Editor, if Liverpool sign Marveux does that rule out signing Honda? Or is Honda a striker? {ed's note - Honda can play up front, he is certainly not a winger unlike the French lad.}

If we get him for cheap then I hope that means we can spend more on a strike partner for torres. I would like someone strong and physical who can score goals, so Dzeko would be my choice but he's moving to city and would probably be to expensive. I think we should move for Llorente. Would cost about 21 million but is worth it. Built for the premier league. Didn't you say we put forward a bid for Marveux?

Oh and honda is not a striker. He played behind the striker. {ed's note - he did play for Japan as a target man, he can virtually play anywhere, he was a very good attacking left back while at VVV at times.}

I emailed nesv hopefully im not the only one sent it to info@nesv.com and this was my email,

to whome it may concern,

i am writing this email in hope it will reach john henry or tom werner, as a liverpool supporter, and i am 100% sure i feel the same as probably atleast 97% of liverpool supporters, we need roy hodgson gone now before the january transfer window, we need a better manager to spend the cash not hodgson, he likes players who are not even good enough for the championship never mind the premiership, , he will waste your money.
You need a manager like owen coyle of bolton or even sam alladyce, or martin o neil, please hear the cries of the lfc fans even if you gave kenny dalglish the reins atleast till the summer anything but roy hodgson, his tactics are negative football he plays not to win but to not lose, very defensive you are american's surely you hear it in american football offence is the best form of defence, well hodgson doesn't know offence.

i really hope this message reaches someone who can do something about this mess we call hodgson.

thanks for taking the time to read my message,

many thanks

Because even when the wind picks up he's down flat on his face never mind a solid centre back

"It is due to british tax, top earners have now got to pay 50% tax meaning we would have to pay him double just for him to get the same amount he is getting now at atletico madrid"

Your logic is totally illogical. I researched income tax in Spain and it's around 30%-43% for incomes over 45,000 euros per year. Liverpool would not have to pay him double to make up the difference. . . Do some research and quit the nonsense. . {ed's note - professional footballers used to get a tax break, named after Beckham incidentally, which is going to be removed.}

Well that may be, but we still wouldn't have to pay twice as much to make up the difference. I just don't understand why people think it's impossible to buy from Spain based on taxes.

Please do not start a campaign for Owen Coyle, yes he has done a decent job at Bolton, but he left Burnley at the drop of a hat, I believe that he would do the same to Bolton if LFC went in for him, but I also believe that he would do the same to us if he got a better offer.
I for one want a Liverpool manager that stays with us until he retires or gets sacked, not one that would use us to further his own career.
Also what has he won?? ? {ed's note - I think it would be difficult to get him from Bolton, they are a club close to his heart, that is why he was so ready to jump ship to join them.}

Just got back from the game lads. For those of you that don't get the chance to get there, the reason everyone booed when Ngog went off was as it should have been that lazy sulky get Torres that got hooked off not Ngog. Sure he might be 10 times the player of David but played with about a hundredth of his passion. A disgrace to the shirt for our supposed best player. This guy is already back in Spain and the sooner we get shot of him the better. RED77

I'll go with that aswell.He's pretty much like that most games, people go on about lack of service and so on but how can the lads give him the service when he can't be chewed!
We all have our own views but surely after watching him and his seemingly can't be arsed attitude yet again people must be having second thoughts about him now?!

Firstly Roy needs to be sacked immediately. He has no clue and it is clear the players don't want play for him. Other news is that Sylvain mavreaux was on the directors box according to the guardian

anyone know if this guy is any good? have to be honest though i wouldn't be surprised if he's thinking twice about moving if he is due to be joining as rumored.

from what ive seen of him he looks good, , chelsea and united wanted him at one point, , but like u say hes probably been sitting there and thinking yeah errmm nah i think ill stick with rennes they r much better ha ha

Click bel if you think hodgson, konchesky, skrtel, poulsen, ngog, glen johnson need to go!

Should do a barca have a 433 get babel and pacheco either side of torres and agger n kyrgiakos as centrback pairing kelly and aurelio as wing backs and lucas, meireles and gerrard in midfield

That is how we need to be lining up
Not konchesky and ngog on the pitch with meireles on the right. .
Babel looked sharp when he came on though!

Did any1 that was at the game see Sylvain Marveux the Rennes winger. According to the guardians match report he will be our first signing. That one was kept quiet?

"The Rennes left winger Sylvain Marveaux was in the directors' box at Anfield and is expected to become the first of Hodgson's signings in the January transfer window. Marveaux is still recovering from a groin injury and judging from the way some of Hodgson's other signings were treated he may yet change his mind." {ed's note - hardly kept quiet, one of the other editors has mentioned he would be joining a while ago and I did say we bid for him earlier today.}

How wealthy are nesv are they wealthy enough to suffer relegation I know it is unthinkable but I was just wondering about the reports in the mail last week about players liverpool can't shift because of high wages like jova 60k p/ w babel 70k p/ w cole 90k p/ w if the unforeseen was to happen would the club be able to terminate these contracts. I know this is highly unlikely but this is just a thought I think nesv will want to win but I think they will do it there way and I don't think they will be to bothered to upset a few people first please post on rumours site just want to see peoples thoughts yours included ed s {ed's note - do the players not have a relegation pay cut clause built into their contracts? That was what nearly destroyed Newcastle, I was hoping we had learnt the lesson from them.}

To the ed- -
What is the possibility of Benitez becoming the manager at Chelsea?? Imagine Ancelotti getting the sack there and available in the summer, is there any chance we would approach him coz as the game against Wolves approaches, the lack of creativity from RH becomes more evident.

NESV wants young talent and I hope it is not applicable to Managers cause Carlo is an amazing coach {ed's note - it is unlikely that either will happen.}

Hi all

SERGIO AGUERRO does support LFC. He said he would love to one day play in the premier league for his favourite team LFC. .These interview was on a transworld sport player profile interview when he was at independiente b4 he went 2 atletico. .Don't think we'll ever get him, As we are normally too late at picking up young foreign talent who support us torress being the only exception.

Don't forget this makes sense aswell as Marradonna said he loved us after istanbul and he is married to his daughter. .

Hey Ed. I've been putting down the Keisuke Honda move for awhile now. I've just been going on hype. Until I saw a couple of compilations on him, I am WOW'd. This kid is a must and would cost £15m which is a steal even at £20m.
Charles N'Zogbia is a rumour and LFC fans says he's not good enough for LFC, but I ask this question?!? DO YOU ALL SEE WHERE WE ARE IN THE TABLE! N'Zogbia is a special talent, that if put around the Stevie G's, Torres', Kuyt's, Joe Cole's of the world he WILL only thrive and get better. He can shoot with both feet and with the right mix of players will become a valuable asset! £7m and loan out Pacheco to play under the guidance of Martinez (will only help him)
((I know we all hate when players go out on loan and we take a chance with injuries a la Ayala, but it gives them a chance to experience bigger crowds and more intense situations than being "groomed" in the Reserves, such as Ince, Darby, even last year with Eccelston-Need to do the same with Amoo and Bruna))
Before Falcao went to Porto I started up a rumour and it lasted for a bit, but nothing was done. Now look at this Natural Scorer go! £15m might entice Porto, but they paid in excess of £25m.
Moving Poulsen out and bringing in either Muntari or Lassana Diarra would be a wise move. Getting that "Makalele" Factor would be wise for LFC which will allow Gerrard and the wingers/ Forwards up more! Then we see Goals, Goals, Goals, like we had two years ago when Alonso was so good at patroling the the back of Midfield (Even Ever Banega is a great option)
Then we need to sure up the bench with impact players like the Fairclough's and Yossi's of before! I've mentioned Park Chu Young from Monaco (Has flair and controls the ball well, with an eye for goal!)
Eden Hazard and Ola Toivonen would be perfect, but they will not move until next summer! With the new transfer rule coming into play, we should be expanding our LFC culture back to playing some preseasons in Asia and even a couple in the middle East. With NESV in, we'll be playing in the U.S. as well. With the rule stating that clubs can only spend what they earn, the playing fields will be more wide open and we'll not have to worry about the ManCity's or Madrids etc. It will be based on smart technical directors and even though we're all probably skeptical of Commoli, I truly believes he knows what he's doing!

Good luck LFC in the transfer window. There's still a chance to get into the top 4, but we'll have to string together 6-7 wins in a row and not concede points to losses!

LFC transfer news
Gervinho has apparently already signed and will move on 1st Jan.
There is news of £2million bid for Palace teenager Wilfried Zaha
Lucas is the subject of an 8million quid bid from Villareal. please let that be true.
Carlton Cole? oh god. we'll be in the championship before you know it !
i'd rather we got ben arfa, gomez or sturridge from chelsea, if all else fails.

Woy has said that he will only buy players who will make a difference to the squad or who are young talents. i have a feeling he may be replaced by Dechamps before too long.

Don't make too much of the Carlton Cole thing on Sky Sports. Sky Sports know as much as we do and are simply playing the guessing game.

They provided no solid evidence that we have renewed interest in Cole, apart from saying that a "representative" was "said to be present" from Liverpool were at the Fulham vs. West Ham match. So they don't actually know if a representative from Liverpool was present or not?

Unreliable at best.

Honda was in the champs league last year and scored a cracker against sevilla, that also how people know about necid. don't worry about being linked with cole, we were linked with scharner and figueroa in the summer, did that happen? no! so shut up and wait, hodgson said we will only sign potential stars and players who would make instant impact to the first team. if he thinks cole would impact then surely comolli will see otherwise. i will say it now we can say goodbye to potty signings and say hello to signing top stars. some potential youngster called Wilfried Zaha is being targeted and comolli was watching chamberlain the other day, gervinho a top winger is subject to a bid. those are players who roy described so don't worry.

Cole was left on the bench for the game with Everton because of ongoing knee problems.Basically, Grant felt that he couldn't risk him for two games so close together. It's common knowledge at Upton Park that Cole has had knee problems all his career.

Hi there,

great website. I wrote in some time ago about the chance of us getting Arda Turan, my sources were incorrect. But these sources that are suggesting that Roy Hodgson is gona make a formal bid for Carlton Cole, please Ed can u tell me if they are correct. Because that would be a big big disgrace and mistake. Please, NESV/ FSG. . they must know after the phone in on live tv that Liverpool fans are not happy with Roy Hodgson's appointment. The attempted signing of Carlton Cole explains to us all that Liverpool are indeed going in the wrong direction, even ngog has a better goals to games ratio than carlton cole this season. Bring in another manager please. {ed's note - I don't believe the stories are true, I just can't see why the rest of the transfer panel would have any interest in a man with dodgy knees and lack of ability.}

Calm down sport. Of course no-one is 100% certain that we are getting Honda but he is a player many of us rate highly and want to see, added to the fact that he has been strongly linked with our club. And "zero indication"? I'm not so sure, I think there is some indication (even if little) that we may atleast be interested in him. When he returned to VVV apparantly he told team-mates that Liverpool wanted him and he would like to come to us (reported in a Dutch newspaper).

And you say you are "very, very sure we won't sign Honda", yet you go off and rant about others having no indication that we are signing him? Well what indication do you have that we won't be signing him?

And of course most didn't know who he was before the World Cup. What exactly is wrong with that? If a player has quality it is up to him to prove it on big stages like the World Cup or the Champions League.

{Editor's Note: You cannot ignore the influence of Comolli - he has been bought in to give advice over transfers and the board will listen to that advice. Mr Henry will not be making the decisions on who is a good and who is a bad player. Tom Werner will I expect make the final decision on a case-by-case basis of what is put in front of him to justify the cost of a player. The key thing will be it must show an improvement to the squad. On a side issue, you perhaps may want to solicit the views of Sharkey on Comolli.}

"Liverpool will complete their first sigining frm Bayern Munich Mario Gmoez according to close source. Bayern willing to let go and now player and LFC still have personal terms to sort out. After so long liverpool will have world class player joining red army."

Complete rubbish, mate! Gomez is the only guy Bayern have up front who can score, and he has been in such superb form that Bayern can hardly afford to sell him. Add that Beckenbauer has been making the most of his role as honorary president by blasting former president Uli Hoeness for his transfer policies, I don't see the Kaiser selling his only proven striker up front. There are questions about who will be in Bayern's goal, I can't see Beckenbauer creating more questions over their winter break about who will be up front scoring by selling Gomez.

What makes everyone so sure were getting Honda? most of you are speaking about him signing with arragence, but why there is ZERO indication of this at all. p.s. the whole "under wraps""Liverpool way"theory doesn't cut either as anyone could claim the same thing about anyone. im very, very sure we won't sign Honda and im very, very sure 80% of you wouldn't know who he was if it wasnt for the world cup

Who are liverpool looking most likely to sign in the Transfer Window?? . . if you had to bet who would you say are the 4 most likely? . thanks. {ed's note - to be honest I would expect it to be players we aren't expecting, I think it was Marveaux(sp?) that we have bid for, but I don't think 4 players will be joining.}

To clear up the Aguero supports LFC chatter.
May 2008

A small bit of the interview taken from the BBC sport site with Aguero. . In this part he mentions he supports Liverpool in the CL

Would you ever consider playing in England? Do you follow an English team?

"The Premier League is of course an attraction but so is the Spanish League, both because of their renowned footballers and level of play. But right now I'm enjoying my time here in Spain, so I'm not even thinking about change"

"I watch Premier League games on television but I'm more fixed on the players than on the teams, especially because in England the footballers are of a larger size. . ."

"I do root for certain teams when watching Champions League for instance, like Liverpool since Fernando plays for them, but I am very content here."

Would still like him to play for us though. Lets see what the new guys do for the club. Its good that all is "quiet" hence SSN and other misinformation experts throwing the rumour nets out to see what they trawl in. SSN has never favoured LFC noe craptalk etc. .

Then why not calm down and wait like the rest of us to see what happens. Hodgson may still like Cole but there is no reason to think that Comolli does or that FSG (NESV) are going to go against everything they said. Show a little maturity and don't panic in public until or unless it happns.

It's "boil" mate i just can't believe we are going to sign Cole and more amazed that NESV are going to sanction it?

Blair Mayne YNWA

{Editor's Note: So how do feel about this Paul Furlong to come in as player/ manager rumour then?}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
That's the 1st time i've heard it Ed. Like i keep saying i don't believe rumours so i wouldn't take no notice of it. I'll stick to facts mate we tried to buy Cole in the summer but that fell through. Hodgson's liking of the player has never recinded and looks like he'll get his man in January.

What i do have to clear up is i do not hate NESV or want them to go. But if/ when we buy Cole it will go against everything they have told us about their transfer policy. Like someone said this is their 1st transfer market and if/ when we buy Cole it dosn't look good for future transfer windows.

Blair Mayne YNWA

{Editor's Note: You cannot ignore the influence of Comolli - he has been bought in to give advice over transfers and the board will listen to that advice. Mr Henry will not be making the decisions on who is a good and who is a bad player. Tom Werner will I expect make the final decision on a case-by-case basis of what is put in front of him to justify the cost of a player. The key thing will be it must show an improvement to the squad. On a side issue, you perhaps may want to solicit the views of Sharkey on Comolli.}

I am with Blair on this one, but just wnat to say if we do sign Cole - THAT WILL BE due to the inexperience of our board and blind faith in Hodgson. If we sign Carlton 'the lump' cole - I will be sorely disappointed. The key point here is - We cannot afford to waste money - esp if the owners are new in this game - can you imagine when he is deemed a failure (inevitably) - then NESV will be even more tight in releasing large funds for players we actually need at LFC. We need creative players - player sof Nasri, Tevez, Adam Johnson ilk - not donkeys.

So far I have been compiling a list of players we have been linked that meet my "fan" approval" - all offer creativity, youth, pace and goals - I have catorgrised these as realistic and unrealstic signings:

Realistic:

Hulk, Honda, Young, Piennar, Greizman, Gervinho, Elia, Wolfswinkle, Suarez

Any 3 of the above would be awesome!

Unrealistic:

Lukaku, Hazard, Aguero, Llorente, Gomez

Any 1 of the above would be out of this world

On top of these I also like the idea of signing one or more of the below players:

Payet, Matuidi, Wickham, Chamberlain, Drenthe,

Trick question - I can guarantee you one thing - there are no donkeys in any of the above lists!

YNWA!

OFFICIAL: The technician Villas Boas renewed for another year with the Porto
12/ 29/ 2010 09:28
The Porto coach, Andre Villas Boas (who was an assistant engineer with Mourinho at Porto, Chelsea and Inter) has extended his contract another year, then that will expire in 2013.

Atletico Madrid: Aguero is sign the new contract
He approached the signing of the contract renewal between Atletico Madrid and "Kun" Aguero Sergio (22), Spain: the new agreement will bring the engagement of the attacker to 6 million € net per year and will have a deadline of 2015. Curiosity more important in terms of market concerns, however, the termination clause, which is expected to fall to 45 million, instead of the current 60.

Any thought on potential manager ed, as there just aint many available decent ones available anywhere in europe.
Also RH says no players to leave in Jan (doesnt Babel only have 18 months left on his contract. If he aint being offered a new one surely JAn is time to move him on.
Jim22

{Editor's Note: Nothing on a new manager until the summer. The article you have on Aguero is old - the final deal gave him 120k euro net a week (equivalent of £200k before deductions) and the 60M escape clause remained unchanged in the end.}

Lets get this all in perspective. i agree with the ed, what have NESV done. I wouldn't believe what is written on other sites etc. . if we did we have been linked with loads of players from dross to class.

i like many cannot see Carlton Cole as a liverpool player but to be fair i didn't see Emile Heskey either but he was.

If a manager seems a player good enough to play for liverpool i will give them the benefit of the doubt and back them until i see fit too. we have too many fans now who jump on the back b4 anything has even happened.

Get off NESV backs they was good enough to safe our club, so am gonna be good enough to give them at least 5 years to help build our club. cos lets face it we gave the last 2 managers 5 years each, so whats another 5 years. we will either climb back up the league again, or slide back down it. but lets face it if the other 2 clowns where still in charge, there would only be one place for us and that would have been championship not Champions League.

We are liverpool fc, lets do what we do best and get behind our players. .

I find myself in the position of being in complete agreement with the stark warning that the following editorial comment provides:

{It is pretty hard to see what NESV have done wrong right now. I really don't see that any players will be signed without the agreement of Roy Hodgson, Comolli and then, probably, Tom Werner. NESV have made all the right signs of wanting to be responsible owners but it is clear that the fans are not going to give them a chance and want them out. If they do as you wish Blair and sell up, would you accept venture capitalists next? Because that is what we would likely see.}

Along with the editor, I am sick to death of ungrateful and ignorant fans attacking our new owners without having a sound reason for doing so. NESV, or the Fenway Group, have lifted the great burden of debt under which the club was previously drowning. They have been utterly professional and respectful in their dealings with the club's fans. They have begun to put in place a sound infrastructure. Their low key and humble approach have delighted me thus far. It beggars belief that people are attacking them, particularly as the forthcoming transfer window will be their first as the club's custodians. What on earth are NESV supposed to have done that is so awful? They should be applauded for their efforts on behalf of Liverpool Football Club and its supporters. The Lionel Blair's of this world would do Liverpool Football Club a huge favour if they would change their allegiance to Manchester City. Good luck for tonight, chaps.

Anyone please?

Blair Mayne YNWA

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Maybe if you bothered to watch the west ham V fulham match you'd have noticed cole was feeling his groin for the remainder of the game after scoring his second, so I imagine he was on the bench as a precaution considering groin injuries are sensitive and there was only a days rest between both matches.

I do have a sinking feeling that he may well end up at Liverpool, as a fourth choice striker I wouldn't mind, but please not as first 11 :-(

That's why he's benched every game?

{Editor's Note: You can want to keep a player without him starting every game (Rafael, Kakuta, Shelvey ...). There is no chance of Dzeko - and there never has been - as I have stated repeatedly but for some reason it does not seem to sink in for some people.}

SSN says:

'A representative of the Anfield club is said to have been at the Hammers' Boxing Day victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage, where the 27-year-old (CCole) scored twice in a 3-1 win.'

This is the reason they are putting 1+1 together to = Carlton Cole.

However, just as feasible to suggest Liverpool were looking at Hangeland, or Dempsey or even Scott Parker.
Now to be honest I don't particularly want any of these at Anfield, but SSN are not backing their story up with anything other than a Liverpool Rep was (allegedly) in the crowd.

I signed Stefan Jovetic on football manager last year and he was simply awesome maybe Hogson and Comolli have been playing FM10 and used genie scout to find all the big stars of the future. . even Carlton Cole was good on their im now convinced that's where their getting the scout reports from. . .

Ed's you ever play football manager and are thrie any names i should look out for lol >.<

Stefan jovetic to emerge as a target for us. honda will probably sign and gervinho is in fact a target for the left wing.

well believe it or not evertons scouting team have had a deal with SIG games and football manager for a few years now to use their game for scouting purposes (and on FM11 buy chelseas Matej Delac (GK))

Yea but Man.City have Balotelli, Cruz, Silva, Adebyor and Jo. More than enough to deal with a crap Villa team. West Ham were playing Everton and the Hammers are fighting for their PL survival so why do they do leave their top goal scorer on the bench?

No matter what way any of us look at it we have to admit it was a strange decision by Avram Grant. But you can gurantee the decision to leave C.Cole out against Everton was not made by Avram Grant but by Sullivan and Gold as they seen the £ signs.

I don't want Carlton Cole at LFC of course i don't but stop being in denial it's gona happen.

Blair Mayne YNWA {ed's note - Cole was on the bench purely because he is not fully fit, certainly not fit enough to play twice in a couple of days.}

So it looks like Roy Hodgson has got his way and we are going to sign Carlton Cole.

What happened to NESV's policy of signing good youngsters who are value for money? Like i've said before i don't think NESV are listenening to us fans. If they did they would know we don't want Carlton Cole or Roy Hodgson.

You can slate me for this all you want because i don't give a toss.

Blair Mayne YNWA

{Editor's Note: It is pretty hard to see what NESV have done wrong right now. I really don't see that any players will be signed without the agreement of Roy Hodgson, Comolli and then, probably, Tom Werner. NESV have made all the right signs of wanting to be responsible owners but it is clear that the fans are not going to give them a chance and want them out. If they do as you wish Blair and sell up, would you accept venture capitalists next? Because that is what we would likely see.}

RE:
29 Dec 2010 09:26:10
Dion't be getting carried away by this 'Aguero to Liverpool' speculation on this board. Yes it is unusual that he would opt to spend Xmas away from his family. Yes it means that he is probably in negotiations to transfer somewhere in the UK. Staying at Maxi's? Why not. It's Christmas and Maxi is a mate and it's better than staying at a hotel this time of year. The fact that Maxi is a Liverpool player and Aguero a Liverpool fan is I feel unfortunately of no significance - a 'red herring' if you will.

We don't have the money to sign him. Loan him maybe but not sign him - the wage level he demands would cause significant unrest amongst other senior players in the squad. If he's here for that then my money is on either City or United - they can afford him, we can't.

RED LENIN

1. If we loaned him we'd still have to pay his massive wages
2. United can afford a player with a reported £50m buy out clause? Really?
3. City only have half a squad of strikers, so I guess one more wouldn't hurt. .

In all seriousness I think Kun was just here for a holiday.

According to danish papers, lfc are offering agger around europe, without informing the agent and player. wolfsburg was one mentioned club, as their manager told the press, quotes etc, about getting offered the player, and he also said he had the impression the player was offered about to others as well.

{Editor's Note: My understanding is that Liverpool are looking for Agger to possibly go on ,oan for the rest of the season. They cannot finalise anything without agreement of the player.}

Hey ed was just wondering say we sign Honda and he goes the asia cup wen wud he be eligible to play for us if japan were to make the final {ed's note - the final is on the 29th January.}

Ok, so Honda plays in the Asian Cup & the final is on the 29th Jan. Hodgson states on the Liverpool website that if there is any transfer dealings in Jan, it is usually towards the end of the window. Does this mean he is looking to see if he comes out of the Cup uninjured & how well he plays? Personally I don't think so, but I do know there's alot of fans on this website that look for hidden messages. So there you go, make of it what you will. Lol

The Irish Rover

{Editor's Note: There would have to have been discussions beforehand. Certainly it would not be viable to wait to see how he plays in the Asia Cup, and it has been known for caveats to be inserted in contracts related to injuries sustained prior to a move taking place. It also rather depends what other interest there is in the player.}

Birmingham City are back in the hunt to sign Liverpool forward Ryan Babel but the Merseysiders will not let him go unless they can get hold of Roger Johnson in return.
Babel was a target for Alex McLeish's side in the summer but the Dutch flyer turned down a move to St Andrews. Birmingham have not given up hope of changing the player's mind as he has found playing time limited at Anfield under Roy Hodgson.
However, Liverpool will only sanction a deal if they get something themselves, namely Johnson. The 27-year-old has been a revelation since starting life in the Premier League in 2009. His performances alongside Scott Dann have seen his name linked to an international call-up with England and has had bigger clubs in the division sniffing around him.
Liverpool are confirmed admirers and are in the market for a centre-back and see this latest development as the perfect opportunity to offload an expensive failure and sign a much needed asset.

Re Aguero

Surely ED, if LFC have signed this player the fee must have been massive considering he just signed a new contract?

Could Wages could be matched through goal scoring bonuses, league position etc etc

Would be a brilliant signing if it was true! If not what about the other Argie geezer at Real M Gonzalo Higuain?

OR Perhaps Maxi might be going to Athletico M?

Ed your thoughts pls!

can i just add to the above, if nesv really wanted to they would buy him, they have done it in baseball for top players, & henry said that he would return liverpool back to the top?? well im afraid this is the only way it will happen with signings like this.I do mean this is the only way back to the top anything less & its doomed for failiure.

Ed, sometimes you talk complete and utter rubbish. He left City because he felt Chelsea had more opportunities of winning things and there was going to be less competition for places bearing in mind Man City's new found wealth. If he wanted more money I'm sure he would have stayed at City. How does this translate to him having a poor attitude!? IMO we'd do well to sign him {ed's note - total and complete rubbish, he left City because they wouldn't pay him as much as Chelsea offered. Hodgson is set to lose his job as manager of Liverpool FC. The owners do not like the way he has constantly criticised the playing staff and the way he has been singling out players via the media. Hodgson has lost the backing of the owners, the players and more importantly the fans. I do not have a list of potential candidates for the role but it is certain that Hodgson will be removed sooner rather than later.

Of course there is. Surely nobody would think he was in Liverpool for any other reason than to partake in the generous deal that Tesco had given us. There is a picture of him with his family and Maxi's family altogether- there are about 15 of them. They spent Christmas together- Aguero didn't reject his family!

- - - - - - -
to second Ed's comment, Aguero has indeed been in L'pool to see Maxi, and in his own words on Twitter 'sorry to my family back home whom I can't see this Xmas'.

The fact that such names as Aguero are being mentioned just prove the optimism and belief that NESV have brought back to the club. Long may every L'pool fan dream of seeing world class talent again at Anfield.

GoodKopBadKop

only takes a day to get there then he has a few days with his family then fly back not that difficult for him, he also has just as good friends as maxi in madrid also his wife and kid is in madrid, i think hed of rathered of spent time with them than maxi, , only reason hed spend xmas here is for talks

I would love to see Aguero at Liverpool my only issue with the whole twitter comment is depending on what you use to translate the text it says different things.

Goolge "In Liverpool, going on holiday with my friend Maxi Rodriguez La Fiera. Merry Christmas!"

Bing "In Liverpool, spending the holidays with my friend Maxi La Fiera Rodriguez. Merry Christmas!"

Maybe someone who actually speaks spanish without needing a translation tool could clear that up!

Daily reader here, and whilst i appreciate that this is a rumors site and therefore the validity and trustworthy-ness of sources of information is always going to questioned, i just wondered which sources of information are considered the most reliable?

It seems that everytime a rumour is suggested from an external source, someone undermines its likelyhood by claiming the source is unreliable.

So short of an offical club announcement, which sources of rumours/ information are widely considered to be reliable?

Signed a red fan desperate for some good January transfer business.

What so instead of spending time with his family he thought ohh i know ill go to liverpool for christmas be far better ha ha {ed's note - difficult to go back to Argentina over the Christmas period for him, time doesn't really allow for such a long journey.}

to second Ed's comment, Aguero has indeed been in L'pool to see Maxi, and in his own words on Twitter 'sorry to my family back home whom I can't see this Xmas'.

The fact that such names as Aguero are being mentioned just prove the optimism and belief that NESV have brought back to the club. Long may every L'pool fan dream of seeing world class talent again at Anfield.

only takes a day to get there then he has a few days with his family then fly back not that difficult for him, he also has just as good friends as maxi in madrid also his wife and kid is in madrid, i think hed of rathered of spent time with them than maxi, , only reason hed spend xmas here is for talks

I understand there is a new wage structure under the new ownership, i don't know the details.But when names like Kaka are being banded about im pretty sure his wage demands would supercede any new wage structure.Not to mention that injuries have meant he has lost his pace and sharpness and he is nearing 30 but he would sell shirts.Kaka is not going to happen

Liverpool will complete their first sigining frm Bayern Munich Mario Gmoez according to close source. Bayern willing to let go and now player and LFC still have personal terms to sort out. After so long liverpool will have world class player joining red army.

Oh god really hope this is true, superb player.

why would Bayern let him go now? they wouldn't in the summer and he has been playing and scoring this season?

I agree with red lenin on the aguero situation and about getting carried away. However I don't agree with not having any Money statement, NESV have been very careful not to mention money and amounts and have only made statements that are open to inturpretation rather than giving definates. I am not saying we have money, all I'm saying is that I think no one out of the club really knows it just a case of wait and see. I also don't think united can afford him. Personally I believe alot of prem clubs will have been put off from buying Argentinian players. They seem to get home sick alot and want to go back home or Spain, well masch and tevez anyway, maybe I'm generalising a bit there after 2 occurences. I doo agree that auguero wages are too high though. I think nesv won't want to pay that.

Because of our hectic schedule in January expect a signing very early on to add depth and new blood into the squad, because of this, I don't think Honda will come till the end of the window despite us being in talks with him now. We'll be looking for a few loan to buy deals in my eyes to come in and make an instant impact early on, Mario Gomez and Daniel Sturridge look set to finally add some striker cover for the 6 months.

I'd expect 2-3 new signings with a further 3 on loan. Busy times ahead

Rumour from a good source.
Liverpool have made an enquiry to the availability of kaka.
They are hoping his poor form and ongoing injury issues will make an approach acceptable.

Aguero is looking more and more likely.
He was seen in Liverpool, when he could have gone home for his winter break.
He has friends on Merseyside in the form of El Nino and Maxi.
He has admitted supporting Liverpool.
In an interview with German media he stated that if he were to move it would be to the premier league and that he would love to play for Liverpool who he supports, and watched the Champions League final, celebrating each goal as if it was indepente.
He fits the NESV model.
Comolli has stated that if we have a chance of gettinga world classd player then the funds are available.

Ed, you have to agree, it is looking more likey, a marquee signing is it not?

So just on the liverpoo website, and saw that daniel sturridge is demanding a loan deal with liverpool to 'kick start his career'. what do u think ed?? good piece of business? ? {ed's note - not at all, he has a very poor attitude to the game, which is why he left City for Chelsea. Money is everything to that lad, Chelsea offered him more than City would at the time.}

Stefan jovetic to emerge as a target for us. honda will probably sign and gervinho is in fact a target for the left wing.
