I think I know the answer to this, but any truth in rumours linking us to Ramsey? I think he's decent. We have too many midfielders so some would have to leave, but he's more of a goal threat than our other central midfielders.

I did a quick search and nothing recent came up.

{Ed002's Note - Really? I am not aware of interest.}

Cheers, I thought as much.

{Ed002's Note - Keita replacement maybe?}

03 Aug 2018 15:53:14
Yes, Keita replacement, for when Real Madrid come knocking. Heard he was house hunting there with his manager already flirting with Perez.

03 Aug 2018 16:27:31
Haha, I'd like to see Keita play at least once before he leaves.

We probably need Ramsey, kieta loves a red card ( im aware we don't need ramsey )

Keita seemed to get most of his reds when his head and heart weren’t in it last season for RBL.

Never going to happen mate and rightly so, he's not needed.

Agree2 Disagree2

04 Aug 2018 03:44:10
I think Ramsey is a very good player but definitely not needed at the moment. However, if enough midfielders leave by next season, I would be delighted if we looked to sign him on a free, but then again, this is just pure supposition and my personal opinion.

Ramsey is a great player. He was wengered. Not needed for us tho.

Gordon Ramsey could be useful as help in the kitchen, and perhaps helsing out at half time with hair dryer pep talks. I do not see how the other Ramsey (the Arsenal dude) will get in to the the Liverpool midfield.

There wouldn't be room for Keita at Madrid with Hazard and Kante already there.

Afternoon Eds
Can u explain to me how the seeding is carried out for the champions league groups is it based on a clubs participating in it over the last 5 seasons or something to that effect and that's why Liverpool could effectively be in pot 3 for the draw pending what happens to Benfica in the next qualifying round
Cheers Mate.

European rankings I believe, we were almost dead certs for pot 3 but now Basel are out if fenerbache can beat benfica we will go into pot 2.

03 Aug 2018 15:43:55
If we go into pot 3 it just makes it more tricky for those in pots 1 and 2.

Not many will be happy to have us joining them in their group as they know they will be in for a tough time.

Pot 2 would be a good help but we were in pot 3 last season and got a favourable draw.

We are awesome who cares what pot we are in.

Agree12 Disagree0

04 Aug 2018 14:17:53
It doesn’t matter which pot we’re in
It’s our opponents who will be rubbish worried.

Interestingly this year, pots 2-4 are actually fairly flat in quality making it very little difference what group we end up in - especially when you get some protection from not being drawn with teams from the same country - so if you get Real, Barcelona or Athletico in pot 1 you won't get Valencia in pot 4, and if you get Juventus in pot 1 you won't get Inter Milan in 4. Honestly, there is only really one team in pot 2 I'd rather avoid (Dortmund) and at least two in pot 3 (Roma and Monaco) so I'm very relaxed about where we get put.

Hi Eds,

If we were to offload both Karius and Mignolet before the deadline, which goalkeepers are we looking at to backup Alisson?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know right now. The club look like they might want to use the youngsters. Bad news for their careers.}

03 Aug 2018 13:05:26
Grabara'll be grand as back up, going to be a top top goalie.

03 Aug 2018 13:55:18
sure we said that about ward BE, for me it should be a keeper towards the end of their careers so the young ones can get experience.

a few cup games a year won't benefit them IMO.

03 Aug 2018 14:13:38
If Alisson picked the number 13 shirt then Karius is staying i believe.
Or Mignolet stays because of lack of offers suitable for him.

I don't agree with the "it's bad for their careers" comment.
If we do have the 2 youngsters as back up they will both be working closely with the first team gaining valuable knowledge of what it takes to play at the highest level and training each day with an international keeper.
They will I'm sure still be given time to play games for the u23s and occasional first team games as ward did . On the back of Liverpool's development of Ward he has just got himself a nice £12 million move to Leicester and is set for life. I'm sure both of the young keepers would settle for that right now.

Good point Molby. I do feel like we've messed Ward around a little but he's ended up with a decent move and LFC seem to have pocketed a bit of cash. not a bad deal all round if you ask me.

Very good point MB. Any youngster sticking around when we have signed the worlds most expensive keeper must surely of gone through the thought process of ‘can I challenge this guy? ’. If the answer is no then best to move on. Fair play to those who decide to stay, and if it doesn’t work, then hold head high with the knowledge they tried.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 23:14:18
Nothing beats actual playing time week in, week out which the youngsters could get on loan to another team. Obviously they could learn from Alisson during training etc but it’s not the same.

A year or two training with one of the best keepers in the world will do someone who can play into late 30s no harm.
Alison was a number 2 just 2 seasons ago.
