Hi eds do Liverpool hold an interest in Sam Byram from Leeds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He isone of several left backs the club has looked at.

Everton, Southampton, Swansea, Sunderland and West Ham have all maintained an interest in Leeds' Sam Byram. Liverpool, Newcastle and Arsenal have had him watched but it is now Aston Villa who are making an active effort to bring Byram to the Premier League.}

Cheers for that, can you see Liverpool making an offer for him? And is he ready for the step up yet?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - With Moreno, Smith and Gomez (to return) and even with Enrique to depart at some point it is hard to see where he would get a game unless the club were to play him as a left winger - and that may be an option. If however one of the three were to move on in the summer, then he would be a good buy in January as he is out of contract in the summer - Leeds will fight for a new deal. Not totally out of the question.}

I thought he was a right back.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yep, sorry. Clyne, Flanagan then. It won't be as a right winger.}

28 Dec 2015 19:32:39
If Flanagan can get back to the level he was at in 2013/ 14 (when he was playing out of position by the way), then I think he can be our right-back for the next decade and would have the potential to be our best right back since Rob Jones.

{Ed002's Note - And Clyne?}

28 Dec 2015 20:04:19
Ed002. Regarding your comment on Clyne, is it your assertion that because he (or any player in any position at any club for that matter) is the incumbent, the position remains theirs for as long as they want? If Flanagan returns fit and unincumbered in terms of returning to 13/ 14 form, I think he's the better full back. Clyne (or any other player who is no longer the best option in his position) would stay in the squad (you need more than one player for each position, right? ) and if Flanagan loses form or Clyne ups his level, then he would win his place back. On the other hand, if a brilliant new full back comes through the ranks, then Flanagan and Clyne would both slip down the pecking order. A simple principle I would have thought and a slightly odd question (albeit hypothetical at the moment) .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, but I would also point out the declared interest in another right back, the lengthy lay off and Flanagan's contract soon to expire.}
