Hi ed, what you said about Tony Barrett was a absolute disgrace! Who are yor to say what you said? {ed's note - grow up, I gave an opinion on a man who took Murdoch's money, I am entitled to it whether you like it or not.}

Looks like Fernando will be leaving in the next few days then. Every paper has got the headline that he wants to leave and most journalists on twitter also have it down as him leaving. I would be absolutely devastated to lose nando but i am coming to terms with the fact that he will in all probability, be running out in a blue shirt against us next sunday.

A very upset reds fan.

Have you heard anything about Taye taiwo? Aston villa not willing to loan us Warnock because they demand that we pay them £500,000 and pay his full salary. Last time i checked taiwo has 6 months left on his contract. Has he signed a new contract? spurs' interest was also reported a while ago. He will definitely improve us a lot.

Ed please post this on rumuor.

This is not intended to stir up trouble but I have just received some shocking news that Torres has indeed asked (verbal) to leave the club from a very reliable source, I wish I could tell you who but it's impossible for many reasons. It is looking pretty bleak to say the least. My source, like myself is devastated after learning of this news as the signs within the club recently have been overwhelmingly positive (even though Torres has been rather subdued). The hope is the board may dig their heals in till the summer at best.

What will be will be and this club will continue to be the life blood for millions with or without Torres. Please don't shoot the messenger, I had doubts about sharing this information but I think it is only fair to share what we know.

Chelsea are preparing to increase their offer for Fernando Torres in order to secure the striker's arrival before the transfer window closes on Monday, according to reports.

After having a bid of £35 million turned down on Thursday, The Times claim Chelsea are now set to offer £40 million plus striker Daniel Sturridge, who was the subject of a loan enquiry by Liverpool in December.

Hope Kenny sprays his magic dust and persuades Torres to stay.
I think with Torres and Suarez up front with Mireles and Gerrard behind it will be madness for him to go, just look at it every defence in the world will tremble at the fact this is what they have got to contend with.Look to the future Nando LFC are now on the way up and CFC are having to rebuild themselves.Look what happened to Michael owen he left in 2004 to better himself went to real madrid and sat on the bench.2005 LFC win euro cup 2006 win fa cup bet owen was gutted.
Over to you ED

Ed, Not that i'm into believing or making conspiracy theories, but. .Liverpool announced the Saurez offer being accepted earlier this evening having seemingly increased the bid from 13m to close 23m! Ok great news! This seems to have happened following the Chelsea bid and subsequently ( if we believe certain rumours), after Torres had expressed a desire to move to Chelsea. .Do you think there is any chance that Liverpool increased the Saurez bid because they thought it likely that they would be letting Nando go. .?

RedAndy {ed's note - no, the Suarez price was always going to be higher than the initial offer, it was just a negotiation.}

()()

28 Jan 2011 22:34:35
Ed, you're dead wrong about Tony Barrett. He's a die-hard Red from Liverpool, a socialist and absolutely would have no reason to make any of this up. Wish I was wrong by the way but. . {ed's note - I know exactly who he is, but he sold his soul to Murdoch and is not in the slightest trustworthy. Socialism has obviously gone out of his window when Murdoch waved a pay cheque in his face.}

When & If this is all over & proves to be more bull about Torres our fans should take a class action law suit against Sky for being liars and anti LFC scumbags

El nino hands in transfer request according to tony evans the times. i would normally ignore anything he says but he said the story comes from tony barret (former echo) who goes to my gym total fitniss edge lane, i think there's a storm starting to blow

()()

28 Jan 2011 22:32:42
Ed- you say it makes no sense to sell him? But what happens if he puts in a transfer request or just asks to leave (as being reported)? Surely we can't keep an unhappy player- it would have a serious effect on the team. {ed's note - that would change the situation, but I would hope that Dalglish could sort his head out if anyone could.}

Although Guillem Balague broke the "news" that Torres wanted Liverpool to listen to Chelsea, he also said that there was no truth in the £50m clause in his contract.

Despite this SSN still say that there is a clause and that Chelsea will exploit it.

Are they deaf or just stupid? or both

Bel - deaf Unbel - Stupid {ed's note - Barrett says Balague's soruces are impeccable, then says there is a clause! They make it up as they go along sometimes.}

Liverpool will look at David silva of man city in a suprise 25 m deal he is best mates with Torres and shud keep him happy. Also expect a move for mascherano who is unhappy at Barcelona on the subs bench. War do u think Ed? {ed's note - not a chance of either.}

Every football journalist worth their salt are tweeting that Torres has definitely informed LFC (by phone apparently) that he wants to join Chelsea. Not making this up. .check out Tony Barrett, Rory Smith, Guillem Ballague, Phil McNulty. .all local (apart from GB) who write for Times, Telegraph, BBC. If he wants to go, we should sell him. .no less than £50m. NO-ONE is bigger than Liverpool FC, NO-ONE.

()()

28 Jan 2011 22:24:36
The latest seems to be that there is in fact a release clause that was inserted by Purslow for £50m. It all seems to originate from Barrett but he appears pretty sure on this one.

28 Jan 2011 22:23:42
Upto Nando now, but if he goes, LFC will sign Lukaku for 25million. Just as many rumours say he's staying as he's leaving. 50:50. Wouldn't mind seeing Suarez and Lukaku up front.

()()

28 Jan 2011 22:22:28
This isn't a rumour, Ed, who else, if any one, do you think we'll sign?
Adam maybe?
and are Turan and Honda still options?

Cheers Ed, thanks! {ed's note - still hopeful on Adam, Honda is still an option but he has Asian Cup at the mo. There is still moves afoot, Comolli apparently rushed off the moment the deal was agreed with Ajax. I expect Adam done tomorrow and at least one other before the window shuts.}

Dear Ed. Why is every body believing nando wants off? Yes when woy was in he didn't look interested. Simple. Now kk is in charge we have a new player. If he wasn't loving the club again why try? All this s**t he wants to talk to chelsea then let him. He might as well sign for the mancs? Nobody is bigger than the club so if he wants off see ya. Can't see it at mo. Yes he has been promised the earth(never happened) but the yanks I think mean business. I.e our signing today. So why? Utter s**t I think. I think we will sign a couple more and I think there will be a suprise. Please print cheers

TORRES to come out tomorrow and squash rumors, this has been confirmed on lfc tv, ! Let's hope there telling there truth, I think this has to be one big media scandal, !? What do you think eds, {ed's note - I don't believe the rumours, everything I have been told about Torres says the opposite.}

Right lets put the torres stories to bed.

1, sky sports owns sky bet (you work it our)
2, he didn't leave under h&g so why eave now when there is money avail.
3, he ha a liverpool tat not a chelsea one
4, sky sports, the sun, ssn etc are sh_ e for rumours they believe what ever people say. if you said messy was going to united they would believe it.

and don't you think as torres has not come out to say anything yet that this is an lfc smokescreen to avert attention from another big possible signing.

also to all you idiots who are saying we signed suarez cus torres is leaving well if you can cast you small mind back a week or so kk told everyone along with nesv that deals would be done in last few days of window, so is it really a surprise.

some of you fans should not be allowed to support our great club, because you are small minded and believe everything you hear ( oh wait your just like sky sports

No he didn't! And until we here something official from El Nino himself I wouldn't lose sleep on it

Hi Ed, news coming from SSN is that Torres has contacted Liverpool himself and stated that he wants to leave in this transfer window. are they just full of s**t, trying to cause ruptions within the club?? if he wants to go why won't he just come out and tell us, we have stood by him throughout his injuries, now is the time for him to give it back. . any thoughts on this anyone?? ?

Redthroughandthrough.

28 Jan 2011 22:13:40
Guillem Ballegue is a 'La Liga' pundit for Sky. How does he know that Torres wants to leave? Just coz hes spanish doesn't mean that he knows what every spaniard in england is thinking! only two weeks or so ago Torres himself (HIMSELF) committed his future to the club. However sky now claim that he 'contacted the club and told them he wants to leave'?? hmmmm. . . . . . . ?? this is all a little rushed, unexpected and im sure he is worth more than £35m! i have heard TWICE from the horses mouth (TORRES) that he wants to stay at anfield and fight for the cause but until i hear him say 'he wants to leave' then it is all coddswollop! also, only sky and talksport (sky owned) have broke the story. i can't find the story on BBC or ESPN or any other reputable sports site. so again i am starting to believe that i can have an easy night and this will all blow over. on the other hand, noone is bigger than liverpool and if you can't play for KK then u don't deserve to play for anyone! how football has changed. . .

ED
Is it worth believing what sky sports are now saying in that torres rang up this afternoon saying he wants to leave?

Stu. {ed's note - hard to say, the story is originating from Tony Evans, but leaks were supposed to have been shut down at the club. So it is difficult to see where he could have got this from unless it was Torres' agent or his imagination.}

Cheers Ed! Makes me feel a bit more confident! The chavs are on the down anyways and we are on the up! I'm pretty sure we'll be back where we belong sooner rather than later! Just have too get through these last couple of days before the window slams shut! And hopefully nandos still here and possibly a couple off more new faces has come too the club! Y.N.W.A!

Typical of all the Liverpool haters to start all this crap again about torres.

Whats being said now is all old news, and I firmly believe that Torres has no intention of leaving us. We have signed a player today that shows ambition and with our King back on his thrown and giving all players a new lease of life to play the game and where their heart on their sleeves, why would Torres now decide enoughs enough?

Lets look at it from another angle. . .

If you were Fernando Torres and had all this love he has had the last few years, would you seriously consider leaving a club that loves you, pays you well, has ambition and hunger to start winning things again and has a LEGEND of a gaffer in charge of the team week in week out, would you really think of joining a club who is also sliding backwards, needs to rebuild, has an ongoing battle with an owner who changes manager every season? ?

These audacious chelski bids are a sign of desperation, they have had no success signing huge players for many years now, and have been turned down by many big name players, it is quite pathetic to see the desperate acts to salvage their season.

What you make of it all ed, do you really think torres wants to live in london and where blue on his red back?

LFC Till I Die {ed's note - no I don't.}

28 Jan 2011 22:10:16
{ed's note - Tony Barrett is not reliable he works for the Times, which is the S*n's sister paper, a Murdoch puppet. Torres wasn't happy under Roy, but I was told by one of the players that he was loving working under Dalglish and was looking forward to the future about a week ago. I can't believe that would have changed just as things start to look up! On that basis I will wait and see what comes out from Torres himself, rather than a few media puppets desperate for things to say about the club to make a name for themselves.}

So in your personal opinion you think he'll be here feb 1st. I believe he will. Him asking for a transfer to chelsea will be against everything that Torres stands for and with us signing a top player and looking good I just can't see it. So you think he'll be here next month? {ed's note - I believe he will be, it would make no sense to sell him.}

We all know SSN & talkcrap all hate LFC, they just can't wait to put us down.
Just like the rumours in August about Nando wanting to leave.
Don't believe it folks, I don't know anyone at liverpool or anybody else linked to our club, all I can say is if Torres wanted to leave he would of by now.

Torres is not leaving

Any of the ed's plz post on rumour page i wud relly like to know what you and others think.Firstly do you think Torres and wants to move and where have ssn and bryan swanson got the news that Torres phoned lfc officials this evening and said he wants out.Also who else do u think will sign this transfer window.And finally what formation will we play with Suarez now coming in surely we won't play another good striker on the wings.

thank you keep up the work also gr8 site {ed's note - the source seems to be Tony Evans originally, I am trying to find out where he could have got it from. All the leaks were shut off when NESV came in, so if this really has come from inside the club they will be furious. Not sure on the formation, probably a 4-3-3 though, we don't have proper wingers yet to play a 4-4-2.}

()()

28 Jan 2011 22:08:07
Ed? Im worried, do you think any of these Torres rumours have legs? and anything that is being quoted! If Torres were to leave now it would put a different light on the LS capture.? any wise words? {ed's note - I have said all I know, he was unhappy in the summer but he stayed. He was unhappy under Roy, but Roy left. I was told he was enjoying football again under Dalglish and looking forward to a bright future with the club. So it is confusing me, maybe the uncertainty of Kenny being a temporary solution is worrying him, but I don't understand why he would want to move to Chelsea, who are in turmoil, if that is the case. I find this all a little difficult to believe to be honest, it smacks of agent mischief.}

28 Jan 2011 21:59:18
Why o why are Sky keeping up this pretence that Torres will leave, after all the s**te they have had this week you would have thought they would have learnt there lesson about people talkin s**te.
I know this is a rumour and banter site but please you are all fools if you belive that he would move to a team that are all getting past there sell by date.
Or could it be that he fancies a team that continually force there managers to resign/ get sacked by player power.
Why can't we all be positive, sign the players that have been mentioned, Honda, N'zogbia, Young?, Maureaux (summer) Gervinho (Summer) and hopefully a surprise one to wear the number 7 shirt, maybe Turan and see how we get on.
To the Board, thanks, you have shown us that you are willing to invest.
The only 1 downer is that although we will challenge next year it could be tryin to equal Manure's record.

Hey eds! Does Tony Barrett have any inside info regarding Liverpool? He seems pretty damn sure that nando will be leaving! I mean the club has kept all dealings quiet as of late! So how could he possibly know this? And why would Torres leave now that we have bought a world class striker too support him up front! Would be really disappointed with him if this turn out to be true! Committing himself two weeks ago and now a total turn around! What's your thoughts? Great site by the way! Please post this in the Liverpool rumors site! {ed's note - Tony Barrett is not reliable he works for the Times, which is the S*n's sister paper, a Murdoch puppet. Can I just flip things on their head a bit.

Do you think our sudden purchase of Suarez has been prompted by the Nando bid ie he has been critical of our lack of ambition in the transfer window and suddenly we go from offering 12.7mil to 22.8mil?

Are we making moves because we risk losing him if we dont?

Lets be honest we have all been annoyed at the 35mil bid when we know hes worth more but that's just the same as Camolli offering 12.7mil for a player valued at 25? ?

Just a thought. . please post on rumour page. .

I am gutted but just found this on talksport website and doesn't look good!

Looks like he is going and the question is will he be replaced because if not we back to square one and only have 1 striker!

Asked if he thought Torres would be leaving in the current transfer window, Evans added: "I believe so, we are led to believe by Tony Barrett, who is by far the best informed Liverpool writer in the country, that Fernando Torres has told the club that he wants to leave and that puts the club in a position where they have to do a deal with Chelsea.

"I don't think it's an official transfer request, he's just told the club that he wants to leave, I don't think it's been done in writing, I don't think it's gone that far but it's certainly gone far enough that it's almost irreparable.

"I think the relationship has broken down really fast between Torres and the club, the reality is Fernando Torres, over the past three years, has been promised the earth by officials of Liverpool and nothings been delivered. This problem has been inherited by the new owners and I think Torres has just come to the end of his tether.

"I think that's the situation tonight, we'll see that news spread and we will see, going into tomorrow, some sort of deal being done with Chelsea.

"Kenny [Dalglish] can work miracles, and has done in the past on many occasions, lets hope he can now for Liverpool football club's sake. I have to say I doubt [he can] at this stage [he can]. I think the die is cast and I think Torres will be a Chelsea player by the end of this window."

To the Editor,

I've been reading the site for a while every now and again and I must say that I have a few sources who have a few sources at the club, I recently posted about the pre-contract agreement with sylvain mavreux You will here about this in good time.

I won't mention names but there are a 2-3 more signings to be made before the deadline and I can confirm that one of whom I've not heard mentioned and is infact a defender.

More news to follow once it's set in stone.

To all these people quoting players saying things on twitter. .

It is rubbish. For a start, players are not allowed to comment about transfers or the clubs internal policy on a social networking site.

Also, the only REAL players on twitter that play for LFC are Brad Jones, Lucas and Glen Johnson. Those three themselves have stated that all other pages who are "supposedly" Liverpool players are fake pages.

U editors talk shizer and I am started to question all your knowledge, well the one who said torrez hasn't got a Twitter account, because he has and is furious with guillem ballague the tw#t for spreading media hype about somthin that is false, the only thing true is the bid, but that's all it is. Torres is committed to building liverpool up again, and him being part of that, this guy as he states on his bio "Liverpool Spain is my religion, ynwa my hym, anfield my church and the motto without question, loyalty is what we all live by, ! So? {ed's note - there are lots of fakes on Twitter, if you are insane enough to think the real Nando is talking to Ramos about riding him like a cowboy then more fool you!}

I'm not one to argue with the eds but Tony Barrett is saying there is defo clause in Torres contract, I know jurno's speculate but Tony knows alot of people around and close to the club including echo jurno's. Balaque source is rafa and prob When rafa was in charge there wasn't but purslow had to reassure Torres some how in the summer and maybe clause was added then. Not that it means anything as it's still up to Torres. {ed's note - even Balague admitted there was no clause.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Sorry ed, I know my writing's a bit confusing. Thats kind of what im getting at Balague says there isn't one but Barrett says there is. Like I sadi journo's make it up allot but the echo jurno's and ones that mingle with them like Barrett are usually more reliable then the rest. Again I don't know who to beleive but thought i'd throw it out there, maybe yourself, Macca or someone else might be able to awnser. Cheers for the reply though mate. {ed's note - I have never heard anything about a contract clause being inserted, I would think it would be more likely to have been a promise similar to the one Adam had from the Oystons. A contract amendment would involve being signed and witnessed and lawyers involved. It would be common knowledge rather than people suggesting it is there I would think.}

maka {ed's note - Torres does not have a Twitter account.}

* * * * * * * * * *

yes he has mate, or at least i think he does otherwise the idiot behind it is very clever as he has sergio ramos, steven gerrard and a lot of other famous players tweeting him and 'talking' to each other on twitter.

To ed
do you know if suarez will be cup tied for europa league. {ed's note - Ajax are in the Europa League so he will be cup tied.}

He has not played yet Ed. in Europa league so will he still be cup tied? Online rumours of Torres are saying he would be eligible for Champs league if he joined Chelski would the same not apply for Suarez? I think it's based on the competition you played in so Suarez may be eligible for Liverpool. hopefully someone can clarify. {ed's note - he played for Ajax in the Champions League before they dropped down though, that rules him out, purely because they have dropped into the Europa League.}

I can confirm guys that Torres just wanted to know if the club was moving forward and wanted proof before deciding on his future. Hes expected to make a decision following the signing of Suarez. I can also confirm that we will sign Nzogbia for a fee betweek 8-13M

Reina
Johnson/ Kelly Carragher/ Kyriakos Agger/ Wilson Aurelio/ Konchesky
Nzogbia/ Maxi Gerrard/ Shelvey Meireles/ Lucas J.Cole/ Kuyt
Torres/ Ngog Suarez/ Ngog

p.s konchesky is staying till the end of the season, then he'll rejoin fulham. a deal aparently broke down but it may well re-ignite!

To any doom mongers out there Fernando Torres will not be leaving in January. Luis Suarez said that he would not want to join Liverpool Football Club if Fernando Torres were to leave this January. I know we are still to agree personal terms with Suarez but he was the main person to make Ajax lower their asking price for him and so it shows he wanted to come meaning Torres is not leaving. If Torres is leaving, I'm sure it would be in a Summer Transfer Window and to a club not in England (i.e. not Chelsea) as he loves the LFC fans too much to betray us in that way.

Now for a question for Ed and Macca: do you agree with me here or do you think Torres will leave in January. Also, how many others, if any, do you expect us to sign this Transfer Window and in what position. If you do think we will get other players, then who do you think we will sign? ? {ed's note - I do think he will stay until the summer, no idea what will happen after that. I think we will get 2 more players at least, Adam + A N Other seems the most likely.}

"More than ever, we need to stick together, " he told The People. "We must live in the present, from match to match.

"We need to add more points, win matches and improve our standing in the table.

"That is our challenge and I demand the total help of our supporters in doing that.

"My head is in Liverpool and on helping save our season. I am professional and I always fulfil my deals.

"I haven't considered leaving, although in football that depends on the club.

"Liverpool had a lot of success under Rafa Benitez and that is difficult for anyone to follow.

"Even if the ball hasn't always dropped our way this season, we have missed out in a lot of matches."

This was the last I saw from theplayer himself c. 2 weeks ago if this has changed he has gone down in my estimations. lets wait till we here from him

As per soccernet, Torres to shock Lfc and hand in a transfer request. We are all happy about the Suarez deal and now the 2nd thing Macca said is turning out to be true.so, congratulate him for that also.
Seems Chelsea are offering around £40m.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =RA said Chelski will pay up to 60M for Torres.Citeh want to be kept in the loop. I can say for certain that if FT9 hands in a transfer or doesn't come out and deny he asked LFC to listen to offers from Chelski, he will be sold but not until summer '11. We will start a bidding war and it will also involve Barca, Inter and a German club. Macca has some very valid inside info and I'd like to congratulate him on his predictions coming true. I hope the signing of Saurez and either Honda or N'zogbia will persuade him to stay and or make him happy that this club has come back from the brink twice and are now ready to play with the big boys again.

I would like to thank Chelski for giving a helping hand securing the services of Suarez.Bidding for Torres then him saying "listen to what they have to say" has i think pushed the owners into actually buying Suarez.
They don't want to lose their prize asset and also upset the fans.

Ajax have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Liverpool over the transfer of striker Luis Suarez for a fee of £23 million.

The Reds have acted swiftly after the manager of the Eredivisie outfit, Frank de Boer, suggested that he wanted any potential deal for the 24-year-old to be concluded on Saturday.

The Uruguayan striker heads to Anfield as uncertainty surrounds the future of Fernando Torres, with Goal.com UK exclusively revealing that the former Atletico Madrid star wants to leave the club by the start of next season with Chelsea heavily linked.

Suarez himself declared on Friday that he was desperate for the Reds to reach an agreement with Ajax to allow him to grasp a "beautiful chance" to join a "big club in Europe".

The ex-Groningen man has won 38 caps for his country and was one of the stand-out performers at the 2010 World Cup as Uruguay finished in fourth place in South Africa.

That is a good spot, i remember at the time looking at the article and thinking the same. makes sense when these are the 3 players we are being linked with the most. still would love to see Honda come in and Torres stay. great window for the Reds if we can pull it off.

Cheers for the reply though mate. {ed's note - I have never heard anything about a contract clause being inserted, I would think it would be more likely to have been a promise similar to the one Adam had from the Oystons. A contract amendment would involve being signed and witnessed and lawyers involved. It would be common knowledge rather than people suggesting it is there I would think.}

For all you people saying torres wants to leave:

It has been REPORTED(being the operative word) the Spaniard was keen for Liverpool to speak to his representatives about a possible move, although that is yet to be confirmed.
its all just a rumour, you can't really say much until torres comes out and says it himself.

Hey ED, please do post this, both rumor and talk

Now that we have Suarez in the bag, we should wrap up Keisuke Honda deal by sunday at most. With those two, i can no doubt see 5th position atleast! !.

To those people who think that Torres will leave now that Suarez has come, you all are talking rubbish. Why would Torres leave now? ?, when he has got the xtra confidence that that now he has the right partner to play beside, and Gerrard and Meireles as well.

As for the rumor, i heard from a friend of mine who is close to Valencia FC, that in the summer we will bid for both Ever Banega and Juan Mata with Mata our highest priority.

The thought of Torres and Suarez together is awesome! Do you have concrete proof that he is staying - have you heard it from anyone in the know? ! {ed's note - no, but they do say it as 'Sky sources say' if you watch. It was an interview with Balague that gave them the story. Just remember Torres rejected a move to Chelsea in the summer when the club was on its knees. I just don't trust Balague, he is a snake and everything I have been told was that Nando was happy with the appointment of Dalglish and enjoying working with him. Man city have made enquiries about the Torres situation and wish to be kept informed. .

Apparently they are looking to start the bidding at around £60 million and are going public with their bid in a few hours.

Sorry guys but Torres is going. .nesv are stripping the assets before selling on to make the most of their exit strategy and a quick turnover.

I can't believe any true Liverpool fan would believe this garbage. Is it because they're from America that they aren't trusted? Look at what a bang up job the Brit did before Hicks and Gillette. Quit making NESV out to be something they're not. Start supporting your club. On Tuesday, when Liverpool reveal the new signings, clowns like the one above will vanish from this site.

Not fact as much just quoting what is being said on KOPSOURCE in there Suarez clockwatch

And quotes from Frank de Boer:

"From the bottom of my heart, I hope on Sunday for our next match with NAC that I can call on him, " de Boer told Dutch television.

"Liverpool know what they have to pay, if they do it by the weekend then we will have time to take action."
14:45 - The chances of this deal going through is 50/ 50. This could go either way. Other reports state that Suarez is desperate to move to Anfield and has pleaded for Ajax to be more reasonable.

"Liverpool has a major delegation to Amsterdam to negotiate Suarez. I think the chances are 50-50 that Suarez continues with us, " de Boer said.
I can't see a club negotiating for an entire week, only to come back empty handed. Personally, I think this will go through.

15:46 - Quotes from Suarez about the situation:

"Liverpool want me. It is a great opportunity. We are now waiting on an agreement between Ajax and Liverpool. Until then, I focus on NAC, "

"I still play for Ajax, but maybe today or tomorrow otherwise. It hurts a little. I welcome everyone here, but people need to understand that a move to Liverpool is wonderful. It is one of the largest clubs in Europe. "
16:10 - Rumours suggest that a bid of £20M has been agreed. Watch this space.

I firmly believe that Torres will go but in the summer.

This whole Chelsea bid business was designed to unsettle both Torres & LFC. Abramovich thought why not bid again, as their bid for Aguero was rejected. I think the bid for Torres was in the region of £39 million, which was immediately rejected. Whether Chelsea were serious or not, I don't know. It may have just been a cheeky bid to unsettle us, as we play them soon.

Also, a note about Guillem Balague. He is just stirring up malicious rumours with no truth to them. He simply is doing his piece for Rafa Benitez. Does Rafa want to stir up trouble for LFC, by spreading false information via Balague about Torres? I doubt it. All Balague wants is a higher profile for himself by way of free publicity, and adding more fuel to the false fire surrounding Torres.

If Torres does want to go, which I think is the case, it will be this summer, we will get £60-70 million for him, probably to Barcelona where he will link up with David Villa. Torres will not go to another club in England, that much I am certain about. His body language over the last year or so, show a player that is unhappy and dis-interested. Unless Kenny can show that there are QUALITY players coming in, and the team can play better and go up the league, then there is a slight chance Torres will stay, and probably sign a new contract extension. Slim chance, but it may happen. I am sure we all know that we have been starved of transfer funds the last 3 years, so now is the time for NESV to show they mean business.I think that they will not disappoint us. I think that NESV will sign at least TWO world class players this summer to show their intent

We have all seen strikers come and go et al Keegan, Rush, Fowler, Owen. .but Liverpool have always carried on. No one player is bigger than the club.

With that money we can start to build a great team for the future.

I believe Liverpool will sign the following 4 players by deadline day:

Suarez
Adam
N'Zogbia
Warnock (on loan from Aston Villa)

Ed, anything to a loose twitter rumour that Augero is a target and we're his preferred choice so Chelski were peed off and bid on FT9. ?

Chi-Paul {ed's note - I think it is more that Chelsea had a bid rejected for Aguero rejected so they are looking at Torres instead. Roman believes Nando is the best striker in the world and has tried to buy numerous times, this is just him saying I still want you to Torres just in case.}

BIG NEWS.. Luis Suarez will not be joining Liverpool! Had it from a source within Anfield that we have never been interested in LS and its all been a smoke screen while Liverpool have been working massively behind the scenes at bringing in Kun Aguero.. Chelsea have got wind of this and are trying to upset the apple card and bid for Torres! Liverpool have rejected the offer and Torres has no interest in leaving Liverpool.. This being the reason why torres nor Liverpool have come out since the supposed story of torres wanting out! Liverpool have now stepped up a gear in the pursuit of Aguero and expect him to sign Before Monday!Get a grip you fool! there is no such thing as a smokescreen!

My take on today's rumours (ed, feel free to comment)

KELLY - considered by Capello for England call up - fantastic opportunity for him and if he keeps his club form up, well deserved
TORRES - Will honour his contract and stay in Merseyside. If we are playing at least Europa League football in 2011/ 2012 and we strengthen the team to make a push for Champs League and League title in 2012/ 2013, he will see a future with the club. Also, why strengthen Chelsea's European chances, they are not guaranteed Champs League next year the way the league has been, they could end up 5th. WE CANT LET HIM GO!
SUAREZ - A lot of discussion, so as not to repeat what has already been posted I am going to say that I am more optimistic than earlier this week and I will put my neck on the line and say 70/ 30 in favour of reaching a deal for him.
PEPE REINA - same as Torres, he is happy where he is, as long as we show promise and strengthen the team, he is loyal to the reds and he won't go to UTD.
kRANJCAR - can't see that one, although talented, all our efforts appear to be gered towards landing Charlie Adam.
KONCHESKY - Simple, go back to Fulham
BENZEMA - Suarez is plan A but BENZEMA would be great for us, but we havent approached, so perhaps on the back burner until the summer.

Liverpool are set battle Manchester United in the race to sign Brazilian defender Michael Bastos.

The 27-year-old Lyon full back is expected to leave the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer, and Liverpool are thought to have joined the race to sign the £22 million rated player.

An attack-minded left back, Bastos left Lille in the summer of 2009 for a fee in the region of euros 18 million, and has gone on to become a star at the Stade de Gerland.

All i know mate is that he was desperate lo leave when Roy was there, not sure now Kenny is in charge.

I think if we sign Suarez then Torres will go, just my opinion.

Also if he wants to go then let him, we are and always will be bigger than Fernando Torres.

I also can't understand people having a go at the owners, if a player is unhappy then you must get rid.

As i said December i know that a lot of the players don't really speak to him because of his lack of effort (when Roy was in charge) and he also still doesn't attend the team bonding sessions.

If rumours are to be believed that Ajax have dropped their asking price some 10m euros from 35m to 25m, could it not be argued that Comolli's bare-faced cheek in offering £12.7m has worked in getting Liverpool their target at a reasonable price?

Despite being a huge Lfc fan, I feel gutted how Lfc have bid £12.5m for Suarez when he's double that amount. . I am not FAT, I have gland problems so sometimes swell up a little! Torres is going nowhere, Relax all that's happening is clubs are just jockying for position before they put there final bids in for certain players.

We all know the players we want and so do the other clubs, Chelsea are just trying to make Kun nervous by saying they want Torres. At the end of the day we should be more concerened who WE are going to buy and not who we are going to sell.

I only currently have 1 very credible source in football. A friend of mine from school who's father became very high up at Chelsea after abramovic bought the club. The only piece of information I have previously posted was that Yossi was signing for them. At the time I did ask about Joe cole but he said no one at the club knew where he was going to go.

Anyway. I spoke to him today about fernando. He has told me that Chelsea know liverpool will not sell Torres in this window and the bid was used to try and get atletico to accept a bid for kun. They will be lodging another bid for aguerro in the coming days. Torres will not b goin to Chelsea.

When talking about Fernando Torres on Sky, the so called Sky Sports sources are in fact Guillem Balague. He is their source, fact. He is trying to cause problems for Liverpool. It is about undermining the good work done by Dalglish and he is worrying that he is doing better with this squad than his pal Benitez was able to do last season. If nothing happens this window Balague will continue this undermining process over the next 6 months. The fact is Liverpool are in a much healthier state now than 6 months ago and can now afford to turn down such approaches. Liverpool should offer Torres a 2 year contract extension and see what his reaction is. If Henry and Werner get an Owen like response, it may be time to sell in the summer, but for no less than £50m.

My sources in Amsterdam:

Latest news from Amsterdam press ( D Pers.nl). Again its a computer translation :

Ajax and Liverpool back to the table
Published: Today 1:39 p.m.

Ajax and Liverpool negotiate again on Friday Suarez. The English club with a large delegation came to Amsterdam. The leadership of the current number three in the Eredivisie on Saturday to clarify the future of top scorer.

"They know what we want''Suarez said coach Frank de Boer. , Luis is off if they pay that amount. I expected to come Friday with a higher bid. But I do not know if it comes to an agreement. I estimate the chances of a departure from Suarez on 50 percent. It is true that living on Friday. Otherwise, simply Ajax Suarez.''

Liverpool and Ajax also on Monday negotiated an immediate transfer of Suarez. Dirk Kuyt's boss wanted the striker's contract for 15 million euros surrenders. Ajax bid quickly wiped it off the table.

absolutely spot on.
They are desperate, they way it's going they could be bricking themselves regarding fourth sport, and will try and unsettle any team aound them

how long have they been interested in Torres this window?

I believe the Torres rumours to be no more than unsettling tactics, given his recent form and the fact he nearly always scores against them and we play them soon. How many strikers do they need anyway?

A further move by Liverpool to capture Charlie Adam has been rejected by Blackpool.

The ECHO can exclusively reveal that the Reds made a fresh approach for the Tangerines playmaker last night.

The figure is not yet confirmed, but it is understood to be comfortably improved on the £4m offered to the Tangerines a week ago.

The situation regarding Adam appears delicate with the midfielder handing in a transfer request, but Blackpool manager Ian Holloway insisting the club will only seriously listen to any offers over £10m for the 25-year-old Scottish international.

I know a certain member of the backroom staff whos son plays in the same under 8 football team as mine, i was talking to him last night at the kids football training, he was saying that they all had two days off (friday & saturday) due to no committment in the FA cup. So Torres isn't even at Melwood today so there goes your BREAKING NEWS.

Liverpool Rumours
Everyone is panicking about nando going trust me he's not going anywhere right now in the summer maybe, he has a deep affection for all us Liverpool fans and due to this will certainly go abroad if anywhere, if we can get in a few good players now e.g Suarez it will show nando that the club is going forward and willing to spend, he has always said he dosen't want to leave but a player of his quality needs to win trophies let kk work his magic and talk him round and then with new faces a big push next season.

Guillem balague is and absolut t**t, he always spreads contreversial news and he always turns out to be wrong yet it never stops him from doing it. he's desperate to break 'news' and be relied on by english football fans but he just makes himself look like and idiot. oh and why would torres leave the club he loves with ngog as the only recognised striker. he would only leave if it also meant a good deal for livrepool football club. hopefully this will bring an eletric performance out of torres at stamford bridge next minth (for liverpool) ; )

ITS A GOOD EFFORT BUT THE PLAYERS WERE GIVEN THURSDAY & FRIDAY OFF AND ARE NOT DUE IN UNTIL SATURDAY FOR ANY TRAINING! !
IF TORRES WANTS TO GO FAIR ENOUGH BUT IT WONT HAPPEN TILL THE SUMMER AT THE EARLIEST.
I WILL SAY THIS THOUGH, IF THE OWNERS EVER NEEDED PROOF THAT THEY NEED TO INVEST IN THE TEAM, NOT ONLY TO MAKE IT BETTER BUT ALSO TO KEEP THE CURRENT STARS THEN THIS HAS DONE NO HARM WHATSOEVER!

Hey ed ive got a couple of questions for you

1) what do you make of this torres situation

2) how much do you value torres

3) would you care if he went

4) if torres left surely we would get a striker, but would there be enough time

5) do you still think we can get charlie adam

lfc all day {ed's note - Torres has not spoken to the club, nor have his reps, about an interest in leaving to join Chelsea. SSN are desperately trying to build up this story because the transfer window has been a damp squib for them. Balague is just muck spreading so his friend Rafa looks good, it helps Rafa's legend if everyone thinks it is all falling apart without him. I wouldn't sell Torres unless we are getting two strikers instead. I don't know about Adam for sure, I was told it still looks on for round about £8m + add ons of about £2m. But there are a lot of unhappy people with the deal, it was supposed to be about half that, Moyes had led people to believe he was available for 4.5m.}

Yesterday Ajax reportedly wanted euros 30m (approximately £25.9m) but today they are said to have dropped their price to euros 25m (around £21.6m).

Liverpool's latest offer has been widely announced as euros 20m (£17.3m), but the clubs are still negotiating.

Now around £4m apart in their respective valuations, could a compromise offer of £2m more be accepted by Ajax?

Copied this from sporting life

Torres had a £50million buy-out clause inserted into his contract within the last year but it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be prepared to match that or, indeed, whether the player would even contemplate a move to Stamford Bridge.

I hope Nando stays & we still get Suarez as those two up front would be awesome

I get it now. . .
Chelsea offer 30-40 million for nando depending on what paper you read, some pundit comes out and say's nando wants liverpool to listen to the offer's, liverpool say he is not for sale the owner's think hang on a minute if we don't get a decent striker (world class) nando will be off sharpish, best up our offer for suarez to show him and the fans we mean business. You coulden't write this stuff if you tried lol.

The player that Chelsea are including in the deal is Sturridge.

This is going to make me unpopular but i tnink there is a very good chance he will leave in this transfer window.

Also we are close to signing four new players.

Please post:
Everyone calm down! There is no chance that Torres will be leaving this window as there is no where near enough time. Liverpool will play hard ball and will only consider offers of 70 million +. Then when it gets to the summer hopefully Kenny will have worked his magic and pulled him around, not getting too far out of my seat but we could still finish with a similar points total to Chelsea.
Even if Torres wants to go in the summer he will go for no less than 70 million, and think who we could get for that !
Please keep calm and carry on!
Any additions ed?
Liverbird {ed's note - I think you are spot on, except I am not convinced any offer would be accepted right now. Not without other strikers already at the club.}

Jonathan at Sky Bet: Sky Bet have the Blues as 2/ 1 favourites to land Torres, with Manchester City 10/ 1 second favourites, Inter Milan available at 12/ 1 and Real Madrid a 16/ 1 chance.

this was directly under the torres story on ssn when i went on. sky sports loves to make a bit of money from "nothing" storys it seems. or from thick chelski supporters with a few quid to waste.

Manchester city will test LFC nerve today with a £50M + Jo offer for Fernando Torres.. City feel the offer is big enough for liverpool cash in and splash the cash on LS from Ajax plus the option of Jo as another forward! Fernando Torres has always stated that he'd never play for another English Team but with recent injuries over the last 12months and poor performances Fernando feels the need for a new start and feels this kind of offer suits Liverpool more than any other offer a club could offer! Expect torres to sign a £250K a week plus and then expect Carlos Tevez to leave in the summer to Real or Barcelona!

Kenny and john henry now understand that ajax arn't goin 2 accept any s**t under 20m because they tried ovr and ovr again and he would be a gud catch 4 20m considering hes scoring average is over 1 per game
and as 4 warnock Villa arn't playin him we tried him on loan but villa want us 2 pay 500 000 per week and his salary if my math is right the season lasts 4 about
10 weeks left that ovr bloody 5m so villa would accept a transfer fee 4 over 5m and liverpool desperately need an alrite lb kelly can only do so much.

Just found this from DE TELEGRAPH newspaper in Amsterdam: ( its been done on auto translate so is a little strange in places )

Liverpool and Ajax continue talking today

Marcel van der Kraan
AMSTERDAM - Ajax and Liverpool were last night still discussing the transfer of striker Luis Suarez. The boards of both clubs had reached no agreement. The players, coaching staff and fans nerve-racking negotiations are almost certainly continues today.

Luis Suarez
Photo: Reuters
Liverpool was after hours of discussion, which is precisely four hours yesterday afternoon shortly before the match started and finished at NAC, failed close enough near the asking price of Ajax to come. That would still be around 25 million euros.
The agent of the player, the Spaniard Pere Guardiola, Luis Suarez maintains hourly informed of developments. The Uruguayan Sat last night the last of his suspension from seven matches, but it is questionable whether he would have been able to come to Ajax.
Suarez's head turns slowly to any events since Liverpool are reported to him in the Arena. He is mentally already half at Anfield, where he wants to play with a large contingent of Spanish football and he wants to fulfill new ambitions.
For the most valuable player and striker of Ajax, there is only one wish and that is a transfer to the Premier League. In recent days the South American trained as a madman, but it happened mostly in the hope that he soon appeared in England, and there appear to fit as a fiddle.
Suarez and his agent think he is entitled to his big chance and his huge salary improvement as Liverpool a sum of about twenty million euros on the table.
But if Suarez is so steadfast, so rigid is also Ajax in transfer talks with Liverpool. Where this will end, should the parties have not come true today, seems longer difficult to predict.
In 2007, Suarez filed on two occasions an arbitration case. That was the night of August 9 to August in 2007. A few days later, he moved from Groningen to Amsterdam . .

Please post on rumour site. first time poster, lifetime fan.
Not a rumour, just my opinion. Suarez will join LFC. The situation is similar to the mascherano sale last year. LFC knew masch wanted 2 leave (so did barca). barca tabled a first bid of (i think) 18 million. LFC said 'no way, that's way under our valuation of the player'. A few days l8r, masch is a barca player for 20ish million. this was still way under lfc's valuation but nothing could be done as the player wanted to go. I hope the Suarez deal goes the same way and we get a very useful addition to the team.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish last night refused to be drawn on potential transfers, stating that all business would be done "in house." The Reds are weighing up whether to make an improved bid for Suarez, whilst also contemplating increasing their bid for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam, having had a £4.5million bid rejected by the Seasiders last week.

Nobody 'belongs to LFC', as an earlier poster wrote. We are not the club we were, we are starting again. To make sure we survive and prosper, then £60m is good business.

£60m quid in today's market would buy 2 unproven south American strikers I don't see us accepting any bids unless Torres makes it clear he wants to leave which he doesn't. He's starting to enjoy life at lfc again we will rebuild around him for many years under dalglish

I must admit I have been a little frustrated of late with our lack of movement or reluctance to make a realistic bid for Suarez. Not sure we will sign him, but have a sneaking feeling we may well take a lot of people by suprise in the next few days with a major signing or 2. Got to have faith and believe that NESV are excellent at batering the right deal. Lets not forget how they aquired the club and how greatful we were. What do you think Ed?

Yes I don't think Fernando will be joining Chelsea this month. However our top players like Gerrard, Torres and Reina want to see the club challenging for trophies.

Its all very well saying he is staying what a statement. A better statement for me would be to show our fans, players and other clubs that LFC are back in town and sign some quality. If we have another blank transfer window they may not get the chance to convince our players to stay because our total inactivity and lack of ambition will have convinced them to leave.

The next 4 days will not only shape the rest of the season it could shapre what happens next season as well

If NESV are the money grabbing yanks that some people are claiming them to be, why have they rejected a bid of £40-60m (depending on what you believe) for Torres with a straight NO, NOT FOR SALE.

if they were after money, surely they would have said yes and pocketed the money.

They said transfers would be at the end of the window and there are still a few days left. Give them the full window before judging them.

And as for Comolli, give him a chance too. I have my concerns and will reserve my judgement for now, he may still come up with a good deal for us!

Rumoured possibly willing to accept 6 to 7 mill for him.It Looking at some of his performances he looks the real deal , possible replacement for Carra or Skrtel? It would possibly be a wise move to get him now.

'Chelsea's £40 million bid for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is an act of desperation
In July, the engraving on his World Cup winners' medal still warm, Fernando Torres was the subject of a £35 million bid from Chelsea.

Despite his poor showing in the tournament, the offer had the aura of a low-ball, of Roman Abramovich trying to take advantage of Liverpool's financial crisis to tempt them into selling their prize asset.
Seven months on, the Russian has returned to Anfield, his offer bolstered by an extra £5 million. This time, an air of desperation clings to his bid: Chelsea's spectacular collapse in the title race, their evident need to strengthen their ageing, depleting resources, has driven Abramovich to pay way over the odds for what he sees as a miracle cure.
That Chelsea's attempts to sign arguably the Premier League's most marketable, most recognisable star can be portrayed as an ill-judged, kneejerk splurge, rather than intelligent recruitment, says much about their plight. It says more, though, about how far Torres himself has fallen.
Had the Spanish international seen his effort against Fulham on Wednesday night given, Torres would have scored four goals in five games under Kenny Dalglish's stewardship. It is that sort of form which makes him so desirable to Abramovich.'. . . . . . . .Chelski have no chance, we should bid £3m for Ashley Cole or Drogba!

You've got to give it to the Russian though, at least he goes in with realistic offers and doesn't hang around city centre hotels with a begging bowl trying to get players on the cheap. We're becoming a running joke, even Blackpool are referring to our approach of 'Adam' as bizarre. Americans are just not for me script. Let them employ their business school principles to their own sporting entities on their side of the pond. Thy don't understand the history, nature and essence of the english game. 'unearthing a little Gem', 'value', paraphrases from American business text books. They don't work in football, the game and the investment models different, specifically if you want to compete with the cream of Europe. {ed's note - Blackpool can talk all the rubbish they want, but they know full well that the offer was realistic as they had led Adam's agent to believe that he would be allowed to go to a top club for a bid over £4m. They were in dispute over bonuses in the summer and it was one of the promises Adam was given to stay, apparently. That's why Villa came in with the same offer as well, Kenny Moyes has been indiscreet.}

Ed? Do you believe it to be unlikely that we will sign anyone now in this window! And what is your opinion on the bid from Chelsea, were they just trying their luck? Will this unsettle Torres?! {ed's note - we will sign people and Chelsea were using it more to frighten Atletico into accepting their offer for Aguero I think. They have been rejected every transfer window in bids for him but Roman keeps trying.}

OK. This is the info i have. Suarez deal is 50/ 50 at the min. The least Ajax will take for him is 19mil(pounds). LFC have the cash but are cautious just in case another club comes in for him at that value. If not then LFC will bid for Luis for the said amount on transfer deadline day. They will bid in the "AM" of deadline day so as, if the bid gets rejected they will then go to plan B. Plan B is Gignac. Commoli has reportedly been interested in the player if the Suarez deal falls through.
Adam deal will not happen. Also Warnock is a no go.

they best not wait till deadline day lol, cos ajax have given lfc till saturday night for the 2 clubs to agree,

i do see it happening tho but on saturday for around 20-22 million
