Looks like Mertesacker is going to be coming to anfield, I think KK just seems to keep impressing me with the players he picks unlike rafa who always picked up all crap players of f all clube as if we were a dumpster. Good going KK sign him he will be good what do you think ed?

hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - he is slower than Carragher carrying Kyrgiakos, I really don't rate him.}

Genuinely, the Mertesacker and Metzelder centre half pairing for Germany in the 2006 world Cup is one of the worst partnerships I've seen. Slow, cumbersome and with the turning circle of an oil tanker. I'll be gutted if he comes.

Anyway, the rumour I've heard is Scott Dann is definitely available if Birmingham go down.

Ed there is a rumour on goal.com that inters transfer director marco branca has said that they can't afford to pay the 30m quoted for sanchez, if it's true do you think we would have a better chance of getting sanchez. Cheers ed

{Ed002's Note - No. I don't think what money Inter have impacts the situation with Sanchez at all.}

you are clearly not in the know mate, as if you were you would know that Conor Thomas is on loan from Coventry, not Craig Connor, whoever that is. .

I have Heard Liverpool's main targets are wingers.
Jarvis for a fee around £8million.
Sanchez for a fee believed to be £25m
Dzsudzsak is a attacking option being considered for a fee of £12.5m.
Kenny is believed to be after a young striker. Marvin Sordell, Shane Long, Wilfried Zaha and Connor Wickham are all potential buys, however with Wickham being the second lowest scoring of the 4 and commanding a price tag of almost 3 times more than the others, I don't see him as an option, and personally think he is overrated.
Kenny also wants to rebuff his defence and has Centre backs such as Micah Richards, Gary Cahill and Mussachio on his list. Dann isn't even being considered, the rumours only started because of FSG's youth policy and him being a self confessed reds fan and scouser. He is in fact quite poor and Birmingham's league position is evidence that none of their defensive players are up to scratch. All three of the players previously mentioned would cost over £10m with some prices rising as high as £17m.
Left back has been a problemtic position ever since the sale of Riise, with players like Dossena and Insua failing to make an impact and Aurelio's unreliability. Fabio Coentrao is seen as a good option however his £22m price tag is making Damien Comolli think twice about the unproven player, with the frenchman believed to prefer Marseille's Taye Taiwo who is handily out of contract this summer, Lyon's Aly Cissokho who would cost around £10m and Everton's Leighton Baines is also desirable although the willingness Everton would have to leeting their prized asset leave to bitter rivals Liverpool is questionable to say the least. He would cost at least £15m and although this is seemingly worth it for the talented local lad who also happens to be a supporter of the historic club, it is quite steep for the 26 year old ex-wigan athletic man. Commoli would seemingly try to negotiate this down to around £12m.
Aquilani may return from his successful loan deal, however that is completely subject to Juventus' willingness to pay the £13.9m buy out clause in his loan contract. Lucas' new contract, Gerrard's return to fitness, Spearing's emergence as a major contender and Raul Meireles' surge in form have changed Commolli's opininon on the need for midfield cover and Jon Williams and Craig Connor are now the only players believed to be being tracked now. Both are young players with bright futures who would be knocking on the door to the first team within 3 years or less and provide excellent potential sell in value should they fail to do so. Connor is in fact on loan at the club at this moment in time with a view to make the deal permanent. This will be a short term blow to Coventry, however they would receive to them what is a substantial sum of money.
The recent stories questioning Reina's commitment to the club are in fact a malicious move from the ex-red Mihaylov. He is attempting to seal a move back to the club however this will seemingly distance him from the club. The 22 year old stopper cclaimed his agent had inside sources. The statement which suggested Reina has wanted out for over 2 years immediately leaves the rumour with no legs to to stand on as the Spanish No.2 signed a 6 year deal with the club less than a year ago, stating at the time he wanted to raise his family in the city, and looked forward to his children adopting the accent. Hardly the actions of a want-away player.

Ed(s) if Juve are gonna play hardball over Aqua and he really doesn't want to come back (and I don't think he does) it's probably only because they can't afford him. If this is the case would our best option be to ask for a player as part of the deal? I would like Krasic but I'm sure they wouldn't want to lose him so how about Marchisio? I've heard some good things about him could this be an option and would we want him, or anyone else they have?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Not really. Juventus want to spend their money elsewhere and they have the option to take Pirlo on a free. The players they would make available are affaelle Palladino, Sebastian Giovinco, and Amauri.}

Liverpool are likely to sign Jarvis, Young, Marveax, Dann, Adam, a left back (hopefully Baines) and a striker (maybe Benzema or Toivonen)

Obviously I can't say we WILL sign these because it is still months away from the transfer window and nothing is done yet. These are the top targets though.

On the way out will almost certainly be N'Gog (possibly just in loan), Maxi, Jovanovic, Poulsen, Kyrgiakos, Insua, El Zhar, Plessis, Degan, Aquilani, Konchesky, Jones (if Reina decides to stay as it would be unwise to sell two goalkeepers) and maybe Cole, Kenny likes him but he may want to go somewhere like West Ham where he will play more games.

So, Alberto Aquilani, it appears that he too may be swayed by the arrival of KK.
Could it be that when he was loaned out to Juventus he did not want to play for Liverpool under Woy?
Is there any evidence to suggest that he will return should Juventus scoff at the deal, apart from paper talk?
I think it would be a fantastic 'signing', a creative CM with vision and skill that we would not have to pay for, that would be a great turn of events and free up more cash as we would not need to buy a new CM.
Ed what are your thoughts on this?

Anfield Andy

{Ed002's Note - Juventus are just playing hardball over the contracted end-of-loan fee being too high. Since the laughable transaction was first set up with Roma by Rafa Benitez to bring the player to Anfield he has not been happy. Initially lonely and struggling to overcome an injury, Aquilani will tell anyone who listens that he wants to stay in Italy. His agent was instructed in January to look for another club. I would expect him to move to Juve in the end. It would be disruptive to have a disgruntled player in the dressing room.}

Ed i know we've been linked to Dario Srna in the past but with him being available on a free this summer and still being only 28, do you think there'll be any interest in the player from us this summer?thanks Ed. {Ed002's Note - I thought he had another year to run but have not checked. I doubt Liverpool would be interested.}

I live in Poulton where Adam and his fiancees family live. She owns her own business and knows my sister quite well. She is house hunting on the outskirts of London at the mo as Adam is moving in Summer. When she asked her where to that's when she said where she was looking at houses but would say no more. Can only be Spurs so we aint getting him. And the Blackpool supporters I know have been saying since Jan hes got a move to either Utd or Spurs in Summer.-Aidan.

As I have stated several times over the last month my source is still insisting that we are going to make a major move for Lukaku in the summer. My source is involved in betting not football but I am prepared to listen to him when he has given me two 12-1 winners and a 20-1 winner in the last 2 days.

i guess your willing to bet your house on that fact then?

any chance of sharing these 12-1 and 20-1 winners with the rest of us next time!
- - - - - - - - - - -
I wouldn't bet anything on it if I'm honest he was having a bloody awful month with his tips until yesterday!
As for sharing them they cost me a lot of money but here are today's
4.35 Lud - 1 1/ 2 pts win Count of Tuscany 4/ 1 gua Lad/ Hill/ B365. 6.25 Cork - 1 1/ 2 pts win Burnfoot Girl 8/ 1 gua VC/ P.Pow.

Ed apperently we have met with psv and are looking to negotiate a deal for ola tiovenen , is this true ed? the reports didn't say liverpool want him , it said liverpool have met psv and are thrashing out a deal. be a decent signing , how much would he cost roughly £10m-£14m? {Ed001's Note - we tried to get him in January and he rejected a move to Liverpool, that is all I know about any deal for him sorry.}

I heard last year we were watching Banega, and have we ever watced the uruguay midfielder Lodeiro ?
Also if baines and dann join we could have a all scouse back four, this with more latin americans has a good tough/ skillful dynamic don't you think ?
p.s let young join the mancs instead , very average.
pps. just this minute the radio anounced we're offering naming rights to "new anfield"
i look forward to your response (this time)

Hi Ed. Love the site. Quick question. I have heard we are considering Lukaku. .we have caroll now so would we need another big striker?
As for defenders, Sokratis papastathopoulos seems to be a good investment for the future. and im sure panathinaikos would accept a swap for Kyrgiakos with some cash?good idea?
Finally a little tip. . Liverpool to win the PL title next year!

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are looking to improve their squad and are not just looking at a starting 11. There is no denying the many clubs interested in Lukaku including Liverpool. The problem that most clubs are having is the fee being demanded - €30m. For an unproven raw talent that is soon as too high by many suitors. Swap deals are not common.}

Ed
coz of lucas signining new contract

does it mean we are no longer interested in charlie adam?

{Ed002's Note - No, I am sure that he was not being considered as areplacement for Lucas.}

Ed i know theres loadza adam johnston rumours flyin arounfd but is there really any chance we could get him? Im sure man city realise hes a gud player and they certainly don't need the money so theres hardly much of a chance they'd sell?!

{Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as whether they want to sell the player or not. If they decide to add more players to their already over subscribed squad space needs to be made. Alternatively, the player may be PO at lack of opportunities. So at the very least a chance exists.}

Over in Boston for a few days and decided to do the Fenway park tour. The place is buzzing with the season about to start. Our guide works in the press office for the sox and he said don't beleive the talk about the owners sticking to financial fair play etc, they will spend as they are driven by success. Last year it was their pitchers who let them down. Mr Henry and co spent on pitchers to solve one problem and have still spent heavily on their batting line up attempting to obtain the world series despite scoring the second highest runs in the league last season. These guys want to suceed and don't care how much money they spend and everyone associated employed with the sox was saying how a vast amount of the owners money has been set aside to spend in the summer.

Expect to see us linked with Adam Johnson over the next couple of days in papers. . He has only started 8 league matches this season. Could the fact he was brought up in the same youth team as Carroll help persuade the lad to move over to us from the citizens. . . ?
Southern Scouse.
