Liverpool transfer news and rumours: Jurgen Klopp to demand Reds stump up £75m for Robert Lewandowski .
tHIS IS TELEGRAPH HEADLINE ANY TRUTH TO THIS ED.

Believable1 Unbelievable34

{Ed002's Note - Have you tried the search engine?}

26 Jan 2016 21:23:09
Search engine showing nothing Ed? Okay, £75m is not going to happen, we must know that - but would Lewandowski to Liverpool have any kind of chance of happening in the foreseeable future?

Even if we sold Sturridge and Benteke, whilst I'd love to have Lewandoski at Anfield, I still don't see we'd have the funds for a start.

Ed002 said yesterday 60m for morata, today 30m for teixiera, tomorrow it will be 65m for lewandowski.
He called it and in context it's ed saying it Sandra bullocks.

Daily Express also reporting the same and that we are now willing to meet clubs demands but will not pay fro all up front and the rest will be paid according to goal related contribution.

Not sure i believe they will be willing to agree for anything less than what they stated and that they would risk not getting the whole sum.

Agree0 Disagree12

{Ed002's Note - They are just repeating the story Gareth.}

26 Jan 2016 11:24:09
I don't think Teixeira will happen now. We're clearly not willing to pay €50m. Perhaps we'll move on to Praet. I'll admit I've never watched him but his highlights look good. Fast, good close control, good with both feet, excellent vision, good cross on him, pretty good shot etc. No idea if the highlights flatter him or not but as a younger and cheaper option to Teixeira who Klopp apparently really likes, and whose club will let him leave, he is looking the more likely signing right now.

Believable3 Unbelievable35

26 Jan 2016 12:00:04
To be honest EMS, I have a sneaking suspicion the club might just push the boat out to the tune of 35m plus for this guy. And who knows, they may do the deal in jan hoping that we might still make a CL place this season.
I hate the thought of being fleeced again and i think one day all this will catch up with us somehow, but on the other hand I'm torn about it because he does seem to be steadily improving his performances, albeit against defences of less quality- so he doesn't look like a one season wonder.
If we can't find a cheaper option then 30m plus is where the prices seem to start for quality players- especially those with a few goals in them.
If chelsea are baulking at the price you know its eye-watering, but they already have a mostly world class squad, and if this guy gives us the extra goals to push for a CL place it will go some way to make up for the price.
And all of that totally contradicts what I thought earlier this morning. I think I'm transfer committee material!

Agree9 Disagree16

26 Jan 2016 12:02:40
Wouldn't write it off just yet! Realistically I just don't see why we would continue talks if we weren't essentially all in for teixera. I know we've made mistakes like this before but I just feel it will be teixera or no one. I just get the feeling klopp really wants that one player to really kick us on or evaluate properly in the summer. Praet of course could end up being done by the weekend now ha and I'm a bit like you I've never seen him play live. That being said I spent a lot of the last 2 years around central Europe mainly Holland and Germany but some time in Belgium France and Austria and funnily enough a lot of Ajax fans raved about praet saying he was the next big player in Europe don't know if Ajax were interested and they knew or what but he was a player brought to my attention from good word of mouth for sure. Not a lot to base if on obviously but I would still be excited should he sign either. But at the end of the day I just think we are ready to match somewhere near shaktars valuation, it is abundantly clear so why discuss if we're not going to get close.

Agree2 Disagree15

26 Jan 2016 12:07:29
Reports saying we want lowendolski
75m from Munich I know this might not be true but if it is then lowendolski is a great player my point is if we can pay that much for lowendolski I if we whant Alex texria then 39m should get him ynwa.

26 Jan 2016 16:12:44
I disagree on Praet.

Haven't seen a lot of him, but what I've seen -- doesn't excite me at all. Unlike Teixeira, as an attacking midfielder, he would only be a marginal upgrade-- if that-- on what we have now.

Certainly not as good as either Coutinho or Firmino. Looks comparable to Lallana, in terms of technical ability (but maybe not even) . No real pace. No explosiveness. And certainly no evidence of him being prolific-- 5 league goals in 28 apps last year. And 4 this year through 19.

Honestly, if the Teixeira deal doesn't go through, I'd rather save our money and go after Lacazette, Teixeira, Embolo, Icardi, or someone similar in the summer. No thanks on Praet.

Agree1 Disagree5

26 Jan 2016 16:23:15
Praet is very young, Fear. He's certainly not the finished article, but he has shown that he's got a lot of quality at a young age. Do we need another one with lots of potential? Probably not. But if Klopp wants him (he was a target for Dortmund as well as I recall) then I'm willing to see how Klopp sees him getting on. My major reservation with him is he hasn't really kicked on as much in terms of development as I might have thought he would have a couple of years back when he was about the same level in my mind he is now. That all said, Anderlecht play Sint-Truiden on Friday, maybe a good opportunity to see both Praet and perhaps Allan play.

{Ed001's Note - while on the subject EMS, as you have a bit of time on your hands get in touch with the contact form and we will get you on a poddie.}

26 Jan 2016 16:41:42
Those are all fair points, RDL, and I trust Klopp's judgment.

Problem, is that Praet would be a pretty expensive for what he has shown so far. My thinking is that if we were picking him up for a Gruljic like price, then I'd be fine with it. But seeing him as a legitimate "alternative" to Teixeira-- which is what EMS first suggested-- is like comparing chalk and cheese.

If we passed on more developed talents, I would much rather spend that same money on another Belgian-- Breel Embolo, who has shown all the things I mentioned: explosive pace, explosive power, both on the ball and in his strikes, and also evidence he scores goals-- 10 goals in 27 appearances last year, in his first season with Basel. And that was as an 18 year old. I'm betting by the time he's 21-- Praet's age-- he'll double that total, and will be even stronger and more powerful.

26 Jan 2016 16:48:30
Whoops, minor correction: Embolo is actually Swiss (obviously) . I stand by the rest of my post. :)

Morning reds,

Weekend loan update for you.

Grujic and red star Belgrade don't play again until mid Feb due to their winter break for those that are wondering.

Wisdom found himself cup tied this weekend, however never has a players reputation grown so much by not being on the field!
With his parent club shifting 4 whilst his loanee club conceding 5 wisdom must now be seen as the new Alan Hanson to both teams!

Luis Alberto played the full 90 and got an assist as deportivo drew 1-1 with Gary Neville's Valencia. Former Utd player Neville is yet to win a game in Spain 😇

Ballotelli played for the final 20 and was booked for his troubles as AC drew 2-2 with Empoli.

Fenerbache have played twice since the last update.
The first was against Tuzlaspor in the cup, markovic came on as a 65th minute sub and won the game with a last minute winner 🏆
The second was against Rizespor in the league and a 2-1 win moves them top 🏆
Markovic played the full 90 and I bet he is one happy cookie this week.

Can anyone remind me who's meant to be at Sheffield Wednesday!?

Vigouroux played the full 90 as Swindon drew 1-1 with Sheffield Utd.

Fulton made his debut for Portsmouth in goal this weekend.
Things didn't start well as he gave away a penalty 😢
But then he saved the penalty 🏆 and the rebound 🏆🏆🏆
However Oxford went on to win 1-0 😭

Canos played the last 10 minutes as Brentford beat Preston 3-1.

All others were injured, didn't have games or wernt picked etc etc etc.

Big game tonight for the reds! Those lucky enough to go to Anfield make it a fortress.

Come on you redmen!

You forgot Allan made his debut for Sint-Truiden.
Came on for last 10 mins and showed some nice touches apparently. Really hope he does well there, even if leading his second European club to a league title is pretty unlikely. :)

{Ed001's Note - Valencia were lucky, there was a perfectly good goal disallowed for Depor.}

26 Jan 2016 10:38:51
Yeah tbh I can't see Neville Neville being a success there. He's tried 5 different formations but it's just not clicking. Gaz knows football, but inspiring and improving a squad in La Liga requires a lot more than that. Especially with the expectation levels at the Mestalla.

In fairness since Fenway took over transfers have been terrible with the exception of suarez and coutinho! £35 million on andy carrol, is is any wonder teams see us coming and think we are mugs, because of that we lose out on quite a number of targets and time ends up wasted! LFC should be looking to build on their youth system and bring in top quality players, 1-2 a season and make sure and get it right, if it means £38 million then so be it! Wasting 70 million on talent we loan out or do not play is pointless! 26 goals in 22 games this season, 16 goals in the league. which is exactly what we need! As much as i loved sturridge he is ****ed, he can't scroe from the stands, I hope he recovers but its all looking a bit Harry Kewell! All the weight will be put on coutinho and he is inconsistent, possible a goal scorer will let him relax with less pressure! Unfortunately, we need CL football or our team will really just end up a mid-table team and a great of the past, its been happening slowly for 20 years. A shake up is needed and a realisation that we need quality proven goalscorers and a keeper! Westerveld, Dudek, Reina, always had a good stopper. Reina was pushed out for a few errors, I bet he's laughing now about it watching Mignolet! No voice, not commanding enough. Ter Stegen would be a great improvement but that's just a dreamland!

Just got back from Benidorm last night and on the plane was Ian ayre, are we looking at anybody's players from clubs around there or was Ian just there watching sticky Vicky!

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - Domenech the keeper is of interest. Most feel he is the best keeper they have and the best outside of the top 3 in Spain, yet he has lost his place to Matt Ryan.}

26 Jan 2016 07:57:38
One would assume he's there to talk numbers rather than scout his technical talents though? Especially as he's not getting a game

Ed what do you make of the interest in Domenech now in regards to Ward. Or maybe they are planning a summer move for him. Your thoughts? Thanks in adavance.

26 Jan 2016 06:19:41
This deal has got a week to go and it has got shades of konoplyanka all over it . The lad has said he wants to come to Liverpool but I just don't think that will be enough . We won't offer the 35 mill and if we do as ed1 has said I suspect the goalposts would simply be moved to prevent the deal happening . I hope I'm wrong.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - I agree, but I am not involved in making the decisions. It seems we like to waste time on forlorn hopes just because the player is keen.}

26 Jan 2016 07:16:14
And even if we do get a deal done we will have over paid and stretched our purse strings yet again.

Could it be a case of as its potentially Klopps first big signing the club want to try there upmost to get it done?

Agree6 Disagree1

26 Jan 2016 07:19:55
As someome mentioned above, it stinks of Konoplyanka. You would think Ayre had learnt from that and would move on to someone else.
Ayre's inability to get a deal over the line or inability to move on has cost us in numerous windows. At what point do the club consider changing him?

Agree3 Disagree7

26 Jan 2016 07:24:31
Maybe it's not that often a top player is that keen, so that's why all eggs etc.

If it were me, the (apparent) £28m, I'd try £18m on Ter Stegan and see if Leicester want to double their outlay on Kante at £8m, leaving £2m on a loan fee for a striker, maybe Remy.

Agree0 Disagree13

26 Jan 2016 07:47:25
£18m on a good but fairly unproven keeper, £8m for a key squad member of a team fighting for the title with no need to see and £2m loan fee for a fairly average striker who can't get a game in a team desperate for forwards. Awesome.

In regards to Tex, I quite like like the idea of going hard for the player you want, as long as you don't then switch to a second or third choice last minute and are willing to promote from within or work with what you have. What I hate is spending so long on outside options and then panic buying when they don't come off.

Is anyone else fairly happy to just wait until summer to get any transfers done?

We slowly but surely are having our squad return to fitness. obviously it would be great to get teixera, BUT at that price for someone unproven outside the ukranian league, i would prefer to wait until the end of the season.

Ed's do you think we will see more of the portuguese teixera as in both exeter games he didn't give a bad account of himself!
