If you're the same Ed that has said Gervinho was a target, for the past few months then you were spot on mate. Commolli has confirmed it tonight along with Hazard.

Blair Mayne YNWA

{Editor's Note: Of course it is me Blair - how could you ever think it was anyone else. I think that Liverpool would have moved for him in this window if he had been available. I figured Lille would be willing to trade the player and bring someone in now rather than lose both Gervinho and Hazard in the summer, and need a major rebuilding job. Now it looks like he will be the summer target.}

Just didn't want you getting the abuse your fellow Ed's have been getting in the past few days.

Blair Mayne YNWA

PS. Don't worry mate i'll look after you.

Hi Ed,

great site!

The only gripe I have is the amount of repeat rumours you actually put on here.
So far I must have read about 6 or 7 times now that Ryan Babel Is going to hoffenheim! Why can't you put it up once? Surely in your capacity as an Ed you can leave the rest out! It makes things a pain when I get home at the end of the day and try Reading through everything, also surely it would make your life easier.

Anyway what I want to ask is where did the KK loves Arda Turan rumour come from? Has anyone actually heard him say this or was it all press talk?
I think that if he did really like him we would have had him by now. DC has publicly come out and said we like Suarez and Ashley Young, my guess is if we go for Young we won't be going for Turan.
It would't make sense DC saying we like these players if we didn't go after them! LFC are not in the habbit of unsettling players that we have no intention of persuing. {ed's note - the Turan rumours came about because he recommended him to Rafa while Rafa was in charge. I know what you mean about the repeat rumours, a lot of them come about because of more than one editor being around.}

To all the ed's, why are u all so sure we are not getting Suarez? But you were all so sure about Honda which has turned out to be wrong. I'm not having a go but you must have heard sumthin regarding Suarez/ Honda to be so sure. The answer I'm expecting is, sorry different ed or I never said that about Honda but clearly 2-3 weeks ago u was all 100% on him signin {ed's note - no, I said I wanted him to sign, he is the player I want us to sign, not the player I thought we would sign.}

One striker come winger out, one striker in the Suarez deal is very much the one that Ken and Damien want to pull off. To prove to the supporters they are listening. One of NESV's claims was they would listen to the fans. Now obviously we as fans are not qualified as managers or scouts but every one and there mother know's that Suarez is a lethal finisher any where from about 35yrds near the goal.
So let's all hope its done in time for Chelski and he can take a chunk out of that diving prick Drogba

100% true - Shaun Wright -Phillips has been seen in Merseyside over the weekend, firstly on a night out in Southport and then viewing a house in Formby. Now, he might just be moving house and checking out the area whilst remaining at city. Or, he is joining a Merseyside club and I doubt it is Everton!

24 Jan 2011 21:49:55
Just reading between the lines a bit here, but lets say E15m+ Babel was offered-this was rejected, then all of a sudden Babel is going again even though kk says he was staying-and perhaps the cash from this sale is what will be the clincher! !or perhaps its a way of getting some other club to accept an offer?

()()

24 Jan 2011 21:49:06
Babel going for 6 million, Adam coming in for 6 million, its buy to sell, until the summer. . and for gods sake people give it a rest with the suarez s* *e! He is NOT coming.

()()

24 Jan 2011 21:47:56
If we are about to sell Babel for 7 million I think that will see us tie up Adam within a day or two. Especially now that Charlie has handed in a transfer request (do we know if that is true?). If we add about 2 million from the Babel sale to what we have already offered for Adam then we will surely get him.

That still then leaves some funds to possibly increase our bid for N'Zogbia. Again I know that might just be paper talk, but it seems to have legs to me. And how could Kenny and Comoli not move for a winger when it is so obvious that we need one.

Finally I agree with ed that a lot of our other funds that have been made available are tied up in some other endeavour. It must be a striker. Maybe Honda but I would not be suprised if we get Aguero. Athleti is not in good shape financially like most clubs in Spain, he had a new, lower buy-out clause put in his contract, he was in Liverpool recently, and Athleti are making a move for Honda who plays in the same position as Aguero. Where would they get the funds to buy him if they were not selling someone, and they would make a net profit on selling Aguero for 30million and bringing in Honda for 15.

Call me a dreamer but I think we could look like this by next week:
Gk: Reina
Rb: Kelly
CB: Carragher / Skrtel
CB: Agger / Wilson
LB: Aurelio / Johnson
CDM: Adam / Lucas / Poulson
RM: Johnson / Maxi
CAM: Gerrard / Meireles / Shelvey
LM: N'Zogbia / Jovanovic
St: Aguero / Kuyt
St: Torres / Ngog

Let me know if you doubt my logic on the Aguero thing? My brain might just be running away with things.

Shows how many sheep there is on this site. All the Babel comment's because SSN quoted Kenny saying he was staying! Back to the Liverpool way when no one is in the know. Everything must be conducted behind closed doors in business to get things done smoothly. The media guess and tangle themselves up, they haven't got a clue! Happy the way the club is being ran again. Reports- Luis Suarez is considering what to do next and may hand in a transfer request to force the sale through!

Adam did that today and the club refused it simple. the player belongs to that club.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Yea Adam did hand in a transfer request today mate, but Holloway said to come back with a better offer. Just like Ajax have done with Suarez.

If it's true that we only offered 12.7 mill for Suarez? Then it is us who is holding Ajax to ransom and disrespecting them. And i don't blame Ajax for wanting more money, because i think he's worth more than that never mind Ajax.

WTF is going on with Babel? It makes KK look a bit silly when there is a U turn so soon after he said Babel wasnt going.
This is probably LFC being surprised by Ajax or Blackpool paying hardball on the player price, so Babel's been pushed harder to move- maybe LFC told him he won't be getting another game?
Result is more cash to throw at Suarez or Adam.

Luis Suarez signing will be confirmed on Tuesday 25th January. He will wear the vacant number 11 shirt. This signing will shortly be followed by the arrival of Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam, he will wear the number 20 shirt that was previously worn by Mascherano. Ryan Babel will be sold to Hoffenheim on 25/ 1/ 2011. The final transfer activity will be a move for Galatasary captiain Arda Turan towards the end of the January transfer window, if the bid fails a last ditch attemp will be made for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young. Says my source! An he's pretty reliable!

NESV recognise that this year is about transition. They know from the position we are in we will not get into the Champions League. So they are not going to pay transfer fees that are at the high end of the January valuations - so they will wait to the last couple of days to complete or pick up in the summer when costs will be lower. Therefore, the suarez, Adam and Honda deals will not conclude if the selling clubs are able and willing to resist the pressure. For each there are different reasons why that is difficult for them:

suarez - Ajax debt

Adam - transfer request unhappy player and may not get the offer again

Honda - coming to end of contract

Dutch club Ajax have told Liverpool to come up with a "respectful" offer for their Uruguay striker Luis Suarez.

Liverpool have made a £12.7m bid for the 23-year-old and the Reds' director of football strategy Damien Comolli travelled to Amsterdam on Monday.

"We'll have to wait for them to come back with something more respectful, " an Ajax spokesman told BBC Sport.

"We want to keep him - at least until the end of the season and preferably for the rest of his contract."

It's 8pm and I've just finished trawling through the national newspapers of Holland. Only two (De Telegraaf & Parool.nl) are running stories that mention Suarez and Liverpool. .
De Telegraaf State that a meeting took lace between Ajax officials & Damien Comolli with Pere Guardiola present, The Liverpool delegation has now left and it states. . Mr. Henry now has to decide whether he will meet the 30 million EURO price tag.

Parool.nl states the same people in a meeting, but says that the Liverpool party have left, and have the rest of the week, that is until the transfer deadline to up their offer of £18 million.
Now using an online currency converter that would mean we need to up our offer by just under 4.5 Million Euro's (£3.8 million) Now I know that NESV are business men, but I sure hope that they are not playing hard ball just for that amount, because if he is a smoke screen then it better be another world class signing. NOT CARLTON COLE!

"Please let this be a cleverly sarcastic post? "I'm led to believe. . " after all things mentioned have been online and on SSN minutes beforehand? If it's a joke, well played my friend!"

Firstly SSN is on 24 hours a day. That said, I have not seen it since this morning as I am currently not in a situation to watch satellite until later tonight but rarely watch SSN anyway as it is 90% BLX. As for things being on-line, depending on which site you read depends on what view you get. And you will even get wildly different and contradictory stories on the same site such as this one for example. I have however checked on various websites since your retort (some highly respected ones reported Comolli as being back in the UK by lunchtime which is not true - he is still in Holland) and although the majority now report the Suarez saga as still in negotiation, the quoted amount Liverpool have offered varies from £13M to £21.5M depending on which site you trust. As for Adam, I cannot find a single site that reports what I did - that a second unsuccesful bid had been made of £6.5M. But it has. Whether you wish to believe it or not is up to you.

Despite the Editor's persistant that Suarez wasn't a target you are sadly mistaken.

We have made two offers for him that were rejected (£12.5m and £15m) and they are way of what Ajax want. Ajax quoted originally £30m but lowered it to £25m.

Comolli travelled there yesterday for talks with Ajax but it didn't come about, they still wanted £25m we were just under £20m so he returned after a 2 hour meeting.

IF we sign a striker it will be on deadline day. Expect us to go back for Suarez as well as other targets on deadline day but it now looks unlikely as Ajax want a sale before this friday.

Latest rumour:
Because Kenny wants to lower the number of people in the squad of 25, Jay spearing will be offered to Blackpool on loan in part of a 5.5 million pound deal. Payet of St. Ettiene is also being looked at with a view to a 7.5 million bid, however this will Only happen if babel gets his "dream" return to Ajax. Finally the Luis Suarez deal is currently being negotiatied, liverpool will currently bid no more than 18 million but Ajax are holding out for 24 million. It is thought that the teams will meet half way with Liverpool paying an extra 3 million based on appearances and goals.
Please post as this is the truth.

According to one of the eds ajax are 30m euros in debt that's equivalant to 25m hence why they want that for suarez to pay off there debt.DORSET RED p.s i still agree with the main ed that we were never after him in 1st place

yeah cos we make bids on players we don't want hmmm logic at its worst, , , , we want him, just nesv r too cheap and won't pay the right amount of money to get him lying yanks

{Editor Note: What proof is there of a bid then apart from the lying journalists? The same ones who claimed Henry met his agent in London, only to brick it when someone informed them Henry was in Liverpool that night? And what have NESV lied about? Dear dear, posts are getting worse here.}

who says all journalists lie, not everyone lies u know, and nesv lied cos they said they will turn this club around but this transfer window they have good players available yet they won't spend the money to get them were nearing the end of the month and we have nothing. ok they said they won't be buying alot this month but atleast buy one good player one player who can help, and u might say they will buy players, but if its not suarez, honda, benzema or even adam and give blackpool poulsen, someone of their calibre, then whos it gunna be, some one like negredo, hourau, swp, c.cole, traore, crap players like them. then it will be a waste of money

{Editor Note: NESV did say they would turn this around, but you missed that part where they said there was no quick fix and they wouldn't just throw money at it, on top of us having to comply with the FFP rules. So no, NESV didn't lie once. Nonsense.}

yes they did, they said they will turn things round, and buying a couple of good players this month would help towards turning things around, and ffp doesn't come into affect officially yet, not till 2012 or 2013 i know its one of them, at the moment its in the position of trying to pursuade ppl it can work but ffp won't work at all, right now nesv can pay for suarez they just won't cos there too cheap and lied

{Editor's Note: To re-ierate. The money to be made available by NESV will largely come in the first instance from money generated by the club, which needs to be self-sufficient as we all know. What I imagine Tom Werner was referring to was that monies generated by the club (such as through the sale of a player) could be used for transfers (obviously if agreed on a case-by-case basis as I have already explained). I think if you are expecting NESV to throw enormous sums of their own money in to transfers, you will have a bit of a long wait until that happens. I do however have no doubts that they will provided financing themselves as necessary - but will not want to pay over the odds. I am however afraid you are mistaken if you are thinking that Tom Werner was not being truthful.}

Why don't you understand why we'd buy him? Ed?

{Editor's Note: I see no use for him as a starter unless Shelvey is going out on loan. An average squad player only.}

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

I think it is clear that he is to replace both Poulson and Spearing as he offers more than both of them combined and possibly Lucas in the long run.
Shelvey is the real deal and I don't think will go out on loan but will get more game time

I must admit it is starting to get a bit late in the month, i have always thought that there will be a new face at the club and i still do. but they are cutting it very fine.
now looking at that names mentioned all good players but people have got to remember ajax see suarez the same way liverpool see torres, meaning last transfer window when torres was being linked away we all wanted £50-£60m for him wich in the real world is far to much. i have never thought suarez was going to sign because it was always far to public, however i do hope i am wrong.
i also think either honda or turan will sign for us and who ever we don't get will go to atletico madrid.
the charlie adam thing seems abit odd to me do we really need another cm especially the way meireles has been playing lately, i do think he is a good player but that's the problem, a good player nothing more really.

ed who would you rather have honda or turan

Just found this in Amsterdam press, not my rumour I just spotted it:

Suarez move to Liverpool in doubt

Monday 24 January 2011

The transfer of Ajax captain Luis Suarez to Liverpool appeared to be in doubt on Monday after the Liverpool delegation returned to England empty-handed, the Parool reports on Monday

Ajax wants €35m for the Uruguayan, which Liverpool is not prepared to pay, the paper says

Ajax director Rik van den Boog and Damien Comolli of Liverpool held a meeting at Schiphol airport early on Monday but failed to resolve the differences. The two have no further plans to talk, the paper said.

The transfer period runs until January 31.

If the suarez deal does fall through, ed what do you think of Lisandro López of lyon or bojan krkic of barca?? both i think would make a great addition to our current squad

I'm afraid to say that, with every day that passes, I'm becoming less and less sure that we'll sign any quality players. Liverpool's squad is good now, playing the KK style of football, but to really challenge for anything this season, and in the future, we need to add some real strength and depth. Despite this season, I can't see any reason why Liverpool isn't an attractive opportunity for any top player.
For me we need:

Another quality play maker, to take some of the burden off Gerrard, for me Joe Cole just hasn't cut it. its good to see the improvement in Meireles, but i still think we need someone else, like Adam or Yoann Gourcuff but but I doubt he'll leave Lyon. There's still time for the likes of Shelvey and Spearing.

A big physical striker, for example Llorente, to really balance out our attack, Torres is world class, but he needs a big physical player to share the burden. I think they would work incredibly well together.

and a left back, maybe Lahm, whilst not only strengthening the defence we would add pace and an attacking option in going forward, however he is maybe coming to the end of his career. I think a few other options are Coentroa, or Drenthe or Cissokho, all of these three are young, I have seen Drenthe play enough times to know that he is a brilliant prospect, and he is still young!

what do you think Ed? Great site!

{Editor's Note: Drenthe would be a good option but he is out on loan. Coentroa will have other options available to him (Real Madrid, Manchester United). Cissokho could probably be tempted.}

Ed? Does the fact that Babel is staying put mean we are not buying a striker in this window! {ed's note - hard to say mate, I would think it has an impact on our plans as it was suggested to Adam that the sale of Babel would enable him to be bought.} Does this mean then Ed that the owners have lied to us and there is in fact no money and we are to sell before we can buy?!

{Editor's Note: Babel decided to not move to Hoffenheim and I don't know of any other offers for him. I am not sure what lie you are referring to from the owners, but I have explained how the process works in response to another post. But the bottom line of most clubs is that you expect transfers to be funded by the club, not by wealthy owners.}

SO NO TRANSFER KITTY THEN ED?

{Editor's Note: I have said this on numerous occasions, but once more - there is and never has been a kitty or budget for transfers. The manager, coaches, scouts and Comolli will decide what players they wish to go after and put a case for those players to members of the board. The case put forward will explain the benefits that the player could bring to the club and will no doubt deal with financial matters such as resale value after 2, 3, 4 years or whatever. Based on those discussions, the decision will be taken as to whether or not to proceed with an approach to the player's club and a probable upper limit set for negotiations.}

This is not a rumour but my opinion. Galatasaray have bought three players in a matter of days, namely forward Bogdan Stancu (23 years) and keeper Robinson Zapata (31 years) both from Steaua Bucharest and also midfielder Yerta Kurtulus (25years) from Kasımpaşaspor. In my opion at least one if not two of these transfers pave the way for Arda Turan to be transferred to Liverpool. We all know how much King Kenny admires this player and rumours have died down on him lately which I believe means that business behind close doors is being done the Liverpool way. What do you think of this Ed? Also I apologise if my English is not of a very high standard as I live in Malta. {ed's note - I did expect a move for Turan, no idea if it will happen or not, but it is to be expected. Especially if Gala are bringing in replacements.}

If any of Liverpool's transfer targets know of Liverpool's offers and solid intrest in thier services they should put in transfer requests because it is obvious clubs will try and hold Liverpool to ransom and over price thier players when know the reds want a player. It seems that offers will always be below most clubs valuation for players.
It is up to the players to show some desire to move when that situation arises.

{Editor's Note: That is not how the process works - and the players would lose out financially.}

Players could always make provisions for this in thier personal terms. And if they really want to move to a club given todays massive wages the finances should not be a factor in thier playing career. its not as if prem players are on £300 a week?

{Editor's Note: It will never work - you will end up with a lot of players at clubs who have declared they do not want to be there.}

Translated from het parool

A delegation from Liverpool who was with Ajax in Amsterdam on a transfer of Luis Suarez to negotiate, this morning returned to England empty-handed.

The delegates from both clubs, including Ajax's general director Rik van den Boog and Damien Comolli, technical director of Liverpool, spoke each morning at Schiphol. There is an unbridgeable gap between the provisional amount of his Ajax striker wants to receive - the club has reportedly deployed at 35 million euros - and that Liverpool will pay.

The difference is so great that there are no agreements on further negotiations. Between Ajax and Liverpool last week was the only telephone contact. The parties were today for the first time. The camp-Suarez was nobody there. In order to get a transfer, the clubs must first reach agreement.

Suarez, who today celebrates his 24th birthday, until mid 2013 is still under contract with Ajax. If Liverpool do his sights set on the future of the Uruguayan, the club has a week to Ajax with a higher offer to get back to the negotiating table. The transfer deadline closes on January 31.

Was the meeting today? because it seems very early in the day for a newspaper to have reported and printed this very detailed information on negotiations between the 2 clubs on a transfer this big. {ed's note - they were reporting it within about 10minutes of Comolli's plane landing.}

Funny how quick some supposed news outlets were to make out that Suarez' signing was a formality as in many cases the very same sites are jumping to conclusions at the other end of the spectrum based on third-hand hearsay. This whole saga has been a damning indictment of journalistic standards - no official corroboration, no secondary sources and everyone vying for an exclusive regardless of whether it's based on solid info or not.

Ed, maybe you can help with this one but I'm pretty certain that throughout all the endless transfer window speculation last summer, when LFC were being connected with half the players on the planet (either in the media or on rumour sites such as this one) there was never one single suggestion that our great club was after Raul Meireles. Yet who was our biggest signing? Raul Meireles (true, Cole came in the midst of a media circus but where is he now?).

The point is that the club has proven capable of negotiating for and signing a quality "name" player for a sizeable fee - all without a single leak or rumour emerging before the job is done.

Based on KK's comments in response to nosey journos, the club has its targets and will do business if it's possible to be done.

Charlie Adams was (I believe) an acknowledged target and remains realistic, provided the club is willing to increase the initial offer. Commoli did admit to some interest in Saurez and (I think) Hazard but also said such signings would be dependent on various factors which were not in place currently. Besides, I don't know how reliable Commoli is or what are his tactics when talking to the media. He could have been blowing smoke up their a* e.

It has been stated several times on this site (I think one or more of the eds have backed this up) that KK loves Turan and recommended him to both Rafa and Roy. If that is the case and the time is right I would not be in the least surprised if we announced his signing this week. Of course, it may that KK does not think he is the right player for us now or maybe Galatasaray don't want to sell.

But one thing is certain - just because there are currently no rumours circulating about this in the Turkish media or elsewhere means absolutely NOTHING. We could have singed the player already and it's perfectly possible that not a single journo knows a thing about it.

If there's one single thing to be learned from reading the press, watching the news, following twitter and hanging around sites like this it's that NOBODY outside the club has much of a clue what's going on.

But I do know that if KK really wants Turan and the player is available we will get him (regardless of whatever the press say or don't say).

Oh, and before I forget - Suarez, Aguero, Young, Honda, N'Zogbia and Nicky Butt all to sign for LFC on Jan 31st. You heard it here last ;) {ed's note - you are correct, there was absolutely no mention of Meireles, even though we had scouted him for months beforehand.}

Hmmm. . to the non believers. .

The Amsterdam newspaper "Het Parool" has just announced that representatives of Liverpool FC arrived at Schiphol today for discussions with Ajax regarding the possible transfer of Luis Suárez. They left without any agreement having been made.

So they arrived at schipol, had discussions and then managed to print it in the newspaper and you then put in here. . all before lunch time

thats amazing, because most papers don't print the news until the next day. . .jog on manc

{Editor's Note: The original post is correct. The story appears in the online version of the newspaper and confirms, as previously stated, that Ajax want 35M euro and Liverpool have offered 15M euro.}

"The Madness of King Roy XVIII"

I believe there will not be a signing of any great excitement this transfer window. Despite the excitment and hope we whave generated on here in the past few weeks about signings, with just seven days to go, there has not even been any sightings at Melwood of anyone connected with the players. Yes - I appreciate that isn't how most deals are done and we don't want to get into a "mate of a mate of a mate" scenario, but where is the movement of any kind?

It is unusual even by LFC standards, for this amount of hope not to be rewarded at this stage. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks destined for Arsenal and there has not been a rebuttal of that from anyone in the media - even though we were mentioned in this proposed move.

Eden Hazard also looks set for the Emirates; Wenger has the grace to say that as Lille are top of Ligue 1, it would not be right to move for him now. Yet Comoli was interested in the player and yet not one of the Sunday newspapers suggested we would still be in the hunt for him. All this is a little perturbing, even if it may be based on our frustrations. It just gives the impression that we are not moving in any fruitful direction. I know it's about keeping quiet and doing deals behind the scenes, but consider the next two players.

Honda has suggested (through his agents) that he is happy at CSKA Moscow and not looking to move at the moment. Worrying for a player that likes LFC and knows we are hunting him down. Turan - another LFC lover, but we seem to have gone cold on him. I base this on the leaky Turkish media who seem also to have gone quiet on this.

Other posters may say that we are playing our cards close to our chest, or that we are working behind the scene. I dare say we are on both counts. What concerns me is that we seem to have fallen away from the main arena when it comes to attracting players. Our closest target appears to be Charlie Adams (a potentially explosive player and a great asset if we can grab him), but Holloway's ludicrous valuation is the closest we have to him being linked with us.

Suarez has not issued a 'come and get me' pleas that usually triggers a move; Honda has been quiet and then denies interest in moving; Hazard has not denied an interest in Arsenal and Oxlade-Chamberlain has never said he was flattered by an approach from us. These are all things that players have said about LFC in the past few years. They have moved on and we are falling into the middle ranking teams when it comes to transfers.

I could answer my own pessimism and say it will all turn out good in the end and that we will get players 'cos we ain't shouted off in the papers!' With just under a week to go I doubt that. Maybe Charlie Adams at an inflated £6.25 million will be our only purchase and the deflation will be in the minds of LFC supporters this transfer window.

Hi ed.

Means babel is staying does this mean no Suarez? Or do you think we'll pay up?
(Below) - No Suarez (Unbel) - Pay Up

Just taken this from ajax fan wb site
Ajax in the Netherlands today met a delegation from Liverpool to hear how far the British would go for Luis Suarez. Eight days ago the leadership of Ajax (Rik van den Boog) during the trip to Turkey by the English club informed of the interest of the Uruguay international. Then came the game completely on the wagon.

The agent of Suarez, Pere Guardiola, acted in the past week as the main mediator between all parties. Suarez knows by the brother of the Barcelona coach, what opportunities are there for him at Anfield. Both financially and sporty, the picture sketched for him.

On that basis, the confidence in a future player in the Premier League, where he will earn twice as much. But he is entirely dependent on the negotiations between Liverpool and Liverpool Ajax.Namens lead technical director Damien Comolli all transfer negotiations.

Along with Liverpool coach Kenny Dalglish, he's technical policy. The American owner George W. Henry will now have to decide whether Liverpool more than eighteen million euro release Suarez

I know im gonna get slagged off. But there maybe some truth in the Kun rumours.
1: he was over at christmas visiting maxi
2: the owners just said they are looking to increase the wage bill
3: the owners did say they will be going after the best players
4: he fits all the criteria that henry and co. are looking 5: he wants to play for us

We would only have to increase torres and gerrards wages to match Kuns.

What you think? let me guess not a chance.

Listen lets all use a little sense!
kk plays 4-2-3-1 for the most part
we have a top striker up front
Kyut is fine in the advanced right role , betwen Steve Raul and jonjo we have three excellent center forward mids and they all wouldn't be to bad as the holding mids.
our biggist problem is Maxi on the left the left back spot and we need a good defensive center.
Honda would give us extra strength and depth in the mid as would Adam , mvilla could cover the defensive half .
Turan or young would solve attacking left .
as for the defense who knows . we have a whole host of young talent waiting to come through . sho what i am saying is
1. why do we need the boy from AJAX.
2. if worked correctly our current isn't to bad at all
3 . we have been told by the club they want support for Nando so only expect either an advanced left player or and attacking center mid .
4 lay off the ED, s they know as much as we do so there opinion is as valid as yours and mine .

and allays remember when you walk through a storm hold your head up high

=======================================
I think Suarez begging for a move to the premier league improves our chances of getting him! He knows Liverpool are in 4 him and knows ajax are trying to price him out of a move. Liverpool are unprepared to pay over the odds so comin out with this forces ajax's hand as they need money!

honda can play cf am and in the wing will suraez can play up front and in the wings . this allows us options 2 offload cole , ngog , kuyt , poulsen , maxi , babel any 2 players 2 fund 4 another signing . shawcross may be option 4 our defense crises

I know his agent has come out and said something in regards to Atletico, but surely this is just a play on his part to drum up more interest in his client?

According to mirrorfooball.co.uk Charlie Adam was on the verge of not playing the match against Sunderland to force a move through to KK's Liverpool. Holloway talked C. Adam into playing the match and after the match came out with the scathing comment about the price. Looks like Adam might omit himself from the Blackpool squad against Man United to force a deal between the two clubs this transfer window.

It is believed that Liverpool is preparing an improved bid of 5 million pounds which will be grudgingly accepted by Ian Holloway's Blackpool.

Also a reported interview with Commolli last night:

"Liverpool's director of football Damien Commolli last night vowed to step up the club's bid to land Luis Suarez.

The Reds are closing in on a £19million deal to land the 23-year-old striker who has scored 81 goals in 108 league appearances for Ajax, including 35 in 33 last season.

Commolli's comments on Suarez came as Ajax last night warned they will keep Suarez until the summer
The Dutch club are rivalling PSV for unhappy Stoke striker Eidur Gudjohnsen to replace Suarez."

If this is to be believed, it seems unlikely that this is a smokescreen for Aguero or any other high profile forward. This looks promising but I'm not sure of the quality of the publisher of the article so read into it what you will.

I think first of all if you look at the suarez situation he is definitely interested but the club want to hold on until possibly ajax give up and accept our bid and this in my opinion will not happen as they will have very little time to replace so the club will definitely accept our bid and to the editors why are you so us signing suarez and if you claim to have sources prove to us and give names of players we will sign we don't like the negativity towards suarez who is world class and may become better than torres in future

All this talk of turan and honda going to a.t madrid , what next is torres going to return to them? wouldn't blame the lad, could get higher wages(" as ed, s keep telling us beter pay in spain") and in my opinion unless we get our finger out would have a beter team than us.

Yes its frustrating, but I'd rather it be secret who we want than they world and his dog to know. A return to the more diginfied way of things may leave us slighty more frustrated but ever so much more respected.

i Believe we'll sign one or two player, but just have faith, I know we've been burned before but lets give the owners the chance to prove what they've said - under-promise and over deliver.

LIVERPOOL will dispatch Damien Comolli to Amsterdam today for make-or-break talks with Ajax as they seek to land Uruguay striker Luis Suarez.
The move underlines Liverpool's determination to capture Suarez for what could be a fee in excess of £20million.
They are also facing a major battle to land midfielder Charlie Adam from Blackpool.

Comolli, director of football strategy, will be looking to bring down the asking price of £25m for Suarez – who is 24 today – when he meets with Ajax general director Rick van den Boog.
Liverpool will try to use Ryan Babel as a makeweight in the deal and Comolli knows he will have to make significant progress today during the talks or risk the interest falling apart.Ajax coach Frank de Boer wants it resolved sooner rather than later and said: “We won't let Luis go on January 31 at 23.55. It is logical and a deal that I have made with Rick van den Boog.
“To replace Suarez will be difficult, but we are ready to have a Plan B. We know what we want if he leaves.”
Heerenveen forward Bas Dost is on Ajax's wanted list, with Stoke's Eidur Gudjohnsen also a target to replace Suarez, who is keen to move to the Premier League and emulate Carlos Tevez.
“I used to think English football was not my style, but now I think it's a kind of football that suits me"

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish could be ready to bid for Paris St Germain striker Guillaume Hoarau who would cost the Anfield club around £6m.

Suarez will NOT be signing. Liverpool do not want to go past 18M. Expect another stellar striker instead.

Adams signing, I served my YTS at Blackpool and still know a few players there,

He's all agreed, there's just a little haggling to do on the price and Holloway wants to sell to Liverpool because of his respect and admiration for the king.

He will be a Liverpool player, believe me or not but he will be spraying balls round anfield soon enough !

Hi ed, was on hols in spain saw Liverpool reps near atletico Madrid stadium last week. Do you know if where interested in any of there players maybe forlan or aguero? Would love to see aguero at anfield would be the most lethal partnership in the premiership! {ed's note - I don't know of any move for any of their players in the offing, it is always possible but it could even be making arrangements for a friendly in the summer or anything.}

Ed, do you think we will make any big signings during this window? if so who do you think they could be? {ed's note - depends on what you call big! There is certainly a shortage of funds available for Adam because they are being put aside for something else. Babel's sale is needed to create the funds for that move. But who or what the money is being earmarked for, other than Adam, I really do not have any idea. I don't even know how much it is or if any move has been made, that is literally all the information I have. For all I know it could be towards the stadium plans, but I don't think they are at all. I don't want to get my hopes up though, had them dashed too many times in the past when money was set aside and it turned out to be for debt repayments! Though I don't expect that to be the problem with NESV, there is always the very distinct possibility that a move may fall through or not materialise for another reason.}

Ed I have some exciting * * news * *

Firstly, what a fantastic performance for the team and our fans today. King Kenny is truly working his magic and inspiring us all again - sent a shiver through my spine.

Now for the rumour - A meeting has been scheduled for after the Fulham game to finalise a move for no other than Neymar!

Apparently all that is left to do is the personal terms prior to the medical.

As per usual, this has been kept super schtum the Liverpool way. YNWA!

The owners are really keen to be bringing in young talent and Neymar certainly fits the bill - In more than one way $$ ;)

Fee rising to £18 mill

Bulldog Bill - We're gonna bounce in a minute

Thoughts Ed?

{Editor's Note: Sadly I think it is just a little doubtful.}

Ed isn't this the same Neymar that Chelsea made a 22 mill bid for in the summer, and were told was not enough?

If so then i can't see us getting him for 18 mill.

Trust me I cannot say who I am as lfc have told all staff and players to keep all business behind closed doors. But we are trying to sign aguero, suarez is just a smokescreen! Deal not done yet but looks very promising as nando and maxi have persuaded Sergio. Just trying agree the fee, we are trying to take advantage of the new lower release fee in his contract, think it is about 38 million euros.

Ed please post, this is my first and only time, trust kenny and Henry, a well known super agent is involved in the negotiation.
