{Ed022's note - brand new player profile on James Rodriguez of FC Porto. Linked with most top European clubs in recent times. www.player-profiles.co.uk - Enjoy all.}

So that rules Liverpool out, not a top European side

eds, rather than what you've heard, in your own honest opinions do you think that FSG will keep kenny dalglish on next season {Ed002's Note - Eds will have different views. I suspect he will not be manager.}

Have to agree with the ed. I really wanted KK back as manager but the recent signings and the distinct lack of any tactical knowledge from the sidelines makes me feel that I was completely wrong. Perhaps Purple Nose was right and 20 years away is too long and that is the hardest bit to swallow.

We need to realize that KK is not the man who will lead us challenge the title

FSG must be barmy if they still think Kenny is the man for the long run. When he came back, I for one wasn't convinced that he was the man who could bring progress to the club. He left management for a long time and his last stint at Newcastle was not impressive either. His appointment was influenced by the majority of fans and another factor could be that there was no one else to take over after Roy. At that time it was a breath of fresh air but unfortunately it was blowing in the wrong direction when he bought average players at inflated prices. I doubt we can sell Downing even at 10mn,least i can say about Carroll. Only Suarez and Enrique were decent buys. Like some fans calling for the return of Rafa, I say we should give him another shot and the financial support. Get Mcmahon or Rushieor even Steve Nicholl as asistant manager. Maybe Carra or Gerrard could come in as well in dual roles.

I think people are asking too much to expect us to get it all right in one summer transfer window. Sure, we're all disappointed with yesterdays result, but anyone with any sense knows that these things happen and that a work in progress will have the odd hiccup.

I didn't hear anyone calling for his head when we won the Carling cup and i reckon the voices of doom will crawl back under their rocks if we get to the cup final.

You know, Liverpool fans were always known for their intelligence and common sense. I suggest that people show some and realise that you can't build a title winning team in one season.

Nobody is speaking from a title winning team...
But with 100 Mill spent you can at least expect a challenge for top 4...
and we are nowhere near that!

You're only saying that because that's how things happen at your soulless chelsea club ed! {Ed002's Note - You really need to get away from this embarrassing deal with making constant comparisons with other clubs. Glifnard.}

If, as a lot of us seem to be speculating, Kenny does decide to step down at the end of the season. How would we realistically like to take-over? Ive had my thinking cap on & came up with a short-list of possible successors.
(in no particular order)
1. Frank Rijkaard
2. Rafa Benitez
3. Brendan Rogers
4. Louis Van Gaal
5. Luciano Spalletti
6. Stale Solbakken
7. David Moyes
8. Unai Emery
9. Andres Villas Boas
10. Didier Deschamps
11. Jurgen Klopp
12. Luis Enrique

I am not convinced all of these guys would take the job. But most are young, hungry managers. Which I believe is what we need. Im interested in who you guys would go for, if the unthinkable happens.

Mick D

Rafa all day every day

L7

"if the unthinkable happens"? Yet you've had your "thinking cap on"?

Please...

Stone YNWA.

David f*****g Moyes. Are you for real you pleb?

Id be tempted to give rodgers the job. it is similar to what we have been playing lately with dalglish, i think he would use youth (dalglish will to now i imagine) only problem i have is transfers he has not really been on the end of to many "spectaculuar ones but his team is not bad im not taking that away.

i wouldnt mind klopp or even boas to tell you the truth as long as he does not exile gerrard. gerrard is not power hungry.

moyes maybe does well with little money to spend (3.2 net in 10 years?)

maybe even rafa. not the best choice but he does love the club no denying that

1,3 and 10 might be possibles but the rest are def non-runners (esp no2)

"If the unthinkable happens" - not unthinkable at all if you ask med. Kenny is a legend, and I absolutely worship him for what he has done for this club. However, he clearly does not have any idea what it is like to manage in 2012. So many strange calls every week.

I would go with Rafa every day. From your list I also fancy the likes of Deschamps and Enrique, maybe even Solbakken.

/DanishKopite

3, 8, 9, & 12 are too inexperienced IMO
5 & 6 are not good enough (win % is v. low)
7 would never take it (obviously)
Leaving 1, 2, 4, 10 & 11

Klopp has already stated his desire to stay put, Rijkaard is probably getting paid way too much where he is to tempt him away, can't see Van Gaal leaving Bayern either. So out of your list I reckon it would be between Benitez & Dechamps, but I'm sure we were linked with Pellegrini a while back? Could do a lot worse than one of those 3 I reckon.

I stopped reading your list when I got to David Moyes.

No guardiola?

I'd give kenny 1 final season although deep down i love the guy but don't think he's cutting it. It just makes sense to give him 1 more season with an eye to a long term replacement

What about Bob Bradley (former USA manager).. yanks like other yanks.lol

I would like to see Rafa back. I might be wrong but we were a great team under him.
Klopp wont be given a chance by the british f**** media. Guss hidink wil be my secong choice may be even Bisla or deschamp

How about poaching Martin O'Neill? And have him take James McClean with him.

Hugh Pugh.

Why bother mentioning david moyes? will never happen even though you have to say he is class

If we are going to win the league splash the cash and get Mourinho

Rijkaard or hiddink.............or hansen!?

Lets get this straight right now. Any manager wanting to play his style of football will want a serious budget to make things happen straight away, and with the clock ticking it will be only a matter of time before we're in the same place again looking for another manager who will demand another budget.
It is clearly seen Dalglish's way of playing creates chance after chance with the most shots on goal, the most hit woodwork, where if we had converted our chances we would be in top 2. The Premiership is a fast moving game, and in a tight penalty area, small players can spin in and shoot where the tall ones like Carroll have no chance. In the warm up before kick off i have Carroll from way outside the area hit either top corner and gutted it's not working out for him yet. I do believe with another 2 smaller more mobile strikers like Tevez will be the key to Dalglish lifting the Premiership.
Confident play makers and a new winger would really make us special.

Liverpool's problem always has been strength and depth of squad where with a reasonably good 11 we can beat the top teams in Europe but without a 2nd tier of quality players we will always be a charity and be lose out to the bottom teams, who play differently to the top teams, park the bus, out muscle us and the reason we lost to QPR and Wigan. This is why we could quite easily win the FA. Cup because Spurs, Chelsea, Sunderland and Everton will come out to play.

John Henry should give a great budget to Dalglish and see then if he can get near winning the premiership.
If Kenny is in the same place next year, then please please please get Rafa back in, he knows the club, he can create miracles with an average team, and was extremely unlucky he was forced out just before the new owners moved in.
All real Liverpool supporters who know their stuff knows Gillette and Hicks messed him, Torres, and Mascherano around, and messed up the clubs progression to the summit.

Benitez tactically is amazing, beating Real Madrid and Barca, and everyone in Premiership when it counts, where i feel all other managers are only able to beat Rafa and King Kenny with big budgets and big squads.

Gomes, Hazard, Abidal, Robben would be 4 great buys for Liverpool.

In King Kenny we trust

Luis enrique ?? is he a manager now ? who with ?

If we have the cash and ambition, Mour is the man who can bring guaranteed success. If not i have to say Rafa is the next best choice for he loves the club very much. Then get an old boy of the club to be asistant manager. Even Carra and Gerrard can play the supporting role since age is catching up on them. Certainly not someone from Chelsea. Even Phil Thompson did a decent job when Houllier was away recuperating. As for Kenny he still remains a legend in my book.

Perhaps people will realise that Rafa was doing well under a limited budget and those two idiots in charge of our club. To be honest I don't know how he managed to keep going with them undermining him all the time. plus the blatant racsim from the press how dare a spanish man challenge the special one and Fergie! To sack him and not give him a chance to put it right. when we were 2nd he wanted david silva and david villa 60Million. that would have done it. what did the yanks give him?

Brendan Rodgers for me!

Harley

Do not let mourinho anywhere near the club, he would drag it to his level. i would go and get AVB , a great young manager. give him cash and a 3 year project. he won 4 trophies in one season with porto and the loony at chelsea barely gave him 6 months, then again that same loony scaked ancelotti and paid £50m for a washed up spaniard !

What about paul lambert. doing a great job with norwich. it is him or rodgers for me.
the wise one

Rafa PLEASE

Mourinho?

Ed there are stories that both rossi and lavezzi will may leave in the summer, do you see either as possible signings for lfc? {Ed002's Note - Giuseppe Rossi will leave Villareal in the summer and a move to Italy is most likely if he leaves Spain. Barcelona may be interested. There is interest in Levezzi from several clubs including Manchester City, Juventus, Zenit and PSG. I think it would take a very high bid to get Napoli to consider selling the player and I think the player himself is happy where he is right now.}

24 Mar 2012 19:42:28
If Madrid wins la liga and champions league, Eds do you think mourinho will join LFC if he's given the option? {Ed002's Note - No.}

That is all.

CT13

Evening ed 02 can you tell us why he wouldn't take the job. Cheers
John {Ed002's Note - It is not a matter for discussion. Sorry.}

Since the teams he left havent been sucking? he builds for now. not later. we need a later manager who's ego is not bigger then the club. for instance look how well inter and chelsea are doing now. look at the problems

You pretty much answered your own question...

Why would a manager leave a position at the very top of his profession to go a big barrel of sh!te like Liverpool?

Leave Ronaldo, Benzema, Higuain, Di Maria, Ozil, Alonso and Kaka behind for Suarez, Gerrard, Downing, Adam, Carrol, Henderson (and the rest of the dross)...are you kidding me?

Gav

24 Mar 2012 19:04:55
Any chance of us signing Kevin Gameiro in the the summer? {Ed002's Note - Could Liverpool ask for him as part of the deal for Suarez you mean?}

Liked it Ed :D

No just a signing to partner him?

Now ed002 you should know better than to rattle the cages.ros red

Hi ed , I doubt suarez will go anywhere in the summer

24 Mar 2012 18:19:02
Hi Eds seeing as all the Villareal players are up for sale do you think we have an interest in Musacchio? I know we have adequate cover for CB but i think he is an excellant defender for a good price.

Thanks

Ghandi Floss {Ed002's Note - A move to England would be unlikely in my view.}

24 Mar 2012 16:53:08
Eds,

After todays performance, what do you think will happen with Kenny? Given say 15 games into next season or do you reckon he could leave earlier?

And Sterlings looking good, he should be playing more

Transfers:
Reckon Reina could leave due to these poor performances?
Kuyt due to first team opportunities?
{Ed001's Note - as I have said repeatedly, the decision will be made at the end of the season.}

Apparently the players do not have any motivation, their body language is the worst i have seen in the entire year. if we wait till the end of the season we will finish at the bottom half of the table.

Reina can hardly complain about our poor form. He's been awful between the sticks this year

Kop71

Nothing will happen - he is King Kenny after all.

Reina's played awfully. Kuyt is hardly showing why he's complaining about a lack of first team, he's becoming a ghost in matches, and his legs are catching up with him so the pressure he could impose and his durability he had seems to be fizzling away. Want to see alot more of Shelvey, and a few more cameos with Sterling working towards a start before the end of the season.

The players dont seem to commit themselves anymore, and i think they're doing it on purpose. everyone is looking forward to the fa cup and thats all they care about.

on the other hand, very happy to see sterling on the pitch. didnt have much time to make an impact but looks promising. and for sure shelvey is definitely ready for some starts, best player on the pitch.

The answer is simple... When u buy average players from average teams they can't hack the pressure with big teams...downing wasn't even Aston villas best player and we bort him...Henderson wasn't sunderlands best player and we bort him Charlie Adam was the best player but his team got relegated... Carroll was a good player in the championship by far the worst signing in the premier league....we're losing against relegation teams what's next actually b in a relegation battle ?? Awfull

So shelvy and raheem to be given a go! hang on we spent 100 million! how about hendo the future Gerrard and Adam the new Alonso.

It's the approach that was all wrong. To buy British should have been replaced by "to buy the best possible available player for the position needed to be filled on the team". Look at Rafa's team of 2005, that won the Champions League....... YNWA ra1969

Everyone needs to know, you don't really need a squad of 20 world class players. What Kenny has built here is a good foundation for a few years time. And just because we lost a few games doesn't mean anything to be honest. League games don't matter to us anymore, Kenny is trying something new here and rightly so. Hopefully we see more new players next season from the academy rather than from other team.

Also the loss today was quite disturbing, not because we lost to a team near the bottom, but because of the attitude of the players on the pitch.

Honestly Kenny has to go now. He has bought too many average players like Adam Henderson, Carroll & Downing. Its time John W Henry did the right thing, load the gun and pull the trigger. In addition to say tiredness was the issue is a complete joke, no Kenny the players you brought in are not good enough and your tactics or lack of them are so inept. I am sorry but its time for a change of manager.

And it wasnt rafa's tht won the champs league most of tht team was houlliers he was just the manager
mrbrown

Always blame the manager isn't it?
You people never cease to amaze me.

Except when the manager actually IS crap -like Roy Bodgson.

Id rather we'd had Rafa back than Kenny. BUT with no net spend( wage cuts funding a modest transfer spend), no top, modern manager would consider us.

Sell Reina due to poor performances?
You've gotta be a Manc windup merchant.
Or someone from NESV with £ signs in his eyes, looking to make money...

Dont tell me, Soccernomics have found a wonderful new keeper for 200k from Crewe...! : rolleyes:

If it would have been roy, he'd have been sacked long ago. april on the corner and only 2 league games won and still the manager is in charge. Either we are dumb or Kenny is bigger than the club. Terrible to see my beloved Liverpool loosing almost every game we play. Gutted. :(

@mrbrown
Well without Rafa's buys of Alonso and Garcia, we never would have won the CL in 2005. And just the manager? Yeah he just did nothing and let the team, right?

I was at the match today and we were awful! No one looked interested at all. They have all obviously got one eye on the FA cup semi final.

It reminded me of the Wolves game under Roy Hodgson.

Stirling looked good for the 7 or so minutes he played. Could be one for the future if he has the right attitude.

Roll on the end of the season when the transfer roundabout gets going. We need to bring players in and get rid of some.

I don't think it's reina is responsible for the goals conceded recently

I think many people are right the first departure at the end of the season should be KK he has shown himself to be tactically inept to manage a great football club such as ours in the modern day. i think we should pull the stops out for Dechamps or Klopp as these 2 are young and play tactically great football, Our players seem to lack any understanding on how to pass the ball to 1 and other. I f this carries on we will finish bottom half of the table and then KK will be made to be the villian that turned our club into a laughing stock of the EPL

24 Mar 2012 13:54:39
Eds,
If we sign Pablo Armro who is a left winge, do you think no right wingers (Ramirez, Marin, Tello) will be arriving? {Ed002's Note - I expect that a right winger will arrive.}

24 Mar 2012 12:31:48
So liverpool are watching 2 porto players no idea who they are maybe moutinho and Rodriguez -mihir {Ed002's Note - There is nothing to suggest Liverpool interest in Moutinho and Cristian Rodriguez will move to Gremio.}

Think he means James Rodriguez.

And it's 1 random twitter comment stating we are watching 2 porto playets anf 1 bilbao!! which now people are ccertain we are trying to sign them.

Don't think people understand that man many players are watched and you don't sign them all {Ed002's Note - Ah, Twitter.}

24 Mar 2012 12:29:48
Raheem Sterling on the bench today

Spud

24 Mar 2012 12:27:41
Hi ed/s.

Anything on Moutinho, or some players from Porto? Moutinho is a player that we could do with, makes things happen! {Ed002's Note - It is simply a random name - so nothing.}

We said that about meireles aswell, he wasnt the creative spark we needed was he?

24 Mar 2012 11:57:48
Hey ed, how serious is our interest in armero and rossi? Why da f**k r we scouting a left back? I hope the club doesnt destroy robinson's career this way. The lad is special.
Indian Buzzer {Ed001's Note - Armero can also play left wing, it is not to block Robinson, but to strengthen the club's options. Though I would prefer to give one of our youngsters a chance myself. The interest in Rossi is dependent on his injury.}

24 Mar 2012 11:21:22
ed is Giuseppe Rossi up for sale for 13 million?
cheers, Josh {Ed001's Note - I have no idea of the prices set, but Villareal players are all available for the right price. They have no choice right now.}

24 Mar 2012 11:33:45
Sterling is with the first team today..
May be on the bench, not 100 percent sure yet.
Not gone with the Next Gen team

Springer

24 Mar 2012 07:07:41
hey eds did we sign sam magri from portsmouth? RED INDIAN {Ed002's Note - Yes but he is staying there until the summer.}

Clubs could not agree the fee with Portsmouth so Sam Magri is still a portsmouth player

24 Mar 2012 03:28:13
hi eds, nly second post, was wonderin if there is substantial interest from spurs in raheem sterlinng? I could not imagine the owners lettin probably our best youth player go, considering their rebuilding young policy?? {Ed002's Note - We have no idea.}

Its more personal reasons for him wanting a return to london! although his head has been turned!

Spurs get linked with every big name/up and coming talent that people notice, hardly ever comes to anything just good to fill up the back pages, they were signing ganso not so long ago

You cant base what people say re papers or web sites that being the case liverpool would also be buying hazrd, marin, eriksrn, higuien, salgado etc etc.. their is substance regarding sterling....too many people are coming out reporting roughly the same storey

Cant blame him for wanting to move to spurs...he obviously has ambitions for the future

24 Mar 2012 02:27:19
I'm thinking we are 3 quality signings away from top 4 i think we need a striker maybe a young one like De Jong. I also think we need a quality winger like marin or affely tello id love for hazard to come but even with joe cole i dont think we are even close to getting him. lastly i think a centre mid either attacking minded or defensive minded. If we could get either erikssen or M'vila id be pumped. so do you mind telling me what the deal is with a few of these players thanks eds appreciate it! {Ed002's Note - Try the search function - they have all been dealt with.}

Unbelievable to say the least! affelay? mvia? de jong? hazard? not a chance any of these will be joining, be realistic and realise were not even a top 5 club anymore and player attraction will be reflected by this. no chance of competeing with chelsea, man city and utd for these players, never mind europes top clubs. we have to accept weve dropped down the pecking order now. Also kenny blew more than 100 mil already and i just dont think he is gonna get any more serious investment to buy the best players, only option is to sell but then we will look stupid cos we wont recoup our money on the big money players like carrol and henderson. i can see that we will make do with what we have and will rely on some young players to make an impact and get us back to top 4 where we can start getting big names again.

Agree 100% - Kenny has got his money and blown it an average players so dont expect to see any players of the quality mentioned in any way interested in joining us. Kenny will buy more average english players at inflated prices again in summer while the top 4 will snap up the real talent

23 Mar 2012 23:04:38
Please eds, is this Pablo Armero rumour true? I hear he plays both as left back, left wing back, and left winger and he'll be available for as little as 6 million. There's even news that talks have begun, and my Colombian friend told me its all over the news in Colombia. How true is this, and how much do you rate this guy?

LFC-823 {Ed002's Note - I am not sure about talks with Liverpool just yet but certainly he expected to move in the summer - AC Milan were favourites.}

24 Mar 2012 04:01:25
What is the position of gaston ramirez transfer saga?

24 Mar 2012 00:23:34
Ed do we have a chance to sign tello {Ed001's Note - I doubt he will leave Barca, but, if he does, we do have the advantage of Segura and Borell.}

24 Mar 2012 00:10:44
Eds,
Do you know if raheem sterling has travelled with the U19 squad to london for the nextgen 3rd/ 4rd playoff?
Otherwise i expect him to be in the squad for tomorrows BPL game v Wigan.? {Ed001's Note - I believe he is playing in the NextGen.}

23 Mar 2012 22:38:04
Hi eds you guys know any interest in renato augusto?

Cheers
Jman {Ed001's Note - not from us I don't.}

I thought you said a while back (1 or 2 months ago) we did a year or two back and we have just a teensy bit of interest in him that will succumb to nothing {Ed002's Note - It was back in January 2009 that Liverpool first looked.}

24 Mar 2012 00:02:57
We are looking at Bent and Hoilett at the minute not sure if they are gonna improve us too much though.

If we sign those two we're having another league season like this one.

AGree with the reply. Bent would once again be the waste of money and Hoilett, I'm not too sure. he is good but there are better options there. YNWA

For the last time Marcus Bent will not be joining us -.-.
