Is sig signing for Lfc or what ? Ed {Ed001's Note - it is a personal decision he has to make, it is up to him, how the hell am I meant to know? He will choose where he wants to go, but we have yet to agree a fee for him.}

His wage demands (70K) are to high for us ,the little brat.

26 Jun 2012 21:57:34
@JohnFogartyIrl
Sigurdsson offered sun, moon & stars wages-wise by Spurs, who will pay fee upfront. #LFC have given him a take it or leave it deal.Sigurdsson wants to join #LFC but Rodgers won't overpay for him.

Then BR is a smart man surely. I think he is right to stand his ground and Sig has the right to do the same

gareth

How the hell are we losing out to thfc?? this is embarrassing we are losing out to a club with no manager!?!?!?

AND.....
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

Weird I know, but that's what came to me when I read that post

John Henry has just tweeted a blog, with Anfield plans for a huge re-design...

We are staying at Anfield!

Or has he just retweeted Peter M's "we can't possibly build a new stadium as we won't make any money and I won't make any money" blog?

Looks good.

Send the link

Just read that afrticle and im all for it if the plans are anything to go by would be great

I have to admit I was surprised to see him tweet the link BUT happy about the content.

Please read the blog. -red norwegian-

It's a decent blog and I don't disagree with the premise behind it's content, but for the life of me I can't figure out why Henry would tweet a link to a blog with no explanation as to why? Just seems a little strange to me.

RDL

John henry is a great man only wants success does not say stuff that he is not going to do like aspade in the ground in 40 days if he is tweeting this and the plan looks good happy days and we get to stay at anfield prob new naming rights though to help fund plans and team building.Tommy Irish Red.

ed, whats your personal views currently on sigurdsson. is he spurs bound or liverpool?
thanks, ian {Ed029's Note - I think it still hangs in the balance to be honest. Hopefully it will come down to his relationship with BR rather than money as I think BR would give him a fair run of games}

Ed029 i think at the moment i would agree with you! i believe his relationship with br could help, after what sig said if he did move to managerless spurs then we dont need him!
have faith have patience boys and girls¬

billynwa

Fair Run of games??.This guy warrants a staring. place every game so long as he is fit. Gerald can drop back into Holding role withLucas. I really hope we can push through two more deals. Luck de Jong and James Rodriguez, if qe don't get James, we must turn to Muniain. HOWEVER, if the owners want to make an impression for nwxr season, go all out and make an approach for all three!!( unlikely in myview)

Let it be, i hope BR doesn't over spend on him. and move on if it comes down to his club wanting more money than we plan to pay for him. and get gaston ramirez

26 Jun 2012 20:55:05

Gylfi Sigurdsson will not be signing for Tottenham. He will be joining Liverpool, Please don't listen to all these unconfirmed reports.

Don

Direct quote from Alan Shearer on twitter eh!

And look who he's following... suarez!

Isn't this an unconfirmed report? Now I'm confused, do I listen, or not?

26 Jun 2012 20:38:54
Sigurdsson just tweeted " I have made my decision as to where I will be playing next season and will inform you all when everything is complete"
Balesy

Fake account

It's not his real account mate

Lee

What is his twitter account? Not seen any mention of this so far - Cheers

It's a fake account as it's not verified.

Thats spurs then as his agent has been negotiating the deal for him.

lfcscott

26 Jun 2012 20:42:24
Liverpool are planning a bid to sign adam johnson from man city. this is most likely to happen as adam johnson wants more playing time on the pitch which liverpool can offer him. liverpool will also get sigurderson.

Shame AJ is fudging crap.

I would be ashamed if we went and wasted money on him, he is useless.

Ben

I can believe the johnson part but sig looks set for spurs tbh.

Eds what do you believe is happening regarding the siguardson deal are spurs the front runners now ?

Red man {Ed001's Note - impossible to say, they have agreed a fee with Hoffenheim, as have Swansea and Reading, we haven't. So it is up to him now to choose between those 3, unless someone else agrees a fee with his club.}

Why have we not agreed a fee?

are we negotiating personal terms first or what ? {Ed001's Note - I don't know. But it is nothing to do with personal terms, probably just not willing to pay as much as they are asking.}

26 Jun 2012 20:16:49
Firstly i have no news on the Sig deal..

I just wanted to put fans minds at ease having looked at all the negative posts..

I am very confident that the club are prepared to spend big money in the summer, the only thing they will not do is sign older players on big contracts..

Wait and see...

Cheers

Macca

Glad to hear from you. Do you have any other info for us?

Thanks for the update Macca but not sure how that puts the fans minds at ease.
Cheers

Macca your back!!Ahhh thank god for that.I got a wee bit worried for a bit that you may have been kidnapped&used as a sex slave in Poland....

Good man macca welcome back

Cheers Macca
Fans do get themselves into a frenzy at this time of the year!
As long as the owners support the manager's plans and fund moves for his targets, I'll be happy with his judgement
5uarezTimes

Thanks Macca I really appreciate ur response. The only thing I can say to u mate that I love my club I know so r u and all the other people on this site. They want to se something happening but the delay causing the frustration amongst all of them. But I am pretty sure they will be happy by end of July mid august.
Thanks
Gr8 1

And do you think we're looking at James Rodriguez?

Thanks Macca,

So we can put the Krasic rumour to bed aswell - always thought he may be too old for FSG

Lean Red

Hope your right macca my faith in fsg is fading daily

Thanx macca , its what i have thought but had no ev eidence of , the owners have always said they have the money to compete with the best , and that if a player who became available cost a lot of money then they would buy , they want to make us the beat again wich in turn will make them more money , and after kenny spending a lot of money on dross last season then they are more aware of letting money go so cheaply , plus its down to BR who he wants not us the fans

Woop cheers macca hope your right

Welcome back long time no see, thank you for making us feel better, it is just the time of year when we are anxious and want pool to get all the best players, keep us updated please.
Hibsylfc

I for one trust both the owners and Rodgers 100%. It would break my heart to see the same type of transfers coming in as last year. Young hungry players on long term contracts that will improve us as well as themselves along the way. Gentle susatained progress; no panic buying to try and jump those extra places in the league.....not anymore. Too much emphasis put on "how much" a player costs and should simply be a case of does he improve us. We have a new boss, with a great ethos and with his ambition and drive, with sensible backing from FSG, I can only see great times ahead and personally I'm willing to wait a couple of seasons or more to reap the rewards of our new look strategies. As a footnote....ANY player not 100% committed; must go. Regardless of stature. YNWA

Chreers pal, keep us posted :)

Rob

Nice to see u back fella! i hope your right, i allways keep the faith lol!

billynwa

James Rodriguez me thinks ?

Red man

That's quite a block of text to tell us

Nothing at all

Cheers macca mate for the info

Hopefully spending big means we will go for Gaston type over Sigurdsson type players...

Thanks Pal.

Cheers,
Chaki

What is happening to James rodriguez? i know Liverpool only mat have enquired about him, but it seems weird that he would go to manu, they have 3 wingers!

You answered it mate, lets hope liverpool are going for this kind of quality.redturk

26 Jun 2012 19:38:55
what are the chances of liverpool getting balzaretti?

26 Jun 2012 18:32:48
Liverpool defender,Agger is on the agenda of Real Madrid

And Lionel Messi's on ours but so what? we won't get him and they won't get Agger.

Not the end of the world if true, great player when fit, money may come in handy

If this is true I would love us to try to get Hummels

Its easy to understand why they would be interested, he is pure class and our best defender by a long way, i hope we don't sell though as he would be difficult to replace

Agger aint goin nowere hes got Liverpool in his blood,hes a viking warrior and loves to get stuck in not prance about in spain wth ronaldo and the gang drinking cocktails!

I herd this on twitter too but wasnt real madrid interested in glen johnson just before the euros .... its alll ball s**t

adamlfc

I'd take raul albiol, granero and alvaro morata only.

26 Jun 2012 18:07:44
We have improved our offer to siguardson. He will give an answer tomo

Lee

He going to spurs end of .

Is this true

We could offer Aquilani to Hoffenheim? You never know that might be tempting to them

Then we're improving our offer to the wrong person. We need to agree with Hoffenheim's valuation first.

Does no one on here read what Ed002 posts?

RDL

I hope we dont get him dont think he is all that

For what its worth, this has the feel of the Hazard scenario that we saw played out before the Euros, with each club meeting the asking price and agreeing personal terms, before he made his final decision.

One thing this club has always stood for is signing players that want to play for us. If Sigurdsson is only in it for the money, he can jog on to Spurs or somewhere else. Perhaps I'm overly sentimental, but wearing the Red of Liverpool should mean more than the cash in your pocket.

This must be Sig's mum

I'm not saying he's not going to Spurs, but how can you be so sure?

Who says he's off to Spurs? Skysports!

I believe it's true but cant guarentee it. Apparently problem is not transfer fee or the fact hed rather spurs just they are offering better wages. So we have now improved our offer but i'm not so sure that it is more than thier offer. The owners not willing to pay a silly amount mainly because we have alot of players who can cover the position already especially as Cole is coming back. Saying that they want him as he fits thier request for young tallent. I believe he has been told to sleep on it and decide tomorrow but whether the decision will be made public tomorrow i'm not so sure. Sorry know it's not a great deal of info but just saying what i was told.

Lee

Let him join spurs, clearly playing for liverpool and being with rogers is not enough. if the rumours are true

I hope we get him, alongside both Gerrard and Lucas we will have a quality midfield, if hes not used as a regular started he will be good player to rotate with Gerrard

No, as the problem is agreeing a fee with hoffenheim not sig as he is happy to join...

Thanks
Kindest Regards

Im sitting here in tomorrow and theres no answer

Liverpool to resign Michael Owen on a free to finish his career

So unbelievable, michael owen after playing for the mancs will never ever be welcome back to this club or city, everyone knows that, worst rumour ive heard!

If that doesn't get the comments flowing I don't know what will! LMAO

Ha, Ha - his career was finished a LONG time ago! ;-)
5uarezTimes

Why even waste your time?
Red Lee

His career was finished the day he left Real Madrid.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

And he'd maybe make 2 or 3 appearances all season just like his time with the Mancs!

A clever way to get a few comments on your post I must say.

SUMON VAI

If this post was even 10% true it would turn the fans against BR he knows the age that's required at the club now it really is a dumb post

Stoke bound that one.

Dirks Engine Room

His relationship with liverpool ended once he signed for utd.

It was finished the day he left Liverpool.

Sooty

Resign or Re-Sign

I would hate to see Judas back at Anfield, never will be forgiven....

The man is still talented but without morals I am sure I am not on my own when I say he will never be welcome back to liverpool he sold his soul hope he and his races horses are forever cursed

His career was finished the day he left Liverpool.

Ha ha good one, didnt know we now play in dubai

He was finished when he left LFC!.....Owen is a has been, nothing more than a stable boy now!...

I agree it is most unlikely he would be welcome back at Anfield. Fergusson knows his stuff though , the reason he was signed by utd was to assist in the development of Hernandez , Wellbeck etc. Similar to what Gary Mac brought to Liverpool. I suggested weeks ago that Berbatov could fulfill the same role for Liverpool.

Yer heard him and torres will have a partnership up front both ruined their careers after leaving us !

Humbug, his career is finished. would not want that mercenary ex Man Utd crock to ever wear a liverpool shirt again.
safa

He is going to Stroke and good riddance to him after playing for the Mancs

No he turned his back on he club so should always walk alone

26 Jun 2012 16:42:28
So according to sly Borini has stated there was never anything behing the romours linking him to LFC. That's another one we can strike off the list. I've heard that we are still in contention to sign Sigurdsson but he has been swayed by the promise of a greater likelehood of regular first team football at Spurs as they prepare for life without Modric. Apart from that, the only thing I've heard is that BR and the rest of the management team are keeping their plans very private but deals are being delayed because we haven't yet appointed a couple of people who will be involved in the transfer decision making process. BigJanFan

Transfers are always slow when euros and world cups are on. Window's not even open until Sunday. Be patient

Well if that's true then that's very unprofessional and sums up how Liverpool are being run at the moment.

You would think appointments like those would be of the highest importance and priority, gives you the impression that LFC is been run by a bunch of amateurs

Yeah just say stories everyone knows and pretend your ITK

Everyone has heard everything haven't they. Its funny how everyone hears things which keep contradicting other things people hear.

I thought LFC were playing their cards close to their chest. Must be wrong.

Just passing on what I've heard, don't shoot the messenger.

I don't see how they can offer him more first team football than us. He would surely be a regular at LFC. I think it is the wages we offered which were about 10K a week below Spurs by all accounts.
CR

It's funny how fans seems to think the club is being run by clowns.

Imagine if these so called fans were running the club. Dalglish in then out. Rafa in then out. I imagine the next one fans would call for is cara of hyppia, which would end very sadly.

Give Rodgers time to access the squad. He hasn't even had to time to meet all of the players yet, how would he know who he should really buy?

Exactly couldn't agree more! Give him a chance to look at the squad! The season will be well under way and the window will still be open. Lets have a bit of faith and see what BR thinks needs freshening not what a few people living in "if" world think. The truth is we have gone back to keeping cards close to the chest. We're not run by Dave Whelan!

26 Jun 2012 16:52:58
Well well well. All you babies on here cried and had fits because no-one else wanted Sigurdsson. Boo hoo if he's that good why don't other clubs want him.

Got what you wished for you spotty we brats. Now he's off to Tottenham.

Did Sigurdsson tell you him self

So much for his close working relationship with BR maybe he thinks BR will flop at Anfeild.

Tosca
PT77

What a pointless, ridiculous post.

a.) Not 'all' of us moaned when nobody was interested. 'All' is quite an encompassing term.
b.) There is no solid evidence yet that he is off to Tottenham, unless you have some inside knowledge you wish to share?
c.) Insulting everyone on the site just for sharing an opinion is both offensive and childish, if anyone sounds like the brat on here then it's you.

JP.

They can have him if its money he is about forget about him let spurs have him they will be bankrupt soon anyway the same way leeds went watch and see.

Spurs want him as he is ideal replacement for VDV

Bit of a worry though if we can't even sign a player that rogers is close to to a team currently manager less!

Luke

Sig going to spurs is a real kick in the teeth for lfc, really if we can`t attract players like him, what hopw do we have?

Another mug that cant wait to have a pop, why bother posting??
Keep your rubbish to yourself

Charlie

I dont think it is a pointless post at all!
I think it nails a problem that exists with this site - although it is paradoxically also one of the things that makes the site so addictive!
Its such a damned if you do damned if you dont kind of atmosphere.
Lets try and create a bit more of a supported if you do / supported if you dont kind of karma
With regard to your umbrage at the use of "all", there is a difference between "all you babies" and "you are all babies" - he/she was in fact addressing a very specific audience.

It is not certain if he is going to Spurs, his agent is duty bound to try and get him the best deal possible that is his job but at the end of the day it will be down to the player himself where he ends up as long as his clubs valuation is met. if he decides to go to Spurs for more wages then let him go, I would expect Rogers to know his value and what he is prepared to pay for him.

Luke made a good point totnhem is managerless suposidly (bbc) say that he wants regular football how can a managerless club guarentee a starting spot when each manager will have their own plans. I thinks it all bs lets just wait and see what happens as thats all we can do. Fsg arr going to try and get us back up there why would they buy us and let us waste away. Were one of if not the biggest clubs in this country why would they squander this opportunity to get us going again

Yeah, to be fair most did get what they want (he hasn't even gone to spurs yet mind). Because at lfc we want players who play for the shirt, not money. For 8m, there are still many very good talents who would jump at the chance to play for Liverpool. Just saying..

^
First of all, am new to this forum. So hello to everyone! (and to the Eds!). great job with the site.

Anyway, i'm fairly certain money plays a very important role in any decision for all these players. This is how they make a living after all. Not everyone can be a beckham or drogba, and make large sums of money past their prime. The security of even reaching that prime is also very uncertain in the sport given the many injuries, and other factors that come into play when it comes to football. that said, i'm not trying to attack your comment. i do agree that players who ask for ridiculous amounts, and would rather accept money over a winning club aren't the bunch that should head our lists. but as it stands (and as much as i hate to say it because i am not fond of tottenham at all), the spurs are becoming a team that consistently place in the upper half of the tables, very much like ourselves. and as such, it is important that liverpool is willing to spend significant amounts on players that they want to acquire to compete with other suitors. saw another post earlier that claimed BR is just waiting on some people who are important to the transfer process, before delving further into transfers. Hopefully this is true, and we start the ball rolling as soon as possible. (eds, sorry to bother, but is there any truth to that post?). the owners seem to be willing to shell out the funds anyway, so that's a good sign. still hoping sigurdsson signs for us. and hopefully a few more lads come in to help us out.

YNWA
NC from the PH.

No use speculating, it happens, it happens ans there's nothing we can do

Why do people get so worked up over anything posted on a "RUMOUR" site. If you want facts, then visit the official website. If it ain't there, then it hasn't happened. (yet !)

I must be the only one who didn't want him. He's average at best

BR cant steal a player from under the nose of swansea, but if it looks like he's going to tottenham he can! play the game

Did sig not leave hoffenheim because they got a new manager who did'nt play him if that was the case why would he join a team with no manager and no assurances

Eh

Rob

If we dont get siggurdson, then we still have SUSO, who is one of the brightest spanish midfielders coming through the youth ranks. I think his passing would fit perfectly into BR's ideas, as he passes as good as a young Alonso, and dribbles like David Silva!!

Trust.

The Sigurdsson Chronicles:
Is Sigurdsson being forced to join Spurs?
Sigurdsson cannot be forced to sign for a club that he does not wish to join. This is a simple transfer of a player. In order for it to go ahead, it is then necessary for any interested club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. So many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.

If a fee cannot be agreed between the clubs there will be an impasse and it ends there if an agreement cannot be negotiated.}
=======================
So Ed. Are you saying that we have never spoke to Sig or his representatives. Because we havnt agreed a fee with Hoffenheim?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96
======================

{Ed002's Note - No, I am well aware that Rodgers had spoken to Sigurdsson at least once but it would not have been a discussion involving any details of the package being offered. As to whether or not the club has spoken with his representatives regarding a deal for the player, I don't know the details but certainly his agent has permission to discuss the player with other clubs - and this would involve the financial package for the player. I think it is pretty safe to assume this has happened with Liverpool. In addition to this, Hoffenheim has had a commercial agent in London for couple of days or so but I do not know whether or not he has spoken with Spurs - but the implication is he did yesterday. Certainly he has had some dealings to discuss with another club in London and he also had to finalise a deal for an out of contract player to go on a pre-season trial at Hoffenheim. That is the latest I have this morning.
=======================
So Ed. Why are you so sure Kenny Huang wont be our new owner?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96
=======================
{Ed002's Note Just kidding.}

Bottom Line is Sigurdsson wanted to join spurs ahead of Liverpool. Spurs offered a better financial package. Deal done. Back to the drawing board for Liverpool although it may be a long summer.

Lol x

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

You have too much time on your hands.

26 Jun 2012 15:55:49
Ed is the same old names get mentioned on here, to the best of your Knowledge do liverpool have strong interest in anyone from outside Europe and do you think they are likely. I understand if you don't want to give names, I am just interested if we have serious options else where. Thanks in advance.
{Ed005's Note - There isn't anything solid on players outside of Europe to be honest.}

26 Jun 2012 15:46:33
Ed, do you know if there is any truth in the rumours that Gaston Ramirez's agent, is meeting us and City. In the next couple of days?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - You have been playing on Twitter again Blair. In reality I don't know Blair. I have explained the situation as far as I know it.}

I'm a boro fan so don't really care bout lfc but my cousin is mates with Adam Johnson and he has said he really wAnts to come to lfc it's nothing to do with wages it's city wanting the best deal ie skirtal in some form of exchange. Only telling you what I've been told.

I would rather keep skrtel. If man city want stupid money for AJ then they can keep him!
Red Lee

Its a shame really because these are the kind of players that we need, those who have a real desire to come to the club and have genuine talent. Heard a few months back he wanted to join us, and Kenny was very interested, can't see it happening now though 6 goals and 2 assists last year doesn't warrant 20 million in my eyes.

Downing 20 million no goals no assists in PL

(reply to the comment above)

6 goals and 2 Assists For 20 mil is a bargain compared to Downing

Does 0 goals and 0 assists warrant 20 mil in your eyes? because theres a man called stewart downing...

If he was really your mate & you were really just a boro supporter wouldnt you of said he really wants to play for lfc, not really wants to come to lfc?

lfcscott

26 Jun 2012 15:23:03
City set to bid in the region of £20m for skrtel this week, with Adam Johnson pushing for a move in the opposite direction. Wages are a stumbling block but AJ is believed to be willing to take a wage cut to get back into contention for the england squad

Toad

Middlesbrough to sign jonjo shelvey 4.2m + marvin emnes

Shelvey for 4.2M + emnes. Sounds like a good idea! Not sure jonjo would be too happy tho!
Red Lee

Shelvey isnt going anywhere hes a up an coming talent but jay spearing on the other hand is a useless bargaining chip

No thanks, Skertel is quality and is one of the core team, very reliable, and our best player last season. Johnson is a rat. Dpwning Johnson and Caroll, Oh please, what a nightmare

Johnsons a rat ? please, he has done well for us and carrol is getting better yeh downing isnt very good but johnson has done extremly better then downing

26 Jun 2012 15:11:28
Adam Johnson, Sigurdsson and a striker to sign. Watch this space

Lescott might sign if Agger and Skrtel sign for City

Would't want that crap lescott

Yeah lescott is crap :S muppet i love liverpool but we have no chance of gettin lescott

26 Jun 2012 14:52:20
Hi Ed's,

Any truth or anymore detail on the rumour LFC are looking at signing Andriy Yarmolenko?

Cheers,

Rascal Red {Ed002's Note - Yermolenko has been linked with AC Milan who have made a bid, Napoli, Palermo and PSG.}

26 Jun 2012 13:57:11
Spurs and Hoffenheim have agreed a fee over Glyfi Siggurdsson, His agent has agreed personal terms with Daniel Levy and he will have his medical tomorrow and sign a 4 year deal on Friday.

Can't sign Friday mate, transfer window isn't open, nice try

How can he possibly sign on Friday when the transfer window doesn't officially open until 1st July? I think you've just shot yourself in the foot regarding the validity of this post.

Haha ya dope

Eds, please tell us something about this. You've been very quiet about this story. Can't rest until I get confirmation from you guys.

brendan rodgers will sign aaron ramsey from arsenal ,guaranteed

He might be a bit out of our 2.50 budget range!

Hope so great player

They get more stupid by the minute!

Keith

Thought he was Fulham bound?

2.50 budget??? 105 million pumped into the club last year and we finished 8th stop blaming fsg when i dont blamwe them, and looking at what they did with there baseball team im sure that if rodgers believes a player is worth signing then there will be funds available!
weymouth red

Weymouth red, it wasn't 105 million at all on transfers as the amount we sold certain players for ie Torres and Babel, paid for Carroll and Suarez, there has been no major spending so far. FSG have cut the wage budget down significantly and have got us 2 major kit deals that will make us a lot of money, but don't expect 100s of millions being spent because that's not how they work, if they do spend big on somebody like Rondon, Ramirez etc expect another big player to be going the other way {Ed002's Note - Who has picked up the tab for over 100M in losses over the past two years?}

Would love this guy at liverpool plays the buck likes to.that post from weymouth red is great because there is a lot of negative vibes going about i think everyone is sickened the way spurs have moved in and stole siggi sly sports r reporting spurs are confident of completing the deal for him.

Who is guaranteeing it? You? Oh and since you never named yourself when you turn out to be wrong there'll be no reason to admit you were talking drivel!

Love this to happen, we have mutual friends Ill see what I can find out!!

I would love this to happen, but cannot see it, why would arsenal sell?

Actually did name myself ,dont know why it wasnt posted think my name is fairly self explanatory if you know what that means

ed do you know if its true that we have made a bid for Salomon Rondon? cheers! {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs and looked at and enquired about Rondon, but I don't know of any bids at this time.}

26 Jun 2012 13:17:59
Ed what's the story with maxi is he staying or going cheers mate. MATTYLFC {Ed002's Note - I expect he will leave.}

How long has Maxi have left on his contract? {Ed002's Note - A year.}

26 Jun 2012 13:11:23
Sigurdsson hasn't decided anything yet. Hoffenheim want a change in payment plans...

Gaston Ramirez' agent Pablo Bentacourt meeting Liverpool and Man City tomorrow...

KKM...

Gaston and sidgi would be great signing and I think it would a great start for the future for Liverpool fc

As a neutral i would prefer him to join liverpool than city

Both being attacking mids, I think Rodgers will only go for one of them.

Stop clutching at those straws mate spurs pay up front not on the drip.

So your trying to say spurs are a richer club than Liverpool? You donut

I don't fancy our chances against city.

26 Jun 2012 12:37:23
Ed how reliable a source is Sky Italia and Gazetta Dello Sport? They have both said Liverpool have bid £15 million pounds for Gaston Ramirez. I would think Sky italia would be pretty much the same as sly uk. So hopefully they are credible.
BLANCO7 {Ed002's Note - I have no idea how you measure reliability of such organisations, sorry.}

Can't find any anything on either sky Italia's or gazetta's websites on this. Hope to god it's true though!

Carl

Hope Man C do not get tired up in the bidding war. Otherwise no Gaston to Liverpool

How many players do city need seriously

26 Jun 2012 11:57:05
LFC have very little money available, and signings will be made up of player sales according to Rudolffo Borrel.

But if no money, no honey bunny!
LFC1954

And when did Rodolfo Borrel tell you that? Scouserseb

Yeah the groundsman told me that as well

I cant see liverpool buying any new players, we will just let everyone one else buy the top players, then we will be a relegation club next season

So the reserve team manager released this fact? Not our new manager or maybe the chairman? I'll wait until I see it in black and white because I don't for one second believe the club would allow Borrel to say this.If he's said anything it will likely be denied as "what he said was misinterpretated!"

We are so slow in transfer arsenal got already 2 striker and what are we waiting for? relegation battle

Is Rudolfo the mascot ?

We're not a big club anymore, just prestigious history and name, our era has come and gone and we've been left behind. sad really

When did he say that?

Rudolf the rednose raindeer? i see what u did there

Kaizer

If we cannot get into top 4 this year, it wont ever happen. i have started to believe that american owners want to make money by selling players and surviving in the PL. they do not appear to have real ambition.

Rudolffo the reindeer? He painted his nose red because he's a LFC fan

Didn't you try this rumour on saturday but you said you had been with him in carra's bar lol just thought you would try again eh why not say john henry's doctor or brendan's dentist maybe the chief tea lady lol

This is not far off the truth. The sooner we forget about the transfer window the better. The current squad will see us through the season and will finish a better 7th position. American business model is based on cost control (NVO reduction) and improving the bottom line.

In that case, sell Aquaman 2m, Kuyt 1m, spearing 1m and skrtel 22m and we have 26m to spend plus 2m from the carling cup. 28M isnt a bad budget. Os Red.

28m not bad we need 4 top players cant see much for 7m can you. ah well we have to support r team whatever happens looks like we r doomed to be outside top 4 forever unless we get dare i say it new jnvestment.

Bitch, p*ss and moan is all I'm reading on this site. Eds, fantastic job on putting up with all this.
League last season proved with little money, clever player purchases and players that want to play teams do well.
I read about someone complaining of if lucky, 28 million for transfers.
That fee last season would of bought Demba Ba, cabaye Cisse and Scott Parker. Four players that would have made a massive difference.
So to all complaining? Shut up and have faith.

Was a very proud supporter, but it seems dat liverpool is no more a top 4 club, its a pity that our beloved club is in such a shambles

I have pride for Liverpool wherever they finish. If we need to spend, we will, if we have limited funds then so be it, we are still Liverpool FC. We were close last year, just too much bad luck, too many bits of woodwork, but a team that tried none the less. I'm not happy with a non top four position, but I will always support the redmen

Finally ppl are seeing that liverpool are no longer a big club.well done for moving into the present and not living 20 years ago wen we wer good

For 28M i would say we could bring in Gaston Ramirez 16M if he wants to join and Sigurdsson 10M and also sign a couple of loan players with a purchase option.

I can only begin to imagine the atmosphere at anfield if it was filled with you lot of doomsday merchants. We really need to sign a player whose name rhymes with requiem.

I'm quite sure it is not the case that we have no money to spend. Fear-mongering like this is unlikely to help us in any way

26 Jun 2012 11:39:58
Hey Ed's would appreciate some kind of reply. Has Vertonghan actually stated he only wants tottenham? They are in the same boat as we are regarding no champions league plus they don't pay high wages aswell. I also think that having no manager would cause some problems, am I missing something? {Ed002's Note - You appear to be missing (a) he wants to move to Spurs, and (b) Liverpool have shown no interest in the player.}

Well put Ed

26 Jun 2012 11:36:59
@BenSmithBBC

LFC are still frontrunners ... deal is close now. Other clubs are interested but relationship between Sigurdsson and Rodgers is very, very strong. {Ed002's Note - I really doubt that this is the latest news I am afraid or Mr Smith is misleading you. The fun of Twitter.}

I hope this is true, but strong reports are saying he has joined spurs!

Yes ed002 that is an old tweet from Smithy.
Looks like other clubs have offer over a third more in wages than us
Hopefully we still get Siggy though

Cheers
South African YNWA

I think it is down to personal terms.I understand Spurs have offered 10K a week more than us. If the figures quoted are true I think we were just being damned tight fisted.
CR

So what do you believe is going on Ed002? Do you think that he is likely to go to Spurs? {Ed002's Note - I have explained the results of enquiring this morning - it is in a post from Blair.}

Can you post the link to your reply Ed002? Can't find Blair's comment this morning {Ed002's Note - Sure, 26 Jun 2012 09:09:34 on Banter.}

Goal claiming sigurdsson so sign for spurs instead - 8 mill.

Ben Smith has actually just said this in reply to an LFC fan:

Ben Smith @BenSmithBBC
@LfcTom210 Tom, Spurs now strong favourites as LFC were before them. I'll update when I know for sure.

26 Jun 2012 11:29:36
Hi eds, just wondering if there was any chance of Gaston Ramirez if the rumours are true about Sigurdsson, obviously disappointing but I have always rated Ramirez as long as we have been linked with him and think he'd really hit it off in the premier league, do you think he would be interested in such a move? Thanks

Scouserlewy {Ed002's Note - As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him. He was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial enquiry. They will not now listen to offers less than 18M euros. However, Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palermo and Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Spurs, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. Discussions took place between Bologna and Manchester City - adding to discussions that have taken place with Juventus and Napoli. I really don't know if a move to England would be something he would want.}

26 Jun 2012 11:10:53
long time reader, first time poster, if the rumours are true about the aqua man leaving where will he go? {Ed002's Note - Anywhere would do Liverpool.}

If you play for a side,ask your manager if he wants him?Anything to get rid of him!

I'd pay the fare

26 Jun 2012 10:55:17
With Spurs tryin to hijack our Gylfi deal and if u go off what's been said on this website they already have, and Liverpool in need of a centre back whether we sell Skertl and Agger or not, do the eds think its worth tryn to hijack their Vertonghen deal? Coz he's a good fairly young player, at a good price, it seems he's getting frustrated with the time Spurs are taking to sign him and the manger that wanted, Harry 'Al Capone' Redknapp, has left and no player likes the uncertainty of signing for a managerless club.

Please post my comment coz for some reason u guys don't seem to wana post any of my comments.

Geordie Scouse {Ed002's Note - I somehow doubt Liverpool will get involved in any tit-for-tat "hijacking" of players. At this time I don't see Vertonghen moving to Liverpool.}

Tottenham have agreed a fee for Vertonghen, it is Ajax not agreeing to his 15% of the transfer fee stopping the deal being concluded - he will end up at spurs as he has revealed his desire to go there

Football players are fickle and money talks. A knew we hadn't shown any interest in Vertonghen but a jus dont see why we don't throw a cheeky bid in and test the water. A know my message sounded like a wanted Liverpool to bid out of spite of Spurs, but that's not that a jus think it makes good football and business sense to throw a bid in.

Also I believe revealed his desire to join Liverpool. {Ed002's Note - And Arsenal.}

26 Jun 2012 10:49:41
eds, great site! do you think there is any chance of us getting schurrle, quality player that would be interested on the step up
ynwa {Ed002's Note - I very much doubt that you will see Schurrle playing for Liverpool next season.}

So ed according to you we dont have much chance of any player, might aswell pack up and go home then :). RedTurk {Ed002's Note - Again, that is a ridiculous thing to say to me. I have said nothing of the sort but if I am asked about a player who the club have shown no interest in whatsoever what response do you expect? It is the grizzling, bleating posts like this that are making things so much harder and driving the Editors away from dealing with the Liverpool posts.}

26 Jun 2012 08:43:22
just a guess...Siggurdsson wants to come to Liverpool but Hoffenheim are holding us to ransom since we can afford to pay a bit more than Swansea. He was being offered to Swansea at 6.8 I think. We will probably pay slightly more than this but he will eventually sign.

redkenyan {Ed002's Note - The agreement made between Hoffenheim and Swansea in January is absolutely no consequence to Liverpool at all. Sigurdsson cannot be forced to sign for a club that he does not want to, so it is all a matter of negotiation.}

Difficult to know what is happening with Siggurdson. Good that LFC keeping cards close to chest, so all is really speculation at the moment. Think that all agreed that Siggurdson would be a good signing for us. Obviously has a close relationship with BR, but if he decides that Spurs is better for him (money, opportunity etc.) then not really the type of player that we would want in any case..is he?? Personally, I can't see why any player would put Spurs above Liverpool other than short-term financial gain. If that is the case...then Siggurdson is not really for me.

I wonder if the reason Spurs "appear" to be winning the race to sign Sigurdsson is simply coz they have agreed a fee with Hoffenheim. Babbel stated last week that only Swansea had at that stage submitted a formal offer. I reckon Liverpool have yet to do this, but have been negotiating with his agent on personal terms. The truth of what's happening will unfold in the next few days, but I don't think its a done deal to Spurs yet

Maybe spurs see him as a replacement for Modric and have told him that?

dmedly

If Spurs are considering Gylfi as replacement for Modric then why they are negotiating with Real Madrid for Nuri Sahin as part of Modric deal.

Do we have the cash??

How about this for a thought he just sees spurs as a better team with better prospects.

26 Jun 2012 08:00:20
rumours coming out now that city are interested in agger, probably just lazy reporters, i hope so! have yous heard anything eds? {Ed002's Note - If Agger were available I would certainly see them being interested.}

But do you know if Agger is available Ed002?

AG {Ed002's Note - Unless he has told Liverpool that he wants to leave then I would expect that he is not. There was some talk toward the end of the season that he was not happy, but there has been nothing since.}

I would really be devastated if he leaves. had his name on my jersey for a few season now.

Kaizer

'Rumours coming out' = Talksport

Both are worth 25 mil in my eyes but I'd rather get rid of Skrtel because Agger on his day is the best CB in the prem.

BthekingB

I can't understand why people are worrying abour who we sign because with the Agger story it now seems we are selling our entire 1st team squad! Just another fevered story invented to cause uproar among Red supporters.

But he's not available...

The End.

RobbehLFC.

26 Jun 2012 07:59:51
Definitely think Sigursson is off to spuds
Very disappointed as he would have been a great addition to the squad, but what can we do?
If he decides to choose spuds for football reasons then fair enough, but money must have played a significant role, as it always does.
We were all so sure that he would be ours, now it's looking unlikely.
Bean

Why do you think that? What is your indication. People are jumping on a serious bandwagon here because Spurs are trying to sign him. We are trying to sign him and we have rodgers. I think that would make us favourites.

What makes you think he's off to (Managerless) Spurs? It's not like Spurs can offer him anything next season that Liverpool can't.

Spurs are in now way better off financially than liverpool so the idea of them being able to offer more wages to him than us is wide off the mark however I don't want to have offer him 70k+ in wages jus to secure his signature. Apparently from what I can gather he earns 77k a month at hoffenheim so somewhere in the region of 35-40k a week should be more than enough {Ed002's Note - The average first team squad wage at Liverpool is 60k, I would expect him to at least be given that.}

I was pretty sure Sigurrdson was holding out for a better deal being the fact it was dragging on.
I cannot believe it but itseems when the club find a player of real value for money they lose out to almost everyone wtf.

Why is it looking unlikely?

Journalist from the Echo says he's going to Spurs, Ben Smith from the BBC now says he's going to Spurs.

Lets sign belhanda

Time to accept he's going to Spurs, but what this says about BR i don't know as it looks a bit bad that he would rather play for BR at Swansea but not Liverpool.

We have not bid for him, does anyone read the posts

26 Jun 2012 07:52:25
Just spotted ian ayre getting on the virgin train at lime street going towards london euston, wonder if this has anything to do with summer transfers or just club marketing

How do u know where he is going to?

Obviously he is going to Wimbledon for the tennis.

Because i was on the train going to euston

It's alright him going, but is he coming back !!

Ayre is probably off to try negotiate an urgent deal for a player but will spend two weeks stuffing his face with strawberries and cream at Wimbledon first.

26 Jun 2012 07:51:11
Jason mcatter is a member at my golf club (bromborough) he said that Adam Johnson would jump at the chance to signing for us. He is honestly a member at the golf club, doesn't mean we're going to sign the lad tho
Davidlfc

So would I.......

Mrpjd

I think he'd rather sign for Sunderland. All round a better team, better manager and they can actually beat Liverpool. Don't count your chickens koptie..

Hopefully he goes to the Newcastle area !

26 Jun 2012 07:48:51
Hello Eds, Macca,

Can you please tell why it is taking us so long to sign Siggurdson? Why cannot we do like what Man U and Arsenal did with Kagawa and Podolski?

Please post and reply as this spurs rumour is very depressing.

Regards,

Ashish (fans from India) {Ed002's Note - In order to sign Sigurdsson Liverpool would need to make an offer acceptable to the club and player and reportedly this has not happened.}

Hi Ed002,

So does it mean that these Spurs rumours are not completely baseless and they are in with a real shot?

Regards,
Ashish (fan from India) {Ed002's Note - I said "reportedly" because I have had nothing as yet to confirm anything yet Ashish. I will see what I can find out.}

Thanks a lot Ed002. Please let us all know the actual status to stop all these rumours. Also is the reporter Ben Smith trustworthy? As he is saying that a deal has been struck with spurs.

Regards,

Ashish (fan from India) {Ed002's Note - Someone has suggested that Ben Smith assumed from a representative of Hoffenheim being in London that a deal had been done with Spurs - so perhaps he has been taken out of context. We knew of Spurs interest; what we still don't have any confirmation of is any agreement between the clubs and the player.}

Who's handling transfer negotiations at the club now Ed? Is it BR? {Ed002's Note - It is very unusual for a team manager to be involved in negotiations. Typically, for a club such as Liverpool, such matter would be handled by a commercial/contracts director/manager with a legal representative in tow.}

We didnt sign him earlier because he still had a loan contract with swansea and it may still run up until the 30th june and you cant go in to negotiations if swansea have first choice on the player

26 Jun 2012 05:30:38
Morning eds anything of jesus navas? He's a rodgers type player imo. Fast ams tricly winger too good for sevilla and if moved to real or barca he wouldn't get a game and a while back I rhink macca said we would be signing 2 people from spain couls he be 1 ? Cheers eds {Ed002's Note - No, he won't be. Try the search function.}

Navas would not sign for any club out of spain,as he gets really bad homesickness.Ok in a tournament but not on a permanent basis.He is renouned for this!

I don't think he'd move from Sevilla, let alone out of the country.

TSP

26 Jun 2012 01:06:56
Three independent sources claim Sigurdsson signing for Tottenham. Nothing for certain ofcourse, but where there is smoke there is fire. Perhaps we should focus on signing players from championship.

The sources were also sure that he was coming to us?
Wouldn't believe anything until its for certain

Other than the mail, what sources? Because if its web sites that reference papers then three may just be one.

What about smoke machines? No fire there.

Jolly Red

Yeah and soon we will be in the championship

26 Jun 2012 00:44:45
the way i see it is the SIGG might be going to spurs , i know the transfer window is shut , but our main rivals have agreed terms with the players they want , so why have we not done the same with SIGG , at least we would all know were we stand like chelsea and man utd fans do ,

We can not offer what those teams can, we seemingly can't even offer what spurs do either.
People say players all jump at the. Hence to play for lfc which in a way is true, the jump on a different plane and to a different club-we can only offer what we can, but it's not enough for the best and Liverpool should only accept the best

We are so slow that is why

Because this is Liverpool FC, not the plastics, or the Mancs, and the club have the right to conduct their business in the way they see fit. It's not even the end of June for christs sake.....

By main rivals I assume your talking about stoke, everton etc as we all accept Liverpool are not a big team anymore and can't compete with anyone out of the top 5!

Get ya sen felt.

I submitted the post above , and i forgot to mention arsenal , who have got podolski and now girud , they dont pay as much as us and they are in the europa league , what i think is , that because kenny spent so much on shjte like DOWNING , HENDERSON AND ADAM , that they dont want to be fooled into other flops , which as buisness men they have every right to do , i reckon they have the money to go head to head with other teams ffor a top player but they wont just do it on a whim

26 Jun 2012 00:42:34
Sigurdsson gone to Spurs.. very disappointing! They simply offered a better package both in wages and fee.
The Gooch

26 Jun 2012 05:54:48
A Rally call for Macca to say something please!

Whats the point, he can only tell what he knows and when he knows something he usually posts it, so im thinking there is no news coming out of liverpool either because they are running a tight ship or have nothing to say. Transfer window isnt open yet either and it would be stupid to count your money in public regardless of how much you have to spend

26 Jun 2012 04:40:37
I think Siggy to Spurs is rubbish.....with all the buildup to the transfer window...I think everyone's heads are spinning and a lot of things are going to happen between now and July 1st concerning any potential targets. Until it is set in stone....its all hear say...but I think he knows, like we all do, that he has played his best footy under BR.

Neil Jones from the echo sayin Sig has joined tottenham

Stevo {Ed005's Note - No he didn't.}

Where do I begin, first of all no other media outlet has carried the news except for the original claim from Bild which is the German equivalent of The Sun. It is a right wing tabloid which only claim to fame happens to be that for the longest time they had a topless woman on every front page. Neil Jones (or someone who claims to be him) DID say on twitter that he had heard from a German source that Sigurdsson was off to Spurs. He also said the same source had told him a week ago that Sig was nailed on to join LFC. That's it! I want the lad to sign, but if he does not I won't lose sleep over it! He is good, but there are other good footballers out there we can get. Also, I started an 8 week holiday today, so life is good.

Canadian Fan

Most people are saying Sig has gone to Spurs. If so this is a massive blow to Rogers as Sig looked like his best chance of signing a quality player at a decent price.Maybe Spurs have offered him Modric's shirt and salary ?
CR

The sources saying it are regurgitating the German source. If there was real news about it then it would be in the Echo proper or another more reputable source. The best source does not get it right 50% of the time so lets just wait and see hey.

Spurs have no manager why would anyone sign for them yet?

25 Jun 2012 22:38:23
Eds do you still expect Gylfi to sign for us or are tottenham a real player? Can we expect any news on this in the next few days or will it be next week? Also do you think we will look to wrap up our transfers early in the window? {Ed005's Note - I still expect him to come here mate if I'm being honest. What can Tottenham offer that we can't if you are being totally honest?}

Better team that we have at the moment that what they can offer

Surely the likely return of Aquilani and Cole are fundamental in all this? Can't see FSG being happy to sign a central player with two coming back who are both on high wages... seems that if we can't get rid of either Cole or Aquilani then Sigurdsson will not be bankrolled.

Liverpool will need to let some of the deadwood go before making any new signings. As we are not champions league side any more the money is not readilly available

25 Jun 2012 22:08:26
Hi, Eds is there any new news on tello? do we still have a chance of signing him? {Ed005's Note - A chance but that's it. To be totally honest I think the only reason his name is associated with us is Dalglish's interest - BR may have different ideas.}

25 Jun 2012 21:39:55
Currently a few rumours going round that Kuban Krasnodar manager Dan Petrescu has said Lacina Traore is going to Liverpool/there is interest from Liverpool. Can any Ed's confirm this please? {Ed005's Note - Heard nothing but at the moment I really don't think he's the type of striker Liverpool are looking for.}

25 Jun 2012 21:16:23
Sup eds , with scot sinclair of swansea , given an ultimatium to sign a contract extension or be sold . If liverpool met his price tag could we sign him ? Considering swansea would want money 2 spend on new players {Ed005's Note - We could but I hope not. Doesn't work very hard off the ball - one of our main problems this year, no end product, not a great finisher, so predictable. A worse version of Babel in my opinion.}

Spot on ed. i live in swansea and went to the liberty a few rimes last season,sinclair is simply not good enough for liverpool and br knows it

25 Jun 2012 21:05:42
Ed,
is there any interest from Liverpool in Schrrle?
Would be a great signing, better than Podolski for Arsenal. {Ed005's Note - There is none at the moment.}
