Ed have you heard any more about Gervinho? He's a top player and would offer pace which is dearly lack. If Roy does not get sacked tomorrow then I'd think he'd be here till the end of the season, unless we're in the relegation zone and are seriously doing bad. {ed's note - we have been in talks with his club, that is all I know, but the other editor who will know will hopefully be about later with more info or Sharkey might be able to help. Both have contacts in the French game.}

Hi ed, forget what I said about wikipedia announcing that lfc had signed sylvan marveaux. Just been back on there and strangely after announcing what I found they have now rewritten it to a rumour.

()()

30 Dec 2010 23:05:51
Could a departure of macia be a sign of woy's sacking?

()()

30 Dec 2010 22:59:08
Liverpool's have approached Marco Van Basten as Roy's replacement. He is thought to be extremley interested in the managers position, and will appoint Dennis Bergkamp as his assistant. If not in jan, then it will definatley be in the summer.

the scout.

()()

30 Dec 2010 22:56:52
Ed got a ques for you. We have to sign marveaux in January because we in talks with him before January 1st. If we want him on a bosmon we cannot make contact before then. If we do then we are poaching the player. So surely we will be buying in the winter if the deal goes through. {ed's note - we have done a deal with the club, so it has to be a January move.}

()()

30 Dec 2010 22:53:39
Question: Andre Villas-Boas has just signed a new one-year contract at Porto. Does this mean for certain that we can no longer pursue him as a replacement for Hodgson, even if he was fired (fingers crossed) tomorrow? If this is the case, then it's really infuriating because for me, Boas was the outstanding managerial candidate - young, ambitious, advocates attacking football and most importantly is a born winner. The lack of decisiveness displayed by NESV is now pretty worrying.

()()

30 Dec 2010 22:52:02
Hi ed, just read on wikipedia that sylvan marveaux has signed a four year deal for 1.5 million. Is this true or have they got it wrong. {ed's note - I think this is one case of them being right, unless he was put off by the performance last night. He was all set to sign before the game, at least now he knows he could walk into the side even while on crutches!}

()()

30 Dec 2010 22:51:52
Ed, have you put forward your C.V. yet to the board. . you better get a move on! {ed's note - I don't have the qualifications needed to work in the Prem mate, I do think I could do a better job than Roy has done though!}

()()

30 Dec 2010 22:46:20
Ed if ther is a directors meeting today, do you think its regarding hodgsons future? {ed's note - I can't be sure, but I would be shocked if the team's poor performances and his terrible post-match comments weren't discussed. He has just managed to alienate the entire customer base of the club, to any business that is not a good thing to do.}

()()

30 Dec 2010 22:45:55
Ed, now that eduardo macia has left, do u think that could be the start of the exits? {ed's note - I think the scouting team were always likely to be on their way, they have not performed well in recent years. I am not sure what will happen with Roy and his coaching staff though, nothing reliable is saying he is going just yet though.}

()()

30 Dec 2010 22:42:42
PLEASE do not say hes been sacked if you are just making it up! PLEASE its just not fair to do that to us faithful liverpool fans! Very upset couldnt sleep last night and now the wife is saying i've been depressed since the summer just great thanks a lot roy. At least with Rafa he truely loved the club with all his heart he was there all the time he respected hid job and himself and i loved him not saying he is the answer but what a guy. Really down ed still going to the match though on saturday not really sure what to expect but as always come on the reds.!

You say this is from a first team squad member and its his sister your married to. He would have to be English, as his family is based in England. So straight away we are down to 5 players: Carra, SG, Kelly, GJ, Cole

So all we need now is Poirot to come and solve the mystery for us?

Benitez to get job back

Why? Have people woken up in an alternate reality where Benitez hasn't f***ed up both Liverpool AND Inter Milan. On the plus side I had backed good old Rafa to be fired from Milan before Christmas so I'm happy.

However, what does upset me is the fact that I saw some supporters at last night's debacle holding up a a bring back Rafa poster. This shows a memory span equivalent to a goldfish. The spanish politician brought endless dross to the club for exorbitant fees and then tried to blame everyone else for all the problems. Sounds a bit like Woy at the minute and none of us want him in the job. So all in all how would we be better by swapping like for like?

I spoke to an ex-player in my hotel bar last night and he believes that Kenny will be approached to act as an interim boss solely until the end of the season, with Ian Rush as his second in command.

In the summer Didier Deschamps will take over alongside his choice of no.2, Ray Wilkins. These two were not first choice, but now that Andre Villas Boas has signed a new contract extension at Porto, he is out of the running. One thing is for sure, Woy will sign on alongside Wafa in the very near future. Damien Comolli and Kenny will finalise the transfer targets in this window with the emphasis being on young, affordable talent which will preferrably be home-grown but if not, then the French connection will definitely be used. M'Vila, Sakho, Marveau, Griezman, Hoarou have been scouted along with Fleck, Wickham, Dann, Clyne and Jones.

" Benitez to get job back " - why would Moratti back down now, he's just appointed Leonardo.

Because he certainly won't be getting his job back at L4.

Damien Comolli offered Lille £30m for Eden Hazard, Adil Rami and Gervinho. This was rejected out of hand. Liverpool were quoted £25m for Hazard, £15m for Rami and £12m for Gervinho. Comolli will pursue a deal for Gervinho, and has followed up his interest in Sylvain Marveaux who was to be signed on a bosman, but this has been brought forward to January. Comolli has been scouting the likes of Eljero Elia, Yann M'Vila, Ola Toivanen, Jonathon Reis, Balazs Dzsudzsak, Luis Suarez, Jan Vertoghen, Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Gary Cahill, Johan Elmander, Lee Chung-Gook, Keisuke Honda, Danny, Kerzakhov (Zenit), Amauri, Fernando Llorente, Javi Martinez and Davide Santon

ED How much would it cost to sack RH now? He won't resign. How much would he get at the end of the season in a pay out if that's how long nesv are giving him?

And why can't we write in a clause to managers contracts that if you are s* * you will be sacked with a small payout as we keep getting ourselves in trouble over pay outs for S* * managers. . {ed's note - I have no idea how much Roy stands to gain.}

I added it up Liverpool have been linked to around £161.6M worth of deals if you add everything on the internet this includes moves for Young , Gervinho, Dzeko (Goin to city i know), an sales of Jovanavic an poulsen and agger, think we have to realise well be fighting fulham for signings not top teams, whilst were under Roy who would want to come? He plays crap footy an i don't believe he actually understands he managing Liverpool FC what happend to our team i just can't believe it

Wondering who fingered Commolli for the job ed?? ?
{ed's note - I don't know but personally I wouldn't like Comolli to have that much influence, I am very dubious about him.}

Hi ed, I've read either yourself or a few of the editors saying something similar to this a couple of times now. Can I ask, seeing as I don't know anything about him really, what is it about Comolli which troubles you? Is it to do with his personality, his role at our club, his history, or something else?

Thanks

SpanishChris {ed's note - I have just been hearing a few things regarding him that have left me unsettled, he is not held in high regard by anyone whose opinion I respect.}
===================================
I wonder whether Comolli is one of those self publicists who flashes his qualifications, overstates his triumphs and with the help of fellow Frenchmen Houllier, Wenger and Platini moves in high footballing circles, sitting on UEFA committees, pontificating about matters football with the great and the good. Is he really the man for the club that was made by Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Moran, Smith and Robinson? {ed's note - that is almost exactly what he was described as to me by someone who I trust.}Comolli, who was appointed as Liverpool's director of football strategy earlier this month, held the position of sporting director at White Hart Lane from 2005 to 2008 and, before that, he had worked as a European scout at Arsenal for seven years.

The Frenchman has angered prominent figures at both north London clubs by talking up the role that he played in the recruitment of certain players. His claim, for example, that it was he who conceived the signing of Dimitar Berbatov at Tottenham in 2006 has numbered among the many to go down badly at the club. His predecessor in the role, Frank Arnesen, had done the legwork on the Berbatov deal.

Sources at Tottenham say that the only discovery Comolli made was that of the left-back Benoît Assou-Ekotto, while they also mock him for electing to pursue the signing of the striker Darren Bent from Charlton Athletic in 2007 rather than follow up the club's initial interest in Fernando Torres, who would join Liverpool from Atlético Madrid that same summer. It ought to be noted that Torres was realistically only ever going to leave Spain for Anfield.

Comolli has been happy to accept the credit for some of Wenger's signings – in particular, Kolo Touré, Emmanuel Eboué and Gaël Clichy – but, again, this has not been well received at Arsenal. Wenger's relationship with Comolli is strained.

"I let you write what you want [about Comolli], " Wenger said. "He was a scout here and not a director of football. He worked under Steve Rowley [the chief scout]. That is it. Only one person decides who comes in here and that is me. Nobody else."

Comolli was sacked by Tottenham in October 2008, together with the coach Juande Ramos, to pave the way for Redknapp's arrival in a more traditional management structure. At the time of his departure, Tottenham were bottom of the Premier League, with two points from eight matches.

Comolli was criticised by the Spurs chairman Daniel Levy for overseeing the sales of Berbatov and another striker, Robbie Keane, in the summer of that year, and failing to replace them adequately, leaving the squad unbalanced. Comolli points out that on his watch, Tottenham signed success stories such as Berbatov, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Heurelho Gomes and Assou-Ekotto.

"I am happy when people around Europe come to me and say they're my players and that they're doing well, " Comolli said, in a recent interview. "I've had so much positive feedback since I've left Tottenham and I hope people now understand what the job was about. I give Harry full credit for adding a resilience which wasn't there before, but he had very good players to work with. He was fortunate to get into a club which is wealthy, organised and well run."

Redknapp told Levy that he would not come to Tottenham if he had to work under a sporting director and he made it clear what he thought of Comolli. "Yeah, I think he should take all the credit, for sure, " Redknapp said, sarcastically. "They were all doing well when I arrived, you know. They were all good; they were all great."

Liverpool's new owner, John W Henry of New England Sports Ventures, appointed Comolli, with the manager Roy Hodgson not involved in the recruitment process. Hodgson has insisted that he retains the final say on transfers.

"Damien has got a big network in France and abroad, " Redknapp said. "And if he can work with Roy and they discuss who they're going to bring in, which I'm sure they will, then it's not such a problem perhaps. They may get on great together."

In an interesting twist, Comolli has taken Tottenham's principal overseas scout, Steve Hitchen, to Liverpool. "He's nicked him off us, " Redknapp said. "Steve was excellent, an English boy who lives in France. We liked him a lot."

Interesting that someone noted Marveaux can also play as an 'attacking left back' (a wing-back if you will). Perhaps the idea is to go with Aurelio and him playing together on the left and working overlaps with each other?

@30 Dec 2010 18:43:26 Liverpool Rumours 30 Dec 2010 18:27:21 Liverpool Rumours "Roy s been given til the summer to turn things round."

Is nonsense. The plan is that Roy goes in the summer anyway to be replaced by a manager of NESV's sanction (they never appointed Roy remember). The question now is if he will actually last as long as the summer and bearing in mind there is a more than even chance we will be out of the FA Cup as well shortly then that's doubtful.

{ed's note - I don't know but personally I wouldn't like Comolli to have that much influence, I am very dubious about him.}

Hi ed, I've read either yourself or a few of the editors saying something similar to this a couple of times now. Can I ask, seeing as I don't know anything about him really, what is it about Comolli which troubles you? Is it to do with his personality, his role at our club, his history, or something else?

Thanks

SpanishChris {ed's note - I have just been hearing a few things regarding him that have left me unsettled, he is not held in high regard by anyone whose opinion I respect.}
===================================
I wonder whether Comolli is one of those self publicists who flashes his qualifications, overstates his triumphs and with the help of fellow Frenchmen Houllier, Wenger and Platini moves in high footballing circles, sitting on UEFA committees, pontificating about matters football with the great and the good. Is he really the man for the club that was made by Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Moran, Smith and Robinson? {ed's note - that is almost exactly what he was described as to me by someone who I trust.}

Reason Torres is disinterested is because he blames Gerrard and Carragher as being the main instigators in getting Rafa sacked. Gerrard has always banged on about English managers and how he likes them and Torress beleives that's why Hodgson is there. Hi ed, tell me what you think of this. . . Roy Evans as new liverpool manager and ray wilkins as his number 2? . . . also what are the possibilities of us signing players such as:
1. Marveaux
2. Honda
3. Young
4. Suarez {ed's note - I would love Roy Evans back, the football would be entertaining to watch once more, I have missed that so much! Marveaux was nailed on, but he watched the game last night so may have changed his mind! Honda is down to the transfer panel, he wants to join us but I am not sure how seriously they are trying to get him. Young would prefer a move further south, apparently, out of choice. Suarez is very possible - Ajax are desperate to sell.}

yeah i was very young when he was manager, but iv watched many tapes and dvds and the football they played was brilliant and i havent seen that in a liverpool team in the recent past, i would only love it if he came back and ray wilkins would be a great number 2 for him aswell. .i also just watched some videos of sylvain marveaux and he looks a brilliant player and 1.5 million looks like an unbelievable bargain, and i would love to see suarez there also as he is a brilliant goalscorer and would take a lot of pressure off torres. . .would you agree??

{Editor's Note: I doubt that Suarez will be coming.}

30 Dec 2010 17:26:09
Sylvain Marveaux is being signed primarily as an attacking left back not a winger. It is a position he plays well in (go and check if you don't believe me) and he will become first choice above Konchesky who may be shipped out on loan to a southern club and then sold in the summer due to personal issues (his mother's comments and his kid is ill).

{Editor's Note: Marveaux is not being signed as any sort of left back.}

Rafa + Paco + Commoli=? ?? ?? ?

Could this work for LFC. Rafas downside was allegedly his spending. I personally think he spent well overall but when we got cash strapped under H&G he had to go for expensive 2nd tier players and got burned a little. Commoli has a good eye for young up and coming players and I think they could work well together with NESV policyon transfers. Paco is a MUST though as the squad love him and we suffered when he left.

Believe if you agree.
unbelieve if youd prefer to see a new manager

Jim {ed's note - I think Boas has ruled himself out by signing a contract extension, it is more likely to be someone who has had a couple of years at his present job. Responding to:

NESV IF YOU WANT TO PROVE THAT YOU ARE DIFFERENT FROM OUR PAST OWNERS SACK ROY NOW!

The very fact that the club is no longer drowning in debt, added to the that the owners are not conducting public slanging matches via the media, indicates that NESV are of an entirely different genus to our previous owners. Give it a rest people, the decisions will be made in due course.

Mr Hughes

Hi mate,

No idea to be honest, they had a list in the summer and the one that they thought was best Roy.

The message i had a couple of weeks ago was that there is know one available.

I really think they need to do something quick, they also believed that Kenny was definately not the right man for the job.

The person that they wanted but could not get was Deschamps.

In my opinion they need to sort it out quick but the worry is who do we appoint. .

To Macca, , , , any ideas on who could replace hodgson.? thanks

Mr Hughes

In my opinion they need to sort it out quick but the worry is who do we appoint. .

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site but it is great! Well Done Eds!
I would like to make a point about the whole manager issue. I think Woy definitely needs to go before we found ourselves in a proper relegation battle. However, I can't think of a manager who will take the job on, Rijkaard will want money and lots of it. Managers like Coyle or Allardyce will furtther enhance our fall from grace. The only man who NESV should persuade to take the job on is Guus Hiddink, a manager who can get the best out of what he has. Plus he has a proven track record and is very well respected in the game and plays good football.

{Editor's Note: Hiddink is not available - he is preparing Turkey for their European Championship games. I also do not expect Hiddink to take on a full time club management role in the future.}

Hey ED, have you spoken to any of the players lately? Whilst they have to share some of the blame, surely even they are getting sick of playing the brain-dead football we're seeing under Roy?

DownUnderRed {ed's note - I am not getting anything from anyone right now, unfortunately the website's rise in popularity has also affected that. Because everything said gets so widely reported those who were willing to talk to me no longer want to in case it causes trouble. But they were extremely unhappy in the past and I think performances show that nothing has changed.}

Roy Hodgson and Sammy Lee will be sacked this week. Kenny Dalglish will be put in charge till the end of the season. 4 players of Damien Comolli's recommendation will be bought. Sylvain Marveaux is a done deal. Keisuke Honda is a strong possibility (widely reported) Rest assured Carlton Cole is "not" a target. A striker of proven quality will be bought and a versatile defender.

Editor do you think that lucas had a good game? because he didn't he tackled barely anyone and whenever he passes 7/ 10 times the opposition get it. but everyone on this site seems to think hes improved but i don't see it at all he is not good enough for liverpool. if we want a defensive midfielder it should be banega or lassana diarra they are both class and less than 15million i would love to see one of them arrive. also i noticed that joe cole is actually one of our most comitted players, he put in so much effort to the game and should play over meireles who did pretty bad yesterday. you can tell that torres still loves liverpool he was frustrated that we a bad and he desperately needs a partner he is brilliant player and was trying hard. we desperately need width and sylvain marveux will provide it probably on the right because a left winger is targeted gervinho and a.young. a striker should definitly be our main target but i just don't know who we can possibly sign. honda should be signed he is amazing. what do you think editor? about my post?

me14

{Editor's Note: Don't expect Lucas to leave in Jaunary, nor another left winger to arrive. If Gervinho comes it will be to cover the roll of striker, but he can play pretty much any attacking role.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
When i've seen Gervinho Ed he plays the role like Henry did for Arsenal. Picking the ball out on the left and cutting inside. I'm not saying he's like Henry but from what i've seen he's pretty decent.

Blair Mayne YNWA

{Editor's Note: Henry was a left winger when he arrived at Arsenal. Gervinho offers options in a number of attacking positions - I cannot see him being bought and then playing on the left. Additionally, if Roy leaves what happens to the interest in players that we see right now?}

Irresistible with Stade Rennais since the beginning of the season, Sylvain Marveaux confirms the potential glimpsed in the youth teams. The attacking midfielder Brittany, coveted, certainly has not finished talking to him in Ligue 1, and why not for France?

"This is our Messi us! Right now it is over the moon. It's great to have a player like that here. " The compliment dropped by Fabien Lemoine teammate Sylvain Marveaux in Rennes, has something to smile about. If the native of Vannes is still far from the famous Argentine FC Barcelona, it is nevertheless the revelation of the Ligue 1. In 21 appearances for Rennes jersey, the little 23 year old prodigy has already been slammed 7 goals and 3 assists in the league. But to get there, the player went through all the trials.

A meteoric rise
Arrived at the training center at Rennes in 2001, Marveaux is offered in June 2006 his first professional contract. Launched by Peter Dréossi in the opening match of the 2006-2007 season against Lille (1-2), the midfielder is training inducted . . left side. Facing the twirling Kader Keita (deciding at the time!), The native of Vannes has a hard time containing the Ivory Coast, which also marks the second goal in Lille. But Sylvain Marveaux has unusual mental qualities. Monterrubio replacing the attacking midfielder, he will report to head scoring 5 goals in the remainder of the season. The Martinique password then anonymous joker luxury in the Breton club.

Hampered by injuries
Unfortunately, the following season, he did not confirm the hopes placed in him and the bench squats Stade Rennais. In 2008-2009, Marveaux seems finally start on good bases. Yet it is stopped in its tracks by a serious hamstring tear incurred in the France team Hopefuls. Sentenced to 10 months remain out of play, he takes his troubles patiently and sees his teammates fail in the final of the Coupe de France against Guingamp (1-2). Relaunched in late season by Guy Lacombe, Breton brings a lot of its Vista and delivers 2 assists in 3 games.

And now the A?
This season he has found in the system Antonetti a special place and it seems indisputable that the midfielder took a different scale. Regularly selected in the teams of France since the age of 16 years, Sylvain Marveaux not ignite . . even when he speaks of A: "If it had to happen one day, I will be happier, but it is not news. I do not pretend to claim a place in the 23. If my turn would come, I think it will be after the World Cup. I must first concentrate on my season with Stade Rennais. Talented, tough and sure of his strength, the Briton keeps feet on ground despite recent calls from the foot of the OL and Fiorentina. Often compared to Florent Malouda for its style and its origins, Sylvain Marveaux sign right away for a similar career. Whether or Blue in Blues!

"The Madness of King Roy VIII"

The media is full of it today and as part of that (a different part) I smile in the embarrassment of riches we have this morning.
For a start:
"Roy Hodgson to leave this week!"
"Hodgson to be sacked and replaced with Rijkaard"
"Liverpool decide to sack Hodgson"
"Enough wandering says Liverpool bosses."

Well as if I didn't know better - I would say without a shadow of a doubt that NOT ONE of these headlines have any immediate substance.
NOT one of them has been written by Tom Werner nor Joh Henry.
NO interview with any of those headlines has taken place in the past 36 hours.
These are the simple 'wind up the fans with strong guesses/ headlines' and sell a few more copies . . .
If you believe any of this nonsense, then you probably believe that Kerry Catatonic is talented; Nicolas Anelka is mature; David Beckham is intelligent and Lucas Leiva is the world's worst midfielder.

ONLY the owners, the men who have paid for that privilege, know what Roy Hodgson's current position is.
Yes, we can all guess and speculate, but why do we give such credence to these headlines?
I rant (sorry to say) on here about posters who claim to know more than the people who run the club. I suggest they are "mates of mates of mates of mates who know someone who drove past Melwood three years ago in the dark" and that's as much credence as I give them.

I have been involved on the fringes of the professional game in media and PR terms for more than 22 years. I have yet to know more about what was happening (and ages before!) than the men writing the cheques and hiring and firing.
I did and do have my ideas and guesses, but the reality is that football is not as open as we think.

Training grounds are full of people who wander in and are 'mates of this and that player.' There are also delivery men and cab drivers, agents and associates that suggest they know EXACTLY what is happening at this and that club.
They don't!
Like me . . and you and you and you and you . . . they can guess, put 3 and 5 together and make 7, but reality intrudes all too often.

I think Hodgson will be sacked (great guess Steve!)
I think Rijkaard will be the new manager (good guess, exciting and when he isn't, most people will have forgotten who said he would be) of LFC.
Lucas Leiva is to join Villareal (maybe but pick any other Euro team and it might work) in January.
I think Dalglish will stay with the club.
I think Torres wants away.

ANYONE can suggest the above.
Just because the media has the platform to widely publicise this, don't take it as gospel.

Bottom line is that we are in the main unhappy with the manager.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to suggest he will be sacked and replaced by . . . . . . . (please fill in the name of your choice) but it does take a bit of intelligence to realise this is what really is ' paper talk.'

Liverpool are set to be sack Roy Hodgson and replace him with Dutchman Frank Rijkaard after the current Anfield boss was left bemoaning yet another limp display as his side lost to a struggling Wolves side at home. The club's are ready to axe the 63 year old former Fulham boss and will do so within the next 48 hours.

Hodgson's cause will not have been helped by his slamming of Liverpool supporters after last night's game and owners New England Sporting Ventures will act fast to prevent the club from slipping further into the mire. The Merseyside club are now just three points from the relegation zone having lost an unprecedented eight matches out of their opening 18 fixtures.

Bookmakers William Hill have cut their odds on Frank Rijkaard becoming the next permanent boss to just 8/ 15 and Liverpool owner John W Henry will know that handing January transfer funds to embattled boss Hodgson makes little sense if he is then removed from his post shortly after so therefore the club will look to swing the axe in the very near future.

With the games coming thick and fast during the busy holiday period, with games against Bolton and Blackburn on the 1st and 5th of January respectively, the board at Liverpool will decide whether to wait until after those fixtures are completed or look to act in the next 48 hours. Their main fear being that having no one at the helm for the crucial upcoming games could be even more damaging than sticking with Hodgson.

Therefore it appears that the club is in deep deliberation as to whether tp wait until those two games have been played and then act to replace the former Fulham manager with former Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard who is on the look out for a new post having been sacked by Galatasaray earlier in the season, or instead axe Roy Hodgson within the next 48 hours, which currently appears to be the more likely scenario.

There's a rumour regarding Liverpool not being able to secure Jan targets due to the current form/ manager status? This true ed?

BTW that was by far the worst liverpool performance I ever seen. As a team, we have no system of play. As fans, we've become over critical. What we're saying is correct, but there's a way we should say things. Becoming volatile to our own player during the match is stripping our credit as the worlds best supporters. At the mo, we're simply not. We need to get our own house in order before we criticise every one else. I suggest organising correct demonstrations - such as after match sit ins etc. But, bringing a sense of humour and PRIDE.

We've been embarrassed enough lately by money sniffing freaks (from the board down to players), so lets not embarrass our selves any further. So during those 90mins, lets get our game faces on. As that's all we can do.

EportRed {ed's note - very true unfortunately, but can you blame a player being put off right now? We are playing poorly and the manager is unwanted, why would you join when a new guy could come in and not want you?}

Ed what's your thoughts on some fans calling for rafa or Kenny to return as manager . I think both would be seriously bad appointments even on a temp basis . If dalglish does a half decent job nesv would feel the wrath of fans ( living in the past ) if they replaced him . Andre villas-boas is my pick for the job . He recently signed s extension to his contract so a compo deal would be large . But if nesv are true to their word they must get the best to be the best so they have to put their money where their mouth is . I find it very frustrating to hear people call for rafa back , this time last year we were calling for him to be sacked . We are a blooding laughing stock .
ngs77 {ed's note - I think NESV need to look somewhere else for a caretaker than Kenny, like you said the fans would never let them remove him unless we got relegated. That is why I would suggest Roy Evans, and then make him no 2 to whoever takes over on a permanent basis.}

Today's Press Conference has been postponed until tomorrow. Liverpool are insisting that this is nothing 'sinister', and feel that it would be better to do the post-match Wolves and pre-match Bolton conference tomorrow.

However, I have heard a few whispers around Anfield and Melwood that the main reason behind this is that there will be a video conference held at some point today between Hodgson, Werner and Henry. The details of this conference are unknown.

If we weren't sure before, we can feel safe in saying that Hodgson is a dead man walking, bye bye Roy.
I also believe that Dalglish isn't being considered as a caretaker manager otherwise surely that would have happened by now? So is it possible that Rafa is being lined up to do the job till the end of the season.

I was glad Rafa left when, but he is a much better option than carrying on with Roy.

{Editor's Note: Marveaux can also play on the right. He offers more than a number of the midfield and I would expect to see him starting games. I would be surprised if another left winger was bought in now.}

With this Ed here on this. Marveaux was interesting manure and chelski in april/ may this year. West Hams also showed interested in July/ Aug and although relatively unknown here his name is good in France. see below.

Height:1.72 m / 5.64 ft Age 24
Positions Left and right midfielder and attacking from both area's, "preferred" position is attacking left midfielder

But it is not only the statistics; Marveaux is impressing on the field with some very nice moves that one usually only sees from the very best players. His main quality is his speed and acceleration, due to his physical qualities and his small size.

He is able to eliminate defenders by his quality of speed and also with technical ability above most average players. Another quality of Marveaux, is his precise passing leading to assists, he is a complete player, able to score but able to play a team mate in on goal.

Physically, and also in his style of play and in his position on the field, it is amazing how he looks and plays like Florent Malouda (also left footed). He has consistently been involved in youth levels of the French national team and is a big hope for Les Bleus

Finally looks like some-one who can take on defenders and get past the opposition back line. . . .if you note the above comments.
His contract runs out end of 2010/ 2011 season i think. Ed can confirm this or Sharkey {ed's note - that is why we are picking him up for so little.}

Hey Ed so what do you reckon by the end of the window will the in transfers be looking something like this:

Marveaux
Honda
Gervinho
Huth

Thanks BLP

{Editor's Note: I would hope the interest in Honda progresses. As an option for striker, Gervinho is someone the club wish to talk to - he will be OK but there may be other options. I would probably be disappointed if Huth arrived. I am not sure he can offer us anything more than we already have.}

Just want to say love the site Ed, can't stop reading it.
We are close to signing Sylvain Marveaux for 1.5m as he is able to leave on a free in the summer, he looks good and would be a great addition for that price, he is the next Florent Malouda according to journalists in France. Also we are close to signing Ashley Young in a 14m a welcome addition to the squad. Ed do you think they would be good signings?

D Short

P.S NESV SACK ROY PLEASE! {ed's note - I don't know what Marveaux is like, not seen him play, I don't rate Young at all, but right now we need width and pace and he offers that.}

Just wanted to let the greatest fans in the world into a little known secret about news down south. I know Paul Konchesky and his family through my step sons and I just wanted you to know what he has had to deal with recently. One of his kids was taken seriously ill last year and was hospitalised, the condition needs to be monitored and is a constant worry to him and his wife. He has also had to play in a lot more games whilst not being fully fit as he has had to cover for Aurelio whilst he has been injured longer term. He is still trying to find his game and he knows his mums comments have not helped to endear him to you guys but please bear with him as the boos are really not helping anyone.
Onto the rumour circulating round here, Carlton Cole will not be coming, initial enquiries were made about Scotty Parker but he is reluctant to move his family back up north and may consider a move to the Spurs but only at the end of the season. Connor Wickham is another on the radar but again his family are concerned about having to relocate so far north, I understand that plans have been put in place to find the family a home as his parents would have to move too. He is a nice lad but not the sharpest tool in the box and would need a lot of family support around him.

Blaise Matuidi

Robert Huth
Sulley Muntari
Michael Johnson
Ryad Boudebouz(prob not in Jan)
We all know about Ricky van Wolfswinkel Sylvain Marveaux and Honda.
Cant see us spending big bucks on another striker while Torres is around.
offload some of our sub standard players and these new signings would improve the squad.

I think before the board give Woy any money they should have a good look at the sort of player he wants. As Carlton Cole is no where near to liverpool standards.

After last nights laurel and hardy show by our so called centre backs i think we should look at bringing someone like lescott in to add some stability to our weak back line.

As for rumours, there some circulating here in germany that liverpool might be making a bid for Mertesacker.

really? how many more chances will the man get. he should have got the boot after the northampton match. what would be the point in him staying for another 2 games? even if he wins those, he still has 18 games left, in epl alone. 18 games i do not wish to see roy in charge of the team for, along with countless others. so please roy, we're not angry with you, just disappointed and humiliated, so just go. we would rather have no manager than have you.

Obviously you know abit about him. Do you think he is the type of player who is title winning material? I mean, how would he compare to the wide players at Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Spurs and Man City?

I fear that he would fail to flourish under a negative manager like Roy Hodgson who would fail to give him any freedom.

{Editor's Note: I am sure he has no magic wand and he is not going to win the league on his own. He is a good team player who can be creative and will offer up some good options. I would hope to say that the fans won't be diappointed.}

"{Editor's Note: There is no baggage with Marveaux, he is a good guy. Chelsea were after him last year and a number of German clubs showed an interest.}

Good to hear although I don't see why Chelsea would have showed an interest considering Maloudas form at the time and Kakuta as good back up."

It was not Malouda that was at risk. Chelsea were looking to the wide right position at the time they were talking to Sylvain Marveaux. Marveaux also had an option from Germany and he decided it would not be the right time to move - although he also declined to sign up for a new contract. I think this is at the very least a good deal for Liverpool - he is a smart guy and pretty unassuming. I have been trying to find out when he is actually joining as the Ed said there was a small fee, so my assumption is January. He has been out injured for a few weeks but I understand that he is just about ready to return.

Hes actually a decent left winger altho he can play any where in the midfield, , he is great at putting the ball in the box, , and in the right places, , he can also score, , and as for other teams after him man united and chelsea wanted him but he wasnt available then they got players who were available for that position so they don't need him yet not unless they were to lose the players for the position he plays
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I'll give him a chance, but I really don't think we'll see much more than we seen from players like Riera, Gonzalez and Zenden.

As for Chelsea and United being interested, I hear they wanted him in the Summer, but there must be a reason why they decided not to move for him. Given that he has a year left on his contract, and would probably jump at the chance to sign for one of those two.

Like I said, I'll give him a chance.

{Editor's Note: It was the player's choice not to move in the summer.}

Marveaux isn't the type of guy who is going to turn things around by himself. He's not a star. However he is a very good signing for a few reasons.

1-He is the type of player we need. We haven't had a good player on left wing in forever. He fits exactly what we need.

2-He is very inexpensive. This is the type of player who would likely cost around 10 mil if he wasn't going to be out of contract soon. When you sign a player like this for a low price it allows you to possibly overspend at other spots to get a certain player.

3-He is versatile. He will primarily play left wing for us but he can play centrally. So down the road when Liverpool do make more high profile signings Marveaux is the exact type of player who if we were to sign another leftwinger to start Marveaux can be a very effective sub because he is versatile.

{Editor's Note: Marveaux can also play on the right. He offers more than a number of the midfield and I would expect to see him starting games. I would be surprised if another legt winger was bought in now.}

The thing that worries me about Sylvain Marveaux is this - here we have a player who is available for a very small fee or possibly a free transfer if you wait for 6months, yet we seem to be the only club in for him. Why aren't other top clubs fighting it out to sign this lad like? Another thing is, in a new era of French football where players are getting games in the National Team, Marveaux hasn't had a game yet, and we've seen players like N'Zogbia and Menez (who has been poor) get games for France.

Plus, I thought Marveaux was a central midfielder? Hope we're not gona do a Meireles and play a midfielder on the wing.

Not excited about this signing in the slightest. {ed's note - I was told he was a winger. According to all the scouting sites I have just been checking, he is a left winger, but not having seen him play I can't judge any more than that.}

I wouldn't be too worried about not gettin Marveaux after him watching an AWFUL game, he'll probably be told him and a few others in Jan will change this dross and he'll make his name here and so on and in all fairness, we are the mighty liverpool, and we got Comolli :).

Oh and Ed, is this the signing you knew about earlier in the week? {ed's note - it wasn't me who knew about it, but I guess it must have been the one my fellow editor was referring to as he has been banging on about us getting Marveaux pretty much since Comolli took the job. He will no doubt have a good gloat to me about being right because I had never even heard of the lad before he mentioned him!}

Ha! If we get Honda he'll be over the moon :P. I never heard of Marveaux either before the sight but I agree with one of the comments below, why aren't the other top teams in Europe after this guy, there's either baggage or he's not good enough, but then again, I don't think anyone wanted to gamble on VDV except the Spuds, and look at how good he's been!
Horrible game to watch, there's just no excitement anymore before games, which in fairness Rafa brought. I long for the days of Luis Garcia's screamers again.

Heard a rumour roy will step down and sammy lee will take control untill they find a replacement roy knows liverpool fans are not happy there will be a press conference later on today 100% true

Please not! We have gone down hill since he came from Bolton. Come to think of it we are Bolton. The rumour I have heard is that NESV are offering refunds to all of us unfortunate enough to be at Anfield tonight to avert the risk of prosecution under the Trades Description Act - it was not football; it was sh* *

Ed or anyone - how is it possible that Pelligrini was interviewed/ looked into as potential new manager, and failed to impress sufficiently for them to choose him over Hodgson? He must've done a s* t on the desk or something.

Re:
Who agrees with me that apart from these player ever else must be replaced
torres
gerrard
carra
pepe
raul
agger
lucas(maybe)

I would get rid of Carra in the morning
great servant of Liverpool and thanks for that, but his time has gone and is most certainly UP
As long as we think Jamie deserves first choice as a centre back then we deserve Roy. And before the 2005 brigade pipe up , EXACTLY it was now almost 6 years ago, the great Liverpool teams before were happy for what players gave us YET we had the good sense to see when their time was up. Will we do the same in 4 years when Stevie is nearly 35? Carra does not Today deserve a first team place TOO MUCH Player power concentrate on your UEFA badges Jamie then come back and Manage the greatest Football team ever.

Porto manager anyone?? ive heard gervinho is almost a done deal just got to agree personal terms with the player but don't have a clue about honda anything ed? ?

{Editor's Note: Gervinho is apparently one possible option - Liverpool made an outline offer and requested the opportunity to talk to the player and his representatives. I do not know Lille's response.}

Rumour has it majority of fans would like a change in management!
. .I would love to hear what the players (REAL) opinions are of what is going on, and of ROY's tactics and coaching !
. .in my opinion we need a change, i would like to see more motivation and passion from our coaching staff and believe Kenny should be apart of that.
Although some players should hang their heads in shame, unfortunately most of the responsibility lies with management!

Bel - change manager asap as is not the right man
unbe - needs more time and player/ fan support

6 unbelievables? Do explain why. It was actually an utterly stupid idea. Regardless of whether you hate the club's manager and want him gone, support your team through thick and thin. I don't think having an incapable manager is a reason to go and create another football club.
