there is some briiliant talent coming outa your country if the world cup was in europe next year you would be dark horses to win it imo. don't know much ab out that lad but i'm sure Liverpool scouts r keeping a good eye on this market. Tommy Irish Red

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool had someone watching Praet in the Champions League game between Anderlecht and Zenit Saint Petersburg earlier in the season and a number of other clubs have had scouts take a look at the player. Ajax and AC Milan have declared an interest in the player with Anderlecht.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He's signing for Lazio

Thnx guys and idd Belgium has a great future

Rafa first signing to be lucas is the rumour if we get decent fee for him in think it would be a blessing in disguise might get a strong holding midfielder with no injuries it'd be grate

Believable26 Unbelievable79

What do u mean with no injuries Lucas had been injury free up till he had 2 bad ones. would not say he is injury prone.
IRISHRED1995

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas is a beast we need to keep and add Diame or some one like him, cheap release clause too, imagine him and Lucas with gezza more central spraying the balls, continho, sturidge, saurez up front, Naughty if you ask me. Red Smoke.

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance, we have no decent cover and our defensive areas are weakest. Rodgers has continually said Lucas is key to his plans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gased he is not leaving he is a key aspect to Liverpool fc if they want to go high

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas has the 2nd highest tackle success rate in the PL playing 10 less games, it would be very bad losing him

Rafa should leave our players alone and have some respect

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would want to sell a future Captain, that would be nuts

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas is decent, but any bid around £10m or over should be considered imo. We could do with someone whos positionally better and has more of a presence i. e. Wanyama, Bender etc. He's by no means captain material? He's not a leader, neither is he vocal enough. Credit to him how he's proved fans wrong by improving but let's not get carried away.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas isn't injury prone as he has ONLY been out with serious injuries (the second caused by the first).

Lucas is the best DM outside Javi Martinez and Sergio Busquets. Believe it!

and if Lucas leaves Gerrard's ability to play in this system will again be questioned.

Agree0 Disagree0

Future Captain?
No wonder we are languishing in 7th.
The guy may have his uses, but he gets a nose bleed when he gets near the opposition goal and can't make a forward pass to save his life.
Is just shows how low footballing standards have gone when a mediocre player like him is touted as a future leader of our once mighty club.
Sad days indeed

5uarezTimes

Ps: Next people will be saying shelvey is the next Stevie G

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not against this. I wonder if Papa would make a great DM. He's got a lot more aggresivity and plays the game like Mascherano.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas is a future captain of the club and would be hard to replace as shown when he was out injured. People go on about Diame but for much of the season he was injured and to be honest he is an awful holding player when it comes to actually defending

Agree0 Disagree0

We as fans are notorious for OVER-valueing out players. Shelvey is not nor ever will be a replacement for Gerrard. Lucas is not in the top 8 DM's in the world let alone top 3. Just to name a few Martinez, De Rossi, Busquets (though I hate him as a diver/player), Vidal, Bender (both), Khedira, Carrick, Gustavo, Gonalons.

If the sale of Lucas could bring us Gonalons, Bender, or Gustavo then I am all for it.

And stop slating Rafa for paper talk. Even if he is interested in and LFC player its flattering and it would still be up to LFC to only sell for a price that they deem appropriate. Its not like we will give away Lucas for 50% value just because its Rafa making the bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

We must not let him go - We are so much stronger with him in the team and he does an awful lot of 'un-noticed' work, allowing other players to play.

In my view, the most consistent player over the past 3 seasons - never let's us down.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas is decent gents. He gets us fired up and he plays with true spirit and determination, he got injured making some big tackles and he'd do it again! He's better than you think and without him we would be weaker for sure! Bmouth red

Agree0 Disagree0

For me Lucas has been poor this season, but that's down to injury. Yes he has a high tackle count but he also gives a hell of a lot of free kicks away in dangerous positions for no reason. If he gets back to how he was pre injury then he will be vital but my worry is he won't. Should be given a chance though. Michael

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas is a brilliant player, very loyal and a great getter of the ball, keeps the ball well ect, he gives away too many fouls though that's my only concern, get of his back and support him as he won't be going any were,

intitiwetrust

Agree0 Disagree0

Take the money

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas is not a brilliant player. If we had a brilliant player in his position we'd be far stronger in our attempt to make the top 4. This needs to be addressed. Lucas is a poor passer and a passenger when Liverpool are moving forward with the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

Napoli are looking for a ""sexier" signing. Sounds silly but that's direct quote from a club exec. I doubt that signing will be Lucas.

Nevada

Agree0 Disagree0

US Army red.

Neither bender is that good IMO, Carrick isn't a defensive midfielder more a deep lying playmaker, Jones plays that role. Khedira is quite honestly not good at the defensive duties. Vidal and martinez better than lucas IMO. the rest on a par.
I wonder what the stats would say though

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell lucas, are you serious?
Ive seen some ridicolous post lately, but to say that is going to be a blessing to loose lucas, then u obviously is no Liverpool supporter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it true that Chelsea still owe us £15million for Torres, due to be paid this summer. Will that money go on transfers or will Liverpool look to bring him back.

Also if it's true could Chelsea be interested in doing a deal for Lukaku. With Chelsea expected to spend big this summer and a couple of strikers he might not get 1st football, so he might be open to a move. {Ed002's Note - There is no money owed for Torres and Lukaku will not be sold to Liverpool.}

Believable2 Unbelievable40

I think your getting your wires crossed. It's us that owes THEM a world class striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

No money owed

Agree0 Disagree0

It was just something I read on a web site, and I thought I would ask.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't worry mate. No worries

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 19:42:23
HA Ah man! Whoever posted 'we owe them a striker' fair play mate. Nice 1

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you guy's noticed a lot of players who come to Liverpool end up becoming world class. Ala Suarez, Agger, Lucas, Sturridge?, Reina, Coutiho, Alonso, Mach, Torres2years ago. Maybe there's something in the water?
Here's hoping the same for Eriksen ect

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sure it was on Friday Night Live a few weeks ago that Chelsea do still owe 15 million for FT to be paid this summer. It was touted around that they could try and send him back to us to settle the debt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok its time to be honest. I like Lucas and Agger but they are nowhere near world class. At this point neither is Sturridge or Coutinho (although he certainly has the potential to be). To copete for a title Agger cannot be our best defender. He doesn't lead the line, still gets caught out of position too often, and isn't even competent in the air or defending set pieces. He is a good defender but not great and needs to be paired with a power house/leader type who can cover for him when he goes forward or gets caught out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas last year before he got injured was world class. nothing got past him and was in top 5 holding midfielders in the world and still only 26. Next season 100% you will see him at his best again.
Coutinho is world class now as we have seen no question and pacy Sturridge will be if he carries on the same next season. You saw how he took apart the chelski defence. As for Agger he would'nt look out of place in Real or Barca would he? Suso, Sterling, Kelly, Tiexera, Coedy, Wisdom, Loyd Jones and Ibe could be the next big things.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people have different ideas of what world class is, yes coutinho is fantastic, but if he is world class what are players like messi, ronaldo, falcao, rvp, suarez. etc. he's clearly not as good as what they are yet.

I've heard a little whisper that Rafinha on a season long loan might a possibility.

Believable3 Unbelievable59

He's a right back so I extremely doubt it as we have Johnson, Kelly, Wisdom and young McLaughlin.

Agree0 Disagree0

Which Rafinha, the bayern one or the barca one (thiago alcantara brother)?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 16:00:26
If true it would only be a loan and not an option to buy afterwards. Isn't he quoted to be over £30M?

Agree0 Disagree0

Johnson might be going though (real madrid are after him) so it may be true

intitiwetrust

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the Barcelona B midfielder Rafael Alacantara.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 17:20:23
Isn't 'little whisper' what his nickname means? :o)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a chance

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't mind it but don't think they would. he'd be a good back-up to Coutinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Be a good mate for Coutinho to have, I know Lucas is here but he isn't exactly 20.

Any truth in the aly cissokho rumours? Would love to see him at left back!

Believable5 Unbelievable42

Would you.

He has just had a terrible season.

He will NEVER amount to a top Full Back.

Ben

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 15:29:09
His name comes up every year. All he has is his running and strength.

Enrique is almost as strong, quick and much better with the ball at his feet. I'm not saying we should keep with Enrique, but Cissokho would be a downgrade IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed. Neither he nor Coentrao have the minerals. Digne would be great back up to pressurise Enrique though. so hopefully that comes off. Robbo still a year or two away from regular PL football.

-Nibbits

Agree0 Disagree0

I've been watching Cissokho since he played at Porto. And he wasn't that great then tbh. He was fast, poor defensively, he has no positional sense and he's not the best tackler.

I suppose his speed helps him going forward, but he has no end product, no final delivery. Enrique is better IMO and I'd prefer te current Porto LB. seems a little more reliable all over the park to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Digne, shaw, or how bout this crazy trade 35m + alaba for Suarez.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 12:10:05
Ed, could you tell me, are Liverpool actvely trying to replace Reina? or are they just making sure a replacement is lined up should he leave? and I suppose the obvious other question is, is he actively looking to move?
RNred {Ed001's Note - he is interested in the Barca move and so we are preparing in case. Nothing is done yet though, either way.}

Believable20 Unbelievable6

Reina has been average for 3 season.

Dont let stats fool you.

Our defence needs changing, starting with him.

Vorm is most likely not even been considered.

You all think you know, but all your views are driven by programers.

Begovic is by far the best keeper in the league.

Best in the world, he will earn the tag.

Ben

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds what was his interview about then? I don't get why he said he was happy if he wants to move? Was it to make sure his price don't go down or just out of respect? {Ed001's Note - being interested and making a move are 2 different things. If it doesn't happen he hasn't burnt his bridges and can stay. It is not so much about wanting to leave any way, but about liking the idea of a move to Barca and the chance of becoming Spain's no 1.}

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 12:00:05
Coentrao talking about leaving Madrid says he won't rule anybody out. any chance eds or too expensive? {Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry, we haven't shown any interest prior to this plea for a move, but I don't know if he was just seen as out of reach.}

Believable3 Unbelievable22

Oh I truly hope so but alas I fear he will go to a CL team :- (

Agree0 Disagree0

Going to Chelsea with Mourinho

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 11:10:51
Morning Eds, quick question concerning our DM posistion. Do you expect us to make a move towards a big DM that could boss the midfield (A Diamé/Wanyama type player) and give Lucas competition if we have funds left over?

Cheers, Saleh {Ed001's Note - no, I don't, not this summer.}

Believable15 Unbelievable14

24 May 2013 15:08:43
Yes we will definetley move for that type of player, I would love Wanyama. Lucas isn't and will never be good enough, people walk past him with ease and he's so clumsy, saying that he would make a good back up, he's good lad and hard working, can't fault his effort and he has Improved but don't think he offers enough and is sometimes a liability.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 18:59:27
That would be a mistake. We need a player with more presence defending our back four.

Agree0 Disagree0

What happens if Lucas gets injured again?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 11:05:59
Just keep an eye on Iago Aspas rumours. I haven't recieved any info, but there could be something in it. I would say it was more unlikely than likely though.

Believable27 Unbelievable23

What a pointless statement. You certainly are covering all angles there. You have not received any information? Judging my this you certainly have not.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard a rumour you were leaving. is this true?

Agree0 Disagree0

So it could happen. then again, it could not? Cheers Jonjo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Based on what?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes going to Atlectico

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 10:18:55
Read a few rumours that we might be interested in Lucas Piazon from Chelsea this summer, certainly falls in the bracket of wide forward. Not seen much of him to judge however. Also with interest in Aspas would we still look to Ince or does it look unlikely we will be back in for Ince?

Believable11 Unbelievable39

Stick with Suso. Piazon and Suso are too similar and their the same age.

I do think we should try to loan Suso out to Malaga though, with Isco looking like he might leave and Piazon not playing on loan there next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 10:01:47
Ashley Williams is off to Arsenal! Thank God.

Believable79 Unbelievable10

You think just because he plays for a mid table team that he's a bad player.

He is one of the main reasons they won the carling cup, and up until that point he was easily in the top 5 CB's in the league. Actually a lot like Carragher with the way he threw his body at anything, always popped up with a tackle and headed away crosses constantly.

I think the fact that Liverpool were linked with him proves that, and now the fact that Arsenal are. or do u know more than all them scouts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this true? if so halleluja

i hope scott sinclair moves to villa or westham or something soon to.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 11:20:42
Thank you God. Amen

Agree0 Disagree0

At no point was Williams in the Top 5 defenders at PL. He is a decent defender, but nothing more. He is not like Carragher, Carra was great at reading the game, Williams was not that great at it.

The real AG

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually think that Liverpool fans don't want him because of what he said about Luis. apart from that a good player. Its different playing for Swansea though. Make the step up to Liverpool and you can get found out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good defender but has fallen down the pecking order of targets due to his lack of technique. Papa Dop looks immense compared to Williams.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fantastic, our scouts etc saw the light

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not even the best centre half at Swansea and he is crippingly one footed. At 12m? No thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 15:33:49
He is not that good at all. Solid, but naff on the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

Typical Wenger signing. Great news we haven't got him

Agree0 Disagree0

12m + 29 in a few months, no thanks.
one footed + one paced (slow)

Agree0 Disagree0

"I think the fact that Liverpool were linked with him proves that, and now the fact that Arsenal are. or do u know more than all them scouts. "

That's right because our scouts always get it bang on the money.

Adam, Aquillani, Babel, Carroll, Cheyrou, Degen, Diao, Dicks, Diomede, Diouf, Dossena, Dundee, Enrique, Ferri, Josemi, Kromkamp, Leonhardsen, Meier, Nunez, Paletta, Piechnik, Voronin. We could be here some time mulling over players our scouting network dropped a bollock over. Had we signed Williams, he would have been in very good company amongst that
lot. Wenger's midas touch has been replaced by the mizer's touch, too tight to go balls out after top players. John Henry is probably awoken most nights by his wet dream yearnings for Arsene.

Agree0 Disagree0

Linked with him in the press - not in the real world as far as I know. Not an obvious choice to take us forward imho - money could be invested elsewhere to better effect.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 09:57:12
Morning Eds, have seen that Jonjo Shelvey could be targeted by West Ham. With him being a Hammers fan, could we see him potentially move permanently or does Rodgers want to send him out on loan?

T. {Ed002's Note - If he leaves it will be permanent I would think.}

Believable39 Unbelievable10

No worries
nice lad but no end product

Agree0 Disagree0

Wasn't it West Ham United fans calling him Voldemort at an under-21s game? I can't say I'd be too surprised if he did move to Slytherin ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope its permanent, its not like he is going to become a faster player or anything, as slow as a turtle. fits well with andy carroll

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree he's got talent but I just can't see him stepping up next season for a first team berth. we have a lot of players in his position, I think now would be a good time to sell him.

intitiwetrust

Agree0 Disagree0

We live in hope he has in most cases failed to impress. Look brilliant at Charlton as a youngster but has not made the grade further up the food chain.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh, bit of a sad one this as he looked like he was going to be awesome. Doesn't have the technique needed for the fast passing movements BR wants to instill, but will flourish elsewhere with his directness and power. Great professionalism for someone that young too so good luck to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Any idea why he has so massively fallen out of favour as earlier in the season Rodgers really seemed to rate him?

Agree0 Disagree0

When I first saw him he looked to be the player they would try and replace SG with - but I always thought he had a chip on his shoulder.
Remember the documentary at the start of the season, BR pulled him to one side and said your going to be a big player for us this season.
I suspect he was one of the three in the envelopes.

Agree0 Disagree0

He and Carroll should do well

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2013 16:21:12
Hi Ed002,
can you please tell me if you`ve heard anything about Papadopoulos as I read that the deal between Schalke and Dortmund had already been agreed. Is Liverpool interested in the player? Is he going to Borussia D.? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Manchester City and Chelsea have already been in talks over the player. Other clubs are interested, probably including Dortmund and Liverpool, but he will not be cheap. Chelsea were surprised how high the asking price is - which given his injury problems makes them nervous.}

Believable25 Unbelievable7

There's no way you can leave Schalke for Dortmund - imagine Barca players heading for Real or otherwise round :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Well santana has left dortmund to go to schalke so just proves your point wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

I realy wish everyone would stop going on about players that we are most definitely not getting! papadopolous is a young world class defender, just look at the clubs interested and explain to me why he would play for us? if i'm wrong and we do sign him I will gladly apologise but let's be hugely realistic and admit defeat on this one. we can't attract these players while were still. well let's face it an average side!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 May 2013 10:53:30
Hey ed002! The Daily Mirror is reporting that we're about to complete the transfer of Iago Aspas of Celta Vigo, do you know if there's any truth in that rumour? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note -It would be a bit of an odd move in my view. It is hard to see what he would bring to the side.}

Believable11 Unbelievable24

Ed he can play anywhere in the front 4 but is especially effective cutting in off the right wing so could provide competition for Downing and is looking likely he would be cheaper and better than Ince now. Scored/assisted well in a relegation side.

Agree0 Disagree0

What you mean bring to the side ed. This guy chases defenders down like a dog with rabies. Imagine him and Suarez not giving defenders a second on the ball. Has 6 assists and 11 goals I think with a team that got relegated while playing up top on his own. Its easy to see what he will bring especially at the price being quoted.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've actually seen him play and he is very tricky with pace and a lot like Louis Suarez (100% commited every second and always on the edge) likes to play mostly on the right but can play anywhere in the front line.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed, always appreciated. Have not seen a lot of him myself. But you don't reckon is good enough yeah? Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I am not convinced he would be a starter at all.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I would think Aspos would bring with him pace, passion, goals, trickery, a will to win and probably a great looking girlfriend. what do you reckon Eds 02?

Justice4Jari {Ed002's Note - His wife will be annoyed if he does.}

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 08:59:05
Lucas Piazon rumors. Rubbish I'm guessing?

Believable5 Unbelievable29

24 May 2013 08:38:27
Have a mate how is normally bang on with Spurs info.

Reckons Spurs have had a fee agreed for Tom Ince.

Hope not.

Believable27 Unbelievable15

Who carse now, we have IBE and Sterling.

intitiwetrust

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 10:50:30
Why do you hope not?
We will get 35% of any transfer fee mate, this is a fact!
Also I doubt that because he wants to play week in week out and he wouldn't be a starter at spurs ahead of bale! If not spurs are selling bale and replacing him with ince which actually be fantastic news if you ask me!

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs are always in for players we're linked with :/

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not? good news if true.

we will get 35% of any transfer fee mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Ibe is way better as well as suso ans Raheem. We don't need him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally, I rate him. Not questioning at talent of Ibe or Sterling, but I think 18 goals and 14 assists is worth a look. His is young, classed as home grown, and england u21 capped. I understand the difference in opponent level between Championship and Premier, but this lad got more than twice the amount of goals and assists and Downing and Henderson put together last season. Surely that fact that we could buy him for 35% less than anyone else, is a positive?
In answer to the replacing Bale comment, I would guess Spurs are interested in him as cover for Lennon who is injured a fair bit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Once is massively over rated, I for one hope he goes anywhere but Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's 33. 3% of the transfer fee going to Liverpool and BR's transfer budget!

Agree0 Disagree0

If he goes? He goes as back up and the payments will be in installments, so the money we receive will only filter through

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should swap reina for Valdez and spend aii of our money on two players, Lewendowski and Alaba!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 08:28:34
To the Eds or other informed posters,

A while back we were apparently tracking Matty Phillips. Did we decide against him, or is he still being monitored/considered. Is it just that they have decided Ince is a better prospect? I won't pretend to have seen much of him this season so don't know how he has performed.

Thanks

Tommy Walsh {Ed001's Note - he had a poor season, injuries and loss of form, he regressed and so we lost interest for now.}
