Nope. Henderson in defence. This is not going to go very well.

Not getting a cb in is absolutely criminal at this stage, we didn't replace lovern in the summer, and now our back ups are injured too. I'm certainly not having a go at the owners, money is tight I get it, but something should have been done. Missing out on CL football will have a much bigger financial impact. I'm not saying we will, but with the constant changes at the back and midfield is crucifying our game. Club needs to sort it out.

Thought we wer turning a corner with injuries 🤦🏻‍♂️.

If we get through this without conceding and win the match, Klopp and Henderson can consider themselves miracle workers. Maybe Klopp wants to turn Hendo into a modern day Beckenbauer?

It's funny how everyone still doubts klopp even now! Give him water and he will turn it to wine! Believe in klopp!

Glad he brought Phillips on. Did not let anyone down, alert to the danger and communicated with Henderson and Allison well. Gutted that we literally have all of our first choice centre backs out. And then there were none.

Enjoy your humble pie peeps.
What a team performance. well done lads

Of course Matip is injured again. and I do think FSG must realise that a CB is now a must.

Wasnt the replacement for Lovren supposed to be either Williams or Phillips. Bit hard ot keep demanding Klopp give the youngsters a go when you bag him when he does make a path for them.

It’s time Matip is shipped out he misses too many games it’s getting beyond a joke.

I feel sorry for Matip. Not disagreeing that needs replaced for someone more available but apparently it's a completely different injury.

Shame because he's such a good, reliable (in terms of performance) defender. Anyway, wish him a speedy recovery.

Eds, clearly Klopp is pushing for a new CB this window as explained by Ed001 yesterday.

We know Diego Carlos was the man who was wanted back in the summer and Ben White is a long term consideration but, who have we genuinely been trying to acquire or at least looking at THIS window?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have given the list of CBs Liverpool has been looking at but I would not expect a ÂŁ50M Ben White this week. For me, if Liverpool wish to add a player who could help out now the answer is Subotic who is a Free Agent and Klopp knows him well.}

28 Jan 2021 09:31:39
Agreed Ed002 we don't need a world beater at the moment we need an experienced body to come in for 6 months and go from there, do you think Klopp would move for a free agent or go with what he has? how are you during this C.V.? still in the UK?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Subotic would be the ideal solution to the immediate issue but would need to exclude Virgil van Dijk or another from the squad in order to add him.}

28 Jan 2021 09:51:56
Subotic wouldn’t be a bad shout at all as a stop gap. I think that given Kelleher has stepped up so well, maybe Adrian could be the one to drop out?

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 09:59:21
Surely it won’t be an issue removing Virgil Ed unless Klopp thinks he will back to play this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There has been no update about van Dijk returning.}

28 Jan 2021 10:48:38
Adrian should be dropped from the 25 man squad. Kelleher is better, and Adrian's leaving in the summer anyways. Why waste a foreign quota spot on a bang average 3rd choice GK?

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 11:54:01
Until Ali or Kelleher get injured.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 14:52:08
I agree, remove Adrian. He is 3rd choice and that makes sense. Just to add to that, Kelleher is Irish, but does he qualify as Home Grown?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 16:00:24
per Ed002: to be home grown has to have played for us for 3 years between ages 16 and 21.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not quite:

(1) Home Grown: The EPL squad rules are a max of 25 players over 21, of which a max of 17 can be non-Home Grown. The remaining eight have to be HG (spending 3 years between 16 and 21 with an English or Welsh side, regardless of nationality, e.g. Nathan Ake is Home Grown for the EPL). If there are not enough HG players, then the squad size reduces, so if there are only six, the squad reduces to 23. In terms of UEFA competitions, the rules vary slightly with the eight "HG". A maximum of four of those eight can be trained by other clubs in the English and Welsh association. The remaining have to be club developed and trained. So If Arsenal were to recruit Mason Mount, he would fall in to the category of being association trained (by Chelsea) rather than club trained. Again, if there are not sufficient club trained players the squad size is reduced. So for Liverpool, Caoimhin Kelleher, Harry Wilson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are the three that meet this criteria so the squad size in Europe will be 24 rather than 25 (or 23 if Wilson is sold).

(2) Club developed: In terms of "club developed and trained" means that they have spent at least 12 months with the club before the year of their 19th birthday. As such Ryan Sessegnon is not club developed by Spurs nor Joe Gomez by Liverpool.At present:

HG (7)
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
James Milner
Joe Gomez
Jordan Henderson
Nathanial Phillips

HG and Club Developed (2)
Caoimhin Kelleher
Trent Alexander-Arnold.

was just about to say all that but hit send too early!
lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 17:03:22
So when Milner hangs he boots up we will need to replace him with another HG player then.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't work like that. The squad management at Liverpool is poor as you know. They need to meet quotas even if Milner players another 5 years.}

28 Jan 2021 17:19:19
The likes of Jones and Elliott coming through will help in that regard.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2021 19:20:35
ed2, probably a numpty question here. but let's say FSG has every intention to purchase a CB, just not until the summer. What is the difference between investing funds they would have spent anyways, but just doing it earlier?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Availability of money - and avaiability of players.}
