Having just sat down and worked out the economics of the Aqualani deal. with the deal said to be 1m for the loan , half the 3.6m wages for one year and 11m at end of season i think id be near correct in saying half of 3.6m (wages) is 1.8m minus the 1m loan fee...... this means liverpoll will pay only 800,000 in wages rather than the whole 3.6m we, d have had to pay if he were on the bench every week. Thus reducing liverpools wage bill by a staggering 2.8m in one foul swoop. Great to see things are improving in the boardroom as well as on the pitch(hull aside) :(

Have heard we have run the rule over some young Russian called Georgi Schennikov and are considering making a bid. I haven't really heard of him and thought he was a left midfielder so i am very skeptical but source was adamant that we have watched him a couple of times.

SMc

p.s. given Suarez's performances for Uruguay (and for us last season) how much do you think he is worth in the current market? If the likes of Sanchez and Pastore are worth around 40million (Pastore did nothing in the copa america - albeit he was not in the first XI - and Sanchez played well but was greedy as sin everytime i watched him) how much do you think Suarez is currently worth? 45million?

Hi ed newcastle site sayin Enrique has walked out on there pre season any truth was on his twitter {Ed009's Note - I am not sure that he has walked out of training but we do know he has made derogatory remarks about Newcastle as a team and almost certainly won't remain with them after this window. Ideally the player wants to join Arsenal but a bid doesn't seem forthcoming, so i suppose there is a chance of a move to Liverpool.}

24 Jul 2011 22:58:27
LIVERPOOL HAVE STATED THAT ALL TALK ABOUT SG 'S FITNESS IS ALL TOSH SO I PRESUME THAT SILLY LITTLE RUMOUR IS PUT TO BED. WHAT DO YOU SAY EDS? {Ed002's Note - I already no more about Gerrard's groin than I feel comfortable with. I hope for the kid himself that he is OK.}

24 Jul 2011 22:22:32
hi eds also it seems that jose enrique is getting frustrated at newcastle not spending enough money on new players.do you still think he is the most likely lb to possibly come {Ed002's Note - He seems to have been awaiting an offer from Arsenal. There remains a chance that Liverpool may make another offer for him.}

Am I the only one that's worried if all we bring in between now and the start of the season is a centreback or a leftback?

I think we over achieved towards the end of last season largely down to Suarez being on fire. I think it's unrealistic to expect him to perform miracles in every game.

We need at least one more flair player hopefully someone with pace who can play out wide for a realistic shot at 4th spot.

Hopefully shifting some of the dead-wood will enable us to get such a player.

No idea who that might be though - Adam Johnson, Mata, Nzogbia, Cazorla etc etc

Anyway Ed, am I being too pessimistic??

Raoul {Ed009's Note - Personally I feel that we are a few players short of a title challenge, but if we shore up the defence we should definitely achieve top four. Unfortunately I don't think any of those players are particularly likely right about now.}

do you think liverpool would be willing to pay 18 million for alvaro pierra from porto.thanks {Ed009's Note - I am not sure they are in a position to. I suppose a chance if the players deemed surplus to requirements are shifted.}

ed i know that everyone is saying the reason why we are playing valencia and galatasaray is becuase mata and turan is going to play 1st half for them and 2nd for us bt i had the thought that after both matches kenny will asses which player played better against an english team to see which 1 can handle english football best becuase he cant decide i know its a long shot but do you think its a possibility? {Ed009's Note - There wouldn't seem to be interest in either player anymore, so personally I don't foresee the friendlies as being anything more than that. Theoretically though it is possible and you could argue it is logical, the biggest question mark over both players is their suitability to the Premier League.}

24 Jul 2011 21:00:15
Hi eds, great site.

Just got a few questions to ask,

Is there any intrest in adam Johnson because if city grab mata they will no longer need Johnson. Maybe 20-25 million deal.

Also Gary cahill is a great player. I'm not sure if Liverpool are interested but I think the deal could be done. Probably 15-25 million deal.

We also need a left back. We have te obvious choices of cissoko and enrique, but since city got clichy, we could make a move for kolarov. Cissoko - 20 million, Enrique 5-10 million and kolarov - 5-15 million.

Thanks,
LFC-BENIT {Ed002's Note - If Johnson comes up for sale there may be interest from Liverpool, but I would not think chances are good. Cahill has to be a possibility but price may be an issue. The total money you mention is pushing £50M and I really don't expect that much to be available.}

24 Jul 2011 20:35:22
Eds would yous not see a striker as a high if not top priority specially if we will be without luis suarez for the 1st 2/3 games if we find ourselves level at anfield or at arsenal we really have no quality strikers to come on if its not working with carroll and even still injuries and suspensions do happen im not talking of spending 10s of millions just somebody different to carroll let face it ngog is a little lightweight just wanted to get your thoughts eds

D690 {Ed009's Note - I am afraid the club do not have the money to buy a striker just for the first few games. There is a chance they do not have the money for a striker at all. There is a large possibility of a young attacker coming in, the young player Bueno is a definite option, but I can't see anything more than that. A couple of defenders is of higher priority.}

Hi, ed first of all thx for the good work your doing.. this is my first post here but been looking for this site for at least 5 months everyday and every free time i have ( all day long :] )

Ed in my opinion liverpool need a back up striker due that some time suarez or caroll will be injured.

in midfield i would really like adam jhonson form city come to liverpool. He is a very good player and i really think that he will fit in our team.

At defence i'm expecting to be a big change. we absoulutey need a left back. i would prefer cisshoko from enrique. in central defence i would really like cahill which in my opinion he is a very good player and at right none is need due we have g.jhonson and kelly .

the players that i want to see going off from liverpool are el zahar, poulsen(really a flop) , aquliani, degan, ngog , jones, kyragios. those the most important

i would really love that meireles stay at liverpool and we give another chance to joe cole. he is a good player . we didn't give him enaugh time to settle and play.

what you think ed?

M.A FROM MALTA {Ed002's Note - I suspect a back up striker will be looked at. We know that there has been interest in several, some of which have now moved on so they are out of the picture. It is beginning to look a little late to grab PArk Chu-Young now as well.}

24 Jul 2011 20:18:07
Ed reports in Spain that Liverpool are after Diego Godin. I was under the impression Chelsea were Keen on the player.I have seen a bit of him playing for A madrid and Uruguay.Does Ed have any information whether or not there is genuine interest in the player? {Ed009's Note - there certainly appears to be interest and he would be a very good fit, but it will have to wait until after the fringe players are moved on, he would be a relatively expensive buy.}

24 Jul 2011 18:58:21
is it true that we are interested in Hugo Rodallega ? Hope we arent and Wigan say he's worth 9 million pounds he's about 5-6 million but not 9, i think he would be a decent back up but not for 9 million

24 Jul 2011 18:47:24
Hi ED's Any new's on Gary Cahill discussions or is it rubbish?

Matt Wollacott {Ed002's Note - I refer to earlier answers.}

KK is keen on signing Rodallega apparently. Wigan want at least £9m though. Great player i think.

Liverpool are believed to have started negotiations or have started negotiating with Bolton Wanderers over a deal for Gary Cahill.

24 Jul 2011 18:16:44
Nabil El Zar has been asking Raheem Sterling about the set up of QPR, both are good friends outside of Melwood. He will be allowed to leave on a free transfer but will seek a pay off as he has 2 years to run on his current contract.
It remains to be seen if he is a direct replacement for Taarabt or a signing to make him stay. QPR haven't a lot of money to spend and won't see any of the Taarabt money if he was sold. QPR will fight tooth and nail to keep their best players at the club.

Not heard any dodgy rumours or made upany this is just my gut feeling, The aqua man will stay due to the uncertainty over Stevies Groin, bit of a different player to Stevie but can see him and Lucas playing well there if Stevie isn't fit.

24 Jul 2011 18:10:53
Have all the Cahill rumours just come from rubbish paper talk ed's cause' it's all of a sudden he seems a primary target and what are chances of getting him.
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I refer to earlier answers.}

Ed, have you heard anything regarding our move for Mbaye Niang from SM caen. Are we interested in him. He is 1 and seems to have loads of potential and is available for free now. Thanks alot. {Ed002's Note - It is I am told just possible Liverpool are interested - but he is very young and only one for the future.}

24 Jul 2011 17:48:45
Hiya ed i know your fed up with all the ageuro storys but can you believe that he has stated his interest in man city is because of what tevez has told him about the club when tevez has stated in the the press that if and when he leaves city he would never go back to manchester even for a holiday or do you think ageuro is just another greedy
ba*@?*rd who is there for the cash.we know hes a talent but if he was as much as a liverpool fan as he makes out then surely he would be willing to take a pay cut to play for us. {Ed009's Note - Regardless of whether he will take a pay cut or not, we haven't bid and an approach isn't forthcoming. I imagine his willingness to move to City is fuelled by three things. 1) the obscene amount of money they will pay. 2) the prospect of winning trophies. 3) the fact that nobody else is able to buy him, and staying at Atletico couldn't be less of an option.}

24 Jul 2011 17:26:28
Cahill to Liverpool for Ngog and cash believed to be in the region of 15m. Makes sense and I would be very very happy with that piece of business.

I just read on a dutch site that we have enquired about Jesus Navas..

Don't think it will happen..

Any thoughts on this Ed's? {Ed002's Note - I refer you to earlier discussion.}

24 Jul 2011 16:25:52
Any news on Cahill eds? We are in desperate need of a quality center half.

Nnam {Ed002's Note - Nothing but the rumours right now. There has to be a chance as his replacement arrived in January (Wheater). I am guessing Bolting are pricing him at the high end of the market.}

24 Jul 2011 16:24:07
Liverpool will only look to bring in one more centre back and possibly a left back. The right midfield position is no longer an issue as jordan henderson can play there and provide great crosses. The legend that is Dirk Kuyt can also play there.

The centre back options are either Scott Dann or Gary Cahill, IMO Cahill is the much better prospect although probably will cost a lot more, unless we manage to get rid of Ngog within the same deal. Diego Godin has also impressed LFC Scouts at the copa america.

Jose Enrique is everyones favourite for the left back position, although he has recently expressed his desire to play in the champions league, which we can not offer whereas Arsenal can. This leads to the aly cissokho saga where no one really knows what the hell is going on and Leighton Baines is another option, but as expected Everton will be as awkward as possible.

liverpool have signed bulgarian young star vilian bizev 18 years old - 3year contract. He is a striker, has american passport also and had trial in liverpool.

24 Jul 2011 15:50:24
Just read on the Daily Fail site that Arsenal would go for Juan Mata AND Santi Cazorla when Fabregas leaves. If true, such signings for the Apse would make it a lot more difficult for us to get back in Top 4.

Let's hope we can move on the unwanted players quickly and press on with improving our squad further.

Hi Eds, reading a lot of rumors on here about Jesus Nevas. Haven't seen it anywhere else and was just wondering if there's a grain of truth to it or is it just one of those things that someone just made up, posted it here and everybody is just getting carried away with it? He's a great player but he seems to be higher profile than we're realistically looking at, with us not being in Europe this season.

cheers. {Ed002's Note - None.}

Liverpool are believed to have started negotiations or have started negotiating with Bolton Wanderers over a deal for Gary Cahill. Cahill is a player Kenny admires for the CB position & is British as well. The recent rumors saying Bolton might be interested in David Ngog will allow LFC to make a cash + player deal for the player who is 25 yrs old. [ 15M pounds + David N'Gog (6M) ]

Regarding Aquilani to Fiorentina, i said couple of days ago on here that a deal will go through for Aquilani & is looking likely as the eds suggested.

Me too was gutted like many of you with the 3-0 defeat to Hull City yesterday but as Kenny said it was a pre-season & it makes no sense if you now start criticizing & doubting our new signings. But it was like coming down to earth after the impressive performances in Asia. Our defense certainly needs improvement & Kenny will certainly address it. Robbo, Wilson & Kelly was not at their level but they are youngsters who will certainly improve. Agger, Johnson & Skrtel missing who are regular starter's for LFC. Players like Kyrgiakos, Insua are just not good enough for LFC.

I too believe there are players at LFC whom we call dead wood who needs to be showed the door out imminently but it is tough & an expensive job. The club are now engaged in doing this business as perfect as possible. There is still a long way to go in the transfer market & we will see many of these useless Dead Wood leaving.

Before I conclude my post i want to tell you some players at LFC for whom I call Deadwood & who needs to leave. These players are nowhere good enough for LFC. They are useless, crap, rubbish - oops i may have gone too far.

1- Jovanovic
2- Poulsen
3- Kyrgiakos
4- Brad Jones
5- El Zahr
6- Degen

Players such as Insua, Ngog, Joe Cole & Maxi
needs also to go. But i don't want calling them deadwood & certainly has a respect for them.

After seeing the Mirror's 'story' about Agger going to Bayern I'am now 100% convinced that they write their articles based on information on this site.

24 Jul 2011 14:08:38
Afternoon eds, i've know Arsenal are interested in Ry Cahill and that we are keeping an eye on the situation, but what are the chances of him joining us? In my opinion he is better than Dann and Phil Jones, cheers

Kenny2 {Ed002's Note - I would suspect there is more of a chance of Dann. However, CAhill remains an option as he is for sale and Arsenal and Chelsea have not pushed forward with early interest they had.}

24 Jul 2011 13:55:47
Hi ed great site, is there any truth in this rumour?
"Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish wants Wigan's Colombian star Hugo Rodallega but will have to pay £9million to get him"
Dalglish sees him as a good back up to suarez and carroll, he can give problems to defenders, if we go for him will probably get him cheaper than 9M he is entering his last year in his contract.
Dalglish turned to Rodallega after making an inquiry for Freiburg's Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse, he is valued at £13m and is also looking for around £4m-a-year. {Ed002's Note - I don't know that there is.}

Jovanovic - Anderlecht/Lille/Saudi Arabian
Aqualiani - Fiorentina
El Zhar - QPR interested
Degen - free to leave
Joe Cole - If a club can be found he will leave.
Insua - Turkish club

Thats about 300k a week being taken off.

24 Jul 2011 12:43:14
Ed just wondering, have just been reading what you said about the Aquilani offer. Does it mean 100% they have to buy him at the end of the year or is this just going to be another Juve situation where they turn around after having him for basically free for a year and say we don't want to pay that now.

Also is there any clarification about Stevie. If he is struggling as some rumours suggest and Aqua is off then I fully expect Sissoko to join.

Sisco

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I don't know what agreement was reached over the terms last night. I have explained what was on the table. If it is eventually a loan to by there will have to be some provision for get out, but assuming this goes though, I would certainly not expect Aquilani to return to Liverpool at the end of the season.}

24 Jul 2011 12:32:44
I suppose I was right about aqua and fiorentina. I said earlier in week around 8m pounds. I said both teans would pay a portion of his wages. Perhaps my future posts will have more credibility. Ill continue to share nonetheless. Good work eds

24 Jul 2011 11:45:41
Aside from Aly Cissokho, who else do you think Liverpool are looking to sign?

24 Jul 2011 11:43:22
Morning Ed do you think there is any possibility that we may be looking to bring in anyone from the Uruguay team? They have looked so good technically in the Copa I think it would be great for us and it can only help with Suarez already being here.

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - I guess Godin may be an option.}

DownUnderRed. {Ed009's Note - As I understand it, this is the deal which is on the table from Fiorentina: A 5 year contract at around 42,000 euros per week for Aquilani, the first year of which will be on loan from Liverpool with Fiorentina paying 1M euros as a one off incentive. During that time both the teams will pay a percentage of Aquaman's wages - I am not yet sure of the exact figure. Then, at the end of the season, the transfer will become permanent with the payment of a further 10M euros. Roma will be paid 500,000 euros by Liverpool on the date the transfer goes through, and will then have to pay Roma any performance related bonuses stemming from the original transfer.}

___________

Ed002 and 009 spot on re above: From Corriere dello sport
"Fiorentina are close to agreeing a deal to bring Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool on loan thanks to his wage sacrifice.The club has been in talks for over a week for the Italy midfielder, although his price-tag and wages have proved massive stumbling blocks.

This morning, director of sport Pantaleo Corvino has achieved a breakthrough. Liverpool are ready to loan Aquilani out to Fiorentina, just as they did with Juventus last season, at a cost of 1m with an option to buy for 11m.

The difference here is that Aquilani has reportedly agreed to slash his wages to help the move go through. He currently earns 3.6m per season, but Fiorentina are offering a five-year deal worth 2.2m per term.

Hi Ed's and readers,
I have been informed that Aquilani was going to leave but has decided he wants to have another bite at the cherry in the premiership. Kenny was going to cash in but with so much uncertainty over Gerrard's fitness it has been decided to keep Aqua until the January window, then both parties can decide how they feel then.

BTW, Agger is not leaving - thats just press bull. Jovanovic has all but signed for Anderlecht and Cole is in talks with Harry at Spurs.
Barcelona did indeed enquire about Suarez, however LFC told them he will not be sold under any circumstances and for any price whatsoever. Suarez is also far too excited about the coming season and does not want to be a player that jumps ship - ie Tevez.

Rodriguez and Meireles are not for sale, contrary to all the press stirings.

Lastly, LFC were interested in Adebayour but he kept asking them to wait while he pondered other moves. Kenny wants people who want to play for Liverpool with pride so he's a forgotten man now.

Hi ed just wondering if we'll sign a right winger?

And if, wich one are most likely of these?

Navas, hazard, Nzogbia, Adam Johnson, malouda, pedro, di maria and HUlk :)

Please post on rumour page :) {Ed002's Note - The chances of most of these players is between 0 and 1 I am afraid. There is an outside chance of one or two.}

Reds to sign Villyan Bijev after agreeing terms with the 18 year old American. He impressed on trial scoring five goals for the Liverpool U-18 side

Could be that back up striker option, young and with lots of potential.

Kenny is still going mainly Prem Proven for now. We are after 2-4 more signings if possible. A LB, CB, RW and ST in order of priority. ST would be a bonus, so for now we have just drawn up a shortlist of who we may pursue later on.

LB - Clichy (gone to MCFC), Baines (Understandably, Everton are being difficult), Enrique (Price too high atm for 1 year on his contract), Cissokho (we are in talks with Lyon currently)

CB - Jones (gone to MUFC), Dann (BCFC asking price is too high, for a relegated team), Cahill (trying to settle on a realistic wage), Samba (Only got to the stage of enquiries).

RW - N'zogbia (we have asked WAFC to be kept informed on any new developments), Johnson (depends on MCFC), Leon (enquired over a loan move)

ST - Sturridge, Park Chu Young, Rodallega are possible.

Thanks,

#The Insider# {Ed002's Note - It is astonishing that Dalglish has drawn up a shortlist including players that have already moved elsewhere this summer. On that basis he may as well have added a few of the guys he played with at Liverpool himself. There are no talks going on with Lyon over Cissokho at the moment and I am by no means convinced that Liverpool and Bolton have agreed a fee for Cahill with only personal terms awaiting completion.}

Morning ED : If Bolton have bid £4 million for N'Gog can we expect some kind of deal with Cahill coming to Liverpool say N'Gog plus £9 Million ? {Ed009's Note - I am not so sure that the N'Gog deal is true, though I will try to find out. If it was, I suppose the exchange would be possible, as Cahill is a viable option for centre back. It is important to remember though that player exchanges are incredibly rare.}

Scott Dann has NOT been approached by Liverpool - how do I know ? a friend of mine knows his father and as of two weeks ago this was the case - he is not fit at present and judging by the way he looked on Bootle golf course yesterday he is going take a while to get fit ( He was playing in a charity golf competition with his father and this is how the subject cropped up as we were playing too) By the way, I am not implying that when he does get fit we will make an approach........so if you read into this, it is unlikely he will be with us ( not his choice by the way )

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish wants Wigans Colombian star Hugo Rodallega but will have to pay £9million to get him.

Dalglish is keen to bring in the powerful attacker to give Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez some top-class {support as the Kop aim to get back on the glory trail this season.

Rodallega has impressed Dalglish in the past couple of years, often dazzling against the Anfield side in games, and he thinks the South American would be a huge asset.

Hey ed, apologies for asking another Aquilani question but I am a tad confused. Some are saying it will be a permanent move, others are saying it will be a loan to buy. I was just wondering if you could clarify please?

DownUnderRed. {Ed009's Note - As I understand it, this is the deal which is on the table from Fiorentina: A 5 year contract at around 42,000 euros per week for Aquilani, the first year of which will be on loan from Liverpool with Fiorentina paying 1M euros as a one off incentive. During that time both the teams will pay a percentage of Aquaman's wages - I am not yet sure of the exact figure. Then, at the end of the season, the transfer will become permanent with the payment of a further 10M euros. Roma will be paid 500,000 euros by Liverpool on the date the transfer goes through, and will then have to pay Roma any performance related bonuses stemming from the original transfer.}

QPR are set to sign El Zar from Liverpool on a free transfer, Liverpool will compensate him with around £300,000 to get him off the books. Neil Warnock said to be pleased with this deal, As he's still a young player with some top flight experience and could replace Adel Taarabt should QPR cash in on him, although this signing is partly to convince Adel to stay by signing his fellow countryman.

Daily Mail is reporting a 4 mil Bolton bid for Ngog - and our interest in Wigan's Rodallega for 9 mil. Don't know how true it is.

Ed, i've noticed a number of comments regarding Agger going to Bayern. Has this rumour got any legs? {Ed009's Note - I have not heard anything. I also doubt we will sell our best defender when it is clear what we really need is to reinforce that area.}
