Why? It will just cost Rodgers next window when he lets him go and needs someone new in but isn't backed by the owners.

£40 million does nothing when you need to buy quality. Rodgers did a heroic job in lightening the load on the wage bill. He's been slapped in the face by FSG and Ayre who i think has become a yes man for the American's after his promotion.

By around 8.30 PM Ayre and BR had left Melwood and it was clear we were signing nobody.I expect a massive backlash against the management which will be richly deserved and I truly hope no person will post "In Brendon we trust"! If he was ordered to loan Carroll and make no signings then he has no spine.If it was his decision then he is a disgrace.

True rumour liverpool have lost out on all targets due to the americans playing hardball thinking they have all the cards when they have NONE. Sorry folks no more will be added. Duped by the yanks again.
I know you won't post it but i'm so frustrated just now.
Dempsey lost, no strikers coming in, 3 players out what league are we trying to win again?

First of all, even if we signed Dempsey (messed that one up tbf) and Ramirez (never happening just wishful thinking by ppl on this site) we still wouldnt of challenged for the league.

Secondly, we signed Allen, Borini and Sahin(loan) who are all good, young players that fit Rodgers style of play.

Thirdly, we sold aging players such as Kuyt and Rodriquez which also freed up the wage bill, as well as selling Adam, Carroll(loan) and various other players who frankly were not good enough for the club.

Whilst not the best transfer market for LFC, it was still a positive one. Stop moaning, stop complaining, stop blaming the owners becuase its not doing anything good for the club. After all the money wasted by King Kenny id be reluctant to fork any money over as well. If you dont like it why dont you donate some of your hard earned money to fund transfers?

Such a shame. cant understand that this night actually happened. talk about killing a club in a short period of time. why did we not learn from the last yanks!? good luck trying to win PL with this, i feel bad for poor old Rodgers though. talk about being lied too.

Eds i'm not going to complain just yet but could you give a bit of a round up of whats gone on today. I like all the other fans am feeling a little distressed with the fact that FSG seem to have really stuffed us today {Ed022's Note - Well I'll put it like this. In the morning we entered negotiations with Damiao and that deal looked possible, we also entered negotiations with Sturridge and we were told if he wasn't on the bench he would sign for Liverpool. However, this was not to be. Dempsey was 99% nailed on, until Liverpool's owners decided they didn't want to pay a penny more than their bid, therefore we lost him. He was desperate to come to us, but because of their stubborn attitude it was not to be. Now we are completely undermanned, and Rodgers was lied to. Simple as that.}

BR must be boiling inside tonight after being lied too!

Eds, know this might sound ridiculous but if we entered negotiations for Damiao, Sturridge and Dempsey but the owners have stuffed it all up and in fact lied to Rodgers then Rodgers might actually look at his position with the club?

Did FSG stuff us, or did Dalglish stuff us with blundered purchases last season? I'd lean towards the latter. Now it's up to the team to perhaps overachieve a little until the January window where, hopefully, the accounts look more balanced and FSG is willing to put out for some more players.

In full agreement I don't think the owners have any more money going forwards and feel the club will be sold eventually. There is no way on earth we will get anywhere near fourth unless a miracle happens. Next transfer window and the summer window are going to be difficult again FSG OUT

Well said Ed022, I couldn't have put it better myself. It has been pretty shambolic from FSG and I can now see us struggling this season. We have a skeleton squad to compete in the domestic league and cups a well as the Europa League - God know's how many games we could play in that!

Well nicely summed up - we sell off a bootful and loan out the rest and now we'll be lucky to finish in the top 8 this season.

It was also reported that the owners have told BR that buys would have to be funded by the sales. Knowing all of this, why did BR not focus on getting a target, which would have been more in line with the owners' policy i.e. young and high potential?

Do you mean that he was promised that FSG would permit the bid for Dempsey to be raised? {Ed022's Note - Fsg told Rodgers if he moved on Adam, Spearing and Carroll they would match Fulham's valuation of Dempsey. Very interesting story which in addition to the cost to the playing squad in terms of movement that was made to make room for Dempsey. There could also be a financial cost when the FA investigate the circumstances behind LFC unsettling the player. Very poor handling of transfer business. Embarrassing really. While I don't rate Dempsey, we really have shown a lack of class in this window.

Ed022, that doesn't explain the whole incompetence does it? Dempsey is one player and we were expecting a minimum two players today if three went out. They owe us an explanation because as much as they think they own the club their incompetence makes the whole Suarez affair look miniscule as their actual management competence has to be questioned. Just drove back from work and as always i have to go past John Lennon airport, and i think i saw david villa ? he was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans. the reason i think it was him is cos i saw a bloke with black messey kinda spiked hair with a triangle chin goatee and not many people you see look like that, now i know this could be anyone but i have a strong feeling that's who it is cos i recongised him and thats the first name that popped to my head.. sorry if im wrong everyone..

I've just heard that the striker that Liverpool are in talks with City for Edin Dzeko on season loan with £12m option fee.

This is to because Mancini had to lose some of the wage bill to account for new players coming in and keep Marwood and City board happy.

I don't think it will be a lack of trying. Rodgers has been pretty honest about needing players to leave and free up resources (money) to get new faces in.

It's the last day, so a player going to one club can often kick off a string of movement afterwards. Be patient fellow, hopefully we have two or three people come in and help strengthen the ranks.

I don't believe Rodgers would have let Adam go, who he rates as a 'tremendous player' unless he thought he had some one better coming in. The same goes for Andy Carroll's move to West Ham, Rodgers only did that to get someone more suited to Rodger's style of football in the door.

Any players without EU passports essentially have to agreed before today, fees and personal terms etc because by 6pm the courts will be shut and no work permits will be granted there after, fact. So for this to even be a little bit true it would have to bve confirmed before 6pm not 11pm when the window shuts

As eds says. Medical can be done in brazil or another country. A contract can be signed with an exception rule. Example... Medical test has to be passes if a contract is legal.

Does the medical issue count for players coming in on loan as is being reported by other sources. are we likely to get Damiao for one season until he gets used to the league and then lose him to a top four club (moneywise) next season. How much are our owners willing to pay for players of this caliber after the debacle we have had with transfers over the last 18 months. Watching all these so called top class players walk out the door for next to nothing compared to what we paid for them is infuriating for me and the money never came out of my pocket.

Liverpool fail in swap deal involving Henderson for Dempsey. Fulham didnt want Henderson. Do we have no money to spend? {Ed052's Note - ye}

With adam and spearing going we won't let henderson go unless rodgers has someone else coming in. He ideally would want 6 players for the 3 centre mids. Lucas is injured and without adam and spearing that leaves us with 5 which is manageable, especially if we get dempsey as he would provide cover for the role gerrard is currently playing, but leaving us with 4 mids (if henderson goes) is a risk with all the games we have to play.

Not quite. they did want henderson, but it was only a loan + cash offered. Henderson refused to be part of the deal and it collapsed. if we want dempsey now its cash only, however with villa pulling out, we should offer a low cash take it or leave it deal for a player who's 29 with 1 year left.

Fulham wanted the deal it was Henderson who rejected it

I think that would be a good option with a permanent move possible at the end of the loan period. Suits BR's style of play and will give us that much needed pace up front.

Needs to learn to lift his head now and then and remember he does in fact have team mates he can pass to if he feels like it.

And he sulks like a petulant child, has been brought up with the spoilt brat Chelski mentality, is vastly over rated & needs to work on his entire game much more.

Hello fellow reds, never posted before but frequent visitor, great work by everyone ( eds and fans). I don't have contacts or not ITK BUT I know someone who does.......Does that make him a contact of mine? Lol

anyway from what he has said Fernado Llorente is going to be a surprise signing, 2 other clubs trying to hijack the deal but it would be difficult he is due for a medical tomorrow (obviously its transfer deadline day, it would be no good him coming next wek)

Sorry I haven't posted any other bits he has mentioned as I have seen people do get grief for it, but I wanted to give something back, some positive news and couldn't keep this to myself :)

The reason media have not been onto certain signings eg Assaidi, Llorente is FSG have a dark squad in operation doing business, I think this is great for the club. The guy I speak to told me about Assaidi but I didn't even bat An eye lid never heard of him, didn't do any research when he mentioned it wish i did and posted it here i would have got brownie points lol But I have faith in him never let me down yet, telling me some great things

Going to be a great transfer deadline day tomorrow hope everyone has booked it off work, if not throw a sicky! Trust me your not going to want to miss this one :)

Dempsey has been in the rumors for an eternity but I'd be still as excited if/when he signs. No point in saying that - Id like to believe any of the attackers we've been linked with are much better than what we have at the moment. Bad news. We couldnt get Brendans first choice option (Walcott) and will sign Sturridge for £12m. Dempsey will complete this window for first team squad. Two more young players are close to signing. Almost happy days.

Hope not... Sturridge is rubbish. I can't believe we would go for a player like this. Its class and accuracy we need for finishing not to mention team player. Sturridge is none of this. He is very very fast but I would rather wait for Walcott and not go for Sturridge. The article in Times said we offered Henderson plus cash for Dempsey. He may not have been worth the 16-20 million we paid but definitely worth more than that. Guys, from a very close source from inside everton, Moyes stayed behind late tonight, something he never does.... We believe that Charlie Adam was on his way over after the match.... Did anybody else notice our players an new signings (including the young lad signed today) not on the team sheet, were sat in the top row, but Adam was with his agent a couple of rows below.....

The op is correct. Yesil, Sahin and Asaidi were all sat together and in that order. I'm not sure who Adam was next to.

The original post in correct. On the TV shot - Adam was a couple of rows down from the other players - Assaidi, Sahin and Pacheco were all sitting next to each other, Adam on his own.

Sahin,Yesil and Assaidi were seated in one place. Then Joe Cole and Charlie Adam were seated elsewhere all suited up with probebly their agents seated beside them
