Stop with the wish lists and the guessing games (probably from the younger subscribers). Look at comolli's past record and look who he signed for spurs also listen to what nesv have said. There is no specific funds, they will only buy young talent with potential. Forget all the big names on here. I guess (because no one on here knows) no more than one signing in jan and it will be someone where not expecting (perhaps even never heard of). I think we should get used to the idea of 2 to 5 years of remodelling both the team and the whole ethos of the club. I firmly believe nesv are here for the long haul and do have the best interests of the club at heart. They said it will take time and they will make mistakes lets give them that chance. . .

Well this isn't 100% true. Ofcourse they want good young players, who wouldn't. But they will likely go after more established players too. When Theo Epstein took over the Red Sox he said he wanted to become a player development machine that didn't rely on big free agent signings. Well that didn't stop them from trading or signing Curt Schilling, Keith Foulke, Josh Beckett, Mike Lowell, Adrian Beltre, JD Drew, John Lackey, Victor Martinez and more established stars. NESV will look to bring in a blend of young and established players. They just won't sign older players who are clearly past their primes. They will sign players in the 26-28 range however. They arent bringing in a bunch of teenagers.you make some valid points but i think we need a touch of realism with some of the names banded about on here. Honda is a possibility but only if they see an opportunity to open up the brand to his part of the world. But Schweinsteiger, Mata et al will not be coming for uefa cup football at best. This is and the summer are probably the most vital transfer markets in the clubs recent history (Ive been watching since john walks first season.) and can't remember a more telling time. My thanks go to Mr Broughton and his team and I think who we sign in the next two transfers will determine the way forward. but although i wish for an aguero or mata I can't see it happening (just hope KK has a big say and we don't see the likes of swp or c cole

Dont rely on the headlines read the article and the quotes example:

In actual fact no mention of chaos from Pepe he held his hands up and said it was the responsibility of the players to get us out of this mess as it was they who got us here.

Ed,

In the past month, Reina has come out in the media twice or thrice insisting that owners spend. . . Are we seeing a build up from the senior guys to get NESV to quality players in January?

Looks like the Spanish camp is not very happy at the moment? . . .

Pritam {ed's note - it is clear to everyone that we lack quality players and have an over-abundance of squad players, Reina is just saying what we all think.}

South African YNWA

{Editor's Note: Folks want Aquilani back because of his performances in Serie A this season. He was in a really tough position at Liverpool because the previous manager bought him when he was injured and we knew then he would miss at least the first three months of the season. However, he was never happy at Liverpool - being injured for the first three months must have been hard on him - and he is enjoying his time with Juventus. He has made it absolutely clear on a number occasions that he wishes to leave Liverpool permanently so I do not expect to see him come back. I think you "source" at Real Madrid has been having you on about Benzema and Canales. Although he is now playing regularly for Real Madrid, Benzema has an indictment hanging over him still and I very much doubt that a transfer is in the offing in January. If Sergio Canales goes out on loan to build experience it will likely be back to Santander - it will certainly not be to the EPL.}

Ed, I think you are dead right there. . . . . We should not touch Benzema. . . Jose always talks up players he wants out. . . . . Just look at Ibrahamovich. . . . He had him sold to Barca for what I consider to be 67 million euros deal. . . .Never trust Morinho's press statements, leave the trust factor to his players. . . .he just plays with the press and media. . . . .

Canales is more a Guti kinda player. . . He shouldnt move to EPL. . . .

Matias Defederico has been voicing his frustration on twitter about whatever his situation is. Hope we do make a move for him, he'd be a boss free transfer, he looks good from what i can see on youtube. I had a look on twitter for myself but I can't understand what it says! lol
I think we should go for Arda Turan as well.

Editor all these names are floating around, but editor what are the REALISTIC targets LFC will look to bring in Jan? Personally I would love to see only three signings brought in: Honda, Sanchez, Cassano. Although the volatile temperament, the skill Cassano has to offer is incredible and the prospect of playing together with Torres is exciting, together with the fact of a free transfer to LFC. I think we do have a chance of capturing Sanchez as Man Utd are looking to bring in Ashley Young. Sanchez has incredible skill and is young, and at about 23 million would be a great capture. Honda has always been on Liverpool's radar and should be available at around 14 million. Editor would much appreciate your views, as well as your targets as everyone else are posting some crazy stuff. {ed's note - to be honest nobody knows, with the transfers being done by committee it is very difficult to get any kind of idea. The club has also done a lot to shut down all the leaks that have plagued it in recent years. But I would expect Honda to be, at the very least, in consideration, and I would also like to see us sign Sanchez. Not convinced on Cassano though, apart from his laziness in training and tendency to put on weight, he has also managed to cause problems at every club he has been.}

Mathias Defederico looks like a quality player (next Higuain) but I think if he is available on a free transfer then there will be plenty of other clubs interested. Honda looks like the most likely player coming to Liverpool. He's cheap(£10mil), young, World Class, and shirt sales in Asia would pay for itself. I heard Shawcross is top target as well.

Hey ed, you think we could sign honda and dempsey? I think they're two good signings for us. YNWA {ed's note - we could easily get both, they would both be keen on a move to us, but I don't think we will get either in January, despite Honda's pleas for the move. Looks like the most we will get is a striker and a defender this January.}

Matías Defederico is about to tear up his contract with Corinthians, due to contract mishap, and would be available on a free transfer. He's also unhappy with the special treatment given to "fat" Ronaldo, as he feels like he's outcasted somewhat at the club.
He is seeking a move to the prem, or La Liga. He has in the past said that he likes Liverpool (due to 2005 champs league). I think he could be a steal and he's only 21 with loads of potential.

To all you that say that citeh won't sell to there rivals are talking rubbish! Do you think that quality players like A Johnson and SWP are going to play in the championship>>>> get a grip! !
A Johnson and M Richards to us in Jan happy days.

Ed what do you think of this post.
footy 10 {ed's note - anyone that calls SWP a quality player clearly knows nothing about football, I think that says it all.}

Today roy hodgson has announced that he likes the players he has and doesn't intend on letting anybody go. however he does admit that some offers might come in that the club feel is good enough to sell. he also stated that he will only be strengthening his side with two players in january, any ideas who they might be, rumours where - - (M'villa and Griezmann)

Couple of wingers hopefully. I'd be happy with Griezmann (seen him against A.Madrid and was really impressed). Would love the other signing to be Honda and I think we could get both for under £20m which is great business.

Ed please explain to me why people want Aquaman back? He does not suit the EPL. He's good in Italy yes! but not good enough for EPL. Same situation as Diego Forlan, in that he is good in Spain but not in EPL.

On to more serious matters. My Real Madrid source says we have a good chance of getting Benzeman, just a matter of whether we can walk the walk, instead of just talking the talk.

He advices we also look to bring in Caneles on loan as he could use the game time. This kid is brilliant and could add some much needed creativity in our team. He is a CAM incase you were wondering

{EDitor's Note: No, potential players will be identified by a group involving scouts, Comolli, Hodson et al and then approval for any transfers will be granted, probably, by Tom Werner. If you don't like the January signings you will not be able to blame Hodgson alone.}

i like the fact transfers will be considered by a few ppl and not just hodgson means everyone can have there say and talk bout the and bad things bout players instead of manager jus saying yeah i like him i want him they can get players they all agree is good enough

Thanks to the poster that confirmed every line with the word 'FACT' at the end.
I was beginning to despair that every post on here was complete bollocks and the only sense was spoken by the Ed - but now it says 'FACT' I can believe every word.

Had a chat with a good friend of Micha Richards - Told me the deal was done to take the defender to Liverpool in January - Had no idea about the fee etc., but said he had bee assured of regular first team football in his favoured centre back role - Does this mean Agger is off? (be surprised due to his injury, but stranger things have happened! ).

He also said another player from City is following Richards, who is, Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Just an interested note- He said the entire City squad has had enough of the managers strange ways and training techniques and have, collectively, made thier views known to the directors, so expect a change soon !

Ed is there any truth that hodgson will be given 30mil to spend in the transfer window??

Hi guys i have a few facts to share from an ex premiership footballer who is now a coach!
NESV will not spend a penny in January, Roy will have to sell before he can buy. FACT
Pachero will leave in January (personally i think hes not strong enough for the premiership). FACT
We will have a new manager in the Summer (don't no who but my source reckons it could be Van Gaal). FACT
Torres and Reina will not leave in the Summer. FACT

These facts have come from an ex player who has alot of friends within LFC! believe if u want or not!

The only way city will let johnson go is if they have 1st dibs on torres should he decide 2 leave.

Not bulls* t sky sports news were reporting him one of 5 players Liverpool were looking to sign last window as a striker! So get off ya high horse an think about it for a second he would do well at Liverpool an hes better then Babel anyday

WHAT? Do you mean the same Robbie Keane that played for us for six months and was a pile of crap?
If he was awful then how can he be any better 2 years later? Also he is now 30ish so too old for what the new managment is after and being better than Babel does not mean you're a good player my grandmother is better than him and she died 16 years ago!

ED any truth in aqualani being recalled? I personally didn't want to see him go given our paper thin squad. . however missing 3 games with a cold last season for me says use and abuse him then sell him. . but when the cavalry come in the summer
Loved Poulsens article in the echo the other day "youve not seen the best of me yet"! that shocked me, !. . . {ed's note - a January recall has already been ruled out mate.}
