Eds, out of curiosity, obviously Sturridge has only been with us a short time but have any clubs shown an interest in him since he joined? If so, who? I can't remember any media outlet reporting it.

{Ed001's Note - no idea and none would be entertained anyway.}

Sturridge looks like the kind of player who would stay even if offered a bigger wage. Just my opinion anyway, sometimes it looks as if he's a local lad tbh, just loves being here. #redordead and everything.

Agree2 Disagree0

I have no doubts he would stay, it would just be interesting to see whether international teams have paid attention to him, he certainly has the ability so was just curious as to who may have asked about his services.

Eds after reading the rumour re Lucas leaving on loan to Napoli, I wanted to ask would the club seriously consider a loan offer for him? I hope we wouldn't be that naive.

We are not blessed with too many defensive midfielders and although some posters might say Lucas isn't the best there is, he is a good player and I think we need to be careful not to dismantle our whole team by adding in too many new players.

If a good offer came in that the club felt it simply couldn't refuse then that's different, but a loan deal? That would be stupid I think.

Believable30 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - last I heard the club were not interested in a loan move.}

29 Jul 2014 20:46:15
Come on then Eds, LFC fans, who we after next? Anyone got good intel? Sincerely hope we keep momentum with quality additions to the first team. We are just a few signings off being a stron TEAM!

anyone (especially the Eds) heard of any interest in anyone that's not being reported by the media? Does this ever even happen anymore? I think Assaidi was the last signing that took my by complete surprise.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it does happen, mostly with youth signings, but sometimes signings do come out of nowhere. Very rarely with a club the size of Liverpool though.}

I consider any move that happens within the span of few days a "surprise". Typically, its well known who we are looking for and what position they will play.

I would be satisfied with a left back (likely Bertrand, who wouldn't be bad with two great center backs beside him and bit more regular football) ONLY. We only need an additional attacking player if Borini goes, and preferably an obvious upgrade if we make a move - Bony, in my opinion, constitutes an obvious upgrade.

Reus is injured and Dortmund don't want to lose him anyway. Shaqiri seems a lost cause, unless Pep outright told him something he didn't want to hear and now he's angling for a move. The latter in particular would be great on the left side of a front three, but that's what Markovic was purchased for, and I'd think Rodgers sees him as our long term player in that position -- though he obviously has a lot to prove.

Honestly, if I could make moves for our club, I'd do my best to find Johnson/Agger/Lucas a happy home and take this as an opportunity to lose their high wages. None of the three are automatic first picks anymore, especially in the case of Agger, heavily linked with Barca.

I'd keep Toure as 4th CB (Kelly 5th). Rotate the other 3 as needed.

Liverpool have agreed a 17 million fee with bayern for shaqiri

Believable41 Unbelievable144

Eds can you shed any light on wether this is true or not? I really hope this is true as IMO the lad is pure class and is going to get better and better, could see that at Basel as well as at münchen, proper bargain as well, especially considerin his world cup hat trick and classy displays, They normally put the price RIGHT up, I really hope this one true and will be well happy with the summer business if Brendan has pulled this one off an all!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no idea sorry, I have literally just got back from the pictures. Last I heard we were not even talking to them at all.}

What did you go and see, ed?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed003's Note - fifty shades of suarez - happy birthday ed 001}

30 Jul 2014 10:12:18
Cheers mate, that's exactly what I thought judgin by what you and Ed002 had said in previous posts about the lad, just with the way this post was posted as matter of fact and not a rumour the excitement level went up. A quick google search reveals crunchsports and as the only sources reporting this in the last 14 hours so the excitement level went RIGHT DOWN again. Still hope this one turns out to be true tho. Soz for chewin ya ear off ha nice one

Agree0 Disagree0

I search for news on shaqiri all the time, because besides reus (which is more of a dream scenario, ) he's the best we can get in my opinion.

A few days ago rumours of us completing the deal resurfaced again. But then yestetday quotes from his brother came out saying he was no longer interested in leaving bayern :(

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - And Liverpool bought Lallana and Markovic.}

To agreeing a loan deal with lfc for Lucas . Any one
Heard anything .

We should not be negotiating any loan to buy deals with any Italian clubs. From previous dealings!!

Agree2 Disagree0

Last I heard were they wanted a loan which we rejected out of hand and insisted on a sale or nothing.

Personally feel he should and will stay as he is a good player and we need a good strong squad.

Agree3 Disagree3

Kinda feel for Lucas, wish him all the best should he leave

Origi deal complete. Going to Lille on loan for the season.

Believable64 Unbelievable13

29 Jul 2014 14:27:14
Eds, it was said a bid for Bertrand was forthcoming. I assume Liverpool have made it known that they will meet his valuation, is there any reason the potential deal is moving relatively slowly (given the early interest and that Chelsea are willing to let him go)?

Believable4 Unbelievable28

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't worry about the speed it moves at.}

29 Jul 2014 14:45:58
Hi Eds

Have we ever looked at Jordan Rhodes from Blackburn or Danny Inges from Burnley, I think both are great talents especially the later, I know they may be a risk considering they've only played championship level but do you think either could make the grade at the top level?

Believable6 Unbelievable22

{Ed001's Note - looked at and decided against.}

29 Jul 2014 12:58:45
Origi deal being re- negotiated to allow the player to play for lfc this coming season with lille looking for somewhere in the region of 18.5m euros(sorry eds!).reason for hold up in confirmation and I believe the player has passed a medical

Believable24 Unbelievable47

{Ed002's Note - It is fine, if Liverpool want him now the price goes up.}

I think if it is a possibility we should pay it, but its not my money. I'm sure he could contribute now.

Sturridge, Origi, Lambert,
Markovic, Lallana, Sterling, Coutinho, Borini

That's enough attacking options for me.

Agree2 Disagree2

Eds do u see this post a possibility or would the price be to high

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have answered it in the original post!!}

Reports saying he has signed but being loaned back 😉

Fancy some bacon to go with that egg on your face? ;-)

30 Jul 2014 10:10:48
effectively Ed002 if that were to happen, that would be all for forwards right? I don't see us buying another one after that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am expecting another player (as Remy was planned) to join.}

29 Jul 2014 12:12:16
Hi Eds,

May be reaching a bit here but used the search function and only relates to benzema coming to us with Falcao going to madrid,

So news has came out that Falcao could be available for 10 mill on a loan for a year with an extra 35 million the following season,

Are we interested in him? And not to talk money but could we afford him do you think as no doubt big spenders Monaco have him on some ridiculous wage?

Thanks

Believable7 Unbelievable45

{Ed001's Note - no, no, no, no, no.}

Yes let's pay 10 mil to loan an injured player for a year. Why isn't everyone doing this!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Id take that as a firm no then

29 Jul 2014 11:10:29
Ed's multiple sources are reporting Agger to Barca is now very likely. We've heard it all before of course but with Lovren signing and Agger seemingly 4th choice it would make some kind of sense this time.

Is there any truth to this one?

cheers

Believable29 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - It is possible, but they have a preference for someone else.}

29 Jul 2014 12:26:00
Hummels or Marquinhos?

{Ed002's Note - Try the Barcelona page.}

29 Jul 2014 10:32:47
hi, eds. With all the news I'm reading about reus is it really true we are in for him? also, have we looked at higuain?

Ratan

Believable8 Unbelievable31

{Ed002's Note - I truly would not hold your breath over either player moving to Liverpool this summer.}

29 Jul 2014 09:15:17
Papers sayin origi wil now stay with Liverpool any truth?

Believable31 Unbelievable16

{Ed002's Note - He hasn't moved yet - if he is not to be loaned back his price would go up.}

29 Jul 2014 09:01:01
would you be happy with pierre emerick aubameyang? has there been any interest in him

Believable5 Unbelievable22

{Ed002's Note - There has been a lot of interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and there is a chance he could well be moving to England. Liverpool has shown no interest.}

Arsenal ed?

{Ed002's Note - No. Try the European pages.}

I'm pretty sure it's Chelsea.

29 Jul 2014 07:13:04
Eds on going through the search function I saw Ed002 suggesting that he thought Liverpool would go for Pedro (barca) if suarez is sold and eventually was surprised that Liverpool didn't ask for him in the Suarez deal.

1. Have Liverpool scouted Pedro in the season before.

2.And do you think Brendan Rodgers could mull over going back for Pedro after the Remy's deal fell off.

Believable4 Unbelievable23

{Ed001's Note - 1. Yes. 2. I have no idea sorry.}

Alright kenny.
I'm surprised your asking the eds about potential players. If anyone's going to be in the know, then surely it's you?

Agree2 Disagree0

Well all I know of have either been signed by us or others, so catching up with those who I dont. :-p

29 Jul 2014 03:54:39
Agger to Barcelona pretty much done, 15m euro

Believable55 Unbelievable53

Really? Love him to be honest, never seen him as Barca quality though. BR clearly doesn't fancy him.

Agree1 Disagree2

This would be a great move. We'd be getting good money for a player on high wages on the bench. Agger has been fantastic for the club it would be nicer to see him starting for them rather than wasting away on our bench.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jul 2014 11:38:57
I like agger also but you can't blame Brendan he wants his own stamp on the team now this is how it is in football I guess agger probably needs a new challenge as well imo.

29 Jul 2014 01:52:00
hi eds

have Liverpool looked at shane long, I think he would be a better choice than jay rod, plus he does not play for the saints

Believable3 Unbelievable53

{Ed001's Note - no, he is average on his best days.}

Sorry Ed001 I'd have to disagree with you there. I think he's very good on his best days it's more a problem that his best days are about 30% of matches. He might be very good for 12 matches and get 8 goals as well as contributing other than goals and then he'd get 3 goals his next 20 matches.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - we will have to agree to disagree because I have never seen him be any better than an average Premier League striker, despite watching him regularly over the last few years. He works hard, but he doesn't do anything with all the effort. He is like a slightly better Kevin Doyle, or a far worse Kuyt on a bad day.}

29 Jul 2014 10:55:06
Very unfair opinion on a decent hard working striker ed 001, if he was English he'd be at a bigger club.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - rubbish, he works hard but does nothing. The epitome of a headless chicken that lad and it is complete rubbish to suggest it is anything to do with his nationality. It is only because he is Irish that he has any backers, because his ability is made to look far higher in such a weak team, if you want to go there with the nationalistic bull. Decent is probably about as good as he gets.}

Ed, I'm with you he's a grafter and a bit of a nuisance but he's not a great striker. He's at his level I would suggest

Agree2 Disagree0

Fair enough we'll agree to disagree, I see your point. I do think though on his day he is very good. He is extremely quick, he has a huge leap and wins a lot of headers against much taller centre backs and he is a lethal finisher for a couple of weeks each season. An absolute nuisance would be the best way to describe him but my point is that he isn't consistent at all and I'd agree with Chris in that I think he's at his level.

Wouldn't agree with Rob on the nationality being an issue. West Brom were happy to cash in when they only had Marc Antoine Fortune up front - that's embarrassing. If he was so good they'd have kept him, started him for the rest of the season and he'd have signed a new contract.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jul 2014 12:49:52
No nationalistic bullShit about it ed 001,sorry if it came across that way.
But you had to mention Kevin Doyle,who in my opinion,plays like one side of his brain doesn't function.
And to call Ireland a weak team is disgraceful.after all we were very unlucky in last qualification group,and didn't we outplay a certain team at the home of football last year.albeit a draw game.
Can't remember who that lad was who scored one of the best headers iv seen.
Oh ye.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - oh yes not nationalistic at all. Talk about proving my point for me! Ireland and England are both weak teams.}

29 Jul 2014 19:47:54
Bit of banter ed,cheer up
one question if you have time,
where exactly do you see Martin Kelly's career going In the next few years?
Iv noticed you rate him very highly, and sometimes I can see why,but does he have the talent to hold down a place in our back line.
Thanks in advance ed 001

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if played as a centre back, I feel he will be an excellent player. At right back, while he is good enough to play there, his physique is not suited and he will continue to suffer injuries.}

29 Jul 2014 23:31:13
Thanks ed,
Good point on his physique.
Hopefully the lad proves you right .
