What do you think ed's in terms of value for money, long term view, etc. would be the best choice in terms of centre back?

Buy sakho
Buy dann
Let youngsters come through

and striker?

Buy higuiain (or someone of the same calibre)
Buy young prospect (lukaku, wickham)
Let youngsters come through and buy no one

Thanks

Mac {Ed013's Note - sakho higuiain}

I find us Liverpool fans a bit funny sometimes. We talk about how we want long term, as opposed to immediate success. We want a team of youngsters that will develop at the right pace together, play together for over 10 years, and win continuous trophies after a few years, as opposed to one league title and then nothing.

However, as the transfer window has opened, and we are linked to players such as Henderson, we turn our noses up and cry "Where is Aguero?" We already have two top class young strikers, why spend 40 million on one? Aguero is about on par with Suarez, but in my opinion lacks Suarez's drive and passion.

As far as I'm concerned, Henderson could be as good as Gerrard, and at 20, with bags of potential, will be one of the finest midfielders in the premier league in 4-5 years. Not to mention the fact that he is English will help, as that can only help communication At 15 million, smart business? Absolutely. Take a leaf out of Barcelona's book. Make the next Messi, don't buy him.

I know I'm leaving myself wide open to get slaughtered with this one but am I the only one who thinks Jovanovic may have something more to give? I just think that on occasions (rare though they have been) I have seen something in him.
Ed can you give me any support before everyone starts berating me?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - He may well have more to give, but I think time has come.}

02 Jun 2011 23:40:52
Ed, do you know of any further interest in Cavani and Lavezzi from Napoli ?
I heard that Cavani has just signed a new deal though. {Ed002's Note - Napoli want to make the move of Cavani permanent and offer up a player, cash and part ownership of a couple of youngsters. Part of the problem is that the player they wish to offer Palermo (Fabio Quagliarella) is on a loan deal to Juventus with an option to buy at the end of the loan, albeit he is out injured right now. Manchester City, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal have at one time shown an interest. I think it is unlikely that he will move to Liverpool.}

02 Jun 2011 23:40:22
hi ed could you agree with me on this or not pls its says in the echo that aqualani sorry if i spelt it wrong that we have to cough up 6 million euros for him and the end of june if that is the case wouldnt you thing kk and dc would sell him for 6 million and take a loss on him without paying any moneys do ya get were am coming from ed thanks m8 once again {Ed002's Note - The money is owed to Roma - from the original purchase. The club cannot simply not pay it.}

02 Jun 2011 23:34:48
stop the torres rumours plz , his not coming back and months ago you where all hating on him for leave so STOP ! and to all the people that think higuain is better then aguero NEVER aguero is far better , higuain is in a better team so he scores more goal but overall aguero is way better. i think the players there we are going to buy are Giovinco, Ageruo, dann, henderson , Izaguirre what do you think ED ? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps one or two.}

02 Jun 2011 23:30:08
Any chance of Lennon? {Ed002's Note - Doubtful.}

02 Jun 2011 23:27:33
Ed are Napoli at all interested in aquilani cos we could do a straight swap for lavezzi {Ed013's Note - The only clubs interested in him are juventus and inter Milan}
So why are we so confident of a sale if there isn't much interest. How much of a loss are we willing to take. I would rather bring him back than lose millions. It's a recession. Remeber?!! {Ed002's Note - The issue is his reluctance to return.}

02 Jun 2011 23:22:00
Hey Eds :), I read a newspaper article and i know there not to reliably but i it says that henderson is on stand-by to travel to Merseyside and complete the deal as soon as the two clubs agree a fee. do you know any truth in this? thanks JD {Ed002's Note - I don't I am afraid.}

02 Jun 2011 23:19:27
i dont think we will sign a right winger, i think we ll use dirk there until sterling is ready to make his first team appearances. this makes sense to me, i d expect us to sign a decent left winger though, dzudzsak , mata, downing, nzogbia probably in that order.

kalou would make an xcellent fourth choice striker, previous partner to dirk kuyt at feyenoord, a partnership which forged a lot of goals, he would be a good ebnch option imo

left back, i think it will be iazaguirre

cm, one of mcarthy and henderson, personally hoping for mcarthy

cd i would go for sahko, but i can see us signing scott dann

these are the types of signing i expect us to make this summer. i would love to see matas and sanchez but i just dont believe they are realistic possibilties

we need a left back and a top class left winger those are the two most important needs

02 Jun 2011 23:18:06
I miss alonso tbh, is there any chance of him returning would be amazing! Imagine how much service the likes of Carroll, Suarez, Gerrard and miereles would get with him as a deep lying midfielder. Ed is there any chance of this happening. Great site keep up the good work!

02 Jun 2011 23:10:44
Ed any chance of abel hernandez? Thanks {Ed002's Note - Not as far as I know.}

02 Jun 2011 23:13:11
ed do u think liverpool r negoitiating with players in secret great website btw {Ed013's Note - Yes most likely that is how clubs like to do things}

02 Jun 2011 23:12:37
To the poster that wrote

We have been in for Charlie Adam for a while, then Man u became interested. Sir Alex needs to replace Scholes. Probably getting a center mid is top of his list. Henderson gets rave reviews from Bruce. Bruce once said he is Englands best playerM maybe us going for Henderson is a smoke screen so Alex backs off Adam. Just a thought. Also watched Charlie a lot lately. He has long passes and free kicks equal to Alonso. Hasn't got the same movement but then again Xabi wasn't most mobile player

---------------

I agree that Adam was a target but I think that was when Kenny thought we'd get him on the cheap and before Spearing dramatically improved. I feel Henderson offers a better long term investment with ability to far outweigh Adam. I like Charlie he has talent but is very lazy and wasteful at times. He is nowhere near the class of Xabi, who yes wasn't mobile but had wonderful positioning and poise. He was also never wasteful he gave it short when required and hit 60 yarders when it was right to not quite as Hollywood as Adam likes to be.

I guess we'll see what happens but I doubt we'll sign both so for me Henderson is the wiser option.

On behalf of all the users of this website I would like to thank all the Eds.

Thank you gentlemen! {Ed003's Note -Cheers mate,from all the Ed's }

02 Jun 2011 23:07:58
I don't see why people keep saying about players being surplus to requirement. The best clubs have big squads full of talent and we want to be like that. In my opinion, if we think a player is good for us then we should try and buy him.

02 Jun 2011 23:07:11
have kop shoud any intrest in jesus navas {Ed013's Note - Yes in recent transfer windows but unlikely due to his illness}

02 Jun 2011 23:04:56
just a point someone mentioned kalou as a possible fourth striker, seems a good idea to me, he was dirks strike partner at feyenoord where together they scored a s**tload of goals, if he s available for 8 million i d do it

02 Jun 2011 23:03:40
Hey Ed.

people are talking about players' coming in and out but i just wanted your opinion on how much money you think will the owners spend? the players people are mentioning would go beyond or close to £100million which i think is ridiculous!

just wanted your opinion on a rough estimate.

thanks {Ed013's Note - Around 60-70m which includes money re-couped from sales}

02 Jun 2011 23:03:28
Emilio Izaguirre to LFC is a done deal.

kop should go for higuain he is quality and still quite young

02 Jun 2011 23:02:28
Madrid are approaching llorente with a package for Bilbao...why do they want Aguero?.....I really do believe aguero is not in Jose's plans.

02 Jun 2011 23:01:55
any news on mata ed {Ed013's Note - All rumours have dried up, it has gone quiet but this in my opinion means the owners are working on big transfers and have it on lockdown}

02 Jun 2011 22:59:52
Hey guys

I have just received information from a friend of mine who knows people who work in and around Anfield saying that deals for both Adam and Henderson should be wrapped up by the end of next week.

Problem is what will happen to the likes of Lucas, Meireles, Spearing etc.?

Cheers, Dan.

According to the fields of afield road group mata shall be a LFC within days I'm skeptical about this group what do you make of it ed?

It's confirmed that Criscito is leaving Genoa, highly rated and would be worth looking at !!!

To finally put these quite ridiculous rumours linking us with Aguero can I please point you to an article on the marca.com website. Sergio Aguero clearly states he would like to remain playing in Spain.

Aguero was always going to be a long shot, and in my honest opinion surplus to requirements. Our priority should be some quality wingers to provide some service and the previously highlighted weaknesses in the defence.

Thanks.

first henderson and now cattermole what with all these awful players we link with

Hi ed, what are the odds of Torres coming back? {Ed002's Note - No more than 8/10 so don't get carried away just yet.}
----------------------------------------------------
Ed 8/10? So where have these Torres rumours came from and is there any truth behind them or hopeful fans?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea where they have come from. Sorry.}

Ok thanks but is there any truth or realism in it???
Jordlfc {Ed013's note - Highly doubt it}

02 Jun 2011 22:36:35
According to Ben Smith of Times , Milan Jovanovic earns 110k a week ! Hence Joe Cole and Jova's wages reaches upto 1 million every month !
Disgusting. Now i can't see why won't we be able to afford Aguero's wages. Shocking ed ? I am blown ! {Ed013's Note - I found out the figures are skewed as the signing on fee is included spreading out over the time of his contract}

02 Jun 2011 22:35:04
Ed are Napoli at all interested in aquilani cos we could do a straight swap for lavezzi {Ed013's Note - The only clubs interested in him are juventus and inter Milan}

02 Jun 2011 22:29:03
I don't know if I am late with this but any way. I have been hearing that Higuain has been transfer listed by Madrid. IF this is true does this mean Madrid are making room for Aguero or Llorente and also this would rule out Benzema leaving wouldn't it? Could any EDs clear this up for me. Thanks

ClarkyTheRed {Ed013's Note - Yes they are most likely making room for another striker, i personally think it is Llorente. Also benzema is unlikely to be sold}

02 Jun 2011 22:31:56
I think we should go for Lavezzi. Because he is a good striker with many good qualities. He created much trouble for Liverpool in Europe. Both fast and good to dribble

02 Jun 2011 22:25:54
I think Torres is coming back he's doing a robbie keane do you think he'll come back ed ?? {Ed013's Note - No i don't}

Hi ed, what are the odds of Torres coming back? {Ed002's Note - No more than 8/10 so don't get carried away just yet.}

02 Jun 2011 21:56:33
Hi Ed's great site.
Just wondering if you reckon theres any chance of us signing Javier Pastore. Obviously he'd command a huge transfer fee but hes quality and apparantly malaga were interested in him (due to their arabic owners), so if he'd consider going to them then surely he'd want to come to us. {Ed002's Note - Pastore may well be moving this summer - it seems to be on/off week-by-week. Palermo is a difficult club to deal with (to say the least) and money is not something they are short of. They crave success and I would not be surprised to see him stay another season. Juventus have been knocked back with their standard offer of €20m in cash plus Raffaelle Palladino, Amauri and Sebastian Giovinco in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for Lampard and Manchester United are looking for a long-term replacement for Scholes. He is certainly not top of Chelsea's transfer list but they will keep a watching brief. The rejected bid that was publicised was certainly from Manchester City. Liverpool had shown an interest before Christmas but will struggle with the price - which if he is sold is likely to be the highest of the summer. Atletico Madrid are also interested buy I suspect that they will be priced out of the market.The fee will be in the region of £50M or a part ownership deal may well be negotiated. If I had to suggest a destination Barcelona, one of the Milanese clubs (but they have potential non-EU player quota issues) or an outside chance of Chelsea.}

02 Jun 2011 21:52:28
Park Chu Young confirmed he will be leaving Monaco. He could be a good buy, cheap aswell !!

Thoughts ed's ?

Tomo {Ed002's Note - I guess your ability to read the other posts is contrained by ... what was it?}

02 Jun 2011 21:51:20
Paul mcgratten didn't only just ask the question would we welcome Torres back but he also said everyone of us have made mistakes and the roof would come of anfield if he was to return .
Is the more to this or r we fans just reading to much into it ? I'd like ed's opinion if possible . ....... The chef kd7 YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - Would there be space with Aguero and Suarez and Carroll? And £83M is a lot for one player.}

02 Jun 2011 21:45:52
The Telegraph reporting that we are also looking at Lee Cattermole. Good player but lacks discipline IMO {Ed002's Note - Maybe Joey Barton can sort him out?}

02 Jun 2011 21:31:15
eds, is it true that torres may be returning to anfield? please be true!!! {Ed002's Note - I thought he was a figure of hate?}

02 Jun 2011 21:29:06
Sorry if it's been asked, but could you please answer.
Have liverpool had interest in Nani
I heard that Real madrid are very interested is this true?
Cheers, Nelly. {Ed002's Note - No, No}

02 Jun 2011 21:22:20
Hi ed, just a quick question, anymore news on moussa sissoko? would love him to come to lpool.

ty
Matt {Ed002's Note - Nothing I am afraid.}

02 Jun 2011 21:13:49
i think if he is a poor mans alonso he could work as a back up to gerrard and meireles. two problems, one does he want to be back up? two do we really need a cm more than a dm? or three why not get a J.Martinez type player that is comfortable at both positions because there are alot out there available at the right price. K.P.B, E.Banega, J.Martinez, F.Gago, sissoko, defour.

02 Jun 2011 21:13:00
tarbaat is good but nothing special. i saw him in the game againts derby and robbie savage had him in his pocket. and thats not the only game too.in the prem , a halfdecent DM would have him totally under controll. hes good when he has got time, but inaffective when marked closley. personally, i dont think KK should sign him- and he wouldnt be cheap.

02 Jun 2011 21:09:48
Hi Ed's, is it true there were 2 medicals for players coming in to Liverpool FC the other day?

Cheers guys {Ed002's Note - Possibly, but I somehow doubt it.}

02 Jun 2011 20:58:25
Hi Ed's

There seems to be a lot of Rumour talk of Juan Vargas being a target, Is there any genuine interest in him from KK & DC? and is there a chance he has an interested in us?. He fits the bill of what is needed, right down to his tattoo fetish. The only issue I would feel is his age 27ish high price and low resale value.

Thanks people, great site.

Markolfc {Ed002's Note - Yes there has been confirmed interest which you would have found out with the slightest effort.}

02 Jun 2011 20:49:35
Ed are we looking at bringing in both McCarthy and Henderson? What would happen to Shelvey in that case? All of them are around the same age and play the same position.... And considering that Lucas, Spearing, Gerrard and Meireles are already here, I don't get why we are looking at multiple centre midfielders, especially with us not being in Europe... {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

02 Jun 2011 21:08:55
i would have torres back in a heartbeat, but as eds say, he would have to build bridges

02 Jun 2011 21:07:59
Have not posted for a while, due to not hearing anything definite. But was told today Liverpool are talking to Al Habsi.

02 Jun 2011 20:54:24
Here's one for you all.

Steven Gerrard's best mate.

PaulGrat1 Paul McGrattan
Right this is not a debate it is a straight YES or NO answer. Would you have Fernando Torres back at Anfield? I just want a answer!! Go!

What you think eds just see what people think. {Ed013's Note - I would if he tried harder but he has to build bridges}

02 Jun 2011 20:50:51
hi ed what are your views on adam? i think 1-he is not good enough for us.2-i cant place him in a permanent position in our current team and dont feel he will have one when we make new signings?

what are your views on him? {Ed013's Note - I do think he is good enough as he is at a decent age at the moment and his passing and set pieces are good. WE need someone to play the balls across field and to the likes of Gerrard like alonso did.}

02 Jun 2011 20:50:32
ed because every club is doing it do you think valencia will value mata at 35 mil after the U21s WC. I dont see us getting him for only 18 mil..
thanks {Ed013's Note - No for a player like mata that valencia want to sell they will set a price as they know he is quality and clubs would pay it}

02 Jun 2011 20:51:11
02 Jun 2011 18:17:14
Aguero doesnt want to come to Liverpool and would rather stay where he is if big clubs dont come in for him. A more likely arrival for Liverpool is Matt Upson for £10m.

Wow, we must be feeling generous. Giving West Ham £10m for a player who's out of contract? Sweet tactic!

02 Jun 2011 20:34:18
Ed are Liverpool looking at a certain Ghanian player based in france who goes by the name of Andre Ayew? {Ed013's Note - We are reported to be interested but no approach at the moment}

02 Jun 2011 20:34:08
I can tell you that the two agents at Melwood on Monday were Gervinho's and Diego Perotti's

02 Jun 2011 20:28:34
I can understand wanting Henderson, he has got potential but with a price tag of 15-20m surely it has got to be too high just for potential!!

Let's suppose that we are in for Mata and he does not mind coming to us because Kenny sells him the vision. Valencia would be perfectly right to go: "we want 40m, Henderson has potential but so does Mata and he has proved it at a much higher level, if Henderson is worth 15-20m then Mata is worth 30-40m"

Ed how much do you think these inflated prices are due to the financial rules coming into play? Are clubs upping the price because they know that soon the fair play rules will prohibit the big clubs from spending well over the odds? {Ed013's Note - I don't believe it is to do with financial rules, clubs often say a certain price which is higher then what they would sell the player and buying clubs under price so they meet in the middle}

02 Jun 2011 20:24:08
ed, is it really worth saying that x and y are going sign, when infact the window doesn't open till july the 1st. {Ed013's Note - For the last time the window is open to sign players from British clubs and international window opens 1st of July so players can sign now}

02 Jun 2011 20:16:39
Just heard from my mate who works in the chipper, he is in the know on all things chip related, not so much with football but still in the know all the same, Liverpool are bringing back Fernando Torres for £20million plus Joe Cole it turns out neither player actually realised they were awake when they moved and had been expecting to wake up at any minute, Liverpool will then use Torres in a player plus cash deal that will see Aguero signing from Real Madrid approxamtly 2 weeks after signing for them because he is a liverpool supporter and he didnt realise that if he washes his Liverpool jersey in the same load as the Real jersey it will turn pink and he will look like a nonce. You heard it here first, this will defo happen FACT.

does anyone actually want henderson im from near sunderland and i go to games with mates and i must admit he is awful and even the sunderland fans hate him

hope bruce thinks same way we can have him for 5 million

02 Jun 2011 19:50:48
surely since we've being linked with Adam since January people know we are looking at another CM. And since it's all gone quiet on the Adam front, now we want Henderson? {Ed013's note - it is not that, he is young, it is good to have strength in depth and have people with potential to grow.}
----------------------------------

i understand that ed, i'm not trying to argue with you. I'm just pointing out that people seem more sceptical about Henderson than Adam, even though he is younger and as you say, has potential to grow. I couldn't understand why that was. {Ed013's note - i understand what you are saying, it was mainly out of the blue and it is someone new linked with us so they are going to spoke a lot for a while}

02 Jun 2011 19:39:23
Sorry i failed to mention the other left sided player to play in front of Juan Uargas in my earlier post.Juan Mata is the missing left sided player from my earlier post.Really need these 2 pronto .Jonny Boy6.

02 Jun 2011 19:37:53
why is there so much speculation about this transfer? when we were supposed to be getting Adam people just accepted it, instead of asking why. {Ed013's note - it is out of the blue. people knew we were linked with adam since January}

Just to confirm, the fake gulliem balague said Torres wasn't happy, the real one then said he never said that, so take no notice.
-----------------------------------------------

just to confirm, it was the same person. The real one was took out of context when he said Torres is still adapting to his new environment. It's on his website if you want to read it.

Andy Carroll to be sold back to Newcastle. Torres back to LFC. Any truth? {Ed013's Note - No}

Ed. Do you know why Liverpool want to buy Henderson for 15-20 millions to sit on the bench?

Is it because Meireles is leaving? {Ed013's Note - Because of his potential. he could become a brilliant midfielder. Meireles is not leaving}

eds, is there a possibility that kalou will become available in the transfer window as chelsea are purchasing a number of new forwards?! and if so is there any interest from liverpool as i think he would be a great asset to the team!! {Ed013's Note - No way. Not a chance.}

02 Jun 2011 19:24:42
Do you think will contact Sunderland again about Henderson ed. Thanks great site btw. {Ed013's Note - I do believe they will but if sunderland does not reduce their valuation of their player then the deal is unlikely to happen}

02 Jun 2011 19:24:29
Just heard a rumour about Torres returning as well, maybe there is something in this?

Scott Dann is off to arsenal unless we come in with a bid. Deal is all but signed. Info from player of lower league team who shares the same agent as dann.

These are players who i think us not just challenge for the top 4 who i belive are very attainable for what we can afford realistically. Juan Vargas LB 15mil Juan Mata LM/LW/RW 21 mil.Adam CM 9 mil. McCarthy CM 11mil. Henderson CM/RM 15 mil. Jones CB 12 mil. Downing RM/LM 17 mil and Negrado ST 16 mil.All real fans know who the deadwood we need shut of ala Jova.Cole N'Gog etc which should raise about 20 mil because i feel the deadwood is going to be so hard to shift and we need to free up wages so we will let them go lower then their market value in most cases. Someone has just told me gerrards mate or as I was told best mate. Has just wrote on twitter would Liverpool fans have Torres back. Obviously it doesnt mean we are gonna get him back. But it is what I've been told. Don't shoot the messenger Toxteth red

02 Jun 2011 18:43:53
Ed. Do you know why Liverpool want to buy Henderson for 15-20 millions to sit on the bench?

Is it because Meireles is leaving? {Ed013's Note - Because of his potential. he could become a brilliant midfielder. Meireles is not leaving}

Update On Vargas From Italian Newspapers -

Florence, Jun. 02 (ANDINA). English giants Liverpool are on the verge of bidding for Peruvian winger Juan Manuel Vargas, according to reports in Italy.
Corriere dello Sport claims the Reds are willing to pay as much as 20 million for the Fiorentina winger, who has been linked with an Anfield switch in the past and was rumoured to be subject of a bid in January.

Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli is a known admirer of the player, whose versatility has seen him play at both full back and central midfield for both club and country.

All this talk about Aguero. £39 million for 5 seasons?? I tell you what though, I'd give a million for half an hour with Christina Aguilera.

02 Jun 2011 18:24:20
JUST TO LET U NO FANS WHO PUT FABIO COENTRAO ON THERE WISH LIST HE HAS JOINED REAL MADRID AND MARCELO THERE LB HAS JOINED BENFICA

02 Jun 2011 18:17:14
Aguero doesnt want to come to Liverpool and would rather stay where he is if big clubs dont come in for him. A more likely arrival for Liverpool is Matt Upson for £10m.

02 Jun 2011 18:16:05
Been reading this site with interest for a while now, and feel that Juan Vargas should be madd a priorty for the left hand side.Very dynamic.powerfull and one of the best crossers of a ball in world football which we need urgentlly to get the best out of Carroll.Camoli wants to make this happen before City sign what would be my two favorite and effective left hand side in Europe. Jonny Boy6

02 Jun 2011 18:11:46
Out of the 3 CM's we've been linked with: Adam, McCarthy, Henderson which in your opinion are we most likely to sign :)

Thanks and keep up the great work ) {Ed013's Note - Adam is most likely}

The noises coming from Spain are suggesting the Perotti deal is all but done, it just is waiting to be announced on 1st July. Aquilani will almost certainly stay in Italy, due to his agent who seems intent that either way, an Italian club will get Aquaman. Aguero bid is apparently at 25-29 mil region + Ngog and Joe Cole I am told at this time. Source works for MARCA newspaper in Spain, very reliable. First to report deal of Torres to Chelsea, they somehow have inside info. Anyway hope the above is true :)

02 Jun 2011 18:04:25
Sky sports news said Kevin Doyle has been linked with a move away from Wolves any interest from LFC eds ? i reckon he'd be a good signing {Ed002's Note - Nothing I have heard.}

02 Jun 2011 18:02:02
what do you think the chances of us offloading poulsen, jovanovic and cole are? and who do you think would be likely suitors andfor what price?

cheers

02 Jun 2011 17:58:20
eds wil youes stop posting up anything got to do wit aguero . its never going to happen

{Ed002's Note - I appreciate that the story is rolling on its own at the moment, but it could "potentially" happen. Liverpool know what they need to do and the club may decide to make a pitch for the player. So I have already trimmed off the £63M deal agreed stuff, and most of the £39M agreed junk will be rejected. Perhaps we will let the odd humorous one through.}

02 Jun 2011 17:51:34
Just heard that liverpool have offered to buy Aguero's contract for 39 mil? Any truth ed??? {Ed002's Note - Not that I know of.}

02 Jun 2011 17:46:04
ED I can't be arsed scrolling down so can you just repeat the same things you've said a hundred times today yet again please -Mc {Ed002's Note - Sure ...}

02 Jun 2011 17:45:42
Hi Eds,
Is Aguero really worth all the hype? I mean he's got Tevez, Militio and Higuain ahead of him in the Argentina team.To be honest I think Tevez would be far more worth the 40 million transfer and £200 k per week than Aguero , I know it won't happen but I think we'd be better spending the money on a proven quality striker.

(please post this in rumours).

Rebel_red

What ye think Eds? {Ed002's Note - Aguero is a very good player but there are clearly a large amount of fans who don't want him at the club. I would have thought it would be a good buy if it could be pulled off - but it is hard to see how he would ever fit in. Certainly we could get rid of most of the talk about wingers.}

02 Jun 2011 17:45:24
hey eds, is there any intrest in any african players? i am a liverpool fan but live in ghana. thank you! {Ed002's Note - Only the French-based players mentioned regularly.}

02 Jun 2011 17:39:09
There was talk bout Marko Marin a couple of weeks ago. Just wonderin did nebody hear any more news bout that? {Ed002's Note - Read the posts.}

02 Jun 2011 17:38:43
Ed is there any news about us buying Erik Lamela? There were strong rumours of him joining a couple of months ago but they seem to have died away. I reckon he's who we should get as he's going to be class and he's not that expensive compared to the likes of Neymar, Lukaku and Aguero. {Ed002's Note - May leave River Plate this summer - likely destination is Italy with strong interest from Juventus, Roma, Napoli and Palermo. England is out due to very shady ownership issues.}

02 Jun 2011 17:36:04
When you look at it there aint many good left fullbacks out there is there really? Jack robinson has a lot of potential tho. Now that b.munich are buyin the lad from city id go for Phillipe Lahm, experience and pure quality and would help with the development of robinson and alex o'hanlon

02 Jun 2011 17:36:01
Ed , do you know of any interest from liverpool for miloslav klose ? i think he would be a good experianced striker to have at the club and considering he is also on a free aswel. what is your opinion on him? {Ed002's Note - I don't think Klose is a viable option. His wages including a very significant signing on fee and age would likely be a problem. No interest from Liverpool. Rumoured interest from Everton. Hamburg and Hannover are the only confirmed links I have. There is a note about possible Spurs and PSV interest but that seems to be speculation. Nothing else.}

02 Jun 2011 17:34:26
we need to sign mata at all costs everytime i watch him he produces i would definitley take him over ashley young seems to me he goes missing in big games quite often also if where looking at another cm what about ever banega hes young and very talented wouldnt cost as much as what sunderland want
ed what are the chances of getting these 2? {Ed002's Note - Mata is discussed endlessly elsewhere and Banega is likely Inter bound.}

02 Jun 2011 17:34:06
what do you think of ricardo alvarez ed? {Ed002's Note - I thought he had agreed a move to Arsenal - I would need to check.}

02 Jun 2011 17:33:46
eds, out of ten what do you think the possibilities of higuain joining the reds? if madrid buy a new striker then he may be forced out and for 15,000,000 i think he would be a quality signing! {Ed002's Note - 2/10. His availability was mentioned to me a while ago and my understanding remains that Higuain will become available if Real Madrid sign Aguero - and if that is the case then he will likely head to Turin. However, putting all thought of any £15M price tag out of your mind, there is no reason that would stop Liverpool bidding and being considered.}

02 Jun 2011 17:22:20
I am so puzzled as to who we should sign as our LB. Jose Enrique? Looks good going forward but his positioning & defending is in doubt. Emilio Izaguirre? Looks top class in the SPL, but the SPL has no quality wingers so unproven and very risky. Juan Manuel Vargas? People are saying he's similar to Coentrao, a wing back, so not what we need. The two that I would love to join just seem very unlikely, Aly Cissokho & Jose Angel.

Stone YNWA.

02 Jun 2011 17:12:17
Hi Eds,

What kind of signings do u expect
?can u give me a summary, because i'm slightly confused with all the gossip.

Thanks

(CAN U PLEASE POST ON RUMOURS PAGE?) {Ed002's Note - I am sorry, we don't do summaries. We provide extensive facilities to assist in the reading of all of the posts in order to not unduly influence any opinions.}

02 Jun 2011 17:05:49
i would just i like say im a liverpool-Real fan and i have been watching higuain for the past two seasons and he is worth way more than 15 mil, i believe he is twice the player aguero plus he will not leave.
thanks

02 Jun 2011 16:55:49
Looking at the potential signings, although we have been linked with 100's, the most serious targets we have come to be strongly linked with recently are all of a very high standard.
Looking at our team I believe the best signings would be Mata, McCarthy, Young.
Then we need a LB and we have been looking at ST. For a LB I would like Vargas. As a striker options are many, looking at it Real Madrid are willing to sell Higuain for around £15M, but I would go for Aguero with his £39M release clause, also I believe a decent back up would be Demba Ba, as he has a clause allowing him to leave West Ham on a free due to relegation, really decent back up i reckon!

Anfield Andy

02 Jun 2011 16:52:38
Jordan Henderson will sign for Liverpool for 15m will be announced on Saturday!

rather see dann and perotti for that amount

02 Jun 2011 16:41:53
what abt antoine griezmann {Ed002's Griezmann I am less sure about. Everything has been pretty quiet and no move appears on the cards at present. Valencia, Marseille and Lyon have shown some confirmed interest in the past and repordedly Barcelona have taken a peak.}Note -

02 Jun 2011 16:41:35
Ed - do you think we'll raise our bid of 13m for Jordan Henderson or not? Would personally love to see him in our midfield. {Ed002's Note - I refer to my earlier answer.}

02 Jun 2011 16:30:27
Ed, would appreciate any information on the following players, they seem to have gone quiet and just wondering whether their situation has changed:
- Aly Cissokho
- Steven Defour
- Blaise Matuidi
- Balazs Dzsudzsak

Cheers,
Stone YNWA. {Ed002's Note - (1) Always unlikely; (2) Signed new contract; (3) Put the money up and he could well move; (4) May still stay at PSV; if not maybe Italy.}

Thanks Ed!
Is Cissokho unlikely just because he plays for Lyon and their strategy of selling to English clubs? Because I'm condifent that if the two clubs agree a fee that he wouldn't hesitate in joining.

Stone YNWA. {Ed002's Note - It would mean the club expressing an interest then agreeing a fee. At present there is no interest.}

02 Jun 2011 16:27:12
this is **e***** speaking its the big one ive been waiting for confirmation before posting ed get this on asap liverpool have bid full asking price for AGUERO player due to have talks with officials from club please post this im not bulls**tting my source is senior player this is the gods honest truth im not messing about this time please get this posted

To all the people who are saying meireles is getting sold, why would we sell our best (if not top 3) player of last season who cleary has gotten better under KK, who also has title winning and champions league experience with porto.

02 Jun 2011 16:14:37
Hi eds great site, visit every day. Was wondering what you make of skysports saying we want henderson? and had made bid thats been rejected? do you know any more? Was wondering if a swap deal would be on or loan out of shelvey or something?Do you think another bid would go in?I would love to see a liverpool team full of english talent. be good for us and the national side.

{Ed006's Note - I think it would be better to have some mixture of nationalities myself. I have heard that we bid £13m but they are looking for around £20m. There is no doubt the lad is a good player but I would rather let Lucas, Shelvey and Spearing have game time rather than needlessly splashing the cash on a position we do not need.}

02 Jun 2011 15:59:12
I heard we were interested in Iker Muniain about a month ago, anyone heard anything on that?

----------------------------------------------------

Yes it would be a tricky deal, Man United have been monitoring his situation and apparently are prepared to meet Athletic Bilbao's £20m plus price tag. Its a similar scenario to Romelu Lukaku. All the top teams are interested but nobodys willing to cough up. If we do reignite our interest in Muniain and meet the clubs valuation then a move will certainly be possible but i have a gut feeling he could stay at Bilbao for a couple more seasons.

heard anything about the rumour where liverpool want drogba and are offering 10 mil and cole but chelsea want 7 mil and johnson? ED help me out man {Ed002's Note - I think it may be wishful thinking by the Liverpool fans.}

02 Jun 2011 15:21:32
ed don't you think 44 million pounds for patore is too much because that is what palermo demanded, you did say they were an awkward club to deal with. They have rejected chelsea's 30 million.

hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - Stock wording is as follows: Pastore may well be moving this summer - it seems to be on/off week-by-week. Palermo is a difficult club to deal with (to say the least) and money is not something they are short of. They crave success and I would not be surprised to see him stay another season. Juventus have been knocked back with their standard offer of €20m in cash plus Raffaelle Palladino, Amauri and Sebastian Giovinco in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for Lampard and Manchester United are looking for a long-term replacement for Scholes. He is certainly not top of Chelsea's transfer list but they will keep a watching brief. The rejected bid that was publicised was certainly from Manchester City. Liverpool had shown an interest before Christmas but will struggle with the price - which if he is sold is likely to be the highest of the summer. Atletico Madrid are also interested buy I suspect that they will be priced out of the market.The fee will be in the region of £50M or a part ownership deal may well be negotiated. If I had to suggest a destination Barcelona, one of the Milanese clubs (but they have potential non-EU player quota issues) or an outside chance of Chelsea.}

HI ED and fellow RED fans

i think we are going to do some very interesting business in the transfer market i work in portugal as a youth coach for the liga sagres side beira-mar and through my contacts with other youth sides in portugal and at tournament events i have noticed and seen numerous scouting parties from around the globe and being a liverpool fan myself i have spoken to liverpool scouting parties that have come to watch players from numerous portuguese youth teams and senior squads and what i have been told is that from a high source in liverpool backroom is liverpool are interested in the following players this summer.

zezinho (sp lisbon) around 5-7 million excellent talent

hulk (porto) i was told he is very interested in joining a established club with history and has spoken to anfield officials.

agostinho ca (sp lisbon) an excellent prospect in central midfield.

joao moutinho (fc porto) he is looking for a big european side to join very good pro excellent passer and i have been told that kenny is ready to sell meireles or swap him so i have been told that is gonna be the swap a return of a former captain to porto and liverpool get a great prospect

on other things i was told about transfers was get ready to see hazard, sakho, j mccarthy, nick powell, phil jones of blackburn. also i do not believe liverpool will try to sign a left back because i was told liverpools left back position has alot of good young options and will not be high priority as first thought but trust me when i say the percentage of these players named by sources will be bought or they will have a good go of signing them.

For those of you who are still unsure over jordan henderson (regardless of whether we're signing him or not).

"@OptaJoe: 82 Only four players created more goalscoring chances in the 2010/11 PL season than Sunderland s Jordan Henderson (82). Target."

Interestingly, one of the other four players is Downing.

Wel ed 13

Have you heard anything about new owners flying in uk today..

Pablo ynwa {Ed013's Note - Yes i have heard they are flying in but not sure if it is today}

02 Jun 2011 15:33:52
Ed why the hell are english players so overpriced????
We already paid 20m??? too much for Andy Carroll..As far as I'm concerned that money would have bought Aguero, benzema, Llorente...etc..etc..Henderson and Mcarthy being touted around at well over 10m at thier age??? same as connor wickham has football gone crazy??

annoyed dave {Ed013's Note - Clubs often over price players and interested clubs under price so they meet in the middle}

02 Jun 2011 15:26:49
I heard from my dad who works as a groundsman at the nou camp saying lionel messi, pedro, bojan, and afellay are moving to liverpool for 250million or a swap with steven gerrard

I think were should'nt spend to much money on a left full back Liverpool beat of Chelski, Real Madrid for the signing of Alex O Hanlon he scored 2 against Real Madrid and 1 against Ajax in an under 17 tournament in Amsterdam He's meant to be the new Gareth Bale.It would be a waste to spend big I think this lad could be in the first team in 12-18 months.

--------------
in case your not of this real world, o, hanlon as good as he might turn out to be is 15 years old, to expect him to challenge for a first team spot so soon is laughable

I agree we need someone asap my point is that its not unusal for a 16year old to make his debut Gareth Bale, Ryan Giggs, Jack wilshere etc its not that laughable.I do take your point on board though great site keep the good work up.

liverpool Will Release A 3rd Kit on 18th june 2011 YNWA

02 Jun 2011 14:56:12
aguero not the only player to command such a dom fee he is talented but hasnt proved his worth 40mil even pastore 40mil for him and both these player's struggle to make the argentina 1st team it would be a waste of money when mata is just as good as them as wel as other young talented player's that don't cost so much but are just as talented guess just because they south american players there teams think they got the next messi in there team lol anyway suso and raheem will blow these 2 out the water in 2years time.

One of the major positions we need to fill this summer is CD. What does everyone think of us putting a bid in for Christopher Samba?

He's a proven premiership defender and would likely not cost too much. He might not want to give up his captaincy, but I think he'd jump at the chance to move to a big club.

02 Jun 2011 14:48:38
i think liverpool should buy Hulk instead of Aguero , hulk would cost around 18-25 million , what do you think ED ? {Ed002's Note - 0/10}

02 Jun 2011 14:44:12

Raul Meireles looks likely to leave Liverpool during the summer. His contract has been under review recently (as part of the orginal deal to sign him) and Dalglish and Comolli have decided not to reward him with a new one. They are not stupid, they are professionals. Those who know the game of football do not succumb to the underserved hype surrounding him due to his brief spell of goals. They don't just see the goals he has scored but all of the anonymous performances and his inability to cope phiysically in the Premier League. He has been shifted out wide most of the time under Kenny to fit in better players like Lucas and Spearing. Meireles is unhappy about not being rewarded a new contract and will now probably decide to look for another club as he seems to believe that he could walk into any team. Dalglish and Commoli seem keen to replace him with a younger British player like Henderson or McCarthy. I see people have been posting their concerns about the central midfield position being overstaffed, but the plan is to sell Poulsen and Meireles (and obviously Aquilani) and to go into the new season with 5 players, Gerrard, Lucas, Spearing, Shelvey along with the new signing.

Do the editors have any information relating to this?

To.Ba {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

02 Jun 2011 14:40:00
fair enough ed, what are your thoughts on the matter? is it a case of cutting our losses now and selling him to the highest bidder? not that there will be a bidding war over him lol! or do you think a player plus cash swap is a possibility? cheers mate! lemon

{Ed002's Note - I suspect he will go to Juventus or possibly another Italian side (AC, Milan, Napoli, maybe even back to Roma.}

02 Jun 2011 14:39:28
Gonzalo Higuain is 2 x better than aguero and a lot cheaper wages and fee

02 Jun 2011 14:37:19
{Ed002's Note - His availability was mentioned to me a while ago and my understanding remains that Higuain will become available if Real Madrid sign Aguero - and if that is the case then he will likely head to Turin. However, putting all thought of any £15M price tag out of your mind, there is no reason that would stop Liverpool bidding and being considered.}
----------------------------------------

I love Higuain. Started watching real Madrid last season, he was playing great. It was a shame he hurt his back this season. I personally would take him over llorente carroll and Aguero. After the world cup I wandted Suarez Higuain and Podolski. maybe I can get 2 out of the 3. I thnk with suarez higuain would be great. I would pay 20-25 mil easily for him. I hope this is true.

Hi ed, keep up the good work. I just wondered if you could help me out with a rumor iv just heard.
Iv just heard that Liverpool are giving up hope of singing Ashley Young. Instead they are adamant of singing Downing but with the possibility of also getting Nathan Delfouneso. He is seen by KK as a player with great prospect that he can mould, plus hes English. KK is also looking at the possibility of a part exchange and cash for both players with Cole going the other way. Have you heard anything?

from what i have been told meireles is been sold not happy about his contract 2 be improved which he was told it would be after a year, thats why kk is looking at henderson as a replacment

Speculation is mounting that Liverpool are very close to making an offer for young Dutch international Elijero Elia, who currently plays for German outfit Hamburg.

Liverpool had previously been linked with Elia, that speculation had appeared to have died down a little, now however, the German media are claiming that Kenny Dalglish is determined to bring the young forward to Anfield and is ready to make an official approach, with a view to tabling a bid.

Elia a product of the Ajax Academy, started his career with Dutch side ADO Den Haag, he then went to FC Twente in 2007, before signing for his current club Hamburg in 2009, it has been his form since joining Hamburg that has seen Elia come to the attention of clubs like Liverpool.

hey ed, although i would love to see kun aguero come and join us, i am realistic and no the chances are slim, but i just wonderd why and when he became the hottest thing since football began. i know the boy is talented, but is he really worth 40m and 200k a week? he isnt first choice for his country, even when his father in-law was manager he started on the bench, so are we to assume the likes of tevez, higuain milito are better? would we pay them 200k a week? i just dont see what he has done to command those sort of wages, that clubs like chelsea and united cant put a package together? maybe he is pricing himself out of a move to england, waiting for a move to real? what do you think ed.

matt 27 {Ed002's Note - I really don't know what the question is Matt.}

02 Jun 2011 13:47:34
it clearly seems we have the power to pull in world class players (carrol and surez) i think kenny will want at least one world class signing, and the rest to be young, british or have EPL experience. i heard the most likely signings are
LB - Enrique
CD - Dann
CM - Henderson
CM - Adam
LW/AM - Downing
LW/RW AM - Marveaux
LW/RW - Mata
CF - Wickham (if the price is right, if not next summer) as can play 4-3-3 with mata/kuyt, or 4-5-1 or the prefered 4-4-2 with these players, will provide
. creativity, versitility, good resale prospects and youth (generally).

kenny needs champions league football next season so i expect to see proven EPL players to be the main signings.

Hazard next summer (hopefully), Ageuro is fantasic but wants CL and is surplus to requirements at Liverpool. and Young is ManU bound.

thanks for posting ED.

02 Jun 2011 13:40:20
Ed is there any news on us signing Kjaer from Wolfsburg? I think he would be a great buy to partner Agger and he's a Liverpool fan too. {Ed002's Note - I refer to earlier answers - read the posts.}

Do you think Henderson is being lined up to replace Steven Gerrard in the future

02 Jun 2011 12:34:32
I think were should'nt spend to much money on a left full back Liverpool beat of Chelski, Real Madrid for the signing of Alex O Hanlon he scored 2 against Real Madrid and 1 against Ajax in an under 17 tournament in Amsterdam He's meant to be the new Gareth Bale.It would be a waste to spend big I think this lad could be in the first team in 12-18 months.

--------------
in case your not of this real world, o, hanlon as good as he might turn out to be is 15 years old, to expect him to challenge for a first team spot so soon is laughable.

02 Jun 2011 13:31:13
Aguero signing a boot deal with adidas could this been linked to some sort of move? Which teams in the running for him currently have adidas as the kit sponsers? Thanks ed {Ed002's Note - Don't read anything in to it.}

02 Jun 2011 13:28:08
What are the chances that we will still get Henderson although we've been rejected? Will we still pursue him? Will he try force the move? What are the chances that he could still turn out for LFC next season? Did we go for him because we missed out on Mccarthy or were we going for both? Sorry, a lot of questions! Would be appreciated if you did answer them though :)
Thanks. Jamiekeeyy

02 Jun 2011 13:21:27
ed, if we get jordan henderson would it be instead of charlie adam because i have just looked him up and they are kind of similar.
thanks {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

Ed, why the high 6/10 rating for Perotti? {Ed002's Note - Because there is a reasonable chance he will join.}

Just heard that Joey Barton is a done deal, £35,000 per week.
Aparently he fell out with Stevie G a while back and they are having a meal together to see if they can iron out their differences. As soon as they do KK will swoop.

........................................................................

He's on about £60,000-70,000 a week at Newcastle, there is no way he would half his wages.

(ED whats your take on this, i was just relaying what ive heard. A friend has just text me saying he played golf the other day and bartons bro was behind them, they got chatting and he said yes done deal. I am hoping it is a false rumour as I think coming back to lpool city for barton will spell trouble) {Ed002's Note - I have no comment to make on the matter.}

02 Jun 2011 12:59:21
ed any new news on elia. {Ed002's Note - Elia looked nailed on for Valencia and I think may be a good prospect. Liverpool walked away from the asking price in January but may be interested again. If not, I suspect he may stay another year in Hamburg. Arsenal have also shown an interest.}

With the speculation around Henderson has this affected our pursuit of McCarthy and Adam. Ed, if you have time could you please rate out of 10 our chances of signing: Marveux, Downing, Mata, Young, Perotti, Dann, Enrique, Izaguirre, Coentrao, McCarthy, Adam

{Ed002's Note - 9, 4, 3, 3, 6, 7, 6, 3, 0, 6, 6 - all including the latest updates.}

Back to transfers ... I hope Henderson signs, he has shown his potential in many games. Box to box CM at the age of 20 ... 12-16m sounds about right.

Also, i would suspect Mata wouldnt sign for Liverpool if a champions League team came in with a sound offer.

Eds, any decent Asian players being linked? I know Standard chartered are keen for us to sign an Asian player for marketing purposes?

Great Work Eds! Keep it up! {Ed002's Note - Standard Chartered are, fortunately, not in charge of teh transfer policy. The only serious links have been with Honda and Park-Chu Young - and it seems pretty quiet on both fronts.}

02 Jun 2011 12:26:15
Summer Signings;
Benoit Tremoulinas (Bordeaux)
Scott Dann (Birmingham)
Sylvain Marveaux (Rennes)
Diego Perotti (Sevilla)
Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid)

02 Jun 2011 12:13:01
What are the chance of us signing Gonzalo Higuain, since Fernando Llorente is Heading to Madrid. I think Higuain would consider leaving and would be a better player than Aguero plus he would cost cheaper.

{Ed002's Note - His availability was mentioned to me a while ago and my understanding remains that Higuain will become available if Real Madrid sign Aguero - and if that is the case then he will likely head to Turin. However, putting all thought of any £15M price tag out of your mind, there is no reason that would stop Liverpool bidding and being considered.}

02 Jun 2011 12:11:37
I work in the finance department for one of Liverpool's main sponsors (a German one) and I have information stating that A. Young has decided to join Man Utd over Liverpool...will try and find out more when I can on this and other transfers!

Great work Eds...keep up the amazing work!

02 Jun 2011 12:11:23
ED, are we actually linked with Aguero or is it all just rubbish? And who do you think are the players that will most likely join this summer, your opinion? {Ed002's Note - I have explained exactly what the situation is with Aguero in numerous previous posts. I cannot speculate on who is the most likely to join.}

02 Jun 2011 12:06:30
Ed have we signed McCarthy ? If not is it nearly done ? thanks. {Ed002's Note - No he has not signed. There is confirmed interest though.}

02 Jun 2011 12:05:42
im not happy with all these players we are linked with and kk trying to sign.. over 13m on a sunderland player henderson come on now, his a youth. and mcCarthy i dont rate this guy at all. i hope he makes better signing then these.

02 Jun 2011 12:01:41
Ed I keep hearing that young is comin to us, then utd, then us etc. Where is he most likely to end up? {Ed002's Note - Manchester United.}

02 Jun 2011 11:52:18
Christian Poulsen - along with some cash - will go to Wolfsburg, home of the midfielder's old declared admirer, Felix Magath, while Simon Kj r will go to Liverpool to partner Daniel Agger.
Juve will drop out of Kjaer race in exchange for 5m off the aquilani price.

02 Jun 2011 11:47:51
liverpool have agreed 39million pounds with athletico for sergio aguero
source: my step dad has inside info in the club, he got a text that roy hodgson would be liverpool manager and 2 weeks later he was.
choose to believe it or not

02 Jun 2011 11:46:40
Good to hear that we are trying to sign Jordan Henderson aswell as James McCarthy!!

Both quality players for the future and present!!! Why are people moaning about were they are guna player etc

The premier league is about have a squad good enough to win the league, exactly what Liverpool have lacked over the last 10 years...

KK is trying to bolster the squad, not just the first team and signing these two is a step in the right direction.

be great if we cud also sign

Scott Dann
Matt Jarvis
Phil Jones
Stewart Downing ( plays almost every game )
Leighton Baines
Darren Bent

02 Jun 2011 11:37:15
VERY INTERESTING NEWS:

The chances of Aguero signing are now being described as "low" for a few reasons:

1) His wage would totally destroy the PL's wage fairness campain or whatever its called.

2) He wants to play Champions League football. This is what he aspires. HE wants top quality football week-in week-out.

3) There will be other clubs which will or may offer a larger fee to Athletico for the player. i.e. the likes of Chelsea. However I do not see them buying him as they are reportedly after either Naymar or Lakaku.

ALSO.....

Manchester City's attempt to Sign Alexis Sanchez are now beginning to fade. Not saying we are going to jump in. Just saying that the King and JWH is right. We are going to be able to compete at the highest levels in the transfer market.

No idea why we are trying to sign Jordan Henderson. We have plenty of central midfielders as there is. We have the likes of:
Lucas
Spearo
Gerrard
Meireles
Shelvey
and plenty of Young talents that will want to break into the first team in a few years, the likes of:
Coady
Suso
Irwin
etc.

And news on MATA:
DC has apparently gone out to spain to discuss with the Spanish side. Valencia are reportedly wanting a fee in the region of £22 million pounds.
We are the favorites to sign the lad. And i can't wait to see the out come.

And don't get your hopes up to see Eden Hazard.

DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!!!

man city has frustrated of their target signing of alexis sanchez and gave up.and now will try to sign juan mata and made a bid of 30 mill !
so ed"s we have to say good bye to mata, isn't it ?
it would be frustrating for me really !

{Ed002's Note - We don't know that. We do know that Manchester City have already had one bid for mata turned down. Perhaps they will head after Aguero instead.}

Can everyone stop been stupid, and ed give us the current position where we are in the transfer market, most likely transfers at the moment and material from good sources, thanks

I think ashley young is a great player but if he decides us just over united i DONT want him. no liverpool player should ever think of joining united even before or after signing that dotted line for liverpool.

(0)

(0)
my mate used to hang out with young in his watford days talking to him he told me ashley is a down to earth honest guy.
he is looking for the best move to progress in his career and to win trophies which is fair and above all the bloke wants to play football,
this reason alone could make him a liverpool player this year as with nani, valencia and the prospect of rooney playing wider out left he sees his first team options limited.

to be honest mate, the post man could have guessed we had luis Suarez, it was on the crads for motnths

02 Jun 2011 11:07:33

if we are going for both henderson and mc carthy, where are they going to be played??? i honestly cant see where thay are going to fit in, they are both centre midfielders and yet we already have gerrard, lucas, spearing, meireles and shelvey for centre midfield....if they came in it would be a wee bit over-crowded.

02 Jun 2011 11:07:16
Lets forget about signing big money superstars like hazard and sanchez kk is trying to build a young team for the future thats why he is looking at mccarthy and henderson. Mata and downing may well come in to for the wings and expect a offer for scott dann for around 12m!

Cheers, ste

02 Jun 2011 11:05:45
Ed, is there interest from Liverpool for Napoli's Marek Hamsik? Certainly better than Meireles and could be the perfect Gerrard replacement?

Also, all the Sissoko rumours have gone quiet what do you think is going on there ed? Thanks

maka {Ed002's Note - No interest in Hamsik that I am aware of. And there is nothing further on Sissoko at present.}

02 Jun 2011 11:04:49
Don't expect kenny to be going for the likes of aguero or neymar. He wants to bring in young, british, talent. Expect moves for the likes of Mccarthy, Henderson, Sturridge.

02 Jun 2011 10:46:00
I've been watching a few clips of QPRs Taarabt, this guy looks great 15 goals, 19 assists, lots of people questioning his attitude, but there is no doubt he has talent, just 21 and if kk can calm him down he could be worth a punt. Anyone any thoughts on this, i'm sure we were linked with him in January.

{Ed002's Note - Taarabt has already had a shot at playing in the ELP. If he leaves over the summer I suspect it will be to sunnier climes probably taking the likes of Liverpool and Dortmund out of the equation. There has been interest from Italy, notably from Napoli, and I suspect he will head for the Mediterranean. I think Malaga will be in with a significant shout for him.}

02 Jun 2011 10:43:50

Whats going to happen with aquillani ?? he has said he wants to stay in italy and play for juventus but he would not mind coming back to liverpool if he has no option from italy ... {Ed002's Note - I refer to earlier answers.}

02 Jun 2011 10:31:58
I do think mata will sign but nothing will happen until the under21's have happened same applies to Jordan Henderson

02 Jun 2011 10:31:00
Henderson bid of 13 million rejected. Personally, I wouldn't want to go much higher for him. Sunderland want 20 million. Should we be paying that for an unproven player.

02 Jun 2011 10:29:01
I posted earlier about talking to J.McCarthy's cousin,
well looky hear, I couldnt find anything in the news about him signing yesterday but on liverpoolfc. tv it has stated that the wigan manager may have to deal with his departure to liverpool. So I reckon its a done deal

LFC Paddy {Ed002's Note - It has been all over the news all week.}

02 Jun 2011 10:28:03
i have a source in liverpool and they say that there is going to be a big summer of spending

Augero (40 mil)
Mata (20 mil)
young (20 mil)
Honda ( 12.5 mil)
lavezzi ( 15 mil)
Hamsik's (25 mil)
hazard (30mil)

{Ed002's Note - So £152.5M spent - looks like you got kenny's list some how.}

02 Jun 2011 10:25:55
Aguero is NOT in Jose.M plans at Madrid he is after Fernando Llorente he wants tall strikers (target men) that can be serviced by wingers and the LB/RB hence Coentraos signing because he is very attacking and this is why he also signed sahin and Altintop. Higuian Departure all depends on the Llorente deal which is kept quiet by Madrid.

02 Jun 2011 10:22:29
please listen!

Adam and downing deals to be completed in about a week, also liverpool have made an approach for portugese winger quaresma :-)

With all the talk on Anelka and Drogba getting the boot which would you prefer Dalglish to try get?
I personally think Drogba, a proven goal machine with good vision speed and strength

02 Jun 2011 10:17:34
{Ed002's Note - Yes, there have been confirmed talks with his representatives.}

How do find all this stuff out? I'm on the Internet everyday looking and never heard nothing of it

Also, speaking to my trainer in college and he says he knows a women who works for Newcastle (didnt ask her role) and she's told him Barton will be our first signing

02 Jun 2011 10:14:44
Sunderland have no intention of selling England midfielder Jordan Henderson to Liverpool or anyone else this summer.

02 Jun 2011 10:11:24
Jordan Henderson, would be an excellent acquisition to our Squad.He can play in a number of positions and as already been capped by England.In my opinion he is a much better player than both Shelvey and Spearing.This is the type of signing we made in our hay day and one which we need.The lad has proven he can compete at this level and he's only 20, so he will make massive strides in the coming years.I hope he comes here, as I thought he was nailed on for United.

Hi Ed's just want youre thoughts on adam johnson i was led to believe he's coming this summer but i wasnt so sure what do u think ??? ....... meanwhile i strongly think henderson and dann will be concluded shortly depnding on danns fitness issues. Also Ed do u think its worth having a look at Demba Ba as a back up striker i think hes half decent and got to be better then Ngog tbh

cheers Realistic Kopite Matty {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure Johnson will be making the move. The club has seemingly settled on targets for another striker and I am sure Demba Ba will be looking for a regualr first team start.}

02 Jun 2011 09:45:11
Just a thought on all this Aguero hysteria. As one of the Eds keeps saying in his posts about Arda Turan "I dont know why we have not followed up the interest in Turan". He loves Liverpool, Kenny loves him and it wouldn't be too difficult to get him. Are we leaving the coast clear for Atletico to sign him under some pre agreement ? {Ed002's Note - No, there will not be any such agreement. It was not just Atletico who were interested and it seemed likely for a while that Villareal or Dortmund would be his destination.}

02 Jun 2011 09:39:22
{Ed002's Note - Aquilani does not want to play for Liverpool - he has made this abundantly clear over and over again. Why would you want someone like that in the dressing room. And selling the player will cover what is still owed on him and perhaps £5M-£6M more only.}

i agree with you, i dont want him in Liverpool mainly because he doesnt want to be here. but Ed, with juventus out of the picture, is there any other team thats in contact or could buy him? any known interest?

thanks
Kaizer

{Ed002's Note - I would not totally discount Juventus and there are several clubs who could be interested in the player, notably AC Milan and Napoli. Perhaps a retun to Roma would be an option. They will probably consider everywhere except Lazio.}

02 Jun 2011 09:32:30
Forget Aguero for 40m if Higuian is avalible for 15m(even if it is more like 25m) he would surley be a better buy because of his price. Also if we sign a world class striker we will have to play a 4-3-3 formation as Carroll, Suarez or Higuain won't want to sit on the bench, so we won't be buying 2 world class wingers if we buy a word class striker. It drives me up the wall when people say we will buy Mata, Young, Aguero and Hazard, 2 maybe but not all together!!!

ED your thoughts?

DanTheRedMan {Ed002's Note - My understanding remains that Higuain will become available if Real Madrid sign Aguero - and if that is the case then he will likely head to Turin. However, putting all thought of any £15M price tag aside, there is no reason that would stop Liverpool bidding and being considered.}

02 Jun 2011 09:19:27
Its amazing how before yesterday there was not a single Henderson rumour. Yet all of a sudden people are claiming that they've known about a deal for him for a couple days. If you knew, how come you never shared before? Stop pretending to be in the know.

02 Jun 2011 09:05:04
Eds. Rumors are coming up regarding Simon Kjaer. Any interest from liverpool? How would you rate him against Dann or the other CB possibilities? {Ed002's Note - I am not going to make comparisons but can confirm that I know of no interest in Kjaer from Liverpool at this time. He will most likely be leaving Wolfsburg this summer and almost certain to return to Italy - although there is interest from elsewhere.}

I Heard That Liverpool Enter The Race For Birmingham City Sebastian Larsson.I never wanna see him wear the bird on his chest don't think he is worthy enough.here are sum of the wingers i like and have been linked with over the past year n a half ashley young arda turan eden hazard juan mata alexis sanchez jesus navas garath bale so they r the people we should be lookin at not larsson.
----------------------------------------
Mate, do you really think that we want him to play regular first-team football. NO! and if you do you are dumb. Dalglish wants three wingers, (RW FIRST-CHOICE), (LW-FIRST CHOICE), (LW BACK-UP). Its clear to see that cole and jovanovic arent good enough. Larsson is he is home-grown, good free-kick taker, and prem experienced, all attributes of a good BACK-UP. The left winger we want is mata the highest quality, this is for the first-eleven.

My Dad has been in Scotland for the last week or so and he says that there were lots of talk of Kenny bein interested in a quartlet of Celtic players; they are Beram Kayal, Emilio Izaguirre, Sung-Yueng Ki and Anthony Stokes.
Personally, I am not too fond of the last two bu Kayal and Izaguirre could become top quality.
He also said that Gavin Hanley of Blackburn could be a target according to a cabbie.

Ed, are those Henderson rumours coming around because we've failed to sign McCarthy? Or is there truth in them? {Ed002's Note - All I know is what Ed001 mentioned that there had been contact at one level or another between the clubs.}

02 Jun 2011 08:46:37
The Rumers related to Mata and Aguero only can be posible for Pepe Reina. he is a very good buddy with all spanish mate. like Vila, Iniesta, Xavi so Pepe can ask them to join him I Think they will personly intarest more. any sugetion Ed

{Ed002's Note - Aguero is Argentinean not Spanish I am afraid. I cannot see how he would be a "good buddy", sorry}

Morning All,

Just wanted a quick thought on Dimitri Payet - The boy has magic in his feet - I know the situation with Comolli and St Ettienne and also the fact that PSG are very much in the frame for the player - But does anybody know if our interest is Genuine and that we are likely to make an official approach??

Cheers {Ed002's Note - There has already been an approach and discussions have taken place over Payet. Christophe Galtier gave an interview and said that a sale of Matuidi and Payet to England or Italy would suit St-Etienne and may be possible. The player is known to favour a move to Paris St-Germain who were certainly interested in the past. There has obviously been the takeover by the Qatari's and we will have to see if that has impacted on the previous interest.}

I would swap Mereiles for Honda any time. financial revenue + fan base, freekick specialist, not shy to tackle, good stamina(can play 90min without any problem)versatile (excellent in every position)

Mentioned on here about 5weeks ago that Liverpool will sign Downing in the summer & got slated by people. All of a sudden now were strongly linked to him. We are defo after him this summer & he wants to come.

Also got told Saturday about Henderson, were also defo after him & its thought he'll sign after the U21 tournament in the asummer.

Downing & Henderson will be Liverpool players this summer, but people need to have patience.

Hi eds. Is there any interest in Marko Marin or Mario Gotze? Either of them would be amazing signings. {Ed002's Note - AC Milan, Chelsea and Liverpool have shown an interest in Marin at on time or other. The player could be for sale but there seems to be no concerted effort to follow up on initial enquiries at this time. Don't hold your breath over Goetze. Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona have already been knocked back by his club and the player himself has made it abundantly clear that he wants to stay at Dortmund.}

Ed's - On LFC.TV is says that Aqualani is beining sent back to Liverpool as the new coach wants a stronger midfielder. Do you think we should keep him as he must be better than Adam

{Ed006's Note - I'll get a ribbing from ed001 for this but I really want Aquilani to stay.}
-----------------------------
Ed006, I love you for saying that haha, I really think Aquaman deserves another chance, he seemed to show the class he was bought for towards the back end of the season before the one just ended, give him another chance.
Although I wouldn't mind selling him if it means we can buy a "mega player" (your Aguero's if you will), which I can't see happening to be honest....
LfcWes605

{Ed002's Note - Aquilani does not want to play for Liverpool - he has made this abundantly clear over and over again. Why would you want someone like that in the dressing room. And selling the player will cover what is still owed on him and perhaps £5M-£6M more only.}

Hi all,
I heard a few weeks ago that Owen was sounding out a last hurrah at anfield I rubbished it completely, it turns out it very nearly happened, he would've moved only united offered him a year long deal on better pay, he could have restored a little of his reputation, its over for him now.

Another weird one I've heard is that man-ure are interested in Joe Cole? Anyone else hear that? I find that abit hard to believe, but id love it if he went for a tasty fee.

People who are saying Henderson is overrated, I completely disagree. He is a decent player, only 20.(Not world beater ofcourse). With right guidance he will become one. And if the reports are right, he told friends he prefers Anfield, rather than Man Utd, City, Chelsea. That tells a lot about his attitude. And the person who said he hadn't seen a game where his performance stood out, you're wrong. He was great against Man Utd, Chelsea, West Ham, Birmingham, Wigan, Newcastle. I think he can turn out to be the next Paul Scholes for England. Great prospect.

Ed002
Do you not think that Mata is KK no 1 target then? With the rest of the money spread across Adam, LB, CB. Aguero a back up with the need to also buy a LW? {Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest in Mata and other players - we know that all ready. You are then speaking as though there is a budget and whatever he has left over then he can go shopping for whatever he can afford. That is certainly not the case. I also don't think the Aguero is "back up" if he can't get Mata.}

Talks with Mata's agent have taken place and I have heard that they have agreed personal terms however im not sure if I believe it.

HeyLewisgower.

*******************************
Talks with Mata's agent took place back in March, talks were positive but the player is keeping his options open at the moment, not a good sign, but I'm sure come we'll have most of our business done before the squad head for the pre-season tour of Asia

Just heard from my source in melwood and Liverpool have agreed a fee (£39 million) with atletico Madrid for aquero. Personal terms will be completed in the next couple of weeks. He told me about luis suarez before December.

hi ed great job
please post, fowler will be back at anfield as a coach before next season, have it from a very good source, will be brilliant in helping carroll which is main reason king wants him back. Read on here for years but first post.

also agree with previous poster that we should be looking past south america and concentrating on africa especially ghana, been there myself and have seen some awesome youngsters... Real strenghth, passion, and skill, they are the future!

Hi eds please post!
My opinion on henderson is that he's well overated and in many prem games this season he's let the game pass him by and I struggle to really remember a time that he's stood out, as for mata I believe this guy is very special and is similiar to silva at city, so if man city do bid and (fingers crossed aren't) do you see them offloading? and who? Also I would like to ask do you believe the way DC will go about things in terms of negotiations with players will help or reduce our chances of getting the right players?

Keep up the good work, great site {Ed013's Note - Mata will leave this summer but to what club is unknown. I disagree Henderson has a lot of potential as he is only 20and he has stood out in certain games}

02 Jun 2011 00:45:22
ed wats the latest with henderson and mata and downing ?? {Ed013's Note - Henderson is a twitter rumour as both clubs have different valuations of the player. We have met with mata agents but no bid. Downing is interest from the club but approach as of yet}

02 Jun 2011 00:37:30

The fact that LFC have not showed much interest in right wingers tells me that we will prodominately play 4-3-3 next season using Carroll, Suarez and either Aguero or Mata. I honestly believe that getting either Mata or Aguero and a LW shows that we will play 4-3-3 unless we need width when we will send either Gerrard or Johnson wide right and Mata or another LW wide left. For this reason I believe their is a lot of truth in the above two players (Mata followed by Aguero). Playing three in midfield also makes sense to buy Adam otherwise there is no real need apart from the obvious (Corners/Carroll) but you would lose Gerrard or Lucas. It would also provide the most versatility to the team. Not a rumour I know but what do you think Eds, would Mata followed by Aguero + LW be biggest priority for good of the team? {Ed002's Note - No, I very much doubt it.}

Re: Aguero and Maradonna! I sincerely hope Maradonna is not Kun's uncle as Kun has a child with Maradonna's daughter - now that (we) could get Messi.

Forget Aguero and Mata( Valencia qual. CL anyway) both of them wanna play CL. Downing&Young could be hard to since both of them also want to play CL football. Elia might happen, Adam if MU offers less. Gervinho is probably going to Arsenal. Jarvis quite possible signging he's Liverpool fan. Enrique 99% in. Aquilani is coming back Juve wants him but cheap. N'Zogbiamost is probable signing. Spearing, Shevley, Kelly, Flaneghan will get more chances to play. KK played excellent football with players that he had available. Chances to get Downing&Young only if LFC offers Cole, Jovanovic or Maxi plus cash as part of a deal.

01 Jun 2011 23:55:32
Ed, has Young definitely got an offer from United on the table then?

Stu. {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what is on the table for Young but MU seem to be heading the field.}

Hi
I personally would like to see 2 wingers/attackers, 1 midfielder, 1 left back and 1 centre back.
I'd like to see Mata, marveux, defour, clichy and kjaer.
I think its time to move Stevie G back into a holding midfield role and let Meireles and Defour run the midfield and support a front 3 of Carroll, Suarez and Mata.
wot do you guys think?
NiRed
