the work ethic?

Kenny the Red

Straight swap Carroll & Colocini ? So we;d effectively be getting 8-10m for Carroll - don't think so

Carroll for Coloccini - funniest, and almost the most ridiculous rumour yet - there is possibly a 20 million difference in valuation between then - Colocinni, very average centre half.

Rubbish ! Stupid ! With lots of pointless exclamation marks !

Coloccini is 32 and if you believe we'd do a straight swap for Carroll you're deluded. Also £20 PLUS Johnson for Agger is a no chancer.Apart from that you're doing well with your predictions.

The Plank

Why would we swap Carroll for a 30 year old defender? He is hardly worth 8m GBP tbh

I really hope this is true sounds like a great bit of business ( apart from agger but collocini as a replacement is ok )

Hope your right mate

Sponge Bob

Swap our club captain for a 3rd choice striker? I don't think so.

Lmfao spongebob are u daley in disguise, funniests post and reply i have read all week omg, simonpw

Carroll for Coloccini? I'd be happy. Carroll is probably worth £7m-£8m. A straight swap with Coloccini would be a good choice & Butland would give Pepe some pressure as well. Really hope, we get Sahin. Not so sure about Drenthe though.

BROCK LESNAR

You need to keep taking your meds mate , and stop fantacising about working for LFC

'Daisy'? ...any relation to 'Maisy'? ...similar ridiculously specific, unlikely scattergun suggestions, from the 'one of them's gotta be right' school of rumour concoction. Fun to read, but not particularly promising sequence of events (were any of it to happen) and I've just fallen into your clever trap of responding - damn!

Raised Eyebrow

Wow amazing news hope this is true

You forgot the "you heard it here first" line but i sincerely hope your right without us losing Dagger...

Well we're at it, why don't we just swap Gerrard for Butland, then we can turn a profit off the Agger deal... Where do people come up with this tosh?

Drenthe has already agreed a move with west ham as he is afree agent

Drenthe just signed for west ham u muppet

Adam johnson is of to sunderland so that rumour is dead

Be good but cant see it

To the posters saying Colichini is an average centre half.... behave lads, he is a good player and in my opinion probably a touch better than Skirt due to his ability on the ball.

I agree that the possibility of a swap deal is unrealistic due to his age and the fact that no money would change hands.

If Newcastle buy Carrol it should be minimum £20m and possible £17/£18m to any other club. I'd rather just tell Necastle to do one full stop as Michael Ashley is a complete p*** take.... If I was Ian Ayre and met up with him and he offered to take him on loan with a view to sell at £12m, I would come out of that office facing a Jail sentance I think!!

24 Aug 2012 12:39:30
I love the Adam and Agger deal, although i hate to lose Agger but the carrol deal is not good at all, carrol is young and i still believe he'll get himself soon and he's really trying, let's look at Torres, if he wasn't given a chance in Chelsea, he'll not be doing well, let build up also helping Carrol and he'll be better, let get Dempsey and a good defender to replace Agger, i don't see a cheap defender that can ever match Agger, I'll neva walk alone, I love liverpool

Collucini!! Give me strength. Why the hell would we even entertain a swap for a 30 year old average defender who still thinks he's in the 80's with his ridiculous hair. Not a chance.

So Carrol will go on the last day of the Window and we will sign Sturridge and Butland! . How fast do you think these things happen?

Some one tell this lad who Drenthe has now signed for...

R2TB

Sweet Suffering devine Jaysus- Collocini is the worst defender in the Pemiership. Iwouldn't take him if they were giving him to us for nothing-he's an accident waiting to happen.

Worst defender in the PL .That would be why every pundit had him their team of the season last year then .person

Dries mertens and Griezman are the top targets.
CatalanRed

I wish we had Dries Mertens of PSV on the wanted list along with Pablo Hernandez of Valencia.

I think they'd both be very good for the team and would help create many chances. These players have big effects on their current teams and in very positive ways.

Dries Mertens will be about the same price as Joe Allen, around the £15m mark and i think Pablo Hernandez would be about £6 million which would be exceptionally good value.

Can comment about Giezman but Mertens wouldn't get in at Neverton never mind Liverpool. No go mate sorry.

Would be happy with Mertens or Griezman. Mertens has the habit of scoring for fun

Dries Mertens would be a very welcomed player to both Liverpool and Everton, exceptional player.

Would love us to snap up Griezmann, think he is gonna be a top player in few years and would prefer we get him before his price sky rockets

Griezmann would be £20m so no chance.

Liverpool to announce possibly to deals by tommorow. One defiently being the sahin deal.

4REE GAZA

How would you know that?

Sahin is signing for you (only because he isn't available on a Tuesday or Wednesday night..lol.
Paukl Belfast

Lol he is not coming to Arsenal because he does not want to join MANCS
st
YNWA

Isn't Arsenal just a stepping stone for Man City or Barca?
He wouldn't want to join Barca after playing for Madrid and might not like Man City... So why would he join Arsenal ?

He dont want lfc or arsenal only moving because mourinho wants him to get experience if it was left to sahin he stay in madrid

23 Aug 2012 23:28:41
If Liverpool get Sahin in on loan. This will allow Shelvey to sign for Swansea on a year long loan deal replacing Sahin in the squad for next season. Dempsey will sign close to deadline day. Spearing has the choice of two clubs, Forest or Leicester. Bolton will not need him as Swansea will not come back in for Davies if Shelvey arrives, so a lot is riding on Sahin, who I believe will be a Liverpool player by the weekend.

I live in swansea and can tell you there is absolutely no chance of shelvey going the swans.

Shelvey has been outstanding the last few weeks
spearing and adams will go

I must have watched the wrong game last night then as i thought shelvey was awful

Why would Brendan send Shelvey on loan when he's just signed a new contract and Brendan likes him. He is potentially one of the best young midfielders out there ... oh I get it, he had a poor game so now he's rubbish, and when he has a good game, he'll be great again. Fickle LFC fans go and support another club we don't want or need you!! persons.

Brendan will let Shelvey go on loan for a year because he knows that Shelvey wont get enough game time at Liverpool because he is not quite ready to be a regular in a team that wants to be competing at the top. A year away playing regularly,in a team which plays the way Brendan wants, will be good for all concerned and we have plenty of cover in this position if Sahin does arrive. And its not being fickle, I rate the lad and think he is definately one for the future, just not yet.

Ed with Fulhams complaint bout LFC have we blown chance of Dempsey? Do we do anything so different to others ed?-dare i mention tapping up(all do, dont they)-not saying we have. But we do seem to incure more wrath than other teams. Remember-Ziege? {Ed001's Note - not completely, it still seems more likely to happen than not. Depends on how stubborn Fulham's chairman is, I don't know much about him, but it will be him who decides this issue. Fulham are more bothered about Dempsey's attitude, if we had been able to agree a deal there would be no complaint. I have no problem with them complaining though, if we stick by the rules this wouldn't be an issue.}

I think it's just a ploy by Fulham to force us to pay over-the-top fee for Dempsey. A player nearing 30 and only have 1 year left in his contract isn't worth 7.5mil.

If you want to know how stubborn he is, read his history with the royal family

Man Utd payed over 20million for a player the same age in the last year of his contract.

Red Raw

Is it just me who think that Dempsey's unprofessional behaviour is a concern should we sign him?

Dempsey's attitude towards Fullham wont be an issue for us. He WANTS to play for us. Fullham are holding out for 10 mil and Dempsey is a bit frustrated that his price can effect his move. It's understandable, however fullham are also the ones not letting him play.

Heard a rumour that BR is trying to completely re-shape the midfield as he's told the owners what most of us already know that the players we have are not ever going to take us forward, he rates only Lucas, Gerrard & Shelvey but is willing to give Henderson the chance to shine under his guidance for another season,

apparently he has told Downing, Adam & Spearing they have no future in his team & will only keep them if he's forced to by not being able to get rid or get his targets in, hence us still being linked with midfielders, Adam we all know from the Eds great work is attracting interest from a few clubs so shouldn't be a problem,

Spearing is only attracting very small bids mainly from the Championship & a few loan offers so difficult to shift & the only team interested in Downing us Sunderland as O'Niell is still a fan but has set a £7million tag on him we want at least £10milion., replacements in centre midfield expect only one permanent & it to be nobody we've been linked with, if all these 3 go expect a high profile loan in midfield,

possibly these Kaka rumours may have substance as I've heard the loan in midfield will to be cover Gerrard not replace others as he's had a serious illness caused by the infection last year which has restricted his games not the niggles that had been reported.

From what I've heard defence is not being addressed until January as BR feels he has enough, unless we have departures, in attack there will be a winger & striker possibility of one or both being loans & if AC leaves then an additional striker will be bought, that's all I've heard, I work at anfield & I'm not claiming to be in the know & I don't work at the top end in just one of the lesser people at this great club & half of this might be BS but like in any job people talk about what's going on. & what changers ect so just passing on what had been said.
Anfield dogsbody

Why would the manager tell someone there not wanted only to make there heads drop and play crap

I can't believe that BR would tell 3 players 'I don't need you and I don't want you' a few days out from the window closing. If we can't shift them then I'm sure their morale would be good...

Thommo the Red

When I was young I really loved Jackanory

BR said two days ago that he likes Adam and doesn't want to sell him. He said even tried to buy him when he was Reading boss. He hasn't mentioned the other midfielders, but I could see Spearing going, probably a loan though.

Why is there so many unstable fantasists on these football sites, do they really think we believe BR tells someone all these things? dude check into rehab.

I think Liverpool need a new signing because the game against west brom was embarrassing if we can get kaka on a season long loan that would be perfect because he's a big name as well as a talented footballer which is what we need !

"Why is there so many unstable fantasists on these football sites"

Because ... it's school holidays, little kids with no brains making very dumb unrealistic comments.

You had me until you starting talking about Kaka....oh well.. another spouter! :)

Cheers eds,
TommyB

23 Aug 2012 23:49:06
hey eds the BBC say that the sahin loan deal will have a 14 mill option to buy but isn't that why he wont go to arsenal because he didn't want a permanent move and its by Ben smith whose reliable apparently im confused please post and reply thanks,

RED BIRD {Ed001's Note - that is not any part of the reason why he is not going to Arsenal, if he decides not to go there. He is choosing where he thinks will be best for him, nothing to do with who is wanting a permanent deal or not.}

Really good post ED001, last saturday i was crazy mad (upset) at Rodgers set-up. I didn't feel much better tonight against Hearts and the general mood around our club. I openly said earlier today i'd rather not have Nuri if we're his second choice, however, if Buck can tempt a player like Nurin ot of an arsenal move then he is really respected, that cant be bad

BBC said it was because we would pay a larger percentage of his wages then arsenal {Ed001's Note - the BBC might well say that, but the simple fact is that I don't believe them.}

He chose Liverpool for 2 reasons

1.]Jose Mourinho influenced the move
2.]He is a good TIXI=TAKA player using which Dortmund won Bundesliga mate

Aneesh

WOW...the notion that Ben Smith is reliable cracks me up! haha

I'm a little confused ED, is it just a loan or is there an option to buy as well? This whole thing has been a roller coaster of speculation. {Ed002's Note - The deal previously agreed with Arsenal did not include any option to buy - and it has been made clear by Mourinho that he did not care where he goes.}

Ed 0001 Arsenal only want him if they get the option to buy him at the end of the season. He would prefer to play champions league football. We will sign him later today.

Aldos tash

My guess is he was told at arsenal their would be a lot of comp for starting places and at liverpool he was told he wud be a first team starter as long as his form is what it should be hope we get this sorted.tommy Irish Red
