There were reports Lewandowski to LFC, Klopp connection and all. How possible is this, noting our finances?

Don’t care. He’s awesome but IMO a massive gamble with huge costs. Think at PSG he’ll continue to thrive. Anywhere else he’s unproven. Old and expensive major expensive at least CR7 gives a little bit of guarantee as he’s played in three top leagues proven record and sells shirts.

Aren’t Bayern asking for a big transfer fee for him? And he’s going to be on stupid wages too? Evidently “Fair Play” is dead.

Henderson has signed a new deal until 2024 apparently. Another bit of good news.

Ed's I see Chelsea are red hot favourites to land Saul. just curious on you're most recent thoughts on where he will end up and are we still in the running? Be absolutely gutted seeing him at Chelsea or united. My personal opinion is our spending is over and klopp seems quite happy with what he's got.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea expect to reach agreement over the issue holding it up. At the moment there are no other offers still on the table although there remains interest from two other sides.}

25 Aug 2021 16:02:07
I doubt klopp is happy but he understands the situation and will get on with his job.

I doubt Klopp is happy with what he has got - more that there are no funds unless we sell more players and no space in the squad to include players purchased. Am sure if it was up to Klopp there are a few he would get rid off to get a few in but he doesn't set the prices or negotiate the transfers.

Klopp probabaly okayed a list of players put forward and it is up to the recrutiment team to do the rest with the finances at their disposal - which was a pint of lager and a packet of chrisps.

Weird that the league champions in Spain are so keen to get rid of this player. He’s a player I’ve always looked out for but I think I must be missing something. I just don’t see a world class player.

I do suspect though if I wasn’t a Liverpool fan I wouldn't have been a huge appreciator of Gini. Some players you have to watch what they do without the ball as much as with the ball……but I’m not gutted.

Ox in a Box - seems odd that Klopp has openly stated he is happy with his squad, doesn’t like adding too many and is really excited about the season because he has youngsters coming through and some of the worlds best players coming back to fitness.

I guess Klopp is lying and you know best.

Does Klopp honestly strike you as someone who wouldn’t complain if he felt he wasn’t backed? Not really sure we’re watching the same Klopp.

Klopp is a yes man.

Only an utter cretin would say Klopp is a yes man.

If he is a ‘yes’ man then I wish we hadn’t waited so long to get one in because most of the ‘no’ men were crap at their jobs….

Sometimes Klopp with no money is a good thing. There’s a good chance if we had the money we would have signed Traore and Sanches.

25 Aug 2021 19:45:55
Should we have deprived him of money when he wanted Gini and Mane?
I thought after what Klopp has achieved here already fans would have trusted his judgement.

Fans appreciate Klopp.

These Twitter fans who think the season is played out on the internet in summer and only understand big transfer fees, only appreciate big transfer fees.

They are Top Trumps fans and have not the merest conception under God what our club means.

They’ll discover girls (who will hate them) soon and we will be rid of their blight.

We have a top four team without needing to sign anyone else. The end 👌.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Aug 2021 22:28:22
Who cares about top 4? If we don’t win the league we will have most definitely failed. Our first 15-16 are by a distance the best in the league, now they just need to prove it.

If you look at our starting 11 it’s tough to see how bringing in a new player would so clearly strengthen this team (apart from someone like Messi or Mbappe! ) .

While I’m always keen on a transfer to keep things fresh, we just don’t have many obvious weaknesses to fill anymore, and this team plays like a well oiled unit. The only major worries I have are if Fabinho or Alisson get injured for a meaningful length of time.

We don't need anyone too desperately as long as everyone stays fit and they get a fair run of games (Minamoto, Ox, Curtis, Milly, even players like Tsimikas and Elliott) . let's see where we are in December. got to think: we won our first two games comfortably with no Henderson, Thiago, Fabinho. Our big summer signing hasn't even made his debut. Firmino has been a sub twice. Mane and Salah are still the best strike tandem in the league. We have an incredibly gifted squad with some really exciting youth running through it. And the best goalkeeper and center back in the world. We just need to smile and get ready for Chelsea.

We really would benefit from a world class CF, Vardy of 2/ 3 years ago would be top scorer in the league by a fair few with us, don't be fooled to think we don't need new additions, not only does it lift fans, it lifts players too.

WhyOWhy - Klopp is hardly going to say he is unhappy with the squad and say that the kids aren't good enough is he. Imagine what that would do to their confidence. Klopp likes to keep his players close knit/ wanted so will not rock the boat

Considering the links to Sanches/ Saul etc - shows clearly that Klopp thinks we are a bit light there and would like someone else in. And before you say we have Elliott - yes i agree and hope to see him play a lot more but at the start of the window, Elliott was seen as the backup to Salah, not as a midfielder.

I think we have done okay. Like Eds say, if there aren't funds available then we need to do better with the players we have. Bringing Elliot in albeit it only has been 2 games looks very smart. So far we haven't had issues scoring goals and two clean sheets with only Robbo injured. If we beat Chelsea who are going to be a very hard test, I think that speaks for itself the current squad can win the league.

We have the same team that won the CL/ PL just albeit a bit older. All our front four have scored already, but we have arguably a better CB in Konate than Lovren. Tsimikas is likely an upgrade on Albie and Elliot has helped fill the gap Wijnaldum left. Originally I felt a little skeptical just signing Konate, but seeing what we have managed to do in terms of shipping players out and adding Jota/ Thiago. I'm pretty excited for this upcoming season!

Ed002.thanks again for replying to my questions. Is Lucas Ocampos being looked at by LFC as one of the versatile fowards under consideration for a potential bid this window?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - If Mane or Jota were to leave Liverpool could look to another LW.}

25 Aug 2021 13:02:37
Curious on your thoughts Ed and want to make it very clear not having a go am genuinely curious. You seem to be stringent on players having a fixed position. In the past having distinguished a Left sided CB from a right CB and LW RW when mentioning players Liverpool look at and who they potentially would need to get rid of.

Do you think the game is moving more away from set positions and players at the top level are expected to be able to adapt to a number of positions? Does this come down to training or the players capabilities themselves? Just curious as at times people like Peps philosophy nearly seems to be his ideal scenario would be 10 what would have previously been referred to as box to box midfielders who are all capable of doing a bit of everything at any given moment. It's also been seen to a lesser extent at Liverpool and other clubs with fluid front 3s at times and sometimes having midfielders join the attack or defense depending on the situation.

Overall do you think the game is moving away from having defined roles for individual players and we will keep progressing towards "total footballers" capable of nearly playing every position?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Whilst versatile players are always wanted and wingers can oftern play on either side (Salah and Willian are good examples) players have a natural and preferred position. Liverpool have been looking at RW players like Sarr, Traore, Bowen and Doku. Clubs want, ideally, two players for every outfield position.}

25 Aug 2021 18:16:06
Hi Ed’s,

Ed002 just read you mentioned RW side players Liverpool would like…. I’ve read your previous comments about Bowen, Sarr and Traore…. I see Doku has now been mentioned are Liverpool interested in him? (I think he is a wonderful talent) and personally would think he would fit well in with this Liverpool side (young player with a lot of potential) .

Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - Doku would be one for next summer not this.}
