A positive comment by RH - "If Fernando (Torres) isn't playing one week, you have got to get someone in who has got the same level of quality." -
This is exactly what LFC fans & players want and need to hear. Just need to go out and do it! IMO and with RH comment in mind, I would look at Hulk &
Romelu Lukaku especially. Lukaku maybe only 17 has all the attributes of 'Drogba' already he would beat up the oposition defence just like 'drogba' does. I remember the euro tie when we played Marseille drogba was just class and it was down to him that we lost the tie. IMO we need to sign him asap or he will be gone. Ed whats your opinion of Lakuka and do you think he would fit in with LFC and would it be realsitic?

red deano YNWA {ed's note - quality player but he will not move until he has finished school, I am not sure when that is though.}

On the assumption that roy keeps his post until january, i hope john henry and the board are being well advised about , players, the transfer window, etc.
and i hope that they don't take roy's advice and sanction carlton cole and co! let's hope NESV are as wise as they seem to be, and at least appoint a true footballing man to oversee transfer dealings! ok, if roy is to stay, let him coach, don't let him buy useless drabble and re-create fulham , just let a man who knows buy great players for our club!

Chilean manager Manuel Pellegrini will be offered the Liverpool job in the next few weeks, to replace the outgoing Roy Hodgson, who is expected to be relieved of his duties as Liverpool boss in coming weeks. Pellegrini is currently a free agent after being sacked from Real Madrid earlier this year, despite having a successful season in La Liga.

Reports in his native Chile claim that Liverpool have made formal contact with him, and several others about the possibility of taking the reigns at Anfield, with Pellegrini the preferred option.

The tabloids in Spain claim that he has been monitering the situation at Liverpool and analysing the squad by watching their matches, and has already identified potential targets.

These reports are yet to be confirmed, however with Hodgson's job under scrutiny and John W.Henry said to be looking to appoint someone of his choice, so these reports may not be far off the mark

You lads can call Kyrgiakos a good player if he keeps Drogba quiet next week and then so will I, but personally I think he won't, and even if he does there is no way we'll handle Malouda and Anelka the way they're playing.

Hodgson will cack it and with Kuyt back he'll shift Maxi left and have 3 in the middle with Gerrard just off Torres to not be overun in midfield.

We are at home, Man city got at them why can't we? Cmon Ngog!

If Roy does go, I'm sure we'll see the usual names mentioned for the job - Rikjaard, Pellegrini, Dalglish, Klinsmann, Hiddink and co.

Personally, I think Rijkaard and Pellegrini would be the front-runners for the job. I'm sure Hiddink will be coveted, but he'll honour his Turkey contract.

I'd go for Pellegrini. Free agent for starters, and he got unjustly sacked from Real Madrid. 96 points in La Liga that season, top scorers (102). Only concern is that they conceded 35 goals in the 38 games. I like Liverpool to have a tight defence and be a solid unit. But I'd give him a chance. Plenty of experience at Villarreal (where he did a fantastic job) and at R.Madrid he did a great job also.

To everyone saying we should sign Iker Muniain, I completely agree with you. He is a brilliant prospect and already a wonderful player. I watch quite a bit of Athletic Bilbao matches as they are my favourite Spanish club. He completely ripped Getafe apart tonight and really deserved a goal. We should sign him and Llorente from Athletico.

Hmmmm. Is this the same Roy who during his time at Blackburn, Fulham and now ourselves has managed to rack-up a grand total of 6 away wins including today's? The same Roy who has been a manager for 594 games and only won 238 of them (less than half)?. If he is one of the best managers England have got it's no wonder the England manager is Italian.

But unfortunately we are syuck with hime til at least Xmas I think and possibly until May.

Having read the Sunday papers today I am really disappointed not to have read a load of made up rubbish regarding Liverpool FC and its players.
So not wanting to go a weekend without the usual crap being printed here is what they will print tomorrow:
1. They have found a secret clause in Reina and Torres' contracts that state if they beat Bolton 1-0 during any match this season, this will trigger a £5M release clause for both players.
2. Stevie G and Carra have had a massive bust up with Maxi for scoring the winning goal, they have grown to like being in the bottom 3 and are furious with him.
3. After today Excellent away support NESV have decided that the fans sing too loudly and for too long for their liking, so they are looking to sell up ASAP.

Anyone else here rate Ajax right back Gregory van der Wiel? He had a great World Cup, and I gather that he was close to signing for R.Madrid (but Jose Mourinho decided that he would use Ramos at CB and buy Carvalho). He seems to be great going forward but a fantastic defender also. I would sign him (provided we had the finances) and stick him in at right back. He's better than Johnson in my opinion (whos good going forward, but awful at defending).

Some people really make me laugh. You have the cheek to rant on about how C.Cole would be a bad signing, how certain players aren't good enough for our club, how certain people wouldn't improve us. . . . . . .yet you suggest the notion that we buy Matt Jarvis for a pretty hefty fee? Seriously, make your minds up folks. Yes, he's playing well for Wolves but he's at his level and he'll never perform at a higher level than he's at now. He wouldn't improve us in the slightest and Wolves would want like £10m for him which is a total waste of money. Face the facts, he's not good enough for our club just like C.Cole!

Is this the reason NESV got the bid ahead of Kenny Huang?. . . . .

The former Liverpool suitor Kenny Huang, exposed by sportingintelligence in August (link here) as someone with limited sports business credentials who lied under oath in an embezzlement trial (which he won), has today been served with legal papers in London that accuse him of fraud, deceit and defamation among other things, charges that if proven could cost him around $10m.

The plaintiff in the case is a Florida resident, Deidre Halley-Wright, a former business associate of Huang. Huang is one of nine co-defendants in an action relating to a car import business. Huang has 20 days to respond to the summons, and could face a trial or a judgement against him in his absence if things get that far.

Huang gained international prominence when bidding for Liverpool, then pulling out without explanation.

Huang was in London to take part in a panel discussion about sport in China as part of an event called the Global Sport Summit.

Ms Halley-Wright had tried unsuccessfully to serve the papers several times on Huang in the USA, where he is domiciled, leading to a judge in Florida giving her extra time in August to serve him. The judge at the time described Huang as "very successfully evading service" up to that point.

Amid farcical scenes at today's conference, Huang refused to answer any questions about Liverpool or his sports businesses, such as they are, and was eventually chased down a corridor by a group of journalists and camera crews, declining to talk about the lawsuit, until he escaped in a lift. He was later escorted by security through an underground exit, from where he was driven away in car with tinted windows.

A fuller report of the escapade will appear in tomorrow's Independent.

We should definitely look at this Iker Muniain. Never heard of him till tonight, but that means there probably won't be a bidding war if we chase his signature.
He's 17 and absolutely destroying Getafe. I'd say we could get him for around £15-17m.

Romelu lukaka appears to be an incredible player , he looks certain to be a superstar for many years whoever he signs for , still only 17 he will be a phenomenom . Surely LFC should just pay whatever his club is asking for and play him .

What do you think ?

Should he be signed as soon as possible whatever it takes ?

- - - - - - - - -
All wrong, except for the Romelu Lukaku part. Guus Hiddink speaks flawless English, has been successful everywhere he's been and was a favourite of Chelsea fans - having only lost once in the half season he was temporary first team coach - and turned down the full manager's position at the end of the season.

The only problem is he never sticks around long enough to establish a dynasty that ensures future success.

Don't get me wrong mate, that wasn't aimed at you nor was it a dig. As you may well know, these rumours about certain people being spotted in airports and stuff are usually made up. But if you say your mate seen Dalglish on the way back from Amsterdam, fair enough. Could have been for many things, could have been coming back from Eindhoven (Afellay), we've been linked with Ola Tiovonen (PSV) and Ricky van Wolfswinkel (Twente). You could put many conclusions together about that to be fair.

In reply to the below:
It has been revealed that Glen Johnson won a case in court implementing a super injunction against sections of the media and press publishing details of his private life. Supposedly, before the World Cup he hooked up with a man from Brighton. Then during the World Cup, after reporters learned this, his wife put a ring on her wedding finger (a ring she was seen wearing many times before, on the opposite hand).

I have a friend who works for a Premiership club and he gets to hear a lot. By all accounts Johnson hasn't been the only naughty boy. David James and Wayne Rooney also got court injunctions preventing the reporting of their illicit relationships at the England hotel during the world cup. Oh yes, Rooney's been at it again!

Johnson is moving to Malaga in January for 17m Euros

have posted on here before and have never felt the need to lie. just for the record, i live in dartford(glen johnson family's area) and have a good friend who glen johnson begged to take out for dinner for months and months. SHE IS 100% female and consistantly turned him down. .she said he was too young~fit as a fiddlers arm too. just to confirm his family live in dartford still as im aware and he used to frequently pop back and drive round in the area in his black ferrari and had a range rover before that. he also used to break club rules while at portsmouth and play the odd game with his mates at goals 5-a-side in the area. witnessed it with my own eyes!
and just for the record, he stole the toilet seat from b&q's in dartford. . .proper badboy!

I think Andy Carrol should be bought young, english and will soon be playing for the national side.
he may have some issues but if he can control those them and keep the aggresive mentality on the field, he would be a very good buy.

in NESV plans would be a good buy due to young age and would have a re sale price
what do you think ed? {ed's note - not for me, he is not someone I would be pleased to see at the club, he makes Joey Barton seem like a nice guy.}

The above was posted at 5:15 with 33 believeables and 6 unbelieveables. Now another post has 18 bels for Roy to stay and 12 unbels for Roy to leave. It's amazing what a goal does.

I for one am under no illusions if Joe Cole hadn't got injured then we would not have won the game. We had good possesion but no creativity at all in the final 3rd untill Ngog came on and created more space for Torres.

Do you honestly think that Roy would have brought a midfielder off and a striker on and played 4 4 2 and went for the win?

We played so much better in the 4-4-2 when Ngog came on. I know Ngog does not have a lot of fans on this site but he put in a pretty good display of linking up the play in the centre of the field and bringing the midfielders up with him. I think his touch and football sense are getting better. And I am somewhat glad Joe Cole picked up that knock because he was horrible again today. I realise we did not buy him to play him on the left but that is where he fits right now and he could do better than that! I think we should play the 4-4-2 all the time now even with the strikers we have. Torres with one of Ngog or Pacheco. Jovanonic and Kuyt on the wings. Then in January we need to buy two wingers and a striker. I would like Young, Affelay, and Llorrente/ Hulk.
XI after January:
GK-Reina
RB-Johnson
CB-Kelly
CB-Agger
LB-Mavinga
CM-Gerrard

Really well done to the lads today and especially RH. As long as he's coach he has my backing, how the hell can u judge a manager after a few months lets hive him a season then judge him. So long as we are in the top half of the table by xmas we can kick on with 1 or 2 top additions to the squad. Ive followed this site since the summer and some Liverpool fans are a joke. U all banging on about FR, GH, give yr wet dreams up and support Roy and the team. Support what we have, not what we dont. This is LIVERPOOL YNWA, keep the faith, that's what we do. This can still be a successfull season for us Fa cup, europa leage and Cl place all still to play for. So come on and get behind the team. ABring on Chelsea next! !

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I think LFC have to be higher than the top 10 in 10 games time , finishing 7th this season would be too poor . We need to be aiming for the top 5 by christmas , then stamping some authority on the league .

Where are these Guus Hiddink rumours coming from all of a sudden? Would love to see him at Anfield but I honestly think it is just wishful thinking. What do you think Ed any substance to these rumours? {ed's note - hard to tell mate, I am not sure where they are actually originating from, but you would have to expect him to be at least contacted.}

guus hiddink has never backed out of his contracts always been loyal i don't think it will be any different with turkey either

AN UNBELIEVABLY BAD ECONOMIC CRISIS IN TURKEY (WORSE THAN GREECE) WHEREBY THE TURKISH FA CANNOT AFFORD HIDDINK'S WAGES, WILL ALLOW HIS RELEASE BY MUTUAL CONSENT. HE WILL BECOME NEW MANAGER OF LIVERPOOL WITHIN 2 WEEKS.

if turkey do tell him they can't afford to keep him on then maybe possible he could join us, , id like to see him as manager, we will see hey
All round the fields. . .of Anfield Road! Where once! We watched the King Kenny play! (and could He play! )

I'm slightly confused here. Could someome sum up these rumours/ scenarios regarding Dalglish in Amsterdam and Hiddink in London?

Also, didn't see Hodgson's body language. Did he go straight down the tunnel or what?

Thanks.

Dalglish returned from Amsterdam last Monday and Hiddink was sighted in London visiting Cheslki with another writer assuming there could have been a meeting. Hodgson looked very stressed/ tired/ unhappy which was even spotted by Sky. He walked straight down tunnel after brief handshakes without seeming to acknowledge the crowd who were superb throughout the game. You would have thought it was a home game.

Maybe things are not as they seem but referring to my last post, I think the End Game is near.

Antonio cassano won't be at liverpool ppl lol, , hes appoligised for the issues and asked his chairman to keep him as he wants to stay at sampdoria, and if he don't stay i can only see him staying in italy cos his family r happy there. quoted on goal.com Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano has told the press that he has apologised to president Riccardo Garrone and that he wants to remain with the club.

- - - - - - - - - -
Cassano is not good enough for Liverpool anyway. Nowhere near the class of Zola and Baggio.

me either and ur right they were much better, , , , cassano hardly scores lol most in a season he scored for roma was 18, , most he scored in a season for real madrid 2 most he scored in a season for sampdoria 15 not the signs of a top striker lol and now hes 28 not like hes gunna get much better

I posted last week about Dalglish being in Amsterdam last weekend allegedly talking to a new signing? Reading the Guus Hiddink rumours earlier and Hodgsons body language, I'm putting 2 and 2 together. . .but am I coming up with the right result?
How long do NESV have to make a decision on Hodgson? Didn't they have 28 days from take over?

Baden Powell

to support you conclusions i also posted a day or so ago that Guus Hiddink was in london on thursday the 28th, because he went into chelskis training ground, add this to your jigsaw, did he have a meeting in london with NESV? 2+2?

Four new strikers, seriously do you believe that? Dzeko will cost 35 - 40 million, Gomez over 20 mil and Carlton Cole around 10 - 12. So minimum 65 million when we need two wingers, a left back, possibly a new centre half and just one striker. Absolute rubbish.

Gomes is a part ex with Babel going the other way. 11million.

Dzeko 35/ 40 million lol. . come for 16mil.

Cole will come for 8million with couple of youngsters going to London.

Owen 3 million.

Torres will leave to Barca 40 million plus 2 very good players one a centre midfielder and one a winger.

Hodgson was told before the game that he was on his way. Watching his body language he looked like a guy on death row. Looked tired and drawn and left almost immediately down the tunnel.
The win made no difference. Gerrard looked lost up front and uninterested. Much better when he dropped back which was forced on Roy.

We never replaced sammy hyypia he was a steadying influence in the defence , i watched liverpool when they were in the old second division the first shanks did was build the spine of the team
tommy lawrence in goal ron yeats centre half and st john centre foreward then built the team around them
we have reina and torres but we need a commanding centre half who will settle the defence and give confidence to all around him
(ps i said vidic wasnt as good as weve got but he is more consistant than what we have )

()()

31 Oct 2010 17:30:10
Roy dosent know what to do does he. I'm sorry but sometimes you have to earn your pay and he just Isn, t . The reason Rafa got sacked last year is because of his insistsnce in trying to make Lucas into a creative midfielder from a defensive posistion. And I was hoping Roy would of recognized this. Put gerrard in that position and bring shelvey to play behind Torres if this is the formation you want to play as a manager. As I type this David ngog has just put the weakest worst cross I have ever seen on a pitch. I know he's young and entitled to make mistakes but so is Pacheco and he has certainly done enough to warrant a place on the bench. I'd love to know what ngog does in training.

Watching Bolton v LFC. Does anyone else think Bolton's tactic is to get the long ball on Kevin 'fatty' Davies' head on the edge of the box so he can jump, fall over and claim a free kick which they can hopefully score from?
Dont know why people are knocking Torres either - I think he's trying hard against sturdy opposition.

I do hope not. . I do not want to see this mercanary anywhere near our beloved LFC again,
He left to win things. he sat on the bench at Real and we won the champions league and FA Cup!. he gets the chance to come home and instead joins Newcastle, when they get relegated he again attempts to come home but when he don't get his own way he breaks the cardinal rul ein loyalty and joins the skonks!
Ive read on numerous occasions now that he plays for the money not the club, and he won't 'go to a lower prem team' So hopefully that's us out then!
He doesn't deserve to wear our shirt again or have us fans sing his name. let him rot on the Mancs bench

Roy Hodgson should be sacked now. Flipping Stevie Wonder could see that the formation he keeps picking isn't working and that Torres needs some help. Why not take Lucas or Miereles off and put Jovanavic up top with him? If we're gonna get a new manager, surely the new man needs a good few weeks to assess what he has and what he needs? Surely the NESV people can see we can't carry on like this FHS

I went on the Liverpool legends tour on Thursday with Alan Kennedy, and after the tour I went for dinner in the Boot Room and on the table next to us were 3 very important looking men in suits and one man in a Liverpool suit (red tie with Liver bird etc.) They had a lot of paper work, and shook hands at the end, as the 3 men wwalked off the Liverpool man looked very happy and went to whisper something to another man in a similar suit.

If the rumours are true that we have been offered Lisandro Lopez then he will cost a bit more than £15 reported on here because he cost Lyon around 22 million so why would he cost us anyless two years later and is he really the profile of striker we need but if you could get him for £15 by all means go for it what you think ed ? {ed's note - I am not entirely convinced by him I have to say, I would much prefer to go for a real top class striker than one who is just better than Ngog.}

Ed, am I right in saying that January is the last transfer window before the new UEFA rules reguarding club spending apply. If so then surely we will be looking to spend big in Jan. From what I know about the new rules they seem to be an advantage to us as we are a profitable club and with a new stadium and intent on increasing worldwide revenues we will have a huge amount of money available for transfers. Also surely Man City will look to sign Torres in Jan as it will be there last chance to spend big before the new rules. But I don't see him leaving in Jan and I think he would be mad to sign for city. I don't see them finishing in the top 4 this year and next season onwards they will not have any money for transfers. Is what I am saying about the new rules true? Do you have any info on our January targets?

M1K£ {ed's note - you are right, the new rules will come into play in the summer, but they are not going to be enforced immediately. They will be judged over 3 year's accounts, and so will not actually be enforced until 2014.}

was gunna say big spending will be going on till atleast 2012/ 13 season cos it says on uefa site that's when it will be brought in {ed's note - they are going to be taking an overall view from the previous 3 years when they judge spending. That is what makes it difficult to judge, some clubs may feel it is worth investing now then cutting back for the next two years.}

If what I have been told is true the new rules with regards to spending/ profit etc. will not affect man city at all. All they need to do is sponsor themselves eg. Shirt sponsorship from one of there own companies for let's say 300 million per annum they every year they will make a profit so be able to spend whatever. . Simples. TP {ed's note - that has already been sorted mate, the rules do not allow that to happen.}

I beleave hulk will come in and i feel babel will leave but it won't be a part swap deal. i mean every time we get linked with a winger people just knock off 9mil and say "+babel" it doesn't work like that. clubs are not just there to suit lfcs fantasies. i feel babel will either go to birmingham or back to holland for about 7mil and hulk will sign for 14-16mil. turan might sign for about 9mil but i am not to well up on this. as for a striker i don't know but ill make one thing clear forget about Llorente, suarez, lopez, gomez, aguero and podolski i don't no wear people get these names from but if i had 10 houses i would put them all on lfc not to sign any of those names, assuming roy actually manages to get a striker this time following his 'tired' attemt in summer it will most likely be a carlton cole type figure. you no the ones, class, get the ball on the ground & get the team playing with swift inter-linking play lol! ! !

I don't know which planet you were living on for the past 2 weeks , but gomez has got his form back. scored 4 in his last 2 league games. if that's not form then i don't know.

Reply

Im from South Africa, so i don't get to watch Bayern's matches often, but if he scored 4 in the last 2 days i would say sign him, He would be perfect to partner Torres upfront! Otherwise i would like us to go for Benzema. Ed the only reason why i suggested a cm that could pass a ball is, if gerrard or meirelles gets injured what happens then!?! Lucas is not capable to perform there! Oh and Liverpool should sell Kuyt as well! He is only running around on the pitch, can't cross well and can't even score goals!

Sweinsteiger wants to come to the PL, but i can't see him coming as he is talking about chelsea and man u. I think we should try Gervinho then if we fail with Swein

Were are u people getting the idea that we need centre mids? its total rubbish, we hav gerrard, meireles and lucas as back up, and lucas is better than people think. and also its not certain that aquilani will leave permanantly.
we need 2 wingers and a striker. and maybe a left back but i thin aurelio is solid there when hes fit, he was excellent 2 years ago when he was playing nearly every game, and he adds a threat from set pieces. .

affellay, mata and llorente are the way to go, but llorente will be very tough to attract, cavani could do well i think, big, strong, intelligent and good finisher. .

what do u think ed?

I think us Liverpool fans should have a say on the transfers in january , cause im worried if roy is armed with money that he might blow it on flops ( e.g Poulsen ) only if they had a poll on the liverpool website of some of the players were linked with and if we could all vote and then the board and manager not necessarily go out and buy them but just take it into consideration on what the fans think. Wont ever happen but would be nice to have a say , because ive noticed on here the same names keep cropping up so i think its obvious we all want similar players ( Hulk , LLorente , Turan , Honda , Hazard , Sanchez , Affelay , Taiwo )

We need two wingers and there are plenty of options :

Affelay
Hazard
Honda
Sanchez
Turan
A.Young
Mata

If you could choose 2 liverpool fans and ed which ones would you choose? really we need to base it on price , Age , wages , Desire to play for LIVERPOOL FC , adaptbility to premier league. {ed's note - on those conditions, it has to be Honda and Afellay.}

Left wing : matt jarvis he looked amense yesterday but has had a good season so far snap him up roy 7m was fast provided width and looks as if he can cut it with the best or honda has a great free kick and vey quick adaptibly anywhere down the left but would cost like 15m but excellent player.

right wing : alexis sanchez big money move can't see it happening til summer as kuyt has no pace and no big clubs need a right sided player utd have nani and real have ozil pedro leon and others class act 25m or 20m plus babel hes fast has bags of tricks and excellent crosser of the ball david bentley is a great player but just dosent get game time he has a great cross and deadly from set pecies

striker : adebayor anyone had a fallout with kompany and there not going to get rid of him as hes one of there best players if not the best tall and very good in the air him and torres would do well together i reckon and the option of benzema who is avalible for about 15m as hes a bench warmer for real quality player too and would work well with torres too

holding midfielder : javi martinez similar to alonso but better in the air as hes 6, 3 10m for great price and hes an excellent disreputer of the ball or lass diarra 10m also strong defensivley replacemaent for mascherano as merieles prefers to attack thn defend

Reading alot of the daily rumours on this site, it really makes my blood boil at times. Apart from the synical and malicious entries from Mancs or blue noses, true reds must start accepting the current position Liverpool FC is in.
It breaks my heart to say all of the following but all the emotion, passion and history will not see us to better times.
Firstly, the ownership saga; it went wrong when Moores and the side kick Parry were at the helm. Moores sold off our beloved club without any due diligence. Parry was our commercial director for 10 years and never moved the club on in terms of more revenue streams (eg the far east etc). Then came the cowboys from Texas, enough said. As for the new owners, I can't see them pouring countless millions into transfers, they seem to be a professional commerical outfit so perhaps it will be a long term project rather than a "buy over night" play thing like Chelsea or Man C. Personally I think this is a better option in the long term. I also think having a 60K+ stadia is more pressing than the current team situation. What I mean by this is; our present league position will be only temporary, but if we want to succeed in years to come we need the extra revenue from the extra 20K seats.
Then there's the managers. Rafa caused as much of our issues as H&G. H&G never once picked any of the teams on the pitch, they never went to Rafa and said, "oh, I think Lucas is a great player. .", they never said have 60+ pro's on the books and still not have a descent team on Saturday. And despite what Rafa may say he did have the money.
Roy on the overhand, seems way out of his depth. The style of play is negative, the lads seems scared to go out and win a game, what ever happened the the L'pool sides that went out without fear knowing they would score 4 or 5. ROY YOU ARE NOT MANAGING A MID TABLE SIDE NOW! .
That is the end of my rant, some of you may disagree, but we have to look at the situation with our heads not our hearts.

What the hell. been watching clips of turan and sanchez all morning.why hasnt woy gone for these players are even consider them. them are class and with them we'd prob have the most dangerous midfield in europe. also gomez is a good strong player and with him a partner to torres with that midfield those strikers would get lots of service. I agree honda would be a good first team player. our biggest mistake was getting rid a rise.i think we should try get him back. he was a solid left back. if nesv want to make this a winning team then they have to spend a bit first. by the end of next summer id like this to be the first team. .

I know this isn't a rumour but an idea. Before i start i think Torres is an amazing striker but if we got offered £50-£60 mil i think we'd be massive fools to turn down that type of money as we can bring 2-3 world class strikers

Would like to see in Jan
Benzama should be a target he's class and cheap as he's warming the bench at Mardrid think

Santa Cruz is a better option than calton cole (scores more)

Micheal Carrick or Tom huddleston

this lot wouldn't cost alot to bring in need to buy a backup left back and right back and also but not a priority

Would like to see Babel leave £8 mil for him is an amazing deal if wee can get it. (how many chances)

What does everyone think

rightback -
leftback-
creative midfielder-
leftwinger-
rightwinger-
striker-
whats players would you like to see in these postions.
ngs77 {ed's note - I would look at Srna for right back (with Kelly used as the back up), Taiwo/Cissokho for left back (Mavinga as the back up), Honda as the creative midfielder, Afellay and Sanchez as the wingers and Llorente as the striker.}

I think once NESV have spoken to Torres they'll know they have to buy in January or he's gone in the summer. Even if it's not the exact players/ prices above, I suspect there'll be significant investment this winter.

Get Real Guys,
Jesus Navas- Not coming very happy in spain gives him chances of the national side
Juan Mata- Not coming signing new contract loves Valencia improves chances of national side
Alonso- Dream on.
Now In January we will bid or
Lopez, Dzeko or Gomez as our Big name player My money is on gomez or dzeko.
Our winger bids shall be for Ashley Young, N'Zogbia and Affelay.
And im not too sure who we shall bid for as a left back. That will be it guys please don't name all these people we've got a good side at the moment just everyone needs to step up. Max we will sign 3 players in Janaury and we WONT replace lucas 80 apps at 23 hes been in our side even when we had Masch, alonso stevie?! hs a good player please shutup about him being bad."

I agree with most of what you say, but Mata leaving is a very real possibility. Some would even argue that tying him to a new contract is merely a precaution to make sure that the highest price is paid by whoever purchases him. Valencia are still in massive debt and any big money offer would be very hard for them to refuse.

Jovetovic - Fiorentina
Ibrahim Affelay - PSV Eindhoven
Connor Wickham - Ipswich
Ashley Young - Aston Villa

I agree we need about 5 or 6 players but can't see that happening in.jan.not with Roy as manager if he is. We need a left back 2center mids one attacking and one holding Winger 2 strikers.that's just to get in top 4 overall I think we need about 1o or 11 players some as squad players but need to be at good quility

Well personally I think there are lots of young talent that can't break into Man City, Real, Barca, Inter that we should really get a deal on, they would fit into our first team and bench.

Man City:
Adam Johnson (Young, English, Very talented and about 12 million)
Adebayor (Fast, Strong, Good in the air, Unsettled at city)
Bellamy (Fast, Bulldog like, good at finishing; Although Old, Problem off pitch but he would be good as he is proven)

Real Madrid:
Gago (Young, Talented and would be a great player if he gets game time, maybe a bit risky)

Barcelona:
Maxwell (Last season started for Barca but has gone out of favour, very attacking but also a great defender)
Cacares & Henrique (Both very good CB but not better than Pique and Puyol, Out on loan so maybe the summer, Agger is very injury prone, Carra is near the end and Ayala is championship quality at best, Only Wilson and Skrtel are players who can play week in week out, wilson isn't good enough yet)

Inter:
Santon (Great prospect, very talented and extremely young)

obviously we shouldn't but all but these are cheap, out of favour options for us that are good and will have a sell on price.

Johnson, Adebayor and Santon/ Maxwell would be the main three that I'd like as Johnson adds width and is a great winger, Adebayor is sometimes occasionally bad on/ off the pitch but if he gets first team football he'd be great, Santon/ Maxwell are both great defenders and are both great at advancing forward, Santon can play RB/ LB

But as i understand it ed, aquilani has a fixed price of 12m regardless of how he plays, if he was carp then juve would just not take up the offer to buy but if he was a success and they wanted him then 12m was the agreed price.

{Editor's Note: There is an option to buy. I do not believe that there is a fixed or contracted price - and it would not be in Sterling if there were.}

Then Roy has to be stupid. it was such an easy decision not to let aqua go and buy turan instead of merelis(not saying hes a bad player). your thoughts ed?

{Editor's Note: I think he may still be an end of season option. If a wide player comes in January it will not be Arda as he has just had surgery.}

When cisse played for us, does anyone feel that he didn't get a fair crack of the whip, that horrific injury that almost ended his career, etc . well a while ago the lad came out and said that he would love to come back as he has unfinished business and a point to prove in the prem; he would love another chance to play for us! he is certainly playing very well at the moment in greece, playing with pace again and scoring goals.
i think he and torres could be a sound partnership, and he deserves a second chance; we could do a lot worse!

- - - - - - - - - - -
To this poster, Real Madrid had a clause in drenthe's contract disallowing him to feature against them, if they really wanted him to play the game they would have to dish out 2 million euros.
When Hercules's manager was asked wether if he would help drenthe pay the amount, he replied, i wouldn't even pay a euro LOL.
and this is true btw. :)

One big signing we should make in the summer is bring back alberto aquilani. y go out and spend 20m on a creative midfielder when we already have one? the boy was never given a chance! firstly he was injured when he arrived, so mentally , after he was fit he wasnt quite ready. then theres getting to grips with the pace of the prem after coming from italy where the game is slower and less physical, he was our best player the last 5 games of last season and then told he cud go? surely he should have been judged at the end of this season? i don't no one fan who was pleased he was let go. what were your thoughts on it ed? did roy drop his first big h*ll*ck when he let him go, or do you think there was a hidden agenda there that was out of roys hands?

{Editor's Note: It was nothing to do with Roy Hodgson. Aquilani was never happy in England - probably arriving as an injured player was the first issue. He would have been sold if there was not money owing on him (as there still is) so hence the loan. On the good news side of things his performances this season will have increased his value. He probably won't be coming back.}

I understand Liverpool are still looking at Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina. At 20 years old he will keep improving and fits in with the transfer ethos of NESV. A versatile player who can play along the various front line positions, and he nearly joined us a while back only for the yanks to pull the plug on the funding. Not sure on fee but i would expect it to be in the region of £15m

You can't teach an old dog new tricks! grandad roy should put on his slippers and enjoy a hot mug of coa-coa. roy is a true gent but you just can't let sentiment get in the way, his tactics are never going to change, and he is too set in his ways , it doesn't matter if he coaches fulham, grasshoppers, blackburn, US! it will always be the same , tactics from an old mans mind.we lack pace, width, sharp passing, sharp thinking, freedom, and enjoyment !
week in week out boring defensive football -and most of the time we lose or draw and he say's we played well.
so it's time to break the mould, and get us back to good attacking football, hope and entertainment for the fans; and put the heart back in anfield!
other teams need to fear us, at home or away, we need to outplay and outclass our opponent , and we need to be back in the champions league where we belong! sorry roy, you have bitten off more than you can chew!-new manager -new tactics-new start.

"Niko Kranjcar could be given the chance to kick-start his career with a January transfer to Liverpool".

All I know is that if we do get him he would do a much better job than Poulsen! He would be as good squad player and could be used more regularly than Poulsen. I think that Aquilani is going to go to Juve in the summer although I would be sad to see him go. Also a massive plus is he would cost around £2million and has prem experiance.

Ed I have read many comments u have made about doncasters current manager. Due to ur comments I will keep a watchful eye on his progress. I have read ur recent comments stating that u would fancy him as our new manager. You also went as far to say he shud be treated ferguson esc, " no players bigger than the club", blah blah. One of the things you worry about is how he will deal with player power. I respect your knowledge, and I eye for talent. But Liverpool can not take further risks. He wud be a massive gamble. Hodgson was ment to be the stop gap and u see how much that has backfired. We need proven managerial class. Problem is availability, and realistic targets. As we all no mourinho is no 1 ranked. But no chance he is settling down in Manchester. Benitez is realistic but not for another 2 yrs. So we are left with a difficult decision, I wud have bilic, rijkaard or van gael. Unfortunately player power exists and modern elite European managers of football clubs have to deal with it. Woy your the manager ever we one luvs. Give up mate

Hi ed, looking at the formation we play I can't see us buying a 20m plus striker. Personally I would like to stick with the 4231 and buy 2 players. First player is a must! Keisuke Honda, to play just behind Torres. Second would be either afellay or hazard. We need people to hold the ball up, pace, width and a trick or 2. If Honda is a no go then I highly rate marik hamsik. What's your views ed?

{Editor's Note: Honda would be a good addition - as would Afellay. HAzard will not happen, nor Hamsik.}

Been thinking of this whole January transfer saga and think we have enough depth in squad to see us through this season. Let's be realistic no matter who we sign and capture for a good price in Jan is not going to help us win the title this season.

So what should be look to do in Jan, well as I am an arm chair manager I believe we should make a statement of intent with 1 or 2 squad players and 1 big name if possible to show Torres and the rest of the squad the NESV mean business.

So possible signings that I believe we would be able to afford in Jan and would help us into European place at least.

Defenders -

Steve Taylor - Newcastle (versatile defender, young and able to be moulded into a new Carragher. Plus he was the under 21 captain before his injury).

Garry Cahill - Bolton (young promising defender who could again fit into the Carragher ways).

Midfielder's -

Not sure we need anything in the middle of the park with Gerrard, Lucas, Poulsen and Mireiles.

So width is what we need, I would go for

Ashley Young, Aston Villa (he can play left right or as a striker).

Ibriaham Affarley, PSV (would be a good signing and with Kuyt and Babel there he could settle).

Striker

Now people will hit the unbelievable button quicker then Didier Yves Drogba Tébily hits the floor when flicked on a Saturday afternoon, but this is my choice of 1 of 2 players

Carlton Cole - Stop giving him a hard time he is playing for a really crap team with now spirit and no creation. At Liverpool i think he could a very very good job upfront on his own when Torres is injured or as a striking partner.

Robbie Keane, Spurs, we could pick him up for 3 - 4 million as he is 31 and he would without doubt do a job. It was Rafa whole lost us this player for what ever reasons and this cost us the title in 2008.

Of course if we really want to make a statement buy someone cheap (keane) and then put the rest of the cash into Xabi Alonso and get him back at Melwood and Anfield. This would be better the 5 new signings as he would be such an injection of confidence into the team.

One final point all this talk of players leaving, Reina, Torres and others by the papers. Why oh why didn't Roy come out on Thursday and simple say no players are for sale but we are looking at strengthen the squad and i'm interested in Fab from Arsenal and Tevez from city. This would at least say we are a buying club and not a selling club. Even if he has no intentions of buying these players.

31 Oct 2010 07:27:01
All this hysteria about Carra is not what we need at the moment. The lad has played out of position for most of the season, and has done an admirable job.
I was in the Kemlyn against Blackburn and he defended well against Diouf, and bombed on first half, and carried on after break. Maxi was outstanding that day also, which is as it should be. When carry was doubled up on Maxi got involved. It was great to see. I think the Greek deserves his place, and will keep it for 2 reasons. He plays like Carra, in that he puts his body on line for team, and secondly he is dangerous at set pieces! Unfortunately if Johnson is fit, Martin will need to be replaced with Carra. Agger should come in at left back, and then we will have a team with balance. Konch is lacking confidence, and I feel for him because it's tough coming into a side short on confidence. When Fulham were flying, so was he. That's why Roy bought him. We need to be massive today, because Bolton will absolutely come out bombing us. With 4 big men at back we should be OK. Then we need to get ball on floor, and pass and move them off the park. The thing that concerns me is lack of width.

I know rafa made couple mistakes but he was a great manager for us.his high pressing style earned much great reviews.come on man i can remember various matches where rafa turned things around for us and gave us something exciting to see. . for example look at our games this season so far lack of width sitting back lack of goals. i think our first problem was the lost of our deep lying playmaker xabi Alonso. .masch broke up the play and xabi made the play. we lost our heartbeat and never replaced him. .then losing our destroyer masch another great loss replacing our steady rb with glen johnson who looked better going forward while at Pompey. .losing a perfectly solid attacking lb riise for whatever reason still not replaced. .carra losing much pace. . another great loss for us I haven't seen anyone say this but I think Sami hyypia was a tremendous loss. .his presence on set pieces and positional sense kept us solid when need be. . poulsen cannot cut it at all we need players to work for the team I don't think ayoung or Lennon we need I think we need players like Honda, milner at first tuen we could add natural wide players to deepen squad. . please get rid of Lucas. Let's see a midfield pairing of ever banega and Raul miereles. .our three attacking players could be Honda/ milner/ kuyt/ gerrard/ krasic and our lone striker torres with back up dzeko or aguero. .YNWA

Why are people on bout matt jarvis for? yeah he plays good for wolves, but in my eyes that wud be a complete waste of transfer budget. in my opinion i don't want to see any player from the premier league that we have been linked with, move to our club that includes that lazy, inconsistant ashley young. we need to look abroad for flair and creavitivity and listen to daglish's scouting, hulk, turan and banega are just sum who have been recommended by him. so roy listen to him and pls don't buy any more of your 'bargain bin players' (poulsen, poulsen).

Carra debate
Think some of you are letting your heart rule your head. Liverpool's way was never to keep a player just for sentimental value. Our great managers of the past did what was best for the team. That is the most important factor. Just like Paisley knew the pain of being dropped for an FA cup final when he played for us, thus gave him the strength to be able to drop players for FA & European Cups when he was our Manager. Come on Reds, we are better than some of the utter sh#ep that is written on here.

To the sad cases who are giving carra stick, we would never of won in istanbul without carra he has never ever let liverpool down and deserves respect, i can't emagine true redmen slagging carra, i remember sammi hyypia getting slagged to death then picked up his form and now hes gone everyone agrees he should be back here? we have had a bad start to the season, and all of us have to dig deep and do better fans aswell as manager and team, we will come good, so will cara, bob paisleys skids
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
i get that but get this. it's called moving on. i'd have Ayala in carra's poss if not a more experienced replacement next season. that's what i meant by FADING him out NOT tossing him aside. cz most ppls squads out there after next summer transfer window still got him in there leading the defense.

Wrote a message on here a while back stating that I would like to see us sign Mata and gibbs.

Seen a lot of Mata over the years and although could possible struggle physically in the epl, I have always thought potentially as good a player as silva or iniesta ( good passing, pace , movement of the ball and tidy finisher ).

Gibbs is 2nd choice l/ back at arse, will one day be 1st choice for england massive potential, and although arse would be reluctant to sell a bid in the region of £15m I don't think they could resist, on top of that we would offer him 1st team football and a more competetive salary.

Also a player I love watching is Thomas muller, Fantastic, more of a dream signing but bayern are struggling, would offer £20m + maybe even a deal with Kuyt, Doubt would happen but would love it.

Thoughts Ed cheers

{Editor's Note: Why would Mata come to Liverpool as he is playing for a club who are top of the league and in the Champions League. Also, we are not giving a chance to the kids we have, so buying more is not an immediate priority.}

Jarvis looks decent on wing. Get Charlie Adam too, at least make a bid- -Gerrard's almost 30, we need a midfielder like him.

I'd also love to see Phil Jones in Liverpool shirt and I heard he said his dream is to play alongside Gerrard.

Havent posted for a few days just sat reading all the wish lists of players and managers so here are a few of mine
firstly manager Roy has the seat and therefore automatically my support and we will wait and see if nesv think he is the right man i would however get odriscoll from doncaster and have him as number 2 and coaching an getting the feel for our club traditions and history to take the lead role in the future in other words start a dynasty, lay the first layer of bricks in a new boot room were we promote from within after years of learning the lfc way.
matthew jarvis from wolves to solve left hand side problems has really impressed this season especially aginst manure and citeh and proved he can deliver telling balls into the box and playing with better players he will only improve.
i would also go for bent at sunderland proven in the epl, goal scorer right work ethics and able to play on his own upfront when torres is injured.
these 2 alone will see us prosper in the league and push for fourth
i would buy them in january and wait for major rebuild in the summer.
as for roy right now i think time will prove he is not the man for the job but i also feel we as liverpool fans have been to hasty to jump on his back, he inherited a squadd of very low moral mediocre players in the middle of the worst crisis in the clubs history - so give him a break let him do what he was brought in to do - steady the ship, bring normality back
a good result at bolton will see us climb a number of places(cant be bothered working it out at this time of night)and the table will look much healthier especially after citeh and the spuds today we could be as little as 5 points of fourth spot - not bad for our worst start in 53 years.
so come on lets get behind everyone at the club as "struggling" liverpool might just be starting to see the settling down of our club and team

your thoughts ed would be appreciated

Allot of people on this this site seem to have the sell= and buy= net spend=? and his all seems to be football manger talk. In reality we have taken on the squad that has finished 7th last year and strengthed with Cole, Mereles, Jovanavic, Poulson and Koncheski?

I am in 2 minds as I wish to see Liverpool back where they was 2 years ago and maybe Roy is the right man (Don't get me wrong I was expecting Pelligrini, Ryjkaard, Dalglish etc)

You know because we win one game against a weakend Blackburn side that everythingis O.K? what is going on we are in the bottom 3? ?

I am 41 years old and this is first time that I have ever seen Liverpool in the bottom 3 ever? even when Souness was in charge we was never in the bottom 3? ?

The question I have to ask is the man management going on at the club because we spend 6 million on Poulson and send Aquilani out on loan to the same club for free when he is playing very well and Poulson couldn't get a game for Juve?

Selling a player that Capello said was worth £30+ for £12-14 mill when he has not been given a real chance in the hole is beyond me.

Is it because to sign Joe Cole he had to make certain promises?

Don't get me wrong I like Cole but was Aquilani out on loan because of terms in the contract such as apperences etc under the H & G regeme?

I'm unsure who should be manager but feel that Roy is not the correct man tactics wise or man management wise. We need a real manager and I can also not understand why we let one of the best managers in the world go for £6 mil and pay Fulham money for Roy??

unless NESV can see this (which i'm sure they can) thay need to take serious action unless we get a result tommorow.

The whole top and botttom of this is when are Liverpool going to get a realistic manager.

If you want Roy to stay the then click believable if not unbelieveable

Ed, I didn't get a chance to watch Hercules vs Madrid today. How did Drenthe perform?

{Editor's Note: I did not see the game - but Drenthe is an excellent player.}

This is what Roy said about our striker situation.

He said: "That's clearly not enough. A club like Liverpool shouldn't have to rely on non-specialists like Dirk Kuyt or Ryan Babel ;doing a job; up front when they are primarily wide players.

"We have the same problem with the reserves. We don't have any strikers and a winger called Nathan Eccleston has to play up front.

"'In training, I can't have practice games where each team plays a 4-4-2 because I don't have the front players to do that.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Unless i'm missing somthing wasn't Babel and Kuyt bought originally as strikers?

And we all know that Eccleston is a striker!

Yet another example of Roy's lack of reality.

I seriously can't believe how clueless Roy is knowing that he's been in management for over 30 years. I hope he prooves me wrong but it dosn't sound like he will.

Just wondering where everyone stands regarding paying for players in Jan who could be free in summer.
Personally I don't think we have the pulling power (for qualtiy foreigners) we once had so I would rather avoid a bidding war by paying for them in Jan.

Please vote

Bel - Buy in Jan.
Unbel - Freebies Only.

"Ed you say there needs to be a new board before we appoint a new manager why? If john Henry wants to sack Roy surely he can"

he probably could, but an efficient company (which is how Henry will run Liverpool) doesn't tend to work on the whims of one man - he wants a the board sorted so that they will be able to advise better on who to make the next manager, and to work with the manager!

Ed - I have a feeling that the Jan window will be used simply to add options rather than quality.
I believe NESV would pay decent money for young talent with re-sale value but only once they have gained confidence in the manager and scouting team etc. So for now I think they will be very cautious with transfers.
As for RH he seems to be moaning about a lack of options and I read he's hoping to sign a fair few players. This suggests more bench warmers.
I do believe RH will be intent on signing one decent 15mil + player to appease the fans (or rather in the hope of relieveing some pressure) but that wouldn't leave much left for the squad building he is moaning about.

Having said that Modric and Arshavin didn't cost a fortune so hopefully we can bag some bench warmers of their quality.

Ed - What are thoughts? Can we expect quality or more deadwood? What would you do in Jan given £30 mil.

{Editor's Note: Two decent players.}

Just a few pre-match points to throw out for general discussion;

- Jonjo Shelvey ran past me v Blackburn whilst warming up (should've come on sooner by the way) and, is it just me or is he the spit of Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter? Nearly dropped me pie!

- Should we replace Poulsen with Gerry Marsden? He didn't half get the Kop going which I doubt the Dane will ever do (not in a good way) and I believe the boy Marsden would pass it better.

- Torres seemed happier than he has been and was visibly buoyed by the fans support. . . especially after his goal . He is at Liverpool because of the fans so we should get 100% behind him!

- I'm not particularily superstitious but as far as lucky charms go Sammy Lee isn't. Sorry Sammy. . I know you were well thought of with England but as a club manager/ assistant your track-record is mediocre at best. I'm sure there must be a more suitable role for you at the club.

- Meireles has a Helluvah shot on him and we should look to give him more edge-of-the-box chances. We don't realise it yet but it's what we've been looking for for years. . a player who can strike the ball low and powerfully. When he "tunes in" to the Prem he'll be a star.

- Joe Cole is a useful squad-player but no more than that. He could be an impact-player from the bench in big games or cover for more productive players. Chelski realised this simple fact a long time ago. Are we so far behind in our thinking ?

- Listening to Radio 5's 6-0-6 tonight and the big debate was "Has there ever been a worse Brazilian footballer in England than Lucas?". . . . .this isn't a joke. I frickin hate this media attack on LFC now that we're in the doldrums. That world-class example of professionalism, Robbie Savage, was leading the debate so you know it was unbiased. He even claimed he was better than Lucas. Whether the Derby County player is better than the twice Brazilian Player of the Year is immaterial. The point is loud and clear. On a day when we didn't even play we are being slated. . ridiculed!
I hope that dopey schoolboy grin that Lucas often wears is genuine 'cos I feel for the boy with the amount of crap he's getting. In a more advanced role he is vastly improved and even though I've criticised him myself I can't abide the thought of low-life scum like Savage etc from the media taking pot-shots at us while we're struggling. They love it, they really do. Even the Mirror are trying to stir up crap and it'll get worse. Talksport have been on an anti-LFC agenda for years and the Redknapps are guilty of treason against the Kings of English football (along with other ex-players) so you have to question their motives. It seems to be commercially viable to certain parties to replace us with the soul-less but financially sound Moneybags Manc-Citeh and some individuals appear to be more vociferous than others.
I've noticed how, in a matter of a few months, we're no longer considered "top four" in terms of status and how the Pearly King jellied-eel eating Southern-biased cockney frickers would love nothing more than to see bent Harry's latest club and The Millionaire Manc Misfits overtake us. And how the criticism has become more and more intense since the takeover. The NESV takeover, to me, seems to be rattling feathers in so much as people are fearing that Sugar-Daddies may not be the answer (City are still as s* t as they always were) and that history counts for a helluvah lot.
I believe that we are in far safer hands, far more sporting-savvy hands than we've been in since before David "village-idiot" Moores inherited the reins.
I truly believe we've turned the clock back and that we can begin the "re-birth" now. We will be stronger. .the Phoenix will rise and turn the sugar-daddies money into ashes.
Lord Voldemort and his red soldiers will triumph.

- Can posters please stop scouting for Jan buys on u-tube etc? I won the league with Chester City on a well-known computer manager game with a forward-line of Meehan and Hoskins supported by Jay Tabb and Chris Montgomery. My only top players were De Jong and Jagielka with Agbonlahor on loan. All complete fantasy. I looked at Aquilani on u-tube before we signed him and got really excited but he turned out to be a touch lightweight (though I think he is still a very class act). I saw Poulsen, Shelvey, Pacheco and Meireles on u-tube and, to be honest, you've got to see these players in real-life, over and over, if you're spending millions of pounds on them. You need to assess their attitude, lifestyle and ambition. Look at their fitness and their suitability for our football at Prem level. Are they quick enough. Will they get homesick or yearn for better climates after a while.
Can computer websites or video-games tell you any of this? Of course not. Pacheco, Shelvey and Meireles will be great, don't get me wrong, but I'm saying that agents will only post the good bits.

-Sorry for the rant Ed but I want the very best for my club and the frustrating thing is we have enough in place to succeed but we're at a crossroads where one wrong turn could take us backwards or sideways!

- Just one more point Ed, I went to a stag party a few weeks ago and after a while (and a few drinks) we ended up watching a 1997 film entitled "Copenhagen Nights".

- Does anyone know (maybe from Wikipedia) where Andre Voronin and Chritian Poulson were between, say, 1996 and 1998 ?

Anfieldpete
Let's trust in what we've got and what we can acquire. Let's remember what's happening in the media now so we can throw it back in their chubby little faces in a year or two's time.

You'll never grind us down.

Ed, do you know anything about potential targets for January and the Summer? Would the rumours we've been hearing lately be "accurate" shall we say?

{Editor's Note: I expect a striker and a midfield player - possibly a wide player.}

Hello Ed

Its pretty obvious now that most Liverpool supporters want the same players. Its just a shame that the previous manager and others within the club could not see the talent that was out there. They were to busy buying rubbish players because they were cheaper and then spending more money on that position to rectify the mistake they made. If they spent the money in the first place on a quality signing then we would not have too many squad useless players.
It seems we all want players like: Banega, Honda, Turan, Suarez, Taiwo and maybe players like Affelay, Douglas Costa and Srna(why the hell we never signed him years ago I do not know?)

I agree that these players are great and would probably transform our team to another level, but the only sad thing for me is there are no Englishmen named amongst that list. Its probably the state of play in England with the real lack of talent. I watch our reserves and youth and see potential but they never seem to get any where purely becuase they don't get playing time in the first team.

We need a manager that will is not afraid to play youngsters in the team on a regular basis. I think if we do it right we will have a fine crop of talented players coming into the fray at the same time which could present us with a situation same as what Manure had years ago. Just need a manager to give them a go, but we still need to get the team right first.
If we get rid of bit part players and ones that bring a barrel load of discussions like Lucas and Ngog, Babel and co then the manager has the chance to bleed the youngsters in.

Liverpool will make a £20m bid for Luis Suarez. Ajax are in a poor financial state so they may well have to accept. A bid of £9m will be made for Davide Santon, and a bid of £12m will also be made for Javi Martinez. Jan Verthongen will also arrive for £8m.

The funds will come mainly from NESV, and also player sales, most importantly from Aquilani, who will sign permanently for Juventus for between £10-13m.

Bring in Steve McClaren + Edin Dzeko from VfL Wolfsburg.

Its time he came back to england and if he can get Edin Dzeko to come with him. I would make him lfc next manager.

RE: January transfer market

everyone knows that the kan marktet is the worst time to buy someone. The players are over priced and come with issues.

Anything we spend will be wasted. I don't think we spend big on average players. All we can hope for is cheap experience players that will boost the clubs poor form in short term. cheap winger/ rbk/ lbk/ stk/ cbl/ mid/ lol and kitchen sink
