Hey Eds. Matip today has been linked with PSG with report mentioning they're considering him as Silva's replacement. Have you heard anything on that front?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, sorry.}

03 Aug 2020 07:10:30
Why would he go there. He is class, like gomez. Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world. PSG are really half a club in comparison.

He’d be difficult (and expensive) to replace as he is a good centre back, unless PSG are offering completely stupid money then it’s an easy “no”.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 07:46:02
Because he’s not a starter at the moment, and might be there and probably get twice the money - not saying it’s happening but it’s not inconceivable.

Studoc Money Money Money and he would be first choice. He would win medals every season without fail.

ed001 if it is true and psg are going to offer £50m for Matip what do you think. I would snatch there hand off nothing about the players ability just how much he gets injured. I see it say Matip has missed over 60 matches over a total of eight various injuries since joining in 2016.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - take it, you have to when the player is so injury prone. Sad to lose him because he has improved so much into a top class defender, but it is pointless keeping hold of a player you can't rely on to stay fit.}

03 Aug 2020 10:06:00
50mill surly not!

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 10:08:46
Maybe the club are thinking lovren and matip leaving could free up the funds for Diego Carlos. Hopefully Carlos would stay fit long enough to play the numbers of games matip and lovren played.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 10:32:54
Lol 50mill for matip. For a player that's rarely fit we should take the money and run. Buy DC and maybe even squeeze for Lloyd kelly.

03 Aug 2020 10:48:35
Jordz, that is the way i see it. Whilst i rate Matip highly, both he and JG are injury prone, and so should a decent offer come in from PSG, i would take it and buy Carlos.
If we brought in Kelly to replace Lovren, and Carlos as a starter, we would have, probably the best defence in the world.

03 Aug 2020 11:31:18
For 50 million I would bite there arm and leg right off take the money and dash away as quickly as possible .

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 12:17:34
spaceman I would not say Joe Gomez is injury prone just had a coupe of bad injuries where Matip seem to pick up injuries every time he he gets a run in the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 13:11:55
When you put it in terms of £50m then it’s harder to say no to be honest, as that’s the bulk of the cost of Diego Carlos.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 13:23:03
Are we sure this isn't a typo and it's actually £5m 🤔.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 16:02:51
Doubt its a typo. Matip is a world club champion, European champion and Premier league champion so worth 50mill.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 16:13:03
Ligue 1 probably suits Matip better in that it is less physical and more technical. And the new Missus probably finds Paris to be more romantic.

I doubt the rumour is true though, because 50 Million is quite generous. I'd take even 30 Million and spend it on a 23-24 year old and secure the next 4-5 years for the same position (in competition with Gomez) . Important thing is to find a backup for VVD since Lovren is gone (he played on the left for Southampton remember? )

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 16:33:46
Lovern was a world club champion, a European champion and a premier league champion. How come the club didn't get £50m for him?

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 17:47:17
I won't sell matip for 50 million unless we are 100% sure to get in 1st team defender in.

Ed's02 any interest in divock origi from anyone. I think he would be a tremendous signing for someone. not that I want him to leave but he should be starting regular for someone with his talent. Leeds I think would be a good fit. with Biesla in charge he could excel under his management. what you reckon?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approaches to Liverpool.}

02 Aug 2020 16:38:55
I see it said Villa are after Divock Origi think that was coming from the **** though. If they did make a move for him think it would be a good time to move him on at 25 he needs to be playing and he is never going to get in ahead of are front 3 and if anything he looks like he has dropped behind Minamino as well now and if Brewster comes back he will be behind him to.

Agree0 Disagree0

LB - Lloyd Kelly or Jamal Lewis
CB - Llorente, Ben white or Kabak
Winger - Sarr, Saint Maximan

If we get those three positions signed we’ll have strengthened the team and brought in some good young players who can grow to be top quality.

Highly doubt any other positions will be sought after. Maybe a CM if another leaves eg Milner or Gini.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2020 12:31:55
I reckon if we signed Lloyd Kelly we wouldn’t go looking for another CB as he covers both positions. Out of Sarr or Maximin, there’s potential in both of them that could be unlocked so either of them would be decent options as they’re both big, very quick and skilful.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Aug 2020 18:34:14
I'd love us to sign Sarr, been a big admirer since he had his worldie game against us, I reckon between Klopp and his mate Mane, they'd turn him into a beast.

I wondered Eds whether Joe Hardy is being considered for the first team in competition games if Brewster were to go out on loan again?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what the plans are for Hardy.}

02 Aug 2020 19:04:31
Thanks for the reply Eds! I hope you have a good evening :)

Where has the ASM rumour come from?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2020 22:19:30
RH18 i think Ed001 said that Glatzel would've played cup games if he hadn't been injured. Brewster should stay to play in the cups and Glatzel should go on loan to regain match fitness as Brewster has.

03 Aug 2020 07:14:11
I think if you look at the teams. Citeh need 2 centre bks. Utd need at least 5, Chelsea are not addressing their defence and gk problems. Liverpool have no weaknesses. There will no massive buys world footy is on its arse. Even utd are going 2nd best with Hudson-doi. I think Liverpool will buy but teams have no dough.

Newcastle's win/ lose record with and without Saint-Maxamin is crazy.

If you averaged the points across the whole season when he hasn't played, they'd have finished 19th and got relegated.

If you averaged the points when he has been playing, they'd have finished 3rd and qualified for the Champions league.

For that reason, I think that Newcastle would want an absolute fortune for him. He's an excellent player but because he is so explosive, he might keep picking up injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2020 15:17:47
Milner-won it all. Nap for Leeds without the club standing in his way. Who could blame him?

We are being linked with Kostas tsimikas today and apparently his fee has been lowered, he seems like a great option for the squad if it's a serious link very much like Robertson, Ed's do u think there is any legs in this one?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Kostas Tsimikas (LB) another option for Leicester if Chilwell were to depart but a Work Permit could be an issue in England unless a reasonable fee is paid. Yuto Nagatomo is due to be replaced in the summer so Galatasaray have looked. Third pick for Napoli as a Faouzi Ghoulam replacement but they could end up pushing. Fenerbahce are short a LB and have Hasan Ali Kaldirim out of contract in the summer. Locomotiv Moscow have Maciej Rybus heading for the door this summer and have seemingly given up hope on Mikhail Lysov and have been in contact with Olympiacos over a deal for the summer. Sheffield United and Nice have looked and declared an interest and Nice have discussed terms with his club but have failed to reach any agreement.}

02 Aug 2020 11:44:22
Thanks for reply ed, obviously he is linked with a lot of clubs who probably want him as a starter so see how that one develops .

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2020 19:37:52
Ed u say permit if reasonable fee paid? Does that mean if u buy a player at such price u don’t need a permit am I taking that the wrong way cheers!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is a points based system and you need to get points from transfer fees and wages to be eligible. It will again change next year.}
