Question for either of the eds but I know we have offered for Kovacic 'which in everyone's opinion is never going through now' are there back ups for him on our target list? In the position the club sees him for.

Could you provide a few names?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - there doesn't seem to be anyone currently being targeted as a back up in case it falls through.}

24 Jun 2015 21:55:35
The club still confident we can get the deal done mate? Journo's still reporting we have interest in him when clearly we do.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 22:55:43
Do you think with how we handled the Firmino transfer the club could go back and clear things up, make a better offer, take some of the Inter people out for a nice dinner perhaps?? ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 00:55:54
Likely an opportunistic purchase then. if available we buy and move Allen and if an acceptable bid is not feasible we keep Allen. ?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 01:11:43
I still think there's a reasonable chance of this deal Happening.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jun 2015 08:00:34
Kovacic is a really exciting player but how the hell are we going to play with all the midfielders (good ones as well) we have amassed? Just feel for Ibe and Markovic (who might go on loan) with scarce chances.

Nice problem to have I suppose but while he's a class act I think £20m or so could be better spent elsewhere.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 11:32:46
Illarramendi perhaps?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out no. It seems we are being linked with him purely to let people know he is on the market, not because we are actually making any kind of move for him.}

24 Jun 2015 21:09:52
Hi eds great as always. 👍anything in the volland rumours? I'd love our next signing to be bacca. who would any of the eds like??

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about the Volland stories at all. I would like Bacca myself, I like what I have seen of him.}

25 Jun 2015 08:55:46
Didn't Aspas just score a ridiculous number of goals for Sevilla as well Ed001. let's hope Bacca isn't cut from the same cloth that already proved a failure at LFC, I'm still to be convinced but that's usually a good sign and the person when signed goes on to do well, lol

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 16:07:19
Aspas scored 2 goals. Hardly a ridiculous number of goals at Sevilla. If you mean at Celta, he got 12 goals I think. Nothing compared to Bacca's 27 goals last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 21:05:11
hey eds, is there anything new on bacca?

and where do you think firmino's best position would be in the lfc squad?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - nothing yet and he is best playing off a main striker.}

25 Jun 2015 09:04:20
With the transfer deals currently gone through, what's your opinion on next seasons formation? Also while Coutinho likes to drift left and play left CAM, do you feel he should be in the centre? With Firmino now it's less likely again

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not going to get into formation chats on the rumour page. It just fills it up with something that I have repeatedly discussed on the teams page.}

25 Jun 2015 15:01:46
There's a teams page!!

Gotta expand my horizons. Sorry about that though, if I had known I would have posted there. I mean I knew what I asked wasn't really transfer rumours related but I like getting the opinions of the Eds because ye know yere stuff. Unlike a comment I read just a moment ago saying 'put kovacic in defensive midfield'. No, just no.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 20:53:49
Hi eds, love this site.
I seen that you said we getting our business done early, just got a couple of questions if that's alright.
Just like to know are we still pushing for clyne or can't you see it happening?
Kovacic you say our offer still on table, in your own opinion can you see it going through or no? Or do you think inter will hold onto him and sell someone else.
Last question mate
Bacca or rondon? Do you expect us to bid for either of them.
thanks eds, much appreciated

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - so far we have not been back to go for Clyne, it is believed that Gomez is an instead of signing as he plays right back. I don't know how true that is and have never seen the lad play to even have an opinion of it is likely to be true.
I think Inter will find a way to avoid selling Kovacic personally.
I expect us to go for Bacca, I would be very disappointed if we ended up with Rondon.}

24 Jun 2015 21:12:11
Thanks ed, I like us to get bacca personally, thanks anyways.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 22:32:09
This is taken right out of the sky,, but I smell Robbie Keane all over bacca , but that's just a feeling. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 09:06:47
Bacca looks good. And I certainly don't want to complain about age cause we need some older heads in the team, but just wondering if FSG are willing to pay a large sum for a 28 year old.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2015 11:23:39
I just have some reservations about a Colombian who lives in Sevilla settling into life on Merseyside, it's a different world. For me Clive, I think Aubameyang would be better.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 20:40:48
Hi Eds.

Was just wondering if we have any interest in Granit Xhaka? With Inter dawdling for either a better deal for Kovacic or until they have the opportunity to sell someone else. He would be a great option.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not that I know of mate.}

24 Jun 2015 20:11:06
Hi Guys, followed the site for a long time now and always find reliable bits of info, great work! Heard from a very credible source today (cliché I know!) That Lambert may well be on his way down south with Bournemouth, any idea Eds??

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - they are keen to do a deal yes. I am not sure if he is quite as keen to leave though!}

24 Jun 2015 19:04:13
Hi Eds, cheers for all the good work. Such a reliable source amongst all the baloney out there.
Do you think origi will be loaned out again? Hope he is, still not good enough for the prem.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I am told it will be assessed in preseason and a decision made. Until they get a good look at him with our players, they are not sure. But then no one is even sure who is making the decisions right now, so it really could change at the drop of a hat.}

24 Jun 2015 19:35:58
It was a small sample but Origi looked like a perfect fit for Brendans system. Very mobile and he can play. A lot of potential there

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 20:11:51
Got a good feeling about Origi. Something about the way he moves just makes me think the lad is going to be class.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 20:44:41
Can you explain a little closer on what you mean with "no one is even sure who is making the decisions right now":)? Thx in advance ed01.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - well the transfers are not Rodgers' decisions. The review has clearly removed him from that facet of the manager's role. That much is sure. I am just not sure who is actually now making the decisions, as someone is clearly acting on the scouts' recommendations. For instance Firmino, as Ed002 and myself have been saying for a long time, was of interest to the club, but Rodgers was the one who was against him being brought in, so he was not signed last summer. I would normally think it was the committee taking full control of transfers, but I was told that the committee was also seen as a failure by the review. The problem is that FSG are keeping everything locked down, leaks would be met with instant dismissal, so it is proving difficult to find out who is making the decisions. I don't know if Ed002 knows, but right now I am completely in the dark over it.}

24 Jun 2015 22:28:41
A thousands thanks for The respond.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 22:50:10
As annoying as it must be,that sounds pretty positive,right?

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 22:12:04
ed01 remember that article wat said rogers was sacked ages ago and klopp woud take over and him and his advisours were telling fsg who to target player wise ha? just like you say its very strange at the mo Rodgers not saying anything is he still alive? I don't no at the min but all seems very weired!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I wish that were true.}

27 Jun 2015 17:41:25
I've watched Origi play for Lille this season, since we've signed him after the WC. Honestly I don't see how he is going to help us improve. Not good enough for us. Further more he was voted one of the worst Ligue 1 player last season. We signed him too fast just because he had 1 good game(scored) in the WC for Belgium.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 18:45:36
Hope we sign Clyne/Montoya or do u think there's a chance to loan Carvajal or Arbeloa since madrid now have 3 Right backs? Kovacic and Bacca in aswell since they're heavily linked then i think we can get top 4. thoughts?

Believable5 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - neither Carvajal nor Arbeloa are an option at the moment. Considering the way Arbeloa was desperate to leave when he was here last time (which was one of the issues behind his on pitch bust up with Carragher, who was unhappy with the way he acted while trying to force a move away) I would suggest it would be lunacy to bring Arbeloa back. He is no better than Mascherano, Suarez or Sterling in his actions. All of them forced their way out, none should be welcome back to play for the club.}

26 Jun 2015 00:32:26
I don't think sterling forced his way out, he's young and been given bad advice and allowed others to talk for him. He should stay imo, as he needs a lot of work, if he goes to city he may become the next victim. P.s. He can't shoot anyway ha ha p.p.s. My mates back off hols at weekend so ill ask him to have a sniff about, he's not been wrong yet! Have a good weekend all

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 17:45:25
Hi eds just wondering if we are still in for cline and kocavic?

Also is our midfield overpacked now?We have hendo,can,coutinhio,firmino,Milner,Lucas,Allen,Potentially kocavic or has signing firmino ruled this out?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not right now and the offer is still there but waiting on Inter to sort something, though there is always a chance we move on in the meantime.

Our midfield could well be considered overstocked, I would expect someone to move on, namely Allen. Certainly someone at Swansea claims he was offered to them but they decided not to bring him back at the price being asked.}

24 Jun 2015 18:23:23
Ed1
Any ideas as ti any of our other midfield targets? Asking as it seems we are looking for two midfielders to replace Gerrard and allen if he leaves as you say which is possible with milner already arriving??

P.s Firmino signing. Skrtel may be leaving, Ilori being given a chance, Wisdom getting a contract, Us no longer making Derisory bids, Pipping Manchester United to sign a player, possibility of bacca and kovacic yet to come. good days eh?

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 22:49:26
if we are not acting based on rodgers decision, i assume were keeping lucas ed001?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - so far yes.}

25 Jun 2015 09:06:12
Great spot Kaizer, I hadn't thought of that but hopefully Lucas will stay!

24 Jun 2015 17:44:24
Eds I've heard the kovacic rumour was started by the metro, other journos ran with it and it became a hot rumour. Apparently the truth is we have no interest in him at all?Can you shed any light on this?

Btw I heard this on redmen tv, they do a great job as do you guys.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - they are wrong. It was nothing to do with the Metro, they do not start rumours, they copy what is on the net already and make it into a story. So they are not a source, they are merely a conduit. Anyone who claims they started a rumour, clearly has not bothered to do their research.}

24 Jun 2015 18:23:22
Ok well his specific words were that the metro took it from an Italian paper, with similar credentials to the metro. i hope we actually are interested

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is nonsense.}

24 Jun 2015 19:40:48
I thought I actually read this article in the metro! Conspiracy maybe ;)

24 Jun 2015 16:27:57
Ed001, alright mate , would I be right in thinkin that Firmino was one of the lads you mentioned a year or so ago when you mentioned a few South American lads were bein seriously looked at by our scouts?, there wasn't much said after because of part timers on here givin yous abuse because the names were unknowns and not the likes neymar, cavani etc, etc,
Cheers for all the effort you lot make for us. For little reward an all il add.

Red pasty

Believable5 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - yes mate it was. Well remembered, I think Ed002 did give out more details as well, and even mentioned him again recently as a possible that we may revive interest in.}

24 Jun 2015 20:50:33
Actually, NO. Ed002 was talking about Canigga looking at a number of players PLAYING in South America NOT LAST YEAR, but the year before last.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 12:49:36
ED002 if you are about after your long flight home last night

In regards to Bacca, ED001 has mentioned that representatives / agents from Liverpool have sounded him out, regarding the possibility of a transfer to Liverpool

Do you know what his response was? (Negative? Positive? Or a maybe with certain guarantees?)

Or are the club still awaiting a reply, before negotiating a fee with Sevilla?

Thanks in advance Ed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They can talk to his representatives and not the player. No offer has been made to Sevilla for Bacca. Right now, the player says he is happy with Sevilla and the future plans the club has.}

24 Jun 2015 16:55:16
Orite ed balague says that bacca asks Sevilla for a way out come the end of the season.

Any credibility? Or are we talking just what you know?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - His agent did make approaches to at least two English clubs as I have explained.}

24 Jun 2015 17:08:07
Ok thanks for the info Ed002

So, we hold interest, but no communication has officially been held as of yet

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 17:17:24
Hey eds!
Can you mention the teams interested in bacca?
Is there a stiff competition for him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There have been no bids offered to Sevilla at this time. Liverpool, Monaco, Roma, Spurs, Lazio and Inter (not Milan) have expressed an interest in Bacca. His agent has made unsolicited approaches to two English sides, Manchester United and Arsenal.}

24 Jun 2015 14:17:29
Hi Eds, what teams are interested in taking Markovic on loan? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Benfica would do but I don't see it happening.}

24 Jun 2015 14:50:57
Hi eds . This is to ed1 I sent a message earlier about a young kid who is apparently signing for Liverpool from Newcastle . He will be playing U15s next season . Apparently he hasn't signed just yet and things are too stay hush hush until he does . I will ask again in a weeks time when hopefully you might have heard something , unless you have heard anything since this morning .
Cheers
Jamesee

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely I will hear anything, at that age it tends to be very much below the radar. Plus you still haven't mentioned a name!}

24 Jun 2015 13:36:32
Hi Ed's thanks for all the great updates
Just wondering with the club being open to loaning out Markovic, are they looking for him to stay in PL or willing to send him to anyone that will take him?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - they want him to go somewhere he will develop.}

24 Jun 2015 14:42:09
I don't understand logic in sending him on loan. I think he can k play regularly as he performance very well for Serbia. Eds hope you elucidate the matter.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - because he played poorly last season and his confidence dropped. He needs to ensure he gets regular first team football.}

24 Jun 2015 15:32:32
Maybe we shoud've paid more attention to what Mourinho/Chelsea said about him before we signed him last summer - that he wasn't ready for the Premier League and needed more time with Benfica. Am I right in saying they could've got him for well less than what we paid but knew he wasn't ready? Hopefully a loan move helps because he has potential, showed it in patches last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, but Benfica and Chelsea were happy with the deal.}

24 Jun 2015 18:49:53
Hopefully the Prem if anywhere. Ibe isn't going to be loaned out is he?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is not intended to be loaned out.}

24 Jun 2015 12:41:32
Eds rumours floating around that we like Volland aswell. Could Hoffenheim be our new Southampton haha. i'd rather we got Volland than Bacca but as The Real AG pointed out too me the other day we don't need Volland.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about these rumours, sorry.}

24 Jun 2015 13:00:33
Everyone is under agreement with bacca one because be is a pressing striker but mainly because he isn't going to block the path for the vast amounts of younger talents we have.

Wheras volland isn't a pressing striker but also will block the path for the younger talents.

Bacca all the way.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 12:31:25
Eds, does Markovic have a LFC future? Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - for now, yes.}

24 Jun 2015 13:00:50
For 25 million I expect him to be around for a while.

id imagine with firmino signing we have no interest in kono

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 13:01:08
Not needed. And not good enough for the prem tbh

24 Jun 2015 13:19:32

What position he plays?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - midfield.}

24 Jun 2015 10:59:05
Hi EDS. Great work on here! First time posting but just wondering if you could gove an update on potential ins and outs in the defensive areas! We seem to be strenthening midfield and uptop but not much being mentioned in regards to defense! Cheers

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - we signed Gomez mate, we were only looking to bring in a right back and it seems right now that we have gone with him and giving Wisdom a chance. Right now I only expect an out from the centre back position, which seems to be Skrtel, as his agent is certainly trying to get offers in. We would love to offloan Enrique, but it seems no one else is keen on signing a new social media expert to their club at the moment. Things should become clearer over the next week or two though.}

24 Jun 2015 11:43:16
Do you think Liverpool would be better off, playing Wisdom at CB rather than RB?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not for me, no. I think he is better as an old fashioned full back who can actually defend first and foremost.}

24 Jun 2015 11:51:22
'Social media expert' that's about all he's good at, foes he have long left on his contract??

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - one year I think.}

24 Jun 2015 11:56:44
Is clyne interest completely gone?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not completely, but we have shown no signs of upping our offer near the amount Southampton want.}

24 Jun 2015 12:08:05
do you not feel that Wisdom would flounder many an attack though? Full backs in the modern game need that ability on the ball, and helping to provide width in attack.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is good on the ball and can provide support for the attack in a similar way to Azpilicueta at Chelsea. You don't have to be an auxiliary winger to help out an attack. Most of the time modern full backs get forward far too early and block up space for an attack anyway.}

24 Jun 2015 12:11:15
Don't forget he's got a great eye for a top player!wouldn't mind getting my hands on what Enrique's on for Glastonbury

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 13:11:54
I don't care how it has happened or why but I am glad that Wisdom and Illori appear to be getting opportunities in the first team this coming season.
See a post above about attacking full backs, Moreno is fine on the left, I am happy with Wisdom not being the galloping wing back. Having a CB/RB that can offer cover to the CB's whilst Moreno gets forward is fine with me, will make us more solid defensively.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 13:59:47
I'd much rather have slightly better FB's defensively and a solid DM in the side, especially now with the likes of Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge, Hendo, Milner, Llalana, Ibe etc. in attack. We should be able to create goals without relying too much on FB's (although the odd overlap wouldn't hurt to mix it up. )

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 14:58:32
I'd say we'll go again for Clyne after the current business is wrapped up. Felt kinda sorry for Manquillo last season but we won't need him if Clyne comes in.

It's a strange one if Skerts leaves. I'd hope for him to be replaced by an experienced quality CB but we've got Toure, Ilori and now Gomez, although I'd say the latter will take at least one season to emerge.

Saw Enrique in the gym with Aspas on instagram, hope to god his buddy can convince Celta Vigo to sign him as well. Or any club at all, please! And Eds IF we can get rid of Enrique might a new left-back come in?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 08:57:28
Hey eds!
With firmino signing will the intrest in signing bacca vanish?
Or there can still be a chance of we being intrested in signing him?
Thankyou!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is not a related move at all. Firmino was not instead of Bacca, they play completely different roles.}

24 Jun 2015 09:17:56
Really hope the club is still chasing a CF because Firmino is not one. If we get our hands on both Bacca and Firmino, i have no doubt the club will easily get top4 next season. But that unfortunately signals the end for Markovic and probably Teixiera at the club as they will not get any game time with all the AMs already at the club plus Firmino now.
What do u think Ed001, will the club still go for a CF now Firmino has signed or will Firmino be used as a CF by Brendan?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Firmino is not the end of the transfer business mate. We still want another striker too. I would assume that getting one would mean Origi will have to go out on loan. Teixeira was expected to get another loan move anyway, to help him recover from his injury. I also am told it is likely Markovic will be moved out on loan.}

24 Jun 2015 09:28:15
Yeah Firmino is our dreamy Sterling replacement, but a 1st choice striker is still needed. I just can't see us signing Bacca somehow, don't think he'd be too keen. If the Rondon interest is real maybe him, I guess Aubamayang is a bit pricey. Gameiro as a fall back option.

Now, roll up roll up and get in line for two Italian strikers. Only slightly used and available in multiple club colours. A lion and a sloth that are guaranteed to bring any Serie A side at least some headlines.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 09:33:49
I beleive they can play similair roles, I actually hope that he Will play like a forward, and that we play 4-4-2 with diamond on the mid. IF we get rid of lambert, borini and balo that means we have 4 frontmen in studge, origi, firmino and ings. that's good enough for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 09:41:44
A penny for Sterlings thoughts this morning, he probably thought we where a spent force, I really think we can do better without him hoping anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 10:43:49
If we can't find a top top striker at the right price in this window, I'd also be happy to have Studge, Firmino, Ings and Origi as the strikers until next window

Best thing about Firmino is his versatility to play upfront (with Ings?) while Sturridge injured so we're not forced to panic buy like last season. time to be patient and strengthen FB and DM if we can get Clyne/Kovacic

If last season taught us anything, we shouldn't use all our bullets in one go if the right players aren't there

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 12:03:58
How's it going Ed001?

I know the likes of Bacca and Firmino are definitely unrelated pieces of transfer business, but I'm just wondering about the financial side of it? As in is the club capable of spending the proposed large sums of money it would take for both signings, considered the debt were supposed to be in?

Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea, I do not have access to the accounts of the entire group to have any kind of opinion on that.}

24 Jun 2015 15:24:06
We've already sold Aspas and if we can sell Sterling, Borini, Skertl and Coates I'd imagine we'd achieved a profit this transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 08:29:11
Is there any truth in the rumours that benefica want to take manquillo on loan?
And eds, do you rate him personally?

Thanks in advance.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - there have been a few clubs interested in taking him, not sure if Benfica are one though. Personally I do not rate him, he is big, strong and quick, technically good on the ball, but he has no positional sense, his crossing is poor, he gets caught wrong side of his man constantly, lacks concentration which means he just wanders around not thinking about what is going on around him and lacks any kind of defensive anticipation, which is why he is always chasing back wrong side and never actually getting near. While the modern full back tends to be more about attack, usually they at least anticipate the need to get back when the ball is lost, so they are already moving when the ball goes into their defensive area. Manquillo is usually caught out by it and so loses time reacting and breaking into a run which costs the team badly.}

24 Jun 2015 09:06:58
Pretty much a perfect analysis. Thank you!

Can Liverpool loan him out and then still sign him if he turns out better? Or can you not loan a loanee?

{Ed002's Note - With the agreement of his club, yes.}

Kind of like Moreno for most of the season IMO.

Liverpool FC have today completed a deal to sign Brazil international Roberto Firmino, subject to a medical after the Copa America.

Finally trump Manyoo right under their noses for one of their signings after the Depay incident. It also meant that the gag order on BR must have worked haha! This is how business should be done. Quick and dirty.

A friend of mine who usually gives good info says Sterling is nailed on to City. Also,City have been knocked back by Fulham with their opening offer for Patrick Roberts and have pulled out of the deal, leaving us as the most likely to sign him, as long as terms can be agreed with Fulham. He has been a long term target along with Joe Gomez, both have grown up together through the England youth teams and are top of our scouting list.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - Patrick Roberts is pretty much doing to Fulham, with less headline fanfare, what Sterling is doing to us.}

24 Jun 2015 09:34:22
I don't think we should get into anything messy to sign Roberts. We have Ibe and Markovic who are both very young, let Roberts go somewhere else.

This lad is a Liverpool fan, so I do hope we sign him. I very much doubt he will hold us to randsom for a move away from his boyhood club; even his parents are red Scousers.

The move would be ideal for the club if they could loan him back out again to continue his first team development.

Hi looks like Firmino has signed and will be announced within 24hrs. Can any ED confirm please?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - contracts need to be drawn up, signed, medicals taken and work permits obtained. Our medicals take more than 24 hrs on their own, so no, don't expect it to be announced quite yet.}

A very exciting signing, I'm just going to close my eyes and hold my breath until it's actually signed sealed and delivered.

Without talkin money, have we offered roughly double his release clause Eds? Still a good deal if we get more than that for Sterling.

Thanks!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no idea, I have not taken any notice of that, nor do I think it matters as it only applied to Bundesliga clubs and he wanted to come to England.}

24 Jun 2015 09:05:41
Ah ok, I didn't realize that. Thanks for the clarification! :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am surprised we announced it before the medical, we normally wait, which leads to a couple of days of people moaning on here to us about it not being done!}

24 Jun 2015 10:41:42
Yeah it's unusual. Now it'll lead to days of people watching the Copa America and praying for him not to get injured.

Question for you, Ed001, if you don't mind?

Have we actually signed Firmino or is the deal still open to a potential hijacking?

Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is done but any deal can be hijacked up until player registrations are transferred over, which can not be done before July 1st.}

23 Jun 2015 23:31:16
Sorry eds, quickfire 3 posts, would signing Firmmino impact our interest in Kovacic?
I presume if we bring both in that would pretty much confirm Sterling's departure- the lad wouldn't even make the first team, never mind our financial situation!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They are completely different players - don't mix the two up. I have explained the Sterling situation - he is outbound.}

Hi eds,

What's the situation with Borini? As BBC reported about a week ago, his agent has come out and made it known that he wants a move. Who are the potential suitors and do we know what kind of fee he will command. I heard we had a £14mil fee agreed with Sunderland last summer, and feel it would be amazing if we could get anything near this ammount for him.

Thanks in advance,

Jake

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Lazio are showing an interest in Borini, but it is unclear if they will push for a move as they are looking at others as well still. His representative are aware that they need to look for options and he has spoken with Fiorentina who will, I think, make an offer.}

24 Jun 2015 01:22:27
If what the BBC and co are reporting is true and Firmino is about to join for such a high fee (wont get into sums and money) then i just can't seem to fathom why so much is being invested into another creater? I know he will improve the team but surely someone who can score lots of goals is what is required right now. If we start with an attacking midfield 3 of Ibe, Coutinho and Firmino what will that bear for the likes of Lallana, Markovic, Texeira and others. don't know what everyone elses thoughts are on the matter including the eds who i know seem to rate the player but surely contextually its not what's needed

Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am told that Liverpool offered Hoffenheim far more than anyone else and with the player having a low termination clause they were pleased to say yes. Both the Napoli South American scout and a Chelsea representative in Chile tell me that his representative has spoken with a number of clubs but it is Liverpool who were more agreeable to the terms. Nothing is conformed at this time - there are contracts to do and a work permit to organise.}

24 Jun 2015 01:55:13
So could that reported fee of £29m be true Ed002? Seems an awful lot for him if so.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - As I have said, Liverpool offered way more than any other side, this got the agreement of Hoffenheim who continued to be concerned about his very low termination clause - although I am not sure why as Bayern Munich dropped their interest and Dortmund and Schalke would likely not been of interest to the player.}

24 Jun 2015 02:09:40
Thanks Ed002, hopefully we get more info in the coming days/weeks to shed more light on it.

24 Jun 2015 02:42:58
Ed, you're not seriously suggesting we made an offer that didn't just put a club or player off doing business with us?!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - shocking isn't it? Maybe a sign the club is learning lessons at last?}

24 Jun 2015 03:02:26
I guess it's better than bidding £4M like we usually seem to do. Seems an odd one to me based on our past behavior.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 07:11:57
29mln seems a bit high but then 32.5mln for Benteke and 50mln for Sterling seems ridiculous.

Aside from numbers though I think it's a great move, particularly because it's not obvious there were any CL quality strikers available right now. When put in that context, replacing Sterling for Firmino who can play upfront but also on wing or attacking mid as the team requires(particularly while Sturridge is injured) is a great piece of business and I really hope it goes through.

Will be awesome to see the link up play between Couts and Firmino and gives me hope for some excitement next season, something that was sorely lacking in the last.

Eds

Know anything about the firmino links which have cropped up regarding the deal being completel? Are they true?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is not completed but I understand Liverpool have offered Hoffenheim considerably more than anyone else. Due to his release clause, they will be more than happy with the offer. A Chelsea representative in Chile says his agent has been there and spoken with a number of sides about the player and that Liverpool appeared to be willing to agree terms. The Napoli South American scout tells me the same.}

24 Jun 2015 00:07:34
Hearing from a source close to the club the Bacca will be made BR's next priority in spite of his age (29 in September)

This is because he came to Europe when he was already 25 and has been playing in a top league for just 2 seasons.

Personally I think we'll get at least 2 or 3 good seasons out of him and there are enough young players at the club so his age shouldn't be a determining factor.
