Hi Eds. Any idea if Julian Brant might be an alternative to Fekir? I know he was our first choice target before we got Salah but have we watched the player after this? Thx.

{Ed002's Note - Right now I would think not.}

What does everyone think of Fekir at the World Cup so far?
I haven't been impressed at all, to be honest.
The lad Musa in the Nigerian team on the other hand, fantastic.

Never ever buy a player on the basis of a World Cup performance.

I think we should buy Iceland’s Rurik Gislason based on the World Cup. He is a very handsome man.

The same Musa that flopped at Leicester?

Agree9 Disagree2

26 Jun 2018 23:52:50
Juicer I assume that's sarcasm? Did you watch Musa at Leicester?

Agree8 Disagree2

27 Jun 2018 01:15:10
Musa flopped at Leicester just like Salah flopped at Chelsea.

Agree11 Disagree7

27 Jun 2018 05:51:04
Agreed Rosbow.
Musa has probably been the stand-out wide man of the tournament so far, for me, although it's a shame that's the last we'll see of him in Russia.
Leicester has nothing to do with it, he's been very good in every game and caused problems for all three opponents in a tough group.

Fakir, we'll see. At least his price tag hasn't rocketed up yet.

Agree1 Disagree7

{Ed001's Note - Musa has been like it for years, revels in the space and time given to him in international football, then struggles in club football.}

27 Jun 2018 06:04:38
Very good goal return in Russian club football ed001?
Better than a 1 in 3?

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - as a striker in a weak league. It is not 'very good', 1 in 2 would be. He doesn't play wide there in the main.}

27 Jun 2018 06:10:32
Oumar Niasse pretty much had a 1 in 2 record in Russia and he’s rubbish.

Agree7 Disagree1

27 Jun 2018 07:20:28
Niasse plays for Everton though, Messi would struggle there at the minute.

Musa was given game time at Leicester but couldn’t hack it. Salah wasn’t given that at Chelsea.

27 Jun 2018 07:58:21
FranklyMrShankly, I agree.

Still curse Houllier for signing Diouf instead of Anelka.

That croatian defender has had a good tournament so far. We should look at him. Lovren I think he is called.

Agree10 Disagree2

27 Jun 2018 08:54:32
The other point to make is that Musa isn’t a number ten like Coutinho or Fekir. He’s a very one dimensional winger.

Agree6 Disagree1

28 Jun 2018 10:03:15
not sure if the Musa comment was a joke?

Fekir was almost the game changer against Denmark. post stinks of someone who has never watched him play league football before.

Evening all,

Not something I do regularly, however I am friends with Kelvin Davis at Southampton, who has suggested Southampton have an interest in Danny Ings, this pre dates any suggestion Ings wanted to go for regular football. He is not aware of any official approach, however, appears to be of the opinion ( which I assume is well placed) that he is one of a few they hold an interest in. I had hoped he would workout for the club, proven an extremely likeable character, whether it be Southampton or indeed anyone else, I hope he finds a way of fulfilling the clear promise.

All the best

Jay.

Ings leaving shouldn't be a surprise I said this months ago, Newcastle still interested as are Bournemouth.

I'm sure no one appreciates what it's means to be on the pitch playing more than him after his injuries. Wish him all the best and his attitude will infect other's I'm sure.

Apparently Ings is looking for a move away from Liverpool, any truth to this? I think it was Ed1 who called this a few weeks ago and now it's coming true (sorry if it wasn't you Ed, might've been somebody else) .

If this is true good luck to him, I don't blame him if he does want to leave, he's hardly going to get game time here. I reckon he'll do really well elsewhere should he remain injury free.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he wants regular football.}

26 Jun 2018 12:42:14
I imagine there will be a big interest in him.

Champions league final probably made his mind up for him plus the fact he's not looking at much starting time next year.

Hope to see him banging them in for someone next season.

What would liverpool be looking for him 15-20 million?

If fulham got interested i wouldn't mind him being use as makeweight for a potential sessegnon deal.

26 Jun 2018 13:43:51
Thing ings has got a lot of quality and will flourish in another side with regular starts.
Good luck to him.

26 Jun 2018 14:11:15
Clearly has lots of heart but is not technically gifted, feel sorry for him but we need to stop buying players who have a good game or two against us, we did much the same to Aspas only he was one that got away in the end, Inge should go back to Burnley.

Agree4 Disagree10

26 Jun 2018 14:20:38
It’s a shame that in three seasons we never got to see what he could do. Hope it works out for him.

Agree6 Disagree0

26 Jun 2018 17:44:30
I know he wants to go but it would b a huge mistake by us. Played quite well at the back end of the season. English striker 26yo who will go for about 15million. I’d rather him than Origi.

Agree3 Disagree4

27 Jun 2018 08:36:43
Fowlersgod I strongly disagree with all your points. A 'huge mistake' He had stinkers at the back end of the season, which games are you referring to? Poor against Everton and especially vs Stoke, never did anything much off the bench except look off the pace and scored 1 goal agiants West Brom, a nice memory for the lad but that was it. a midtable 26yo striker who has barely played any football in 3 years? I'd snap up 15mil. I hope Origi signs a new contract to retain his value and takes Ings place in the squad, then scores some goals and helps us win some silverware. That makes more sense to me. Anyway, Origi wants to stay and give it a shot while Ings wants to leave, so it's a pointless discussion really. For me though Firmino/ Origi/ Solanke/ Brewster is plenty of depth of strikers.
