Hi Eds,
I was just wondering whether any teams are looking at Clyne? Its only recently people have started to rate him. Is anyone interested in him? Are Liverpool, seeing as johnson looks likely to be exiting?
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - Man Utd were showing interest last season, but Van Gaal didn't want the club to move for him in the summer as he hadn't seen enough of him.}

We already have Wisdom, Mclaughlin, Flanno who will challenge for the RB spot once Johnson leaves. Clyne whilst a quality player is not needed at all and would be another unnecessary signing like Markovic and Manquillo.

Agree1 Disagree1

Clyne is a superb prospect and will absolutely not be joining us as he'll be too expensive and not justifiable to the owners while we have Glen Johnson on the books.
Until Rodgers packs his bags we won't attract anyone of quality.

are there any legs in these jackson martinez to liverpool rumours?

Believable9 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Would this be as a replacement for Sturridge? Liverpool has Balotelli, Yesil, Lambert, Sturridge, Borini and Origi as strikers already - plus Sterling and Markovic who could be used. They also have financial issues with borrowing and FFP. SO I think it unlikely unless the club could clear the decks a bit.}

Hi eds,
With brendan at this moment and time looking to be gone. How long do you think he be still in the job for?
Just like to know do you think Fsg will have someone in place to replace rodgers straight away or do you think they will have someone to step in till they find someone suitable.
I can see down the page you said about rafa family in liverpool and frank de boer is favourite. But no one have asked you about klopp? I would love to have Klopp he be the perfect manager, he's also a lfc fan. Klopp fit right in the kop.
Thanks Eds.

Believable14 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - they don't want a caretaker again, because they realise it is difficult then to look elsewhere if the caretaker is successful. The fans start wanting them to stay and it increases the pressure on a new man. They would like to avoid it and be prepared.
I would absolutely love Klopp, I am sure everyone around the club would also say the same, but it is a very remote possibility he leaves Dortmund. If he did, then he would have his pick of the clubs he wanted. Why would he want to move to a club that only offers him the same as he has currently at Dortmund? That is my worry, I just can't see what he would gain by leaving them to join us.}

So eds, are we saying BRs sacking is inevitable or will he be givin more time to turn thing around? Are we talking days, weeks, end of season before sacking?

{Ed001's Note - FSG are in the process of investigating the best course of action via people with more knowledge of the game than themselves. From the feedback I have been given, there looks to be 2 possible options regarding Rodgers.

Firstly that he accepts help on the coaching side, particularly regarding a specialist coach to work on defending in open play and especially set pieces.

Secondly that he is removed and a new coaching team plus a director of football to take overall control are put in place instead.

According to everyone who has ever known Rodgers, he is too arrogant/proud (depending on who you speak to) and would never accept the help, knowing that it would be casting doubts on his ability to manage the club, especially after the installation of the transfer committee due to his lack of transfer acumen.

In my personal opinion, I believe FSG will take the second option anyway, as they wanted the DoF in the first place and they have already lost faith in Rodgers' transfers and dealings with the media.}

Klopp would be a great manager for liverpool, and hopefully would bring reus, Gundogan and hummels with him. when we played dortmund in pre season and i saw klopp touch the this is anfield sign with a massive grin on his face, i thought. this guy is going to be our next manager!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dealings with the media? I've always thought of Rodgers as pretty good with the media?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, he is a complete joke with the media.}

I don't want klopp, ! Have you seen Dortmund where they are in the league?

Agree0 Disagree1

Ed001, when you say they've lost faith in his signings, did they not see some of this coming and realise a few were bought for the future, when in fact we needed them for now? It didn't take a degree in football (can you get one of those) to think that we bought too many, sent too many on loan, some of which could have been used for the ones coming in! They must have signed off for the transfers, so what were they told was going to be the whole grand scheme of things?
On option 1, I thought it makes you a man, if you can accept help when help is what's needed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they appointed people to run the club, they are not football experts, so they take advice. They have just clearly made a mistake with the people they appointed, so now they are re-examining the situation. When you are new to a job, you take advice and instruction off people who have been there a lot longer. If it turns out to be rubbish advice, well you only find that out later when it all goes tits up. They will learn from this though.

I do agree on the help thing, intelligent people look to learn from those who know more than them, as they realise that no one person can know everything. Unfortunately, a lot of people who could be intelligent fail to use their brain and think they are more intelligent than they are and so refuse to accept help.}

Thanks Ed, as usual a great reply!

I really do hope Brendan is doing similar to what the owners are doing, maybe listening to people like Carragher and the like about the use of Gerrard as a DM. That would do for starters, maybe even look back at the RM game and 'really' learn from it!

Ed01, Do you think D.Dein would involve in helping the owners?. Last time h was at Anfield and lot rumored that he was going to be our DOF.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he was involved in consulting last time, this time I believe they are looking for different opinions.}

Going back into the last time we went through this little exercise, do any of the Eds have any insight why FSG elected to not go the DoF route back then? I remember there being lots of speculation at the time about Txiki, Dein, and probably others before we eventually just went with Rodgers. Honestly as bad as the committee has been at transfers the owners (who I have nothing against otherwise) aren't exactly batting a thousand (to use a baseball metaphor) either when it comes to their appointments, so I do admit some degree of nervousness about whether they'll get it 'right' this time or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - because they couldn't get the DoF they wanted and all the managers that would work with one were not interested in the job.}

Interesting. Thanks, Ed001, and makes sense.

I guess we'll see what happens when/if it happens, just really hoping we're not moving from relative disaster to relative disaster with respect to club management as the evidence thus far seems to be whoever FSG is getting advice from is perhaps not the right person (e.g. Comolli, appointing Kenny on a permanent, and the appointment of a young, inexperienced Rodgers).

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love to see tony pulis come in personally. Defensively sound coach, coaches a very attractive style of football, always has a very strong back room staff and finally he won't put up with absolute garbage players playing week in week out. Pulis likes big strong players the likes that we haven't seen since sissoko and hyppia and again personal opinion but something you need in modern day football. Also he's a free agent.

Agree0 Disagree4

Hey ed, can you tell me please what he did wrong in the media ? Thank u ed !

{Ed002's Note - Done to death - RTP.}

Steve Nicol as Rodgers replacement? Thanks Eds.

Believable2 Unbelievable9

{Ed001's Note - he is rated very highly in the US, but I would doubt it. His brand of football makes Houllier's look like all out attack.}

Love watching him on ESPNFC. Tells it how it is.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could be a good adittion as a first team coach if Rodgers is going to stay. Probably adds some defensive thinking to the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You think it would help Liverpool just to add ex-players to the coaching staff? It is like some sort of joke. Joey Barton to come back to sort out midfield?}
