Any update on lallana seems to have gone quiet

Believable12 Unbelievable16

According to a newspaper, Southampton are demanding we increase our £20million bid and I would expect us to do so if he is our top target as reported.
Hopefully it should be wrapped up before the World cup where his value could rocket up.

Agree3 Disagree0

Eds is there some legal thing on naming publications as advertising?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Do you go on their websites and debate what's said on here? Newspapers print stories to make money from sales and website hits, we don't make money and we don't hit-whore for the site.}

The Liverpool echo is reporting that Bournemouth are entitled to 25% of lallanas fee and for this reason Liverpool will need to up their bid as Southampton are looking to bag around 20mill themselves AFTER Bournemouth get their 25% cut. The echo also states Southampton are looking to hold onto him until after the World Cup in the hope of his market value increasing further.

I don't know how true this Is but I'd classify the echo as a fairly reliable source.

Agree3 Disagree0

Echo are stating we have upped our bid to 20m and are awaiting a response.

Agree1 Disagree0

Relax, the transfer window doesn't even officially open until July 1st.

Agree0 Disagree0

Give em 22.5 and be done with it
Half the bournemouth cash

Agree0 Disagree0

Lallana will wait to see all options and will not rush any transfer

Agree0 Disagree0

If it's true about the 25% belonging to Bournemouth and Southampton wanting £20 million for themselves, we would have to bid £26.7 million. That in my opinion is too high for Lallana.

Ed002, you stated that we've been looking at (presumably Benfica's) Cancelo. I know we hold an interest in Rojo, Bertrand and Erkin for LB, but have we been looking at any other right backs? Thanks in advance.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Cancelo would not be first team material yet - this is one for the future.}

Cheers Ed, and have we been looking at any other potential RBs?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware and certainly not a priority.}

Thanks

Hi eds

Is there any truth in the Brannagan to Barcelona rumours?

Thanks

Believable7 Unbelievable26

{Ed002's Note - I don't know.}

24 May 2014 17:59:53
If it is true, maybe a deal for Tello could be sorted?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool was amongst a number of clubs who enquired after Tello in January but Barcelona said he would not be moving in January but may move on in the summer if the circumstances are right. I would expect Liverpool and Milan to enquire further whilst Porto, who have spoken recently with Barcelona, have to decide whether to make a bid. Real Sociedad and Barcelona have discussed a one year loan deal with an option to buy.}

Hi eds bar tello do we hold any interest in the players aboutoto leave barca
Leave out pedro as you may be sick of hearing hisname

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Maybe they will offer some in exchange?}

24 May 2014 08:47:53
Morning eds. You guys are doing a great job. I read this morning that Emre Can's buyout clause can't be activated until 2015 and the club lawyers have said we can sign him now without interference from Bayern Munich. Do you know if this is correct? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Believable6 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - That is not what Bayern Munich say to be that case. I am also sure that there would be major trouble coming for Liverpool if the club has somehow obtained copies of the player and inter-club contracts and provided them to a third party. I can guarantee that would be an immediate referral to UEFA and, possibly, the German police.}

So how did Arsenal get wind of the now infamous £40m and a pound thing last Summer?

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Suarez's representatives told them. Suarez wanted to leave, remember? He did not want to go to Arsenal but would have done to get out of Liverpool.}

Maybe My Hypia has an influence in such a decision. You never know.

Agree2 Disagree1

So could Can's agent not assist, shall we say, if his client was interested in a move to Liverpool?

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Obviously if he has provided these confidential documents to Liverpool and then Liverpool have provided them to their lawyers then both Liverpool and the agent will be in all sorts of problems. I would be truly astonished if any of this were the case.}

Tony Barrett of The Times newspaper tweeted last night that "Liverpool have made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Emre Can & appear to be closing in on a £12m deal for the Germany U-21 international"

Who knows what is really going on!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is no way TB would endorse anything illegal as is being suggested by whatever the poster has read - I would be interested in knowing what that is.}

Of course ed, we all know that footballer's agents / representatives would never dream of doing anything other than acting in the best interests of their client.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot think of one that would pass on copies of the contracts between two other clubs and between a club and a player. They would no doubt lose their license and would be subject to prosecution.}

Ed would we have to ask bayern to let a deal go though or do they not won't to give up the right to buy him back thanks

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool does not have a contract with Bayern, so that would be the responsibility of Bayer Leverkusen.}

24 May 2014 10:45:59
I would think the agent would have probably let it slip to Liverpool. So he would be in trouble and not Liverpool. I would think!

YNWA

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You cannot let slip confidential documents as Adrianp reports that Liverpool's lawyers have been examining them. If that is the case, Liverpool are in very serious trouble indeed. I cannot imagine it is true.}

Out of curiosity, when Suarez's agent divulged the details of his contract with LFC to Arsenal, did LFC do anything? Would it have been in LFC right to say complain?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - No, it would not be uncommon for that to happen. What is being suggested here is significantly different to that.}

So let me get this right, for us to sign, assuming we bid high enough we need Bayern to give the go ahead and waive the 2 year breakpoint in his current contract? Probably wanting some form of compensation for doing so?

Thanks Eds,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The first sentence is correct.}

The daily mirror reporter must be very wrong. i'm sure the club will do everything by the book.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - A couple of other posters have said that the "rumour" about the lawyers and the club having access to the contracts comes from a website called Koptalk and not from the press.}

Yet again editors ................

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You haven't read what was written. Try not to be a glifnard.

Ed, please tell me if I'm being an person, and I don't know anymore than I've read in this post but could/would it be the case that Liverpool have made an enquiry about the player and both teams who have an interest have openly told Liverpool the terms and circumstances of the players contract?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Bayer Leverkusen have made it clear that they are aware of interest from a couple of clubs but no offers have been made.}

24 May 2014 15:03:35
So, to clarify Ed002, is a player's contract confidential and only accessible to the player (& agent) and their club? In this case however Bayern Munich are involved also so they have access to the contract also? And therefore any other club or party with a copy of a player's contract is in breach of a particular law?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot see anyway that Liverpool has access to these contracts to allow the "lawyers" to review them. Perhaps someone should ask Koptalk where they have gotten this information from.?}

To be fair to the op, he doesn't actually state it's Liverpool's lawyers that have said this. could he not mean leverkusen's lawyers?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It has been stated elsewhere and confirmed that it comes from a site called Koptalk.}

24 May 2014 08:24:15
From what it sounds Rojo is the man to bring in for the LB/LCB. Haven't seen all that much of him play, but is earning rave reviews around the globe. Even The eds agree it would be a fantastic signing if we can bring him in. Hopefully he impresses again in the World Cup.
Since the interest from LFC is 'real', do you think there is a good chance we can snare him? Would Sporting be willing to let him leave if an acceptable offer came? And would this spell an exit for Jose Enrique?
Just a few questions I would like to get clarified, along with some other reds itching about the deal.
Cheers, Eds.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Sporting Lisbon's Rojo is a player Liverpool have been looking and are interested in but at the price Sporting have placed on the player, and with the interest of others, not least Barcelona, it might be a difficult task for the club to bring him in. This may well be the reason that Liverpool have rekindled interest in another left back - we will see.}

24 May 2014 09:09:23
Bertrand I suppose?

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

Betrand and Brad Smith coming through would be fine and dandy with me.
Chelsea are letting some good players go (getting some good ones too). I really do think he could fit great into our play. I think it'll definitely happen, this one.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 May 2014 10:41:32
Haven't seen much of him play, but sign him anyway?
Ha ha ha ha ha, oh deary deary me.
Because his name sounds cool?

Agree0 Disagree0

that's no what he said.

Anyway, I'd rather have Smith who's younger, already knows the Liverpool way and is free than pay for Bertrand.

24 May 2014 10:47:22
Hey eds would you think its possible we are looking to have bertrand and enrique fighting for the Lb spot next season.? Or is it more likely enrique will be moved on.?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is far too early to opine on this.}

Good morning Eds and Reds

Ive been reading that Tony Barrett from the times has reported that Lfc have made a breakthrough in the pursuit to sign Emre Can and a deal moves a step closer with Bayern not taking up there situation. I also read yesterday Ed saying we have interest but its very unlikely we will get him because of Bayern.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are interested in the player, as were Roma, but a move for Emre Can seems very unlikely given he only joined Leverkusen last summer on a four year deal that has a break point after two years when Bayern Munich can buy him back.

If Liverpool were to make an offer (which they haven't) and that offer was acceptable to Leverkusen they would need to contact Bayern Munich. If they are willing to release the player from the contractual agreement between the clubs then a deal will be possible.}

Thanks Ed

Surely an offer will be tabled at some point and Lfc must feel a deal can be done else why would we be wasting our time. Have Bayern comented yet on what they will want to do or not?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Bayer Leverkusen have stated they are aware of interest and would sell for a good profit. They have also said there has been no offer and they would need to speak with Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich have said the matter needs to be referred to them.}

Thanks Ed

Seems complicated but very possible a deal can be done then. As long as we put the right offer in to Leverkusen.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a matter of interest, without wanting to know the figures, is there a set price at which bayern can buy him back at?

So even if Liverpool were offering a better profit to Leverkusen, they still have to accept the figure agreed with bayern.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, there is a fixed price that Bayern Munich may buy the player for at the end of the 2014/15 season. That is the contract that is in place.}

24 May 2014 05:51:42
The following players are of confirmed interest from LFC.

Defenders: Dejan Lovren, Hector Moreno, Ryan Bertrand, Marcos Rojo.

Midfielders: Will Hughes, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Roberto Firmino (watched but unlikely), Ivan Rakitic (if available at the right price), Dani Parejo.

Forwards: Cristian Tello, Viktor Fischer, Juan Guilermo Cuadrado, Alexandre Lacazette, Heung-Min Son.

Anything else Ed002?

Please stop asking the same questions to the editors over and over again.

Believable3 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - There have been several others looked at over recent months such as right back Cancelo, left back Erkin, Shaqiri, Tadic, obviously Konoplyanka, perhaps Hinteregger. And there will be others I don't know of or have forgotten about.}

Thanks AG, unfortunately doesn't stop people picking a random name usually!

You should pin something like this at the top of the page.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is a summary of what has been said - you need to read the posts because it will change. Pinning it to the top will simply attract more questions, and certainly more abuse.}

Ah yeah I always read everything and knew about all of those except Cancelo. Just thought it might save you from lazy questions but I'm sure y'all know best.

I think Can is close now, player is keen, although his clubs aren't but I think he will force a move.

I have less confidence in our other reported targets. The longer Lallana drags on the less likely it is we will get him.

Can't understand why we were prepared to pay a premium for konoplyanka in Jan but seem to have lost interest now when he is available (and apparently keen to join us) for significantly less.

Bertrand is not an improvement on Flanno.

Caulker isn't an improvement on our current centre backs.

Lovren would be a good buy but can see us being frozen out by Southampton slapping on an inflated price.

We also need a forward to interchange with SAS but Sanchez and Pedro will be way above our budget.

Believable10 Unbelievable8

"Can't understand why we were prepared to pay a premium for konoplyanka in Jan but seem to have lost interest now when he is available (and apparently keen to join us) for significantly less."

Principle mate. None of us know what really happened.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we sold Aspas and Borini to raise funds, and got in Pedro, I think it would be in everyone's interests. Pedro would get more playing time, and play a more significant role, than the current incumbents in my view.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep Borini, yes sell Aspas but keep Borini.

And I 100% agree Bertrand is not an improvement. City's first goal against villa was from zabaleta down the wing and he wasn't tracked - that was about the fourth time he had burst so far forward and Bertrand still wasn't watching him. Anyone saying the winger should have then I agree initially but when zabaleta kept pushing forward further than his own winger then it's up to Bertrand to take control and stop him. Also why wasn't Bertrand screaming for help with zabaleta, he clearly needed it.

Agree1 Disagree0

Bertrand is so poor it`s hilarious.

Seeing as Liverpool need a left back, any interest In Ali Adnan? He seems like a quick and physical player. Any info would be nice. Thank you

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - the only interest I know of in him is from Sevilla, as a potential replacement for Moreno, and Milan. I would guess he would have a lot of difficulty getting a work permit to play in England.}

24 May 2014 03:18:12
From the sources I have.

Bertrand And Rojo are the left back choices for next year Bertrand would love to cone Rojo deal is complicated.

Can deal advanced

Caulker and Lovern are been sounded out for the best deal both are open to a move to Liverpool only 1 will sign

Konoplyanka will enter a bidding war with Liverpool walking away

Tello is being offered to anyone who will listen a deal is unlikely

Pedro and Sanchez are pipe dreams never going to happen

Lallana is in the transfer committee hands so I don't hold out much hope there.

Keep you posted

Thanks for keeping us posted, some groundbreaking stuff there.

Agree1 Disagree0

The only thing complicated with Rojo is the asking price.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Caulker is an improvement on anyone we have. and its clear Johnson and Skrtel don't work well together on the right side of defence.
