Good evening ed002, do you expect one of our front 3 to leave in the summer? I have been trying to think where Mane could go for example and I can only come up with PSG or Bayern. Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Mo Salah (RW/F) Liverpool could cash in to fund transfers but there is no clear interest at this time after he and his agent pricing him out of a move with previous attempts to leave. His "representative" has again been doing the rounds this time also asking Bayern Munich, PSG and surprisingly Chelsea if they are interested. I suspect that Barcelona and Real Madrid may also have been approached again. Liverpool will likely look to a new contract but don't be surprised of an offer from PSG.
Sadio Mane (LW/F) Would likely be too expensive for Barcelona but they could look to including Dembele in a deal - but Liverpool are overpricing players again. Real Madrid could look to him as alternative to Mbappe - possibly - but would want to throw players in to a deal.
Roberto Firmino (S) Liverpool will look to upgrade at some point whilst he still has value – perhaps in 2022.

All of these players are performing but they are all 30ish and their value will fall away - I suspect Klopp wants to do the rebuild rather than let someone else do it - which is a huge risk for the club financially.}

24 May 2021 20:20:42
If I remember we turned down £14m for Wilson, which seemed a very good offer to me.

Any player that doesn’t want to play for us can go at the right price I guess.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 May 2021 21:02:41
Never mind salahs agent pricing him out of a move it should be Liverpool football club he’s the last one to leave to me!

Agree1 Disagree0

24 May 2021 20:58:51
Understand to a certain extent the Spanish clubs Ed but why on earth would his representative be offering him to Chelsea? Surely we would match wages and it is a definite step down at this moment in time. Is Salah that desperate to move on?

Re Mane, I would defs take Dembele and some cash if it meant we could also buy a young CF.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2021 22:01:33
Last seasons Mane we can’t replace, this season though he was way off the pace. I can’t work out if he will get back to his best. Klopp and Edwards know best.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 May 2021 22:31:57
Salah is guaranteed between 20-30 goals a season, he'd be the last one out the 3 I'd sell.

Agree4 Disagree0

24 May 2021 22:38:47
This seasons Mane > any season Dembele. Fact,

Agree5 Disagree0

24 May 2021 23:43:21
I have clients who are sports agents (primarily rugby) who tell me it is common practice for agents, particularly if they have a very valuable client, to always gauge interest from clubs even if their client shows no desire to move.
They obviously earn from transfers and they will claim they are making sure their client is made aware of interest to keep him in the loop when in actual fact they are trying to turn his head to generate a fee for themselves.
Now I don’t know if this is the case with Salah but I certainly don’t see his agent touting him about as proof positive that he wants to leave Liverpool.

Agree5 Disagree0

25 May 2021 07:50:01
If Dembele gets his head right he is an absolute baller. Definitely more naturally talented than Mane. Would hope that Klopp would have a serious conversation around his motivations if we were to sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2021 10:12:41
Josh, Mane has scored double figures in goals every season since he was 20, in every league he’s played, even this season he’s not been at his best but still scored 11. Dembele on the other hand has only done that once, in a farmers league (Ligue 1). The lad is weak mentally and physically and is as thick as mince. Dembele isn’t worth the risk.

Agree7 Disagree0

25 May 2021 04:09:14
I ed002, i know you don't like this but should I hold my breath over kylian mbappa to liverpool?
I mean is there even a chance for this?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Kylian Mbappe (RW/S/F) is the primary target for Real Madrid in 2021 - they will face a challenge from Juventus who will be open to include players in the deal. Manchester City have certainly considered Mbappe but I think it unlikely they will commit to the €200M transfer fee, huge signing on fee and huge wages. Liverpool would also be in a similar position and the money would be a major issue for them regardless. PSG don't want to sell him and at the very least will expect him to agree a one or two year extension to his existing contract that runs until 2022, that will keep his price buoyant - and that seems the most likely outcome but he may want a commitment that he can join Real Madrid next summer. But Ideally PSG want him to agree a new long term deal and are willing to offer him €750k per week for a minimum two year extension.}

25 May 2021 08:53:42
Dembele isn't mature enough in my opinion, I can see him upsetting/ annoying a lot of the more experienced players. Ed's should one of them leave, is Pedro Neto still be looked at? He was doing the rounds this time last season, is he still highly thought of at the club?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The only Wolves player Liverpool has shown an interest in is Traore - although other clubs have been looking at Neto.}

25 May 2021 09:56:19
I remember a time when Ousmane Dembele was seen as Kylian Mbappe's equal. He is unbelievably talented. He just doesn't seem capable of applying that talent and somebody posted on here last time it came up just how many issues he has away from the pitch. From partying and trashing his rented accommodation, all the way down to little things like his diet.

He'll likely go down as another player who had the world it his feet, but his head in the clouds.

Agree5 Disagree0

25 May 2021 11:53:03
750k wow. Thanks ed for the reply. Appreciate it. It's safe to say the figures quoted are absolutely beyond liverpool and fsg.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 May 2021 13:04:50
Salah's agent has been talking to other clubs ever since his first day at Melwood, but a transfer hasn't even remotely come close to happening. The fact he approached Chelsea tells you all you need to know.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2021 14:16:30
Ed002, have you heard anything about how LFC view Traore as a possible fit into the squad, or is it merely a Klopp infatuation?

Traore hasn't proven to be consistent at all, so it just seems extremely risky to expect him to slot in as a Salah replacement. I like the idea of him playing behind Salah in the rotation, but I'm not sure that's money well spent at his current price, especially considering too that we have Harvey Elliott waiting in the wings.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would expect Traore to be a Salah replacement.}

25 May 2021 22:17:59
Replacing Salah with Traore would be like replacing Ian Rush with Steve Anthrobus. It would be almost guaranteeing a relegation battle.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2021 11:41:08
Agreed. Traore still looks like a rough diamond and needs work. Nuno is a great coach IMO and it worries me that Traore still isn't looking polished. For me, he still needs a few more years, understanding the best position for his attributes and I don't fancy that dice roll at LFC. Especially if he's seen as a replacement for a 20+ goalscorer.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2021 13:59:28
He still looks rough around the edges at 25, that should answer all questions. A few more years takes him far to close to 30 with no likelihood those shortcomings in his game will ever improve.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2021 17:27:19
Rumours today Konate done, any truth Ed's?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - One of the Ed's told you it was a "done deal" a few weeks ago so I am not going to comment.}

24 May 2021 16:09:51
Hi eds

Is it true that Liverpool are keen on signing Carney Chukwuemeka, from Aston Villa?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Carney Chukwuemeka (CM) Aston Villa will do all they can to keep the player amid interest from Manchester City, Juventus, Hoffenheim and Bayern Munich.}

24 May 2021 19:34:45
I know this isn't directly Liverpool related but is interesting, I have just read an article stating that Messi earns 1.2 million per week and that antoine greezman earns 795,000 per week.
That for me is just negligent running of football club, no wonder they are in such dire straights financially at Barcelona.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - your dead right snoots..

24 May 2021 20:23:32
Messi probably repays that and then some. But Greezman £800k a week is ludicrous. Even more ludicrous is we keep being linked with signing the player.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 May 2021 21:18:02
I believe the 1.2 million for Messi is ludicrous mark, it sets a realy bad precedent for how high Barcelona will go on wages, will only bring more financial strain upon them. With future players pushing for ridiculous wages.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 May 2021 06:16:27
Messi is a generational talent, he's more than delivered, so I could be convinced he's worth it. But 795k for Griezman? I thought giving Sanchez 400k at ManU was criminal. This is outrageous.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2021 12:43:13
I saw something online earlier in the year which i took a screen shot of.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Sorry - it was untrue.}

25 May 2021 13:45:11
No worries Ed002. Just goes to show the lies that are misreported about players wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2021 18:49:59
Konate supposedly done and it’s 44m instead of 34m Ed was prob spot on about the inflated price due to the tap up.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

24 May 2021 19:06:14
The inflated price is more to do with us wanting to pay in installments rather than the full release clause up front.
And the price is 36 mil pounds, not 44.

Agree4 Disagree0

24 May 2021 19:13:10
Probably because that figure is in Euros and the quoted £34mil was in pounds. Also you've taken the higher of the figure which has been quoted at €40-44million Euros which would work out at £34-37million.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 May 2021 19:21:26
€44m was what I read sorry.

24 May 2021 19:38:38
His injury record worries me .

Agree1 Disagree0

24 May 2021 19:43:09
I won't touch him. Much better defenders out there. This is absolute wastage of funds. I know he hasn't kicked a ball for us. But he hasn't for leipzig euther for almost 2 years. Its lunacy paying 40 bigones for just talent.

Benoit badashille chase him and get him he is a better defender all around.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2021 21:22:56
Until he’s leaning I’m not buying any of the rumours.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 May 2021 22:37:16
I am with Akira last thing we need is another player made of rice krispies, Germany is not as demanding a league as the English premiership, I hope we are stalling and looking at a more reliable option.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2021 10:10:27
Good morning one and all. Hope we are all happy at getting champions league football again for another year.

Questions for the Ed's regarding Nat Philips. Do you think that he has done enough for Liverpool to have him as one of our centre backs next year or do you think Liverpool will look to cash in? Thanks.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is not a case of "cashing in" - I expect his future will depend on arrivals and other departures.}

24 May 2021 12:11:45
VVD, Konate, Gomez, Matip and Phillips. That’ll do for me, I’d definitely have 5 CB’s because we don’t know if VVD and Gomez will be fully ready at the start of next season. Matip has his injury issues and Konate needs time to settle. Keeping Phillips would be a smart move.
If he’s not had much playing time by January maybe he or Matip moves on in the transfer window.

Agree5 Disagree0

24 May 2021 12:14:12
I think its more in the player's court than ours. He will at best be 4th choice once everyone is fit (VVD, Gomez, Konate/ A N Other will be ahead of him) . Matip is a better fit for our set up when he is fit. As that tends to happy on Tuesday evenings when we rarely has games, I think Nat's reliability may count in favour of him getting more games than Matip in a season.

If he wants to go hunting for regular first team football then I guess we will have to say goodbye. However, I can see him getting at least 20 games a season if not more.

If I was him, I would stay for next season, as VVD and Gomez will be coming back to fitness and new CB will be settling in, and then make a decision by Jan 22. He is in contract until summer 23 (AFAIK) so there will be plenty of time to either sign a new contract or to get a decent return on a sale for the club.

Agree4 Disagree0

24 May 2021 12:27:27
I'd rather we kept Philips and moved on Matip. Matip is a great player just his injuries mean he's in for a game or two then out for eight. That's not a sustainable defensive strategy.

Agree10 Disagree0

24 May 2021 14:18:38
Second that Baz. Phillips has proven his metal.

Agree7 Disagree0

24 May 2021 14:45:20
Philips made 20 appearances this season.
I don’t see how he matches or betters that again next season.
Unless we’re really really unlucky again.
Theres big financial reasons for both selling and keeping Philips.
In all likelihood his value with us will never be as high as it is now. However if we want to save the £18mil on Kabak to use elsewhere (help fund Konate? ) we could let Kabak go and hold onto Philips as a 4/ 5th choice option. Down side there is his value will very likely depreciate. That would leave us with VVD, Gomez, Matip, Konate, Philips.
In football terms Kabak seems the better “footballer” than Philips but as we’ve seen Philips is aerially dominant. Between the 2 I think Kabak has the higher ceiling.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 May 2021 15:09:16
I can see him being first choice in cup games (and I think he will be very useful against lower league teams in the early rounds) and I think he will get a handful of appearances in the prem in the early stages as well.
So for us he’s well worth keeping, he’s reliable as back up and doesn’t have the fitness issues of Matip.
But I do think he’s good enough to play regularly somewhere now so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go at the end of next season or even this summer.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 May 2021 16:45:26
how much do people honestly think Phillips would fetch? My guess around £7m so he is a keeper for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2021 17:19:40
I don't see how anyone could doubt Nate Phillips abilities. He has shown in 20 league games that he has what it takes and at no time was he really exposed as not fit for purpose. Stick him beside Virgil for a few games and see how it goes especially with an operational midfield in front of them.
Why Liverpool are spending money they don't have on players they might not need when it could be used in other areas of the pitch is beyond me.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 May 2021 17:56:29
I don’t see how Phillips hasn’t shown his worth. He’s never played in the prem and most of the time been the ‘most experienced’ centre half. He’s young, we can trust him and he’s not half bad! Typically we have been bad in the air, he’s good in the air. Say vvd got injured again. would you want Kabak and gomez or Phillips and Gomez. I know who I’d take. I don’t see any benefit of buying Kabak ad selling Phillips personally. Kabak is no quicker, not as good in the air and has a questionable history at best.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 May 2021 18:01:03
I'd sell, unpopular opinion but i just don't think he's good enough. Eventually he will get found out and come in for dogs abuse on here. There was a time yesterday were trent gave the ball away to Townsend and Nat looked like he was in slow motion trying to catch him. When Virg/ Gomez returns we'll be defending near the halfway line and in that case Nat will get exposed big time.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 May 2021 06:15:53
Gomez and Matip will miss 30-50% of games through injury. Nat Philip's should at least be given another season if he wants to stay as back up.

Suspect he will want regular games and that would mean move. And good luck to him if he does, he has been fantastic this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 May 2021 07:54:58
Great end to a poor season but the finish to the season has made klopps message for next year all the easier

Ed's/ reds

Interesting to see the names linked but I'm more interested in getting rid of a few

Are the club actively looking to part with 🤞🏻

Origi
Shaq
Naby

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They are all on the list of potential sales.}

24 May 2021 09:34:41
I still think shaq is a good backup, he’s had a pretty good season from the bench. Origi, Keita, Ox, grujic, minamino and a few others are the ones I’d be selling for whatever you can get.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 May 2021 12:13:23
Don’t mind shaq but surely Harvey Elliott will take his place. He’s capable of playing a couple of different positions.
Just training with the first 11 and playing cup matches plus the odd PL game etc. Will do him the world of good and help him further improve.
Shaq surely won’t want to stay and not play much, think Elliott is the man to take over his place in the squad.

Agree4 Disagree0

24 May 2021 12:28:27
Elliott needs to be a squad player next season with some decent game time. If your good enough then your old enough.

Agree5 Disagree0

24 May 2021 16:25:07
I don't think any of our "benched players" have done themselves justice this season, especially when we needed them.
There were times when players needed a break this season, but it seemed to me Klopp didn't trust the other players at his disposal. For me we need to clear the decks and start a fresh.
Elliot needs to be integrated into the team.
Shaq, Origi, Keita, Ox, Wilson, Grujic, Woodburn, Ojo, Awoniyi, Tmiskas, Minamino etc = no impact or not even at the club. Sell the lot!

Agree2 Disagree0

24 May 2021 19:51:09
Agree Irish rover. We need players who can rotate with the starting eleven. What we don’t need is “back up players” all those you have mentioned lower the teams performance when they step on the pitch. Whereas players like jota, matip and Jones slot in. Deadwood in the squad brings the whole team down.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - This is the most disgraceful of posts. Liverpool have done well this year and have had to use fringe players to do so - yet the pond life still want the "deadwood" gone from the club. Complete and utter appalling support from some Liverpool fans yet again. I guess the likes of van Dijk, who has done nothing for the club this season, are part of the "deadwood" that needs to go.}

24 May 2021 05:13:22
Any news on konate eds? Are we going to stump the cash up? Surely we are not going to stick with the Turkish lad? Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what news you re expecting. They player has been tapped up and his head turned, he has now been referred to as a liar after making a statement that Liverpool have not spoken to either him or his agent. Liverpool know what they have to do - but have not done it. Now they are in the Champions League it will be easier to borrow against next year's additional income. They will also be looking to sell players to raise funds but have already priced at least two out of possible moves. This is no way to run a business.}

24 May 2021 09:49:44
Would you be able to name the 2 players. or just that are they in squad or out on loan.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Grujic and Awoniyi.}

24 May 2021 10:40:03
Ed002, I know you are very critical about the way Liverpool does their transfer business and it is not the first time they tap up players and paid the price for it. Why do you think LFC are still allowing such behavior when they could do it the proper way? I mean, as a club, we are successful enough to attract talent and we do not need to do things illegally.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea why the club are allowing Klopp to continue with this.}

24 May 2021 12:31:03
As stupid as it sounds, has anyone actually informed Klopp what he is doing it an illegal tap up?
Maybe he isn't quite offay with the rules that he continues to break them. He can't just have been doing it at Liverpool can he?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Of course he knows. The club had to pay £15M plus agent costs about what Southampton wanted for VvD. Letters have been written to the club demanding the club stop or threaening referral to UEFA. The club have previously dragged the slime behind them making apologies to clubs such as Fulham in the past.}

24 May 2021 12:33:37
They’re Americans, they cause wars in country’s for oil I’m sure a little tapping up is of no importance to them . Underhanded fookers.
